*the author is conscious of the fact that Octavia's - understandable - dislike of Blitz isn't born out of petty jealousy, but is a direct result of her fears and insecurities, especially in light of what he indirectly did to her family, at least in her pov. nevertheless, the thought of a 17 y/o girl wanting her dad's "weird red dickhead" guy-something to be hydraulic pressed because he gets his attention "makes [the author] giggle"

I caved & watched a piece of live action with sis. A piece because, honest to Nika, I couldn't handle more.

Lemme just say... I honestly don't understand what people praise here. Maybe I simply don't have comparison to other live actions or netflix shows in general (I tried The Witcher and Stranger Things and both became boring to me in their early stages) but hhhh why do they act like plastic action figures, throwing "funny" one-liners, jumping chaotically around, and overall seem more marvelesque than an adaptation of One Piece?

And why they don't act like... Like them. Why Zoro behaves like wanna be slavic hooligan, he even walks like one, oh my god, I swear, I run into guys like this on my way for groceries. I thought Luffy will be my biggest problem but nah, one look at Zoro quickly set me in understanding that Luffy is not the worst that can happen to my faves.

Why the camera man has adhd. The camerawork at times made me feel dizzy. At times I couldn't even follow what was going on.

Also.

How can I erase that Targaryen Helmeppo naked scene from my memory. Please. Please.

My predictions for the rest of DRDT!

(mostly my general thoughts after this ep)

(Spoilers for Ch2 Ep16!)

Okay so- First off, Levi’s fate!

If he doesn’t die from this, then he’s almost certainly going to die from trying to assists somebody else. As mentioned in the voice trailer, he’s willing to do anything to help his classmates, even if it involves him getting hurt. I can see him dying without anyone specifically targeting him, or someone being targeted because they know Levi will save them. Although that might not be so reliable depending on the recovery time needed…

Okay, next up Arturo- He’ll probably finally leave J alone, busy with making sure Levi doesn’t, y’know, die- Plus the whole breakdown he had in the trial, and his secret being revealed.. He’s gonna need some time, I think-

Teruko! Ohhhh my god where do I even start with her- She won’t die, obviously. She’s told us that multiple times, we’ve seen the proof, there isn’t a way that she can die. And that’s her curse, more than the bad luck is. So she could hypothetically get away with murder, although I don’t think she will actually kill somebody. She could get away with it, since she’s like- one of the only competent people in trials, and all it takes for Charles is for him to either be murdered or witness a murder, and he’s unable to assist. So Teruko is the only one the people here are relying on, which leaves them vulnerable if she is the blackened. Also- Teruko finally broke down and cried! It makes sense, after what she’s seen, and what she’s ended up inadvertently causing- The voice actors for Teruko and Ace (and levi) this ep >>> The new Teruko sprites were so cool, and I’m pretty sure I saw one that mirrored Min-

And now- MonoTV!! I don’t know if my theory about there being no mastermind is accurate, but after this episode- It could be! And so I’ll take that- Wasn’t expecting it to sound like Mai, at all, but that’s really interesting- Pretty sure XF caused this killing game, or at least created MonoTV-

Whit! His new sprite is fascinating considering he has no other serious sprites- And his concern for Charles, too! (..also, more fuel for the time loop theorists?) If Charles dies next chapter.. Whit will either completely break, giving up the happy persona he has, or, he ends up going so far into coping that he ends up going manic in the trial- Either way, fun development for a guy who’s only really made jokes or known a concerning amount of things about hanging-

Charles! He- isn’t doing well right now, since he saw Levi’s injury- Whit did attempt to shield him from that at least, so points towards the Charwhit (platonic or romantic, whatever you prefer) dynamic developing further! If someone like Teruko was going to commit murder, she’d probably go for Charles first. Since he is the only one besides her that really helped in the trial, and if he hadn’t gotten involved after ep11, everyone would have been executed by now. Definitely the biggest threat if Teruko is the blackened. But she might not even want to take him out if she commits a murder, because after all, she won’t die from an execution-

And finally- Ace Markey! The blackened himself! hhhh oh my god where can i start with this- Ace still cares about Levi! He knows that it’s pointless, he was searching for any reason to be mad at him, even if it made him a hypocrite for condemning another murderer. But, even after that was revealed- He was willing to get executed so Levi wouldn’t die. He yelled at Arturo for saying that he couldn’t save Levi, for being a coward, and isn’t that ironic- Also! His friend’s name gets (re)revealed! After the QnA where his name was first revealed was deleted, Taylor’s name makes an appearance on one of the gravestones in Ace’s execution! I loved the fact that his execution was themed around his fears, since he was established as a guy who had, well- a lot of fears, since the first episode he appeared in. Definitely more interesting than the cliche of ‘horses’ (not that there’s anything wrong with that idea at all-) Uh- I have a lot of thoughts about Ace rn but I’m way too tired rn to type them all out- I’ll probably add it to my p2 of this!

