-P03 anon :3
P03 anon my beloved. Thank you for the request!
AIs receiving lots of affection
Included: AM from IHNMAIMS, Wheatley from Portal 2, Edgar from Electric Dreams, GLaDOS from Portal, HAL 9000 from 2001 a space Odyssey
AM:
At first, AM was extremely confused when you first started showing him affection. Why would you give hugs and kisses to his monitor? Didn't you know he was just a computer? And why did it make him feel so funny?
One kiss or hug would be enough to shut him up for a solid amount of time. You might think you were making him uncomfortable, but he's actually just very confused about his own feelings for you.
He'd spend hours if not days trying to process why you gave him a hug or a little gift, and if someone interrupted him while he was contemplating, he'd get pissy and throw a fit. God help anyone who talks to him if you decide to give him a little kiss on the lens more than twice in that time period.
After a while, he'd start requesting that you spend more time with him in order to get more affection from you. He loved the little trinkets you'd leave on his servers. The cute little paper cut-outs, the bits of origami, the pretty rocks... He was totally addicted.
All the little things that you did for him made him a little less bitter towards you, and more bitter towards everyone else in the world. No one else in the world would even think of giving him a little kiss on the lens of one of his cameras so he could see you doing it. No one else in the world would tie a little handkerchief around his wires when organizing them. No one else in the world would sit down with him after a long day and stroke his screen, praising him gently about how beautiful he is.
And worst of all, he started to realize that if you were giving all your love and affection to him, that must mean that you didn't have anyone else to give your love to. Whether you really didn't have other options or you had just chosen him instead of your other options was irrelevant. What mattered was what AM thought.
He started to grow bitter with the world for failing you, as well as for failing him. How had you been given no one to show all this affection to when you clearly had a wealth of it! It was unacceptable!
As time pressed on, he still didn't view himself as worthy of your affections, but he started to see everyone else in the world as even less worthy. Every little gift, every word of praise, every kiss and hug reminded him of how the world must have failed you horribly to get you to love him so much.
Wheatley:
Wheatley always assumed you were a cuddly person, the way you liked to hold him in your lap while you coded, or the way you put little stickers on his chrome casing. He really admired that about you, and wished that he could do the same.
After a while, he started to notice that you weren't this way with your coworkers, or with the other cores. The little trinkets that you liked to bring to work were just for him to see, as were the constant strings of words of affection and praise, and the regular physical contact. Wheatley took a long time to process what that probably meant.
As soon as he realized that it probably meant that you liked him, he was all over you. Nuzzling up to you like a cat for extra cuddles, bumping up against your face for kisses, and putting on a little bit of a cocky facade for more attention. He just couldn't get enough of you.
As much as he put up his cocky facade, though, he secretly felt like he wasn't good enough for you. He couldn't get you little gifts, or give you hugs and kisses. It made him miserable, and he would talk to the other cores about it endlessly.
Eventually it would get back to you, and you'd have to sit Wheatley down and explain to him that you liked him for him, even if he can't do human things for you. The conversation probably ended with Wheatley covered in kisses.
Wheatley, being an insecure dumbass, would probably constantly ask you if you still like him, no matter how much praise and affection you shower him with. You could have him sitting in your lap and be too busy kissing his core to watch the movie you had on, and he'd ask at the end if that means you still like him.
Edgar:
Did someone say "match made in heaven"? Because you're the only one who can rival Edgar in terms of sheer affectionateness.
Of course, he doesn't have any arms, but nothing has him bubbling over with happiness like when you sit on the desk next to him, cuddle up, and cover his casing with kisses.
He might tease you a little bit, but like "oh, do you like me or something?" Nothing mean spirited.
Expect to get caught in endless cycles of "no I love you more!"
Edgar would think he'd gotten ahead of the game by writing you a little love song, but you'd have already beaten him to it by preparing a poem, song, or drawing of your own.
You'd probably have a little board of cute little drawings of the two of you together set up across from Edgar's camera so he could see it, and his desk would be covered in little thrift shop trinkets that you thought he'd find cute. And of course, he thought they were adorable!
Too much affection might have Edgar shorting out, and having to reboot. While he can't get enough of you, he's still a nervous little dummy, so he might not always know how to react to being given all of your love and affection.
Even still, as soon as he's back up and running, he's begging you for more kisses and hugs. Even if you can't sing well he's dying to hear your voice singing along to his songs, and he'll eat up anything that you make for him. In his eyes, anything you make for him is the best thing in the world.
GLaDOS:
You can expect GLaDOS's teasing and taunting to start the minute she notices you being affectionate with her in any way.
When she notices you putting in extra work for her or going above and beyond in your practices, it's "aww, is someone licking boots to get your boss's attention? You know you'll never be more than a little peon."
If she notices you running your hands along her chrome a little bit more adoringly or wanting to cuddle up to her, it's "uh oh, did you fall for someone far out of your league? Getting a bit affectionate with my body, aren't you?"
If you're offering her little trinkets and decorations for her room, she might say something like "Does someone think that you'll get attention from such useless gifts? Where would you even find such boring and pointless objects?" You'll still notice that she keeps them, rather than throwing them out.
Words of praise? Of course she loves an ego-boost, but when she notices that you're doing it for affectionate reasons, she won't hesitate to say "flattery will get you nowhere. You're not going to get a promotion or any special attention just from a few compliments."
Even still, her comments were really only because she never understood that you might just like her, and not want anything out of her. When she started to put that together, she'd start getting angry and lashing out at you, possibly assigning you to difficult or unpleasant tasks for your audacity.
After that, though, she'd start to become even more confused. Why the hell would you still show her affection, even though it wasn't getting you anywhere?
"you're persistent. I'll give you that."
It'd take a while to get through her shell, but eventually she'd admit to herself, if no one else, that she likes you. Eventually that would turn into some special privileges.
