Hq disability Headcanons

A somewhat detailed list of my haikyuu medical headcanons

Nishinoya Yuu - Type 1 diabetes and sensory neuropathy

Was diagnosed at 5

Inherited from parents

Prefers an insulin pump to insulin injections

Diabetes causes his sensory neuropathy

Nerve damage in his arms causing bruises because he can't tell when to stop practicing

Kenma Kozume - Hearing loss in both ears, noise damage

Plays games and music with the volume too high causing damage from all the years he's been doing it

Doesn't like to admit that he has hearing problems

Uses CIC (Completely In the Canal) hearing aids because they're small and unnoticeable

Also uses his hair to cover them because even when he knows they're hard to see he's still pretty self-conscious about them

Tendou Satori - Vitamin B deficiency, Motor Neuropathy, Audhd

Tendou has a vitamin B12 deficiency which results in him developing peripheral neuropathy, more specifically motor neuropathy

It causes him muscle spasms/twitching and gives him a barely noticeable foot drop

I think he has Audhd and struggles with paying attention and wanting to move around a lot

He doesn't have a specific hyperfixation exactly but is full of lots of little facts about lots of things

Hinata Shoyo - Audhd, Dyspraxia

I don't think i really need to explain Hinata's Audhd but I will anyways

It's one of the reasons he has so much energy while he's practicing, because he already struggles with staying still but also because it's one of his special interests

It helps him more if things are explained at the speed his brainis going instead of going slowly

I think he has Dyspraxia too because it explains a lot of his struggles in volleyball

It also ties into why the quick attack pair works so well because Hinata has to focus less on getting everything right himself and can put his attention into his motor skills

Oikawa Tooru - Osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis is pretty common

It causes joint pain and stiffness in most cases

And it's most common in places like the knees

It's usually from old age but in Oikawa's case it's from trying to play after an injury without letting it fully heal

But he refuses to admit that he has a problem

Kageyama Tobio - Dyslexia

He's incredibly dyslexic

Nobody knows though, everyone just thinks he's really dumb

He has consulted someone about it unfortunately he talked to Hinata who also has mild dyslexia mixed with the fact that his eyes won't stay on one point on his page

They both think that letters and numbers do that for everyone and that they just haven't figured out how to read it properly

Ushijima Wakatoshi - Autism

Definitely autistic

Pretty high functioning though

He's pretty slow on some social cues but the basic ones have been worked out in his brain

He has quite a high tolerance for most stuff but he's not the biggest fan of messing up schedules

Tsukishima Kei - Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome

Was partially inherited because Akiteru showed signs of it but not enough for a diagnosis

I think he specifically has cEDS (Classical EDS) because it fits him the most

I think he's been pretty used to his joints dislocating sometimes but doesn't realise that everyoen else around him isn't

The first time Yachi saw it she almost fainted

Particularly with cEDS people have easily bruised/breakable skin on their forehead, knees, shins and elbows

He has a few pretty big scars on his knees and shins from when he was a kid

They're also quite wide because with cEDS wounds heal quite slowly and leave wide scars

Bokuto Koutaro - Borderline Personality Disorder

This wasn't originally my idea (He wasn't actually going to be on here but it got pointed out to me yesterday)

BPD comes in four stages, Emotional instability, Disturbed patterns of thinking, Impulsive behaviour and Unstable relationships

With emotional instability it's usually intense negative emotions and severe mood swings which could contribute to his 'emo modes'

During disturbed patterns of thinking he'd get upsetting thoughts (like his emo mode) and hallucinations and distressing thoughts that he can't be talked out of

Impulsive behaviour is one i think he has less negatively but it's commonly negative in most cases

His impulsive behaviours are less harmful to himself and others

Unstable relationships are when he attaches himself to someone and I think that person/people would be Akaashi and Kuroo

Them trying to leave him would not go well, it's why he contacts them all the time because he doesn't like the feeling that they might leave him

give me coach ukai who decides he absolutely loves babies after one of his players regresses and hangs onto him for hours.

age regressor tendo satori & caregiver ushijima wakatoshi

tendo regresses between 3-6

he's sometimes quiet and tries to be independent because he doesn't want to be a bother, but usually very talkative and energetic

ushijima read a lot of articles like "parenting for dummies" "babysitting tips" "how to gentle parent" when he found out

he's not a talkative person but he does his best to say nice things and pats tendo's head a lot

it took a while to figure out how to deal with tendo's quiet bouts and make him feel better, tendo didn't like to talk about it when big

tendo just doesn't want to make ushijima dislike him, sometimes his actual childhood gets in his head and he doesn't want to do anything that makes ushijima think of him as a monster

