Rise of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - Dr. Finster & Lord Zedd (Incomplete)
When the Rangers freed Tommy from Rita's control, the shadow desperately seized the body of Dr. Finster, whose biology knowledge she'd been using to create monsters since manipulating him into releasing her.
With him, she casts a ritual to restore her master, Lord Zedd, from the remaining seventh shard of the original Zeo Crystal the Power Coins were forged from.
She is able to restore him, but at the cost of herself, as the incomplete Dark Specter forcefully absorbs her back into himself directly from Dr. Finster's body. Leaving the man exhausted, weakened.
Incomplete as he may be, Zedd's cunning and tactical mind from the war 10,000 years ago remains intact, and he enlists Dr. Finster to fetch him Goldar and his followers. They have work to be done.
#rotmmpr#power rangers#mmpr#happy power rangers day here's my sad grandpa and the ancient evil haunting him!!#these were fairly quick bc i knew what i wanted to do w zedd's incomplete form + finster was just an edit to the existing art#to make him look ragged and exhausted#i imagine that haggard as he is now - and still making monsters and stuff for zedd - he's plannin his own shit to beat the big guy#he's tired and doesn't care anymore - just wants to stop working for ancient evil shadows that wanna take over the universe#and go back to studying weird space rocks and reading textbooks#zedd-wise i wanted him to look like he was kind of like. emerging from a crack in space - which works well w the Z motif lmao#his zeo crystal shard is a lot smaller than the power coins but it holds like A LOT of energy in it#its like the odd keystone to his spiritomb#anyway. he can briefly reach out and grab things but for the most part he's just a creepy floating face - like an inverse of zordon#that's definitely on purpose - family resemblance and all

It's Morphin' Time
Prompt by @rukatofan89
Time for an Adrien Sugar prompt (with some Marinette salt) and a different crossover that is rarely used.
Adrien (Like in many salt fics) has lost his ring, friends, home and fortune save for the trust fund his mother set up for him before his birth and being the teenage son of Hawkmoth, finding any work or going to school has proven impossible and is living in a crappy apartment trying to milk his finances as long as possible since his aunt and cousin refuse to even acknowledge his existence. He was barely able to hold onto the rings that held his Amok by claiming he never had them. All the while, Ladybug is Paris’ darling hero and in spite of his efforts, Chat Noir is remembered as either a failure or a joke.
This changes one day when Adrien returns home after another failed job hunt to find a tall anthropomorphic dog with black hair and blue scales in his living room. Before he can get a word out the stranger knocks him out and he wakes up in a white interrogation room. His first thought was that someone ordered his arrest or one of his fathers’ victims wanted payback. Looking up however, he sees two men watching him. They’re both wearing black but one of them as an equal amount of green on him.
“You sure you don’t want to witness this?” The one man asks, turning to the man with the green.
“Your power, your choice.” The other man said. Adrien noticed the man had a strange pair of bracelets on his wrists. “Either way though, I approve.”
“Cool.” The first man says as the other turns to leave. “Tell Tanya I said hey.”
“I will. After I talk to Krueger about his capture methods.” The second man replies as the door shuts behind him, leaving Adrien alone with the other man.
“Look.” Adrien begins as the man sits down. “I had nothing to do with my father Akumatizing people.” He’d been interrogated with every method short of torture after his father and Natalie were arrested. While there was no hard evidence linking him to Hawkmoth, it didn’t sway most people. And he never revealed his identity as Chat Noir publicly after Ladybug had outright derided him in an interview after loosing his ring.
“We know.” The man interrupted him. Between Space Patrol Alpha, Grid Battleforce and the various computer experts they had connections to, he knew Adrien was innocent. “We also know you fought against him, Chat Noir.”
Giving a groan, Adrien put his head in his hands. “What do you want? I don’t know who ladybug is, and she won’t even talk to me. I don’t have a miraculous or a means to get one.”
“Actually.” The man replied. “We want to hear your side of the story, how you got your powers, and what led to you falling out with Ladybug.”
Adrien was a little skeptical at first, but something about this man put him at ease and made him want to trust him. And so, he began his tale, meeting the old guardian on his very first day of school. Receiving Plagg and becoming Chat Noir and his and Ladybugs’ fights with the Akumas. How their relationship went from being equal partners to her having power over him, keeping more and more secrets, and how he never received any training like Ladybug did outside of ONE meeting with the old guardian. Of how she left him to fight Akumas to go retrieve other heroes and how he was never allowed to know their identities and how she even banned one person from being a bearer again because HE knew her identity. Then his tale turned to Ladybug becoming the guardian and him eventually losing his ring before Ladybug and the other heroes took down his father. Eventually, he ended his story on a tangent about Lila’s’ manipulations and how they led to him becoming ostracized by his former friends once her lies were exposed.
As he listened to they young mans’ tale, Zack Taylor, the original Mighty Morphin’ Black Ranger had to struggle to keep his poker face. While they never exactly asked WHY Zordon had chosen them to become the Power Rangers, he always treated the five, and later six, of them equally and never asked them to keep secrets from each other. If their mentor had pulled with Jason what the old guardian did with Ladybug, Rita wouldn’t have NEEDED to brainwash Tommy into being the Green Ranger. And in spite of what Parisians might think (honestly, who put what in the drinking water there?) they knew Chat Noir was a capable hero, if not a little socially and emotionally stunted. Heck, if both he and Adrien were heroes at the same time and place, they’d probably be bouncing puns and jokes off each other the whole fight while everyone laughed. Zack couldn’t help seeing a bit of his teenaged self in the broken hero before him.
“Thank you, by the way.” Adrien said, taking a drink of water.
“What for?” Zack asked, pulled from his musings.
“Letting me get that off my chest.” Adrien answered. “I think your the first one who’s cared about my side of the story, ever.” He snorted. “Everyone just took a few bad things and immediately thought the worst of me.”
“You’re welcome.” Zack smiled back, a little stunned by this. “Could you do me a favor though?” He asked, reaching into his pocket.
“What?” Adrien asked as Zack put a weathered gold coin on the table and slid it to him. Looking at it, he noticed it had an image of a Mammoth or Mastodon on it.
“Hold that coin and tell me what you feel.” Adrien gives a sigh and picks up the coin.
“I swear, if a little mammoth comes out of this thin.” He’s cut off as the proxy power coin glows and a black light envelops his body. Zack smiles, because sitting before him now, was a new black Mighty Morphin’ Power Ranger. His successor has been found. He will teach Adrien to become the new Black Ranger and once his training is complete, give him the actual power coin.
A few highlights for Adrien’s’ new life as an apprentice Ranger.
-Zack explains that several older rangers are seeking successors and convincing Adrien he’s worthy of the power.
-Training with Ninjor at his temple when not training with Zack.
-At one point Adrien runs into a bitter but repentant Chloe. He and Zack see her attempting to rescue kids during a monster attack and short list her as a possible apprentice ranger.(Early SPD maybe?)
-Therapy sessions with Karone. (not a bad person to talk out past issues with I think)
-Meets Minh Kwan (Romance or brother sister relationship-you decide)
-Gaining a new best friend in Jayden Shiba (I can’t help feeling they’d bond over learning to be normal ‘teenagers with attitude’)
-Meeting the Mystic Force Power Rangers who not only sever his connection to the Peacock Miraculous but also transfer his Amok into a surgical pin which Dana Mitchell (Lightspeed Rescue Pink Ranger) then implants inside his body.
-Finding out at a massive get together that not only do ALL the Power Rangers know each others identities, they help each other on both sides of the mask. Many rangers (the rest of the living OG MMPR team included) welcome him to the ranger family (He cried happy tears that day) a few lawyer rangers begin looking into his aunt and many of the goings on in Paris and allow Adrien to reclaim his wealth, even if he doesn’t need it.
-Eventually, a new red, pink and blue ranger are picked to join Adrien and Minh as the new Mighty Morphin’ team and they become fast friends as their predecessors did.
One day, a new villain crawls out of the woodwork and the new rangers investigate activity in Paris. Team Miraculous is overrun by literally hundreds of foot soldiers and when the rangers appear to help, end up getting in the way of finishing the monster. Eventually, they manage to stop the attack, but when Ladybug goes to thank them Black Rangers tells her to stay out of the way and to “let the actual heroes do their job.” The rest of the rangers back him up while gently chiding him, which he accepts with grace.
As more monster attacks are repelled by the rangers, Team Miraculous keeps looking more and more inept in comparison. (Considering they don’t have the support network the rangers do or training it’s unsurprising.) They aren’t dealing with Akumas attempting to capture their Miraculous anymore, they’re dealing with monsters trying to outright kill them all. Support for the team is at an all time low and Ladybug is low key losing it.
Things come to a head when Marinette is watching footage of the ranger battles and recognizes Chat Noir from a pun black ranger makes. After the next battle, Ladybug swoops into a (thankfully) empty battlefield and demands Adrien give her his morpher because “If you weren’t worthy of a miraculous, you aren’t worthy to be a ranger.” Minh leads the rangers in ripping into Ladybug for this, firing off her failings as a hero and for how she treated their friend. She doesn’t back down and sicks the rest of the team on them (albeit some are reluctant) when he refuses her again.
As the fight breaks out, the battle is witnessed by SPA who quickly puts out a call for reinforcements. Soon the five rangers are joined by their predecessors (who now use the proxy coins only when needed) Tommy and Katherine Oliver, Ninjor, The Mystic Force, The red, pink and Titanium Lightspeed rangers, The Samurai Rangers, the red and Quantum Time Force Rangers, and the recently promoted Commander Kruger. During the fight, Ladybug fixates on Adrien to the point that Tommy pops the Dragon coin out of the Master Morpher and tosses it to him so he can use the Dragon Shield and Dagger for added protection.
With sheer numbers, and Adrien’s’ knowledge of the Miraculous powers, they are able to whittle down the team to just Ladybug, the replacement Chat Noir, Rena Rouge, Argos and Ryuko. Argos (After realizing he can’t control his cousin) then uses an Amok to create a 'Sentizord’ for the five of them to pilot. In response, the current MMPR team call the Dinozords with Adrien also calling the Dragonzord. The fight begins but the Sentizord is amazingly fast, allowing it to damage the Megazord and Dragonzord. Albeit this does exhaust the Sentizord as the fight draws on.
Ladybug comments during the fight that no matter what team Adrien’s on, he can’t win. After all, they only beat Hawkmoth AFTER he lost his ring. The fury surges in Adrien and he calls out.
“MASTODON, LION, THUDERZORD POWER!”
The other rangers give their own calls and five bolts of lighting hit the damaged Dino Megazord, recharging and transforming it into the Thunder Megazord. Rallying the Dragonzord with the dagger, the two charge the worn out Sentizord, eventually knocking it backwards and the heroes out of it for them to be captured by the other rangers.
After the fight, Su-Han attempts to recover the Miraculous in his usual bullheaded and ham-fisted way. It goes about as well as you think it does. After being interrogated by Grid Battleforce yields no answers, the red Cosmic Fury ranger Amelia Jones uses her telepathy to read the Celestial Guardians’ mind and finds that the Guardian order is behind a global rash of child kidnappings to restore their numbers by 'conscripting and indoctrinating’ them into their order. The temple is soon captured by a large team of rangers from every team and spearheaded by Adrien’s’ team.
Later, in the same interrogation room he met Zack in, Adrien sits across from Marinette. Tikki floats next to her but she dose not have her Miraculous. When asked what’s going to happen now, Adrien replies that as the world court isn’t ready to handle magic users, so they will defer to them. That said, they understand that Marinette was manipulated and conditioned by a pair of cult members (Fu and Su), but was still a good hero before they interfered. So, SPA and Grid Battleforce will hold onto the Miraculous until she and the other heroes have completed both psychological counseling, and a full ranger training course. From there, they will see if the heroes want their Miraculous back, and if they are truly worthy of them. (Spoiler alert, some of them don’t, and aren’t) As he leaves the the room, Adrien turns to the girl he once loved, but now feels only pity with a dash of hope.
“And Marinette, may the power protect you.”
OP Note: This prompt actually reminds me of some of my old crossover ideas I had for Power Rangers (albiet non-salt related), so I really like this idea, though I think it would be even better without the salt parts.

so like… i find it HILARIOUS that in the ck 2 dojos rising game, terry just calls tory: (HOW DOES HE HAVE HER NUMBER? IS HE USING JOHN’S PHONE? WHY DOES HE LOOK LIKE ZORDON FROM THE ORIGINAL MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS? can i get an app that makes my facetimes look that cool? WHY DOES HE NEED TO FACETIME? so extra. or maybe these writers don’t know what a facetime is.) threatening john. and his raw evil energy is SO strong that he literally creates a cobra thundercloud. i imagine this is how it went:
(and poor tory too - having to be privy to whatever crazy homoeroticism that was.)

