Meet: @kayla.fitlife I have struggled with my weight since 6th grade, and even then I didn’t know it was a problem. It wasn’t until I was taking a hoodie off and my shirt underneath came up exposing my stomach and a boy called me gross, that’s when I started to notice. I had always been active before that, I played softball for years, basketball, gymnastics and was a cheerleader. And then in 5th grade it all came to a stop when my dad died. I turned to food for comfort because it tasted good and made me feel good. I continued to gain weight, in 8th grade I could barely fit in a size 18 jeans. After 9th grade my sister was diagnosed with cancer and unfortunately lost her battle and I continued to turn to food for comfort. I struggled with my weight up and down since then and in 2016 I weighed myself and I was 274 pounds. I decided it was finally time for a LIFESTYLE change. It wasn’t easy and still isn’t. The lowest that I got down to was 207 and I stopped. Life got in the way and I was so exhausted I just didn’t give 100%. I put back on 30 pounds and now I’m back at it. I’ve joined a HIIT program and have started to change my relationship with food. I’ve gained confidence in myself and have realized that I am worth all of the hard work and effort. Starting Tip: YOU CAN! EVERYONE had a day one, EVERYONE started somewhere. ________________ How has the Wlstories community influenced your journey?
