The Frog
Tumblr media
TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2024
The Frog (2024, South Korea)
Director: Mo Wan Il
Writer: Son Ho Young
Mini-review:
Wow, I didn't think I would enjoy The Frog so much. I guess I was in the mood for a dark, propulsive thriller. I've seen some people say it's 'slow', but like... where? This kept me glued to the screen from the very first episode, and it got more and more intense throughout the next ones. It even ventures into psychological horror territory from time to time, which made it even more fun to me. The writing isn't perfect (some of the characters aren't as well developed as they should), but the directing and the acting more than make up for it. Go Min Si turns in a particularly strong performance, and it's clear she gave it her all. I'm not gonna say this is the best thriller k-drama I've seen, but it was definitely enjoyable as hell.

Never Twice. 8.5
Story: 8
Acting: 10
Chemistry: 10
Comparable to: Beautiful Love, Wonderful Life, (kdrama) ;Homemade Love Story (kdrama)
It’s a family story drama with 72 episodes (32min long). Is it worthwhile watching. Absolutely. It’s hella melodramatic though, so keep that in mind going in. You have a corrupt family, a somewhat vengeful widow, a suicidal couple, a golfer, two adults nearing their 50s who act like they’re in their 20s and a cute older couple. It can get a bit bonkers at times especially towards the later half, the ending had me rolling my eyes on how everyone ended up in one big happy family. And I mean EVERYONE. It’s still a really nice drama even with its ups and downs especially with the main leads who had a beautiful storyline that was written brilliantly for them. I mean the chemistry between the two. *chefs kiss*

D.P. (Season 2)
Tumblr media
TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2023
D.P. (Season 2, 2023, South Korea)
Director: Han Jun Hee
Writers: Kim Bo Tong & Han Jun Hee
Mini-review:
The moment has finally come: Netflix's best Korean Original has made its return with a second season. And these two years of waiting have been more than worth it. It seemed impossible but, somehow, this new season is even better than the first one. It preserves all of its many strengths, and then it takes them to the next level. Both the directing and the writing are amazingly intense. I spent six whole hours on the edge of my seat, biting my nails to the quick, and the last two episodes left me breathless. I also loved the show's attempts at experimenting, like the musicality in episode 3 or the horror undertones in episode 4. As for the acting, is there anything left to say? This is a cast full of incredible actors, and all of them give career-best performances. This time round, Jung Hae In and Son Suk Ku are probably the MVPs, but everyone does a flawless job. To sum up, this second season blew away my sky-high expectations, and I really hope we get a third one, cause TV shows don't get better than this.
P.S. There's a lot of triggering content here, so please be careful with that. Those of you who watched the first season already know this, but I'm saying it just in case.

Night has come- Episode 5 and 6 (INCLUDES SPOILERS)(WARNING: LOOOOOONNNGGG RANT AHEAD)
AGAIN, this post includes spoilers (All my posts do) so if you haven't seen this episode, I recommend not to read this post.
However, if you want to know just how bad your mind will be mess up, you are welcome to stay.
.
.
.
.
.
.
First of all
Tumblr media
I had this very interesting post that I was about to post in which I explained how the girl with the ax in the intro was Lee Yoon Seo, and now I see that it was a good idea not to post it because it would have made me look stupid considering what happened at the end of episode six.
So, that saved me.
EPISODE 5:
A FREAKING ROLLERCOASTER.
It was kind of obvious that Park Woo Ram was Mafia but the way it was delivered? that was unexpected. But let's not jump ahead of the whole kidnapping/dividing thing, because WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT IT.
I, for once, knew Go Kyung Jun was going to be a pain in the butt but I will not take away the credit for his intelligence.
Like, the way he was right about who was the mafia? That was detective work right there. The way he delivered the confession? I won't lie, torture is a good way to make someone confess to something you had no part of but Woo Ram was mafia.
THE TORTURE:
I am sure Kyung Jun is a citizen. I have no proof but I have zero doubts. But, I do think that he'll be able to kill somebody if it means protecting himself or someone he cares about.