Bertie Skullovitch, once upon a time Bertie Russell woke up from a hangover to a very familiar control center. And wasted no time powering through the headache to yell at the blue floating raisin and the yes man robot she used to respect.
“You couldn’t stop at just one of my sons you went for the complete matching set? Bronze, are you kidding me? Stanley might be a bitter little possible bastard but-”
“Bertie-” Alpha tried and Bertie kept going, barrelling over the robot’s protests and continuing to air her frustrations at Zordon.
“Shut up Alpha. And another thing. That one’s descendant, gold. I’m not surprised and I’m less surprised Stan’s got low enough self esteem to let him into his bed. Except how many times are you going to use the same families to solve your grid damned problems you useless floating-” She snapped, took a breath and kept going.
“Orange doesn’t want me if that’s what you’re after. Or she didn’t last time you needed an orange ranger and I don’t think she and I can see eye to eye long enough to fix whatever stupid bullshit you did this time. I don’t have enough mommy instinct for that, anymore.”
“Thanks for the admission, mom.”
Bertie froze. In the shadows to her right were gold, bronze, and silver. Stan physically pushing his companions behind him as he looked at her with a lip curled in contempt.
“I'm gonna ask about the possible bastard bit later.” He said relatively calmly. “But I guess finding out you’re the old Orange explains a lot of shit. Like why you don’t like Tommy or David.”
“It’s a principle thing.” She agreed. “Who needs reminders of this fucking joke of a legacy.”
She realized a moment too late the wording was probably not the smartest when Stan allowed the little silver to come at Bertie while he turned to David, presumably to calm him down.
“Skull got kidnapped!” The little silver roared as she hoisted Bertie up with both hands by the lapels of her jacket she’d been too drunk to remove the night before. “Skull and Jason and Spike! We can’t get to them, and Bulk’s in no shape to help!”
“Put me down little girl.” Bertie said with enough ice to make the enraged teen actually listen to her. “I don’t especially care.” And had to promptly duck when a silvery fist was swung at her head.
“Ranger business is no longer my business.” She said fairly primly as she adjusted her jacket and hair. “My boys want to be caught up as child soldiers, they deal with what that entails. I would like to go back to my bed.” The headache had come back in full fury with the addition of this drama and adrenaline.
“You’ll just sleep alone, sleeping off a pity bender and wrapping yourself up in bitter entitlement.” It was the first time she’d actually ever heard David speak. She stared at him. He still looked ready to defend her son, and by that probably put her in the med bay around the corner. His voice was softer than she expected, but no less angry.
“But this isn’t just about your family. And unfortunately mine has only one other surviving member.” A small pause, a grimace. “alright and the clone that got kidnapped out of the past with your son but to be fair I didn’t know about him till very recently.”
She considered many things to say. She just leveled David with a look. “And you can’t even function without that power coin, can you? All three of you are running on fumes and miracles.” She stalked toward the young man, who looked down as she came to him warily. She had to stand on tip-toe to even grab his shoulder and pull him down to her. “But you were dying before gold, weren’t you? You know how I realized Stan had joined the ranks of child canon fodder?”
“Ma, get off of him!”
“Stanley dear shut up mommy is giving your current sex pest a talk.”
David held her gaze steadily, though his jaw and eyes were tight with barely suppressed anger. He smiled at him with all teeth. “I realized he got a color more exacting than orange over the simple fact that while he could suddenly lift half a car over his head without noticing who was watching-he also couldn’t do it without throwing up in the roses. Then when he got was appeared to be temporary tinnitus…well. Course I knew.”
Her grip tightened on David’s shoulder, and if he hadn’t had his suit on, he would have winced with her fingers in the meat of his joint. “Those colors expect nothing but excellence. And they’re not picky how they get it once they get their ranger; they’ll kill you if that’s what it takes to get it. Or draw out your life as far as possible. While eating all of what drew them to you from the jump. They’re parasites.”
He smiled back as the smell of gold coins and minerals surrounded them. “Fine. I’m dying. I might survive, it’s a fifty fifty chance. Gold’s helping me stay alive long enough to actually live. His eyes bored into hers “And here’s another truth. Eugene gave up his color to raise your grandson. Because Spike is your grandson whether you like it or not. We were hoping if we activated orange again it’d bring him here, safe.” He brushed her hand off and stood at his full height. “It didn’t. It brought you.”
A fic I don’t think I’m ever going to finish. I’m just gonna post it here and let it be, it’s sat in my drafts for two and a half years lol

Power Rangers Rewrite: Mighty Morphin'
Season 1 & Background
Because the Boom Comics actually expounds on their backstories, Rita & Zedd have their comics backstories. Rita is specifically from a planet known as Bandora, which has a lot of magical practitioners, including an organized order of witches.
Bandorans are taller than humans, and to a human eye always look a little sickly.
The Power Coins used to belong to a multi planetary team (the Zyu Rangers) with explicitly Alien Zords resembling the 2017 movie. Rita killed the Green Ranger and took that Coin, thus control of the Dragonzord.
The 90’s Zyu Rangers interpreted the Zords on the Coins as artistic renditions of Earth animals, thus minorly reformatting the Zords when they’re finally brought to bear.
Jason actually beats Tommy during their fight like in Zyuranger.
Season 2
Grace Sterling gets introduced, and Zordon tells the story of the 1969 Rangers.
The Stone Canyon Trio are introduced, giving an outside perspective to the Rangers.
Zedd doesn’t arrive…yet. He does send messages to Rita in the form of nightmares.
No Thunderzords, the Zyu/Dino Megazord survives, since I wanna keep the Dairangers (Thunder Star Rangers) in my back pocket.
In the same vein, Tommy doesn’t get the White Tiger Power Coin after losing the Green Power Coin, instead he gets a White Brachiosaurus Power Coin that ties him to Titanus, which itself is reformatted to serve as armor and weaponry for the Zyu Megazord.
Tommy’s Ranger Suit is white and gold, with the MM sculpted mouth helmet and Dragon shield, but with elements of the Dino Thunder Black suit, while Saba is literally just a repainted Bracchio Staff.
Before Tommy comes back, Rita launches the Dark Ranger’s scheme from the comics, which comes to an end once Tommy arrives, destroying the Dark Ranger’s Power Source (A Dark Mockery of a Zeo Crystal?)
The Rita putty escapes, albeit heavily wounded, to fight another day.
Kiya comes to Earth following the Dark Rangers, chasing the power source used. She sticks around for a while.
The first half of the season ends with a final confrontation with Goldar when he attempts to throw Angel Grove into the Dark Dimension during Jason, Trini & Zack’s graduation, and is struck down by Tommy and Jason. The Stone Canyon Trio helps.
Jason, Trini and Zack decide to take a gap year, and are given the Omega Morphers to help Kiya hunt down the source of the knockoff Zeo Crystal, while the Stone Canyon Trio take their places.
Rito arrives afterwards, with some new mercenaries to give the Rangers trouble, including Dayne. Scorpina, meanwhile, leaves, vowing vengeance against the Rangers.
Their adventures include a crossover with the Masked Rider of Edenoi.
The season finale is Zedd’s arrival, Serpentera in tow, and challenges the Rangers to combat.
He destroys the Megazord with Serpentera, before taking them on 1-v-6, rendering the Power Coins useless one after the other, until only Tommy is left with his powers.
Tommy tries, but Zedd captures him, and brings him back to the Moon Castle, leaving the other Rangers to lick their wounds and wallow in their powerlessness.
Season 3
With the Power Coins useless, the Omega Rangers out of contact and Zordon unable to access back-up Ranger powers, Zordon sends the Rangers to Ninjor to create powers of their own.
In the meanwhile, he calls for reinforcements, the Rangers of Aquitar (known as the Doron Rangers), with more on the way.
Zedd sends more monsters to delay the Rangers, and gathers forces fromDark Spector, including Master Vile, to attempt and summon the dark god Lokar from the Talus Dimension.
The Rangers pass Ninjor’s trials and gain their Ninjetti Power Coins and Zords, with all new suits coming with them.
They have elements of the American Ninja Ranger uniforms, the Dairangers, with MM helmets remodeled to reflect their new Zords.
Meanwhile, Tommy is being held by the villains, where he strikes up a friendship with Finster, who eventually helps free him.
During this escape, he finds remnants of the tools used in the corruption of the Green Dragon Power Coin, and takes it.
The Rangers return to Earth and meet the Doron rangers. There’s some chafing, especially between Billy and Cestro, though that rivalry shifts into something more…amorous.
Tommy arrives, Finster by his side and arcane secrets in hand. Finster and Alpha duke it out at least once.
In the background, we’re introduced to new transfer students Tanya Sloan and Kat Hillard. Kat gets mind controlled but it gets broken.
Eventually, Finster, Alpha, Tideus and Delphine figure out how to reactivate the Dragonzord, dormant since the loss of the Green Power Coin, and Tommy uses the power of friendship to bring it back under control.
Master Vile attempts to interfere, but the Rangers strike him down with Ninjor’s help.
Deciding to take advantage, the rangers attack the moon palace, reinforced by the Masked Rider and the Omega Rangers (Now with Yale replacing Kiya)
The Rangers win, destroying Serpentera, and wrecking the moon base, though Lokar is summoned.
In order to seal him, the Mighty Morphin Rangers sacrifice the Ninjetti Power Coins to do so, while Tommy’s powers once again become unstable.
In the aftermath, the rangers disperse. Kim goes off to pursue her gymnastics career, Billy leaves for Aquitar as a representative of Earth, NASADA, and Prometheus.
Aisha also leaves to join humanitarian aid.
Tommy, a bit adrift, decides to stay with Adam and Rocky, and possibly form a new team.
After all, while they did beat them up, they never saw Rita, Rito, or Zedd actually fall…

