you mentioned before that tim and brian would have a hypothetical kid named jesse down the line, if jesse is going to be canon, what is he like and what is his relationship with his parents and sister?

Honestly I haven't thought much about Jesse simply because he's so far in the future and I've been very preoccupied with Birdie and Tim, but I have put at least a little thought into his relationship with his parents and sister. Well, mostly his sister lol.

He adores Birdie from the get go, is absolutely fascinated by her and constantly wants to be held by her. He'll fuss when she leaves the room etc. he's such a big sisters boy (is that a word? Like mummy's boy or daddy's girl? Whatever) he adores her, and she adores him back, constantly brings him bugs to look at and all that. He did try to put one in his mouth a few times when he was a baby though so she has to keep the bugs just out of baby-arm's reach 💀

She's also his number one defender when he starts school. They're both autistic and very weird with it (Birdie with her insects and Jesse with I think it was lizards? Reptiles and lizards and stuff like that I'm pretty sure?) so unfortunately Jesse does get bullied a bit... Until his big sister brings in the insect the kid bullying Jesse is most scared of the next day and just sorta follows him around with it, telling him facts about it while he's crying because she's chasing him with some terrifying creature in hand. She threatens to put it on him if he picks on Jesse again (even though she definitely wouldn't because the insect could get hurt that way) and yeah, Jesse doesn't get picked on again. After that he doesn't get bullied again, sorta? just that kinda mean "leaving that person out and not choosing them in PE etc" kinda bullying? That's still bullying but he's not getting physically bullied or insulted by his peers so?

He's got a couple of good friends though, and he has absolutely no qualms about spending lunch with his big sister. For the sake of me loving these two, they're at a very small school which has like, reception to year 11 —about 4 to 16 year old— kids all on one school, tho reception to year six —about 4 to 10/11 years old?— probably have their own playgrounds so they don't get kneed in the heads by older kids 💀. This is because I don't know how US schools work and I can't be bothered to work it out so I'm going with UK school age ranges and year names and all that. Basically Jesse and Birdie's primary school and highschool are the same place and Birdie can go onto the primary school playgrounds at lunch without getting yelled at by teachers (pretty sure you can't do that at UK schools either, even when primary and high school are on basically the same land, at least you couldn't at the schools I went to, but anyway)

When it comes to Jesse and his parents I've thought about it a lot less unfortunately 💀

I have thought about him and Tim a bit? Tho that was mostly me thinking about Tim and Birdie and coming up with something because of that. Anyway, Tim is a very anxious parent, he's lost so many people in his life and really struggles with not being able to see Birdie at all times, he was a major helicopter parent because he was constantly catastrophizing about something awful happening to her if he left the room for even a moment. And obviously he gets better with this over time, therapy works wonders so he was a little less of a helicopter with Jesse, but when Birdie moves away for University he really struggles with panicking about if she's okay. She phones him most nights to chat, but between those times he's gotta do something with his anxiety.

So, he puts all his focus into Jesse. Jesse's like, idk still under ten when Birdie's 18 and off to uni, so he's still living at home (duh) and Tim can just dote on him. So he does. Tim bakes with Jesse whenever he wants, let's Jesse help with making his dinner (even though it slows the process down exponentially), is happy to let Jesse stay up ten minutes longer whenever he wants (this isn't as bad as it could be though because in his head Tim's set Jesse's bedtime at like, half 8 at latest and he gives Jesse his "ten more minutes" at 7:20pm so like, Jesse's only feeling like he's going to bed late y'know?)

Jesse loves his dad's, absolutely adores them. Not as much as he adores his sister, but still a lot.