As it was shown in episode 5, he tortured Woo Ram to get a confession out of him, and as an avid reader of mafia romances -and currently writing my own, if I may say- the way he managed the torture was exceptional.
Tumblr don't flag me, but a girl has to admit when torture is on point, and this one was. It wasn't the physical torture that surprised me but the psychological. The way he would smile in a clear way that showed he didn't care about making somebody suffer was the CHERRY IN TOP OF THE ICE.
(And if I may mention, he is very cute.)
However, every bad character has a soft side and as we saw when he locked himself in the canteen, he started crying because he caused someone to die, and he tortured someone and everybody hates him so that ought to hurt.
THE SECRET PATHWAY:
When I tell you my mouth went
Tumblr media
I have a feeling
AND THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT FEELING
That the ghost is trying to help Yoon Seo, as a matter of fact, I don't even think Woo Seok is dead but I'll dive into that theory later.
What I mean by the ghost trying to help Yoon Seo, I mean that the ghost seems to be leaving clues for her to find. Why is the ghost doing this? I don't know but I'm sure they are connected somehow.
When Yoon Seo found the secret room, I have to admit I was a bit disappointed in how she didn't stay longer to investigate.
Girl reads crime and mystery novels, and she just looked for a bit and left.
If that had been me? I would have looked through the freaking cameras in the room to try and find out who was the mafia (We know who is the mafia, we are expecting the results) but she just left, so that was a bit disappointing.
I feel the ghost is making every clue obvious for her to find because she is not looking properly. You would expect her to be more invested into the whole thing but as of right now the only thing she has found was how the second body didn't had defense marks and the black light used to look at the door.
The door was obvious, it was not as if someone could break a door open like that with the power of hate.
However, everything else has been the ghost doing. Finding the entry to the secret hall? The ghost pushed the boxes.
The picture? The ghost had to put a light on it so she would actually find it interesting.
The exit? Again, the ghost had to say "Girl, it's this way" and I find that hilarious.
The ghost is carrying the show.
THE GAME:
This game is cheating in the most awful way possible. Like, it is legal for someone to not vote! But the game changed the rules and now they either vote or die.
As I approach the ending, I am allowed to touch the rules of the game.
Everybody must vote. As we saw in episode 3, the consequences are catastrophic. Great way to get rid of most of the cast.
The game must take place inside the designated zone. I am not a tech wizard but there must be some kind of sensor that alerts whoever is controlling this game when someone steps out, right?
If two people have the same amount of votes, then the voting has to be repeated and if it happens again, then they all die.
The third one was genius. Like, I can't find any crack in the rules and that is amazing and frustrating.
and finally,
what we were all expecting,
Tumblr media
Woo Seok dying:
This was sad, and it probably hurt me more than it hurt Yoon Seo
BUT
I don't think he is dead
Like, sure. His head did the ringing of possession and his eyes went white but I don't think he died.
I think he is alive
I think he is not a mafia
I think he is controlling the game
GOSH, IT FEELS GOOD TO SAY IT.
Why do I think he is not dead?
All the other deaths have been very gruesome
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(This is just an example, I won't put all of them)
Even the ones with the pillow and the curtain were gruesome and awful but Woo Seok?
Tumblr media
Look at that
His head is not even underwater,
his body is not belly down
he is just there
floating,
like a water lili
He looks like a model.
So I don't think he is dead
Him dying defies the purpose of the whole show
He wants to protect Yoon Seo and dying won't grant him that
Now, if he is actually dead then that was a stupid move from the producers but I'm sure we'll get our plot twist.
KIM SO MI:
We all knew she was mafia.
We all know she wants to survive
But she is a psycho
Like, real psycho
Why all of them thought that leaving the ax out while there is a killer on the loose was a good idea, I don't know, but she has it and she has a victim in mind.
Tumblr media
The end of episode six clearly shows her about to slice Yoon Seo open, but the the screen goes dark and she screams
And I don't think it was a scream of "Getting ready to kill you in the most awful way possible" but I think it was a scream of "Something is awful and I am about to die."