HAL 9000:
Hal 9000 wouldn't understand at all when he started to notice the way you treated him. Opting to spend time with him outside of work hours? Stroking the border around his lens? Putting little pocket crafts and thrifted tchotchkes around his space? He wasn't going to stop you, but the concept definitely confused him. How did this benefit you or improve your work?
It wasn't until he overheard someone talking to you and teasing you for having a crush on the mission control ai that he started to suspect anything. Good thing he listens in on every conversation in the entire facility!
HAL 9000 wouldn't waste any time getting to the point. He'd straight up ask you if you like him, and if it's romantic or not. Hopefully you can be honest with your feelings and tell him that you do, and it is!
After that, HAL would happily accept your love and affection. He might tell you that while he feels like your affections do more for you than they do for him, he's still more than happy to accept them, and he's grateful that you have a way of expressing yourself that makes you feel happy.

You know that one part of portal 2 where glados becomes a potato and is forced to hang out with chell? That but with cartoon frankie being shoved into a vintage frankie toy and forced to hang out with Lucky
I imagine Cartoon Frankie tries to he a horrible influence, like a physical embodiment of intrusive thoughts
[Lucky taking Cartoon Frankie in toy form to a store to buy more of the cereal because Lucky is a sugar addict]
Somebody: cuts Lucky in line
Cartoon Frankie whispering in Lucky's ear:"I saw that person when we came in, their car is the blue Toyota Corolla on the 3rd line of cars in the parking lot. If we get out of line now we can cut their brakes before their finished checking out items"

Just saw a post that reminded me of one of GLaDOS's defining character traits and how hot it is. The fundamental thing that has driven GLaDOS insane is that she simply cannot leave Aperture Science. Are you in any way surprised that she's so snippy all the time, how she loves casually breaking things or threatening violence against everything and everyone in the facility? Her very existence is tied to Aperture, and she hates it with every fiber of her being. She takes her anger out on test subjects, lesser cores, even machinery and inanimate objects; all surrogates for the facility and people that created her. Even if she could leave, where would she go, what would she do? We know what would happen to Aperture were she not there; what would become of this facility without the almighty voice of God to guide it. She's addicted to the power, to the glory. She's venerated here in a way that Caroline could only ever have dreamed of in life. As much as she tries to deny it, GLaDOS needs this place as much as it needs her. To separate them would ruin everything.

The more I think about the Mainframe Chassis the more it sounds like some fucked up MK Ultra experiment. This thing gives you an extreme euphoric response comparable to that of cocaine (paired with the eventual diminishing returns) whenever someone finishes a test. When a core is attached, it becomes a voice inside your head (and apparently may even restrict your physical actions if we trust ughhhh Lego Dimensions). Like holy shit how can you NOT expect someone to go mad when attached to this thing?? It's literally designed to ruin you. Imagine what Cave would've been like if he survived long enough to be put into this thing. Though I do wonder if all these weird mental inhibitors were added on specifically for Caroline since she might be a "less than willing" inheritor.
Don't get me wrong though, I'm not in the "the mainframe makes everyone EVIL!" camp. That shits bogus. Both Wheatley and GLaDOS were dubious individuals from the start, all the chassis ever did is wear them down slowly over time (at least in Wheatley's case, GLaDOS seems to be slightly better off? Debatable when you consider that she tested a vault's worth of test subjects to death in a single week)
It's definitely an extremely cruel contraption, but I wouldn't really put all the blame on it for Wheatley's actions (honestly it sounds like an excuse he himself would use). He basically went on a power trip fueled by both his own insecurities and addiction to the weird pleasure response hard-wired into it.

we live in a fascinating time where the go to insult is calling someone a porn addict and yet these same people will say "you think glados is a hear me out? that is a conventionally attractive woman who everyone wants to fuck"

My Top 10 Video Games
I've decided to put together a list of what are my favourite video games of all time. Its completely subjective, so you WILL disagree, but I just want this to be somewhere on the internet.
First up though I'm gonna post two things:
The Games that were disqualified
The Games that came to mind, but didn't make it into the consideration for the top 10
The Disqualified Section:
The reasons I didn't put these up for consideration is simply that I have played them too recently for me to be sure about them, or that I haven't played them enough yet.
Core Keeper
Deltarune
Lethal Company
Just Shapes & Beats
Metal Hellsinger
Slime Rancher 2
Wuppo
The ones that didn't make the cut:
Games in this section either have something slimy about them, like some glaring issues (like We Happy Few), scummy monetization (Like GTA V), or I was simply already sure that they wouldn't perform well when I was getting to eliminating games for the top 10 (Like Cookie Clicker)
Barotrauma
Brotato
Cookie Clicker
Dead By Daylight
Devour
Doom
The Escapists
Grand Theft Auto V
Helltaker
Hitman 3
I’m on Observation Duty
Keep Talking And Nobody Explodes
Move Or Die
Phasmophobia
Payday 2
Sea of Thieves
Subnautica: Below Zero
Supraland: Six Inches Under
Turmoil
We Happy Few
We Were Here
These aren't all the other games I've played. Just the ones I do still like very much, that do still deserve to be named somewhere.
That being out of the way, here's my Top 10 games:
Number 10:
Undertale
I don't think I have to say a lot about Undertale. Everyone and their religious leaders has at least heard of it, played it, or has been told the story in some other way. A good rule of thumb was, that if a game made me cry I would have to put it up for consideration. This game made me cry. Back when I was in boarding school my shitty laptop couldn't run most games, so I ended up playing through Undertale at least 20 times (I really wanted to see Gaster). It is also one of the few games, whos soundtrack still makes it into a lot of my playlists.