ushijima could never think badly of him and he likes being his caregiver. even when he's noisy, even when he gets finger paint on the floor, even when he spills juice on the carpet, even when he gets so engrossed in what he's doing he doesn't realise he needs the bathroom and has an accident- it's an honour to him that tendo trusts him so much, and he will always be glad to care for him

tendo cries when ushijima tells him that

with that newfound confidence, little tendo decides to exercise that right. he talks on and on, he draws on ushijima's arms, he complains about brushing his teeth. ushijima is only ever kind and patient

ushijima loves cuddling tendo. tendo loves it too but he can not stay still for long and is always wiggling or shifting into other positions

kids volleyball. of course. ushijima loves playing with tendo the same way his dad used to play with him, sharing tips and stories. it's also a good way to get the little's energy out

tendo has a small appetite but ushijima manages to get him to eat more by getting recipes on mom blogs for foods that look exciting or can be introduced as candy

despite his small appetite he is always up for chocolate milk or ice cream. adding protein powder to these is ushijima's go to when tendo doesn't eat enough

he has a pacifier but doesn't use it often, but he loves to bite and chew on things. he has multiple teethers, but that doesn't stop him from chewing on both of their clothes and gently biting ushijima

little tendo loves magical girl shows, they're cool and cute, how could he not?

ushijima bought them matching magical girl charms and tendo was literally jumping with joy

tendo keeps his inside his pocket or bag but ushijima proudly has his attached to his bag strap, and it gets him a new wave of fans from the gap moe

Caregiver!Oikawa Headcanons!

A/N: Absolutely nobody asked for this but I’m getting back into anime and I LOVE Oikawa, soooo…. :3 (also ignore the banner he looks a little oddly shaped but it’s the only one I could find..)

I would like to start off by saying that he is literally MY caregiver…

He probably already knew about age regression before you told him. Not that he knows anybody who does it (although he does know a few caregivers haha wink wink…more HCs coming soon—), he just happened to stumble across it on the internet and got curious.

He still looked into it a bit more after you told him! Just to make sure he had everything right.

He would be such a good caregiver PLEASE 😭😭😭

SPOILS YOU SO MUCH OMG!!!

You want a new pacifier?? Okay! You want more stuffies? Well, why didn’t you say something sooner?! Of course he’ll buy you more stuffies!! You don’t have to be shy!

Does well with littles of any age but he actually really likes baby regressors. NOT in a weird way, he just appreciates the dependency. And he thinks it’s the most adorable thing ever.

He loves physical affection. He’s clingier than you sometimes. He’ll randomly pick you up and set you on his lap or he’ll always just be holding your hand.

Iwaizumi babysits whenever Oikawa can’t take care of you. Iwaizumi has a lot more rules, though, so you don’t really like it all that much. :(

He finds it so cute when you watch him practice and you cheer him on! It’s just practice, but you’re still so supportive.

And of course he finds it even cuter when you cheer him on during ACTUAL games.

If you use pacifiers, he gives you paci kisses.

He is SOOOOO over dramatic whenever you give him literally anything. You could give him a picture you colored really messily and he’d be like “GASP!!! OMG!! FOR ME????” and then hang it up on the fridge immediately.

If you’re acting out, he sometimes has to get Iwaizumi to help him…he’s so bad at being strict. He feels terrible but he knows SOMEONE has to get you to follow the rules.

He plays volleyball, so he’s strong. He really likes to just pick you up. All the time. Like I said, he’s clingy. He’ll just pick you up and hold you like a baby while he’s talking to his friends. He won’t say anything, he’ll just grab you. :)

He’s more than happy to entertain you. If you wanna play dress up or put on a little fashion show for him, he’ll sit there and happily watch you show off your little outfits. He’ll be so enthusiastic about it too.

He leans down to your height, looking at you seriously “Now repeat after me. Uncle Samu is a big stinky head” Laughing as you repeat it, patting you on the head. “You’re so smart!! Let’s get you a treat later after we show your Uncle what you’ve learned”

Terushima Yuuji

Lots of trying to keep his kiddo’s hands busy, the busier they are the less they can grab his piercings

I can also see him eating crayons…? Apparently it helps him ‘get inside their heads’

Definitely the kind to play catch with his little ones, like physically use them to play catch

He is THE tickle monster, very few are better than him

“Kiddo? Whatcha doing?” He questioned, seeing them moping on the sofa “Does someone need a visit from the tickle monster…?~” He laughs and pounces on them, tickling their sides. “I’m not stopping until you stop moping!!” He says, holding them against himself tightly

Upset Dino

Tsukishima Kei was not one to get upset. He didn’t know why he was crying but he was. Curled up in the corner of the storage closet crying his eyes out over a rip.

He thought everyone was gone, they all left, he remembers it. So when Yamaguchi opened the store room door looking for his jersey…he cried even harder out of the mix of shock and embarrassment berating him.