Also I keep thinking about giggly, bubbly, grinning baby and toddler Jesse sitting on Brian's lap while Brian does wheelies and spins in circles in his wheelchair. Jesse's definitely a "spinning in circles" autistic kid and his favourite way to spin is sitting in Brian's lap. Only issue there is Brian getting dizzy and not being able to do it for as long as Jesse wants lol.

im really glad you guys (my target audience) are enjoying this as much as you are!! im a big fan of it even if i dont have enough ideas or motivation to write it (which has been a big oof for me these last few months)

anyways, here's some more details abt the au:

inspired by @sianabird's au, birdie is a teacher and married to siana, also a teacher, and they raise nuka together. when becky goes back to school, they're both really accommodating and understanding, not questioning why becky needs a room to calm down in if she needs it. nuka made a stimming toy for siana to give to birdie and it's one of becky's favourite things.

becky in this is probably autistic, if nothing because i'm autistic and love projecting onto my favourite character <3

becky used to have stims that were more harmful to herself and many of aimee's foster kids were neurodivergent in some way (one had ocd, one had BPD, three had dyslexia, etc) so she noticed near-immediately and gave her some stimming stuff. there's a funky fluffy thing shaped like a hedgehog she can press, a necklace she can chew on, several rings which she adores which she can twist (i had them, they weren't right for me but i think becky would love them).

i may or may not project my hearing issues on her but the jury's still out there on that one LFMAIRHJFHJR

gus and wendy majorly helped becky come out of her shell (along with the animal army, who i'll get to in a bit). wendy was the only kid aimee fully adopted, and gus is wendy's best friend, so they hung around a lot inside the house. wendy knows what it's like to be in the foster system (though it didn't happen to be as cruel with her as it was with becky) and was really kind to her without being like too much. and gus hadn't spent as much time in the foster system but is so happy and full of kindness that he's just great to hang out with. they both understand when becky doesn't come out of her room a lot, but they're both accepting when she comes over to watch them play or play with them

i've updated gus's situation: he's still jepp's adopted kid, but they're only a year on from being adopted and still getting used to it!

anyways, the animal army (which is their name, despite only having like. 4 people including tiger) really helped too, as they hung out with her but without forcing her to talk, letting her just... be part of them, and it helped becky talk to them, even if she did feel like a stranger despite knowing them for little over a month already, so yeah

at the beginning of this au, becky's mental health is similar to that to mid-s3. she's not the confident leader of the animal army like in the beginning of s1/the end of s2, and doesn't have that purpose of finding and taking care of that drives her throughout all three seasons. she's lost and adrift, believing herself to unlovable, but slowly comes to find that she is loved and cared about by those around her, and shows herself to be the warm and open person we know and love <3

Okay but hear me out, I love vocaloid/synth-v just Japanese music in general. But it tends to have some dark themes and while I love them and use it to cope because they are BANGERS (hurting for a very painful pain or it was a very lovely June for example) I can see the batfam not being happy about it. Like “oh music nice it sounds happy….Why is this about hopelessness, regret, and a sense that things won't get better?” Oh my autistic brain is so fixated on the silly

The music you listen to, the books you read, the films you watch, they keep track of everything and attempt to read your emotional state through the media you consume. Seeing you listen to music with those themes makes them sweat.

Of course, they try to make sure that you remain unaware of the fact that they are so obsessively tracking your habits, but you would notice an increase of therapy sessions and they would ask you how you're doing more often.

Dick would get emotional over it and probably shed a few tears thinking "Oh, my poor little birdie, they must be suffering so much!" and it's literally after you listened to Taylor Swift or something. In short: They can be a bit dramatic too.

How did they meet Hobie? What was their first meeting like?

A long time ago when Ansi was a wee lass her father accidentally opened a portal to a neighboring dimension and low and behold a young boy. It wasn't the greatest first meeting (lots of tears from both sides). But over time it got better. They were together for 2 years before Hobie went back to his world.

Did they like each other right away?

Nope. Ansi thought Hobie was weird. Hobie thought Ansi was stuck up. (Little did they know they were both autistic.)

What was their first impression of each other?

Refer back to the previous question.

Romance:

Why am I answering this section when I've already established that they're not in a romantic relationship. For fun 🤭. I'm gonna answer the sex one too. Let's irritate some allos today.

Are they 'together', committed, in a relationship, etc? Or label-less?

