“I want to kill you.” 

You glared at Cheol as you clenched your fist to your side resisting the urge to punch the shit-eating grin off his face. 

Not an ideal sentence to tell your boss but the situation he’d kept you in was going the way he predicted and not how you thought it would. 

It started earlier in the day when he called Mingyu and you along with Chan and Seokmin in to do a mission which would require disguises and putting on an act. It was simple really he said, you all had to attend a gala, which had the member of a gang you’d been trying to catch attending as well. 

Butter him up, a few drinks later and he’d let the information you seeked slip out with ease. This particular member was one who caused a lot of mishaps, knowingly or unknowingly, he was hard to track but this was a sure tip as his name was also on the guest list.

It all seemed okay until he told you the twist. You would be the servers along with Chan and Seokmin. You looked at him in confusion wondering if he forgot Mingyu was also called in and was right beside you also wondering something similar. 

“What about him?”

“Oh right. He’s going to be attending as a couple with Yura.” He said it nonchalantly while looked towards you,

“It shouldn’t be a bother to you right? Considering it’s just a few hours and most importantly for the job.” He had a smug look on his face to which you slowly narrowed your eyes at him. Mingyu was going to oppose, but you shushed him. 

“It’s for the job Gyu, it wouldn’t matter to me.” You knew he had more to say but he just frowned and nodded at your words.

You knew what card he had been playing, you could remember him asking you that what if there came a time your partner would have to act as a couple with someone else would you have gotten jealous and you also remember you scoffing at him saying, it would be for a mission only anyways, why would you be? He protested saying it was natural to feel jealous but you told him that then you would need to get a grip instead of being unprofessional. 

Now you could feel your words bite you back as you tried not to glare at the way she seemed more than excited to be with ‘the most sought out’ agent.

You scoffed at yourself, feeling an even worse guilt at being jealous. The kind where you trusted him, but you couldn’t help the ugly emotion to rise up and as time went it seemed to rile up.

It was going to be one of the rookies, her first big assignment being this. Her name was Yura, from what you recalled. 

Your relationship with Mingyu was not exactly public. Again it was your idea. It seemed all your ideas were eventually coming to bite you in the back. Maybe this was your karma for something.

Eventually looking away from the couple, you sighed as you sat down by the bar.

“Oye, you aren’t supposed to sit, you’re the server here.” Before he could speak further, Chan elbowed your boss to which he glared at him but eventually gulped a little when he saw the look on your face. 

Now, Choi Seungcheol was no coward. But he knew better than to already fuel a fire that might just burn him alive. Quite literally. He thinks he’s spoken enough when he sees your stare harden.

“Haha, or not, yeah um…continue to sit as you wish, besides we’re just back up here…I’ll uh, I’ll go finish the um…cleaning the glasses.” 

“Get me a drink. Strong.”  

And as your pretend bartender colleague made you an actual whisky on the rocks — training required prior days to mission — your eyes automatically once again drifted off to him. 

Your partner, your boyfriend, highlighting the your factor harshly in your thoughts as you looked at the pretend couple. 

Jealousy, you learnt that day, is an ugly emotion but a fascinating one too. It might slowly chip away at your self esteem and build on a pile of undeserving guilt but it somehow helps in emphasising just how much one means to the other. 

It was a horrible pit at the bottom of your stomach but an unflattering brush in the depth of your heart. Both making you more confused and therefore, anger being the only emotion that would make sense. 

You could hear her giggles as she leaned in closer to his side, her arm practically cushioned between his and you clenched your molars in the assumed anger. 

It was as if he could sense your gaze. He always could, since a long time actually. As though his mind seemed to embed you, your presence right into his unconscious to the point he could practically feel your gazes on him. 

Maybe an exaggeration but he thinks when it comes to you, it all seemed to fall less.  

His eyes flickered to see where you were directing yours at, and immediately he had to put in his all to not just move away. He was trying his all honestly, the reason he accepted was because he was sure you were also okay with it. 

Professionally. Of course.

Emotionally? Personally? 

You may have just been on the edge of punching someone. Seungcheol, you wish. 

The way you were looking seemed nonchalant but this was the man that loved – loves you. Of course he knew when you were anything but. 

Before you could even move your attention to him from where it had darted to – Yura subtly moved her hand above Mingyu’s. It was so subtle but you were very observant, unfortunately in this case, hand clenching around the now almost empty glass of alcohol. 

