Decided to give Silver a digimon partner line!

Starting off, I knew I wanted to give Silver a Kotemon, that was a very obvious choice for me, what with Silver’s connection to sword fighting.

Gladimon and Knightmon were pretty easy to figure out after that, as Gladimon was listed as one of Kotemon’s “canon” evolutions, by curtesy of Wikimon’s bolded text, and the same can be said about Knightmon for Gladimon.

Achillesmon could be replaced by Seraphimon, however I wanted a reference to Sebek with how close the two are, I wanted to add in a Pulsemon Evo (as that’s what I gave Sebek), and so, Achillesmon as the Mega level

Not only for his connections to the idea of hope- but mostly just cause he's so gosh darned cute.

I don't think it would be the standard Angemon Evo line though- I think your Patamon would go into something like Gladimon -> Knightmon -> ClavisAngemon

...where were we?

Both happy to meet a fellow Gai, Daido and Daigoji pledge to get along well.

The rest of the Nadesico's pilots introduce themselves as well. Akito is both a pilot and a cook, and the rest are the sporty Ryoko, the quirky Hikaru and the gloomy Izumi.

The bridge crew introduce themselves as well; Megumi Reinard is in charge of comms, and Haruka Minato is the helmswoman.

As is standard at this point, Uribatake Seiya, the Nadesico's mechanic, shows interest in tinkering with the Excellence.

Finally, Banjo Haran, who spoke up earlier, finally formally introduces himself. He's one of the richest men on the planet, and he's accompanied by three assistants; Reika Sanjo, an ex-Preventer, Beautiful Tachibana (ACTUAL BIRTH NAME), the daughter of the head of a tourism conglomerate, and Garrison Tokita, the eternally coolheaded yet noticeably quirky butler. Together, they use the Daitarn 3 and their various skillsets to crush the ambitions of the wicked Meganoids.

Raul is aptly stunned at the idea of someone having a personal butler in this day and age, especially one as stereotypical looking as Garrison, but that's rich people for you.

So from now on, the group will remain here at the GEAR HQ and act as needed. Until then, they'll just remain on standby, hanging out at the base, which is rather large and has a lot of ways to pass the time.

It's a VERY old-timey Super Robot setup, and one that i'm surprised isn't more common in SRW games; it makes for a very comfy feel all throughout, and i think if this game was properly translated, the setting would be a lot more appreciated. It's a lot easier to imagine Ryuugo "Nightmare Delinquent Boss of Hokkaido" Netsuma and NeurodivergentTeen McRealRobotProtag sitting around and talking about the weather around the water cooler when just hanging out and shooting the shit at the base is their status quo than on a grand continent spanning adventure where every single day they have to emergency deploy and fight 5 waves of enemies from 8 different shows (though they will definitely be doing that in this game still).

The group only has one issue. Right now, having been merged, they're not really the "Nadesico crew" or the "Frieden crew", or the "Preventers", nor are they even "GEAR"; the official denomination for their group is the Earth Sphere United Nation Defense Force, or ESUNDF for short. While certainly functional, it's very long (ESPECIALLY in japanese), and, well... it just doesn't sound cool. Shibuya concedes that this is true, and they decide to try and pitch names. How long could it take?

Well, everyone's at an impasse. No one can settle on a good name. Which means it's up to the player!

The default (and canon, probably) name is Round Knights, which to me evokes less "The Knights of the Round Table" and more Gladimon from Digimon, but it certainly sounds cooler in japanese. Plus, it has an R in the name to match the game's name, and alluding to the Knights of the Round Table is particularly apt considering some later plot implications.

All that said, however, when i'm faced with the option to rename something, i can't help but feel the urge to be silly with it overtake me. Imagine naming the team something stupid like "TUMBLR" and having the final 15 chapters be full of villains saying shit like 「おおのれTUMBLR…貴様たちさえいなければ…！！」 in their dying breaths... Still, i wouldn't want to pull a Shirogami Kodama just because of a fit of contrarianism, so you can all rest easy; we're going with Round Knights.