They're in a committed QPR.

Do they say I love you? (Or something else)

I don't know actually. I know they say they adore one another but it's not....like if asked they'll say they respect or admire the other but idk if they ever claim to love one another in public or in private.

Do they kiss? In public or private?

Yes. Everywhere but the lips. Honestly it's almost entirely on the hands. The hands thing started out with Ansi ironically kissing Hobie's hand. (It's not ironic anymore.) Lips are too much of a romantic thing for both of them.

Are they more likely to steal kisses, or make-out?

Neither. It's funny though because Ansi will run up and scale Hobie to give him a forehead kiss whenever he so desires.

What are their love languages?

Ansi's is quality time and physical touch.

Hobie's is physical touch and acts of service.

Emotional vulnerability should be a love language too but oh well.

They don't call them dates. But they do chill out on Hobie's boat or Ansi's Aunt's house most of the time. If they're going out they're most likely going to the library or a record shop.

Hobie. Definitely Hobie. Ansi was like oh yeah he's cool but feelings didn't grow until they reunited again.

Who made the first move?

Ansi. Immediately realized their feelings and went, hey I kinda wanna have a deeper emotional relationship with you because you're really cool and I adore you.

Hobie could only nod because he was in shock.

Do they consider each other soulmates?

However if that "unplanned interruption" tries to follow them that's when she starts to get really irritated. Now he's gonna act absolute fool.

(They were in Ansi's world.) He's a con artist. He does stuff like this everyday.

@hondagirll Tagged me to share my top 9 books, which I don't think is a physical possibility for me to do. I love books and choosing my top 9 would be a crime. There are single series that I could choose 9 books from, so instead I am going to do the top 9 that I have read this year. It'll probably be mostly YA books - I don't tend to read too many adult books bc there's too much smut for my little asexual eyes.

Make sure you check TWs before reading any of these. Some of them dealt with some pretty heavy topics.

So out of the 63 books I have read so far this year, my favs are:

They Hate Each Other by Amanda Woody - This is a mm enemies-to-lovers fake dating contemporary book. The characters (or specifically, one of the characters) was a little over the top sometimes, but I adored them. They were both dealing with so much shit and there were some really mature topics that were offset by the humor. First sentence: "Jonah Collins is dancing on my table, and I think... yes. I think I'm about to lose my shit."

The Sunbearer Trials by Aiden Thomas: This is pitched as Percy Jackson meets The Hunger Games, and is the first book in a duology. This book is so diverse and so queer, and I need Aiden to release the second book as soon as humanly possible. I love all of the characters, even the ones who are little shits, and I can't wait to see how the series concludes. First sentence: "First, there was only Sol among a sea of stars."

The Luis Ortega Survival Club by Sonora Reyes: This was a tough choice because I read both of Sonora's books this year. I loved their first book so much that I immediately picked this one up. But I sobbed so many times reading this book, it was a little ridiculous. I think it might have been my first time reading a book with an autistic main character, which I obviously need to work on correcting. First sentence: "The driver looks at me like he knows exactly what I just did."

Sparks Fly by Birdie Lynn: If you wanted to psychoanalyze me, this is another queer enemies-to-lovers, fake dating book. But this time it takes place at a magic school and also includes soulmates trope. Do I need to say more? First sentence: "Hit me with your best shot, Pham."

Imogen, Obviously by Becky Albertalli: I just know that Becky had a vendetta with this book, and I am absolutely thriving at the way she took the horrible way that she was treated online and channeled that into this book. This book examines the way that some people think there is a "correct" way to be queer, and absolutely challenges that. Let me catch Gretchen in a dark alley, I swear. First sentence: "I haven't quite unclicked my seat belt, but I'm getting there. Obviously."

The Sun and The Star by: Rick Riordan and Mark Oshiro: What is a favorites list without something from the Riordanverse? I am so happy that we got a Nico-centric book, since he is one of my favorite characters. I also loved getting more information about Will Solace. I'm glad that Rick brought in a queer author to help make this book a reality and I really think their writing styles blended well together. First sentence: "Nico faced the worst decision of his life, and he was certain he was going to mess it up."

Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler: This book was a lot. It was dark and gruesome and I spent the whole time completely horrified. It was also very real and unfortunately stands up too well to the test of time. I listened to this on audiobook and do I ever have some visceral memories of what I was doing when certain events in this book happened. I absolutely want to continue with the series, but that's something you have to be in the right frame of mind for. First sentence: "I had my recurring dream last night. I guess I should have expected it."

The Invisible Spy by Lisa McMann: This is the second book in The Forgotten Five series. I'll admit that I started this series because the author is the mother of the actress who plays Nancy Drew, but I genuinely enjoy these books. They're really solid middlegrade books and I enjoy the characters. Think Descendants meets superheroes. I like watching these kids come to terms with the fact that their parents maybe weren't the best people, and seeing how they deal with the moral quandary of having villains for parents. First sentence: "President Daniel Fuerte sat at his cluttered desk in the presidential office on the top floor of Magdalia Palace."

Skye Falling by Mia McKenzie: This book proves that picking something you've never heard of up on a whim can be a good thing. I desperately wanted an audiobook and I chose this off of my library's small list of queer books that were available at that moment. I had never heard of it before, but I adored this book. It tells the story of what happens when an almost 40 year old woman, who avoids conflict and personal relationships is faced with the very real product of selling her eggs at age 26. First sentence: "I'm lying very still on top of a hotel bed's rumpled sheets."

I'm not gonna tag anyone in this but if anyone does want to do the post, please tag me in it!

Man that video make me think about Aya (our main little and other primary gatekeeper) a little longer than I usually do and I always forget she used to be a host and was the OG of OG Hosts and she is The Most Actual Bird part and communicates more like a cockatoo that learned to talk than anything else

And all thats been SO normalized here cause shes a happy kid but her demeanor always makes me glimse over the signs of the shit shes been through cause like yesterday there was a kid that was displaying a classic and common young autistic behavior while we were at the mall and my fiance joked "silently diagnosing the kid" @ me when we were a distance because HE was and knew if he was, I had to be as well

And so I was going on a tangent of how and why that "odd behavior" of going from fully crying to completely happy the second the parents gave in is often developed which ended with "in the end, its the way they learn with difficulty with verbal communication to express their needs"

And he light heartedly commented "is that why Aya does it?"

And she, who is almost always co-con, goes ">:[ No cause it never worked >:["

And Im like ah you know, a kid who would scream, act like a bird, bite, and all those classic acting out being STILL ignored, yeah thats sad and telling *pat pat* but its okay cause the good birdie has a better home now

Also at this point wed be fine with her posting on this blog, but she avoids most adults like the plague (in more of a game than trauma sense, but its both) to the point shes only ever been in therapy like 3 times since 2016 and like 2/3 of those times were for like 3 minutes cause she "got tricked" (ie didnt realize we were in therapy cause something made her excited and then dipped asap XD)

Bruno will always love his s/o unconditionally, not that this is a condition, so whatever cute things you do when you get happy and excited only make him fall even more in love with you. If that’s even possible.

Seeing you happy makes him happy, so he tries his best to make you laugh whenever possible. Giving you a light squeeze when his arm is wrapped around your shoulder when you make happy noises. He can’t get enough of you.

That’s why he likes to call you his uccellino (little birdy), he’ll teasingly call you that nickname if you’re in a grumpy mood, trying to get you to smile again. Perhaps you’d been in such a mood today, which is why he politely asked you to accompany him on a drive.

You went along with him, still a bit grumpy but curious to see where this was going. You’d left the city and were starting to be surrounded by acres an acres of fields and vineyards. Bruno had stopped the car at a small cottage on a hill, looking out onto a family owned vineyard. The sun was setting and the beauty of your surroundings had replaced your sour mood with a peaceful one.