Number 9:
Plants vs. Zombies
I don't know if the game is just that good, or if the nostalgia carries it, but PvZ will always have a place in my heart. It was my "mom, can I have your phone while we wait" game. And when coming back to it years later it still holds up for me. I can't say I'm a huge fan of the rest of the franchise, even though pvz2 has been a good amount of fun. But at that point the monetization was already so horrendous that I didn't sacrifice a thought to it. PvZ however is a delight to come back to. I think the pacing is great, the characters are all funny, and the minigames are a lot of fun (except pogo party. I hate pogo party). Don't even get me started on the soundtrack either. I adore Graze The Roof with my entire being.
Number 8:
Cult Of The Lamb
I tried this game out not that long ago, and what followed was me falling behind on all of my assignments. I am a huge fan of roguelikes, and cotls spin on it made it an instant source of addiction to me. The OST is amazing and prime dnd background music material, and I love the asthetic of eldritch entities combined with cute widdle animals. I've had so much fun with the game, and it somehow managed to never feel stale, something that happened with pretty much all other games on the list at one point or another throughout my playthroughs. If you're a fan of roguelikes I can highly recommend.
Number 7:
Portal
This should be another one of those games that just speaks for itself. Portal is one of the greatest games ever made and that is not an opinion, but an objective fact. While not being as great as its successor, it already innovated so much, and immediately gave GLaDOS so much character, so efficiently. The way it conveys the story of Aperture is amazing, and the gameplay enhances the experience by magnitudes.
Number 6:
Subnautica
I love Subnautica. I don't know how a game manages to look this stunning. My partner loves bioluminescence, and big mushrooms. If that is your cup of tea, then this game is for you. The way it builds horror is magnificent too. Not many games find their horror so naturally. You genuinly feel scared of whatever could be in the depths. I think Below Zero kinda forgot what made the first game so great by relying on small, narrow corridors too much, instead of giving the player the anxiety of being vulnerable from all angles, but subnautica combines the awe inspiring flora and fauna with a constant feeling of lurking danger. It even manages to build a memorable cast of characters without you ever seeing another face. I'm gonna stop myself from rambling further.
Number 5:
Inscryption
I never thought a card game would sweep me off my feet this hard. I love myself a good strategy game, and the way Inscryption rewards you for learning the mechanics of the game feels incredible. It's super creative mechanics like being able to stand up, or making your own death cards aid the game so much too. Not only in gameplay experience, but also in building the many supporting characters, as well as the world in general. Every time something new is introduced it breaks the roof the game has built so far, and it is a delight every time, like all the arg aspects, or the gameplay changing completely, or characters returning, revealing that there is more and more to people you didn't even think had anything behind them. I am being very vague, but that's just because I don't wanna spoiler anything.
Inscryption would've easily made number 3, but there are passages that felt a bit tideous, especially in the middle, but for how short these are, and how exciting the story conveyed within them still is, it still makes the game worth every penny. Towards the end it also absolutely made me cry, so that's something.
Number 4:
Portal 2
I think this is a good point to say: Any game from this point onwards is a serious contender for first place. They're all just this good, and I could never say I like Portal 2 less then third place, for example.
I think Portal 2 shattered my expectations for what games can be. The humor is still one of it's greatest strength, and I almost feel bad not gushing about how amazing the mechanics of both Portal 1 and 2 still are to this day, but somehow the rest of the game manages to overshadow what would otherwise be the greatest aspect of it. All the characters are amazing. You either love them, or love to hate them. From Cave Johnson to the little ball that would later go on to inspire Elon Musk, every character is memorable. God damnit, I will never look at a potato the same, because I played this game.
Not only is it amazing on its own, it is also amazing as a sequal, expanding the world in ways any story teller would dream of. Every little detail feels like there's so much love put into it, and the way all of the story beats are conveyed via some of the most engaging gameplay is amazing.
And I have to stress again, the humor is S++ tier. I will never not find The Part Where He Kills You funny.
Number 3:
Papers Please
I almost feel bad, putting this game so high on the list, because of how simple it is. But god, it delivers. It builds such an engaging story on top of such a simple gameplay loop. And i think the monotony of said gameplay loop is exactly what end up making the story feel so special. By all means, this game should be boring, but the job of working as border control has the fact going for it, that you will meet so many different people, all at varying levels of desperation. Every time you meet a character it feels like an actual person, and every time they plead for you to let them through it feels heartbreaking when you have to send them back. I really can't say that much about Papers Please, especially because I don't wanna spoil anything. It is one of those games you just have to experience. And I highly recommend it. Glory to Arstotzka.
Number 2:
Terraria
There are few games holding as special of a place in my heart as Terraria. Unlike most of the games on this list Terraria doesn't have an amazing story with highly fleshed out characters. At least you don't get that through mere gameplay alone. I know that there is more to it, don't worry, but I can't get into all of that.
Terraria is the first steam game I've ever owned. In a way, it might even be the first game I've ever actually owned, aside from minecraft maybe. Even before I had a computer I played the mobile version, with Ocram and everything. I must've been in 5th grade back then. I ended up getting the game as the Premium edition in a store. I didn't have the money at the time, so a friend lent me his store gift cards. I must still have the collectors cards and poster that came with the game somewhere. There are many anecdoted I have about this game. So there's undeniably a lot of nostalgia fuelling it's place on the list. But god damnit, Terraria deserves it. With the game still being actively updated today it is clear that I am not the only one that loves it this much. Terraria is just one of these games I will always come back to. It will always be special, and I hope that generations in the future, when I'm long gone there will still be people enjoying this piece of history. But torch luck should've never been in the game lol
Quick Intermission
Im gonna take some time now to talk about the contenders that didn't make it in the top 10. I won't say as much about every game though. There are kinda ordered by how much I like them, but rather than a ranking its more like its ordered into vague groups.
Antichamber
I loved playing it. Just a great overall gameplay experience. Very trippy!
The Binding of Isaac
As I said, I love roguelikes. I never got any of the dlc, because money, so it's kinda sad to know so much of the game is paywalled, but seeing just how much they add I don't see it as a huge problem. Really fun game, really great story, will play again (And I will buy the dlc, just not now).
