Sparkstember, Day 16: Gratuitous Sax & Senseless Violins

One of the things that's bugged me the most about leaving my last two Sparkstembers incomplete is that I never got to talk about "When Do I Get To Sing 'My Way.'" That's what I get for trying to save it for the Favorite Song days, I guess.

But it's true! Between its mix of great dance music with heartbreaking lyrics and the music history references that add even more layers to it, this song was basically engineered to a massive favorite of mine, both by Sparks and in general. And while Sparks have so many songs I adore, I can't deny that this one is on a level all its own.

Ranking Sparks songs based on the reaction they get on karaoke night

due to the sheer amount of songs in the sparks discography, some of the albums are a little underrepresented in the karaoke world.

certain songs on gratuitous sax & senseless violins might be generally lesser suited for karaoke than others, but sparks nation, be not afraid! for i pledge to craft beautiful karaoke experiences for at least some of the songs on this masterful album. i dream of a world in which every single one of us can terrorize our neighbors with i thought i told you to wait in the car. and for that i stand with my name. amen.
