First encounters.

Well, it looked fancier at least, perhaps just not as practical as a regular pen. "It's been eons since someone had actually approached me — much less attempted conversation. " He didn't dislike people, but he certainly didn't like most of them; there was much neutral ground there to be had.

In-fact, the ember-coloured Sylvari most times did his best to pay as little attention to them as possible, but that was a tale for another time.

"She said I reminded her of someone long ago, but that my scent was different — his, of ember and peaches — mine, of smouldering embers from a late night campfire. Similar, yet different enough to warrant her departure. That was about when that conversation ended. A strange creature, she is. I know very little about her, only her name, and yet.. I'm intrigued, for once. "

Perhaps it was the way she had curiously interjected herself into his bubble, or the way she had at least tried in general. Not to be mistaken with the fact that Nadir is a lonely soul, simply that he wouldn't mind company occasionally.

Hermits aren't always anti-social, after-all.

"Maybe I have a new friend."

The book closed with a gentle grasp of its edges, and the top to the inkpot screwed back on before the man rose, resigning himself to other tasks.