It seemed in a flash, he abruptly pulled away, murmuring an excuse of getting another drink and you rolled your eyes at the pet names that smoothly rolled out of Yura’s tongues for him. You could feel your sanity level drop at that point. 

Taking a deep breath, you reminded yourself as you shut your eyes for a second, that this was a mission. A job. You couldn’t, shouldn’t fuck this up because you can’t keep your newly acquired emotions in check—

A hand on top of yours was the next thing you felt. And even before you opened your eyes to face the owner of the hand, you already knew. 

“Hey.” Minyu softly whispered, facing affront while you turned your head in his direction. He was close but not enough to seem suspicious, hand being hidden from the view of the others at the table. 

Even though it was just a small touch, he kept it there as he spoke out to Chan. Mumblings of the drinks, a few details about the information he managed to get. 

Yet all you could focus on was the warmth that radiated from his hand above yours. The way his hair was styled, the way his longer strands stood out perfectly, the way his pinkish lips moved as he spoke, eyes briefly shifting to yours when he did and it seemed he noticed your blatant checking out as one corner of his lip rose up. 

Dammnit, his suits were always your weakness. 

“Hi” He tried again, briefly shifting his head in your direction which seemed to snap you out of your daze as you blinked a few times.

“Hey.” You turned your hand that was facing down, and he briefly looked over and intertwined his fingers through yours.

Chan hastily looked over as he made the drinks, deciding he could probably slow down making the few drinks, and not like he was an expert at being fast anyway.

“Be careful.” He whispered to your pair, to which you looked at him and rolled your eyes but gave a short nod. 

“Are you alright?” As Mingyu asked, you froze up for a moment, wondering if your obvious discomfort was already known to him. 

Gulping, you nodded because it seemed easier to nod than to let your words out in fear of stumbling over reasons for your discomfort. 

Jealousy, was again, odd. It made you ashamed, a lump in the throat due to feeling like perhaps you were just overthinking it all.

You didn’t even realise you were blatantly showing your nervousness, eyes looking at anywhere but his and mulling your bottom lip. 

“You don’t need to worry over anything, ‘s going fine okay?”

“I can see that.” 

The words came out sharply than intended, and he blinked owlishly, eyebrow raising at you with an emotion that seemed familiar to both confusion and wonder in his eyes. 

“You don’t seem okay though.” He bit the bullet and told you his actual thoughts. He would have even said his assumptions but he did not want to tread too far. 

“I’ll be fine, stop worrying about me. Your girlfriend wouldn’t appreciate that.” 

Aha. There it was.

He scanned your face. The scoff was prominent as you narrowed your eyes ahead.

“You know you're the only one that matters to me right?” And even though he was tempted to tease you at the moment, he figured he'd save it for later. 

His hand squeezed yours, as if to amplify his words, their meaning to you. How much he truly meant them, he hoped that it would somehow reach to you through the simple motion of squeezing your hand tighter.

And somehow, he knows it did when the crease between your brow slowly disappeared, when the scowl on your face dropped and a seemingly exhausted sigh escaped you.

Jealousy was…tiring.

“Yes, I know.”

Without thinking, he leaned in closer to you, mouth grazing your ear as he spoke, the sudden warmness of his breathing so close making you shudder slightly.

“Tell you what baby? You can simply kiss the out of me when we get back. You know, remove all your anger, I heard it's a great exercise.”

The abruptness of the statement made you pull away and you couldn't help but giggle at his words, feeling a lot lighter than previously. A warm feeling spreads on your cheeks at the thought of his pink lips captivating yours. 

And of course, no one in this world could surprise you the way Kim Mingyu does. 

Well two could play at this.

Leaning in closer, your eyes gleamed with an equally mischievous flair to his, you whispered, only for his ears.

“As if I need permission to kiss the shit out of you, I hope you know I can and will do it anytime, anywhere.” 

His smile turned into a smirk as he glanced back at the table, seeing how his colleague was occupying the others, knowing he could go off for a few.

Looking at you determinedly, he stood up, pushing his hand forward,

“Bathroom break?” 

And of course, anywhere Kim Mingyu would go, you'd too. 

Placing your head in his, you nodded with a chuckle at how unserious this was getting,

“Sure.”

