Pairing: Benny Cross x fem!ex-girlfiriend! reader Summary: After your rather stormy breakup, Benny decides he can't live without you. He'll get you back. At any cost. Even if he has to force you over his motorcycle and take you far out of town. Taglist for Benny: @aleemendoza2425-blog Benny Cross' Masterlist ~â˘â¤â¤â¤â˘~ Main Masterlist P.S. I accept requests for Benny if you want to read sth specific with our boy đ
Even if it's handcuffed I'm leaving here with you Bygones will be bygone eras Fading into gray We broke all the pieces, but still want to play the game I told my friends I hate you but I love you just the same Pick your poison, babe I'm poison either way... Whether I'm gonna be your wife or Gonna smash up your bike I haven't decided yet But I'm gonna get you back - "imgonnagetyouback" Taylor Swift
âWhat the hell is he doing here?â You ask angrily, looking out your office window as you see your exâs Harley parked next to your car.
"Maybe he forgot something from you. Did you give him all his stuff back?" Your friend asks, putting the papers into a folder.
"No. I gathered all four of his shirts and two pairs of pants and made myself a campfire behind the house." You huff angrily, closing the blinds so you wouldn't have to watch the blue-eyed Vandal leaning against your car.
"So what does he want? From what you've told me, your relationship ended in a hell of a bad way, and he was a world-class asshole." You tremble at the mere memory of your breakup with Benny.
You and he met at one of the Vandals' bar. You happened to go there for a drink with your girls; he noticed you and started talking with you. He was flirting with you the whole night and tried to take you with him for a ride on his bike. The first time you turned him down. Then he tracked down where you lived and showed up at your door, offering a ride to your work.
You should have seen a red flag then. But you were too stupid and infatuated by him enough to think it was romantic.
As time went on, he took you to Vandals meetings more and more often. And it was fun. Until you had to bail him out of arrest, pick him up from the hospital, and wait forever for him at home, wondering if he'd be sleeping next to you in bed or at the police station.
And one day, when he ended up in the hospital after some guys beat him up for wearing Vandal's colours, you broke. You begged him to stop while he was still alive and well (which was doubtful considering the doctors were still debating whether to cut off his foot); you literally knelt by his bed and cried like a baby while all he cared about was whether he could keep riding.
But that wasn't the worst. The worst was that every time you argued, he threatened to leave, to disappear, that it would be best for you if he left you alone. And at first you begged him, terrified, to stay, but over time you started to react to those words... more aggressively.
Then you decided you were fed up with living with the wandering cat he was and broke up with him. Roughly. Stormily. Your neighbours heard more than one of your arguments, and the whole street saw you throwing his stuff out the window and finally throwing rocks at him as he rode away on his beloved Harley. On second thought, maybe you were both two big damn red carpets.
"I don't want to know. Will you take me home? The last thing I want today is to meet that son of a bitch."
You sigh, dragging the papers to your desk. You grab your black blazer and throw it on over your white shirt. You adjust your black pencil skirt and grab your purse to follow your friend.
You took the job as a secretary right after breaking up with Benny. You quit your old job not wanting him to know where you worked, but apparently Vandal had his ways. You wonder if choosing another job wasn't a slap in the face for Benny. Choosing such a boring and ordinary job would piss him off even more and prove that you really aren't made for each other.
Just like Benny, you could be hellishly mean.
"What the hell?" Your friend asks as you exit out the back and her car isn't in the parking lot. But there is another Vandal with his motorcycle.
"Johnny." You greet him and walk over to him, crossing your arms. Your friend is hot on your heels. "What are you doing here?"
"Kiddo said you two have a problem in your relationship."
"We don't have any relationship, so there is no problem between us. But apparently, my friend lost her car. Can you help her?" You ask him, furious with Benny for not acknowledging your breakup.
"Y/N... you know that I don't like to get involved in the shit that's not mine, but this kid has been going crazy for a month now. He's been doing even worse shitty things than before, and I can't tell you how many times we've picked him up from jail in the past few fucking weeks. If you ever cared about him, talk to him. He's becoming wildly unpredictable. Even for me."
You bite your lip at his words. You know perfectly well what Benny is like, or rather what he was like before he met you. Thanks to you, he stopped riding so fast and carefree, ended up in the hospital much less often, and even obeyed the speed limit when you were with him on his bike.
You can only imagine what he's been up to in your absence and to what extent, since Johnny took an interest and came to you to talk about it.
"Don't manipulate me, Johnny. You know damn well he deserved it. Now you know what I had to deal with throughout this whole fucking relationship." You reply dryly, not wanting to fall for the Vandals' sweet words again.
You loved them like family, but sometimes you have to cut yourself off from them to save your sanity. And you desperately needed some time to yourself and a break from all of Benny's antics.
"Well... I know Benny isn't easy, but he really is a good kid. Carrot and stick. That's what he needs. And for the sake of your lady-buddy's car and your friendship... maybe you should go and have a few words with him."
"Screw you." You growl, rolling your eyes, and walk away from them. "What are you waiting for?! Take her to this fucking car!" You shout, walking back to the main building to exit through the main entrance.
Johnny puts your friend on his bike, and all you can do is give her an apologetic look as he takes her to where they moved her car. You don't even want to know how they did it.
You sigh as you walk through the office and stand in front of the main exit doors. You glance at your watch and walk out of the building with your heart in your mouth.
You walk down the sidewalk with the other people from work who have just left. Benny's blue irises land on you immediately. He straightens up, stopping leaning against your car and throwing away a cigarette he was smoking. He looks at you expectantly. You nod at him and pretend to walk in his direction.
You cross the street on the crosswalk, but instead of turning right towards the parking lot, you run as hard as you can to the left towards the bus stop.
"Y/N!" Benny shouts after you, and a moment later, you hear the thud of his combat boots against the pavement as he runs after you.
The bus pulls up to the stop, and you run inside. Luckily, the driver closes the doors before Benny can get to them. He bangs on the glass, shouting your name and some curse words, but you can't hear him clearly as the bus starts moving.
You breathe a sigh of relief and wipe your sweaty forehead. This time you did it. You just hoped your friend would get her car back before Benny went to Johnny and complained to him that you ran away.
But for now, you're happy that you managed to outsmart your ex.
The next morning you cautiously peer out from behind your front door, searching for a head of blonde hair. Even though you couldn't see any Vandal's motorcycle through the window, you wanted to be sure that none would suddenly pop out from nowhere.
You sigh with relief, not seeing anything suspicious.
You open the door wider, but something is blocking you. On your way out, you notice a huge bouquet of your favourite flowers. You pick it up and examine it carefully, but you don't see any note or card. But you do see a necklace.
The flowers are tied with a fucking necklace. The necklace Benny gave you at the beginning of your relationship with his initials carved into the back of the silver heart. (One of the guys worked at a jeweler's and did it for him for practically free through a connection or something.) The necklace you threw in his face when you broke up with him.
Furious, you want to throw the flowers in the trash. Instead, you decide to put the necklace in your pocket and walk to work. On the way, you pass a school and hand the bouquet to the first girl you see. At least she was happy because of those damn flowers.
As you continue your walk, you see a motorcyclist in the distance. You tense up and quicken your pace, praying that it's not a Vandal, but apparently you're out of luck today.
"Y/N?! How long have we not seen each other?!" Danny screams as he rides to you. You sigh as his bike blocks the entire sidewalk and force a smile.
"Probably ages ago. How you doing?"
"Great. Can I give you a ride somewhere? Where's Benny? Shouldn't he be the one hauling your ass to work?" He asks, already taking out a helmet for you. You reluctantly accept it and climb behind him on the bike.
"We broke up." You inform him, knowing full well that he's been away from the Vandals lately due to studies and his photography stuff.
"Oh shit. He must be devastated then." He comments and starts the engine. You hold on to him as he drives you to the address you gave him.
The drive takes a few minutes. Luckily, your car is still parked outside the building, and you don't see any parked bikes.
"Thanks. Danny? Can you give this to Benny? You probably will see him sooner than me." You say and hand him the necklace. He nods and drives away, leaving you alone.
You approach your car and curse, seeing the lock placed on the wheel. Not a police lock. A lock that the Vandals often put on and took off in exchange for small money. A small tag was attached to it. It had the date and time written on itâprobably their next meeting that they wanted you to join in exchange for taking the damn thing off your car.
"Bad day?"
You flinch and turn around, surprised by someone's presence. You sigh with relief when you see only Mikeâan accountant from the company you worked for.
"Bad week. Plus, it looks like I'm grounded." You say and kick your leg against the wheel of your car.
"Yeah, I recognise that. My friend had to pay them like $100 to get that damn thing off. He was rushing to some meeting and couldn't wait for the police and similar stuff. I can get someone to take it off for you."
"I'm afraid I don't have enough money." You sigh, mentally preparing yourself for a weekend with the Vandals. In Benny's company. Talking to him. You already feel sick.
"For free. Friend of mine owns me a little favour."
"Seriously?" You ask, shocked. He nervously rubs the back of his neck with his hands and nods, giving you an uncertain smile.
"Yeah, no problem. And before he will do it... do you mind if we both go to lunch? I mean... you don't have to if you don't want to..."
"You know... I would actually like that." You interrupt him with a smirk, seeing him stuttering, unable to finish his sentence as he blushes.
"Really?" You almost giggle at his incredulous question and the gleam of happiness in his eyes. You nod with a huge, genuine smile, practically forgetting why you agreed to this date in the first place. "So... in four hours at the exit?"
"I will be waiting." With a smile, you leave him behind and enter the office. Maybe this day wasn't such a tragedy after all...
Benny was drinking beer with Johnny and Danny at a table in their favourite bar. The Vandals were circling him like vultures, just waiting for a little sensation and gossiping about his breakup with you.
"It must be hard for you, man. We all saw how much you loved her. Like a Catholic loves a goddamn God."
"Too bad she can't see it." Benny mumbles, lighting a cigarette. His one hand plays with the necklace he left on your doorstep this morning, which you gave to Denny. Benny gave you his fucking heart, and you still rejected it. He had to try harder. He had to talk to you first.
"Hey Benny-boy? How are you? Are you still getting over your breakup with your girlfriend? Do you love her that much? Come on, come with us. We'll race to the brothel, and you'll forget about this bitch in a second." Some Vandal walks up to him and pats him on the back.
"Benny no..." Johnny is interrupted by the crash of Vandal's jaw as Benny's fist hits him.
A second later, a beer bottle shatters over the head of a bleeding man on the floor, and Johnny and Danny try to pull him away from the guy. The entire club boos and cheers for the fight, but the guys quickly drag Benny outside.
"What the hell?! You can love her, but damn, don't be such a girl and react at each shitty comment!" Johnny yells at him and hits him in the chest with his hands. Benny huffs indignantly and puts his hands in his pockets to stop himself from hitting him.
"I hate her!" He growls furiously and plays with the necklace in his pants' pocket.
"And love her just the same, huh?" Danny asks and gives Benny a cigarette.
