if you have a tbr list/pile (books/comics/poetry/etc):
what title(s) are you currently reading?
books:
i have a terrible habit of starting novels and not finishing them lately so current books i have on the go are norwegian wood, brothers karamazov, brideshead revisited, emma, and i just started rereading the raven boys again. my 2025 goal is to finish a goddamn book
non-fiction is currently ekaterinburg by helen rappaport! she's absolutely one of my fav historians to read because her writing is so dynamic
comics:
for ongoing comics, batgirl (2024) (SUPREME!!!), green arrow (2023), poison ivy (2022), black canary: best of the best (2024), and scarlet witch (whatever year that is because it keeps restarting)
my back issue reading however... none. i finished my post-crisis spreadsheet and now i'm free. until i start my new 52 reading list at least
what title(s) are up next on your reading list?
books: see above... raven boys first and then brideshead next
comics: unfortunately delfis has convinced me to read new 52 nightwing so i guess that 🤸 but also i will be reading for damian wayne so that's various titles but i'm excited for that
what title(s) are your emotional support TBRs and you’re planning to get around to them. One day. When the stars align?
oh god. uhhh comics i don't really have one of these but for books. good lord. my tbr doesn't exist in writing because it's too long for that. crime and punishment, jane eyre, wuthering heights, northanger abbey, merchant of venice, taming of the shrew, macbeth, london by edward rutherfurd, white nights, the idiot, the goldfinch, rebecca, spqr by mary beard, cassandra by christa wolf, the winternight trilogy, about a dozen history books, another half-dozen novels i own but haven't read yet......
have you taken anything out of your TBR pile recently, and why?
clearly not... clearly not
tagging ummm i don't know who's been tagged yet. @zaubermaerchen @murderballadeer @moxieestar @dustorange @dykedatasoong @lesbianboyfriend @angelozi
#p#tag game#i will finish a book this year inshallah god willing par la grace de dieu si dios quiera

Trop grand. A selection of looks from the 18th Century equivalent of the MET Gala (aka The Queen's Drawing Room) in March 1789.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/3c8221236f49c5c77c41ddf3f40ec73e/6174358e2c69d317-c6/s540x810/570f4a14d6fbdee15af6800e386dc6ea1f7d9649.jpg)
(To help with your mental images - this would have been roughly the court silhouette at the time.)
Queen Charlotte - "Was dressed in purple, silver and orange body and train; the petticoat likewise of purple and silver, richly embroidered upon crape. Her Majesty’s head-dress was the most superb and beautiful that ever appeared at Court. A bandeau of purple sattin was fastened around the cap, with a motto in diamonds of “GOD SAVE THE KING.
Round the Queen’s neck was a medallion, tied with a double row of gold chain, and across her shoulders was another chain of three rows of pearls, and five rows of diamonds fastened low behind, with a fine miniature portrait of the KING, studded with diamonds, hanging in front. The tippet was of fine lace, and fastened with the letter G. in diamonds."
The Duchess of Gordon - "White sattin, superbly spangled in gold, and drawn up with a bandeau of the most costly embroidery, imitating the sun [in] the fullness of its glory. The petticoat was festooned in a beautiful manner with branches of oak."
The Duchess of Devonshire - "A white sattin petticoat most superbly embroidered with wreaths of foil, flowers and stones, the gown of dark green sattin, richly embroidered with spangles; and a most beautiful diamond stomacher."
Lady Lloyd - "A crape petticoat, over one of white sattin, with stripes of purple velvet, ornamented with gold and stones, representing peacock feathers. The train purple, trimmed with crape.
Her Ladyship's cap had a painting, describing Britannia kneeling and offering praises to heaven for the recovery of the King, very richly ornamented with diamonds, blond, flowers, and feathers. In the front, "Dieu nous le rend," (God restores him to us,) embroidered in gold letters."
Mr. Pitt - "A green and rose striped velvet, richly embroidered with gold and silver stones; the waistcoat of white satin, embroidered as the coat."
The Hon. Mr. Edgecumbe - "A blue and brown shaded velvet, most superbly embroidered with diamonds and point lace, with beautiful bouquets of flowers; the waistcoat of white satin, embroidered the same"
Sir John Marriott - "Sea green striped velvet, with gold tissue embroidered waistcoat."
and my personal best dressed -
The Duchess of Rutland (who was making her first appearance at court since the death of her husband) - "The time allotted by the decree of fashion for customary suits of solemn black, and all the trappings of widowed woe, being expired, her Grace, lovely in her person, and attractive in her manners, came forward in all the fullness of splendor, and in imitation of the Heavens when they declare, by a rainbow, that the tears of the sky have stopped, wore a dress of embroidered crape, fashioned in such a manner as to resemble that variegated sign of an unclouded atmosphere. But we are at a loss to find out what was meant by the gold-spangled darts of lightning that appeared through this rainbow, unless that her Grace meant them as emblematical of what her eyes can do, now that the day of weeping’s over. To write, however, in more plain terms, we shall state exactly what her Grace had on. It was an embroidered crape, something in imitation of a rainbow, having variety in its colours, and being ornamented with gold spangles which really appeared like darts of lightning through the crape, and gave it a most superb appearance. Her head-dress of white crape, with a towering branch of ostrich feathers, and the motto of God save the King, in white and gold."

