I will always love this line from Babylon 5.
We should always walk in grey, not in black and white. No one is perfect; we all have flaws. Sometimes we lie. Sometimes we make extremely bad choices that can take years to remedy. Sometimes we lose something precious in the journey. No one can escape them; regrets, sorrows, and grief are our constant companions.
I am grey. I am the candle in the night.
As an abuse survivor, I have learned how so many can escape “detection” and how many are fooled and groomed by the abusers themselves.
We learn. Knowledge hurts.
And we live, move on, and try to spread that light.

the concept of "grey Jedi" doesn't work because the force is light and dark, not black and white. By definition, colour value might be a spectrum, but darkness is absence of light. Everyone is grey! Star wars has clearly implied that nobody is perfect and everyone comes in shades of of grey, everyone is flawed and imperfect. The jedi are all technically grey! Everyone has the dark and potential to fall within them. However, they are "light" because they, as jedi, choose light, choose selflessness, choose goodness. "Light" is a choice.
Textbook fandom interpretation of "grey jedi" is either A. Someone who uses both the dark and light side or B. Someone who is light and does good but doesn't follow the jedi order.
A. doesn't work, because the dark side isn't just defined by "being emotional" or "Thinking of yourself", it's literally stuff like murder and torture. You can't claim to be "good" or "light" or "better than everyone" while also condoning murder at the same time.
B. You don't have to be a jedi to use the force! You don't have to be a jedi to be in the light! Like it's not illegal, the jedi order respects non-jedi force users as long as they don't commit human rights violations! the Jedi are the majority of force users, but they're not the only ones who can use the force. The jedi themselves are aware that there are many different interpretations, and the only intervene when it. yknow. involves murder and torture and the like. calling non-jedi lightside users as "grey jedi" doesn't really make sense because they're... just technically normal jedi. And if they're not associating with the order, then they're just lightside force users that are not jedi? Why would they call themselves jedi if they themselves don't think they are jedi or associate with the jedi???
Like in Ahsoka's situation, she's not a "grey" jedi, she's a light force user that doesn't follow the jedi order. In fact, saying that she's a "grey" jedi is basically just saying that she's a regular jedi? That doesn't make her better or worse or special, disagreeing with the council doesnt make someone better or worse that the other- what does matter is her actual actions. Which, as aforementioned, is lightside. The jedi order is also light. They can coexist, yknow, one is not superior than the other, they're both light. And it's not uncommon for people to disagree with the council. That's the entire point of the jedi having a "council"- to provide different perepectives and healthy debate and come up with the best decision for everyone. You can't please everybody, that's entirely normal. There's a reason why the council discusses instead of having one person make all the choices. The jedi are people too, they're also flawed. You can be grey and choose light, that's what the jedi choose to do.
tldr everyone is already grey, but light and dark is a matter or choice.
addedum Mace windu is a great example of a character who is light, where his use of vaapad requires mastery of control of both light side and dark side, and therefore he often skirts the dark side as well, he consciously makes an effort to choose "light" and master himself.

I wish the wheel was numbered sequentially but it’s actually kinda crazy how thematically relevant each of these signs were for their character’s arc in krakoa. The replacement members also work too, touching on different aspects of their signs.

Yes, Delenn started a war. Yeah, that's objectively bad. But do we really think that EarthGov would have given anyone the courtesy of asking about why they killed a significant (political) figure before committing massive violations of the Geneva Convention?
Obviously we shouldn't condone this behavior- but let's at least give it some perspective:
It's literally her first day on the job. she just finished her internship the night before
she's been trained for this role and this role alone, her life experience is limited at best and nonexistent at worst
her mentor just died -> that's essentially going from training wheels on flat and even ground, with a helmet to a unicycle on a mountain during fire season... uphill
nobody really cared about what she said until 20 minutes ago when she became One of Them
there were four other members of the Grey Council that were pro-war, she didn't decide to go to war by herself