Benny doesn't answer. He smokes furiously, trying to clear his head, but all he can think about is you. Your scent, your taste, the softness of your body, the shudder of your breath beneath him, the way you clenched your hands around his shirt across his stomach when you rode with him on his bike, the way you pressed yourself against him and snuggled up to him every chance you got... fuck, he missed you. More than he previously thought he would be.
"Benny?! I saw your girl with some man in a suit! At that one of those Italian restaurants on the corner of Main Street. You know, the shitty one for rich people. You should do something about this." One of the bikers rides up and informs him, then rides away before Benny can say anything.
"Kid, don'tâŚ" Johnny tries to stop him, but Benny is already on his motorcycle. He starts it and rides as fast as he can, ignoring the shouts behind him.
All Benny could think about was how he was going to beat up the guy who dared to touch you. You were his girlfriend. You were one of the Vandals. You might have been on a break, but that didn't give any man the right to hit on you. Not when you had Benny and Benny had you.
It was simple logic. Nobody messes with the Vandals and their girls.
Benny sped through the city, not stopping at red lights. It wasn't until he was at a restaurant that he stopped his Harley.
He didn't turn off the engine, though. He was staring intently through the restaurant windows and checking out each customer until his eyes landed on you and some shit in a suit who had the nerve to get your attention.
Benny tugged on the handle, causing his bike's engine to roar furiouslyâlike a guard dog giving a warning before it attacks. He increased the engine's roar until your eyes met his.
A cold shiver ran through him as you threw him one of your angry looks, and he felt hurt when you ignored him and continued to talk with the man sitting in front of you and gave him one of your most wonderful smiles. Fuck it. The guy wouldn't be able to walk when Benny got to him.
Benny reaches into his pocket, pulls out a pack of Marlboro, and lights his cigarette. He holds it to his mouth with one hand while the other continues to crank the handle of the engine, so that the roar of the engine drowns out any conversation you might have had with the man in front of you.
He smirks as you and the guy in front of you stare in his direction. He holds a cigarette between his plush lips and waves at you, causing an irritated frown to form on your forehead.
Benny can't help but feel a strange bile rising in his throat as he looks at the two of you. You were on a date with a guy who was clearly the opposite of Benny. He wonders if this is what you really wantâa boring guy with a boring job and a tonne of money who could build you a house with a fucking white picket fence and drive you to work in his Cooper car and the kids to preschool. It makes him sick to think that you could be anyone else, that you could have anyone else's children, that you could be married to some guy in a suit and live the life of a fucking decent 1950s shitty family.
Benny knew perfectly well that he couldn't give you what this guy could provide you. He couldn't even afford a date at a restaurant like that.
However, it didn't change the fact that he loved you so damn much.
"Hey! Biker dude, leave Y/N alone!" A guy in a suit comes out of the restaurant and yells at him. Benny calmly finishes his cigarette and throws it on the ground, staring silently at the man in front of him. "Did you hear me, degenerate? Get out of here!" The guy pushes him, hitting his chest. For Benny, that's enough.
He lands the first punch with his right fist, landing perfectly on his opponent's cheek. The next punch sends blood pouring from the man's nose onto his snow-white shirt. But for Benny, it's not enough.
He throws the guy to the ground, and the two begin to fight in earnest. Benny, however, has a much greater advantage and motivation as he takes out all his anger on the guy below him. He only snaps out of this strange trance when someone's hands pull him away from the bleeding man below him.
"What the fuck was that, Benny?! You almost killed him!" You yell at him angrily, pulling your hands away from him as quickly as you can. Benny says nothing, staring at you silently as he processes what he just did. Several other motorcycles pull up in front of the restaurant, with Johnny in the lead.
"Let's go, kid! Before the police arrive."
Benny stares at you, not quite wanting to leave before he explains why he beat up your date. But he stops himself the moment he sees the fear and disgust in your eyes. It hurts Benny more than any punch he could have taken. He clenches his jaw and walks to his bike. He starts the engine and gives you one last long look, then lowers his head in shame as he joins the other Vandals.
Your hair flutters in the wind as you watch the Vandals drive away. You run over to Mike and wait with him until the ambulance arrives. But you don't follow him to the hospital. You have more important things to take care of in the city.
With trembling hands, you knock on the door. You wait patiently outside, considering the pros and cons, but before you can chicken out and leave, Betty opens the door for you.
"Y/N? This is quite a surprise."
"Can I come in? I need to talk to you." The woman makes room for you and lets you in. You greet her and Johnny's daughters, who are watching a cartoon on TV, and you go with her to the kitchen, where you can talk in peace. "It's about Benny."
"I expected it. You know, we were all very surprised when you broke up. We were convinced that a week longer and the boy would start looking for an engagement ring for you."
"Benny and marriage? Not in this lifetime, I guess." You scoff and sit down at the small kitchen island with a smile, thanking her for the coffee she made you. "He fucking almost beat my date to death today. He's acting crazy. Johnny tells me he's been like this since I broke up with him, but we both know he was like this long before we even met. What the hell am I supposed to do, Betty? Get out of town? Out of America? Vandals have expanded all over the states, and most of them aren't the same old club they used to be."
"I know. Believe me, I know best." Silence falls between you after her words. You nod, understanding perfectly that she of you had the most right to worry. You sigh, running your hand through your hair. "Y/N... I'll give you some advice. If you don't care about him that much... if you think you can forget and move on, then save yourself. Run away wherever you want, as far away from him as possible, and forget. But if you can't... then stay and talk some sense into him before it's too late to save him."
"Save him? You know perfectly well he won't abandon the Vandals."
"Like you said, they're not the same Vandals they used to be. They've changed. Johnny sees it. Benny sees it. And they both still fool themselves, but when some shit happens, it finally gets to them. And believe me, Benny loves his bike and freedom, but the Vandals aren't his family anymore. You are." You fall silent at her words, processing everything she said. You nod and sigh, taking a cigarette out of the pack in your pocket. "We smoke outside." She admonishes you. You laugh quietly and raise your hands in surrender.
"All right. Thanks for everything, Betty." You sigh as you leave the house. You light a cigarette and walk across town to the Vandals' bar. You have to finish everything you had to finish with Benny. You couldn't just leave town without a word. There's no telling what the Vandal would do if you suddenly disappeared.
You throw your cigarette into the bin and take a few calming breaths as you approach the biker's bar. Their engines are already roaring, and some of them, probably the young and new ones, eye you warily as you enter.
You look around the bar and frown, unable to find Benny. You walk further in, pushing through the sea of people and sitting at the head table where Johnny sits with his most important men.
"Hello there. Where is Benny?" You ask them, taking the beer from Johnny. The man raises an eyebrow at you and watches as you take a sip.
"I thought you didn't want to talk to him?"
"I have to. I'm leaving town soon. I'd rather tell that to that ticking bomb." Johnny nods, fully realising what you mean. You see Cockroach get up from the table and go to the phone. You try to listen in on the conversation, but Johnny effectively talks you over and drowns out any conversation the man was having at the bar.
"When are you coming back?" He asks, but you don't answer. You take a sip of beer and tap your finger on the neck of the bottle. "I see. The kid won't be happy, you know that?"
"We are no longer together." You snap back, trying your best to maintain your relatively indifferent attitude. "Besides, after the shit he did today, he only proved that I can't stay here anymore."
"He went for a ride. He'll probably be at the lake. Or on the streets breaking a few traffic laws. You know him."
"Too well." You nod and stand up from the table. Out of the corner of your eye, you see Cockroach exit the bar and get on his bike. You frown and shake your head. They're not your problem anymore. "Tell him I'm looking for him. When you will see him."
"Sure." He agrees and nods. You nod back and turn to leave the bar. You scan the place one last time, knowing full well that you'll probably never set foot in it again.
Your heart clenches as you remember all the times you spent here. Both the good and the bad. Shortly after you broke up with Benny, you cursed this building. You'd rather see it burn down, along with all the Vandals that reminded you of what you'd lost.
You try to hold back the tears that are welling up in your eyes as you involuntarily recall your first meeting with Benny. The pool table is still in the same spot. How easy it would have been for you not to have looked that damned way and not fallen for the charm of those blue irises and the exposed muscles of his arms. How much disappointment and heartbreak you would have avoided if you had never entered that bar. And as much as you despised and hated that place, you loved it and the people in it for a long time and fiercely. And one of them in particular.
But how much more tragedy and sadness could you endure? How long could you live in fear and uncertainty in a relationship that was supposed to bring you only happiness and those good thrills?
Benny wanted to be free. So you will give him that freedom.
"Y/N!" Johnny calls after you before you leave. You sigh and turn to him, raising a questioning eyebrow. "Take care of yourself."
"You too." You nod at him and leave the bar.
You leave everything behind. And you feel like a piece of you is dying in the flames of time and the cry of your tormented heart..
Surprisingly, it doesn't take you long to pack. Nor does it take you long to get off work. Two days later, you're standing in the hallway of your house, ready to hand over the keys to your cousin, who's supposed to be selling it.
You stare at the picture Danny took of you and Benny when you were sitting at one of the biker picnics. Benny and you were leaning against his bike. He had his arm over your shoulder and was staring at you with loving puppy eyes while you smiled at the camera.
You sigh, putting the photo into your wallet and impatiently waiting for your cousin.
Just then, there's a knock on your door. You sigh and open it. You freeze, completely shocked, when you see Benny there.
"I didn't hear your bike."
"I parked down the street. So you don't get scared and run away." He says, still leaning against your door frame.
"I'm not scared of you." You huff indignantly, looking at the scratches on his face. You frown, not remembering him getting any injuries from Mike.
"I had an accident."
"Of course you had." You snort, crossing your arms over your chest. You see his jaw quiver slightly, but he just continues to stare at you with those stupid blue eyes of his, like you're the only girl in the world. "I'm leaving." You inform him, swallowing hard and waiting for his reaction. He drops his gaze to your hands and nods.
"I can see that." He says, nodding at the large travel backpack behind you.
"I won't come back." You inform him, carefully observing his reaction to it. Of course, he doesn't show anything. His face is stony as he looks at you, and his facial muscles don't even move as he doesn't reveal a single emotion to you.
"You won't come back." He repeats, not moving an inch from his spot by your door. You clench your teeth in irritation, to which he just smiles. And oh, that damn smile of his...
"That's it. You can go. You always said you'd be the one to leave. Too bad I had to be the one with the balls to do it." You say angrily, ready for him to turn around and walk to his bike, but all he does is continue to stare at you. You shake your head and push past him when you see your cousin.
You ignore Benny as you sort out the details with your cousin. You grab your backpack and walk him back to his car. You say goodbye to him and watch the car drive away. As you turn to go to the bus stop, you bump into Benny's chest.
"Sorry. I didn't see you." You say, quickly pulling away from him and trying to suppress your blush after your hands were briefly on his chest. The damn thing still had some well-trained muscles.
"Give you a lift?" He asks you seemingly innocently and puts his hands in his pockets. His gaze burns you, making your blush stay on your cheeks a little longer.
"Where are you going?" You ask as you both walk in the same direction. You don't feel like going with him, but you're not going to tell him that yet. You know he'll think of anything to make you get on that fucking bike with him.
