Since there basically aren't any date indicators (as far as I noticed), I will just add the date of the post. This is the day of this blog creation.
Just so you know, here is my favourite character of all times, Gil Tae-mi from "Six flying dragons" TV series (highly recommended). I consider him to be my personal nonbinary icon.

Six Flying Dragons episode 9
I barely remember what happened after this scene because I was no thoughts head empty WRUNG OUT
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was really notp:ing them after the traumatic events of their childhood, but the way they both played this scene had me gasping for breath. Understated and absolutely gutting.
This was the first true glimpse into Yeon-hee’s inner life, and so far Jeong Yoo-mi plays her with an appealing maturity and poise. Also she says things like “If you hold out a blade to a drowning man he’ll grab onto it to survive” with a ruthless little smile on her face, so obviously I adore her

Rules: List the first line of your last 10 (posted) fics and see if there's a pattern.
Tagged by @seamayweed. Thanks, I love these kinds of challenges!
Chi and Mei--The woman calling herself Yun Weishan lay naked in Shangguan Qian’s bed, though the comforter had been replaced over her so that nothing was visible below the neck.
The White Snake--The first time Yang sees the snakes around Tian is the day after they went to the opera.
A Hard Call--Myung-gil had known he’d lose some men assailing Choi Tae-ho’s house, which was almost a fortress, but he hadn’t thought he’d have to kill any of them himself.
all i will take are the consequences--Min-woo wouldn’t have guessed on his own that Lee Jun-seong and Song Jae-hyo were fucking.
mi soledad que da vueltas los brazos como un naufrago--“Why?” Min-woo says.
Loaded, Unloaded--If asked, Jo Young-jae couldn’t have said why he came up to the roof.
a shared punishment--Choi Chi-hoon tried to pick the lock on the handcuffs.
A Small Black Puppy--Hong-sae met the dog in the middle of a bridge.
chasing their own fantasy--Honestly, Eon Nyeoni finds Nam Hee-shin interesting.
Don't Want to Walk Alone--“An engagement?” Li Xiangyi raised his eyebrows.
At first glance, since I went in reverse chronological order, the main trend I immediately notice is that I've been writing longer first sentences lately. I think that's pretty immediately obvious if you just glance at this list. Some of the shorter ones (chasing their own fantasy, a shared punishment, A Small Black Puppy, Loaded Unloaded) are even their own separate paragraph.
However. Reverse chronological order of posting/updating is deceptive. "A White Snake" was posted recently, but I actually wrote it in September; "A Hard Call" was updated recently, but its first chapter was posted in October, and even then, it's a follow-up on a fic I wrote even longer ago. So... it's more like I usually write short first lines, but occasionally I do go longer, without much of a chronological element.
Otherwise... idk, there's a lot of variation. I don't often start with dialogue, but I do on occasion, especially when the fic is going to be short or fast-paced. I never start with imagery--"Chi and Mei" comes close, but it's only half imagery, really, the other half just orienting the reader in a canonical scene. "The White Snake" has a second and third sentence with more imagery, but the first sentence is more context. I often start with introspection, but I also often start with action. It's fun to try out different things.
Tagging: @trifoliate-undergrowth @flo-nelja @iatethepomegranate @general-sleepy @aboxthecolourofheartache @smylealong and anyone else who wants to do it <3