“Well, what do you think, uccellino? We have the house to ourselves for the weekend.” his smile was like a warm hug, his eyes so soft when he looked at you. You leapt into his arms into a tight hug, you really needed a break, so the surprise was more than welcome. The happy noises you made into his chest gave him a satisfying answer.

Narancia:

He thinks that you are the most precious human that has ever lived on the planet so he holds you on quite a high pedestal. You always get embarrassed when he mentions how cool and amazing you are, but it fills you with confidence. You always repay the compliments!

He thinks it’s just another great part of you, he honestly loves seeing you excited so he’ll surprise you often with small gifts like snacks or cool knick-knacks he found in the city.

Narancia is also your go-to entertainment guy! He loves hanging out with you, going on walks or playing games. Since he knows the city quite well, he’ll know just the right spots to take you. Somewhere not too busy or overwhelming. He loves seeing you win at games since you’ll be flapping you hands, he’ll loudly applaud your win every time!

Just like Abbacchio he’s not afraid to snap back at rude onlookers. You’ve grown used to it so seeing Narancia get so worked up at strangers is kind of funny. You always have to pull him away by his arm so he’ll finally back off. Thank god he doesn’t pull out his switchblade.

It’s been a hard week for you. Constantly busy with work, pulling long hours of work/studying. You’ve been very absent in your social life, feeling kind of low since you haven’t seen much of your friends. But it’s finally Friday, your work for the week is done and you can finally enjoy your well deserved weekend.

When you step outside the building you’re greeted by Kakyoin, a big smile on his face, excitedly holding onto some paper bags. He brought fast food!! You’d been dreading having to cook dinner tonight so you’d decided on take-out anyway, but this is much better!

You can’t help but jump up and down in excitement, cute squeaks coming from you. He’s glad to see you so happy, he knows you’ve been working hard and thought you’d appreciate the surprise.

He’s always loved your clear excitement, it makes him feel like he finally succeeded at building close relationships.

The two of you play videogames over at his house while eating the delicious fastfood. Jotaro even invited himself to play along, he was planning on coming over anyway. What a great way to end the week, just don’t fall asleep while gaming, they will draw on your face with permanent marker.

Abbacchio:

To be honest Abbacchio wasn’t sure what you were doing when he first saw you flap your hands when he agreed to go on a date with you. (he needed some persuasion since he thought you were joking) When you explained it’s just something you do when you’re happy he felt a little embarrassed he asked. It’s the first time you’ve seen him blush, and god was he cute when he’s embarrassed.

When Abbacchio’s falls, he falls hard. Behind that tough and perhaps rude exterior is a sweet and loyal partner who only wishes to spoil you to death. He does everything in his power to make you happy and assured that he loves you. So whenever he sees you flap your hands, it’s a reassuring sign he’s still making you happy.

You warned him not to spoil you so much and that just being with him is the greatest gift of all. But still, after all this time, Abbacchio has a hard time believing it. So you make sure to tell him every single day, until he believes that he’s deserving of love, that he’s your everything.

He’s also quite protective of you, he knows you can handle yourself, but he’ll want to fight the fight for you. When you were window shopping on a lazy afternoon and saw the cutest new figurines in a display, happy noises and hand flapping galore, some stranger gave you weird looks. Abbacchio immediately noticed and growled a slur of insults at them and yelled to mind their own business.

You didn’t like seeing him get mad but you’re glad that he stood up for you. You gave him a chaste kiss on the cheek as thanks, entangling your hands with his again to continue shopping, both rosy cheeked from the affection.

he’s autistic! of course, there’s no word for it in the 1930s. he doesn’t start calling it ‘his Weirdness’ until he’s a little older than he is in ch1 of “help the medicine go down” (aka... probably gonna be included in a future chapter)

his favorite ways to stim are hand flapping and whistling!! his main nervous stim is biting his fingertips.

