Allison should have had a villain and redemption arc in the last season.

Now first of all let me say I do like Allison and think she's cool...but I also believe she had some negative character traits that were explored since season one and were really divulged in season 3, and could have/ should have been resolved by the forth season.

For one she did kill Harlan for stopping her child from existing, even though it was an accident and he was basically Victor's foster son. This showed the only children she tends to care for is her own.

Second, we never fully got an answer to one of her most famous Rumors, "I heard a rumor that you loved me." This one has always been speculated to be directed at either her husband, daughter or Luthor. And with how she sexually assaulted Luthor in season 3 before he got married and how he could never get over her, I think it was him.

Third, can we address that she assaulted Luthor?

Forth, she made a pack with Reginald and as such got to redesign the universe so Clair was back, and Ray was alive and possibly her father, which means she erased her last husband from existence and rearranged time and space to get what she wanted in her perfect life.

And all of this is bad stuff, add to the fact that Sloan is missing when Ben is here, and it does not paint a nice picture. In fact I always thought that the reason Sloan was missing, was because Allison could not handle Luthor moving past her, and being happy with another woman. Even if she didn't want him anymore. As such, she erased Sloan to keep her back up, even after getting married (twice) and having sexual/ romantic relationships of her own. She STILL could not handle not having a hold on Luthor.

So if I could change things, I would say let her have EVERYTHING she always wanted at the start of the season. Her daughter, the love of her life, her powers and even her carreer... and absolutely none of it bringing her joy due to the cost she had to pay to make it happen, and how BADLY it screwed over her siblings, especially Victor and Luthor, to make it happen.

Have her repent by actions. Actually have it so the siblings are a little slow to let her back into the group and only do so to protect their own (like when Victor got kidnapped and all 6 were needed to save him.). Have Luthor confront her about their AWEFUL relationship and most inportantly, what she knows about Sloan. What she did to her when she rebooted the universe, and why she's gone when cranky Ben is still here.

Finally, change the rest of her story make her face consequences for her actions. Maybe have both Ray AND Claire leave her after she went too far with her Rumors again only do it ON SCREEN so it's actually impactful and have her be all alone. Maybe have her reconnect with Klaus to help him get off the drugs the first time after her family leaves her (because honestly, I like their relationship a lot this season and her helping him stay on track was good) and that being her foot in the door with the rest of them through Klaus, before she rejoins them all against Reginald/ the Cleanse/ whatever is the true big boss this season. Finally, before she makes things as right with her siblings, try and help THEM get their powers back while she still has hers.

Because while I don't think Allison is a bad person, i think she has done bad things. And I think actually addressing it all instead of sweeping EVERYTHING under the rug like they did in season four, would be great.

FINALLY, PLEASE RESOLVE THAT WEIRD INCEST PLOTLINE WITH LUTHOR. IF IT WAS GOING TO BE SUCH A BIG PART OF THEIR RELATIONSHIP AND CHARACTER ARCS, I WOULD HAVE PREFERED TO SEE IT RESOLVED INSTEAD OF JUST... IGNORED. IF THERE'S NO RESOLUTION WHY EVEN HAVE IT IN THE FIRST THREE SEASONS! COME ON!

Something I like about the show, which isn’t even really to do with the show but the actual cast, is how many of the regular and recurring actors are left-handed.

Obviously, it’s not intentional but out of the shows I’ve watched, TUA definitely has the most cast members that fit the bill.

Harlan had raw Marigold inside of him instead of it being diluted through the act of creating life, which was why his was orange and closer to the color of the particles. For me, this helps cement the theory that I had about this season's powers: Each of them have something more or more intense powers because they ingested the Marigold instead of having it baked into their bodies. Viktor's powers turned orange because it's the raw power, which is also why it travels through his veins instead of spreading all the way through his skin

honestly when Five is telling Viktor that he suspects Allison betrayed them in the s3 finale and includes “she killed Harlan” as one of his reasons, that speaks VOLUMES. literally nobody has cared about or even acknowledged Viktor’s grief at Harlan’s death up till that point. this was the same boy whom Viktor was ready to raise with Sissy, the closest thing he ever had to a child of his own. and until then, everyone dismissed and invalidated his pain and the level of betrayal Allison’s murder of Harlan was, as if s2 never happened. and then Five admits that he knows how important Harlan was to his brother and that Allison broke Viktor’s heart with her actions, and that alone is enough of a reason for Five to be willing to declare Allison a traitor to the family.

i mean considering how many innocent people he was willing to kill for the greater good, you’d think Harlan would never be of any importance to him. And he was initially willing to sacrifice Harlan to the Sparrows anyway. But when he saw Viktor’s genuine grief, Harlan’s life became a real factor in his distrust of Allison.

nobody can convince me Viktor isn’t still Five’s favorite sibling.