Part 2 of Power Rangers MM: Tommy’s Accident Part 2
Continued from Part 1…
Summary: The rangers get called from the dojo to go fight putties and a new monster in downtown angel grove at a park. While fighting the rangers try and get an older citizen out of the way and Tommy ends up taking the shot for Billy as he tries to help her but Blackburn draws his attention back to him while Tommy has to help the older citizen.
…Tommy ran and jumped in front of the ray and it took his skills and gave him a nasty black mark on his right rib.
“Tommy!” Billy yelled as he was about to go over to him but the monster kicked him and he had to fight it. “Get her to safety!” He yelled to Tommy while fighting Blackburn. Tommy made his way over to the older woman. “Come with me ma’am.” He spoke to her reassuring her as he got her to safety. “Are you alright young man?” The old woman asked as he got her to safety. “I’m a ranger ma’am, not many worry bout our safety but we worry about yours…I’ll be fine..Now GO!” He spoke to her passing her to other civilians who helped her and hurried and got out of there.
Tommy returned to the fight feeling a little lightheaded but still put up a fight against a putty but was somehow beaten at the last minute. He laid out sprawled on the ground and demorphed in pain as he noticed a black almost like virus goo on his right side. The Rangers all looked at him but quickly finished off the rest of the putties and Blackburn left to return but spoke before he left “Time is ticking for him and my book will soon be finished, just like he will be. I’ll be back Rangers!”
The Rangers demorph and go over to Tommy. “Tommy! You alright man?” Zack spoke crouching down to help him but all Tommy could do is shake his head almost like he didn’t want to get up and groan lightly in pain.
“Guy’s! Look at his side. There’s like some black slime on him.” Trini spoke lifting the side of Tommy’s shirt. She gently touched it and he let out a sharp hiss in slight pain before she felt his forehead.
“He’s burning up with a fever. Whatever this virus is, It’s making him sick based on the way it looks. Let get him back to Alpha and Zordon to see if they can assess what this is on him.” Jason spoke looking at Tommy. Billy helped Tommy up carefully leaning him against him. They all tapped their Morpher and looked up getting teleported to HQ.
Alpha: “Rangers, Ay, yi, yi, yi, yi! What happened?”
Kimberly: “It’s Tommy! He’s been hit by some nasty goo from Blackburn.” She spoke worried as Billy continued to hold Tommy up.
Part 3 and 4 coming soon.

