the company i work for decided that its switching from the german formal "You"(Sie) to the informal "you" (Du) in all of our websites so now we have to scour the entire database to change it and i quite frankly hate that, not just bc the unecessary extra work but especially bc its such a weird and unecessary change
i bet its bc everything here is getting englishfied (both literally and culturally it feels like, when my new boss talks its half in english bc every second german word is just replaced by an english one despite there being perfectly fine words for it in german too, its so annoying) and bc they want to sound more personal in hopes of getting more clients bc 'company is your fwiend uwu!!', i know this here is the amercian tm site so you wouldnt understand really but i do not want to be greeted with 'du' by companies, no, thats too personal, you dont know me and im not giving you my data, stay away!!
i guess thats how i would describe it .. the formal you is like a polite distance, like someone you dont know staying outside your personal space, but when its the informal 'you' it feels invasive unless i told you you can call me that, and that goes double for companies
maybe its a small thing that doesnt seem important but i cant stand it, im just a little part time worker doing data work so i got no say in it but the companies founder also announced hes giving his post to his kids some time ago so ...... since then theres been alot of changes and new projects that solely aim to imitate whats popular and whats done by other companies, despite ours being one that is, or used to be, intentionally different, like, that was the POINT, but i guess chasing trends is just too appealing for CEOs
#ganondoodles talks#personal#rare personal rant#theres more and more changes that feel so weirdly forced#like man#i thought being different was the whole point#like climate and ethics are .. or were .. the core idea and now i guess its just fine to do whatever conventional companies are doing#yeah woohoo lets also do an app thing that forces people to sign up if they want reasonable prices!#smartphones the standard everwhere!#who needs anything physical if you can put it in an a phone so syphon off data directly out of people fingertips!! yea!!!#lets use AI pitcures bc we refuse to hire more graphic desingers and they are jsut so overworked uwu#climate? ethic? whats that#argh#sorry this needed to get out#recently had a stupid conversation with a coworker bc i asked them why we are okay with AI shit now when it goes against what this-#company was presumably founded on#and he was rly defensive and said welll we dont have time and its cheap and also maybe we should got WITH the time#like that last thing especially pissed me tf off#but i cant afford to lose this job#im starting to hate it more though so the dream of being able to stay like this might not be real#i cant get a job in this place that is as nice to my mental health so idk man#i wish i was good enough at merch and online stuff so i could live of that#but even trying to find out how taxes work on that stuff is a nightmare to me

How does Bluetooth Work
A ton of your devices use Bluetooth to communicate wirelessly. But how does Bluetooth work? In this video, we'll dive into the details of how your smartphone sends audio to your wireless headphones. Bluetooth is rather complicated and thus we're going to use a number of analogies and tools to explain it fully.

ive seen a lot of "sonic characters on social media" type posts and while a lot of them are funny i cant say i think theyre all accurate. sonic would not be on social media he would at most have a completely blank account with no profile pic or anything that he occasionally gets on whenever he has computer access and he just uses it to like all of tails' posts and nothing else
#i would say he'd use it to annoy knuckles and shadow too but knuckles is even less online than sonic is. idk about shadow though#also i say when he has computer access because i also dont think sonic would have a phone . or at least not a smartphone#he would either have a communicator that tails made him that only a few of his closest friends know how to reach#or some ancient flip phone that barely works anymore . and again very few people would actually have his number#no other options feel like something sonic would have to me

I’m about to post a really unpopular hot take:
Eddie Diaz is not a technophobe or social media avoidant.
Not wanting a coffee pot or home that listens to your every move =\= technophobia.
That man LEFT his job at the 118 and became the LAFD liaison at dispatch for months. He was on Twitter ever.single.day., five days a week, for eight hours a day. That man is a Twitter expert.
He taught Chimney how to properly light his thirst trap photos. You know Eddie posts like crazy on Instagram.
He is the most social member of the 118. He has friends all over the department, back home in El Paso probably, who he keeps up with via Facebook, Insta, Twitter… Eddie probably watches TikToks in his downtime at the station while Buck reads.
Eddie Diaz is not a technophobe or social media avoidant. Canonically, he is more social media savvy than probably anyone except the kids.
#911 abc#Eddie Diaz#seeing people act like he doesn’t know how to work a smartphone drives me bonkers#that man had a job where his whole job was Twitter lmao#he knows how and uses and likes to use social media