bert calls him��“birdie” as a nickname sometimes. (like the step in time lyrics “flap like a birdie” hehe)

birds are his special interest!! it’s canon if you squint because during the royal doulton bowl scene every time he looks at a bird he’s like :O!!! and then grins at mary like the dork he is

if you’ve read the books, i have a self-indulgent headcanon about him + the starling, despite it not really making sense: the starling visited him when he was younger (and he could hear the starling after he was a year old). he didn’t realize until much later that it’s not normal to have an in-depth conversation with a bird.

he laughs and smiles a whole lot because he can never figure out when it’s socially correct to do it.

he’s alexithymic! if he’s not happy he has no fuckin idea what he’s feeling. it’s either “happy!!!” or “?????”

he doesn’t like being touched by ppl he doesn’t know but with his close friends? he’ll cuddle them all day, babey

I love Alfonzo so much? He's a big nerdy birdy that just loves his friends. He just wants everyone to be safe and happy and he cares so much about Ferguson. Also he's??? Adorable?? Have you seen this little raptor hands? I totally headcanon him as autistic for that and in all honesty that just makes me connect with him even more. And his adorable face!? Jeez, look at him. I wanna pinch his cheeks and pet his hair. I've had dreams where he was feeling bad and I went and just gave him a hug to make him feel better. Good god. ALso that pure and beautiful voice, it's so cool. Like I can imagine him singing smooth jazz, it would be perfect. Has anyone else noticed how he always said "Oh dear"??? He was always saying that. Let him say it again. Not only that but he's also SUPER poetic. His diction is amazing.

Oh dude even in the 'canon' of Sorry, It's Locked Tim does end up with another kid.

The second kid is more planned than Birdie but still not entirely planned (as in, he and Brian have been talking about it and have been a bit less careful about using protection, but it still happens a lot sooner than they expected it to lol). They name this kid Jesse and it's a little boy, so Birdie gets a little brother.

In the 'everyone lives' AU I think I'd keep this. Around the time when Birdie is sorta 12-13 ish, after Brian comes back into their lives and eventually starts dating Lark and Tim, he and Tim have a kid as well, and again, that kid is Jesse.

Also Jesse is like, obsessed with his big sister when he's a baby. Like, he only wants to be held by her, he stares at her constantly, y'know? He just really loves his big sister.

OH YEAH WAIT I FORGOT TO TELL YOU SOME STUFF ABOUT BIRDIE IN THE LAST ONE.

Birdie is a bug autistic, she fucking loves insects of all kinds. Every type of insect, there isn't a single one she dislikes. However, Tim really doesn't like bugs much (blame that on waking up in the forest, lying on the floor covered in insects and insect bites) but he tries for Birdie. Like, she wants to raise caterpillars? Sure, they can do that... Except that Birdie releases the butterflies in his room one day and he almost has a panic attack so now he's gotta explain to 3-4 year old Birdie that she really "really can't do that because papa is very scared of bugs, even the pretty ones". Birdie gets it and is allowed to raise caterpillars again, but she does ask if that means she can't dress up as insects for Halloween anymore, if Tim is even scared of the pretty ones.

Obviously, Tim says she is the prettiest bug and only bug he likes. She is very happy and proceeds to dress as a shield bug for the next Halloween. Tim is just very confused by her choice 💀

I think I also forgot to mention some of how Birdie is in 'canon' S,IL while it's just her and Tim. Because even though Tim hides MH from her, he can't really hide the PTSD kinda stuff it left him with. He can't hide the nightmares that wake him up, he can't hide how scared he is when he forgets things, stuff like that. He and Birdie have this kinda routine where if he wakes her up with his nightmare she goes and sleeps in his bed with him. So she'll wake up because he's yelled or something in his dream and she'll go into his room (wake him up if he isn't already awake) and they'll cuddle until they both fall back asleep.

A lot of Tim's nightmares pot MH are about losing people, they're about losing Jay and about losing Brian, they're about killing Alex and lying to Jessica about what really happened and then never seeing her again, stuff like that. But they're also about losing Birdie. They're about sort of "what if" scenarios where he lost her before he even knew he was pregnant, where the fight with Alex at the end caused him to miscarry. They're about losing her to some horrible accident now that he actually has her to look after. They're about the Operator coming back and hurting her. They're about the Operator coming back and Tim doing to Birdie what his mum did to him, sending her away to a mental hospital and rarely coming to visit.