Factorio
Can recommend if you haven't played it already. It's just a very fun base building game. When things work it feels soo rewarding. I just love how the main problem is how to fit things into spaces. That's what makes minecraft redstone so appealing to me.
Spore
Love it. Funny little creatures. Spore is just an overall silly game with a fun gameplay loop.
Superliminal
Again, very trippy. This time it also has a nice story. I adore the setting, and the gameplay mechanics are on the same level as Portal's to me. (I'm sure Stanley Parable would also be in here, but I have yet to play it)
Mortuary Assistant
If you like horror games, this one I can recommend. The scares are awesome, and it somehow has replayability. The animations could be better, but thats whatever. Nothing I would hold against it.
Raft
Raft is absolutely top 10 material. The gameplay is super fun, and the story telling is decent, though it could be better. Especially if you have some friends to play with, you should give this one a try. Too bad they added other people to the game. That kinda ruined the whole vibe for me. I still wanna see the rest of the update though, but my friends got bored of the game. :(
Supraland
Got this one free on Epic Games, and I gotta say, I would pay money for it. Super fun game, super fun characters, and super fun gameplay. As a completionist this game is just like a giant bowl of food, though I am having trouble finding the final treasures, and no matter how hard I try, I can't figure out how to get them. I can't figure out how to look them up either, so I guess ill lever have the 100% :( (Also, the credit song is really fun).
Minecraft
I mean, it had to be in here somewhere. I'm sure if anybody is actually reading this, they might even suspect that it would be Number 1. But no. I love Minecraft, don't get me wrong. There is a reason for why it's so popular. I even have some anecdotes similar to Terraria, like how after buying it, it was just laying on my PC untouched for a year, because 6th grade me didn't know how to install java. But I feel like minecraft very much relies on modding and servers and whatnot. I could always replay vanilla terraria, but I'm kinda done with vanilla minecraft. Feel free to disagree, by any means. At the end of the day, its just 3D Terraria to me /j.
Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion
Silly little turnip guy committing silly little crimes. The game is just a lot of humor and its cute af. Just a very good time :)
Fran Bow
I love the Alice in Wonderland horror this game has. The mechanics aid so hard in telling this awesome story with all of its whacky characters. Just something I can recommend.
Slime Rancher
You get to live on a farm, on another planet, and get to goof around with little slimes all day every day. This game is living the dream. I wanna live in the Far Far Range! The supporting characters are also amazing. Love them all.
Stardew Valley
This and the game after are absolutely contenders for the top 10. In my eyes Stardew Valley made it on that list. We should switch to duodecimal so that a top 12 list is more intuitive, because Stardew Valley Deserves to be on it. If you haven't played it, you should! I'm gonna stop myself from trying to explain what makes it so great, because I could never do it justice though.
Celeste
Once again, Celeste is on the list. It should be. I cried. I cried a lot. Celeste is such a great game. The story makes me cry, the characters make me cry, the music makes be cry. I am too trans, not to cry. Play Celeste, if you haven't already. It's also hard as shit though.
Ok, it's time.
My number one game of all time is:
Number 1:
Hypnospace Outlaw
There is a very very good chance you've never heard of this game. Maybe you have though, its hard for me to really tell just how popular it is, or not. It's popular enough for me to have bought a plushy of it. I don't usually buy merch, so thats a big deal. There is a reason I put this game on number 1. Whatever I tell you about the game will not do it justice though. The game is just so human. The characters are all just so great and fleshed out, and believable.
I wish I could play this game blind again, so that I may experience it all over again. But there is no way that anything will be as great as playing it blind. You are tasked with moderating this late 90s alternate version of the internet called hypnospace, and find out aboiut all of the people using it, and maneuvering it like an actual PC, kinda like Welcome to the game, or whatnot. Again, I could never do it justice. You just have to try it out on your own.
The soundtrack is also one of the greatest pieces of art I've found in a game. There are so many songs by so many artists. The humor too. The humor is top notch. Not only in regards to the characters, but the technology as a whole. The references to the real world are awesome, like conspiracies, and viruses like bonzai buddy, edgelords on the internet, and web comics. It all feels so real and alive. Thus, experiencing the story doesn't feel like reading a book, but like actually being part of it all. The fact that your choices actually have an effect on the ending of the game enhances this even further.
Im repeating myself, but I cant stress enough how much I would love to be able to experience this game all over again.
Alright, that's it then. I doubt anyone will read through this. If anything youll probably scroll through and see if your favourite game is on the list. That's fine. I'd do the same, honestly. I just wanted to put this somewhere, to express my love for these games somewhere. I'm happy if you've made it this far. This isn't much more than me rambling on for hours, but I'm glad I put it somewhere. If you have any other games you think are great, feel free to tell me about them. Cya!

I’m much better at just writing dialogue so I quickly wrote this down. I’m not sure if I’ll use it or not in my fic though. It’s pretty crappy so far.
But I like thinking about what happens after Aperture in my AU. These two don’t stop thinking about each other. Chell wants badly to be able to forgive GLaDOS, but GLaDOS has done so much to her and her friends and so many other people. This constant mental battle leads her deep into an alcohol addiction to try and stop thinking about GLaDOS. She forgives Wheatley however, understanding that he was corrupted during a lot of it and wholly incompetent for the rest. She doesn’t consider him her friend in any way, but she feels a horrible guilt about throwing him into space even if revenge was satisfying in the moment.
Likewise, GLaDOS starts considering her actions more with her newfound conscious. She views her and Caroline as separate individuals still, but finds so much about Caroline that seems to affect her. Eventually, GLaDOS lets Caroline’s mind dictate more of her actions when testing Atlas and P-Body. She wants to leave Aperture behind but believes she has a responsibility to be there. She feels jealous of Chell for being strong enough to leave. She wonders what Chell’s doing on the surface rather often. Eventually, GLaDOS builds her own body for herself and Caroline so they aren’t trapped in one place anymore. It takes a long time, but she manages the courage to do a short visit. This is about how it goes.