"Florida." At those words, you freeze and stand still. You swallow and look at him for a long moment as you remember how you once begged him to go to his cousin in Florida and start a new life there. Then he chose his bike. And you chose yourself.
"To your cousin?" You ask carefully, resuming your walk.
"He hired me at his car workshop." Benny nods, walking glued to your side with his hands clasped behind him.
You feel strangely at ease talking to him. You're out of the habit of it. Of having him so close to you, of feeling the warmth of his body close to yours, of his intoxicating scent, of having his hypnotising irises focused on you and of listening to that raspy voice of his.
You missed him.
"You will have a job?" You ask, shocked. You can't imagine a free spirit like Benny finding a permanent job with set hours. "Well... that's good for you. I guess." You comment as you both walk. Suddenly he steps in front of you and stops. You sigh when you see his bike parked exactly two steps away from you. Fuck, you let that son of a bitch lead you to his bike.
"Are you getting in?" He asks, nodding at his bike. And as much as you want to say yes, you know it'll be bad for both you and him.
You shouldn't be together. Or at least you didn't think so. Even though you loved him so damn much.
"I will buy a train ticket." You politely decline his offer. You expect him to nod silently, get on your bike, and ride off into the sunset forever, but he still stands firmly in front of you, blocking your path.
"Where to?" He asks and looks at you suspiciously, as if he knew perfectly well that you didn't know where you were going yet. You only knew that it was definitely far from Benny.
"You don't need to know." You growl stubbornly, trying to get past him and finally move on.
But Benny won't let you. Before you can register any movement, he moves quickly and takes your hands. He wraps them tightly around his waist, and suddenly you hear a metallic click and something cold and heavy being placed on your forearms. Handcuffs. Bloody handcuffs.
"Benny!!" You growl at him angrily and struggle as he walks towards his bike. "Where the hell did you get handcuffs from?"
"Cockroach." He answers shortly and sits down, making you have to follow his lead. He fucking kidnaps you.
"Benny... let me go!" You scream, trying to punch him in the stomach, but the handcuffs are so short and far enough away from your wrists that all you can do is hold on tight as he prepares to ride.
"Even if it's handcuffed, I'm leaving here with you." He tells you calmly, and you stare at him in disbelief. What the fuck?
"Don't joke! Benny!" Either he ignores your screams (which is most likely) or he doesn't hear them because at that very moment he starts the engine of his Harley.
So all you can do is sit behind him, holding on tight as he drives who knows where. Amazingly, he stops at red lights and doesn't go over the speed limit. It's only when he gets to the highway that he drives a little faster than the speed limit, but not enough to be considered dangerous driving.
You rest your cheek against his back in defeat as you realise there is absolutely no way out of this. Not if you want to stay alive. You can feel him relax a little as he rides forward, and you are not trying to fight with him. You sigh, closing your eyes and allowing yourself to rest behind him for a moment, revelling in the feeling of freedom as you whizzed through the air on his bike.
Fuck, you missed it.
The only break you get is a stop at a motel when the fuel runs out and the cold night starts to set in. Benny rents you a room (which is surprising because you were always the one paying) at the motel and leaves you there while he goes to fill up his Harley.
You think about escaping, but:
1. Benny took away the keys and locked you up there.
2. He made sure to rent a room on the highest floor of this damn building.
3. You were too tired and hungry after the ride to come up with some plan.
That's why you lay on the bed and wait for him to come back. Hopefully with food. It would be nice to eat something before you will kill him.
As if on cue, the keys turn in the door, and Benny steps inside. In his hand he has a large paper bag, which he places on the bed opposite you in an apologetic gesture of sacrifice for his sins. He can go to hell. Him and his damn puppy eyes.
"What is it?"
"Burgers. Took it for you. Your favourite." He says and makes sure he's locked the door. He puts the key in the keyhole and goes to the window.
He looks at his bike and takes a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket. He lights one and looks outside, not sparing you a single glance.
"Where's your jacket?" You ask, seeing as he's not wearing his Vandals' colours. It was weird seeing him in just a T-shirt.
"On a bike in the trunk. I don't know if they'd let me here wearing that."
"You never took it off." You say shocked and raise your eyebrows at him. "You will be cold without it." You notice and take the food out of the bag. You don't eat yet, wondering if you should leave him some, if he even ate anything before he came here.
"I was cold without you." He answers quickly without even thinking much about what he's saying. You see his cheeks redden slightly as he realises he said it out loud. "Eat." He clears his throat and takes a drag on his cigarette. You sigh and start eating. You hum, savouring the delicious food, and you swear you hear him chuckle quietly from his spot by the window. Big bastard.
"Where we going?" You ask him before biting into your burger. You frown as grease leaks onto your fingers. You lick them, unconsciously teasing Benny as he... imagines what your lips wrapped around just as perfectly as they now were wrapped around your fingers. He clears his throat, seeing that youâve caught him staring at you.
"Florida. I want to show you something." You eat in silence, wondering what he wants to show you that makes him literally chain you to himself and drag you out of town.
"And then?" You can't stand it anymore and finally ask, curious about his future plans and how long he actually wants to keep you with him.
"And then you will decide."
"Decide what? Do I want the fur handcuffs or the regular metal ones?" You snap at him, irritated.
Your sharp mockery makes him throw his cigarette out the window, and his gaze lingers there, as if he were ashamed of what he had done. On the other hand, you didn't give him much of an exit or opportunity to talk normally. You wanted to leaveâjust like he had promised so many times that he would do. So why did he stubbornly want to keep you if he had never cared?
Benny wasn't one for words. He was sparing with his thoughts and emotions. And for a while, his actions spoke loud enough of his devotion to you. For a while. Then your honeymoon phase wore off, and you were annoyed that he never verbally confirmed to you what his eyes had told you so many times as he held you close by the fire at night at one of the Vandals meetings.
On this particular night, some famous actress that the guys were crazy about was coming to town. Half of them got on their bikes halfway through the party and wanted Benny to join them in hunting her down and taking a picture with her. They even bribed Danny to go with them and take their stupid pictures.
"Come on, Benny. You're not coming with us? I remember you were the one who hung her poster in the club so you could get a good view of her from the pool table." One of the guys was convincing Benny, who was currently lying on the grass and resting his head on your lap, practically forcing you to comb your hands through his blonde locks.
"I have a much better view here!" He shouts at them, not even turning his head in their direction. His blue eyes never leave your face. You blush a little, ducking your head and closing your eyes as you try to ignore the whistles and teasing from the boys at his response.
A moment later, Benny props himself up on his elbows and steals the most delightful, mind-numbing kiss. You cup his cheek in your hand and let yourself sink into the feeling of his soft lips against yours, letting out a quiet sigh when he tangles his hand in your hair and presses you against the trunk of the tree behind you. You ignore the cheering Vandals put on and completely immerse yourself in your little bubble with Benny.
Everyone had their poison. For Benny, it was cigarettes and his Harley. For you, it was him. And back then it didn't bother you one bit.
"I... if you want to go you can. I won't stop you." Benny mumbles under his breath, pulling you from your thoughts. You shake your head, snorting, and set the bag of food on the nightstand next to your bed.
"Thank you so much that you provide me with my basic human rights!" You growl at him angrily, reminding him about those stupid handcuffs.
"You didn't even want to give me a chance to explain myself to you. And you know perfectly well that I never ask for anything or expect anything in return. I... I didn't see any other way to get to you. And I'm not going to apologise for that."
You roll your eyes at him, irritated. But you can't say you don't see the reasoning behind his actions. But the prospect of being dragged around by him deeply offends your innate feminism.
Seeing that you have nothing to add to the matter, he closes the window. He walks over to you and grabs the blanket off the bed. You frown as he sits down in the armchair, clearly intending to sleep there. And you don't like the fact that even though you had him in the same room, you won't be able to have his arms wrapped around you. Especially since it's so damn cold in this motel.
"Come here. You will get sick by sitting near this window. It is cold outside, and they don't even heat the room." You grumble and make room for him on the bed, hoping that you don't have to tell him the real reason you want him next to you to get him in the same bed with you.
"I will be fine." He speaks carelessly and reaches into his pocket for another cigarette.
"Benjamin Cross." You growl at him, which finally gets his full attention. "Get your fucking ass here." Benny rolls his eyes but obediently stands up. He takes off his shoes and lies down next to you in bed.
He covers you with an extra blanket and leaves an absurd amount of space between you that you honestly hate. But you won't make the first move and throw yourself into his arms. Not after he kidnapped you. But... could it really be considered kidnapping if you partly wanted it and you didn't really have anywhere else to be?
You sigh, tossing and turning in your bed as you try to find a slightly comfortable sleeping position. But it's impossible to fall asleep with Benny so close to you when you are not even able to touch him. Especially when his warmth and scent reach you, assaulting you and every ounce of restraint and self-control you had.
"What's the matter with you?" Benny asks as you toss and turn in frustration once again.
"Nothing."
Benny knows that tone. All too well. So he hesitantly moves closer to you and experimentally places a hand on your waist. When you don't push away from him, he gently pulls you toward him and tightens his hold, pressing his chest against your back. You sigh and press your lips to his forearm, rubbing your nose against the tattooed skin.
Benny doesn't comment on that. That's something you like about him. That even when you do completely absurd things, he doesn't comment on it, doesn't deny it, just stands by you in silence. Just like now.
You take his hand in yours and squeeze it so hard that his rings dig into it. But you don't care. It's nice to finally have him this close.
Benny rests his chin on your shoulder and runs his nose against your temple. His beard gently tickles you, but you do nothing about it. It's been a long time since you've had this feeling of him close to you. You turn in his arms and snuggle into him.
Benny gently strokes your back with his hand, holding you close to him without a word as you revel in his scent. For a moment you forget why you should be mad at him and stay as far away from him as possible. So when his lips fall to your forehead and he presses a long kiss there, you grab his chin and steal the kiss from him.
His full, plump lips feel wonderful against yours and caress you nicely. You moan when you can finally taste his lips on yours again, and you remember how much you've missed this feeling. His hand roams over you, and you let him touch you wherever he wants. Benny, on the other hand, is confused. One moment you're yelling at him and you're angry, and the next you want him close to you and you kiss him like there's no tomorrow. It's a nice change. But Benny is afraid of how long it will last. Of how much longer will you want him? And will you want to leave again?
For now, he had you back in his arms. And he wanted to savour that feeling. And he will give you a goddamn reason to stay.
He cups your cheek in his hand and deepens the kiss. His tongue explores your mouth again, as if learning you all over again, before wrapping his tongue around yours. You sigh as his hand slides teasingly from your cheek, down your neck, over the valley of your breasts, and to the hem of your jeans.
"Benny..." You sigh as his cold fingers touch the skin of your stomach after he unbuttons your jeans TOO slowly.
"Do you want me to stop?" Benny almost chuckles at how fast and furious your head is shaking. Your eyes are squeezed shut, your bottom lip bitten in a desperate attempt to keep from making any sound as he gently brushes his fingers over your folds. The motel walls were thin after all. "Open your eyes for me, my little rascal, and say the words. After this, there will be no turning back."