The ones about Birdie are the worst for him, the others he kinda knows how to deal with, he dealt with them during MH and also, they did happen. He did lose those people. In a way that makes it less scary, because it's just reliving the events in a way and he can kinda handle that. But the dreams about losing Birdie? They fuck him up. Some days even sending her off to school after a really bad nightmare about losing her feels like too much and can send him into panic attacks all day.

On days like that he and Birdie have an agreement with the school that Birdie can phone home at break and lunch, and if Tim really needs to he can phone and ask for her outside of break and lunch. He tries not to need that one, he doesn't wanna drag her out of class in front of everyone, he doesn't want the other kids to make fun of her for it, because kids can be mean like that. Birdie doesn't really care what the other kids think. She doesn't even realise that getting called out of class like that could be something to be embarrassed by. All she cares about is "my papa is sad and scared and I can make him feel better by talking to him about bugs" because on those phonecalls she literally just talks about bugs she's seen that day and Tim's just happy to listen and remember that she's alive and safe and strangely obsessed with bugs.

ALSO kinda on the same lines as this, even tho Birdie loves Brian as a teacher, she's kinda suspicious of him when he and Tim get together. Like, not massively, but the first time Brian sees Tim have a nightmare when he stays the night, he ends up getting kicked out of Tim's room by Birdie because she doesn't trust him to know how to help. She kinda gets one of those little kid power trips about being the only one who knows how to look after her papa when he has a nightmare, like, she feels all special because just being there or talking to him makes him feel better, y'know lol?

She gets all high and mighty with Brian and he tries to focus on how funny he finds it rather than panicking about whether Tim is okay.

When Birdie doesn't come out of Tim's room again Brian cracks the door to look in and absolutely melts because Birdie and Tim are sound asleep all cuddled up together. Brian sleeps on the sofa that night and ends up all manners of fucked up because it is NOT a comfy sofa to sleep on and his back is already fucked 💀

Many many spasms were had all the next day. That poor man was not having a good time. Birdie feels sorry for him and tells him that next time he can go and sleep in her bed instead.

He appreciates the offer 💀

It doesn't take much convincing from Tim for Birdie to let Brian stay after the first few times he has a nightmare while Brian is staying over, rather than her causing a whole palava kicking Brian out (cos that's not as simple as just, Brian gets up and walks out of the room, he has to transfer into his wheelchair and make sure he grabs his morning meds in case Birdie won't let him back into the room in the morning when he needs them, and make sure he brings his service dog with him cos she sleeps on the bed with him and Tim, y'know? A little less simple than "get up and walk out". Also his neck is also kinda fucked up from the fall so he has a specific pillow that he always uses, which if he doesn't he always finds his neck all kinda of fucked up in the morning, so he's gotta grab that too lol)

Anyway, eventually Brian just becomes part of their whole nightmare routine and Birdie realises that teaming up with him to look after Tim works way better than doing it on her own. So she and Brian cuddle Tim from both sides and he gets extra reminded that they're both still there. Also Brian's service dog is probably trained to help with PTSD, cos no way Brian isn't also a little fucked in the head after MH, so she can task and do deep pressure for Tim. She's a bit confused at first cos usually she does it for Brian, but she gets it very quickly. Birdie is delighted that a dog can be taught to cuddle on command.

Oh shit you asked about tubes tied and stuff as well lmao. Sorry I got so distracted.

I think after they have Jesse, Tim gets a hysterectomy and all that. He doesn't wanna go through pregnancy and birth a third time, so they get that done so he doesn't have to worry about it. He jokes that if Brian or Lark wants another kid they'll have to figure out which one of them is gonna carry it.