“Ah, Tsukki?! What’s wrong? What happened?” Yamaguchi spoke quickly, overwhelming the crying boy more. Tsukishima just kept crying, he didn’t like the noise, he didn’t like the question and he certainly didn’t like Yamaguchi seeing him vulnerable. Or at least big Kei didn’t like those things, but he was long gone by now, all the poor baby wanted to do was to curl up with Yams after his stuffie was fixed and have a nice nap…but he can’t, because his favourite stuffie was still ripped.

He just kept sobbing, leaning on Yamaguchi’s side as he whined and cried, babbling frustratedly and showing Yamaguchi the rip in his toy triceratops’s back. “Oh! Tsukki, are you upset because Tricey has a rip in her? That’s why you’re all messy and teary…" He reaches down and wipes his face with the sleeves of his jersey. “There we go…let’s get you home and cleaned up, then we can focus on fixing Tricey, yeah?” He tried picking up the taller boy then realising his limbs were too long and settling for pulling him up to standing and holding his hand. “I’ll tell Akiteru and your mama to give us some time…” He squeezed his hand as they walked back to the Tsukishima household.

Yamaguchi sat on Tsukishima’s bed, fixed stuffie in hand as Kei was inbetween his legs, curled up and sucking on his paci sleepily. “KeiKei, I fixed Tricey! Do you want some cuddles with her?” He laughs softly and hands the excited babbling baby his fixed stuffie, “There you go kiddo…I’m just gonna take your glasses off so you can have a nice little nap to recover” He mumbled while taking off the boys glasses and setting them on the table.

"What are you doing?" Osamu asks, unimpressed. The sight before him is his usually older, but currently much younger, twin brother with a makeup brush in hand, staining the gifted teddy bear in his arms, gave to him by Kita.

Atsumu startles and fumbles with his words. Despite him going to be in trouble for intentionally dirtying his stuffie, Osamu decides to be patient and give him the time to find his words, though they'll be excuses.

Suprisingly, he settles on saying nothing, fidgeting with Kirimi- named after the sanrio character who is clearly a salmon but Atsumu for some reason believes is tuna- and a guilty look on his face

Osamu sighs. Usually he has no problem being sturn to his brother, even to the point of physically fighting, but something about his little side really softens him up. "Look," he says, "y'know you're not allowed to get things dirty on purpose, Tsumu."

Atsumu fiddles with Kirimi more, whining sadly. "Come on, what do you have to say for making Kirimi dirty?" Atsumu whines louder but finally speaks, "She not dirty!"

"Really, Tsumu? I can see her." He does this weird frustrated wiggle that usually is endearing to Osamu, but now he's starting to get annoyed, "I dunno if I'll be able to get that off either."

"Don't!" Atsumu shouts, startling Osamu slightly, "she not dirty!" he insists, and Osamu genuinely has no clue what to do as Atsumu wraps himself around Kirimi, tightly holding her to his chest.

Then Atsumu speaks again, a lot quieter, almost ashamed sounding, "she's like me." And suddenly it clicks for him. Atsumu's words being spoken around the blue pacifier in his mouth, the same colour staining Kirimi's snout. Damn it, Osamu feels like a piece of shit.

He awkwardly moves forward and places his hand gently on Atsumu's shoulder. Atsumu stiffens but doesn't move away or fight him like Osamu feared he might. "Hey.. I won't try to clean her, okay?"

Atsumu whines and squeezes Kirimi, "you think she's dirty.." Osamu sighs and tries to reassure, "I don't think that, Tsumu. I just didn't understand. Promise." Atsumu hums but remains dejected and Osamu is scared he's genuinely fucked this up.

His brother has never been the insecure type to care what anyone else thinks, but this is an entirely different matter than personality or volleyball. It's something vulnerable and important that he was entrusted with, and while he didn't really get it at first, he would never genuinely think badly of Atsumu or anything that helps him.

Atsumu is his other half, and while it's sappy as hell and he'd never say it, Osamu is blessed by his existence. He has no problem getting on his ass about a lot of things and they'd beat each other up plentiful, but he'd never want to actually hurt his brother ever.

"Y'know," he tries, "I think it's pretty cool. We used to match like that, remember?" Atsumu finally uncurls a little, looking up at Osamu with such big innocent eyes. "Really think so?" He asks, still quiet and shy.

"Yeah, it's a good look. I'm sorry I was mean, Tsumu." Atsumu hums again, this time considering his words, then shuffles closer to Osamu, leaning into him. "Tha's okay, bubba," he says, "ev'ryone gets jealous sometimes."

Jealous. If Atsumu said that when big Osamu would be ready to fight, but he pushes down his pride and instead ruffles his brothers hair. "Yeah."