Vrains crew with digimon partners, part 3

first part part 2

time for another set of two people getting digimon partners and the possible evo lines, with it being egotistical knight of hanoi Specter and the star of the show Yusaku. will be trying to keep to their deck themes with the digimon levels going from child to ultimate.

Specter, the knight know for his defensive plant deck and his partner that would go well with him is Palmon.

with this plant looking fairy will be the start to his decent into a wall of vines and thorns.

his dedication to the knights of hanoi will let Palmon to evolve to Woodmon.

this is the start of the Sunavalon inspire digimon choice with this one more so represents Dryas (also got a interested in the archetype due to looking at the card art)

His resolve to prove himself enables woodmon to evolve into a full bloom guardian Jyureimon.

this old timer digimon is meant to represent the higher link rating of Dryas. he even have fruit that those link monsters used to summon other monsters.

Specter's pride of his work and his accomplishments enables Jyureimon to reach ultimate level with the elegant Bloom lordmon.

out of all the plant like digimon I felt that bloom lordmon fits with the more offensive side of his deck plus it is quite knight like fitting with the organisation he is part of.

now for main character playmaker/Yusaku he was the hardest to do caused his deck is more generic in theme. to start off I will start off with the presume prototype of digimon Dourmon.

this digimon can fit quite well with Ai place in the story being something unknown that is sought after.

his interesting bond with this talkative digimon causes it to evolve to Gladimon.

this guy is representative of the link 3 code talker line though more so decode talker.

with his friends backing him up Gladimon evolve once more into grademon.

this power golden meteor of a digimon is akin to the link 4 Accesscode talker in similar color and power.

by taking everything he learn into motion Grademon becomes the digimon born from a daydream of a digimon, Dourgoramon.

this beast of a digimon who is an avatar of destruction. Fun fact I had a hard time looking for a ultimate level digimon that fits with Yusaku and as soon as I saw this, the first thing that pop in mind was Firewall darkfluid dragon.

The Lone Knight

Summary:

As the kids continue looking for Daisuke, following by the last digivice signal caught by Koushiro's computer... Ken proceeds investigating about the mysterious Lighdramon-esque armored digimon. While fighting Gladimon alone, Lightnimon gets hit by the enemy. Then, Gladimon discovers a surprising detail from the warrior of the night.

“I work alone.”

That sounded pretty cold, but what he meant was…

“I can’t let anyone else get involved.”

Buddymon squinted his big red eyes, “What do you mean by ‘working alone’ ?! How about me!?”

“Shush you’re the exception, you’re more than a tool. You’re… Shh, I heard something.”

“W-what?”

Troops of Growlmon passed through them, but they were hiding in the trees.They wouldn’t be caught if they didn’t speak until the enemies had passed by. Once the soldiers were out of their sight, Lightnimon looked at Buddymon:

“Less talking, more action. We need to follow those guys and make sure no one gets hurt.”

“You… are planning to do that again?” Buddymon frowned, “I don’t think--”

“I said less talking! I can’t handle an entire army alone!”

“Sigh, ok ok I will share with you a bit of my power.”

Ken kept unfazed, or more like saying he kept lost in his thoughts. Without letting the others know, he started to… Gather information about the mysterious warrior they had met in the city area. It wasn’t that hard, since it was a hot topic around the Digital World.

“Do you think he went in this direction?” Iori asked the group.

“Koushiro-san said this was the last time he got a signal from Daisuke-kun’s digivice” Takeru answered.

“Ugh, why is he running away!?” Miyako pouted, arms crossed, “It makes no sense! This isn’t Daisuke’s style!”

“Maybe he’s still being targeted?” Hikari mused.

“That’s the only guess we have” Gummymon (Terriermon form) was on Hikari’s head.

“What do you think, Ken-chan?” Wormmon asked Ken but he wasn’t there “Ken-chan?”

“Isn’t a bit reckless of him going out without Wormmon at least?” Patamon commented.

“He might not be that far from here” Hawkmon replied, “Maybe I can fly and see if I can find him.”

“There’s a small community right there,” Palmon pointed out.