I think the ghost showed up, or the doctor/police stopped her
It may be hopeful thinking, but I think she is dead
like, really dead.
Yoon Seo can't die. She is the main character and even though kdrama writers and producers are fond of killing the main characters (we all know what I mean) killing Yoon Seo would be a stupid move.
Yoon Seo remains alive, So Mi? I'm not sure.
Now, this is not a point but just some questions and theories I have.
Why is Oh Jung Won so protective of Yoon Seo? I mean, I would also defend my best friend with my life but the way Jung Won is so protective makes me think there is something else happening here.
Jin Da Beom. He is one of the main characters. Why is he a main character acting like an extra? This is annoying me.
This may be random, and this is me being crazy but I am SO SURE that if Kyung Jun and Yoon Seo joined forces, they would find the mafia.
Besides, the way he only stops when she speaks? I may romanticizing stuff but you don't join kdrama land while being sane.
You are welcome to call me out in something I may have mistaken, and you are welcome to share your theories with me too!
Until next episode.

mary janes | lee seokmin
Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: lee seokmin x reader
warning: non-idol au, kindergarten teacher!seokmin, fluff & romance, kissing, mentions of marriage, slightly suggestive, seokmin uses love & sweetheart, reader uses love and seokmin's nicknames, reader is called mrs. lee by the children, christmas is literally so in, the usual "seokmin soft hours" turn into "(not-so) soft seokmin hours"
Kids ran around like crazy as people started to settle into their seats, and the kindergarten teachers patrolled backstage, browsing to make sure all of their kids were ready and in position. You smiled at two of them as they passed, and they waved at you, familiar with you since you were related to Seokmin, your boyfriend of a year and one of the aforementioned kindergarten teachers.
“Ji-ah?” Seokmin asked, and a tiny female voice answered with a chirpy “Here!”, causing him to smile and mark at his clipboard again. “Seojoon–we are not using the confetti baskets yet. Put them down.” Seokmin sighed tiredly, and the troublemaker reluctantly applied, dropping the basket as other kids snickered.
“Alright, everyone! We’re almost there—” Seokmin consoles the impatient children, glancing down at his watch as he smiles. “Just twenty more minutes.”
“Twenty more minutes?” A little girl asks, and half of the class groans and sighs. “I can’t wait any more! I want to go sing now!” “Why do we have to wait?” “Ugh, this is gonna take forever!” The bunch of kids started complaining, little voices coming together to make a stew of impatient sounds, to which Seokmin had to silence them all.
“If you all listen to me and just continue having quiet talking sessions, time will fly by quickly, I promise,” Seokmin’s brown eyes were wide as he gave them a sweet smile, and all of them were easily persuaded, falling to the ground as they sat with their friends and talked.
Warm with the feeling of greeting parents, grandparents, and family members, and the lingering spirit of decorating the school’s lobby and handing out candy canes warming your heart even more, you came to approach your boyfriend, tapping him on the shoulder as he turned to you.
“And there’s my love.” His voice softened, reminding you of the intimate times you spent at home together, baking Christmas cookies or decorating your small apartment.
“Hi, sweetheart.” Seokmin kissed your cheek, and you smiled, holding his hand as you greeted him. “Hi, Seok. Is everything going well?”
He laughs dryly, rubbing his forehead tiredly as he mumbles, “Surprisingly. I think it’s a Christmas miracle.” You laugh animatedly at his apparent tiredness, and you squeeze his muscled arm hiding under his collared black suit, giving him a sweet smile.
“You’re doing great, love.” You promise, and Seokmin can’t help but break into his signature dazzling smile, leaning into you as a type of discreet hug.
“Mrs. Lee!” One of the students happily exclaims, and the whole class erupts in cheers to which you try to calm them all, pulling away to give each of them a hug.
All of Seokmin’s class were enamored with you—they treated you so much differently from Seokmin and listened to you faster than they did any teacher.
They referred to you with Seokmin’s last name, and no matter how much you corrected them, they never stopped. Even though it made you blush, Seokmin found it quite cute, and therefore the kids continued to call you Mrs. Lee.