As the remaining Quiet Council are discussing family matters and their plans on going home, Kafka the winged mutant boy overhears the conversation and starts to have doubts. Kafka eventually talks to Exodus about his doubt about how the rest of the mutants may have to stay behind in White Hot Krakoa while some of the mutants are selected to go home (and fight Orchis). The Quiet Council and the chosen mutants prepare for a ritual which Mister Sinister empties a vial of Cypher's genes into the pool so that Krakoa could help them in teleporting the mutants back home. The Krakoan vines wrap around Mister Sinister & the mutants and turns them into buds. Hope Summers remains behind on White Hot Krakoa as she reminds herself that she has to bring Phoenix Force back and she has some Messiah shit to do. Back on Earth, Apocalypse is dragging Krakoa-Treant back to Krakoa island when the chosen mutants pop right out of the flowers.
Much later, Hope Summers is having much difficulty in dealing with the Phoenix Force and Jean Grey. In order to save all of mutantkind and resurrect both the Phoenix and Jean Grey, Hope alongside the help of Legion (as the talking Hope Gun) shot the Phoenix with the consequence being her sacrificing herself in the process. Jean and the Phoenix have come back but Hope is gone. Meanwhile, the mutants are fighting the Stark Sentinels on the ruins of Krakoa island when Exodus, Destiny and Mystique teleport in. The Hope Sword is back in Nightcrawler's hands. Even though Destiny hugs Nightcrawler after some getting her motherly memories back from Xavier, she gives the bad news - Hope Summers is dead. Exodus at first doesn't believe it then announces that Hope has returned to whence she came. "The word made flesh, the flesh made immortal. She is with Krakoa in exile in spirit." Nightcrawler says the Krakoan mutants are trapped in the White Hot Room, lost forever. But Exodus, returning to the fight and attacking a Sentinel, says the people of Krakoa will return, that the Krakoan age will come again. Nightcrawler asks Destiny if they can win but she still sees no victory.
The Krakoan mutants including the Five minus Hope and Jumbo Carnation are stuck in the White Hot Krakoan Room arguing around a table trying to figure out how they will function, who will do what, etc. Little Kafka gets annoyed and tells everyone to shut up. He tells the room that they have to be better than this, that they have no rulers, no leaders, no heroes. That they have to be the Quiet Council and that means they have to listen. He takes charge and starts working to assign tasks such as food supply, tutoring, teaching. It's a bittersweet last page as that little hero is determined to make Krakoa, despite being lost in the White Hot Room.

X-Men: Forever #4, 2024 (10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th pics)
- - - -- --------
The trapped Krakoan mutants in the White Hot Room reminds me of the ending of Drifting Classroom manga when the elementary school students in the bad future dimension cannot go home after several tries. So the trapped students decide to stay and work together in the ruined future to build a new civilization.

The Birth of Krakoa's X-Men
The X-Men were disbanded at the Dawn of the Krakoan Age for political and messaging reasons. Not every mutant was an X-Man, and media etc often referred to groups of mutants thusly.
Tumblr media
The Otherworld X of Swords crisis was underway and not looking good for Krakoa. Cable contacted his parents in despair after losing to Bei The Blood Moon and with the scoreboard heavily in Arakko's favour.
Tumblr media
They decided to do something about that.
Tumblr media
Sebastian Shaw is such a prick. He was unnecessary to Krakoan governance, but I can see why they'd want to keep an eye on him.
Tumblr media
Sinister is also a prick, and I'm with Moira that they shouldn't have invited him in.
Tumblr media
Fair point from the more reasonable Exodus, though ironically the council could probably win the day alone.
Sigh, narratively I love the messy and high handed power plays - but as someone who wants mutants to win the Quiet Council should have been a very temporary mode of government. Provisional, with building a representative and accountable body a priority. Especially when you have access to advanced telepathy. Cypher is blameless though of course - a sweet cinnamon roll.
Tumblr media
The vote is in.
Tumblr media
The tension between the state and individuals is fascinating in a polity where everyone is kinda part of the militia. Or powerful enough to be.
Tumblr media
This should have been a wake up call - to remove these blatant conflicts of interest and bring more people into the decision making. Again, the narrative demands they make these mistakes and put themselves in impossible positions. Immortal X-Men doubled down on this theme and took it to its logical end point. However, I don't think it was ever unsalvageable. Murder robots killed Krakoa, not mutants.
Tumblr media
Anyway, Scott and Jean say 'fuck this cop energy, we're going to war, uhh I mean to be heroes. Thus, the X-Men were reborn and ironically became the most democratic part of Krakoa. X-MEN THEME DOT EM PEE THREE 🔥🚨

Ok I think this is going to be my last post about Arcane until the next batch of episodes drop but
It's so interesting to me how intentionally or unintentionally Jinx and the chem barons reflect back onto Piltover magnified mirrors of the harm Piltover does to Zaun.
Piltover sends enforcers down into Zaun to put down their push for independence (thereby denying Zaunites the right of self determination) - ok Jinx is going to launch a Rocket at the site of Piltover's leaders.
Jayce goes down into Zaun and uses the Enforcers and drops his (very literal) hanmer to brute force enact his will on the people in that factory and ends up killing a child- ok then that child's mother is going to come up here and use a massive chainsaw to hurt Jayce.
Caitlyn goes down into Zaun and releases The Grey ("strategically") into their streets- ok here's all that Grey back.
The last one is the greatest too because literally all Jinx did was add paint and increase the volume of wind. Piltover is acting like there's been this huge chemical attack, but this is how Zaun lives everday. The Grey wasn't a problem when the Zaunites were breathing it in everyday was it?