Okay so- I’ll probably put the rest of my thoughts in another post, since it’s 2am for me right now-

So anyways these armors (and weapons). :> the gold, curves, triangles - they look ancient elvhen. especially check out the feet on mage and warrior Rook (tho rogue Rook has gold-toecapped boots hh), it's like DA:I Temple of Mythal Sentinel-type vibes. also the faces in various places (see: ancient elven sentinel's knees below on the left, Solas' Trespasser armor knees). the small triangles on Taash's chestpiece even look like this style of armor we first saw Solas in in a trailer a few years back.

in some there's also a golden dragon, like warrior Rook's helm and Davrin and Taash's shoulders.

I'm obsessed with the pretty designs on rogue Rook's shins here. also apparently rogues can have headpieces like full-on ninjas now, the mask thing is so cool. :D Warrior Rook's elaborate helmet is also super cool - dragon head, dragon-winged.

for the companion ones, I like how the armors maintain a few unique aspects of companions' 'default' styles. like Bellara still has all her triangular pouches with the hanging odds and ends, Lucanis' daggers, Neve's sleeves etc. it's a nice balance of being able to customize companions' armor in different styles (unlike DA2) while still maintaining their unique identities and preserving some individual elements when doing so (unlike DA:O).

these weapons are so pretty, especially the bow that curls like halla horns. I wonder if the lil blue-tealy kinda bits on these are blue lyrium? the head at the top of the mage weapon on the bottom right is interesting, it looks like an elongated skull, dragon-like maybe. the pointed top reminds me of the point of Mythal's crown or that one other Evanuris head-shape. and in the top left, for the shield, I can't see that horizontal curved shape anymore without thinking about Elgar'nan hhhh.

(also have this concept art of ancient elven weaponry for comparison. ^^)

now, i'm not expecting much for the finals but... if Life Mission (and Bloodbath) somehow wins or ties... i will release the full trailer by the end of the competition-

if not, you will still get it, regardless!!! just that the LM update will be up first rather than the trailer :D (and will probably be stuck in production hell for a bit because i need motivation to finish it hhhh)

regardless, ik i haven't been participating much on competition shenanigans but it's been so fun! mad respect to all the AUs that made it into the poll! didn't expect that LM would be the last man standing in allies list but thank you so so soooooooooo much for the outpouring love and support for LM, even though i've been quiet about it for a couple of months 💖 you guys are the best and thank you for being patient. my love for writing this story isn't gone. it's only beginning and i have all of you to thank for it~

Is it just me or is anyone else not impressed with ES season 2.5 (3??)

Ramble below - Spoilers(?)

Okay so...the trailer. I feel nothing but indifference. Why? Well let me just say...

1. This is adding nothing of value

By this I mean like...the premise seems so redundant and filler. The whole infection??? Its the same thing as the mandroid chips from season 1 and 2. Them getting all aggressive and fighting each other and oohhh the kids gotta help them and??? That's literally just the same thing as season 1 but everyone's red now. This feels redundant. And more as a filler than any of the filler episodes of season 1. The whole new premise seems just...washed out and a copy paste.

2. The characters

I hate the whole breakbee thing now. Season 2 ruined it. They never interacted never showed any fallout. And the supposed tweet about them "fighting each other to say face" is definitely more of a headcannon than ever even glimpsed. And then there's the whole Bumblebee episode with Breakdown. Which just feels so forced...like a 180 to everything again...And talking about Bumblebee, giving him a standalone ish episode after being made a joke side character for the first batch of season 2. This applies to all the other characters, none or them feel like they've grown or anything (back to point 1).

The only thing of value (arguably) is Prowl...and even then he seems a little overdesigned compared to the others in the show. Like a different mold compared to the cohesive designs of the other bots. And then there's the rumor of Mirage being in here maybe...it's just hhhh

3. Marketing

So this is season 3 now?? Season 2.5?? Hasnro claims they're gonna drag this to 2026 and now that's concerning given this trailer. If it's just going to be filler until it bankrupts. In the you department, it's also stagnant with hashtag being the only valid toy to really be added cus Prowls a repaint.