You don't even think about turning back. You don't think about leaving him. You only think about how wonderful it is to have him by your side again, how wonderful his hands feel on you, and how much you want to kiss his stupid mouth until you both have enough breath. And that's exactly what you do.
With that form of agreement from you, his fingers gently delve into your folds, exploring previously familiar territory and teasing you unintentionally as he tries to appreciate every little second he has with you.
Sex with Benny was like that. Unique, intense, a long marathon. Because, as he said, you never know when it's the last time. Although you always prayed that it would never be the last time and that he and you will both live to experience another of your hot sessions.
For now, God listened to a sinner like you...
You almost scream as he digs his long fingers into you up to his knuckles. His rings rub against the entrance of your cunt, the even colder than his fingers metal is making you shiver. Benny kisses and nibbles your neck, leaving a trail of hickies from your lips to your collarbone.
His fingers slide in and out, pushing against that sweet spot inside you that makes you scream his name. His rings push through and enter your vagina, and you can see them glistening with your arousal. And it's fucking hot. As hot as Benny's hard manhood pressing against your thigh.
You dig your nails into his neck and moan into his ear as his thumbs is pressing your swollen clit, working with all his might to bring you to the edge of your orgasm.
You bite your lip, trying to muffle your moans and cries of pleasure so everyone in the motel doesn't hear you, but Benny won't have any of that. He kisses you hungrily and pulls his hand away from you completely. You gasp, lifting your hips and seeking his hand, but he doesn't resume his ministrations until a soft moan escapes your kiss-swollen lips.
"Such a good little desprate girl for me. You take my fingers so damn well now, wrapping your tight unused walls around them, and before when you were scandalously empty, you were a nasty little brat. I shouldn't reward you for running away from me, you know, my sweetest?" He mumbles in your ear with his hoarse voice, still refusing you the touch of his sinfully long fingers.
The tears in your eyes fall freely onto the pillow as you try to gather the last remnants of logical thought to somehow prove yourself to him, because you know you won't come if you just grind against him desperately in the hopes that he'll finally give you more.
"Please Benny⌠I⌠oh⌠I won't leave⌠I won't leave.."
You tangle your hand in his hair and tug on it, to which he lets out a soft growl from his plump lips. In punishment, he gently nips your collarbone, adding another hickey to the collection, as he thankfully pushes his fingers deep into your velvety wet and eager walls again and tries to bring you immense pleasure.
And it doesn't take him very long. A few thrusts of his fingers, kisses scattered across your neck, collarbone, and cleavage, and you're falling apart beneath him. Your brain is a useless mush as you come from the mere ministrations of his fingers and the dirty words he whispers in your ear. You're drunk on Benny, on the feel of his fingers inside you, his weight on you, and the burning marks his lips leave on your skin.
You lick your lips in anticipation for him to strip down so you can get to the main part, but he just flops onto his side next to you, ignoring the obvious hard soreness in his pants, and wraps his arms around you tightly, pulling you against his chest.
"I missed it." He whispers, kissing your knuckles. You feel his grip on your hand tighten, but he doesnât move to taste you on his fingers. He simply places your joined hands on his chest, his other hand wrapping around your waist and pulling you closer.
You know this is the closest you'll get to an admission of guilt and an apology from him. So you accept it and gently snuggle into him.
"Good night, Benny." You whisper into his neck. He shivers.
Goosebumps appear on the skin of his neck, but he doesn't move. You just lie there, cuddled up to each other, and he presses a long kiss to the top of your head. You feel fulfilled, satisfied, happy,
He lies under you politely, ignoring his discomfort, and you know that this is some kind of sick punishment for himself. Yet you do nothing to stop it. He has to realise that he can't just take you on his bike and take you to hell knows where. He needs to realise that he can't be such a free spirit anymore if he really wants you. That he can't keep doing the shit he did with the Vandals.
Even if you're happy with how things turned out after he dargged you out of the town.
And when the next day he takes you to Florida and shows you the old family home that he inherited from his deceased father and says that he would love to burn this place down in the past, but now he wants to keep it and renovate it for you if you agree to stay with him as his wife, you know you can't stay mad at him forever. Especially not after he slides one of his rings off his finger and places it securely on yours in a silent promise and understanding between you.
You whether gonna be his wife or gonna smash up his bike, (you haven't decided yet) but in the end you gonna finally make him yours and only yours.
After all, he didn't get you back just for you to leave him again. You will stay with each other until the very end. Even if it would destroy you.

The poster is huge, takes up most of the board in the club announcing new events. Itâs surprisingly simple for something so large.
âOne Night Onlyâ accompanied by a picture of Steve Harrington, recently out queer pop icon, and a date and time.
Tonight is the one night only.
Eddie stares at it, kind of wishes he didnât feel like sobbing, and then books it out of the club.
If heâs gonna make it across town before Steveâs show is done, heâs gotta hope for the least amount of traffic heâs ever seen and a lot of luck. Maybe, if heâs really lucky, the show was delayed enough that heâs still on stage singing.
He manages to find an Uber only a block away, offers them a 50% tip if they can get him to the arena in less than five minutes, and leans his head back against the seat.
~~~~
Four years ago, when Steve followed Eddie and his band to Chicago, neither of them expected much to happen. Corroded Coffin was small town good, but they quickly found that they werenât quite what record labels were looking for.
A small indie label from San Francisco was interested, though.
So they packed up and moved to California, and to celebrate the first recording session, they went to a karaoke bar and all took turns singing songs that youâd never expect them to.
Steve took a turn singing a Harry Styles song and it was game over.
The whole bar went silent until he was done, and then it was pandemonium as people rushed him as he got off the stage, telling him he should be famous, and that he had the voice of an angel, and that he should try to sign a record deal.
And Eddie knew he could sing; heâd heard him in the shower and the car plenty.
There was just something about seeing him on stage and knowing that Steve was meant for more that really cut into his heart and made him bleed out on that bar floor.
It was the beginning of the end for them that night.
Eddie pushed him away. Steve stopped fighting it.
Steve signed with a huge company out of New York and moved before Eddie even realized he ruined everything.
He hasnât spoken to him since, not even the one time Dustin had to have surgery and requested everyone be back in Hawkins in case something went wrong. He was being dramatic about leg splints, but they did it anyway.
Eddie caught one glimpse of Steve walking out of the Henderson home the night that Dustin got to leave the hospital, but he didnât stop him.
Corroded Coffin is big enough to do festival circuits, even playing on the main stage for some of them.
Steve Harrington is big enough to go to Grammy parties and duet with Sabrina Carpenter.
And Eddie is stupid enough to think he can get backstage to apologize to him for being dumb enough to let him walk away.
~~~~
When he arrives at the arena, heâs told he needs a ticket to enter. This is a fact he knew before getting here, but one he chose to ignore in hopes that he might be able to bribe someone with his romantic story.
Unfortunately, the middle aged man who reminds him a lot of Wayne couldnât care less about his need to tell Steve he loves him.
âYou and the 20,000 others in the audience, bud,â the man says. âNo ticket, no entrance.â
âOkay, I know you probably hear this often, but I swear he knows me. Heâd let me in,â Eddie explains, but the guy is somehow even less impressed. âOh! Wait. I have proof.â
Eddie pulls out his phone and opens his photos. The album named âStevie âĽď¸â is still in his favorites, even though Robin made him promise heâd delete it after the last time she visited. He may have promised he would, but he never said when.
Itâs hundreds of photos of them together, mostly selfies, personal pictures they took on dates or in bed or on their road trip or-
âI told you to delete those.â
Eddie spins around at Robinâs voice. Sheâs standing near the set of doors at the end of the long line of doors, two security guards flanking her.
âAnd I will. Eventually.â Eddie walks towards her, ignoring the man telling him he needs to leave.
âWhat are you doing here?â She asks even though she has to know.
Sheâs his friend even though sheâs Steveâs platonic soulmate. She isnât being mean on purpose. Sheâs just being protective of both of them.
âRobinâŚâ he starts.
She holds up a hand. âIf I take you backstage, will this be a one night only thing or a start to forever thing? Because honestly, I donât think he can take seeing you if itâs only for you to leave right after. Heâs barely-â She cuts herself off, eyes widening.
âHeâs what?â Eddie pushes, needing to know what she was gonna say.
She sighs. He knew heâd get her to give in easily.
âHeâs barely holding it together as it is,â she admits. âI had to bribe him to get on stage tonight.â
âBribe him? For this show?â
âAnd the last dozen or so. Heâs tired. He-â She sighs again, heavier. âHe misses you.â
âIf he misses me, then he should call. Or text. Send a carrier pigeon.â Eddie doesnât mean for the words to bite, but he canât help the way he feels and he knows heâs safe with Robin. She wonât take it personally or let him stew in it for too long. âItâs not like he doesnât have access to me if he really wants it.â
âEddie. You made it very clear you didnât want to hear from him ever again.â
âI made it very clear that I loved him too much to hold him back. He was the one who pushed it to this,â Eddie tries.
He doesnât succeed. Robin is shaking her head, laughing with disbelief.
âYou two are made for each other. Iâll bring you backstage, but if I see a single tear shed in anything other than happiness, Iâm calling Jeff and telling on you.â
Eddie canât help but laugh. Calling Jeff isnât quite the threat it used to be, not since Jeff got himself a very serious girlfriend who keeps him busy. Even if it was, Robin knows Jeffâs just gonna nod along, give Eddie a sad look, and move on.
He follows Robin through the door she came through, waving at the guard who was giving him a hard timeâ âheâs just doing his job, Eddieâ â and feels his throat catch on his next breath when he can hear the beat of the music.
Steveâs pop rock sound isnât necessarily Eddieâs favorite type of music, but he did stay up until midnight for the release of his debut album. Itâs Steve. Whatâs he gonna do? Not listen to it?
His voice is just this side of raspy, like thereâs a scratch of his throat when he hits the lower register his voice will allow. He almost sounds like when Eddie would-
âAlright. Heâs got two songs left and an encore. Encore is usually just one song, but this is a special night so he may do a bonus from his new album. Donât touch anything,â Robin sends him into the green room, waving off the security person who is standing at the door. âDonât make me regret letting you in here. And donât hurt yourself.â
âJesus, Robbie, Iâm not a child. Iâm not gonna hurt myself-â
âI didnât mean physically.â She gives him a sad look. âI care about you, too.â
Eddieâs shoulders fall as he breathes out. He didnât realize how tense heâd been. Robin hugs him and moves to the door.
âIâll make sure you guys have some privacy for a bit, but we do have a tight schedule. Securityâs only here while the crew packs up,â she explains. Eddie nods. He knows the drill. He may not be an international pop star, but he deals with the ins and outs of venues often enough.
Robin leaves and the only sound is the bass thumping of Steveâs last song. Eddie looks around at how bare the room is. Usually, Corroded Coffin has to share a green room with a few other bands unless they pull off headlining the main stage. Those rooms are usually cluttered, crews and musicians constantly coming and going, leaving trash and guitar picks behind. The only thing in this room that would hint at Steve using it is a bag of half-eaten white cheddar popcorn on the table next to an empty water bottle and a mug of what looks like green tea.