Listening to a video game talk in the background of my work and like... were smartphones already so big in 2013? As in, widely adopted to the point of high schoolers bringing them to school? Was that an America/Western Europe thing? I know I have memory issues and 2013 just so happens to be the time that I have trouble remembering but... really? 2013? Was that a thing? Maybe it was and I just can't recall? Uhhh?
I know me not having a smartphone in like 2015 was weird, to the point where I was the 'retro tech' guy back near the end of middle school but... uh. I'm a little confused.
#the point the speaker made was the one I heard many times before which is that the timing of the 3DS and PS Vita releases was unfortunate#since smartphones came about and took over most of the casual market that the DS thrived in#but then he said '2013' and it hit me like a brick#which... I'm surprised it didn't hit me earlier#considering that both of these handhelds released in 2011#and the Vita died like... so freaking quickly#while the 3DS was struggling for a little while there#I guess I have problems with placing all that stuff on the timeline#I got my 3DS in like... 2015 I think? it was a middle school graduation gift#and I know that back then I used my 3DS to do the things that other people did with their smartphones#(connecting to Wi-Fi on the go or taking pictures or watching YouTube)#(or playing games obviously)#I got my smartphone in 2016 but I still brought both to school considerably often#and now I'm wondering just how silly it might've looked to those rich kid classmates of mine lol#(the only people that brought it up was the guy who went to middle school with me and the guy I ended up being friends with for a while)#(oh and the one guy who knew me from grade school and asked to borrow my 3DS charger once 'cause he found a DSi)#(and wanted to know if it actually worked)#anyways sorry rant over

#parent death mention -#i guess ill tag this first because its gonna talk about that. lmao#i was cleaning around in my drawers and shit and i found a phone that i used to text and contact ny dad with. while he was still alive obvs#out of curiosity i guess. i wanted to try turning it on#but it doesnt work. i dont know if battery died completely or just because it's a really old phone (not a smartphone)#but i guess a part of me is relieved it doesn't work#its been what. 4 years now? and while ive come to terms with him being gone and i no longer feel guilty i had no contact with him before he#died. i think if he tried contacting me beforehand. i dont know. i dont know if it would've been a good thing to know#so in a way. ignorance is bliss as they say#and i think for my own sake it'll be better not to know#but its still something that passes my mind occasionally. i see him in my dreams sometimes#its still “fresh” enough that i still remember his voice and how he looked like#i dont know how ill feel forgetting

I like how millennials who see other millennials on the internet saying "no one under the age of 18 should be online" think that that's a serious proposal. I say that shit all the time and then proceeded to get into an argument with my mother last year over the fact that my uncle not allowing my 17 year old cousin to have his own email account or social media in 2023 was not going to help him avoid bullying, but rather the opposite, and that it was important to give kids access to something in mature and guided ways so they don't go crazy with it as young adults, the same with any other activity or consumable that adults tend to restrict minors' access to.
You all have GOT to learn how to acknowledge that teenagers are deeply annoying sometimes, because you are always going to find some people annoying, no matter what groups you're each part of, and you have to practice having empathy for them anyways. Saying teenagers are never annoying uwu is not accurate or helpful. Cracking extreme jokes about impossible scenarios and blowing off the steam of annoyance is fucking normal, you weirdos. Because at the end of the day, teenagers are just like the rest of us: annoying sometimes, but human and valid and doing nothing wrong just by existing.
#every time i see someone like HOW DARE YOU AN ADULT SPEAK ILL OF YOUNGER PEOPLE ON YOUR PERSONAL BLOG WITH YOUR FRIENDS WHO ARE ALSO ADULTS#it's like#cmon squad can we get some critical thinking in the chat#anyways if you're a teenager reading this#i do think you should be on the internet#however i encourage you to balance your time#i did not have a smartphone as a teenager and it was a lot better for me#and it's impossible not to have a smartphone now#so your generation's challenge is dealing with this situation you've been given and i'm very sorry about it#i also joke that boomers should stay off the internet but i don't see my fellow millennials crying about elder abuse#ageism goes both ways folks#anyways my super restricted cousin is now at a fucking military academy bc he doesn't know how to live his life without being under control#so good work @ my dumbass uncle

