saw this post and now i can't stop thinking about how will never talks casually around hannibal despite us knowing he is fully capable of doing so.

that scene with molly on the phone demonstrates this so well- will is fully capable of chatting and joking around and not talking through indirect gestures nearing the realm of poetry, but he never does that with hannibal.

with hannibal he speaks like a poet. not to say he's rambunctious around everyone else, of course he's a quiet and blunt person. but as their connection continues on, will seems to pick up hannibal's artsy, aesthetic, scholarly way of speaking. mirroring the one person who makes him feel safe.

it seems like anything other than poetry doesn't feel adequate for them, the way they make each other feel isn't done justice by anything casual. it'd be like calling the sistine chapel "cool". when they speak to each other, all the words that leave their mouths are always completely intentional. they treat conversation like a flirty game of chess.

i love hannibal because its a love story told through the lens of violence and murder and pain and torture, but its all about something as soft and sweet as two people not knowing how to speak to each other.

i think that's a large part of why their love feels so warm despite everything. it's earnest, it's juvenile, and it's beauty is most often manifested through carefully thought out words, and the occasional indirect confession of how much they matter to the other. they don't need touch, they just want to make poetry out of one another ˊᵕˋ

a non-subtext hannibal sex scene would be like: *will in therapy with bedelia, slutty outfit on, recounting the event just to torment her* *tasteful artsy shots of hannigram doing it (flesh sliding against flesh, close-ups of trembling eyelashes, drops of sweat rolling down skin)* *metal pipes tumbling down the stairs dot mp3 gets louder* *alternating shots of them in the kitchen and in the bedroom: a knife cutting into meat, a hand brushing a knife scar. swallowing wine, swallowing bodily fluids. etc.* *will narrating over it like: "to know is to consume and to consume is to become... and hannibal knows me, with all the teeth at his disposal..."* *interspersed shots of them procuring the 'food': knife stab parallels the other kind of penetration, a frightened scream is followed by one of rupture* *"we teach each other to hunger and to yearn, and we feed one another over.. and over.. and over"* *cut to bedelia looking like she will bill him six times her usual fee*

You don’t understand, I NEED to see how Adrien would pretend to be Félix for something. I need some sort of situation where Félix needs Adrien to pretend to be him for a few hours so he can get away for a while and for Adrien to at first be like, “You sure? I’m kinda rusty but I think I can pull it off!” And then for Adrien to immediately dial up the dramatics the second he’s in Félix’s clothes.

I need Adrien to exaggerate all of his cousin’s traits, being over the top cryptic, cold, and snarky one moment then a dramatic showman the next. I need Adrien to visibly be having so much fun because he’s helping his cousin by making fun of him a little. I need Félix to witness Adrien’s performance and be like, “Oh no, he’s terrible, this was a mistake—” but then be absolutely wrecked by the knowledge that NOBODY is noticing a difference aside from like, Kagami and have a mini crisis of “Is this how I act?? That’s not how I act?? How are they falling for this??”

And by the end of it Adrien is like, “Y’know, that was really fun! We should do this more often, I see why you do it all the time! :D” And Félix is just sitting there. Head in hands. Grappling with this new information.

Also just:

Adrien, pulling out an absurd amount of stolen rings out of his pockets: Also what do you do with these once you’ve got them? I might’ve committed to the role a little too much.

Kagami, nodding along very seriously: Your method acting is incredible.