He'd be happy to have another kid, all three of them have pretty good jobs now (Lark's the big moneymaker for the family with Tim close behind, Brian's still a teacher because he adores kids) so they could support a third kid financially, but if they want another kid, they're gonna have to adopt or go through a surrogacy thing rather than Tim carrying it like with Birdie and Jesse.

Oh yeah also the kids names:

Birdie is "Birdie Amelia Wright"

Jesse is "Jesse Alexander Thomas"

Yes, I know it's dumb but I love it. Jesse for Jessica. Alexander for Alex. Amelia for Amy. Tim names his kids so that people who were lost to MH are still kept alive in a little way (yeah yeah Jessica is still alive, but Tim has no way of getting in touch with her so nyeh). In the 'everyone lives' AU that kinda doesn't work as well so Jesse's middle name would probably be different in that, cos Alex is still alive lol. But yeah.

SPEAKING OF RANTING TO THEM here's another thing we came up with:

In the 'canon' of S,IL Birdie does eventually find out about MH. Probably about when she's 15-17 I think? One of her friends tells her about it, like, mentions that her dad's look like two of the guys from this old YouTube horror series and shows her a couple things that people managed to save before Tim deleted the MH channel and all that, cos even in universe I like to think MH got relatively popular, with people thinking it was a fictional horror series. It starts a WHOLE conversation at home with Tim and Brian where they have to explain that yeah all that stuff happened to them, no they really don't remember a lot of it (especially Brian), yes people think it's fictional but it's not, etc etc etc.

Tim and Brian are upset that some 'random' kid at school showed MH to Birdie, but over all it's not a world ending thing. What it does do though, is open the floodgates on jokes about stuff that happened in MH. E.g. "can't believe you pushed me off a building" jokes. Brian uses that one so often and Tim just sighs dramatically and comes back with "First of all, you fell! And also YOU'D BEEN STEALING MY MEDS FOR YEARS AND I DIDNT KNOW WHO YOU WERE BEHIND THAT STUPID MASK!" And Birdie just sits back and watches in glee. She finds it hilarious.

Though the first time Brian accused Tim of pushing him she did go "you pushed him off a building!?!?" Like, completely taken aback and they had to explain the whole thing to her and they probably showed her the video so she could see what actually happened.

Honestly I think that maybe once Birdie is like, 18 they end up putting all the videos back up. Maybe they only privated them rather than deleting them idk. But yeah I think after a while they'd just silently put the videos back up and all the lost media people rejoiced, and there's just the unspoken thing that Birdie can watch the videos if she wants to.

She doesn't.

Like, she watches a little bit of it here and there. But she never actually sits down and watches everything, she just doesn't feel like it's something she needs to do. She watches enough to know who the people being talked about by her dads are (Amy, Jessica etc etc etc) and she watches a couple entries with Jay in them over and over and over again. But generally, she just doesn't want to watch the whole thing, y'know. She doesn't watch all of MH and she hasn't seen a single TTA video.

Wait that reminds me now again (sorry, I keep fucking doing this)

That whole thing with Tim sometimes needing to phone Birdie's school and just, like, make sure she's still alive. That doesn't fully go away when Birdie gets older and goes off to college/university. Tim's always been a bit of a helicopter parent and though he gets better at it, he and Birdie do make time to phone each other pretty much every night. Mostly it's just Birdie talking about her day and what she's been up to, and Tim listening. Occasionally he'll chip in with bits about his day, but mostly he's happy to listen to her talking about her studies. (She's gonna be a bug scientist. I can't remember what they're called. But she's gonna be a big scientist, specifically working in conservation of insects).

If Birdie misses a phone call one evening Tim will definitely start to panic a bit, but he makes sure he only sends her one or two texts to check in before he forces himself to put his phone down and go spend time with Brian and/or Jesse :]

Cos while Birdie's uni age, Jesse is only like, idk 10 at most? So Tim still has a lot to do, y'know? Jesse keeps him and Brian occupied and while he's looking after/spending time with Jesse, Tim manages to take his mind off worrying about Birdie pretty well.
