“requiem for methuselah” crazy ass episode for many reasons. Kirk is being fully insane, like I don’t actually think, even controlling for how quickly and easily and readily he seems to fall in love with anybody at the slightest encouragement, that he’d go that bonkers for that android woman he just met while everyone on the ship was this close to dying, but that’s neither here nor there, because in the background you’ve got an equally but much more subtly insane episode for Spock, who extremely uncharacteristically admits to experiencing an emotion (or nearly experiencing, whatever) and that emotion is ENVY of all things. And then spends the rest of the episode warning Kirk away from this new love interest (something that doesn’t usually happen, even when Kirk has very inadvisable love interests) and is, in the end, the person who accurately identifies that Rayna’s competing love for Kirk and Flint is ultimately what overwhelms and destroys her with the most killer line in maybe history???

And then to wrap it up we get an equally uncharacteristic sort of denouement scene (TOS loooves to cut an episode off right after the actual climax, leaving little time for falling action or character reflection, or to stick a sitcom-y button on the end where the gang all smiles and laughs at their misadventures and everything resets to zero, which is not a criticism, it’s just the style of that era of tv, honestly) where Kirk is literally miserable over Rayna’s death (again, kind of unusual for a lot of his love interests, he tends to be able to move on pretty quickly) and Spock goes to see him and he falls asleep right in front of Spock (also odd) and then when Bones comes in to give the final word on Flint, Spock waves him off from waking the Captain (tender) and Bones gives him that awful speech about how it’s sadder that Spock can’t even imagine the love Kirk felt for this random android woman than it is that Kirk lost her in the first place (debatable but also rude) and how his great tragedy is that he can’t love at all like they can and how all he wishes is that Kirk could forget about all of this and move on. AND THEN, to have Bones leave and Spock go over to Kirk and very gently, tenderly, reluctantly touch him and put his hand to his forehead and tell him to forget and HAVE THAT BE THE END OF THE EPISODE??? What am I supposed to do with that??

What a cool line.#hope it doesn’t become some sort of…thesis statement for you or something SPOCK #listen my number one beef with the way they write bones is that they just make him completely mischaracterize everything to suit the plot #this man is not an idiot he KNOWS Spock has emotions and just suppresses them #you’re going to tell me he’s been on that ship with Spock for years and thinks he feels no love whatsoever for anyone???#like even after what happened in the empath and in that episode where McCoy thought he was dying #he knows Spock loves people!!! COME ON #does he really just mean romantic love?? that’s so boring WRITE HIM BETTER #also they’re banking a lot on people remembering what the Vulcan mind meld is for that last bit #like I know it comes up a lot but…this is 1968 or whatever. They don’t have this shit on dvd to rewatch #you’re counting on really dedicated fan memory here or on people catching reruns #because otherwise it just looks like Spock waiting to be alone to touch Kirk as tenderly as possible and pray he forgets this woman #truly what’s going on #anyway I kind of hated this episode #like quite frankly there was too much going on #are androids people? would Kirk fall in love that hard that quickly and choose it over the safety of his crew?#why wasnt the illness ravaging the crew a bigger deal??#they didn’t even get into WHY flint was immortal #he was just a regular human and apparently the ONLY one who was granted immortality by the earth’s atmosphere #leaving aside the very creepy and very early born sexy yesterday trope going on throughout #but it was a really good Spock episode if you just….dont look at anything else….#the writer for this one also did Day of the Dove and Mirror Mirror which explains a LOT #two other episodes that are interesting for the character dynamics but really chaotic plot wise #anyway imagine saying to Spock’s face that he has no idea what love can drive a man to do #one has to laugh #tos #star trek #as always…. I need people to understand that my hyperfixation ships are limited to one thing: a man who is usually in full control of himself meeting 1 woman and losing complete and utter control over absolutely everything he does.

I just like to watch when they go full feral for a woman who could literally chew them up and spit them out, but choses to let them stick around because I don't know, it's nice to have someone carrying their bag or whatever.

#rat rambles #oc posting #eternal gales #Ive been on the new game+ brainstorming grind but I am now taking a brief tali interlude because song that makes me think of her popped up #just aughhhh. her clinging on so hard to the vague fuzzy memories of different members of her family and longing to have had them in her #life and just. the fact that her grandpa never made any attempts to stay in contact. the fact that aris spent years actively avoiding her.#like I love those two very dearly but Man were they Not there for tali like at All. and they Could have been. tali :(#like no they did not know that tali was going through the fucking horrors but her grandpa at least could have made an effort #like he knows his ex wife is. not the best at maintaining safe environments for children. he could have made an educated guess.#Im sure he would love to see tali again and would love to be in her life but he always saw it as her grandmas choice #which to be clear she is also to blame for. so much of the shit tali went through even if she never directly harmed tali #like woman dont bring your grandchild to a place that you Know is supernaturally unstable and dangerous. c'mon.#well shes dead now so even if she wanted to ruinite tali with the rest of her family she never will. bummer.#aris should be greatful the worst of her bad sister quota grind was when she was like 14 aka pre comic #shes not necessarily the best sister ever within the actual comic but at least shes actually trying for most of it #and I do tend to go a smidge easy on her since she and tali are like. a year apart.#unfortunately that's just the concequence of the fact that their ages were decided before I made them siblings #I have considered aging one of them up or down a smidge in the past but its too important to their backstory that theyre close in age #if I do ever change their ages itll be because of a general cast wide age up but I dont plan on doing that for now #Ive definitely considered it and am trying to be open to the idea of tweaking some ages at some point but idk #Im pretty happy with their ages atm I just had a bit where I wasnt super sure if I wanted to keep committing to them #I think I am tho I just needed to get used to seeing them from the lense of an adult instead of a teen whos projecting #which I did a while ago its done wonders for helping me develop tali and aris especially better #it Is kind of sad not rly having any ocs atm that I can rly project onto but theres positives to it too #mainly that I feel like it helps me not wallow in my own issues too much which can be nice #I rly needed the space to explore different aspects of myself as a teenager but nowadays Im trying to not get lost in my own head as much #I more or less know who I am and what my issues are and I dont rly care as much abt analysing myself nowadays #so I find myself more drawn to writing characters that are very different from me bonus points if they fucking suck <3