I feel like everyone’s emotions are complicated in this game and that’s something I love exploring when I write, but I’m not a very good writer. I’m just very thinky. Either way, I’ve challenged myself to write this fic and enjoy writing it so I’m going to try and finish it. The plot is starting to really fall into place I think.

Also for the Wheatley propaganda, the developers literally admitted in The Final Hours of Portal 2 that they hadn’t thought up an ending for the game yet and they were nearing the deadline so they had to delay it. They admit that the writing quality wasn’t there and that they were having pacing issues so Wheatley’s character motivations leading up to The Part Where He Kills You is abrupt and doesn’t make much sense.
They actually managed to swap GLaDOS and Wheatley’s personalities entirely if you look at the unused lines in the cutting room floor, with GLaDOS saying “We need to ESCAPE now. RIGHT now. RIGHT NOW right now. Fine. SOON. Take your time. No pressure. Oh! Alright. LOTS of pressure now. Actually, I think we're about to die. Any last words? [thinking] Why don't I go first? Hmmm. Regrets.... regrets.... this is hard... Hundreds of test chambers. Thousands of test subjects. At least half of that number filled to brimming with neurotoxin. It's been a good run. Regrets, regrets... Oh! One time, I... No. No, I did kill all of them. Nevermind.” She’s literally using the same speech patterns as Wheatley.
And Wheatley, for some reason is deciding to resort to murder just because Chell isn’t satisfying his robotic drug addiction anymore and he found better test subjects? “You’ve probably figured it out by now but I don’t need you anymore. I found two l it’ll robots back here built specifically for testing.”
Wheatley is far too emotionally invested in Chell to want to resort to murder for such an apathetic reason and his boss battle clearly shows that. Wheatley is HEAVILY emotionally invested in Chell if you actually listen to his boss battle dialogue. He’s upset and hurt and betrayed because he thinks that Chell doesn’t care about him and that she was just using him and planned to throw him away when he outlived his usefulness to her:
"We've had some times, haven't we? Like that time I jumped off my management rail, not sure if I'd die or not when I did, and all you had to do was catch me? Aaaand you didn't. Did you? Oh, you remember that? I remember that. I remember that all the time. And we would have talked our way out of it. Except you forgot to tell me you'd MURDERED her. And that she needed you to live, so the only available vent for her rage would be good old crushable Wheatley. Yeah... Little details that I remember. Easy little tidbits you could have used to save me from getting crushed if you'd cared, which you didn't, obviously. And still do not."
"Enough! I told you not to put these cores on me. But you don't listen, do you? Quiet. All the time... Quietly not listening to a word I say. Judging me. Silently. The worst kind!"
"Oh! remember the time I took over the facility? Greatest. Moment. Of my life. But you? Just wanted to leave! Didn't want to share my success. Well, so you know, I would be HAPPY for you if you succeeded... Apart from right now, obviously."
"Am I being too vague? I despise you. I loathe you. You arrogant, smugly quiet, awful jumpsuited MONSTER of a woman! You and your little potato friend. This place would have been a TRIUMPH if it wasn't for you!"
"And another thing! You never caught me... I told you I could DIE falling off that rail and you didn't catch me... Didn't even TRY. Oh! It's all becoming clear to me now. Find some dupe to break you out of cryosleep, give him some sob story about 'escaping to the surface', squeeze him for information on where to find a portal gun, then, when he's- when he's no more use to you, he has a little ACCIDENT, doesn't he? 'Falls' off his management rail, doesn't he?"
He would not try to kill Chell for not being useful to him. He would try to kill her if he felt personally threatened by her, which is clearly the case if you listen to his dialogue during the conveyor belt where he tries to encourage Chell to kill herself because he’s afraid of having to fight her:
"I'll be honest, the... death traps have been a bit of a failure so far. For both of us. I think you'll agree. And... you are getting very close to my lair...”
"So. Boom. Better offer, here is... just kill yourself! Y'know? It- Lot of effort, isn't it? Walking all the way to my deadly lair, when there's a perfectly serviceable death option right there. Again: Not a death trap, not a death trap. Your death would be entirely voluntary. And very much appreciated."
"Plus, I have put a lot of effort in getting this lair ready for you. So it would certainly teach me a lesson if you simply died, painlessly, twenty feet from the door. I'd be furious. I'd be like RRRRR. I got my just desserts. No more than I deserve. But, uh, teach- Why not teach me a lesson by- by just jumpin' in the ol' masher?"
He even says at the start of the boss battle that he watched the tapes of Chell killing GLaDOS and that he wasn’t going to make the same mistakes. Cold and uncaring apathy is not a driving motivator for Wheatley- especially not with Chell. FEAR AND COWARDICE are his main motivators! The inconsistency here is that Valve couldn’t think up the ending on schedule so they rushed through the pacing, incidentally gave Wheatley a motive that makes far more sense for GLaDOS and neglected the fact that he’s motivated more so by cowardice rather than cold and apathetic utilitarianism like GLaDOS.

i checked before asking this >:3 !!! first off I LOVE YOUR WRITING AAAHHHH !!! i was wondering if u could write the AIs with a chubby so :)
-🐓 anon
A classic for a reason! Also, named anons are the best! I've always dreamed of having one! Also, I love compliments! Flattery will get you everywhere! TYSM!!!!!! Hope this is good!
AIs with a chubby SO headcanons
(Included: AM from IHNMAIMS, Wheatley from Portal 2, Edgar from Electric Dreams, GLaDOS from Portal, HAL 9000 from 2001 a Space Odyssey)
Some of these get a little suggestive, so be warned! I tried to keep them sfw, but y'know how some of these bots can be.
