“This is ridiculous.”

“It’s not,” Alex argued, still bustling around the room, cleaning dust already cleaned and folding clothes already folded. “And don’t move!” he warned, pointing a finger at Michael who had started to shift against the headboard. “You need to rest that arm.”

Michael should’ve known this would happen. The moment Kyle had announced that his arm would need a sling after falling into his bunker, as Alex had gripped his hand tight and the bedframe tighter, Michael had known his husband would overreact.

“I’m pretty sure that bulb is as polished as it’s going to get, babe,” he noted, and Alex glared, letting go of the lamp.

“I told you not to move.”

“Alex,” he growled, pulling Alex in by the waist with his free hand. “I’m fine, would you please sit down? You’ve been putting enough strain on your leg for the past two days.”

“It doesn’t hurt,” Alex promised, kissed the top of his head, and started to push himself off the bed. “You hungry? Want some water? I don’t think you’ve had enough water today.”

“Alex.” Michael started to laugh, exasperated and frustrated and fond and loving, and he was going to die if Alex didn’t sit down soon. “Please, would you listen to me?”

“Ha!” Alex’s eyes widened. “I’m sorry, but what did you do when I caught a fever two weeks ago?”

Michael shifted in bed again, uncomfortable. He remembered how insistent he’d been on Alex lying down for at least a week, how he’d refused to let him so much as shower on his own, and how despite Alex’s pleas that he’d been suffering nothing more than some chills and a headache, Michael had threatened to all but send an earthquake by the house if Alex made a single move out of bed.

“That was different.”

“Sure it was,” Alex said. “For one thing, I don’t have powers to threaten you into safety. But I can do something else.”

Michael scoffed. “Which is?”

Alex huffed, sat on the edge of the bed very suddenly, and held Michael’s gaze very intensely. Then, so quickly as if he’d been saving them, tears formed in his eyes.

Panic gripped Michael’s chest and he straightened, reaching for Alex’s arm. “Okay, okay, okay! You’ve made your point!”

Alex snickered under his breath, wiping his eyes with his sleeve.

Michael breathed heavily, searching Alex’s face. “How the hell did you do that, and why can you do that?!”

“My husband’s in a sling,” he said, pushing himself up. “It’s hardnot to keep doing it.”

Michael swallowed, watching Alex shuffle around the room a bit more as something bubbled from the kitchen stove and the smells of onion and herbs wafted throughout the house.

“I didn’t even know you could cry . . .” he started, but trailed off as he remembered the few times he had seen Alex’s tears. And why. “Oh yeah.”

Alex’s lips quirked, and he bent down to kiss Michael’s cheek. “You’ll stay in bed, right?”

Michael held his eyes. He never wanted to see him cry with such fear like that again. “I won’t move.”

Alex must’ve heard the fear in Michael’s own voice, and smiled. There was a pride in it that Michael couldn’t miss, and which only made him love his husband more.

“Good boy.”

Actually posting on a Wednesday for once! Thanks for the tag @eclecticwildflowers 💗 Actually got a little more writing down for Paige’s main story, which means meeting Duke right away! Duke ends up saving Paige from a trouble and its all downhill from there for both of them.

 I’m trying to follow the story for season 2 but things will drastically change in the same season.

“Hey, are you ok? You’re not hurt, are you?”

Paige took one more breath and looked up. A man with shoulder length shaggy dark brown hair and warm brown eyes looked at her with concern. When she continued to just stare at them, the man gave her shoulder a gentle shake.

“Hey, look at me.” He waited until she finally focused on him before asking again, “Are you ok?”

Paige swallowed and nodded. “Yeah I’m ok, but what the hell was that?”  

She turned to look around the car, too scared to open the door and be faced with whatever the world decides to throw at them next.

“The bugs?”

Paige turned to give the man a credulous look. “Yes, the bugs! What else would I be talking about?” He opened his mouth to speak but the way the corner of his lips started to curve struck a nerve with her. “And don’t you dare say the frogs.”

That got a look from him. “I…well…” He trailed off, taking the hand that had still been on her shoulder to run through his hair. “You got me there. Were you heading into town?”

Paige sighed and nodded again. “Yes. I was a mile or so back when the…the frogs started to fall and I crashed my care. I’m ok, clearly,” she rushed out when she saw the man’s brow furrow. “I was already driving slow and just…swerved.”

“Oh, was that your blue car?”

“Yup.” Paige slumped back in her seat with a frustrated huff. “And I’m guessing my luggage got covered in bugs too.”

The man leaned to his left to get a glimpse of where she was pointing. “Well  I can’t help with your luggage, but I can give you a ride into town. Need to report something else strange—”

“Stranger than falling frogs or swarms of deadly insects?”

The man chuckled, but she sensed more concern than genuine laughter. “Yeah, you could say that. Grab your luggage and we can head on out.”