New pokemon arc YESSSS

#vi rambling #pokemon #i have many thoughts. most importantly.#HE APPEARS. IN SUCH A SWEET SCENE. AUGH.... the expressions. honestly its so great that #theyre leaning into his honorable qualities and the fact that hes so desperate for recognition. that smile was so genuine and appreciative #im not huge on zir and conia as characters in the narrative but im so glad he had a support system of some kind. and he values it so much.#because he has barely been shown warmth. hes opening up from his solitude. ARGHHH #ideally this is where the main trio comes in but well... holding out dai sato dont disappoint me please do not disappoint me with his arc.#the opening visuals are beautiful. gibeon shown as well as lucius's past traveling party... mysterious third woman?#very intrigued. also by the implication of a direct confrontation with him?#amethio seemingly on the objective to prove himself against spinel is exactly what i wanted so im glad this is where we're going.#i dont think him backtracking on his development and personality qualities that shone so brightly in The Episode is a good move #we'll see. i hope i can trust them #that said i loved liko and dot and roy's shots in the op and the general emphasis on evolution as Development because this series leans #so nicely into character and narrative development that getting a sort of reflection of that visually in the op was great #i loved seeing liko wake up again on the brave asagi #and next episode. im not looking forward to in particular ngl #im notttt huge on carmine appearing at all. never found that character compelling and i dont see her fit in with the overall narrative but #i also said this about penny. so im willing to be corrected. for now.#in general the only way ill be waiting for next episode is. friede in the kitakami getup. send post.#im kidding it might have nice moments im just not too into that type of deal so early into the new arc.

so i left the mormon church as a teenager (15ish? 16?), but stayed in attendance until i was 20. i was pretty up front about the whole deciding-it-wasnt-true process with my bishop, who frankly took it really well, but it wasnt like i pulled all 150 ward members aside and had a heart to heart with them. anyway, i didnt believe, so at 19 i didnt go on a mission, and while some people in the ward were totally fine with that, others werent. and there was one woman in her late 50s who pulled me aside one day to interrogate me why i hadnt gone on a mission.

"the duty of every young man" she said.

and the thing is, im autistic. and a lot of people assume that when youre autistic, your social skills just arent very good. but thats not exactly true. your Be Polite skills are kind of eh, and they tend to stay that way, but as a sort of survival mechanism your Be Rude skills become amazing simply because you get put in tons of situations where your choices are to Function or Be Polite. and no one can choose Be Polite forever. the world demands function, it merely encourages politeness.

anyway, it can really catch neurotypicals by surprise, because hey, heres this kind of awkward, graceless guy, who stumbles over his words a lot and is very apologetic. hes probably a huge pushover. but i'm only like that when we're playing The Polite Game, because i am frankly kind of bad at it. but when its time to play The Rude Game, i go fucking ham and asking about the not-going-on-a-mission thing is Super Rude. so i said:

"sister hadlock... they wont let me go because i lit-er-ally cannot stop sucking dicks. i dont know why, its just so, so hard."

*dramatic pause*

"also - its very difficult to stop."

anyway, it almost killed her. i think she'd expected to just kind of steamroll me for the entire conversation, but the answer crushed her soul. instead of continuing her interrogation she made a noise like a horse drowning in a bog and left.

to add insult to injury, she went to the bishop after that, thinking he'd chew me out for being an ass, but instead he chewed her out for not minding her own business. then she went to my parents after that, who basically went "yeah, babylon was pretty rude. but youre also pretty rude. what are you, mad that he's better at it than you?"

i really loved that ward.

"still. when's the last time we had sex, jay?"

"a few days ago, right?" he says trying to see where you're going with this.

you guys spend some time talking about your week and enjoying the meal you made. it felt so nice to have this moment with your husband. you guys rarely ever got to eat real meals together.

you dry off your hands before you turn back to him. "now, I have one more surprise for you upstairs. come on~" you say excitedly before dragging him up the stairs.

you finally make it to your bedroom and point his attention towards the bag in the middle of the bed. in it was a new cologne, a new tie and jewelry. as he opens the bag you dash into the bathroom to take off that tight dress and reveal what was underneath.

"baby, you didn't have to get me any of this. i'm so grateful, thank you. god, this is so cool." he says, examining his new items.

you finally step out the bathroom, heels still clicking as you call out his name.

he brings his attention up and his mouth is left open for the second time that night.

you slowly make your way towards him before he reaches out his hands to touch you as if you'd dissappear right in front him.