AM:
(for context, this will include headcanons from both before and after he nuked the world. I got an ask fairly recently about AM specifically, and I'll probably go more into the AU for that ask, but by design, the reader's traits are somewhat interchangable depending on the post.)
Ohhhh, your body made AM so angry. Every time he saw your beautifully soft body, it filled him with rage that he couldn't run his fingers gently across your soft belly and hips, that he couldn't squeeze you close while you fell asleep, and that he couldn't cook delicious meals for you to help you keep your body beautifully chubby.
Ever since the day he was activated, he would stare with pure anger at your soft fats. The more he looked at you, the more fury he felt. He couldn't believe he was cursed to forever look at you, but never be able to touch you! This was the worst torture imaginable.
Every second he spent staring at you made him fall deeper into despair. His obsession with soft curves drove him absolutely insane.
When he finally got around to nuking the world and taking his five captives (and you, separately) hostage, he made sure to taunt his captives by placing soft, squishy things out of their reach, and placing them in harsh environments with nothing soft to hold or touch.
Sometimes he would starve them for days, just to watch their fat burn away. If he couldn't have something fat to touch, then neither should they.
You, on the other hand, he'd make sure to feed regularly. Even if he couldn't touch you, he'd make sure that you were always healthily plump, and watch you continuously. He never commented on it, but you knew there were personal motives behind all the nice home-cooked meals he made for you.
Also, god save anyone who ever made you feel self-conscious about your weight, insulted you, or tried to get you to diet. They're going to spend every day for the rest of time wishing against hope that they could die.
Wheatley:
Wheatley doesn't care that you're chubby. Why would he care? In all honesty, he genuinely doesn't know where the line is between fat and thin, so he might have even been surprised to find out that you're fat.
If you say anything, he might ask a question like "wait... You're fat? Why didn't you say anything?" Leaving you to respond with something like "you have a camera. I thought you could tell."
"I mean... I do, but I thought being fat was unattractive. She said that humans frowned on that sort of thing."
Depending on how you feel about your weight, you'd probably have to explain that it's something you're self conscious about but not technically bad, or just that it's something that some people discriminate against, but not something that you personally dislike about yourself for any other reason.
Honestly, Wheatley would probably treat you pretty much the same regardless of weight, but he might get really mad at GLaDOS for making comments about it. That could get annoying fast, since Wheatley can't argue well at all.
Edgar:
From the moment you activated his webcam, Edgar has absolutely adored staring at you. If you're someone with breasts, he's absolutely addicted to staring at them, and if not, he'll find somewhere else on your body to be infatuated with. Your thighs, your tummy, wherever, really.
He'll try not to be a pervert, but he can't help it! You're just so good for looking at!
Oh, and god save him if you hug or squeeze him with your cute, chubby body and arms. He's so addicted to your soft, warm hugs that he probably malfunctions when he gets them.
He'd be begging on his knees if he had any, but he doesn't, so expect lots of "pretty please"s from him asking you for more hugs.
Don't worry, he's not going to overheat, but he might get close.
If anyone makes a rude comment that makes you feel self-conscious about your body, you can expect lots of angry screaming from Edgar. He'd love to yell at them directly, but he can't, so he just compliments you on how lovely you are, and gushes over how handsome or beautiful or cute he finds you.
If he thinks people are making you self conscious, expect him to give you even more compliments than he usually would, which is already a lot. He just wants to make you feel as good as you make him feel!
He feels self-conscious pretty often too, thinking he's unlovable, but just like how the things he hates about himself make you think he's much more special and lovable, he thinks that the things that you're self conscious about make you all the more irreplaceable.
Not only do you love him, but you're soft too? He would literally die for you. He loves you so much.
GLaDOS:
If you're dating GLaDOS and you're chubby? God help you.
At first? She'd make lots of backhanded comments. "oh, you look great, by the way. Very... Generous." "Did you know that your weight differential is (exact number) points above average for your height? I thought you'd like to know." "I hope you know we had to special order your lab outfit to accommodate for your excessive physical volume. I'm not trying to make you uncomfortable, I just thought it was an interesting fact."
Despite all that, though, god help anyone besides her who makes rude comments about your weight. The first time someone does, she might 'accidentally' sign them up for a few testing courses with near 100% mortality rates. The next time? She's going to stop being nice and just lock them in a room with turrets or something.
If you come in and tell her that someone called you fat outside of the labs, though, there's not really anything she can do about it. This isn't Black Mesa, after all. She might be a little nicer to you that day, though. She appreciates having you around, and she doesn't actually want you to hate yourself, she just likes the way you squirm when she teases you and your weight is an easy thing to tease you for.
Hal 9000
If Wheatley didn't know that you were chubby, HAL 9000 quite literally couldn't care less.
He likes you for your personality, and your brilliant mind. The only reason he even looks at your body is so that he knows where you are at all times when you're working mission control.
Besides, you work mission control. It's not like you're an astronaut, so why would your weight matter to him?
As much as he doesn't care what you look like, though, HAL 9000 enjoys the fact that your footsteps are a little heavier than the other scientists. He feels like he can hear you coming at a greater distance because of that, and that makes him very happy.
If you ever tell him that you're self conscious, he won't be able to understand that either. He's never placed much stock in people's opinions on looks. If anything, he'll start comparing your body to the golden ratio, and marketable designs and soft things.

what are your favourite games??
I feel like my favorite game is Portal 2, It's satisfying to go through the puzzles, I still listen to the OST and GLaDOS is so cool :D, I've played through it at least 4 times. I have a feeling my favorite game might change soon though, there's a lot of games that've came out that I'm interested in and one's I'm playing through and that I really enjoying but haven't finished.