March Prompt Madness
March 10 - comet Power Rangers 2017
The six Rangers sat around the campfire together, but it wasn’t burning. The night sky above them had all of their attention. “So when’s this thing supposed to happen?” Kim asked.
“Any minute,” Billy cheered, clapping his hands. “This comet hasn’t passed Earth in hundreds of years.”
“Seriously?” Zack asked. “Kim you’ve asked that five times now and Billy’s answered the same thing five times. Can you can it?” Kim pouted.
“Trini, tell Zack to leave me alone,” she said. She leaned back against Trini from where she sat on Trini’s lap.
“Zack, leave Kim alone,” Trini said. “And Kim, stop askin’ okay? It’ll happen soon.”
“Now Trini,” Tommy said, “you know Kim is the most impatient person in the world.”
“I am not!” Kim gasped. “Okay…well, maybe I am, but I like to think of it more as…enthusiastic for the passage of time.”
“You’re full of it,” Zack said with a laugh.
“Jase? Ruling?” Tommy asked.
“Kim, you’re impatient,” he said. “Sorry.”
“I see. Everyone is against me!” Kim jabbed her arrow in the air which she had been playing with in her lap. Her bow lay in her lap flat. Trini shrieked.
“Watch where you’re wavin’ that thing!” She cried out. “You almost got me. Again!”
“I did not!”
“Yes, you did!”
“Stop fighting,” Billy said to the two. “You’ll miss the comet.” At the mention, all six looked up again.
“What if we missed it?” Tommy asked, egging the others on.
“No! We can’t!” Billy said in horror. “We won’t have another chance in our lifetimes!”
“Yeah, I didn’t sit out in this cold all night not to see some fiery ball of…space,” Zack said. He leaned over to the cooler and grabbed another bottle of beer, also passing one to Trini. Trini nodded in thanks and popped it open. She reached up and grabbed the arrow from Kim after another near miss.
“Kim, if you don’t-”
“Did we really miss it?” Kim asked. She turned around and tried to get the arrow back from Trini who was holding it as high in the air as she could. “You know my arms are longer than yours,” she said to Trini.
“Don’t poke Trini’s eye out, Kim. We all have training tomorrow and no one is excused for any reason,” Jason said.
“You’d think missing an eye would be a pretty good excuse,” Tommy said, rubbing her chin.
“I am not going to poke Trini’s eye out,” Kim huffed. She reached above Trini and yanked the arrow back. “Mine,” she said, stroking it.
“Zordon’s worst mistake was giving you that weapon,” Zack said, rolling his eyes.
“Really? I thought it was giving you a zord,” Kim shot back, sticking out her tongue.
“Can this thing just happen already?” Trini grumbled. She sipped her beer. “I’m over it.” Then it happened. The butt of Kim’s arrow stabbed Trini in the forehead. “Kim!” She reached up to cover the spot where it hit her. “That hurt!”
“Big baby,” Kim said. “It didn’t hurt that bad.”
“Are you me?!” Trini asked. “Put that damn thing down or go sit with Jason.”
“She’s not sitting next to me,” Tommy said. “Not when she has that in her hands.”
“Kim, you’re not even supposed to have that right now,” Jason pointed out to her. “You’re supposed to leave it on the ship.”
“I told Zordon I needed a little more practice,” Kim said with a shrug.
“Liar,” Zack cackled.
“Kimberly Hart!” Trini barked, after yet again getting poked in the head. “Put that on the ground or we’re breaking up!”
“Ouch,” Tommy jeered. “Way to wear the pants, T!”
“But they’re both wearing pants,” Billy said.
“We did not bring enough beer for this,” Zack said.
“Do we have to make so much noise?” Jason asked.
“Look!” Billy cried out, pointing into the sky. They all fell silent and their heads fell back as the stared up at the sky and watched the comet sail across it. No one even breathed until it was out of sight.
“Wow,” they all gasped.
“That was awesome, B,” Zack said, clapping Billy on the back.
“Rewind it, go again!” Tommy shouted, throwing her fists in the air.
“Oh god,” Jason sighed. “The silence was nice while it lasted.”
“Kim! Get that out of my face!” Trini yelled.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Boom! Retrospective: Issues 4 and 5: The Power Rangers Explode!
It's morphin time once again you happy ranger. TLDR iv'e been covering Boom Studio's Power Rangers for my good patron brotoman.exed in between transformers reviews. This will be the last for a while as I have Transformers One Next month, possibly Transformers: The Movie after, and Transformers: More than Meets the eye returns after. But the power will protect us again in 2025.
For now though we wrap up the round of mighty morphin with a giant cliffhanger and a flashback. And get used to those clliffhangers as Mighty Morphin, both during this run and when Ryan Parrot takes over tends to be one big continuous story. But rather than just.. do power rangers then get back to more than meets the eye in a few years, we're going back and forth so expect a lot of cliffhangers from both.
So to breifly recap for those just joining us, i'll collect the link to this arc in one post later, in an arc set in an alternate timeline where Mighty Morphin takes place in present day but green with evil still happened Tommy laser eyeing bulk and skull into a trashcan and all, Tommy is dealing with his ptsd in the shape of a rita ghost haunting him and hid it from everyone, while the real rita plots her hideous revenge using a mysterous black crystal powered by the green energy. As for everyone else Billy and Trini are hanging out and being good buds, Jason has doubts about tommy, Kimberly is thirsty as hell and Zack is
Constantly bitching about "WELL MAYBE TOMMY'S EVIL GUYS". And spoilers despite being called out on it he only gets worse in this one now he thinks he's been proven right. And on top of all of this, Rita has hyjacked the dragonzord and sent it the rangers way. And shit's only gonna get worse as we see how our heroes save the day only to still loose while we find out WHY Zack won't shut up.
So we begin the issue with the dragonzord having wrecked a cruise ship. There were some surivors but scorpina defintely just killed some people. Unless that boat was just haunted then the ghosts are fine.
Point is shit is bad as the dragonzord is headed for land and our heroes head to stop it.. minus tommy who Jason benches.. not unfarily given you know, the untreated ptsd he just confessed to and the fact the one strategy Tommy does have, telport into the cockpit, isn't available.
The rangers strategy after a badass looking half page of the zords
Such a cool panel. I've given this comic's art some crap but it's megazord art is incredible. So their solution is rather than you know, form the megazord since last time they fought the dragonzord it was on par with it they ... use their zords to drag it into the sea to hang out with godzilla and cthulu.
Rita is actually ready for this as she NEEDS the dragonzord to kill people so she has finster... send a bunch of generic shark monsters and make them grow because.. rita can do more than one at a time now?
Look i'm not the kind of nerd who goes nitpicking every minuta of a plot. I like to analize stuff yes, find deep meanings, character arcs, that sort of thing. I'll poke fun at stuff I don't like, i'll call it out but I try not to nitpick. There's stuff in power rangers like "Why don't they just call the zords right away", "why dosen't rita make her monster grow right away" i'm willing to handwave or can be explained in a more grounded take like this. This very comic , in the only issue i've read besides this arc pre-ryan parro, has a great issue we'll get to in a few years i'm sure that explains WHY Zordon picked 5 teenagers with atittude instead of experinced adults. I'm not saying it's not fun to try and fill said holes with your own theroes, but it's weird to mock a show with a pumpkin rapper. Some later power rangers series do deserve more praise and scruitny but mighty morphin is camp personified so it can get away with weird lore swings.
This series takes it seriously.. and thus really can't jus tsay "oh finster could always make more and didn't because shut up" I dont' mind saying he can do that.. but you have to explain HOW. Rita building a new dragon dagger made sense and they gave it the limit of being far more unstable. This is just plot convience and the comic just proved with said dagger twist it can do better.
So with Rita pulling out the cheat codes, our heroes are in a bind, angle grove's about to be attacked and Tommy is getting impatient.. and for the final time has a confrontation with his PTSD Ghost... and it's confirmed that I was right, I had genuinely forgotten but yeah.. PTSD Rita..is just that.
It's a great scene and pays off the PTSD Ghost rita well: doe sit mean all of Tommy's problems are solved? No. It isn't that easy and I don't think the comic is implying "oh well solving your PTSD is just as easy as confronting it". But it is right in that simply burying trauma.. dosen't fix it and from personal experince same with self loathing. The only way to deal with it is to face it head on. It's.. honestly inspired me a bit. I may not like this comic on the whole.. but it has it's moments of greatness.
So Tommy decides fuck it, he's going to ingnore jason's orde rand go to help. Zordon.. isn't so sure, partly because he knwos damn well this will rattle the stick firmly planted up Jason's ass, and partly because he's worried about the ptsd ghost. Granted Tommy could've given him more than "I'ts handled now", but what I like is this isn't Tommy trying to prove something entirely. This isn't a one side thing: Zordon is right this is going against his friend and commander and that's going to have consequences.. but Tommy's right that if he CAN save lives, he has to. No question.
So Tommy ports in directly on top of the dragon zord to try and control it proving Tommy Oliver being the biggest badass of any reality he's in is a multiversal constant. This gets him bucked off the thing but kim catches him in what I feel's also a sweet moment. While Sure Tommy could've just been winging it, given his next step it feels like he KNEW kim could catch him and tells jason he has a plan to just trust him. Jason reluctantly agrees and Tommy... well TOmmy tops himself
FUCK YES. The climax here is awesome as the rangers take down generic shark man while Tommy takes down scorpina. She does the normal villian bragging "It's too late" "our plans can't be stopped" and tommy just.. breaks her dagger stopping the zord while the rangers can this fish.
Back at the center though.. it's sadly not a happy ending. Jason at his limit with Tommy is pissed he defied him. Tommy does make a valid point: he wona nd had no hallucinations.. but he is being a bit of a dick basically saying "We won shut the fuck up" instead of being apologetic that he broke orders.. but still making his point. Still he does try to walk away, and while dickish it PROBABLY would'e solved things. The divide would've festered a bit... but cooling down and not biting each others heads off was the right call. Jason however.. just can't let it go saying we're not done. Which they arne't, Tommy is being a dick but as i've learned when your getting into a really heated fucking argument sometims it's best to take a break and circle back later. Don't ignore it, running away, as we established in this arc, dosen't help either, but the two of them bickering over whose right isn't going to help anyone. Unfortunately.. SOMEBODY DOSEN'T AGREEEEEEEEE
I will lay into this bitch in a second, but as a DIRECT RESULT OF HIS ACTIONS, Jason and Tommy resume their fight, Tommy is a petulant ass saying jason isn't a good leader, which apart from not adressing the zack thing better, isn't true, and Jason wonders if they really need 5 while Zordon begs his kids to stop fighting.. and as they prepare to throw hands.. the crystal is fully powered. The villians have won: the black dragon.l.. is awake and the comman dcenter explodes as Jason has the rangers put their helmets on and we meet the big bad this has all been building towards , the black dragon
Yeah while he is intimdating to a point... his deisgn is so damn generic and clashing with power rangers as a whole , like the other monsters it feels like a let down. We'll see if he gets better next year.
For now though... let's circle back to why this is Zack's fault and why i'm tired of his bullshit. Tommy was walking away. Tommy was a doucheballon, I havne't sugar coated it, but he was walking away.. ZACK is the one who grabbed him and ZACK is the one whose been doubting tommy, constnatly assuming he's evil, being a prized asshole. Jason's only leadership failing is not recognizing that and reining it in, telling Zack it's okay to have some doubts but to TRY or having the two talk it out. The last part's a bit understandable given how much has been going on, but Jason KNEW Zack was constantly being a dick to tommy, was saying shit behind his back, being passive agressive as fuck did nothing, and then ends up fighting his new friend because of that. Zack didn't START the fight, both tommy and jason share blame, tommy for his ego, jason for not accepting tommy made a good call and sometimes the rangers need to make a hard call by themselves. Being a team means both respecting your leader AND knowing when to break rank if it saves lives. On those two arguing it's well done: Tommy seroiusly rankled Jason by not telling him then disobeying while Tommy solving his issues dosen't solve his tendency to lash out, he just switched targets from himself to Zack, who deserved it and Jason, who didn't entirely.
But Zack's petty grudge against Tommy, his refusal to belelive tommy was a victim and not evil because of his own backstory, his own moment of weakness we'll get to caused it to escalate. It's fine to be wary, tommy was hiding serious hallucinations from everyone and his own doubts, and while he had reason to, he shoudl've been honest. Tommy did get cocky and did defy jason. But Zack isn't doing this because he's jason's friend he's doing this becauasse he WATNS tommy to be evil, wants to pick a fight with him and has ever since zordon recurited him. Billy and Trini have doubts, but genuinely tried to be welcoming: Billy apparently also put Tommy in their group notifications and Trini had that nice heart ot heart last issue. Kim is the most welcoming due to her crush but tried. Jason has clear doubts that explode here, but tried. Zack didn't give a fuck, was a petulant toddler and now the whole team is going to pay for his bullshit. The character gets way better under Ryan Parrot thankfully and will HOPEFULLY get some development from this debacle, but for this first Arc zack is easily the worst part: I don't mind having a ranger doubt tommy, but they take it WAY too far with Zack who spends the entire arc being a giant dick then caps it off by causing the next one. Fuck.. this.. dude.
Now I will say this last issue of the arc proper.. is pretty damn good. The conflict that ultimately leads to the bad guys winning is well built up and I like it more on this read through: Jason has shown to be way too far up his own ass in trying to be leader, and Tommy has shown to have a loner streak, so both's actions, Jason taking Tommy's last ditch move personally and Tommy being a spiteful dick and then getting utterly pissed Jason keeps having Zack's back all feel natural. Zack still sucks, the three sharks thing makes no sense.. but the rest of the issue IS pretty great and does give me hope when we get back to power rangers, i'll enjoy it more. That Higgins simply needed time to sort things out or was building his story slowly.
This first arc.. still has issues but their more structural: boom shoudl've just started from scratch instead of trying to dance between the raindrops of ranger history, though it does a decent job of it and would sustain 100 issues, so it worked out in the end, but I still feel the fresh start their doing now is a good call. Let them use the wide canvas instead of just the most profitable one. But it's not as bad as I remembered.. which I know, it's faint praise, but there's a lot more good character work than I remembered: Zack aside, the other rangers all feel like distinct well built indviduals building their sterotypes from the show out into something: Jason is a scott summers style leader, good at what he does tactically, carring for his men, but also with a tendency to expect military precision and obdience when that's just not always fesable. Kimberly is sassy, won't hestiate to confront her friends on their shit, but warm and kind. Trini is the team's heart, helping both billy and tommy with their self doubt issues and wanting to help the world as a whole. And Billy is the brains but is self concious, knowing he's the only one in the team whose not a trained martial artist or gymnist. Zack is an ass but at the bare minimum the next issue gives us context for that, showing he has a deep well of resentment and is quick to anger. It's not good still, and I hope the character grows and I prefer Ryan Parrot's take, but I appricate fleshing these 6 teenagers with attitude out as people. I've been hard on this book and might be again, but I respect what it does right and hope it fixes what it does wrong.
So onto our last issue. It's a flashback that takes place one month before Tommy arrived. The prime minister of italy is speaking out against Rita.
Now THIS... this is really neat. I like this idea: that while yes Rita tends to target one american town's abandoned warehouse district constantly, other countries probably WOULD have throughts on giant fucking monsters being real. Honestly it woul'dve been neat if we saw how other countries responded, maybe saw some try to make their own rangers, though that last part at least DOES get used much later in the continuity. But this little snippet is still fun as is Rita's response. After sending more generic monsters with no real creativity previously we FINALLY get a goodun.
That my friends is leonado da vinchi's vitruvian man, which I and you likely know better as this
See THIS is the kinda camp we were missing. I'm not asking the monster break tension, but i'm asking for some creativity. Just throwing a generic monster or a shark, and I love me some sharks, at the rangers is boring and you could do better. now throwing a fucking da vinci design at them spouting out generic quotes Squatt and Baboo got off the internet as it attacks italy with twin swords and a crossbow. Fuck yes. And it's still intimdating. Rome is still in deadly danger and this thing still comes off dangerous. But you can have fun and make a threat for your heroes. It's what I love about superheroes; you can have dark gritty stories dealing with police shooting a masked criminal they unleahsed to cover their tracks and getting away with it or a ghostly highway man who hates the poor who has to be defeated by batman using a magic ritual with alfred's help. BOTH of those are plots from the recent series Batman Caped Crusader, which slaps by the way, and both work swimingly. Even in a moody work you can have camp and when your heroes are the power rangers.. it's kinda demanded. It's why I hope while this new reboot seems serious it still has some fun with it.
Our heroes head to italy to fight the giant naked man.The finish is also awesome. The Vitruvian man is about ot kill the prime minister so jason leaps out of the cock pit, also a nice parallel to tommy leaping in last issue, and fucking stabs the bitch. Tommy may be the supreme badass of all power rangers universes, but Jason is easily #2. Carter Grayson is #3 of course.
Zack also gets a moment of triumph out of this, piloting the zord, and I like the touch that it's shown doing so isn't easy, it requires them all working in concert and thus zack filling in for both himself an djason with a killer swipe is impressive. Sadly.. he gets no credit and stews a bit as Jason did the flashier heroics.
So as Goldar admits they already have a sequel in the works, Rita decides nah... she notices Zack's quiet stewing.. and has an idea. So the next afternoon Zack is kidnapped by putties and brought to fog machine dimension from Green with Evil. Rita is being nice.. which can't be good and it's not: She tries to play zack admitting she only did so because he wouldn't likely come to hear her out willingly and wants to show him her place. Which is creepy given she's a grown ass woman and he's a teen, but I feel the predator vibes are intetnional without overplaying them or making them actual text.
Zack to his credit.. dosen't buy her sales pitch that she's misunderstood, the world would be better than her and Goldar's entirley bs claim she didn't start growing monsters until Zordon pulled out zords. Especially since... most rangers are linked to some set of Zords. While zordon didn't build his, most ranger teams are both some sort of ancient force and have zords attached from the get go or linked to them in some way. I mean there are wild ones from wild force wondering the world at this point. So Rita, especially since they fought before, KNEW Zordon had them and Zordon knew she could lkely make them grow. it was an even repsonse and Zack figured it out without any of that evidence.
Rita does try to make a good pitch: that yeah she wants to conquer the world.. but to make it better. Is it really that good without her? It's a great sequence too as she tempts him, shwoing a vision of him and the green ranger. She even sympathizes: she knows what it's like to be an underated second in command, a nod to Zed before he properly debuts after the time skip and something I like: while working in the confines of the original show limits the series slightly... it also means they have the whole map: everything that will happen and things they never built up to because the show was only lightly seralized: having strong continuity but only occasional story arcs before season 3. They ddin't plan for zed, master vile or rito. But they can hint at that, hint at dark specter or other future events and other rangers.
Zack things about it and decides.. nope. not going to betray his friends and tries to yoink the dragon coin away. Zack does go straight to Zordon which explains why the others didn't know during green with evil. I'ts also why again I wish they'd adapte dit: it would've been a decent starting point and while most fans know it, ther'es a lot you could do to deepen the character and stakes. Still it works:W hile Zordon is midlly stupid for not telling them about the power coin.. it makes sense he'd be careful.. and is also being respectful knowing Zack's probably ashamed they came to him. Zack in turn is honest: he WAS tempeted by the power and the good it could do for the world, and Zordon assures him, as a good mentor should that he's only human: of course he considered it, what matters is he didn't and zack honestly wants to DO more, again setting up the peace confrence that'll never happen here. And Zordon to his credit agrees they should, he just has to think it over. Unintended consequences and all that.
So I do like this explination: that zack was offered the coin, reseted and thus resents tommy as he probably assumes he wasn't so easy and is projecting his own insecurties about nearly saying yes. It dosen't fix things: Zack is still a giant ass even with that explination as he's projecting all his bullshit on tommy instead of empathizing with him and using this incident to help assure his new teaamate. Zack still sucks.. but this does show the potetial for the character when given some more depth and that he could be fleshed out well if given the chance.
It ends sweetly though... Zack goes to meet the others who welcome him and praise him for what he did, making it clear their a team... Jason may of gotten the glory but they needed each other. A shame neither jason nor Zack remembered this lesson, but it's some good irony. We also end on another om inous hook, the black dragon talking to rita saying the green ranger will fail.. and when he does.. he'll be waiting as Rita plans to grab tommy.
So now for Bulk and Skull which to my delight is not ending after 6 issues. We pick up from last time as trini and Kim despatch the putty.. as they shoudl've. Like again your martial artists, it's fesable. But they use baskeptball. and spot bulk used some of the same streamers on the putty as he did on himself, so not only are the girls pissed.. but our heroes.. get arrested.
We gloss over Bulk and Skull go to jail sadly, but it's compesnated for by something truly awesome I forgot happened a sthis was the last issue I read monthly before giving up. (I also tried the trade later and thus didn't even get this far). So the judge sentences our heroes to 1993 hours of community service, a bit excessive.. but also a fair punishment given their jackassery would've gotten someone who wasn't a power ranger hurt bad and I like said judge, the principal's brother, 's logic: thedy want to be heroes, they get an actual shot at it. And their officer monitoring this? LT STONE
For those who forgot him, Lt Stone was Bulk and Skull's boss in season 3. Our heroes joined the junior police to meet women, and Stone thus served as their straight man. Stone would actually last a shockingly long time, being their boss still in Zeo and running a juice bar in turbo for some reason. So it's a neat way to get him in early, with Bulk still afraid of him this early, clearly havnig met him before. It's a fun way to bring in a character from later that makes perfect sense and frankly our heroes having a straight man does help their comedy. They work fine without one, but with the rangers kinda busy unless your giving them a bigger story, putting stone against them is great.
So that's MMPR for now. We'll be back I assume next year for more, and i'll see if it improves. For now may the power protect you and thanks for reading.