grown man coworker keeps talking about how homework shouldnt exist and "they have me for 8 hours, and they didnt manage to teach me? they failed" which like. first off you told me you failed math three times cause you couldnt understand negatives. second off, in highschool you have 7 classes. and a lunch. and passing periods. teachers have less than an hour with you. if youre resistant to learning from them in the first place, an hour isnt going to do shit for you. i dont like homework as a concept either but you are not in school anymore and your arguement for it is flawed anyway
#he also said that he thought school was a waste of time. that he could have spent the 13 years in base school learning something useful#sir you learned how to read and do math and history in school. you were not born with these skills.#this has turned into ranting about what this guy says he said that he didnt know what a younger customer got out of being a fan of the show#friends. cause it was made in a time before smartphones and some of the jokes had to go over her head and it was a different world#buddy. buddy. grabbing your shoulders. you can enjoy something without gettting all the jokes you can enjoy something that doesnt personall#relate to you you can enjoy something and Learn About The Things As You Watch#also seperately he dissed on the movie frozen cause he said that let it go had a horrible message telling kids to abandon their family or#whatever it was. he did Not watch the movie (clear from Just His Arguement).#hes generally nice but i never know how to talk to him#i dont talk to people to argue or talk about how stupid or dumb something is as the main topic.#i wasnt in speech and debate i dont have a deep knowlegde of these. dumb topics. i dont have an opinion and i cant contribute and dont want#to debate anyway! when i dont know what to say i dont say anything and that just makes it awkward#ugh. anyway. rant over i have to work with him again today i cant get mad at this before im even interacting with him

I have a lore question if you habe the time: do we know why yyxy is in Cher from Clueless cosplay?
I've spoken about this before, I can't find where I've spoke about this before, but I think it's to do with setting yyxy's time in Eden as a story that takes place in the 90s. A lot of the lore is set in the late 90s, indicated primiarly in Vivi's and yyxy's arc with fashion and technology, such as the cassette tapes, walkmans, computers, VHSs and whatnot. As mentioned in the 1/3 section of this post, I think there might be some geopolitical signifiers too, that suggest a lot of the story is set in this time period. Talking about Walkmans at all reminds me of this theory, from ChoerryColour, whose theories are focused on metanarratives and the music industry and really worth checking out.
By using one of the most iconic outfits from the 90s, right in 1995, it helps indicate when this part of the story is taking place, and what that means. If yyxy's arc occurs at the same time as Vivi's pre-robotification life (as suggested by EDILY's retro vibes) then you can more easily make connections between the two, like why Yves shows up on Earth in The Carol 2.0, why Vives go on a date in 'new', why a lot of strange things happen like they do. What message are they trying to deliver by setting it specifically in the 90s, over setting it in present day, or a nonspecific time all together?
#wow guys remember when i used to post about loona lore#loona lore#loonaverse#wrt walkmans jaden actually used to work at sony for a long time#choerrycolour actually inspired my first big theory post a lot so finally time i gave him credit#something something burn yourself burn cds burn whatever all that sort of stuff a lot a lot of it is about 90s music industry#and -> circles back to the post about JJ's commentary on how things were then and how things were now#its easy to forget hes a middle aged man whose worked in the music industry for decades and the thoughts he has about that bleeds in#everywhere#strangely though the only contradiction to this is that chuu the sasaeng/stan/fan uses her smartphone to stalk yves. go figure