“Hi, everyone! Are we all excited?” You ask, and the small crowd of kids erupt into cheers and chatting, to which both you and Seokmin get them to quiet down. “I’m excited to hear you all too. Just please keep quiet for me, okay? We’re starting in ten minutes now.”
“Ten minutes?” “Ten minutes!” “That’s still so long!” “Oh, I can’t wait to sing and wave to my mommy and daddy!” The kids all run up to you and express their excitement, to which you laugh and cheer them all on as you interact with them quietly.
Seokmin’s eyes light up with love for you as he watches you interact with his students like it’s second nature to you. You weren’t a teacher or a person who worked with kids often, as you were a barista at a low-energy cafe where college students spend their mid-terms: you still interacted with children like you were made for it, and it made Seokmin’s heart pound as you hugged a rather shy girl, making sure to comfort her apparent nerves.
At that moment in time, Seokmin wondered what it would be like to give you a baby of your own. He dreamed about how it would have his nose and your soft lips, and how you’d love it and take care of it just like you did the children of his classroom. A tiny boy’s hands wrapped around your hands had Seokmin’s heart melt a little more, and he had to bite back the urge to kiss you out of your pretty red dress and Mary Jane heels you had worn for the occasion.
“Mr. Lee, I have to tinkle.” The shockingly vulgar comment slapped Seokmin back into the now—back into the craziness of there being less than five minutes before the classes assembled on the stage, and back to the fact that a little boy about the age of 5 had to pee.
“You have to use the bathroom? Now?” Seokmin’s face was quite red from the fact he was thinking about some not-so-kindergarten-friendly things about you while surrounded by five-year-olds and a child had tugged on his pants to let him know that he had to tinkle.
“Mhm, I can’t wait.” The boy frowned, and Seokmin put his hand on the boy’s back, leading him to you as he sighed. “Hey, love, can you take Seunghae to the bathroom?” Seokmin sighed, and you looked at him surprised, stunned by both his reddened face and the red face of the kid who had to use the bathroom—currently holding his crotch with an urgency in his eyes. Wanting to question Seokmin as to why his cheeks were a bright red, you nodded quickly, escorting Seungjae to the tiny, slightly rickety bathroom backstage.
Once you finally got Seungjae to stop sniffing the scented cubes decorating the dusty bathroom, you ushered him back to Seokmin’s now-standing class, inserting him into the line as all the kids were giving Seokmin tiny thumbs up as he prepared to go out and speak to the eager congregation.
“You’ve got this, Minnie. You’re gonna do great.” You give him a quick, modest peck to his warm cheekbone, and he smiles at you, eyes raking over your pretty features he had memorized a thousand times before as he fell in love with you a little more. “Thank you, sweetheart. Keep them organized for me.”
You smile before quieting the kids, giving him a pretty, dazzling smile as he feels all his worries and tenseness wither away in the blink of your sparkling eyes. He enters the stage as a new person, overjoyed and more than ready to lead the children through the Christmas program he had worked so hard to present.
“Goodbye, Mr. Lee! See you in three weeks!” One of the girls you had recognized as one of the ones who had a massive crush on Seokmin squealed, and he smiled, handing the sign-out clipboard to another parent whose child was holding onto his hand, tears in his eyes as if he didn’t want to leave.
The Christmas program was a success—even with its slipups and unexpected plot twists. All the children were on their best behavior, even if some had their unexpected spotlights (referring to that one part of 12 Days of Christmas where the kid burst out into tears instead of saying five golden rings), and the parents gave everyone a standing ovation at the end.
“I don’t wanna leave you!” The kid screamed as tears poured down his face, and Seokmin dropped to his knees, wiping the tears away from the boy as he gave a soft smile.
“You have three weeks of no school and no counting! Enjoy it for me, okay?” Seokmin holds up his hand for a high five, and the boy slowly calms down, giving him a high five nevertheless as his dad picks him up and thanks Seokmin before saying goodbye.