For the sending lyrics and you’ll make a fake wip summary;
If I could only get back to yesterday,
Today would be a perfect day
If I could only get back to yesterday,
Oh, the different things I'd do and say
I'd be so good to you
If I had a second chance
Yes, I would (Yes, I would)
Yes, I would

Summary:
The Emissaries realized their mistake, just before Kiya had slaughtered Blue and set forth the Orange Empyreal on the Prime universe. Drakkon deserved a punishment for all his misdeeds, but perpetual solitary confinement wasn't the way to do it. They could shift the balance of Power throughout the cosmos if the Grid deems it necessary, why not shift other things? So it went like this: The Red Emissary removed the toxic will of the Green Dragon from Drakkon, the Yellow Emissary removed his memories, and the Blue Emissary removed everything that made him a threat by turning back the clock and arranging a meeting with the World of the Coinless; an infant Tommy Oliver in hand, naked and confused and not quite a week old. They gathered the surviving Rangers--including the ones Zordon made a grave error in excluding--in the throne room and set the child on a table with the proclamation that it was them that would decide on what constituted justice. When they vanished, leaving the child behind, there was the mounting horror that came with it; showcasing that there was little left of what one would call mercy, with suggestions such as doing as mankind did centuries ago in leaving the infant in a vase out in the elements, or sending it away to the courts of the united planetary systems that also wanted a crack at Drakkon. Or simply setting the newborn on its stomach to let it stop breathing.
The real horror came from only Skull stepping forward when the child--he was an infant, like so many that he'd pulled out of the rubble and spirited to the others in the Coinless--mewled pitifully with the chill of the air and the man wrapped him up in his sentry's cape. (Skull was always meant to be a parent. And Orange is always benevolent in its choices. Even in enraged and in want of vengeance.)
*
(Just for fun; a little theoretical excerpt below the cut)
He was thirty-eight, worn down to a thread, and feeling a little disgusted and fed up with just about everyone. Why bother defending choices that were going to be torn to shreds because nobody was willing to look beyond their own feelings of revenge and the unfairness of it all? Why bother looking for help even in the face of a bestfriend that had been so far away for two decades? (It probably wouldn't have hurt as much if he was as heartless and disgusting as everyone seemed to think he was. There was something akin to despairing familiarity in that.) Continuing his tramp along train tracks that had not been used since before The Final Battle, the long stretch of them familiar even after years, Skull tried to ignore how heavy the bag he'd brought along was, how his eyes were starting to become sore from the receding sun--as well as his trying not to embarrass himself with tears--and made sure his grip along wrap sling he'd had to fashion out of curtains was secure. Taking his eyes off of the horizon and tracks, just for a moment, Skull looked down again at the little bundle that had caused such a hubbub and breaking of any sort of civility. The barest traces of brown hair soft to the touch, skin much darker than it had been over the last few years, tiny little hands curling into Skull's shirt as the little hazel eyes twitch under petal soft lids in sleep. Tommy Oliver, reduced to a foundling that couldn't have been more than a week old; not even five pounds and completely helpless at at the mercy of every other being on the planet. For some reason the unfairness that everyone else seemed to feel didn't come to Skull. Not even the feeling of being cheated. He wouldn't pretend he understood it. Like he wouldn't pretend he couldn't hear the slightest steps of someone that had been trailing behind him for a good hours. "You really shouldn't be following me, Adam. What would Rocky and Aisha say?" He turned gently, not swaying and careful not to suggest vertigo in his own exhaustion, and looked over to the trees along the tracks that came part and parcel with the wilderness taking back the earth far faster than anyone would have guessed so long ago. It took a moment, not even three seconds, but exactly where his eyes were trained, grey and piercing as any wild animal, the tree branches in full green parted, the tall grass parting against knees as Adam Park loped out of his carefully hidden place and tried very hard not to look...embarrassed? ...And also like he wasn't obviously carrying a much bigger pack along his shoulders that was at least twice the size of the one his former captain carried.

HI HELLO YES HERES A RESURFACING CHILDHOOD MEMORY THAT IM OBSESSING OVER AGAIN!
During my last Power Rangers hyperfix (when i was 11-13 maybe?) I made a team called Power Rangers Jungle Thunder. As far as I know, it never went past the initial concept besides doodles on my school notes, as I didn’t know how to draw humans at the time.
Brace yourselves because this is a very rare loooong text post from me.
So here’s everything I remember about it along with some new stuff me and some buddies came up with!
Jungle Thunder was basically a cross between some of Megaforce’s mechanics and the ranger colors along with Jungle Fury’s theming. The Ranger’s attacks were likely magic based.
Their headquarters was this massive temple shrine ish place deep inside a distant jungle.
The colors and Zords were as followed: Red Jaguar, Blue Cobra, Yellow Macaw, Pink Cheetah, Black Lemur. They were kept in what was basically the temple’s backyard/back garden?
The bad guys were this reptilian ailen race called the Sintonians who understandably trying to take over Earth like every other Power Rangers villain. They interestingly used the traits and morphing energy of past Ranger teams to make each episode’s bad guy. The main antagonist was this dude called Lord Fury who I don’t remember a whole lot about. Other than he was blue.
The sixth ranger was this nonhuman White Ranger, who the team affectionately nicknamed “Buddy.” I forgot what animal he was, but he was created by the Sintonians to attack our heroes with. Of course, they end up befriending him. He had feral form that I’m struggling to remember how it worked, if any?
And the Pink Ranger’s name was Emmie. That’s the only one of the human Rangers whose name I can remember.
Ok. That’s all the original stuff 12yo Daring came up with. She got the concept down, now it’s time for all all the new juicy lore and tweaks. :3
The mentor/sensei character is this tree/dryad deity called Mother Gaia. (Kinda basic but it’s what me and the squad on discord decided on) She’s rooted to the center of the temple (name of said temple still pending) and is very curious about modern humanity, as she hasn’t seen humans in over a thousand years. Also she’s like a mom to them because I love found family dynamics ok
Another supporting character will be Esteban, a jungle spirt who is essentially Mother Gaia’s assistant. Basically Alpha-5’s role compared to Zordon. Don’t know what he’s gonna look like yet, but he’ll be a big help to the Rangers by teaching them their new abilities.
The Zords are pretty interesting. They all look like normal animals apart from the fact their eyes are their respective Ranger’s color. They’re actually the Spirt Guardians, who were sent by Gaia to find the Rangers. Each animal can transform into a giant Zord upon their Ranger’s command. Makes the back garden thing much more manageable if they’re not always giant robots.
If Jungle Thunder were an actual show, there’d sometimes be bumpers before and after commercial breaks with cool jungle and animal facts. :)
Buddy will likely have a basilisk or some type of reptile as his animal, being able to run really fast and stick to walls. Basically he’s the fucked up cryptid the team ends up adopting and I love him.
Ok. so here’s what I have of the lore and basic gist of the first episode. It’s still a wip so bear with me here✨
Long long ago, an ancient civilization in the jungle worshiped Mother Gaia and the Spirt Guardians. All was peaceful until Lord Fury (another deity) attacks, as he was very jealous that he wasn’t getting any attention. Gaia, Estaban and the Spirt Guardians managed to seal Lord Fury away deep underground, but not after he and his army had driven away and destroyed most of said civilization in an intense battle. The jungle itself had to be sealed off from the rest of world so Gaia could maintain the sealing spell that kept Fury at bay.
Fast forward to modern day. (dunno if it’s gonna be in 2024 or mid 2000s)
The Sintonian aliens land on Earth looking for a place to stay, and find the chasm in which Fury had been sealed. They make a deal with Fury, agreeing to follow him in exchange for their services, as they knew how to harness Morphing Energy. This pleases Fury greatly, as he may have a chance at getting vengeance on Gaia and humanity.
Gaia gets news of this and sends the Spirt Guardians to find five descendants of the past civilization with pure hearts to be the next heroes. Unbeknownst to five midwestern college students on a hiking trip, their lives are about to change. Their names are Reno, Isiah, June, Emmie, and Braxton.
The Jaguar Guardian steals the soon-to-be Red Ranger’s backpack. They are led by the animal guardians into a cave that is later how they get to and from the jungle. They meet Mother Gaia and Esteban, who explain the whole situation. After learning they were indeed not getting sacrificed, they agree to serve Gaia and protect humanity. Anything to get away from student loans tbh.
Spirt Guardians proceed to beam spiritual power into them via a ritual. Totally not trauma inducing at all. This power is how the Rangers morph, or are alerted to any of Fury’s shenanigans via Gaia’s telepathic power.
After some more debriefing from Tree Mother and her son, the newly formed Rangers get an alert. The Sintonians are terrorizing the local park in their generic midwestern town. The Rangers suit up and use their super cool new magic powers to kick some butt! :D Hooray!
Ok. Wow. That was a lot of words.
There are still some holes and other things I missed but that’s pretty much everything! It’s always so fun to find something I made as a kid and breathe new life into it! As if I didn’t have enough Ocs already :’) will soon be thinking of everyone’s designs.

misc thoughts on Issue #114 -
= all those characters in the introduction that will barely play any sort of part in the actual event. Including Rocky and Adam!
= (And I mean, I wasn't expecting all of these characters to have some plot relevance. But compared to say, Shattered Grid, who managed to incorporate many Rangers from across the series in a way that felt they were contributing without taking too much focus away from the main players, I just don't understand what the point of these guys are besides "look! it's the guy from the show! enjoy them saying their names before they end up corrupted, I guess")
= Phantom Ranger drops another comment referencing how a shattering might happen so yeah this "Billy shatters the Grid" end was definitely a lot more shoved in our faces than I thought it was
= The Finster monster last issue was fine but we did not need Finster monster scenes two issues in a row. Especially when this scene was way longer than Plastique's and feels like it was only done to show off Hyperforce's Megazord. (The monster here also wasn't as fun or as unique a design as Plastique's was.) This is what I mean by the series feeling redundant; because similar concepts and dialogue get repeated in consecutive issues. The only interesting part about it was. well.
hahahahahahahha I'M NOT MAD I'M NOT MAD
= M*tt moping about how Tommy's capture is ALLLLL his fault in front of Tommy's grieving girlfriend god shut the fuck up
= Dark Specter still being like "hahaha, the White Light was designed to never turn evil, let's test that >:)" [fails at turning him evil] "wtf why didn't he turn evil?????????" is still funny but probably not in a way that's intentional. Also I like how ML's review pointed out that he technically DOES have White Rangers under his control at this point (though it's safe to assume the White Light is entirely different and special compared to other White Ranger powers)
= The scene with Zordon and Phantom Ranger was nice. It's a shame we never got more of their relationship
= It kind of sucks now knowing that this whole "go retake Safehaven so we can get into the Grid and find the Emissaries/Morphin Masters" plot will turn out to be for nothing (except for Ranger Slayer's return and I guess a few side characters ending up captured). I don't mind plotlines that end in failure for the heroes but it's another thing that lends into the "this event needed to pad out a whole year" vibe. I'll probably get more into this in the next few collections of notes