Lucky for the both of you, it seemed you were good at keeping your words. And kissing of course.

my mom got into F1 after Australia. interesting things she did or say:

Me with this au right now:

Ok so. I'm a big fan of the Odyssey and Epic the musical, the story of the AU isn't a 100% copy of these sources materials mostly characters like and lore like. For what I've seen now the narrative course is the same than the musical until the Vengeance Saga (the Vengeance Saga rocks but I want to do something a little different and maybe closer than the original Odyssey. I'm not sure yet but I just love the Phaeacians so much I will do something including them). I don't really care about the Troy war (I mean in the au, I love classicals Iliad included) so I didn't bother matching dsmp's characters for Iliad's characters, like Diomedes, Aganemnon, Helen and all.

Dream is the reigning king of Ithaca(™) who is dragged, literally, in the L'Manberg war away from his family. George is his wife (we don't believe in gender in this house) and I chosed Tubbo to be Telemachus (inspired by one of the dynamic I sometimes see in fanfiction were Tubbo and Dream are brothers coded).

George gets a little more, proactive role I would say, in defending his house from the suitors. Suitors started to come since 11 years or something like that. He can't really fight all these men who are youngs, well equipped and full of energy when himself runs a kingdom low on resources and men where the current military force is young and unexperienced (missing the prev generation to teach them). So he uses more sneaky ways, and it's not so rare than some suitors suddenly change their mind and leave or were never been seen again after getting a little to bold. Callahan is George's confidant and "right hand man" and yes he helps him hide the bodies. George also has an ongoing deal with the god HD (Hera's role).

Tubbo doesn't know what's going on but George said him to always tell me if one of the men was rude to him (the ones who threatened his son always disappeared first). But he tries to help is own way which mostly translate by being a little shit and sometimes got into fights with the assholes, like the small feral gremlin he is.

On the other side of the sea, Dream just lost around ten of his men including his little-brother/almost-son figure Ranboo to the hands of an angered cyclop, Ponk. And follows it by having a fight with his protector god and perceived friend Technoblade, resulting in the god leaving him alone to face the new challenges on his way: especially the wrath of the god Sam, who was Ponk's boyfriend oops. He will encounter threats and allies equally, including: the god Philza and his crows minions, the shape-shifting enchanter Quackity on his island of Las Nevadas, visiting the underworld to have a chat with the prophet Karl Jacob, slaying some sirens and feeding the sea monster Nikki with some of his own men.

At first I wanted to make a parallel between the human trio Dream, George and Sapnap (Eurylochus), and a god trio XD (Zeus), HD (Hera) and PVP (as Apollo or Ares I wasn't sure). However I changed my mind, made Punz Dream's best friend and right hand man and yeeted PVP to make Sapnap himself a god because I wanted to have an unnecessary Karlnapity storyline in the background. Take it, it's free.

Also I separated Wilbur in two characters: L'Manberg Wilbur/Ghostbur named William who was the crown prince of L'Manberg and died in the war before the beginning of my story and Pogtopia Wilbur/Revived Wilbur who I call Wilbur and who is an exiled titan, ancient friend of Philza and Technoblade, playing the role of Calypso. Tommy was William's little brother and a literal toddler Dream killed by throwing him from L'Manberg's walls.

I have an ongoing theme with how mask/hiding face is linked to inhumanity and how gods or godly beings Dream will meet on his way will somehow hide a part or their full face ; and how he himself started to wear his iconic mask as he chose the path of monstrosity ; and at the same time George assassinated suitors in silence, wearing a veil and pretending to grief his husband ; while Technoblade even if he said he was done™ with humans will be befriended by Tubbo until he stops wearing his mask around him because he's growing closer to humanity. So yeah shits like that.

I will end this little vent with a non-fixed list of the gods I talked about and their domains:

XD (Zeus), king of the gods, god of order, power, lighting, possibilities and civilization

HD (Hera), queen of the gods, god of night, sleep, oaths and destiny

Sam (Poseidon), god of sea, strength, earthquakes, energy and creativity

Technoblade (Athena), god of blood, battles, vitality and strategies

Philza (Aeolus), god of winds, tempests, travelers, sailors and change

Sapnap (Apollo), god of the Sun, fire, protection and loyalty

Wilbur (Calypso), titan of music, song, chaos and free-spirit (for now *wink*Fundy*wink*) (ex titan of fire and war)

In my previous asks, I pictured that DJ would be in the story before Arc 3. But also like, somewhere in Arc 2 before 06 took control. I had to reread the story to find a point where it would be natural for them to meet DJ and decided; Alan bumped into DJ during chapter 2 of "Karma's gonna come collect your debt"

When he was making his way back to Victim with the ice cream, Alan bumped into a lost and confused DJ.

