Hehehe I meant it when I said I have more planned for this AU!!

This comic takes place shortly after the Doodler’s homunculus body was made. Lark and Sparrow try to figure out how they feel about the situation.

(Small note: I really don’t think a marriage based upon cheating is a healthy one, so Rebecca and Sparrow are divorced in this. Sorry if you were hoping to see her!)

Sparrow: Oh boy… what do we do about… them? (how did the kids even manage to do this…)

Lark: I don’t know, but they can’t stay here.

Sparrow: We can’t just kick out a kid, Lark!

Lark: They’re not a human child and you know it.

Sparrow: The neighbors don’t know that! It looks like an Oak, imagine what they would think!

Lark: And god forbid people think the Oaks are weird.

Sparrow: That’s not what I meant and you know it! Besides, you were fine with the mini Doodler in the house earlier.

Lark: Barely. It couldn’t grab things and we would be able to see when it was using magic then!

Sparrow: A kid is easier to keep an eye on than a blob!

Lark: With what time? Without Rebecca we both have to work, and we have our hands full already with Hero and Normal! It can stay with the others or at HQ.

So the campaign I’m running for my friends (I say friends as if we are not actually cousins who enjoy each other’s company) is a bit.....silly? I’m not sure what the word I’m looking for is honestly, english is not my first language so don’t take it too literally. What I mean is it’s not an epic high stake completely dark themed adventure. It’s nothing too elaborate, actually quite the contrary. It relays, I don’t want to say heavily, but modularity on popular tropes for the sake of keeping the younger ones and the newbies interested and entertained.

In short, the campaign is basically these heroes being summoned by the elven queen and being tasked with secretly escorting her only daughter to her betrothed after word got out that in order to put an end to essentially the equivalent of the cold war between the elven kingdoms and the Drows, she had arranged for the marriage of her daughter and the Drow king hopping to create some type of an alliance.

The entire realm is in an uproar. The Elven council is against it, the church is against it, the Order of the Gauntlet is against it (the princess is a paladin and a worshiper of Torm) and the people are against it as well. It is safe to say that every living thing in the campaign is pursuing them in order to stop the princess from reaching the underdark and marrying the Drow king, a union in the eyes of many unnatural and horrid and just cannot and shall not be.

My problem is the idea of the campaign is straight forward a simple get from point A to point B, it relays on traveling and I need other things to throw at them other than just random creatures/monsters they stumble upon in the forest or whatever land they’re traveling across. I need side quest they are willing to divert from the original path to complete, I need dungeons they are interested in exploring or anything other than exploring the towns they find on their way. I need to keep things interesting for them and I do have ideas of puzzles or challenges for them to complete I’m just unsure on how to persuade them to bother with them in the first place. Not as players, but as their character. I do have a couple of plot twist to throw at them at some point but that’s later once they start the arch of the underdark. I need something simpler for the early few sessions before things get heated and difficult.

Any ideas?