What if the "hexagon" thing happened instead of Ninja Storm?
Ooh boy this was a long one, kinda went crazy with this but enjoy ✨✨✨✨
-Takes places soon after Forever Red due to Tommy getting a little weary from the machine empire's short-lived return. The other Reds get a little involved but Tommy himself eventually takes control.
-Getting old mentors and some government officials they make a team of sorts. Well the reason why Hexagon is made was to have a specific team up to call when big threats in space and on earth occur, they needed a specific team so contacting Billy and Ninjor they get together to make new morphers based on both their ninja powers and the elements.
-Ninjor has them also connected to animal motifs, well that of ancient zords locked away(Liveman was actually what inspired the motif in the Hurricanger so lets say their team adapted here were the original owners). Of course Tommy seeks out a team, he settles with the following, Scott as the red ranger, Flynn as the blue ranger and Summer as the yellow ranger.
-All three of them have their own upbringing, Scott was already brought in via the military due to his dad but wanted something bigger to show that he wasn't a disappointment. Flynn is eager to be a hero and didn't want to pass up this opportunity of possibly going through space as well, Summer felt as if she needed the experience but also her lofty connections were used since she really wanted to try out being a ranger.
-the season shows the team working well while also having to abide by the rules of Hexagon. Getting some cameos of old teams, but also learning about their ninja like power and growing a little skeptical about Hexagon as a whole. Things hit the fan when two sealed powers of thunder and lightning are stolen, Ninjor was killed trying to keep them concealed and the culprits have yet to be found.
-its revealed that it was Ziggy the Crimson Ranger and Dillon the Navy Ranger both taken in by the new UAE as dark rangers. They both have their own reasons for aiding the villains of this season.
-Ziggy's family or lack there of with the orphanage he grew up with were killed during Tommy's green ranger rampage a few years ago prompting a hatred for both him and rangers as they just took him in without consequence so seeing the man on such a high position makes his blood boil. Dillon and Tenaya were also a part of the orphanage but Tenaya was only placed in a coma due to her injuries.
-taking their chances they went on Terra Venture in hopes to find some planet or known group that would be able to take in some humans that were looking to get a big of revenge and luckily they joined a small faction of ninjas working with the new united alliance of evil. Within one of their tasks they were sent to fight Ninjor which proved to be a tough fight but they caught him off guard and stole the morphers thus becoming rangers. This new leader of the UAE also tasked the two with fighting minor threats on earth before other ranger teams could handle it.
-this was done in order to shift perception to make it seem as if these mysterious rangers were actually their allies, in return it caused a few teams to have a few arguments and after all the conflicts Hexagon was thrown into chaos. For the next arc of the season the main team with Scott, Flynn and Summer also began questioning few things about where their help was getting them, the argument about "which side are you on" continued to grow only uglier and they were placed in the crossfire as the past ranger teams started fighting.
-Tommy himself developed a new power disc during the little war, he used an old swallow animal zord that Ninjor didn't prioritize and also took in some of the latent energy from Zordon's energy wave to tap into pure energy from the grid thus making the green samurai ranger morpher. This in return drew in a certain old ally of Ninjor to the planet, Dulcea. With Tommy as the new green ranger she decided that since earth nearly got taken apart during the ranger war that she'd become the new mentor.
-As things start to regain some normality Tommy is eventually bombarded with targeted attacks by Ziggy and Dillon until they reveal what happened. He nearly gets taken out if it wasn't for the three main rangers stopping the two and bringing them into custody. While on a ranger trial with Hexagon they are pestered with questions and how could they cause such distress yet they shoot back with any guilt rangers feel from their damage done to cities, the lives they ruin and also the idea of idolizing false justice in the world. Zordon erased a bunch of lives but were they all inherently evil? Did he brainwash a bunch of people into a set idea of good he had, it makes everyone especially Tommy question the idea behind themselves being rangers.
-They escape but instead kind of become anti hero like forces for the Hexagon team. Still having a rivalry feeling for Tommy(specifically Ziggy giving off a sort of green on green standoff for this what if scenario), Dillon gets to visit Tenaya who with Hexagon's aid were able to stabilize her condition. Due to the hatred of Tommy simmering for Dillon Ziggy ends up feeling betrayed and goes back to the UAE.
-The UAE itself is actually ran by a leader known as "The Enchantress". The Enchantress's true identity is that of Kimberly Hart, well a variant from a different universe who had to experience a more destructive and sinister version of Tommy. She ended up falling into The Void and getting corrupted by the dark energy there from dead dimensions and such, slowly gazing into other universes with various Tommy Oliver's, one was home to that of Lord Drakkon and even the Ranger Slayer. It was settled that in her mind the multiverse along with the Grid itself had cracks in it, issues that needed to be settled and in her eyes she could be the one to fix it.
-the biggest issue being Tommy, finding a portal a after many years she ended up in the main universe and with her new powers took under a pseudonym being The Enchantress. She'd eat away at Tommy's guilt and and with all the infighting from the rangers occurring she'd be able to utilize the grid's influx of energy to pretty much delete his existence overall. The final arc deals with each of the ranger teams getting captured except for Hexagon, their powers were being siphoned off to The Void so Kim could connect it to the grid and do her plan, on the planet where the final showdown takes place we see the six rangers have some internal struggles against Kim as she closes in on Tommy.
-they were all brought here due to the impact of power rangers and with Tommy's influence he managed to get them all weaved in on his own issues. She felt some pity for Ziggy and Dillon due to their situation hence why she wanted to help them enact their revenge but even then they feel a little betrayed on both ends, Scott, Flynn and Summer were all in it to do some good with the world but were exposed to some of the harsher sides in being a ranger and even then they didn't really feel directed off the main idea of trying to help people. Tommy on the other hand thought about the other versions of himself out there...he couldn't really be held liable for their actions but again just seeing how much of an impact he has amongst other worlds, it all makes him feel conflicted.
-Eventually both this version of Kim and Tommy would go into The Void to deactivate the effects of her plan but in the aftermath they were both caught in the explosion, they took in the energy from this and a sort of pseudo z wave goes off throughout the grid. This caused any of the world that his evil counterparts destroyed to be rebuilt and any of those dark counterparts(like drakkon) would be purged from existence.
-Tommy himself would die from this but he'd be turned into a sort of ranger emissary swearing to go from universe to universe keeping keeping eye on the other versions of himself promising Kimberly that he'd do what he does best, being a hero when it duty calls.
-Kimberly on the other hand was purified of the dark energy and decided to go out to explore other universes. Live the life that was robbed of her years ago, maybe even rebuild her own world.
-With that the remaining Hexagon rangers freed the teams and there was a memorial placed in for any lives lost along with Tommy's own sacrifice. Hexagon itself would be ran by Scott as the organization eventually evolved into new factions such as SPD, Flynn went on to continue being a ranger as he had fun helping everyone, Summer kinda settled down retiring from the ranger business so that she she embark on a few new adventures awaiting her. Tenaya eventually woke up to Dillon's surprise and with that they went with Ziggy to see what they missed on earth.
This season kind of acts as both a little semi finale to the Zordon and Fox Era overall but also opening up a new path for the Disney era. Kimberly’s design and stuff here also kinda takes some inspo from Salem in RWBY👌🏾

I loved a Cosmic Fury but I wished that Amelia's mom could been in it and not just only a picture of her mom, her dad and her baby sister, Poppy. I really felt like after Ollie had turned Evil that Amelia would have realized that she was in a toxic relationship and that she deserved better. I really not think that Ollie really learned his lesson because he seemed to be more concerned how Amelia felt about him when he was evil but he never wondered about the same thing about his mom. I wished he was unable to reconnect to the Morphing grid after he was evil because that would be interesting storyline for the Power Ranger since every Ranger that were evil were still able to morph after they turned from evil to good. I wished that Ollie had stayed evil because of his personality fits more being an villian then being a power Ranger. Amelia was unable to turn Ollie back to the good side that proves there was no real feelings bewteen Amelia and Ollie. I noticed that after Oliie tuned back to good he never apologized to Amelia for harming her and attacking her and he also never apologized to the other Rangers. It was easy for him to become a Villian because he has a toxic personality. I wished that Amelia and Ollie would have realized that they also had a toxic relationship when Solon said that what a toxic relationship looks like when they were watching Lord Zedd living out his nightmare on the Plant Zordonia because he was evil and that Amelia realized that she deserved better. I loved that Amelia's dad was in Cosmic Fury and it so clear how much her dad loves her. I love that Javi never gave up on his after he got used to his Robotic arm and I found it interesting that Javi's Robotic arm was made out of Rafkonian Technology and Amelia happens to Rafkonian. Javi had encouraged Amelia as leader and respected her as a leader for Rangers. I felt like Ollie didn't especially when he had made the comment about her not having a plan. When he said the mean thing about Amelia being the red Ranger he said because he believed it not because he was evil. His Toxicity showed alot when he was evil so who knows what else he could said to Amelia. I loved that Amelia still supported Javi with his music and it seemed Amelia was more worried about Javi especially when he had losted his arm then she seemed to worried. She wanted Ollie back and it was clear especially when she was around Javi she seemed to not think about Ollie so I don't think she missed Ollie so much she said she did. I feel like there was more bewteen Javi and Amelia then was bewteen Amelia and Ollie. I loved even at end Amelia wanted to go Ghost hunting especially when se found out about Zordon but she never mentioned to Ollie but she mentioned to Aiyon, Mick, and Billy. I am going to imagine that Amelia had came to realize that Ollie would never changed, he was always toxic, she deserved better, she ended things with him for good and that eventually Amelia and Javi had ended up getting together. They would ended up dating each other for a while, and then they would ended up getting married to each other. They would always continue to encourage and supports each other with their passions that they got and they would ended up having their own family someday.
#power ranger cosmic fury#power ranger dino fury#amelia and Ollie= toxic relationship#amelia and javi= healthy relationship#red cosmic ranger#black cosmic fury#loved cosmic#prefer all of the Amelia and Javi's scenes in cosmic fury over Amelia and Ollie's scenes in cosmic fury.#my imagination for how Cosmic Fury could have ended.