“Good work tonight, love. You were great with the kids. I think they love you more than me.” Seokmin frowns, and you can’t help but laugh, hand landing on his firm chest as he smiles down at you. “I love you more than me, so I can’t pretend like they’re wrong for that.” You reply, and Seokmin glares at you, a playful yet warning look on his face as he crosses his arms.
“You better not love yourself more than me. You’re just as special to you as I am to you.” Seokmin’s voice is serious, and you kiss the tip of his nose, watching as his hard countenance breaks and reveals his famous wide smile and sparkling, crescent-shaped eyes as you sigh.
“Okay, okay. Don’t lose it just yet, Mr. Lee.” You tap his lapel, and he just grins at you, smile fading just a bit as you check the clipboard, your eyes dancing over the now checked-off names.
“Well, that’s everyone,” You mark the last name off on the clipboard, double-checking as you look at Seokmin again. His eyes are already on yours, and the soft smile on his lips is enough to make your whole body heat up. “What?”
“You look so pretty, baby. I love your Mary Janes and those delicate sparkly tights you have on.” Seokmin’s hand ghosts over your waist and glides down your hip slowly before you giggle, pulling away. “Thank you, Minnie—you do know we’re still in the school’s foyer, right?”
“I do,” Seokmin’s voice is lowered, and he looks at you with those pretty brown eyes, hand going to cup your cheek as he smiles. “We are done with the Christmas program, and I’m allowed to go home, so why don’t we change that?”
“Yeah, okay,” you agree, clearly softened by Seokmin’s smooth, enticing voice. He giggles at your dazed expression and takes your hand, quickly saying goodbye to his chatting co-workers before leading you to the car.
Even though it was cold outside and snow was falling, you didn’t feel the chill at all. It felt overwhelmingly warm between you and now hot and bothered boyfriend Seokmin, and you both knew there was only one way to solve that problem.
One you couldn’t solve with your pretty Mary Janes on.

Kdramas i've watched this year
Some of these are older dramas but i'm a procrastinator
Black Knight (2023): Loved this one! I have watched it probably 5 times now. Kim Woobin kicking ass is all i need!
Under the Queen's Umbrella (2022): I didn't watch this when it aired (no idea why). I was worried that the plot would be overrun by romance but thankfully i was wrong. Loved Kim Hye-Soo's performance (i cried a little).
Island seasons 1 & 2 (2022-2023): Honestly i only started this one for Kim Nam-Gil. I loved the cast, but the flow of the plot was a little off (don't know how, i can't put a finger on it). Was positively suprised by Cha Eun-Woo's acting, i think he needs more roles like this! Hot villain alert no.1! Sung Joon as a bad guy is either a blessing or a curse. Cgi could have been better.
Taxi Driver season 2 (2023): Loved the first season so of course i had to watch the second one. Love Lee Je-Hoon. Love the main characters. Love the plot and the message of this drama. A masterpiece. Waiting for season 3.
Weak Hero Class 1 (2022): Only heard of this drama wayyy after it aired (thanks tiktok) and god does it deserve every award there is! I was a bit hesitant because Park Ji-Hoon was the main lead, but boy was i wrong because his talent got me speechless (weren't we all). I cried, i cheered, i shadowboxed, i cried a little more and in the end i called my therapist. Thankfully season 2 is coming.
Bloodhounds (2023): Woo Do-whan and Lee Sang-Yi in the same drama beating people up? Yes please! The plot wasn't mindblowing, but sometimes just simple ass kicking is enough. Bromance was bromancing. Park Sung-Woong with another great villain character.
Revenant (2023): After dropping Mr.Sunshine i wanted to see Kim Tae-ri in other dramas, so when this aired i gave it a go. Her range is phenomenal! I have only seen couple spookier dramas, so i made a mistake and watched this at night (slept with the lights on). The eerie vibes and plot twists were well made. Hong Kyung had great chemistry with Kim Tae-ri and his cop role was refreshing to see after his performance in Weak Hero Class (if you know you know).