Currently watching: I stopped watching all the Arrowverse shows in 2020 and now that they’re all cancelled, have started a rewatch project to go back and get it all. I’m almost done with season one of Arrow. A wildly different experience having watched 8 years of Arrow and having read many more DC comics lol

ok prompt idea coming your way: Duke and Nathan as kids (you pic age) they get in trouble for something and end up spending time in detention. they why and how they end up there is up to you ;) Id just like a little peek into what they were like before things got really complicated for them :D

“Duke, what are you doing there?” Nathan hissed, stepping closer to Duke who was standing at his locker. 

 “What, uh - nothing?” Duke slammed the locker shut, just looking for my chemistry book. 

“In my locker?” 

 Duke looked around. “What? That is your locker? Uh - hadn’t figured -” 

 Nathan didn’t let him speak to an end before he shoved him to the side and opened his locker. There was a snake inside. Nathan knew enough of snakes to know it was harmless but he turned around to Duke. “Really?” 

 Duke shrugged. “Last time I got the wrong locker so I thought I would fix that.”

 Nathan took the snake out of his locker and held it out to Duke. “Bring it back to where ever you got it. And then go back to class.” 

 Duke raised one eyebrow as he leaned against the wall of lockers. “You’re not in class either. Don’t tell me that Nathan Wuornos is cutting class?” 

 Nathan pulled a little wooden stick out of his pocket with “Hall Pass” carved into it. “Just was on my way to the toilet.” 

 “You’re boring, Nathan. You have a free ticket right now, you could do anything you want.” 

 “I can’t stay away forever. I will get detention.” 

 Duke shrugged. “Detention isn’t that bad. And maybe you’ll make a few more friends. You know there are some regulars in there you might like.” 

 “Like whom?” 

 Duke grinned. “Me.” 

 Nathan rolled his eyes. “Shut up and go.” 

 “Go?” Another voice sounded over to them. “You’re both staying right where you are. What are you doing on the hall?” A teacher approached them, Mr. Lewis Nathan thought. He didn’t have him in any of his classes. 

“I have-” he started and wanted to show his Hall Pass, but Duke interrupted him, “We’re cutting class.” 

 “Duke! No, Mr. Lewis, I’m not! I was just on my way-” 

“Is that a snake?” Mr. Lewis called out, not listening to Nathan at all, and pointed at the animal in Duke’s hand. “Where did you get that?” 

“Biology lab!” Duke grinned. 

“Detention! Both of you. After class. For the rest of the week.” 

 Nathan shook his head. “No, Mr. Lewis, listen, I was just on my way to the toilet. I have a pass. And I ran into Duke and saw him at my locker. He put that snake in my locker!” 

 “I don’t want to hear no more. Get back to your classes and I want to see you both this afternoon.” 

 Nathan groaned. “Please!” 

 Duke just put his arm around him. “We’ll have so much fun together.” 

 Nathan shook him off. “I hate you!” 

 “Let’s see if you hate me less after this week of detention.”

In your top three fandoms, who are your OPTs :)

Wow that's hard but thank you for the ask and getting to remember all the shows I really enjoyed over time....

Angel the series was my first official foray in any fandom and my first otp would be Angel / Cordelia which is not very popular in the Buffy circles so it originally took me 3 years to even acknowledge it in a forum in public but I really loved the characters on that show including the aborted opportunities for Winifred to be both with Gunn and Wesley.

I like a lot of shows but the 2 I am most likely to read these days will be:

Teen Wolf with either Peter/Stiles/Christopher or Peter/Christopher or Peter/Stiles in it... I obviously love snark and silver foxes... Who knew?

Haven with either Nathan/Audrey or Nathan/Audrey/Duke. I certainly could enjoy some Audrey/Duke or Duke/Evie but those seem much harder to find.

On the side, I trolled x-files forums in the old days to get my fill of Mulder/Scully and wish there would be more Brian/Mia out there from The Fast and Furious series which is odd cause I don't specifically love cars or stories revolving around racing...

Finally it won't count but in the Supernatural fandom which I followed for very long, I am partial to what is called RPF - for real people fanfics - and can savor some J3 or Jensen/Jared/Jeffrey Dean Morgan lol.

9 fandoms (ish). Kingkiller Chronicle (27), Haven (16), and then one or two for Hamilton (both crossover), Leverage (also a crossover), Cloak ad Dagger, a retelling of Bluebeard, Red, White, and Royal Blue, and Legacies.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

A recount of Rio fro Red, White, and Royal Blue, where Alex and Henry tell their friends what happened in Rio when they first met. Very funny and I frequently forget I write it lol.