DJ's like, "oh shit sorry man" and Alan replied "no no it's alright- wait.. you sound familiar"

DJ furrowed his brow, "..you too."

They have a stare off until DJ broke silence with "Uh sorry does your name happen to be Alan?"

"Yes.. it is, actually. Does YOUR name happen to be.. DJ?"

"IT IS! Dude Alan it's you right?! It's actually you?!!? I'm not imagining you am I??"

And the rest is history. Victim would be confused who this random guy that Alan brought back with him is though lol

Anyway, i'm aware that different situations and different choices result in different outcomes ~3~ so! Either there's a chance that Second is the one who's gonna get abducted (Second angst instead of Alan angst 😞)

or DJ is so confrontational and even throws in a 'your DAAAADDDDDDD (holding out the word to really emphasize it) misses you A LOT', much to the chagrin of Alan who was ready to leave the others alone thinking that they don't like him.

Or option 3; Alan still becomes Halo's fighter, somehow.

What do you think? I just really like it when DJ gets involved in AvA/M fanfics and your Farmer au made me really giddy xD

He'd probably ask Vic, Cho and Dark if they are emotionally constipated and stuff and would demand to get a grip XDDD. And i could see him teasing Alan a lot and calling the other sticks "his kids" and would even bring it up in front of the said "kids" LMAOOOOOOO.

With DJ around, it's most less likely for Alan to be Halo's fighter actually, since the mental health decline will never happen with DJ here. And most likely Second would be the one to be preyed on since Canary is much more closer to him and was the one to meet Canary first (SECOND ANGSTTTT)

AND DAMN IT I LIVE FOR THIS IDEA (i love the name "DJ in CS" XDDD) AND THIS CS ALAN AU WILL BE MUCH MORE GOOFIER WITH DJ AROUND.

Steward: [but doesn't give Genesis a chance to respond. Instead, un-crosses his arms as he turns to the door to Genesis's father's office, then knocks on it]

Genesis: [heart twists and pounds, but forces himself to choke back his terror. Keeping his face as empty as possible—besides his slightly-tensed jaw and watery eyes—turns to face the office door as—]

Duke: (speaks gruffly from the other side) "he may come in."

Genesis: [heart skips a beat at the unusual behaviour, but… after just a moment's hesitation, steps forward and around Steward to enter his father's office]

Office: [just like everything else to do with the duke, was next to absolutely pristine. Except—]

Duke: [sitting at his desk, with a seemingly-endless amount of paperwork scattered directly around him. Has his elbows against his desk, his hands clasped together in the air, and a deep scowl on his lips as he pierces Genesis with a sharp look]

Duke: [except, blessfully, only spared Genesis a glance for once. Instead of remaining on him, they went to Steward behind him as—]

Steward: (voice even) "if I may, Your Grace?"

Duke: [eyebrow twitches up, but simply responds matter-of-factly) "you may."

Duke: [flexes his own jaw, eyebrows furrowing and eyes narrowing as they dart to Genesis's]

Genesis: [just swallows as he meets Duke's eyes as emptily as he can manage, struggling not to puke]

Duke: [looks back over Genesis's shoulder as—]

Steward: "I know how this may sound, but… I think that you may have finally gotten through to him."

Genesis: [too stressed to even feel relief… especially as his father's eyes dart back to his, narrowed and suspicious]

Duke: (voice hard, but even) "duly noted. Please leave me to my son now, {Steward}."

Duke: [eyes darted—once again—to the man as he addressed him directly, but just as quickly returned to Genesis's]

Genesis: [swallows, anxiously forcing himself to keep his father's gaze… and nervously flexing his jaw]

[And, after a moment of silence, the door closed behind Genesis]

[Leaving just him and his father.]

[Alone.]

Duke: [after a moment of silence, asks with a slightly-sharp tone) "well? What is it that 'I'd like to hear'?"