“Maybe we should go, right?” Armadimon looked at the digimon and the kids.

“Hmmm, what do you think, Hikari?” Tailmon said.

“We can’t let him get lost,” she responded, and they all nodded in agreement.

“They said this digimon, Lightnimon, is fearsome. If he doesn’t like you, he sends you to your end”

Ken heard the conversation of a few Lalamon at the entrance of a small town. But he was so distracted by it that he didn’t see someone else watching him and the digimon from the shadows.

“That’s terrible!!” Two Lalamons commented on the other one’s report.

“I saw him!” The third Lalamon said, “There were a few bad guys and he slashed them with fire and lightning.”

“How scary!!” the other two gasped.

“But some townspeople around the areas attacked by evil digimon said he saved them, so he’s been treated as an angel guardian.”

“I’m glad he’s on our side” the second Lalamon sighed in relief.

“Huh, there’s someone watching us” the first Lalamon looked at Ken in the distance, “Eh? A human?”

“O-oh, it’s alone…” “A human shouldn’t be alone here…”

They looked at Ken, who looked behind and saw no one. So he looked at the Lalamon trio and pointed at himself. The floating plant-like digimon nodded.

“Oh… Um… Sorry for eavesdropping” he said once he approached them.

“It’s okay” the second Lalamon smiled, “But what are you doing all alone, kid?”

“I was… Looking for more answers about this digimon you were talking about.”

“So, you… Want to meet him?” the trio asked, eyes blinking.

“M-maybe?”

“Oh no no no, this is not a good thing!” the third Lalamon waved the tiny hands “This digimon is too dangerous for you! And he’s not an enemy, so why would a human who's partnered with a digimon (I assume) want to meet him!?”

“Because he said he saw my friend” Ken replied, “Anyway, did you see a child a bit shorter than me, with spiky and messy hair, goggles and accompanied by a V-mon?”

“Um… No?”

“Ok…”

“Actually” the first Lalamon said, “There’s also a recent myth about a mysterious kid wielding a weapon or something and haunting digimon”

“D-Daisuke wouldn’t do that!! Wait, you didn’t specify if it was a human or a digimon… My bad.”

“Yeah, the reports mention a kid, but not if it is a digimon or a human. Sorry.”

“No it’s Okay--”

Suddenly a loud explosion was heard inside the village. Also they felt the ground shaking.

“What the--”

“Oh noo, the bad guys!!” the trio babbled.

Ken was about to grab his D-terminal when he saw a very fast shadow move and pass through them, and he completely lost it in the horizon. And to make things worse, he went after it… Without noticing Wormmon wasn’t around either.

The small town was under attack: The Growlmon army were destroying houses and then capturing innocents, throwing them inside cages they had brought. But suddenly some of the Growlmon started to disappear, turning into bits of data. When the troop looked in the direction their comrades were before being destroyed, they found a not-so-big digimon covered by a cloak, with a claw coming into their direction.

“While he takes care of the meanies, I will free you guys from those cages. Step back everyone.” Lightnimon approached, and with a mysterious glaive with Lighdramon-motif he slashed the bars of the cage with the said weapon’s blade. The bars fell on the floor and the villagers left quickly.

He kept slashing the bars of the cages one by one and alone, until he got blocked by a Gladimon enemy. Lightnimon stepped back, avoiding an attack from the opponent.

“Oh so you’re the mysterious digimon from the rumors” Gladimon stood in front, pointed his rapier at the masked critter “Interesting. But your acts of bravery will end here.”

Meanwhile, Ken was just spying on the hooded digimon fighting the Growlmon army.

“That cloaked digimon…” Ken mused mentally

Suddenly he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. He had put it on this mode before approaching from the battle, and now he quickly checked it out. It was a message from Miyako. Shoot, he forgot to message the group and now he realized Wormmon wasn’t around either.

He decided the best to do was back off. And he did. On his way back to the group, he saw shadows fighting at the distance. But that was all, there were sparks in that direction, though without Wormmon he couldn’t check it out. He reached the entrance of the town only to meet Wormmon and the group coming in his direction.