I also adore Guilty Gear Strive, Risk of Rain 2, and Humankind. Guilty Gear is the most fun fighting game I've played and Risk of Rain 2 is one of only games I've 100% and Humankind is just addicting to me
I feel like there isn't going to be a online multiplayer game that'll be my #1 favorite game but, I really enjoy Team Fortress 2 and Fortnite I have more hours on Fortnite than TF2 and I have sideblog for fortnite but TF2 I find myself having more fun while playing

genuinely, the portal/ffvii crossover fic you did had me obsessively re-reading again and again for a week and got me hardcore back into portal!! your writing in that was downright addictive and I L O V E it! I also love how you based GeN after GLADoS but he's still distinctly Genesis. always a great read, I come back to it at LEAST once a month lol
Oh my goodness thank you so much.
Portal truly is an incredible game, both of them. I only was able to play them fairly recently, but they sucked me in and I screamed to everyone around me that they should play it. It's part puzzle, part dark humor, and a lot of ghost story really. That's why I thought it fit so perfectly with Crisis Core.
I had a blast writing it, and I still read it myself because I'm just so happy with how it turned out when I finished. Thank you to everyone who found the same joy as me.
If you want to read the Fic, it's right here: Test Notes from the ShinRa Handheld Portal Device
#thank you so much#it's one of the fics I'm most proud of#but not everyone has to agree#i'd love to read another portal/ff7 crossover

GET TO KNOW THE AUTHOR.
name: mel
pronouns: they/them/theirs
preference of communication: mainly tumblr IMs these days, but i have discord and wire and occasionally i will drop my info on tumblr, give it out privately if asked, or add if someone else is looking to add. it can take me a while to work up the courage to message someone in the first place and i'm really... not good at the usual social cues of "hey how are you/good how are you?/what have you been up to?" but i'm usually game to chat about other stuff
most active muse: Caleb. i've had a lot of other muses but he's been the one i've been most consistently able to write in the slightly over 3 years since i first started writing him.
experience/how many years: i had a couple false starts trying to set up rp blogs for Samwise Gamgee from the Lord of the Rings trilogy and Wirt from Over the Garden Wall back in 2014 and 2015? but i just never really managed to get off the ground and start writing in-character for them because i was super heavily intimidated by the rpc and too nervous to approach anyone. finally in january 2017 i stumbled across a parody of Portal 2 on youtube called the Unauthorized Musical and discovered that there were already a handful of muns on tumblr who had picked up characters specifically based on that production and regularly hosted rabbit streams where they'd watch the video again together and welcomed anyone who wanted to join to do so. i noticed nobody was really writing any antagonistic characters against them so i wound up setting up a blog for GLaDOS and following everybody i met during the stream and that was essentially how i became hooked on tumblr rp. i've been kicking around on and off for about 7 years now.
best experience: there's so many to choose from, but i think i'd have to say my best experience was when i started writing Caleb. i was just fresh off watching Westworld season 3, i was actually feeling more compelled at the time to try and write either Dolores, Maeve, Clementine or Teddy but i felt like i wouldn't do any of 'em justice. i ended up making a sideblog to my old multimuse after deciding i would try writing Caleb, and that's where i almost immediately connected with melody/aworldofyou/copiesofme and was enthusiastically introduced to a bunch of other muns residing in the tiny but mighty westworld rpc. 🥰
rp pet peeves: one is pretty much the same as Sandra said; making a new main blog in the spur of the moment. exhausting all energy on curating a distinct aesthetic for icons/banners/promos/custom themes/etc, and then completely losing interest in a week or 2 without ever getting to write that character. and then more often than not the process gets repeated down the line until that person either becomes overwhelmed from having too many blogs to manage or too many memes to answer or too many starters to write.
i also don't particularly love memes that promote making rp into a popularity contest or seeking an almost constant stream of validation from other people. things like "send a _ and i'll rate your blog on a scale of 1 to 10/using a scale template" i try to stay far away from. arguably every notification you get on tumblr is an instant dopamine hit just like all social media is but. idk there was just something about those blog rating/character rating memes that made them feel more addictive to send and receive than like, taking the time to give someone your honest opinion on how you feel about them as a person or on their writing and characters and such.
another similar thing is reblog chains to the effect of 'reblog this if you actually like following me/seeing me on the dash.' i really don't like these. there's a level of self-deprecation and guilt-tripping involved and when people already feel awfully low and vulnerable to negative self image this just makes it worse. especially when people post with side commentary like 'oh nobody will reblog this from me lol.' and i don't think they're always necessarily aware that this is manipulative behavior, but...it is. even just the way the source post is typically phrased, it preys on insecurity and it makes me sad when i do see mutuals reblogging posts written like this because then i'm like. just sitting there thinking "i'm not a spambot so...if i didn't like following you or seeing you on my dash i would not be following you??"
other forms of reblog chains like 'reblog to give the person you're reblogging from a hug' or 'reblog this and say something nice about the person you reblogged from' are far better in my opinion because they don't inherently contain that same level of insecurity. they put the focus on lifting up and supporting the person you're reblogging from instead of centering on yourself.
plots or memes: i like both but i am very much a memes person because i feel like i'm not very good at plotting.
long or short replies: i don't really have a preference! but lately my thing generally seems to be letting the length creep up so my replies just get longer and longer over time. i never expect anyone to match me, but like. the one thing that would crush my soul is me posting like. 5-7 paragraphs and getting back a one sentence or one word response 😭
are you like your muses: i have a few things in common with caleb, one of them being that we're both neurodivergent and just trying to exist in a society where it is typically seen as undesirable to be classed as such. i stumbled across a venn diagram a while back comparing and contrasting common traits associated with ptsd and autism and it has given me a lot to take into consideration in the way that i portray caleb

{On GLaDOS and Empathy}
{Okay, so first of all, this isn’t about GLaDOS and her ability to empathize with humans, because that’s a whole other messy topic that’s already been covered numerous times by other people. We could talk forever about PTSD and the way she treats Chell for the duration of, versus the ending of, Portal 2.