Genesis:

Genesis: [takes a deep, shuddering breath, startled—]

Genesis: [finds his eyes darting away and to the side, but just as quickly returns them to his father's as he collects himself]

Genesis: (voice thick and uneven, even as he speaks carefully) "… to begin with, sir… I've—" [drops his eyes, but once again returns them to his father's as soon as he notices] "—done a lot of thinking during my rustication. About… what you've told me. How my actions have affected this family, us. How—"

Genesis: [tears his eyes from Duke's to stare at the floor beside his foot; and his voice slowly evens out) "they'll affect me, in the long run. About—" [heart skips a beat, face pinching, as he realizes he took his eyes from his father's. Quickly returns them] "—the harm I've done us all, through my actions."

Genesis: [lets out a slow, shuddering breath as he swallows, unwillingly looks away again, and lowers his head struggling not to cry]

Genesis: [takes an unsteady step forward, hesitantly reaching into his pocket for his stylus… and then placing it on the desk between himself and Duke]

Genesis: [terrified to know how his father is looking at him—]

Genesis: [and so, for once, lets himself stare at the ground] :'DDDD

Genesis: [stepping back, away from Duke and the literal life-saving stylus, continues with his voice cracking) "and I've realized you're right. About—everything. I'm—I'm sorry, Father."

Genesis: [swears he's visibly trembling, but… slowly forces himself to look up and meet Duke's eyes again]

Duke: [watching him with a deadly serious look; anger underlying his features]

Genesis: [panicking—]

Genesis: (breathlessly, desperately) "I want to do everything I can to amend my mistakes. Please. Just—just tell me what I need to do, and I'll do it. I'm sorry, Father."

Genesis: [feels naked without a stylus, feels nakednakednaked—vulnerable—and WEAK—]

Genesis: [can't help it. Sobs, and has to tear his eyes from Duke as he ducks his head into his arms, wrapping them over his head]

Genesis: [… and, finally, breaks out crying with his head cradled in his hands]

Father: [lets out a heavy, furious sigh… but slowly puts his own face in his hands as his son cries]

Father: [heavily disapproves of his son's breakdown, but… just like Steward, sees this drastic change in Genesis's behavior to be a positive sign. A sign that they'd finally gotten through to him, and that maybe, just maybe, they could 'fix' the endless problems 'Genesis had caused'. Even if he would still be stuck with a failure of a son]

Genesis: [as the seconds go by without Duke reacting to his crying, finds his stress building higher and higher, his breaths more and more shallow, and—]

Duke: (voice stern, but calm) "{Genesis}."

Genesis: [flinches, gasping, but immediately draws his head from his hands to look up at his father. Has his head shrunken into his shoulders and his eyes wide]

Genesis: [expecting the worst—]

Duke: [but just sitting up straight at his desk; his fingers interwoven together and his arms flat against the desk as he stares at Genesis]

Duke: (with the same stern, but even, tone) "go to your room. I'll think about how we're going to proceed. And you get yourself back together. We're supposed to be better than that. You know this."

Genesis: [hiccups, then swallows and nods fervently]

Genesis: [and, with a strangled exhale, swiftly flips on his heel to follow his father's directions…]

Genesis: [well, besides the crying]

Genesis: [goes off to have an absolute nervous breakdown]

Reminder: Genesis's "great sin" is that he's rebelliously insistent on using runic magic as, essentially, medication. For genetic health issues. That they've deemed to be "his fault".

In other words: while this may resemble a "reasonable situation", it is nowhere near one.

Especially because the father is 10000% abusive and that's WHY Genesis is absolutely terrified of him.

As a side note, it was very interesting covering all of Duke's real name with, well, "Duke". I only have his surname actually decided, and uh... y'know. That's Genesis's surname. And he's a hidden/plot twist villain. So I've gotta hide it lol.

“I need you to shut your eyes for a second,” Ice said, hoping for casual and missing it by a mile. 

“Absolutely not,” Maverick said, arms crossed. 

Ice sighed loudly, bringing his fingers up to run through his hair quickly as he looked to the clock above the lockers. They were due in Viper’s office in a little under 15 minutes, and he was starving. Ice figured he’d be able to get in a quick feed to hold him over, if he hurried. If Maverick cooperated.