March–April 2024. A very strange, frequently tasteless, mostly inexplicable black comedy political satire from the creator of SUCCESSION — though more strongly reminiscent, presumably on purpose, of the 2017 THE DEATH OF STALIN — THE REGIME is a six-part miniseries starring a self-consciously frumpy-looking, outrageously hammy Kate Winslet as Elena Vernham, the egomaniacal authoritarian chancellor of an unnamed Ruritanian state somewhere in Central Europe.
As her hapless husband (Guillaume Gallienne) and self-dealing underlings tiptoe around her growing list of neuroses and increasingly erratic mood swings, a soldier named Herbert Zubak (Matthias Schoenaerts), notorious for his role in a brutal massacre of striking mine workers, is recruited to play a hard-to-define, ever-shifting supporting role in Elena's ongoing psychological breakdown and various political confrontations.
Winslet seems to have been having fun, although she overacts shamelessly, and what accent she thinks she's doing seems to vary from moment to moment; the median could best be described as "Margaret Thatcher, very tipsy, trying to pretend she's not sucking on an Everlasting Gobstopper." Schoenaerts, for reasons that are never clear, plays Zubak like a punch-drunk boxer trying to walk off a life-threatening concussion, leaving his character a perplexing cipher throughout.
Like THE DEATH OF STALIN (which I thought wildly overrated), THE REGIME is more often crass and uncomfortable than actually funny, and its smug misogyny would be offensive if taken seriously (which is admittedly very difficult). Also, given the current state of the UK, watching the largely British cast mock the political instability of a fictitious "Middle European" autocracy causes some seasickness. (Whistling past the graveyard, perhaps, but still.) CONTAINS LESBIANS? No! VERDICT: Much more "funny strange" than "funny ha-ha," and because it's basically a one-note joke, it becomes like one of those terrible SNL skits that just won't end.
#teevee#hateration holleration#the regime#kate winslet#matthias schoenaerts#i realize i'm basically just talking to myself here#but i have no one to rant at about how inexplicably weird and awful this stupid show is#people who liked succession might rate it more highly#but i thought succession was hot garbage and a lot of you who loved it did so for reasons that make me think less of you#no matter how much affection you have for kate winslet#(a little or a lot)#this show will sorely test it#i fear that in mocking it i may inadvertently make it sound like it's actually funny#which it really is not#there's some fleeting but really ugly mask-off shit in the finale#that underscores that the whole thing is primarily about hating women and especially the idea of working for women#(obviously elena is a horror but she's like an editorial cartoon)#(drawn by one of those guys who think smartphones are degenerate)

Idea that I think would make a hilarious fanfic, but can’t formulate into a fanfic well so I make it into a really quick and ugly shitpost
#saishii draws#shuichi saihara#ryoma hoshi#Listen this idea lived in my head for 4 hours at work.#And I just think this concept is so fucking funny.#In all seriousness tho a decade is a really long time!#Think about how many smartphones come out in that time! How many memes we go through in a year alone!#I think Hoshi should be technologically inept once he gets out of prison it'd be hilarious your honor.

it's actually evil that you need to have a (newer) smartphone and an app to confirm the transaction every time you want to transfer money
for many, many reasons, but mostly because it's one more thing I need to keep figuring out for my mother and I don't want to!
#first I had to add her account to my app and deal with that for six months because her phone was too old for the app#then I gave her my phone when I got a new one (the fact that she needed one for that was a big factor in me buying a new one)#and had to set all of that up.#and now. she keeps having problems with it!! and she doesn't understand my instructions on the phone!! so I have to drive over there to fix#whatever she did#which right now only takes 30 minutes if I'm lucky (depends on how annoying she wants to be that day)#but once we move it'll be an hour of driving alone. plus the time I'll have to spend at her place.#so yeah I'm pissed off about it#the TAN generator things that you put your bank card in worked perfectly fine but noooo everyone has a smartphone right 🙄🙄🙄#fucking hate that shit#especially since the tiny branch of her bank in her village closed a few years ago. so yeah either you have a smartphone and someone to help#you set that up and solve any issues. or you have a car to drive to the nearest bank and do it that way.#this sucks#personal