You can break my heart from Cloak and Dagger, a to all the boys au I never finished and have very few comments on oops.

kiss me too fiercely, hold me too tight from Haven, an alternate scene in Fear and Loathing if Duke had offered to hook up with Nathan instead of rando girls.

Old Friends from Kingkiller Chronicle for Kote and Tempi, a ship I have very little investment in and is super super short but people love it??

an eventful morning from Haven, smut for the threegulls and it's light and fluffy and a little funny.

5. What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

a lot of my kkc fic gets super angsty cause there is a lot of like, character analysis in fic form, but There's a part I can't tell takes the cake and I cried writing it. it's about denna and her patron and domestic abuse. it was stuck in my head and I had to get it out. (but also wow there is a lot of angst in my fics???? @ me please explain).

6. What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?

I'm partial to A life without you is empty, even tho I don't care about Timeless at all anymore, it had the part in the ending that was important to me, which is Lucy saving Amy because sisters are important, okay? But Good Morning from kkc is also super sweet because sim and fela are my darlings.

7. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you've written?

yes, kingkilller chronicle and leverage, as well as kingkiller chronicle and hamilton. yes, I do have a problem, thank you for noticing. one day, I'll write a kkc and haven crossover, I'm sure

8. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I shock myself by saying yes to this, not even fics with smut, just straight up smut. as to what kind? i have no clue.

9. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

usually, unless I get super distracted, it just feels kind.

10. Have you ever received hate on a fic?

not yet, but I write for unpopular fandoms so *shrug*

not as far as I know

no, never gotten around to it. tried to once but it fell through in high school

Parker x Hardison (Leverage) (I do enjoy the ot3, but Parker and Hardison have my heart), Tandy x Tyrone (Cloak and Dagger), and Audrey x Nathan x Duke (Haven) (they are addictive)

16. What are your writing strengths?

I have been told when I write for kkc, I sound like pat rothfuss, which like, WHOA. like, more than once, and that's an amazing compliment to me. I'm trying to carry that style over to other fandoms, but I usually prefer writing dialogue heavy with little description, or actively describing someone's feelings and nothing else for like two solid pages.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

describing setting is a huge one but whatever lol

18. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

only French if @logarithmicpanda has approved it (I have heard them talk so much about terrible translations in published books, I would not be comfortable doing it), but I probably wouldn't tbh. there has been no need so far.

19. What was the first fandom you wrote for?

before I published fic online, Stargirl in grade school and Half Resurrection Blues in college were both fics I handed in for grades lol. the first one was from Cinnamon the rat's pov and the second was Carlos going to therapy cause I think I'm funny. on ao3, kingkiller chronicle.

20. What's your favourite fic you've written?

hm. I really am not sure. maybe Blue and Red

Now that I’m no longer doing big writing events, I’ve decided to jump back into some wips I had started in the past! I’ll share a bit from the most recent chapter I wrote for my resident evil tattoo parlor/flower shop au. Its still a wip so some things may change!!

A round of cheers erupted around the bar, glasses or beer bottles clinking haphazardly. Carlos glared as he stared at the others, his beer untouched in front of him. The bar was some dingy whole in the wall that one of the younger in this crew had brought them to after the events of the past few days. All of them battered and bruised, Carlos one of the few that were pretty bruised, but they had made it out alive.

“C’mon Carlos,” Tyrell said, taking a drink from his glass. “Are you going to be mad all night or actually celebrate with us? The job was a success!” A few men around them cheered again at his words.

Carlos only grunted as he crossed his arms. He was more than mad and figured he had every right to be. This job was supposed to be simple. In, out, no one gets hurt…

“No one was supposed to be there,” Carlos growled, ignoring the round of cheers that went up again. “And then you let him,” he motioned to Nikolai who was sitting alone at the bar, a half drunk beer in his hand, “take charge? Hell Tyrell, there was a reason he was never the one in charge.”

Tyrell paused for a moment, his drink inches from his face. Then he shrugged and downed his beer. “I don’t really see why you’re complaining. You’re alive and man was it good to see you in action again.” He set the empty glass down with a loud thud. “So what if a few of us got injured, those guys were Umbrella anyways. I know how much you hate them as much as I do.”

“That’s no reason for the job we just pulled.” Carlos said, looking out the dirty window but only seeing darkness on the other side.

Whatever Tyrell wanted to say, he didn’t. He left Carlos to sit in the booth, only pausing to see if Carlos wanted another beer, but Carlos only waved him off. The past 72 hours flashed through his mind again, Tyrell convincing him to come on this ridiculous mission…all in the hopes of saving an old friend.

This was taken during the first rehearsal for the 4th season of The Rookie. I think that the guy in the white could Eric Balfour. I know it’s a long shot, but I would absolutely die to have both Eric and Shawn on the same show. Anyone else agree? @greygullhaven? I know that you’re also a huge Eric fan.