Rise of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - The White Rangers
Lord Zedd has gained his new body and attacked the Power Rangers at their Command Center, intent on destroying them and their precious mentor, Zordon, exactly where they live.
(Story summary under the cut, for context)
Back at the Command Center, after the Rangers have retreated from Zedd's newfound power, Zordon laments not being able to help his pupils more.
The team wrack their brain to think of a solution, how to beat this thing.
Billy theorizes that there may be some way to achieve a team-wide effect similar to when Tommy passes the Power Shield to another Ranger, sharing her power and amplifying theirs. But the energy requirement would be MASSIVE and most likely result in the Rangers disintegrating themselves.
Zordon is mostly silent, and Kim asks him what's wrong?
Zordon sighs and looks over his team, he begins to speak-
CRASH!
Before he can answer, all at once Zedd, Goldar and Rito attack the Command Center, smashing through the ceiling of the ship.
The Rangers do their best to keep Alpha and Zordon safe, but Alpha's body is slammed into the wall by the much stronger and much larger fighters on Zedd's side, with the Rangers equally as easily pushed back.
While his minions hold the Rangers back, Zedd gloats to Zordon, his "brother", that he could never win. He is weak, foolish, too focused on giving others the choice when he could make the choices for them. Control them, influence them. Why let these humans have the power? Why spread it around? Why not keep it for himself? Sentient creatures are too pathetic, weak-willed to have an sense in what to do with power, anyway.
Zordon says he's wrong, the Rangers have taught him so much since he met them. Zordon chose his original team, but these Rangers chose themselves. Chose each other, and continue to.
They fight because they choose to, they keep their powers because they chose to do what's right! Protect the innocent, protect their home! Their bonds they've chosen to make are what gives them their power, and if Zedd doesn't understand why that's important, he's a lost cause.
Zedd is infuriated. How dare Zordon suggest he's wrong. He strikes out at his brother's energy tube, with Zordon looking to his team. His Power Rangers.
"I'm sorry, Rangers. May my power protect you."
Zedd's blade shatters the tube, destroying it and dispersing Zordon's White Light.
The Rangers stay in place while Zedd and his forces are blasted back by the shockwave, energy swirling around them. Billy exclaims, this is it! This could be the energy boost they needed!
The team will have to focus, focus on each other, resonate their coins, just like when they freed Tommy, like when they formed the Megazord for the first time. All together now!
"It's Morphin Time!"
#rotmmpr#power rangers#mmpr#white ranger#my art#if you dont read the summary but do read the tags for some reason:#this a team-wide one-time power up received in the finale when zedd destroys zordon's energy tube and disperses his light#essentially this universe' version of the z-wave#instead of destroying the forces of darkness - it gives the forces of light the power to disperse darkness back into the universe#since energy can't be destroyed#''there will always be light and dark in the universe'' blah blah you get the picture#really just an excuse for a sick over the top fight scene with the rangers summoning souped up versions#of their weapons and going all-out with their individual suit powers#in 100 years when i finally gather the energy to learn how to animate. its over for you fuckers!!#ANYWAY. i like these designs a lot a lot

So just thinking about how if you take the Boom continuity backstories, and combine them with what happens in the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers show, the messed up drama between Zordon, Rita, and Zedd is a sight to behold.
Cos first of, Zedd was originally Zophram and was Zordon’s superior and originally on the side of ‘good’. Then after an ill-fated attempt to touch the Zeo crystal, gets flayed alive by its defences, goes mad and goes evil. Zordon never knew this for over 10,000 years while Zedd assumed Zordon was to blame and deliberately never told him who he was while they were fighting cos all that time or why he hated Zordon so much cos drama.
Somewhere after this time, while Zordon was fighting both Lord Zedd and Master Vile, he was present for Rita’s birth. Then cos Zordon failed to actually stop Master Vile from getting to Rita, she still got captured and raised evil anyway.
But then somewhere in whatever thousandth year of her life, Rita tries to kill Lord Zedd in the name of her father, but Zedd wins and offers her the chance to work with him instead of her dad, which she takes up on real quick. So now you have Rita working for Zedd and both of them having no idea Zordon was involved in either of their lives at some point.
And then Rita gets captured by Zordon near earth but she manages to cast the spell to rip him into the timewarp but she’s still sealed in the dumpster.
10,000 year timeskip
Here Boom comics are on their own trajectory, but going by the OG show, Rita gets out of the dumpster, terrorises Power Rangers but fails. Zedd realizes she hasn’t accomplished anything after 10,000 years and takes over and puts her in the dumpster again. Then season 2-3, she love-potion-roofies Zedd and marries him.
And I remembered her calling Zedd ‘old man’ in that ep and thinking, well it’s not like Rita looked young (before they switched actresses) and you can’t tell with Zedd cos he doesn’t have a face. But now by their Boom backstories - Zedd as Zophram was older than Zordon, and he got flayed and became Zedd before Zordon became a sage. Zordon was there for Rita’s birth when he has become a sage, and at that point was also dealing with Rita’s father Master Vile becoming full evil, which her mom had only really realized when she was already pregnant with Rita. By the time Rita was an adult, Zedd had been an active threat to the universe for possibly thousands of years before she was even conceived.
And this adds even more layers to why Master Vile was supremely pissed at her marrying Zedd in the show - Zedd-as-Zophram used to actively fight against Dark Specter’s forces, who is Master Vile’s patron. Even when he turned evil, Zedd doesn’t want to associate with Dark Specter and does his own thing. So you have that, and now we know, Zedd is either around the same age or older than Master Vile himself. No dad wants an older son-in-law who is also effectively a work rival LOL.
Even Boom-comics Master Vile, who isn’t as loving with Rita as the OG show, basically has the tone of “oh you come crawling back home after it didn’t work out with your boyfriend for the past thousands of years” when Rita returned to him.
And can you imagine at the point where Rita and Zedd married, Zordon basically has to consider how the little girl he was suppose to protect way back when is now shacking up with his old friend/boss, and both are evil and want him to die.
So the Z-wave sparing them, was it cos their love was that genuine that it absolves them of being fully ‘evil’ despite like, we’re talking thousands of murders; or most likely cos both of them knew Zordon and he was like “look the whole things screwy anyway but if I mindwipe you both into being pure good now, it’s somehow not as bad” and bam, they’re spared and turned human at the end of In Space
TLDR: Zordon somehow through a series of coincidences, bad luck, and some failure, got his old boss/friend hooked up with his ward.
#Rita repulsa#zordon#lord zedd#mighty morphin power rangers#boom comics#countdown to destruction#will Zedd and Rita hook up in the Boom continuity tho#prolly no The Wedding lol buuuut