Steveâs a big enough star to make absurd requests for backstage, but itâs clear he doesnât. Eddie isnât surprised. Steveâs never really been one to ask for things that would benefit him.
He hears the screaming, knows Steveâs just left the stage. Heâs probably standing nearby, hiding behind curtains or stacks of speakers, maybe even in plain sight.
âWait!â Robinâs voice is right outside the door.
The door opens.
Steveâs there, breathless, sweaty, hot as hell.
âSteve, you still have a song,â another woman in khakis and a polo shirt is rushing up to him, waving a clipboard in his face.
âEddie.â Steveâs voice is rough when he speaks. Eddie can tell itâs more from emotion than the nearly two hour set list he just performed.
âSteve.â Eddie is waiting for Steve to move, for anyone to move. He canât.
âSteve, you need to go back onstage.â
Eddie has his arms full of Steve before anyone can respond to the woman just trying to do her job. She looks like sheâs a tech manager, but usually they wear all black, and Eddie doesnât know all there is to know about an international superstar performing a concert even though he does know all there is to know about Steve.
He knows that he prefers earl gray tea with real sugar, not the green tea with honey thatâs sitting on the coffee table. He knows that his favorite treats are the mini Kit Katsâ ânot the regular ones, they taste different, I swear!â-- not popcorn that gets stuck in his teeth for hours. He knows that he likes making places feel like home no matter how temporary heâs there, and thereâs not a single item in this room that makes it feel lived in.
The woman seems to give up on getting Steve back on stage, and heâs pretty sure he has Robin to thank for it.
He has Steve in his arms for the first time in way too long. He isnât wasting a second of it thinking about anyone else.
Steveâs sweat is soaking through Eddieâs shirt already, but he doesnât really care. He used to love having Steveâs sweat on him; It meant he was doing something right.
He knows a reunion isnât this easy, and any second now, Steveâs gonna pull away and yell at him, and theyâll fight and Eddie will let it happen because he deserves it and-
âI didnât think youâd come,â Steve sobs against his neck, breath tickling his skin as his lips brush against him in an almost-kiss.
Suddenly, Eddie knows that Steve planned this. This whole sold out, one night only show was only so Eddie would come see him.
Eddie should be pissed.
Steve could have just fucking called him. Texted him. Sent a carrier pigeon!
But heâs got Steve in his arms and itâs always been pretty hard to be pissed at him when heâs pressed perfectly against his chest.
Robin is clearing the room and cursing Steve for making her clean up his messes, but Eddie can hear the fondness in her voice. She wouldnât bother giving them time alone together if she didnât want them to have it.
âRobin said I shouldnât do it. She said you wouldnât show.â Tears are falling from Steveâs eyes on Eddie's shirt. âI swore you would. She thought I was crazy.â
âYou are crazy,â Eddie laughs, squeezing his arms to pull him in tighter. âPlanning something this big in the hopes that Iâd come to a pop concert is fucking insane, Stevie.â
âBut you did.â Steve leans back and looks at him, watery smile enough to make Eddie feel like he could melt into the floor. âI knew you would.â
Eddie wants to kiss him, wants to ignore everything that went wrong and everything they need to talk about, wants to take Steve apart in this room and make it feel like home because Steve didnât do that on his own. He doesnât think heâs made any place feel like home in a long time.
âYou put a lot of faith in a guy who let you go,â Eddie whispers.
âYou showed up for a guy who left,â Steve says back.
âYou only left because I pushed you away,â Eddie argues.
âYou only pushed me away because you thought it was best for me,â Steve raises a brow, challenging him to keep going.
Eddie knows Steve has a response for everything, though. Heâll keep putting blame on himself the same way Eddie keeps putting it on himself, and theyâll go round and round and waste precious time that they could be doing other things. Instead of pushing, Eddie sighs and lets his shoulders drop.
âIâm sorry,â he says instead of arguing.
âIâm sorry, too,â Steve relaxes in his arms.
âWe still have to talk, Stevie,â Eddie reminds him as he leans in, feels Steveâs breath against his lips.
âWe will,â Steve barely gets out before their lips crash together, bruising and needy.
Thereâs a lot that Eddie missed about Steve. Heâs spent countless hours harping over everything he messed up to himself, to Robin, to Wayne, to the band. Steve was forever going to be the one that got away.
âCan weâŚâ Steve gasps against his mouth, hands grasping at every inch of Eddie that they can.
âWhat do you need?â Eddie wraps his fingers around Steveâs wrists to still him, to make him focus on what he wants.
âJust need you.â
Itâs a cop out and they both know it, but Eddieâs fine with it tonight. If he has to be the one to take charge and assume what Steve wants, then he will. For tonight, he can give Steve what he wants to, and Steve will take it.
Itâs a little anticlimactic when they come barely five minutes later. They donât even get a chance to properly remove any clothing before theyâre making a mess between them, moaning as if they canât be heard.
As they come down, and Eddie manages to find a rag that may or may not have been used for other things already, Eddie sees Steve wipe his eyes.
He stops what heâs doing and drops the rag on the floor, pulling Steve close again.
âWhatâs wrong?â He asks because he canât let Steve leave him again. Not this time.
âI just donât want this to be one night only,â Steve cries.
âIt wonât be, sweetheart,â Eddie assures him, brushing the fresh tears away as they fall. âWeâre gonna figure out how to make it work. The band doesnât have anything for the next few weeks, so weâve got time, okay?â
âBut I have to leave tomorrow. I have a GQ interview in London,â Steve pouts.
Eddie tries not to be distracted by his bitten-red lips, but theyâre just soâŚbiteable.
âI could go to London,â Eddie offers, only slightly joking.
Steveâs eyes light up. âYou can?â
âI mean, I can definitely blow some of my savings to follow you around for a bit,â Eddie shrugs.
âAs if Iâd let you pay.â Steveâs beaming at him. âYou really wanna come with me? Even though people will start spreading rumors and itâll ruin your metal band image?â
âBaby, Iâll stand on that stage right now and scream to everyone who will listen that Iâm yours.â
Thereâs still time to do that, too. Even though it canât have been more than 20 minutes since Steve left the stage, he has no doubt that there are plenty of stragglers in the arena hoping for Steve to still come out and perform his encore.
âSome fans are kind of-â
âCrazy?â Steve nods. âThatâs because youâre perfect. But they canât have you, right? Not like I can.â
âNo. Nobody gets to have me like you do.â
If Robin wasnât banging on the door to warn them they only had five minutes, Eddie would be trying for another round. Maybe this time, heâd get his mouth on Steve instead of just his hand.
âI guess we should get to the car before fans figure out Iâm still here,â Steve suggests. âAnd before Robin kills us both.â
âImagine that news story,â Eddie laughs. âBest friend and manager of pop icon Steve Harrington charged with double homicide after seeing more dicks than sheâs ever seen in her life.â
âBold of you to assume she hasnât seen mine,â Steve laughs as he pulls away. When he sees Eddieâs shocked face, he pats his cheek. âI sleep naked, babe. You knew that.â
Eddieâs face goes back to normal quickly. âStill? I thought that was just so I would-â
âIâm coming in!â Robin shouts as she opens the door. Steve turns away to finish buttoning his pants, but Eddieâs soft dick is right out in the open.
âSeriously?â Robin groans.
Eddie finishes making himself presentable and smirks. âYouâve seen what heâs got. You canât blame me.â
âI can and I will. Carâs already surrounded, so. Hope youâre good with a hard launch.â
Eddie looks at Steve to check in. Steve gives him a nod.
âBlast off, I guess.â

Of course it's fucking THESEUS
okay. i havent shut up about the greek myth aspects of Simon's story and i wont stop now. At first it was a statue of Persephone in the garden, with it's head replaced to be Betty, giving the implication that Betty is the Persephone to Simon's Hades, and it was Simon's status as an antiquarian. and now we've gotten Simon being a huge nerd and bringing up Theseus completely unprompted (so real)
a bit of context in case you need it, Theseus was one of those greek "legendary Heroes" (Achilles, Heracles, etc.), and previously King of Athens, but had managed to dodge most bad things that happen to Greek heroes. he was just stupid and i guess they took pity on him.
The Ship of Theseus or "Theseus' Paradox", which I'd imagine all of tumblr knows by now, but if you don't, is the question on whether if a ship, specifically Theseus', is still the same ship after having all of its parts replaced exactly. To me this makes for such an obvious connection to Simon. Simon's story factors around identity, first and foremost. (yknow. "I Remember You" and all that?) The concept of not knowing what you are fundamentally was originally Ice King's thing, as his previous life as Simon was essentially history. But now that's being brought to Simon. and Simon has the lucidity to process what that means for him.
#on a looser connection#people telling simon to look forward.#whats with you looking back simon?#is there a lover disappearing?#anyway hahaahahh#adventure time spoilers#adventure time#fionna & cake spoilers#fionna and cake#do you think we'll get an odysseus connection soon? with the whole âsmart guy misses his wifeâ thing?#or an icarus connection?#is him putting the crown on the same as flying too close to the sun?#also i'd totally mention simon and theseus both having a burning love life but âburningâ means two totally different things for both of the#kind of#both of them have an ex that turns into a divine being because of a being of madness#i guess they have that in common?#somewhat?#anyway im gonna read up on heracles and see if i can associate any of it with finn.

It was never a mystery, to Steve, how they got together. How they worked together.
The only mystery is how he managed to let him goâto lose him in a way Steve hadnât understood until Eddie. Because Nancy was great, she was fantastic, Steve was in love. He doesnât doubt that. But it never felt like it did with Eddie: low lights in the club, hands on each otherâs bodies, open-mouth kisses that really was nothing more than them panting into each otherâs mouthsâ
Stumbling into the bathroom, or into either of their bedrooms, hands in hair and under shirts and unbuckling beltsâ
Sleepy, slow morning kisses. Breakfast. Holidays.
How did it end?
Steve thinks, remembers fists clenched at sides, red faces, stiff shoulders.
Remembers shouted words, cold shoulders, slammed doors.
Remembers the key left on the kitchen counter.
That had done it, he remembers, he had called Robin, already sobbing, and she was on her bike and halfway there practically before she had hung up the phone. Sheâd held him as he fell apart on the kitchen tiles.
Then again, when he went to go to bed. Saw the two pillows. Threw one off; it hit the wall, slid down. Had to change the sheets; they smelled too much like him.
It took him a long timeâa really long timeâto get to the point heâd be okay on his own for more than a couple hours, to the point he could go out to clubs again. Not the same ones heâd gone to, never those, but⌠he moved on. Kind of.
He knew, and Robin knew, that part of him, at least, would always love Eddie.
Itâs why when theyâre in a clubâa new one they had just found, okay music but better drinks and prospectsâand Steve grabs her arm, she looks the direction he is.
He feels like heâs swallowing sandpaper. âHis hair is longer.â
âIt is.â She pries his fingers off, just so heâs not bruising her anymore, but holds his hand. âWhat do you want to do about it?â
âI donât know,â he mutters, watches the way Eddie prowls through the crowd, smirking at people, but still definitely on his way to the bar.
The bar. âIâm gonna get us more drinks,â he says. They both ignore the fact that theyâve barely touched their current glasses.