Anyway ramble over

Overall I'm not very enthusiastic, I'm still going to watch this. Given that this show meant so much to me, and it does feel disheartening to watch it slowly drain down.

Anyway I'm open for discussion. Truly I want to know what others think. Because I've only seen hype for Prowl.

Y'know that thing people always say? About how absence makes the heart grow fonder? Yeah. Eddie gets it now.

It's been five months since Robin whisked Steve away to Chicago so she'd have someone close while she's in college, and if Eddie thought he had it bad for Steve while he was right there at his side all summer long, it's got nothin' on how bad he's got it now. Steve calls him every other Saturday, and Eddie watches the phone all fuckin' day waiting for the damn thing to ring.

It's not like they don't see each other. Steve came home with Robin over Christmas, and he spent most of his time here at the trailer with Eddie. They're not a thing, not really. They're touchy and affectionate with each other, but they always have been. That's no different than it was the summer they spent in each other's orbit, never too far out of arm's reach from one another.

But they're not a thing, because Eddie's too much of a coward to risk their friendship by confessing his feelings when there's a very real chance he's being fucking delusional.

The thing is, though, Steve doesn't call anyone else on the kind of schedule that he calls Eddie. And when he calls, they stay on the phone for hours. There shouldn't even be that much to catch up on, but Eddie finds himself making note of every little thing that happens in Hawkins that he wishes Steve could be there for.

On Eddie's birthday at the end of January, decidedly not one of their designated call days, Steve calls him. It's two minutes after midnight and Eddie's got his guitar in his lap and a pencil wedged behind his ear, and the phone rings.

"Happy birthday," Steve says quietly when Eddie picks up the phone.

Eddie twists the phone cord around his fingers. "Thanks, Stevie."

"Was I first?"

Eddie huffs out a laugh. "Yeah. Didn't even give anybody else a chance. It's barely midnight. Shouldn't you be in bed? You have work tomorrow, don't you?"

"Mmm," Steve says, a little sound of confirmation. "Wanted to call anyway. So what do you want for your birthday this year?"

You.

Eddie's overcome with that feeling again, the tingle all the way down to his toes when he thinks about how gone he is on Steve, when he imagines his smile and his laugh and the warmth of him at his side. Eddie misses him a little more every single day.

"I mean... I dunno if you could deliver, Stevie."

"Try me."

Eddie aches. It's like Steve is begging him to say it. He wants to say it. So badly.

"I shouldn't."

"You shouldn't what?"

"I shouldn't be in love with you," Eddie whispers, and then he holds his breath.

It's quiet. Steve is too quiet for too long and oh, god, he's done it now. Stupid. That was so stupid. Such an idiotic thing to say, fuck.

"I'm coming home this weekend," Steve says at last. "I'm coming home to see you and take you out."

"Because...?" Eddie's voice shakes with hope.

"Because I... I haven't felt this way about anyone in a real long time. You really couldn't tell? We almost kissed on New Years, Eds."

"Well, y'know..." Eddie stammers. "Thought I imagined that."

He remembers how close they'd been that night, how Steve's breath had smelled of beer, how Steve looked at Eddie's mouth before Eddie'd turned away from him. Here he'd been thinking he'd stopped himself from making a stupid, terrible mistake.

"I can't play it cool anymore. Being away from you has been..."

"Hard," Eddie finishes for him.

"Yeah. I wanna try this with you. I wanna try... us. That okay?"

"Seems too good to be true."

"Maybe it is. We'll never know unless we try, right?"

Eddie twists the phone cord around his fingers again and tries to hide his smile behind the receiver, even though Steve's not here to see how stupid and love drunk he looks right now.

"Sooo... I did manage to charm you with my irresistible good looks and excellent taste in music?"

"Something like that," Steve says, and there's a smile in his voice. "I'll see you this weekend."

"Can't wait."

"Happy birthday, Eds. I... I'm sorry it took me so long."

"Better late than never, big boy."

I noticed that Marline said in the trailer "if Aerith wakes up, then that big scary man is going to kill her" is getting my brain cooking. I think it means something regarding the alternative timeline Zack is in rather than the classic "it's all just a dream" troupe.

Hhhh maybe. Or maybe Aerith is trying to reach out to Zack somehow, or integrate him back into the main timeline? But Sephiroth also might be merging the timelines as well???