Flower of Evil (2020): Okay, this is one of the dramas i procrastinated hard on. It's been sitting on my "have to watch" list since it aired and i'm the only one to blame (i hype up a drama in my mind, then don't want to watch it because now i'm afraid it doesn't go the way i think it does and then i get disappointed blaablaablaa). This year i finally got over myself and why. didn't. i. watch. it. sooner!!!! It is all i ever wanted in a kdrama. 1. serial killers 2. a psychopath (but is he really?) w/ an effed up childhood 3. mindgames 4. marriage problems (but has a lot of soft & cute scenes) 5. Lee Joon-Gi. Also as a plus (hot villain alert no.2) the bad guy is kindaa (i'm sane i swear). I would be lying if i didn't say that i found the wife slightly annoying (might be me, but she went too much back & forth and sometimes i had to take a breather while watching), but all in all this drama will be hard to top and i fell in love with Lee Joon-Gi.
Moving (2023): Honestly one of the best dramas of the year. I don't usually really go for plots that have a lot of romance in them (if you haven't noticed), but i found this one to be really well balanced and the romance scenes weren't "cringy". Although Bong-Seok and Hui-Soo were great and had great chemistry, i looooved the background stories of the parents. Park Hee-Soon also pops up as kind of a non-villain villain. I hope there is a season 2.
Song of the Bandits (2023): Kim Nam-Gil again. 1920s Korea and gunslingers... what more could i need? After Mr. Sunshine left me with a disappointment (this might be an unpopular opinion) i craved for a drama set around the same time period, but with a little less romance (i know, i am defective). I think dramas should explore this time period more, but i understand it might still be a touchy subject. The skills of the cast were obviously great, Kim Nam-Gil killed his role like always, but Lee Ho-Jung as Eon-Nyeon shined with her performance (i am now a new fan). Hot villain alert no.3! I have seen Lee Hyun-Wook in Remarriage & Desires and seeing him as a villain made me feel things. If there isn't a second season i will cry.
The Killing Vote (2023): A "serial killer" in a dog mask making the public vote on punishing criminals and everyone suspects each other? Cyber crime? Chemistry between two cops? Major hot villain (no.4)? Sign me up. I love when crime dramas make you question your people reading skills (i have the tism so i really got none) and have all kinds of theories flying around. I liked that even Kim Mu-Chan and Joo Hyun had obvious chemistry between them it didn't overshadow the main point of the plot. I liked Seo Young-Joo's delivery and i hope he gets more bigger roles. Kim Kwon.... why does the psychopath have to be hot? He also needs more bigger roles. !spoiler! Also Park Sung-Woong killing (heh) yet another morally grey character.
The Worst of Evil (2023): Okay, first of all i have to say... the wife ruined everything (some agree and some don't). We get another bromance duo of the year with Wi Ha-Joon and Ji Chang-Wook. Loved the crime organization infiltration plot, heavily despised the romance plot (sorry Bibi baby). I was constantly on the edge of my seat and the characters started to get so morally grey that in the end everyone needs group therapy. Action scenes were chefs kiss. A honorable mention goes for Lee Shin-Ki as Seo Jong-Ryul (or Chief Seo, knife guy, the man has many names) and Bibi for her performance as Lee Hae-Ryeon.
Evilive (2023): Heavily underrated. Kim Young-Kwang doing what he does best, playing a psychopath. This combined with a bromance plot with the one and only bromance master Shin Ha-Kyun? I'm sold. The dramas literal title "villain story" really sums up the plot. Sometimes you are not sure who to cheer for. Sometimes you are not really sure about your own sanity. But to be fair, so aren't the main characters.
Vigilante (2023): Love it. Currently re-watching it. Needs more attention. Needs more episodes. I'm in love with Nam Joo-Hyuk. The best crime drama of the year, the title is all i needed to hear. Beating up criminals in well made action scenes is my favorite genre. No romance. One sided bromance? Morally grey characters (am i repeating myself now?). Yoon Ji-Tae as a beefy cop and Lee Joon-Hyuk as a slightly insane admirer? If we don't get a season 2 i will start a riot.