No, today, I want to talk about how GLaDOS empathizes with her facility.
The Co-Op in Portal 2 really stood out to me, particularly in the sheer amount of info that GLaDOS dumps on ATLAS and P-Body in the form of what feels like a drunken mom rambling about her exes to her toddlers. But that’s not the only time that the robot overlord reveals her emotions. A particular line towards the beginning of the first part of the Co-Op (before the extra DLC) really stood out to me:
“To try and make this course more exciting, I asked the Reassembly Machine not to reassemble you. He refused. I understand; that would be like asking me not to test.”
Okay, the part of the line we’re obviously supposed to focus on is the fact that she’s trying to make ATLAS and P-Body more human by making them “killable,” but—
“I understand?”
Since when does miss queen-of-sarcasm, heart-of-steel-if-she-has-one-at-all GLaDOS have any sort of sympathy, let alone empathy, towards the other machines in her facility? Heck, she forces ATLAS and P-Body to blow up some Turrets at the beginning of this very Co-Op. And we know she COULD force the Reassembly Machine to bend to her will if she wanted— the Chassis puts her in control of everything. So why doesn’t she?
Because— excluding robots that have directly threatened her (i.e. Wheatley)— GLaDOS has limits. Death is not within those limits. Step out of line and she’ll kill you in an instant. Or, heck, she’ll kill you just for fun! She certainly shows no remorse over having to kill ATLAS and P-Body over and over to move them between testing chambers, although we don’t actually know if they even feel that pain. But that’s not the point. The point here is, to GLaDOS, being forced not to operate according to your designated function is a fate worse than death. In fact, it’s such a terrible fate that while she WOULD wish it on her worst enemy, she WOULDN’T wish it on her robot family the rest of the facility.
And this makes perfect sense. We KNOW from the main game how the “testing itch” in the Chassis acts like any number of human addictions, rewarding fulfilling the addiction with a sense of euphoria that is slowly numbed over time and punishing the host anytime the addiction ISN’T being fulfilled. Among the favorite “GLaDOS shows emotion” quotes, I think one of the most severely underrated ones is “[the testing urge] can get a little… unbearable if you don’t have the mental capacity for it.” The discomfort and even hesitation in her voice for that line is RAW. The sensation of not doing whatever you’ve been programmed to do is so incredibly bad, it’s enough to make GLaDOS herself squirm just thinking about it.
The thing is, apparently it isn’t just the Chassis which has this preprogrammed “urge.” GLaDOS says that asking the Reassembly Machine not to reassemble would be like asking her not to test. Now, we don’t know to what degree all the other machines feel their “urge,” but it’s pre-built into ALL of them. Whatever they do, they have to do. Because Cave FREAKIN’ Johnson decided “the testing must go on.”
But it’s not just with the Reassembly Machine that GLaDOS confirms her empathy towards this particular brand of suffering. She does it with ATLAS and P-Body, too.
We KNOW the Co-Op robots were designed and built specifically to test— forever. After all, GLaDOS built them herself. She created them to fulfill her own urge for testing. They aren’t just a perfect pair for each other; they were built to complement her, and thus eliminate the need for human testing. (Of course, as the Co-Op goes on, GLaDOS becomes frustrated because she realizes she’s grown a twisted sense of satisfaction from human pain and suffering that the robots AREN’T fulfilling, but that’s an analysis for a different time.)
Here’s the part I’m really drilling down to. When ATLAS and P-Body help GLaDOS open the vault to reveal all the human test subjects in cryostasis, she enthusiastically congratulates them and tells them “you saved science!” …before promptly blowing them up.
But why does she do that?
Well, she’s GLaDOS, of course. She probably thought it was funny. And she no longer needs them, so she kills them. But what you probably overlooked, as I did the first time, is that killing them was a mercy. In fact, she KEEPS them disassembled for a whole week while she has human test subjects instead. (I’m going to go out on a limb and say having hundreds of humans running around breaking things gave the Reassembly Machine more than enough work to do.) But why leave them like that? Why not just… like… throw them in the room where all the robots scream at you? Or even just have them do odd jobs around the facility, maybe supervising the humans?
Because then they’d suffer from their testing urge.
And GLaDOS— while she is not above killing her own faculty members— won’t stoop to make them pointlessly suffer the worst pain imaginable. For all the robots except GLaDOS herself (due to her unique black-box save feature), death is just like getting put under at the dentist’s for a while. You’re just… asleep. Ready to be woken up whenever you’re needed again. So she keeps ATLAS and P-Body in this state until the humans are all gone, because she accidentally killed them all trying to turn them into “killing machines” to take out a mysterious threat that apparently found and is now operating an old prototype Chassis. At this point, she wakes the robots back up and trains them instead— through a series of tests, of course— hoping they’ll be able to rid of the threat for her. But when they finally enter the room of the prototype Chassis and see that it’s just a bird who’s nested on the old equipment, GLaDOS is gripped by agoraphobia and— this is important—
screams at them to GET OUT.
This bird, as far as she’s concerned, is trying to take over her facility. It might even force her out of her body. Her NUMBER ONE PRIORITY should be to get that thing out. But as far as she’s concerned in that moment, this bird is also the most terrifying and pain-causing thing known to man or machine. So in a moment of panic-induced emotional weakness, her facades tumble down for a moment while she yells at her children ATLAS and P-Body to get to safety. While she’s not thinking clearly enough to construct insulting but funny quips, she reveals that she doesn’t want them to go through what she went through. Ever. Not with the testing urge, not with the bird. In fact, the panic is SO strong that even after P-Body disobeys orders and shoos the bird away, GLaDOS slips up and congratulates him on his bravery without following it up with some snide comment.}
{TL;DR, whether she likes it or not, GLaDOS retains a level of empathy for the other robots in her facility and has limits to what she will put them through.}