“Mav, seriously I just need a sec-” 

“Ice,” Maverick snapped, “We’ve been doing…” He waved his hand out between them, “this for months now. You don’t have to keep hiding them,” 

Ice frowned and let out a low whine - hunger tended to make him needy these days, much to Maverick’s amusement. Ice lifted his eyes to the ceiling and rested his back against the lockers, trying to will his beating heart to settle as Maverick crowded against him. 

It was a testament to Ice’s need that he didn’t even have the blood flow to blush as Maverick quickly unbuttoned his own collar and presented his neck to Ice. 

“Come on, sweetheart,” Maverick said, arms coming up to hold at Ice’s shoulders “Let me see ‘em,” 

Ice screwed his eyes shut as he let his fangs drop. 

“Fucking beautiful,” Maverick whispered.

Ice whined again, and then moved forward to latch onto the tender flesh of Maverick's neck.

The first gush of blood was always a headrush, and Ice delighted in the steady flow of Mav’s sweet blood. He groaned into Mav's neck and then dropped his hands to Mav's waist, quickly flipping them so that Mav was pushed up against the locker. The angle was better, and that way Ice could at least try to keep Mav still as he became delirious.

Try being the operative word.

Mav gasped, clutching at Ice’s shoulder, squirming against Ice's hold to get some friction on the rapidly rising tent in his khakis and mumbling a seemingly endless string of praise as Ice fed. 

Ice let go once he felt the blush begin to creep up his neck.

A lot of the kids like Liu around the manor

He is super calm and caring towards children, and he also just radiates comforting adult vibes

His normal attire consists of some brown jeans, a grey t-shirt, some sort of cardigan (usually green, black, brown or grey), and a scarf to hide the scars on his neck

And he always smells so comforting too

So yeah, a lot of the kids adore him more than the other caretakers

So when you come along, looking up to him as this sort of father figure, he accepts it with open arms

However, you will have to share with the other children

He is almost always surrounded by at least 2 other children so yeah

If you are small enough to be carried, he will carry you around on his hip while he talks to or helps the other children

If not, he will hold your hand as he walks around the manor preforming various tasks for them

Sometimes he needs both hands though, so you'll just have to hold on to his cardigan

It does get a little bit tiring having you always following him around, but he is able to adapt pretty quickly

And knowing the kind of childhood he had, he'd much rather be tired out than have you think he doesn't love you

Eventually, people will probably begin to mistake you as biological child and father

He neither confirms nor denies said rumors, because whether he's actually adopted you or not, he still loves you and will still take care of you either way

That being said, it is difficult to navigate times in which you physcially cannot be with him

Like if he has to go with Slender to a meeting across the world

As he's heading out the door with his suitcases, you are tripping him up and clinging to his cardigan begging him not to go

He has someone take his stuff for him while he crouches down and explains that he has to go, because it's his job

He will rub your head and give many hugs before promising to call you every night that he's gone

Or if you got sick and had to be put on bed rest

With a snotty nose and tears in your eyes you plead for him to not go to the store to get your medicine, and insist that he stays here with you

He of course, explains that E.J or Nurse Ann will be here with you, and that he just has to go real quick to get your medicine so you can feel better

He's always so patient with little children, as he understands that a lot of the time, they can't even really comprehend the idea of literally just not being able to do things

He's never lost his temper with a child and doesn't plan on doing it any time soon

And so when he returns with your medicine, you quickly take it so that he can climb into bed with you and read you a story while you lay on his chest

And if he ever has to leave you for long periods of time, he will give you one of his cardigans to wear, even though it's too big for you

You wear it non-stop until he gets back and refuse to let anyone wash it because then it wouldn't smell like him!

And when you are upset and wishing he could be there to comfort you, you just cocoon up in his cardigan and smell it

When he gets back, he is able to get it back and wash it, because now any time you need comfort, you can simply crawl up in his lap and smell his shirt while he rubs your back and whispers words of comfort into your head

Off topic, but he probably wouldn't kiss you for comfort like how parents or siblings do

For 1, he doesn't kiss any of the kids he watches over, because most just see him as a baby sitter

2, he isn't related to you in any way, and is only a caretaker so that'd be weird, and also he knows a lot of children in the manor have trauma and as a survivor of many assults himself, doesn't want to trigger anything

3, there are a plethora of ways he can comfort you without even touching you, and if he can do that, he always prefers to do that becuase it's just better for everyone