SniperSpy and the stereotypical "Oh mon dieu I'm stuck with the bushman at a gala" setup but Sniper sweeps Spy off his feet with a surprisingly social personality and graceful dancing.
"What the hell? Where did you-"
"I've always said, Spook." Sniper smirked, his footwork so clean that it nearly made Spy trip. "I'm a professional."
"You're a goddamn isolationist and a social freakshow. Tell me how the fuck you act so classy now." Spy hissed as Sniper pulled him closer on the third beat.
Sniper's smug smile was nothing but proud.
"Ah ah, language." He chided. "We're in high society."

Live broadcast of ‘Le Sacre de Napoléon V’ on the national channel Francesim 2, hosted by Stéphane Bernard
(Stéphane Bernard) The Emperor will become a quasi-sacred figure through the anointing: it is a sort of transfiguration. The imperial canopy conceals this profoundly sacred moment because the rite must remain a mystery to the common mortals. We are witnessing a revival of the triple blessing from the Reims ceremonial of the kings of Francesim. Their Majesties, kneeling before the altar, receive the triple anointing from the Pope: one on the forehead, the others on both hands. First the Emperor, then the Empress.
In his prayer, the Pope asks God to bestow the treasures and graces of His blessings upon the Emperor. He prays that the Emperor will govern with strength, justice, loyalty, foresight, courage, and perseverance. The Emperor must combat Evil and defend the holy Christian Church. The Empress, for her part, receives God's support, and that of Christ, to preserve the Empire and the French people for eternity.
(Stéphane Bernard) Such a ceremonial highlights the spiritual and mystical dimension of the imperial monarchy. It is a moment steeped in tradition, where every gesture, every word, carries deep symbolism, reminding us of the sacred bonds that unite the sovereign to his people and to God. (Mgr. Morlot) Almighty and eternal God, who have decreed that, following the example of David, Solomon, and Joash, the foreheads of Kings and Emperors should be adorned with a diadem, so that, through the brilliance of their gemstones and the splendor of their ornaments, they might serve as a vivid and striking image of the majesty that surrounds you to the peoples while they reign on earth…
(Mgr. Morlot) … Pour out, we beseech you, your blessing upon these crowns, so that your servant Napoleon and his spouse, who will wear them on earth, may shine with the radiance of all virtues.
(Pope) May God encircle your brow with the crown of glory and justice...
(Pope) ... May He arm you with strength and courage so that, blessed by Heaven through our hands, filled with faith and good works, you may reach the crown of the eternal kingdom…
(Pope) ... By the grace of Him whose reign and empire extend throughout all ages and ages. Amen.
(Napoléon V) Amen.
⚜ Le Sacre de Napoléon V | N°11 | Francesim, Paris, 28 Thermidor An 230
While the bells ring out and the cannons roar, the Emperor and Empress of Francesim are crowned at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. It was broadcast live on television by Stéphane Bernard, the famous journalist for the crowned heads in Francesim.
Beginning ▬ Previous ▬ Next
Amen. (Napoléon V) Amen.