âLet me know if you need backup.â
âWill do.â He looks at her, for the first time since seeing him, and smiles. âLove you, Robbie.â
She rolls her eyes, but smiles. âLove you, dingus. Go get your man back.â
Steve makes it to the bar before Eddie, asks for whatever is on tap. Looks away at the wall. Canât watch him walk up.Â
âLong Island,â he hears directly beside him, and turns to see Eddie turning to see Steve.
He takes a breath. âEddie.â
Eddie looks⌠he looks good, because he always does, but he looks tired, maybe a little thinner. Not⌠not good, not happy like he was. He swallows. âSteve.â
The bartender hands over their drinks, and Steve takes a sip only to cough. âSorry, fuck,â he mutters, finally looking at the glass in his hand. Heâs got the Long Island, and Eddieâs got his beer.
Eddieâs watching him with an interesting little smile. âTrade?â
âTrade,â Steve agrees, nodding. He coughs again. âGod, how do you like that?â
Eddie snickers, pulls a lock of hair over his face. Steve wishes he wouldnât.
Miraculously, they keep talking. Theyâre never searching for the next word to make the silence go away because there is no silence.
Eventually Robin comes up to him, pulls him into a hug. âImma go home with that girl,â she murmurs, pointing behind her. A cute, preppy-looking blonde smiles nervously at Steve. He smiles at her, then back to Robin. âOf course. Call the house, give me the address.â He kisses her forehead. âHave fun.â
âOh, I will,â she grins, then turns to look at Eddie, eyes narrowed.
Eddie gulps. She grins, scary as anything, and whispers something in his ear that has him paling. âYuh-yep. Yeah. Got it. Thanks Robin.â
Steve grimaces when she walks away. âWhat did she say?â
Eddie looks at him for a long minute. âSomething Iâve known for a while now,â he eventually murmurs.Â
It was inevitable, really, that they would end up back here, hands in hair and under shirts, stumbling into Steveâs apartment, panting into each otherâs mouths, trying to undo buckles by memory because the worst thing in the world right now would be to stop kissing.
âGod, Steve,â Eddie gasps, pulling him down the hall. âCâmon- câmon, please, need you, need you-â
âYeah,â Steve answers against his mouth, just as affected. Heâs got his own pants halfway off, thinking about his shirt next, thinking about the lube in the drawer that hasnât gotten as much action as it used to, and suddenly he aches for it. âNeed you inside me,â he mutters, kissing down Eddieâs neck, stopping at a place behind his ear that he knows from experience makes Eddieâs knees weak.
âFuck,â Eddie chokes out. âYeah, yeah, câmon, câmon baby, lemme in you- lubeâs in the drawer?â
Steve opens the drawer in answer, roots around until his fingers close on the bottle. Pushes it into Eddieâs hand, pushes him away so Steve can get naked.
Eddieâs eyes rake along his body. He drops his own pants just as fast, limbs flying as he strips out of his shirt too, clambering onto the bed beside Steveâs hip, eyes wide and fingers shaking as he lubes up.
Itâs after, when everythingâs cooling and drying and becoming itchy, that Eddieâs breath wobbles. âI shouldnât,â he mutters into Steveâs shoulder. âShouldnât say anything. But hell if I donât miss you like crazy.â
Steve closes his eyes, tries to keep the tears at bay. âYouâre drunk.â
âI had less than one drink.â
The tears win. âWe broke up for a reason,â he whispers. âDidnât we?â
âI was scared,â Eddie says.
âAnd youâre not now?â
âOnly of losing you.â
Steve sobs, canât help it, but he feels Eddieâs hot tears on his neck, too, and that somehow makes it better.
Itâs the next morning, after slow, sleepy kisses and breakfast, that Steve sighs. âI never stopped loving you. I donât think I can.â
âI donât think I can, either.â
Steve slowly turns to look at him. âSo what does that make us?â
Eddie shakes his head. âI donât know. All I know is it makes me yours.â
âYours,â Steve parrots, daring to curl his fingers over Eddieâs, breath hitching when he holds on just as tight. âThat sounds pretty damn good to me.â

I may not like FinwĂŤ but he deserves to be so angry that Thingol that he'd genuinely be willing to commit a kinslaying himself.
Honestly, I do think FinwĂŤ x ElwĂŤ is cute. It really is, but notice how I said ElwĂŤ, who wanted to go to Valinor simply because FinwĂŤ wanted to go there, even if the reason FinwĂŤ wanted to go there was for MĂriel (which is painfully ironic, both FinwĂŤ & ElwĂŤ ended up betraying the person they were initially so devoted to).
Thingol on the other hand clearly isn't ElwĂŤ anymore. He rejected that name, he rejected FinwĂŤ's family (which might as well have been a rejection of FinwĂŤ himself since he died loving MĂriel & her descendants more than he loved his own life), and stole the very thing FinwĂŤ's favorite son made that FinwĂŤ died trying to protect.
He can and WOULD be enraged over how Thingol treated the FĂŤanorians even before C&C stirred shit up.
FinwĂŤ feeling so betrayed by ElwĂŤ and despising the person Thingol became so much that he beats Thingol to a bloody pulp and goes to give FĂŤanor a comforting hug while his hands are still covered in Thingol's blood... is something helps me sleep at night.
#I am in fact going to sleep RN... Anyways:#Finwe was a bad father but he still ended up loving Feanor so much that anyone who was Feanor's enemy would become his own enemy as well#including former friends & even family. Yes I DO think he disowned Galadriel & Earendil (not that they'd care). You can't change my mind!#His love for Feanor is his ONLY redeeming character trait so PLEASE let him kill his ex bf for his (fully grown) baby boy.#Finwe x Elwe: lovers to enemies >>> getting back together (Finwe should NEVER pick ANYONE over Feanor again... let alone dirty Thingol)#finwe#elwe#elu thingol#thingol#feanor#feanorians#sons of feanor#silmarillion#the silmarillion

so no one was going to tell me if i got literally one episode further tenax drops that heâs the one who saved scorpus from his momâs pimp AND that heâs intimately familiar with scorpusâ dick when he was younger. guys. guys.
#thinking about an INSANE divorce fic. as a follow-up to the 30k canon-compliant backstory i have not written#(really it could be an au of that because like. am i sentimental and would i want them to get emotionally divorced NO but i will get into#the variants of this later i have to tell you about them ACTUALLY divorced first before i get into the hot divorcee energy of it all)#where they fucked around when they were younger and then broke up because. yeah tenax can dream but scorpus needs certainty he is what he#is he wants attention and dignity and when blue offers for him he goes and we donât need to know what the massive fight was but we DO need#to know that they stopped fucking and maybe they stopped talking too but now theyâre Colleagues. putting the âbecause i canâ moment#into a WHOLE different light bc itâs very much a âyou no longer have a say in who I get to fuck because itâs not YOU. because weâre notâ#and thus we get an exes-to-lovers arc I still know you the best and yes I SEE the scorpus xenon andria potential & once again I am saying:#put that in a box we canât talk about that right now I see it but thatâs not what weâre here for. anyway I was TRYING to say the âI know u#best of anyoneâ of it all and if you think I have stopped thinking about tenax goading scorpus & talking about his dick for a single second#I have not. I REALLY have not because that is top tier blatant manipulation to be like ohhhh poor baby youâre so old and rotting I can just#get a new chariot driver I donât even really want you anyway đ and scorpus KNOWS Itâs bait however. heâs gotta get his attention back.#anyway they are ugly divorced and itâs very slow burn but I know exactly how you taste & what buttons to press & how to grip your shoulders#in an argument until they fuck nasty on all of their riches or however this thing ends. not well for anyone but I WILL be getting them back#together. the other fun little big divorced energy thoughts i had were very much âdivorced and arguing but itâs foreplay to threaten to#leave each otherâ so they can have hot aggressive mean sex because they get off on arguing with each other. everybody in the stables starts#to see them arguing about chariot design & the brothers are scared theyâre gonna kill each other & then suddenly scorpus is tongue-fucking#Tenaxâs throat with a fist still in his hair and tenax has a hand pinning him back against the post by the throat and thatâs all they see#before everybody clears the FUCK out. this is a regular occurrence at all times in all arguments itâs so fun I love the dynamic#OHHHH AND ITâS AN OUTSIDER POV FIC i said the brothers really i meant elia but also now that i say that. could be a fun five + 1 of#everyone watching them threaten to kill each other and then yâknow. la petit mort. ALSO i know i see the calla/tenax too we canât talk abt#that put it in the box with the chariot drivers we can have one (1) thing at a time. the calla note is because i want a calla pov of them#where sheâs just like âfreaks. right in front of my salad?â and does not give a fuck at all. top tier. anyway. andria/elia/calla/domitian#(Domitian seeing them petition him would be so fun because he wants to puppet master everything heâd want to know SO BAD.) the 5th one idk#because I donât have any idea about the third brother yet but maybe Tenax catching scorpus in a brothel again? and the +1 is their POV ofc.#(anyway for myself: the vibes i want here are geno/anna cat and mouse follow/unfollow divorce and win her back rumors)#scorpus/tenax#those about to die#scorpus#tenax

The Revenant of You
Summary: At Dustin and Eleven's wedding, Eddie and Steve reunite after 10 years.
This fully finished and will be released weekly. There are 5 total chapters. AO3 link at the bottom.
Chapter 1: Steve
Steve and Abby stood hand in hand outside the church. His little girl was so excited to see her uncle Dusty again and watch him marry Auntie El, but Steve wasnât ready to see Eddie again. He couldnât do this.
He scoffed at himself. It had been nearly ten years since they last saw each other on the night of their break up. At the time, Corroded Coffin was on their first album tour, Steve was with them, and he watched as Eddieâs dreams of being a Rock Star became a reality. He was so proud of him, but he was resentful too. Why should Eddie get everything he ever wanted when Steve didnât? Never mind that Steve wasnât sure exactly what he wanted; it was about the principle.
But more than that, Steve was scared. Terrified Eddie would realize he could do much better than Steve and heâd break his heart. So, he resolved to break Eddieâs first. He picked a fight out of nowhere, screamed about how he hated being on the road, he wanted kids, and Eddie would never be able to give him that.
What Steve hadnât anticipated was the Munson resolve. Eddie offered to quit. Heâd quit the band, settle down where ever Steve wanted, and theyâd have some little nuggets: adopted or surrogate, it didnât matter as long as they stayed together, stayed married. Said he loved Steve and his life with him was more important than his dreams.
Eddie was so genuine, Steve knew he would have quit then and there, but he couldnât live with the guilt. So he told the biggest lie of his life, your love isnât enough, youâll always be too much.
Eddieâs biggest insecurity, Steveâs ticket out. Or so he thought; but, here he was ten years later, nursing the bruised ego from his second divorce, and the broken heart from his first husband.
He shook his head, ducked into the last row, and did his best to hide. Normally, heâd be in the front row but Eddie was the best man. Steve tried not to be bitter about it. Heâd known Dustin the longest...but thanks to Abbyâs mom, his relationships with his friends werenât as strong as they used to be; he didnât even remember the last time he spoke to Robin.