Okay, I saw the blurb reference for ask, and now I GOTTA, just because: Matt Cook + All of his OC babies~ (we all know WHY)
lol yes we know why. I was debating whether or not I cover Matt dear, so thanks for deciding for me XD
canon children:
none that we know of
OC Children:
Kimberly Hart:
Kelson Hart. Aged 21. Older Twin brother to Kira Hart. Kim’s a single parent, raised her kids mostly on the run after Matthew died when they were four, but she and Matt never got married. More of a friends with benefits thing, off and on until she got pregnant with twins. Kelson has nothing to do with his family. Intergalactic diplomat at 21. Does not live on earth, but shows up every Christmas. He is not associated with any color. He blames power rangers for a lot of his family and planet problems actually. He loves his mom and sister and family, but he can’t bypass their glaringly massive differences in opinions.
Kira, aged 21, younger twin sister to Kelson, green ranger on SPD B Team. She’s often her brothers body guard when he’s on earth for official business, but they bicker constantly when they actually speak to each other outside of work. He blames the power rangers for everything, she thinks he’s an idiot. The reason Kim was on the run in the first place was an unreformed Zedd heard about the kids and as Matt used to work for him, decided those kids were his, actually. As payment. Matt died killing Zedd. That wasn’t power rangers fault, that was Zedd’s fault.
Billy Cranston;
When Billy loses his ranger status and goes to work for Grace, Matt is also there as the green ranger. Billy keeps his distance for a while; the guy is more or less a massive dick. Especially over something that wasn’t Billy’s fault. Billy’s also not taking pot shots at his friends or Zordon over it with Matt. They start dating after the War, and Matt’s final betrayal. More because he finally wore Billy down, but Billy had a good time hanging out with him again. And then both of them had the rude realization at the same time of “I am attracted to this man-fuck he noticed-oh he’s into it” which snowballed. They adopted one kid, and had another via help from alien technology mixed with a little magic. Nora, aged 26, is a professional hockey player. Matt decided he was going to support her sport even if it wasn’t his sport. Billy quickly developed a love of hockey at one of her events when she was little. Mostly because this game is ridiculous. Though he does worry about her on the ice. A lot. They adopted her when she was five, and she’s loud and enthusiastic and very rarely is she ever sad or genuinely upset. Her opinion on things is mostly “be friendly at it or challenge it to a fight” and generally speaking the options work enough she’s never needed to figure out other plans of action. She met her wife during a game. She’s from an opposing team. Nora gave her a concussion; she knocked Nora’s front teeth out. This was par for the course and they bonded in hospital. Billy’s still trying to figure out HOW. Matt thinks it’s hilarious. Is the green dragon ranger. She is legitimately feared by most and can solve most problems without suiting up. The threat is enough.
Their other child is Abner. He’s socially transitioning, he’s 18. He wants to be a writer. He and his sister have a very loving if slightly antagonistic relationship. When Abner came out to her, Nora’s response was “well now you don’t need to steal my clothes. Give them back” which lead to an argument but not the one Abner was expecting. They negotiated the clothing situation. Abner’s not giving back a pair of boots; they look way too good on him. Matt and Billy both support him. Matt sometimes slips up with name, however he’s quick to correct himself. Billy helped Abner choose his name, and was the first person he came out to. Abner is a little self conscious about his looks, and about his public image. More in regards to if he’s going to make his family look bad. Like Matt he tends to brood and focus on negative details way too much. Like Billy he tends to strive for perfection and his vocabulary makes it hard for people to understand him.
Eugene Skullovitch;
Matt dives head first into the villain persona, and is happily doing so. He's thriving. Until he's forced into an ultimatum; save Bulk and Skull from certain death by the hands of Goldar, or vanquish the Solar Rangers. Against his better judgment, he saves Bulk and Skull. Skull, unfortunately for timing wise, had said he'd kiss whoever saved their lives minutes before Matt saved them. He's a man of his word, but he also punched him in the mouth immediately after. Matt's confused as hell. So instead of chasing after Kim, begins chasing after Skull because what was THAT. This leads to a very weird redemption arc because Matt has realized 2 things; he likes being kissed by Skull and he does not want Skull mad at him anymore. Cut to fifteen years later; they've got a kid of their own and no actual idea how they got there really. But, they're happy, don't hate each other's guts, their kid's thriving, it's all good. The entire empire of evil absolutely hates them though and Matt somehow managed to get himself on the shit list of Thor. As long as he doesn't go out while it's thunderstorming he should be fine.
Their son is ten, his name is Jude Cook. Jude is one of the weirdly luckiest kids alive. He's survived an insane amount of attempts on his life, falls, kidnappings, and things he should otherwise not survive. His parents have stopped asking how. Loki helped give them a son, which is partly why Thor's pissed, so they've at this point accepted demigod baby is just gonna do what a demigod baby do. It's probably for the best. Spike's his older brother, and is training with Loki to be some sort of spirit of shapeshifting mischief. They both love causing mild trouble. Like Skull, Jude's got a fear of flying which makes things a little interesting. Skull's got his sons and his partner on a very very strict promise; if the shenanigans could cause an enemy of something power, walk away. Walk far away. Neptune exists. We don't want to get on the bad side of Neptune.
in a tangential version, Billy coparents with the two, and studies demigod ten year old, and deals with the Norse gods being in his business. At the very least nobody's been sucked into Ares' prison jar, so that's good.
*Bonus Poly of Billy Cranston, Matt Cook, and Eugene Skullovitch has all above children mentioned. They live in a large house, Eugene's a famous rockstar and restaurant chain owner, and they actually use every room in said house. In this version they met via Matt asking the only person he knew with experience in bdsm for some help with his newly realized kinks; Skull's payment was pizza nights and then Billy got dragged in because he was certain Matt was abusing Skull, but realized it was fine, actually. And fun.
Tommy Oliver;
Tommy and Matt did not really like each other at the beginning. Matt blames Tommy for so so much, but can't do anything about it, and Tommy's missing Dragon Green something terrible and dealing with massive amounts of PTSD for related but different reasons than Matt. Rita trapped them together in a gladitorial area of the Dark Dimension, and Tommy and Matt managed to talk to each other and get into an understanding. When they started dating, it was actually Grace who saw an opportunity, not Rita. But it’d be three more years before she could enact the plan. She didn’t tell Terona, and she was intending to eventually get every coin as well, for a full set.
Verdun Cook is 24, he’s the green dragon ranger, and he’s never met his dads. He’s a top agent for protection of earth. He thinks his parents gave him up to Grace. They think he died in infancy, an unfortunate complication in how he was made. They also think the dragon dagger was destroyed as well, around the same time. When parents and son finally meet, Tommy and Matt are furious. Billy’s furious. Terona's furious. He got Verdun to Tommy and Matt when he found out, even. Everyone’s furious. Matt and Tommy have Verdun live with them to acclimate to civilian life, and get used to being a person. His entire life has been as a weapon; he’s trying to very rapidly learn how to be human. It’s not like he was a success in the program either; the plan was a whole team of legacy rangers in their parents Colors, and he was the only one they could get.
Currently the only people allowed to mess with Tommy and Matt’s DNA is Billy and the Aquitarans and, hilariously, Zedd. He only made a clone. He was very transparent about what he was intending for the clone. Tommy knows where the clone is. He DIDN’T know where his son was, that he was alive, what Grace was intending or what he was doing. He and Matt are in agreement; If they had to chose they’d choose Zedd with their DNA.
When they thought their biological son had died; they adopted. Ricky is fifteen, not associated with a color, and is trying to get used to this with along with their dads. Ricky really is trying to be nice as well, but his overenthusiasm and attempts at bonding are often coming off too strong and borderline antagonistic. He doesn't mean to be. But the bright side is Ricky’s got someone to hang out with. And better yet, Verdun knows nothing about video games, pop culture, or really anything. So. Who wants to watch Star Wars? Ricky's got mixed feelings about his brother, but they're ranging from sad to excited, there's nothing jealousy related. Their dads are awesome, and he's sad Verdun never got to grow up with their dads. And he's excited to be able to have fun with his brother. Ricky is very excitable, and works on the school newspaper. He does volleyball, and has goals to be valedictorian when he graduates. Friendly, upbeat, can sometimes take things too far, but he tries to make those moments right.
They’re all making up for lost time with Verdun. It’s long overdue. At least both kids get along.
Trini Kwan;
Trini smacked sense into him after the upteenth pity party. She also forced him to come along for a mission in space with the Solar Rangers. He wanted to be let in on the whole thing? Fine! They could do that! Welcome to space Matt, everyone you meet is going to die or kill you! Have fun!
After, he put the dagger up, and he and Trini actually talked about what happened on the moon. She also retired from being a ranger, and they focused on taking a page from Bulk and Skull; being helpful as civilians. Matt asked Trini to marry him, and Trini said no. They made a game of it for a few years before she finally did say yes, when they were both financially stable.
They have Minh, and do foster parenting. Currently fostering JJ Oliver, due to unforeseen events leading to both Tommy and Kat unable to care for their kid for the time being. It’s hard being s foster family, but it’s nice being able to see the kids go back to their parents or move on to hopefully better situations. Matt’s at peace, and Trini is too. Trini is a plane mechanic; Matt is a fireman.
Zack Taylor;
During everything Zack and Matt were friends with benefits, though Matt tended to use Zack as an emotional scapegoat as well. Zack finally had enough after a bit, and told Matt either he got his head out of his ass or they weren’t continuing. He was serious, too, and Matt got left in the lurch for a little while before actually looking at himself long and hard and deciding whether or not his grudge was worth losing Zack again. It wasn’t. His parents loved Zack, Kira loved Zack, and most importantly he loved Zack. He came out to his parents and family, and then put in the effort to get over himself to get Zack back. One daughter by surrogate parent, and Matt owes Kim big time. She’s made it clear though. This was for Zack. He gets this, and accepts he and Kim are probably never even going to be friends. His and Zack’s daughter is Layla Cook-Taylor. Layla is sixteen, tiny firecracker of positivity. She has her low moments, but she’s never down for long. She likes swimming and playing guitar. She dances with Zack in dance classes and Matt adores her so so much. She’s frank and earnest and tries her best. She doesn’t give up easily if ever. White ranger. Saba loves her, too. Yes Matt has gotten in arguments with the uppity dagger why do you ask?
Jason Lee Scott;
Getting with Jason felt a little like leaning how to breathe again. Jason came home and Matt quickly got into sparring with him every weekend, like old times. It devolved into a lot of pent up rage related sex. And then all of that was gone…and there were two angry hurt teenagers who didn’t know how to be healthy about love or sex. Cut to fifteen years later, Jason’s a mechanic, Matt’s an accountant. And nothings changed. In between then and now, Jason had a kid. He doesn’t remember who the mother was, and anyway Diego Scott was left on his porch basically. He’s four. Matt likes the way Diego likes piggy backs. And dinosaurs and zombies. Matt likes how whole he feels with Jason and Diego. It’s pretty late in life, but he’s willing to make a go of this, if Jason is willing. And so far, he is. Diego keeps the two on their toes, being ready to get into the thick of everything and anything. But he's four, that's typical, and he's Jason's. And Matt thinks the kid's the best.
Sharkie;
Surprisingly the two manage to click and gel together really well. Three kids, two boys and a girl. Lexie Cook aged 24, Gavin Cook aged 19, and Quincy Cook, aged 17. Sharkie and Matt bonded over being left behind by their friends, though Sharkie doesn’t have any ill will to Bulk or Skull. Stuff happens. The first time he morphed he did it to impress Sharkie and she laughed in his face. He then spent the rest of his life trying to impress her, and stumbled into becoming a better person in the process.
Lexie Cook works as a radio host for a popular music station. She has a popular segment where she runs down the monster of that week and ranks it’s strengths and weaknesses and how to avoid it while putting out a prediction for the next week’s. She does this in between her music playlist, and she’s been right in her predictions a few times. Starts and ends her show saying hi or goodbye to her parents. She has a huge sweet tooth and will do anything for sweets. Lately her brother Gavin's been Off, so she's been adding him in the hi and goodbye, and a 'hang in there bud' as well. not associated with a color
Quincy “Flea” Cook is one of the punks at school, and one of the comedy duo. He's antagonistic to the 'goody twerps' Matt just knows is the power rangers, and neither he nor Sharkie really know if they should step in or just let this play out. Currently letting it play out. Quincy’s grown a lot since the current team's shown up, and he's gotten braver, less self serving, and a lot more noble. Matt's just made sure he's well aware he needs to get out of a situation if buildings are falling. No exceptions. He can grab the person closest to him but he is staying out of the area. Sharkie is making sure he also knows when to stop antagonizing, and know who and what all monsters are. Quincy is in love with art but he's got a Reputation. He's gotten a reputation for being spraypainting sides of buildings. His murals are always well done, but with a sense of humor, and often calling out the villains. Something's up with his older brother though, so he's been trying to figure out what. not associated with a color
Gavin Cook's currently working for the villains. Mind controlled, he's not really even interested in power rangers, normally. Evil ranger sixth ranger, he's been living with a roommate since he was eighteen in an apartment near his parents house and sister's apartment (the reasoning being this is his first try at being properly independent, and if he needs help they're near him to assist if need be). They don't spend enough time with him to know anything other than he's not acting right. Quincy's actively trying to figure out what's wrong though, and Gavin's dreading the day he's going to be told to attack his own family members. He's the villainous Maximum Ranger, and he's waiting for the good rangers to free him and his roommate so he can get back to not caring about power rangers. and hug his family. and go get therapy because yea...he needs to Unpack This. When not a mindcontrolled villain, Gavin's pretty chill. He lets Quincy hang out to get away from their parents, and usually is playing music while watching his brother. He really doesn't give a damn about power rangers, could care less. Matt was one, and that's fine, he's not anymore and Gavin doesn't care about the legacy. He works at the local coffeeshop, which is where the good rangers love hanging out. He hates spying on them, he used to love the atmosphere, and he knows his dad and his job is why he's currently here. All his parents know is he went missing for a week and came back, well, off. They're there when he asks for help, the kicker being, right now Gavin literally cannot.
(maximum is a shade of green)
Marleau Eskin;
He got with her in high school to get back at his former friends and ex girlfriend. It was a joke, turns out he’s the joke. But he and Marcel don’t talk to Marleau anymore. Matt’s a sports reporter, and Marcel’s a professional esport gamer in his late 20’s. Matt sees his kid on the weekends for weekly lunches and check ins. Had to take a second when Marcel said he’d started dating Minh Kwan. Had to decide if the anger was worth it. It wasn’t. He’s not talking to the group still, but Marcel’s got his blessing, and he's fine with Marcel seeing Minh. That has to count for something. Matt was able to prove without a shadow of a doubt that Marleau was a negligent parent, and had left their kid in frankly dangerous situations when he was young. Marcel broke his arm left alone at a park, and Matt was never more happy or enraged. But, it lead to Marcel being genuinely happy as the son of a single parent, so Matt's happy to let him live his life. Also somewhat relieved Minh or her family heard the last name 'Cook' and is still letting this happen. Marcel is not associated with a color.
Stan Skullovitch;
They were kidnapped together and replaced with putties. They were tortured together, and formed a trauma bond. Stan had enough sense to say 'no' to a relationship with someone who 1) hated his brother and 2) was still in highschool. However they kept running into each other over the years. When they did get together, it was when Matt had his head out of his ass a little, and was in a stable job. Stan was a singer at a lounge, and the trauma attraction had settled into a healthier flavor. Everyone's got their opinions on the two getting together but it seems okay right now? Rita as Mystic Mother used magic to give them a child because as Matt pointed out in a confrontation with her; she kind of owed them big time. Ulysses "Bones" Skullovitch is twelve, and kind of a natural wanderer. It's not unusual for him to leave the house at dawn and come back around dinner time with all sorts of things in his pockets. He's not loud, but he's not shy. Prefers watching than acting, though will step up if need be. Stan finds it hard to not worry about him, but Spike and Spike's friends keep an eye on Bones while keeping their distance. He's alright, he's just the kind of person that likes being by himself playing. However he might be getting some friends, and Matt's starting to wonder if power rangers is a genetic thing. Bones will be a red ranger when old enough.
Violet Arias;
she slapped him. Then yelled at him, then apologized because his cheek was swelling and her nail had accidentally caused a cut on his eyelid. He had to wear an eye bandage for two weeks and she gave him flowers. Then he apologized for, well. everything. After that they started dating, balancing his ranger status with school and her trying to be okay with it. They've been in hiding with their kids since Zedd put a price on Matt's head. Myrtle and Tyrian are fifteen and ten, respectively. They don't know their dad was a green ranger and still is when called to be so, Matt's not going to put them in danger over this. As much as he can help, anyway.
Myrtle Arias plays the trumpet in the school marching band. She's extremely good at coded cyphers, and wants to be the president of the united states one day. She's also on the chess team. She has no opinions on the power rangers or the monsters that seem to constantly show up. She's just trying to get through school without being shoved in a locker. Hard to connect to her dad, who was a popular kid, so it's easier to talk to and connect to her mom. is not associated with a color.
Tyrian Arias learned his name's the actual name for the color royal purple (named after the snails whose shells are used for the pigments) and decided he was going to make this his entire personality. He is a ten year old sixth ranger, he is not hiding this. His only saving grace is that he is constantly telling so many tall tales his parents aren't entirely sure if he's telling the truth (and if he is there will be WORDS with whoever gave him Purple), and everyone else thinks he's just an exceptionally imaginitve kid. Matt is...hoping the extra excitable new ranger is not, in fact, his son. However, deep down he knows it's Tyrian and he's freaking out.
