In my playthrough I fucked up and skipped a LOT of content by accidentally doing things out of order/ bugging my forward. So I figured I should try again from the start and I can't. The gender disparity in plot-relevant npcs felt worse the second time, and it turns out I can only swallow the fantasy racism once; between the slurs, the refugee plot, some species being all evil monsters because gigax said so. it's the game that feels worse the more I look at it

idk a lot of the unfortunate worldbuilding bits are very much a result of bg3 being a dnd game based off of the descent to avernus module, so the tiefling racism and the tiefling refugees kinda….. gotta be there, for whatever that’s worth. i dont really have anything else to add there. mayhaps try wotr if you want something in the same vein of bg3 without the aspects of dnd worldbuilding that r unpalatable? idk :<

Yo Tazma, I'm not saying it was right to say it, but there's that one line when I first heard it I was dying of laughter, in how to train a mysticon when you said: "May the star of gigax, guide you on your quest." *looks at malvaron* "and may it guide you, over a cliff" I was crying laughing! 😂

And Proxima, how long do you think you and Tazma could put up with eachother? And how long are geminas months?

I think this is an interesting question because of how the hobby originated. There is the factor that you were not really able to pick who you played with because there were only so many people who would be able to play dnd with you, and then what if this person is your friend outside of the game. While he might be a bad player he is still one of your (likely) few friends.

I think from their a mentality became accepted in the TTRPG community that you are expected to just get along with this bad player instead of not playing with them. If you really have a problem with them though the mentality is often to punish them in game.

I think this could also originate somewhat with the type of attitude Gigax had and brought to the game.

every time i see a tweet like this i think “why do you play with people like this”. like why is dnd play culture so bad that this is an Archetypal Type of Guy they all seem to recognise. can you imagine tweeting this about any other hobby?? ‘musicians: what do you do about the guy in your band who screams I HATE MUSIC and tries to eat the drumsticks every rehearsal’

So my friend is planning a dnd game with a similar premise to the anime gate, except one key difference is the portal just kinda opened. And there's peace efforts. I'm helping with the lore a bit, and one funny thing we are doing is have elven scholars be like "Wait this Tolkien guy... he's wrong, like very wrong, but a suprising amount is right?" As a reference to how Gigax just... took LOTR lore and changed names.

Also, the character I'm planning on playing is a wood elf that has a sniper rifle standard issue as part of the task force, but rarely uses it in favour of compound bows. Like, he's really excited about the advances in bow tec and shit.