“Ken-kun you--”

“There’s no time for that! This town is under attack!”

“What!?”

Lightnimon’s blade clashed with Gladimon’s rapiers, and none of them managed to cause critical damage to the other until now, but…

… Gladimon’s blades hit his arm, causing a minor cut on it. The digimon was about to brag about their skills when they saw something:

There was something crimson running down his arm, at least not much.

“You… You’re not a digimon!!”

“Huh? Of course I am. What? You think just because you hit me you can tell if I’m a digimon or not?”

“You....!!”

The mysterious big hooded digimon approached from there and released a fireball at Gladimon, destroying him immediately. Then he grabbed Lightnimon and ran away.

“Wait!! The captives--”

“They’re here, let them take care of the rest” the other responded.

“... ‘They’ ? O-oh the Chosen Children.. Right..”

And they were indeed inside, beating the army which now had no other option but to surrender and run away. Without Gladimon’s assistance, they became just a confused crowd with no reasons to keep fighting for. Digmon, Horusmon and Miyako opened the remaining cages.

“And that’s the last one, dagya” Digmon said, while the villagers left the cage.

“Thank you, Chosen Children” the populace said altogether.

“But… where’s our Guardian Angel?” A small Tanemon asked.

“Huh?” Hikari frowned. None of the group knew what those digimon were talking about.

“The warrior digimon in Lighdramon-esque armor!” 

“Wait, was he here?” Palmon asked.

“Yeah, he was opening the cages when a bad guy attacked,” said a Pomumon.

“And then Gladimon hit him, and said he wasn’t a digimon,” a Bearmon added.

“Not a digimon?” the kids exclaimed.

“Huh… But why did the enemy say that?” Miyako raised an eyebrow.

“I suspect there’s something going on,” Tailmon mused, “Digimon or not he’s weird, but we shouldn’t let our guards down.”

“Why do you say that?” Armadimon asked.

“Wizarmon… He wasn’t a regular digimon from this world” Tailmon explained, “It can be that that black armored digimon is not from this world either, perhaps… He could be made of the same data as Gennai and the Agents.”

“You mean… Not a real digimon?” Patamon commented, “Then, why would he pretend to be one?”

“No, there’s something off.” Ken said mentally to himself, “I will keep investigating this with or without you guys’ approval.”

“Oh, Koushiro-san sent a message” Iori interrupted the current discussion, “Daisuke-san’s digivice signal was spotted in the next area.”

“Right! Let’s go then!” Mimi said, “No signal from Wallace’s yet?”

“No signal from Wallace-san’s digivice was detected at the moment, sorry.”

“Ok ok, let’s let’s find Daisuke-kun as soon as possible”

“They said I’m not a digimon.”

Buddymon took care of Lightnimon’s wound, and sighed. He knew something like this would happen soon or later.

“Why would they say that?” It was indeed a question directed at Buddymon.

“Look, it’s true digimon bleed, but… Sigh.”

“Spit it out” he growled, “say that already!!”

“Digimon, Agents and humans have different scents. I don’t think he implied you’re human though.”

“Have you ever seen an Agent bleed tho?!”

“That’s… a good question. I wouldn’t go find one and ask or hurt them.”

“I’m still not sure what happened. So explain it, now!!” he said, annoyed.

“Uhh… How to explain this….”

“You’re making this harder! Tell me now!”

“Maybe that Gladimon had battled enemies enough to learn how to tell what’s a digimon’s blood and what’s not?”

“That put a nail in my plans!” he snorted, looking away.

“Are you mad?”

“Of course I am!”

Suddenly, at the distance, they saw Frostmon. This wasn’t a good hour for more fights, but Lightnimon had something in mind:

“I will ask her some questions. We need this information to find him after all“

“Isn’t it a bit risky? You’re injured.”

“Hey it ain’t a big deal! It’s just a scratch.”

Buddymon couldn’t stop him at this point, so he just watched his partner-in-crime walk towards Frostmon.

“I hope he doesn’t get even more hurt…” Buddymon whispered in concern.