Short Viktor Hargreeves Drabble

Viktor Hargreeves wanted nothing more than to forget. He remembered how blissful his time on the farm was with Sissy and Harlan. The games they played, the animals they cared for, and waking up comfortably beside his lover when Carl spent another late night at one of the various bars and clubs he often absconded to. While that life wasn't without its challenges, he would give anything to return to that blissful state of disregard. 

Coming home was terrible, or as terrible as it could be when your previous homes were extravagant mansions or picturesque farm plots. Walking into the dull apartment was anticlimactic. Thunder rumbled as clouds cast a shadowy loneliness across the room. The furniture was as it had been, functional, with no other amiable qualities that could provoke any familiarity with the home's owner itself. Viktor trudged over to the couch and flopped downward violently, exhaustion hitting him with the likeness of a truck hitting a small deer. 

He doesn't remember the last time he felt comfortable in his body. Whether from forced drugs, the insidious dysphoria he felt when free from the drugs, or the guilt he now carried from… well… everything. These vexations towered in his mind like skyscrapers, leaving him paralyzed on the couch while flashes of all that had transpired continued to plague his thoughts. The image of the bright blue light radiating off him and his violin, the sweet song that somehow sabotaged an entire planet. The boy he promised to take care of, now dead and gone along with his mother. 

He twitched in his seat, unable to contain his mind, and soft, silent tears drifted down his face slowly. Viktor learned young that crying with a murmured resonance was the best move,  as any noise could be a reason for torment. He remembered his father's chastising voice scolding him countless times. Viktor mouthed the words he had heard throughout childhood, his eyes glazing over. 

Number Seven! I will not tolerate this incessant squalling! 

Quickly and without mercy, forlorn intruded into his once-fortified mind. Emotions ran over him like never before as intrusive memories impugned his seemingly good nature. He ran a hand over his chest as a hole in his throat built, and his breath quickened. A pain-shaped nothingness weighed down on him, and instantly, he missed the previous feeling of torpidity when his breaths were extended and unlabored. In Viktor’s chest, a hole grew larger and larger and pierced more profoundly than ever before. He clawed at the same spot, tears spewed, and Viktor choked on each one to keep quiet. During nights like these, he was happy to live alone.

When Viktor was younger, he visualized being saved; it was a powerful and impenetrable thought for his teen self. Someone to whisk him away from his cold, uncaring family. He often fantasized about this thought, most often after rough encounters with his siblings and father, which were weekly, sometimes even daily occurrences. But with this idea came the guilt of it all. How could he think this way about his own family members? They had to love him at least in small amounts, whereas Viktor dreamed about a day where he could be himself, without the Umbrella Academy legacy lingering over his life like a damp towel. If you studied his current life, he got what he wanted. He was alone, free to make his own decisions with no siblings in sight to kick him out of their games or chastise him about saying the wrong thing. But internally, there was a sinister, selfish desire that even he had trouble accepting. He still craved their attention. Even after everything he did, not just to the world, but to his siblings. The damage he caused, the fights he started, he still wanted them to chase after him. To love him the way he wanted them to. 

To say sorry.

Do You Know This (Non-canon) Autistic Character?

Harlan is a nonverbal child whom Viktor meets in season 2. He has sensory issues as well, and once gaining some of Viktor's powers, the inability to control said powers results in meltdowns. As an adult, he does become more verbal, but relies heavily on scripting and masking.

Note: It is never confirmed - probably due to this portion of the show being set in the 1960s - but it is heavily implied, due to the time period that Harlan is undiagnosed autistic.

I know Harlan in season 2 is a pretty clichéd example of autism - a white boy with high support needs who is non-verbal, but he's still quite good representation. Sissy's love and acceptance of her son in the '60s, and choosing to raise him instead of sending him away to some institution is radical and beautiful. Sissy and Viktor both accept Harlan as Harlan, Carl, the villain of the piece, is the one who has issues with Harlan's autism and him not being 'normal'.

Also, while yes we need more diverse examples of autism in film and TV, people like Harlan do exist, we also shouldn't erase them completely.

And then in season 3 we get adult Harlan who didn't even read as autistic coded to me, the briefcase of sandwiches, the listening to his own digestion or tapes of bees, they took traits of autism to such extremes they didn't even read as traits anymore. And I know for plot reasons it was easier for him to be verbal but there are so many other forms of communication other than verbal communication that can and are used and we need to stop valuing them as less than. I mean they could have at least shown that being non-verbal and verbal isn't black and white and that many autistic people go non-verbal at times of high stress or exhaustion (I am one of those people), but that would require actual knowledge of autism from the writers.

And then he gets murdered in cold blood. Cool cool cool...

tbh i’m surprised at the amount of people i’ve seen say that five should have given allison a talking to, rather than viktor. why would five, leader of team kill that old man, berate allison for doing what he wanted in the first place? why would five come down on allison for killing an innocent person to prevent the apocalypse, when he himself has made a career out of doing just that? lmao