As the ceremony started, he forgot about his worries as he watched Dustin take his place at the front of the church. He looked so handsome in his all black suit, even if he had a goofy pink bow tie on. But as the procession made their way down the aisle, the pink made sense. All the bridesmaids were in soft pink dresses with black accents, all the groomsmen in black suits, with pink accents. Different than Dustinâs like they all were allowed to choose what the accent was.
The maid of honor was of course Max, she was arm in arm with Eddie. Steve tried to keep his eyes on Max, but they drifted. Just to see what his accent was he whispered to himself. Pink ribbons were braided into his long hair, little bows at the end. It kind of pissed Steve off that he didnât look stupid with his hair like that; he looked really cute.
Even though Steve was the reason they werenât together anymore, he still hated Eddie a little, he wanted him to be miserable like him. Which was so shitty of him but if there was one thing Steve was still trying to unlearn, it was his level of pettiness.
Even as everyone stood to see the bride, his gaze never left Eddieâs form. Abby yanked on his arm finally pulling him away and toward Eleven. Her dress was a blush princess gown, she carried black daisies, her only jewelry was her smile. Her arm was wrapped in Hopperâs as they moved, her eyes never looked away from Dustin and his never moved from her.
He teared up as Dustin wiped his face. He remembered that feeling. Seeing the love of your life walk to you, looking as beautiful as ever. His first wedding was full of that heart stopping, lung filling, joy. He couldnât help but look at Eddie again, hoping their eyes would meet. But no, he watched El with a sad smile, a few stray tears sliding down his face. Steve selfishly hoped he was thinking the same thing.
The reception was...exactly what he would expect from Eleven. So many candles and colors. Flowers everywhere, but there were touches of Dustin too. D20 candle holders were the centerpieces and the food was Dustinâs favorite: grilled salmon with a honey glaze.
Steve tried to engage with the people at his assigned table, but he wasnât very enthused. The only people from Hawkins who werenât in the bridal party were the parents and siblings of the kids-now adults- of the party. Somehow, exchanging parenting tips with Karen Wheeler was not on his wedding agenda. By the time dinner ended, Steve was ready to drown himself in champagne.
Then the speeches started...and he willed lighting to strike him. Maxâs speech was beautiful. Anecdotes about their childhood spent together, omitting the monster stuff but Steve knew the truth. âI hope you and Dustin live a long and happy life together Ellie. And remember, if he breaks your heart, Iâll break his bones.â The room laughed but those who knew her, knew Max would do it.
Eddie was up next, Steve slumped down more in his chair. âDustin I hope you know how lucky you areâ he began with a chuckle. âEl is a great woman and donât forget she has super powers.â Those in the know laughed as Eddie continued his speech. A few stories of how they met and Dustinâs more...creative experiments. He looked at the crowd and Steve knew the moment he saw him, his eyes widened before he schooled his expression.
âSeeing you at the alter tonight, promising to love each other until the end, I knew you meant it. Dustin, El, you two made me believe in love again. Seeing your relationship change from friendship to full blown love has been...amazing. The two of you have that old soul type of love.â He glanced at Steve again.
âNot to get too into it but I went through a divorce some years ago that made me bitter.â Eddie said, his eyes never leaving Steve. âI hated my ex, I hated love, I hated...myself.â Steve gasped. âBut Dustin,â he turned to the groom. âYou wouldnât let me wallow. You practically dragged me by the ear out of my misery. You said âdonât let the heartbreak drag you down. Channel that shit!ââ Dustin chuckled and smiled big.
âYou played the most metal concert once, you can write the most metal album nowâ Dustin yelled, likely repeating what heâd said those years ago, causing the party to groan good-naturedly.
âYouâre the reason for our third album, man.â Eddieâs band cheered from a table over, startling Steve. He hadnât realized they were here. He saw Wayne sitting at their table and felt his heart twinge. He was older now, but he still looked good. Like he could kick Steveâs ass.
Eddie turned to El next. âEl, you said to me, âboys lie. Men love their partners.â Words of wisdom given to you by Max and Joyce, that you gave to me.â He grabbed his champagne flute and held it in toast. âThanks to you two, I could forgive my ex, I could forgive myself, and I was able to get back out there and find love again.â
Steve heart dropped, though as he glanced at Abby, he supposed he shouldnât be upset that Eddie moved on. Even if he felt the green monster peak out.
âDustin, youâre one hell of a man! Thank you for letting me be a part of your wedding, and sharing in your joy. And though, she canât be with us here today, I know that Lyla would stand with me and say Congrats you two! Long live the Hoppersons!â Eddie declared before he took a sip of his champagne. âNow, DJ? The first dance please.â He stepped off the dance floor to let the couple take their place before he reached for the flower girl being held in Nancyâs arms.
The little girl looked adorable in her pink dress. She had on a black ribbon like a belt and pink ribbon braided through her hair just like Eddieâs, when he spun her around Steveâs jaw dropped. She had Eddieâs big brown doe eyes. Steve stood shocked to his core as the two giggled together.
Eddie Munson, had a daughter.
Steve couldnât believe it. He didnât think Eddie actually wanted kids and the petty part of him wondered if he knocked a girl up on accident or had one to spite Steve. But just as quickly, he hated himself for thinking something so awful. Especially when Abby grasped his hand; sh eâd been an unplanned pregnancy. W hat was that phrase Robin used to use you shouldnât throw stones if you live in a glass house.
He watched Hopper and Eleven take the floor, then Claudia and Dustin. The two parent dances brought tears to his eyes and a sadness to his heart, he and Eddie skipped them since Steveâs parents didnât approve and with Wendy...they barely had a wedding, let alone a reception.
The DJ invited everyone to the dance floor and he took Abby to join in at her insistence. She pulled him into the crowd and wrapped herself around Dustinâs leg.
âYay Uncle Dustin!â She shouted at him. Dustin lit up and lifted his niece into his arms, swung her around, before turning to pull Steve into a hug.
âHey man! You made it!â He shouted over the music, Eleven pulling him into a hug next.
âThank you for coming Steve and Abby.â El said in that quiet way of hers.
âThanks for the invite! How have you been?â He asked. As the three danced, they caught up. Steve telling them about his divorce, Dustin telling him how he proposed.
A few songs in, the flower girl came up to Eleven and pulled on her sleeve. She turned to the girl and bent to her level. âYes, Lily?â She asked. The little girl, Lily apparently, waved her hand down so she could whisper in Elevenâs ear. El stood and nodded, Steve watched as Lily hugged Dustinâs leg, before she scurried off back to Eddie. He lifted an eyebrow and Dustin chuckled.
âDustin, it is time for cake.â She said to her new husband.
âAlready?â Steve asked. They just ate dinner.
âLily asked very nicely.â El said. Based on the way Dustin responded, it was obvious the two adored the little girl.
âLilith, is our goddaughter.â Dustin said as way of explanation.
Steve was envious of the display. He wished Abby got that kind of reaction out of his friends, but since Wendy hated them all, it was hard to get together. He was envious of Dustin too, he knew Eddieâs daughter in a way Steve didnât, and likely never would.
As the couple went to cut the cake, Steve took Abby to the little girlâs room. After she took care of her business, they exited the bathroom and bumped into Eddie and his daughter.
The two men stared at each other in silence for a minute, before the girls caught sight of each other. Lily hid behind her dadâs leg but peaked shyly at the other girl. Abby ran over and introduced herself.
âHi, Iâm Abigail, but you can call me Abby. I like your hair!â She said sweetly. Lily looked at Eddie uncertainly. He nodded encouragingly at her and she stepped out from behind him a tiny bit.
She tugged on her braid. âTank you, my aunt Nancy did it. To match my dadâsâ.
âThatâs nice! My dadâs hair is too short to do much with it.â She said, in that kid like way that was obvious she was repeating something an adult said. Eddie huffed a laugh. âWhatâs your name?â
âWily. Short for Wiwif.â She whispered. The gap from her missing two front teeth made her have a lisp. She looked at her dad again but stepped forward and stuck her little hand out for a shake. âMy gwanpa Wayne says when you meet new people you shake deir hands.â Abby grabbed her hand and Lily moved their hands up and down.
âMy grandpaâs dead.â Abby said proudly. âIâm eight by the way, how old are you?â Lily holds up four fingers but when Eddie cleared his throat she lifted her thumb. âFive? I remember being five. Wanna play?â She asked confidently with a questioning look at Steve.
âIf, Eddie says itâs fine.â Steve said, saying Eddieâs name for the first time all night.
âCan I daddy?â Lily asked excitedly. Eddie looked at Steve, and dropped to a knee in front of Lily.
âAll right my little demon. If you want you can. But!â he said to grab her attention again. âWhat are the rules?â Steve froze for a moment. He never thought Eddie would have rules for his kids.
âMake sure I can see you. If I canât see you, yell weally loud or find an adult I know. If a stwanger asks me to go somewhewe, ask for the magic woud. If itâs wong, say no. If dey twy to gwab me, bite dem.â Lily replied dutifully.
âTwo moreâ Eddie said encouragingly.
âNo means no. Respec bounwiesâ She said resolutely.
âAlright, go you little gremlin.â Eddie said and laughed as the two girls skipped hand in hand to the dance floor.
The two men stood awkwardly for a moment, but Steve couldnât let Eddie leave. He wanted to catch up even if it was only for a bit. âYou named your daughter Lilith?â Steve asked with a teasing smile. Eddie smiled sheepishly.
âHer mom picked it actually.â He said quietly with a soft smile but a sadness in his eyes. âLylaâs parents demanded a biblical name. I wanted to name her Jezebel but Lyla said she didnât want to name her after a traitor.â He chuckled at the irony. âWhat about you? Why Abigail?â He asked.
âHer mom, Wendy, didnât want to choose. I opened a book of baby girl names and picked one.â Steve answered with a shrug.
âIs Wendy here?â Eddie asked innocently; but, it made Steve get defensive.
âNah, we got divorced.â He admitted.
âIâm sorry to hear that.â He said. Steve wanted to ask if he meant it, but chose the safer option.
âI wouldnât think Eddie âfuck the establishmentâ Munson would have rules for his kid.â Steve chuckled, it was supposed to be a joke, but it came out accusatory. The tensing of Eddieâs shoulders. wilted Steve a bit.
âYeah well, my dad wasnât famous.â He said tightly as if that explained everything. And it did, Steve supposed.
âHe kind of was though, wasnât he?â Steve snorted meanly. Eddie scoffed and moved away.
âHer rules keep her safe. Unlike my father, and yours,â Eddie growled. âI actually care about my daughter, not that youâd know that.â He turned on his heel to go back to the ballroom, but Steveâs hand caught around his wrist.
âSorry, that was shitty. I shouldnât criticize how you parent.â Steve admitted.
âWhy not? Itâs not like you had faith in the type of parent I would be anyway, right?â Eddie asked bitterly.
âThatâs not true! I knew youâd be a great parent!â Steve exclaimed. Eddie didnât react beyond nodding in acknowledgment.
âAbbyâs eight?â Eddie asked tilting his head toward the dance floor, clearly wanting to move away from this conversation.