SFD rewatch, episodes 1-5
One of the best first episodes of a series. Quickly and indelibly establishes the characterization of all the major players.
Love the kid actors, but mainly Lee Re as Boon-yi.
Piglet scene still as unacceptable as the first time. Come on.
Absolutely in love with the theatrical scene constructions, including how we meet Jeong do jeon (stealing a potato); the farce at Yi In geom's residence, Ddang-sae telling the story of "Viper", and the first time we see the Do Dang. I do love Jeong do-jeon inciting a riot (and Kim Myung-min's sexy sexy voice) but also? I think on the first watch and now, it felt a bit off. Mostly because the song becomes a swelling soundtrack over the scene- I wish they had just let it be Jeong do jeon's voice going hoarse and a few people singing it.
Got impatient with the segue into Gongmin's assassination, and at some points the name drops become tiresome. I know SFD was written for an audience familiar with these characters, and so this is on me, but having to pause every few minutes to look up wiki or bodashri's tumblr (seriously MVP of the SFD fandom) is not a great viewing experience for me.
Gil Tae mi -11/10 no notes, especially in that mango-yellow robe. Park Hyuk-kwon completely pussy out in this drama, playing twins who are polar opposites in everything except that they fight like ballet dancers.
Had to ffwd Yeon-hee's rape scene and aftermath. Yes, we get it, losing his mother and his lover are foundational to everything about Ddang-sae, but hoo boy, how about they'd...just not?
I just really, really enjoy Hong In-bang's villainy- his turn to it makes 50 times more sense to me that whatever is going on with that little psycho with his murder grove. [When he went on about justice preventing evil, my eyes rolled back in my head so hard. OKAY, you pathetic little meow-meow, if that works for you, I GUESS.]
Love that the writers re-used a line from TwDR- paraphrased, it's that "the people endure, while monarchies rise and fall". In TwDR, when Sejong says it to Jeong gi-joon, it's to refute his rather nihilistic view of the chaotic future where people are able to choose their own leaders; here Hong In bang uses it to justify raising taxes on an already overtaxed population. Writers nim, your minds.
Boon yi is THE BEST
Moo-hyul is a baby. Imagine watching the extremely boring Jo Jin-woong playing this character in 2011 and then waking up to Yoon Kyung-sang's adorable himbeaux portrayal in this.
Byun Yo-han is such a genuinely lovely actor; I just wish that Ddang-sae's whole trajectory wasn't unmitigated misery. It's harder on the rewatch because at least the first time I had hope. I think writer nims are fond of reminding us that being born poor , and consequently often powerless to resist constant degradation, is a lifelong curse that only a few escape- you see it in Kang Chae Yoon's fate as well- but I think Kang Chae yoon's fate felt like less of a punishment by capricious gods than Ddang-sae's.
Ok, but Byun Yo-han and that marketplace performance. LOVELY.
Ddang-sae's leaving Baek Yoon's dead body in the street like a prom invite for Sambong. (and then he went and left and actual note that says "whom do i kill next?") made me laugh. C'mon Sambong, take some time out from fulfilling your divine purpose to give this boy the railing he deserves. I feel like so many of both their problems would have been solved by this.

Six Flying Dragons episodes 14 and 15
Sambong’s unflinching trust in Yeon-hee when she’s delivered to him like a sack of double-spying potatoes. Ahhh!!! I want them to KISS
I enjoyed Hong In-bang finding out about the proposal plot so much. Die mad traitor <3
‟If you have any use for my body, please use it” 👀
Sorry that this blog is just me thirsting after my Goryeo-era blorbos but Gil Tae-mi in angry mode, ngl I am Into It. He’s been defensive in every fight so far and I just like seeing him belligerent!
Speaking of hot people, Min Da-kyung continues to excel. She picks the winner, not on instinct (the way everyone is drawn to Sambong’s overwhelming ethos and charisma) but because she has done The Math. Yi Bang-won if your heart can stay cold you are a stronger man than I

you didn't come here to capture me, did you? at least a hundred of you should be here if you want to capture me. you also need tools, like an iron net. so don't die in vain.

Gil Tae Mi is so iconic, one of the best characters out there. Park Hyuk Kwon did an amazing job, no one could have done it better.

SFD rewatch Episodes 15-18
Ok, I will admit that Yi Bang won's entire adventure with the gunpowder, treason and plot was very sexy of him
Loved the foreshadowing with Hong In Bang and Yi Bang won. I just love Hong In Bang's character a lot, ok? His conversation with Sambong- Goryeo being rotten through and through, and his cynical/ nihilistic view of "the people"/ humanity vs Sambong's determination to create and hope for a better world- this is the fundamental argument in TwDR as well- had me muttering " I cannot believe we're so poorly made as that" [ maybe I should rewatch BS after this, just for the pain lolol]
Gil Tae-mi! Who has loved Goryeo more than him? *sobbing wretchedly * Park Hyuk-kwon probably walked away with all the awards, didn't he? Or he should have. The entire fight scene is just so dramatically satisfying- the deadly earnestness of the fight, the beauty and terror of it, the snow beginning to fall, the people watching history being made - and then the notes of Mu yi-yi-ya float over- just, fantastic, fantastic cinema.
Also loved that little moment where Hong Dae-hong mourns the "stupid little boy" who was bullied by his father and grew into the amoral fabulous murder unicorn Gil Tae-mi
Boon yi's growth as a thinker and politician in her own right is just so important to me .
Every time Yeon hee/Sambong/Ddang-sae are in the same scene, I'm screaming NOW KISS at them. No SERIOUSLY, it could have changed HISTORY.