âYeah? So, what?â Steve asked brazenly. Eddie sighed, defeated.
âNothing, Steve. Just trying to make conversation, excuse me.â He turned to walk back to the ballroom again.
âI didnât cheat on you, if thatâs what youâre wondering.â Steve called after him aggressively. Eddie stopped but kept his back to him.
âI wasnât wondering anything, Harrington. I was just asking.â The use of his last name prickled his skin. Heâd been Steve Munson until he married Wendy, reverting back to his original name. But he doubted Eddie knew that, so it felt like a low blow.
âYou know what Munson?â Steve said angrily. He didnât know why, but all his resentment toward Wendy, his regret for ending things with Eddie, and now his hurt feelings at being so easily dismissed, were culminating in a bad way. Eddie turned to face Steve. âYou can act high and mighty all you want, but youâre here alone too arenât you?â
âYeahâ Eddie said quietly, his jaw clenched, his eyes wet, and even after all these years Steve knew what he looked like before he cried. After all, it was the last face he ever saw Eddie make before today.
âSo, who are you to judge me?â Steve asked but didnât give him a chance to answer. âAbbyâs eight because the girl I went out with a few times after our divorce got pregnant. We got married before she started to show so no one would suspect a thing. She was unhappy, I was unhappy. We got divorced so we could be better parents. It is what it is.â
With a glance at Eddieâs left hand, he scoffed: a gold band sat there, nothing like the silver of his old one. It pissed Steve off, reminded him that he picked out the silver so the rings would blend in with his normal ones, even as Eddie insisted he wanted it to stand out. Undeniable proof that Lyla was better than him. âAt least I donât still wear my wedding ring!â He ranted hypocritically ignoring his old silver band from his marriage with Eddie that hung around his neck for the past ten years.
Eddie didnât say anything, he just looked at Steve in that way that he used to, like he could see right through him. He knew why it hurt so much to see Eddie happy and with a kid. It was a future he could have had if he wasnât so scared. He knew it was selfish but he wanted to make Eddie feel a fraction of the pain he did seeing his ex so happy.
âWhyâs Lyla not here huh? Lyla get tired of you, too? Life of a musicianâs wife too much for her?â Steve snarled. A single tear slid down Eddieâs face but he didnât bother to wipe it away. Still, he said nothing. It pissed Steve off more. âAnswer me! Whyâd she leave you? Where is she?â He stepped into Eddieâs face, nose to nose, digging the knife in deep.
âShe died.â Eddie said, never breaking eye contact with Steve as he cried silently. His eyes were far away, lost in memories and pain. Those two words took the wind out of Steveâs sails so fast he almost got whiplash. It was only then that he noticed a different wedding band hanging on the necklace with his pick. It was smaller, dainty; Lylaâs ring.
âEddieâŚâ he began shutting his eyes in regret but was interrupted.
âNo, now itâs my turn.â He took a breath. âI honestly asked how old Abby was because I wanted to know. I wasnât wondering if you cheated because frankly, it doesnât matter if you did. I stopped worrying about why you threw me away a long time ago.â Steve flinched at the phrasing. âYou broke up with me Steve, not the other way around. You filed for divorce. You ended it. You donât get to be in my face screaming and accusing me of shit just because youâre pissed that I ended up in a happy marriage and you didnât.â Eddie huffed, his eyes hardened into that look that convinced a whole town he was a murderer.
âAnd you definitely donât get to come here and talk about shit you know nothing about. You never met Lyla but if you had, you wouldnât have said a single thing you just did. We loved each other more than anything. We started trying for a kid because I wanted one. I offered to quit the band, she went to my manager herself, and convinced him to add a clause into the band contract that said we would only tour when the kids were out of school and that I would have a back up guitarist that traveled with us. So that if I ever had to dip out of a show for a kid, I could. She traveled with us, the band loved her, the crew loved her, I love her.â The use of the present tense hit him in the gut.
âShe never complained about being on the road, in fact she said it was great for Lily to experience so much of the world. I promised her I would drop everything the second she asked me to, and she actually believed me when I said it.â The emphasis wasnât lost on Steve. Eddie said the same thing to him, but he never trusted it.
âWhen I asked her to marry me, she laughed, and pulled out a ring she got to ask me to marry her. She loved me exactly how I am and I know we would have been together for the rest of our lives if it wasnât for that asshole drunk driver.â
âIâm sorry Eddie. I shouldnât have said any of that.â Steve said sufficiently chastised. Eddie scoffed.
âYouâre right, you shouldnât have. I get that youâre angry. But donât take your bullshit out on me, alright? You donât get to be screaming in my face about my dead wife, because youâre mad you didnât pull out in time. I was never too much for Lyla, I was enough for her. My love was enough for her! So keep her name out of your mouth.â Eddie growled before he wiped his face on his sleeve and walked away, never looking back.
Steve watched him go, full of even more anger at himself than the last time he saw that look on Eddieâs face: pure heartbreak. Because of Steveâs insecurities. Again.

âAre you gonna stop staring at him anytime soon?â Robinâs voice asked loudly in his ear.
âProbably not,â Steve admitted. âHeâs wearing my sweater.â
He saw Robinâs head whip around to look back at Eddie. âHoly shit.â
âYeah.â
Itâs surprising to see Eddie here at all, let alone in Steveâs sweater. Eddie had moved back in with Wayne three months ago after an argument with Steve that led whatever they were to destruction.
Steve wanted more, Eddie had been afraid. Steve said he loved him, Eddie said he needed to leave.
Steve spent the last three months hurting. Eddie was wearing his sweater in public.
Everything was a little confusing right now.
âWe should go, Steve.â Robin sounded angry now, and Steve loved her for it. Sheâd been the one to show up at his door a few hours after Eddie was gone and held him while he cried. Sheâd been there for weeks while he avoided everyoneâs questions, went through the motions of being an adult while barely getting by. She had blocked Eddie on all of his social media and her own out of spite. âIt doesnât do you any good to sit here and pine after someone who hurt you.â
She was right, of course, but he couldnât leave.
Eddie was wearing his sweater.
Eddie looked good in his sweater.
âSteve.â
Steve turned to Robin, who was smiling sadly back at him.
âI donât think I can go without talking to him.â
Robin nodded once, always so understanding of Steve, supportive even when he didnât always deserve it. She was the best, and he was about to piss her off.
âIâll text you when I leave,â he said as he gave her a quick hug. She wouldnât want to stick around to see what happens with this. âIâll be fine.â
He wouldnât, and she knew that, but she squeezed his hand in hers and left anyway.
Eddie hadnât noticed him yet, or at least wasnât acting like he had. He was standing at the bar talking to the bartender and a woman who walked in only a few minutes ago. Whatever he was talking about seemed serious, none of them smiling.
Steve walked up to the bar slowly, but with the sole purpose of talking to Eddie.
The bartender turned to him and smiled. âHey, hon. You need another Sunrise, Sunset?â
Steve shook his head, but smiled at her. âNo thanks, Kim. Just here to say hi to someone.â
When he turned towards Eddie, he was already looking back at him, biting his lip nervously.
âHey, Eds.â
âHey, Stevie.â
âBeen a bit,â Steve swallowed. He didnât actually know what he was trying to accomplish here. All he knew was there had to be a reason he was wearing Steveâs sweater. It wasnât exactly his usual style. âDoing alright?â
The other woman seemed to catch onto what was going on, turning away and talking to the bartender instead.
âUm, yeah I guess.â Eddie was lying. Steve could always tell when he was lying. âYou?â
âBeen better,â Steve replied. âA little surprised to see you here. In that.â
Eddie looked down at what he was wearing and then up at Steve, cheeks red with embarrassment. âLaundry day.â
âSure.â Steve sighed, rubbing his hand down his face. He just had to say something. Maybe closure would be good. âCan we talk somewhere else?â
Eddie nodded and started to walk to the back of the bar where the office and bathrooms were. Steve followed, assuming theyâd go into the bathroom and hope no one came in. When Eddie led him into the office, Steve frowned.
âI donât think we have permission to be in here.â
âI work here part time. Kim lets me take my breaks in here,â Eddie explained, closing the door behind them. âI didnât know you liked this bar.â
âWeâve only been a few times,â Steve explained.
âOh, youâve um. You and your date?â Eddie was leaning against the desk, eyes cast down to his feet.
âNo. Me and Robin.â
Eddie let out a shaky breath. âRight, good, yeah.â
âEddie, look at me.â Steve stepped closer, could almost feel the heat coming off of Eddieâs body. Eddie looked up at him, eyes watery and bottom lip bitten red. âWhy are you wearing my sweater?â
âI needed you.â Eddieâs broken voice was all Steve needed to close what little distance remained between them, pulling Eddie against him and holding him as tightly as he possibly could.
âI didnât think you needed me anymore,â Steve said against his neck, trying not to get his hopes up despite Eddieâs tears now soaking his shirt. âYou didnât want me anymore.â
Eddieâs hands tightened in Steveâs shirt and Steve felt him shake his head. âI wanted you too much. I was scared how much I wanted you.â
âAre you still scared now?â
âOnly that I donât have you.â
Steveâs lips found Eddieâs, hopeful and desperate.
Eddie took control within seconds, turning them around so Steve was sitting on the corner of the desk, legs spread so Eddie could fit between them. Where he belonged.
As Eddieâs hands pushed Steveâs shirt up and Steveâs legs pulled him in impossibly closer, the thought that they were still in a public place occurred to Steve.
He ignored it as Eddieâs thumb brushed against his nipple and his teeth bit his bottom lip.
âWant you now,â Eddie groaned against Steveâs neck. âWant you forever.â
âLock the door.â Steve ordered.
Eddie locked the door.
****
When they left the office, hair disheveled and suspicious stains on their shirts, they were met with a knowing look from Kim.
Eddie rolled his eyes and pushed Steve out the door by the small of his back.
âStill living with Wayne?â Steve asked.
âYeah. Could we go to yours?â Eddie asked hesitantly.
âOnly if it can be ours.â
Eddie stopped him on the sidewalk, eyes blinking furiously. âYou would want that? After I left?â
Steve smiled. âAre you gonna leave again or are you gonna let me love you?â
âYou can still love me?â
âI couldnât not love you.â
âThen letâs go to ours.â

You know about like 2 years ago now I'd wonder why so many people would get mad everytime someone brought up Omori.
Now everytime I hear a person mention Omori I mentally project them blowing up.
#my relationship with omori is like an ex lover#part of me still really loves it. another part of me wants it dead in the dirt#well dead in the dirt is a bit extreme but you get the point#i dont say i like it anymore because frankly it makes me feel weird. alot of bad parts of the community and omocat is. certainly a person#i mean i still have one if the anniversary prints for it so i dont hate it#idk it just sort of leaves a bad taste in my mouth now#but its also a really big part of my life as it was what helped me coped during a really transitional part of my life and me as a person#its also the game that made me realise i should stop wearing only black for the sake of consistency and actually wear something i like#mostly from fanart cause the outfits are dope#maybe thats why I feel sort if butter about it. it relates back to an older part of my life#idk im rambling
