Something that helped put Reynolds into perspective for me as a character was as a screenshot of the novelization. Like obviously, we can tell he and George are closer, much closer than Charlotte and Brimsley(Not hard to do). That Reynolds can soothe George's smaller fits with his hand as an anchor.
But the novelization flat out states that they've been friends since they were kids. Reynolds was the first. To notice. George's episodes. He'd sing to him to try to bring him back when his mind spiraled and hold his arms when they trembled. And he kept the secret from the start.
That's so much to burden on two young children, but they no doubt knew a sign of weakness meant ruin, so they kept it hidden as long as they could. (I love and break over the image of Reynolds holding a twelve, thirteen year old George close, singing, both terrified, no idea what is going on, but knowing he won't leave him even if he hears their names called).
He also tried to hide George from his grandfather. From his abuse.
But his loyalty got repaid. George knew and didn't care that he preferred men. George kept Reynolds' secrets and Reynolds' kept George's secrets and he sang and held George close during the nightmares and when he could've left to follow his father to be a goldsmith he stayed and made less money.
He stayed to ease the burden of the darkness.
He says he always knew his station, but he calls him Georgie to Brimsley and my heart aches to imagine them having to go through the phase where someone probably had to tell them that Reynolds could no longer call George George and they had to start acting like king and valet not something akin to friends. And how much that hurt and isolated George.
I imagine it was so hard to let someone near George, but Reynolds just had to hope that Charlotte and therefore Brimsley didn't burn them. But he would be by George's side no matter what, during the worst nights or the best of balls.
Because that's what he did before he had to. It wasn't his duty, and his duty was painful, but as natural as breathing. And it didn't go unpaid, even in the novelization, when George and Charlotte find him dancing with Brimsley and George draws Charlotte away because, the guys need this moment more then the royals do.
George and Reynolds are my favorite underrated relationship from QC. (I'm still not sure if I like like Reynolds but I love the complexity of him and his situation.)

George II at the Battle of Dettingen by Robert Alexander Hillingford
The last battle in which a reigning British monarch commanded on the battlefield. The Duke of Noailles later said in a letter to King Louis XV 'They didn’t even advance one step; their infantry in tight formation stood like a merciless wall.’

Unnamed pothos but this was a plant I made from cuttings of other pothos and just kept adding new cuttings to it and now it’s pretty impressive and only a few months old. And look at the plant that trying to grow under the dirt bless her heart.
Correction: this is actually George II --but i did add lots of additional cuttings to George II and he was repotted so I forgot for a bit.

Thomas Hudson - Portrait of king George II of UK - 1744
oil on canvas, height: 218.8 cm (86.1 in) Edit this at Wikidata; width: 146.7 cm (57.7 in)
National Portrait Gallery, London, UK
George II (George Augustus; German: Georg August; 30 October / 9 November 1683[a] – 25 October 1760) was King of Great Britain and Ireland, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg (Hanover) and a prince-elector of the Holy Roman Empire from 11 June 1727 (O.S.) until his death in 1760.
Born and brought up in northern Germany, George is the most recent British monarch born outside Great Britain. The Act of Settlement 1701 and the Acts of Union 1707 positioned his grandmother Sophia of Hanover and her Protestant descendants to inherit the British throne. In 1705, George married Caroline of Ansbach, with whom he had eight children. After the deaths of George's grandmother and Anne, Queen of Great Britain, in 1714, George's father, the Elector of Hanover, ascended the British throne as George I. In the first years of his father's reign as king, Prince George was associated with opposition politicians until they rejoined the governing party in 1720.
As king from 1727, George exercised little control over British domestic policy, which was largely controlled by the Parliament of Great Britain. As elector he spent twelve summers in Hanover, where he had more direct control over government policy. He had a difficult relationship with his eldest son, Frederick, who supported the parliamentary opposition. During the War of the Austrian Succession, George participated at the Battle of Dettingen in 1743, and thus became the most recent British monarch to lead an army in battle. In 1745 supporters of the Catholic claimant to the British throne, James Francis Edward Stuart ("The Old Pretender"), led by James's son Charles Edward Stuart ("The Young Pretender" or "Bonnie Prince Charlie"), attempted and failed to depose George in the last of the Jacobite rebellions. Frederick died suddenly in 1751, nine years before his father; George was succeeded by Frederick's eldest son, George III.
For two centuries after George II's death, history tended to view him with disdain, concentrating on his mistresses, short temper, and boorishness. Since then, reassessment of his legacy has led scholars to conclude that he exercised more influence in foreign policy and military appointments than previously thought.
Thomas Hudson (1701 – 1779) was an English painter, almost exclusively of portraits.

Ghosts of Christmas past, present and future but it's the 3 Georges
G1~ needs a translation app.
He still remembers the words that he used to say when people speak to him in English and he didnt understand. (Was ist Daz. Nam ist George)
G2~ just wants to give him advice with (affairs) and stuff. [he's a reliable ghost]
Affairs with mistresses, obviously
G2 banned his son from his court 🤝 G4 banned his wife from his coronation.
They'll get along.
G3~ is still very talkative. What what.
(What's up with bananas?! I'm very good with buttons! Why are you still single?!)
~~~~
Poor George IV had to be comforted by lady friends😮‍💨🤭
~~
Some say, to get rid of the Georgian ghosts, you got to throw tea packets at them, speak English and break their rules.
~~
"Died to haunt over you! King George 1,3 and 2! You didn't do what we told you to!
Until you do, we'll be watching you!
Yeaaa~~~~ Georges
someone mentioned an aquarium au and it's so cute 😭 maybe in such a setting they could have it that merpeople live long lives and just age more slowly so they could also have the other mer! Joestars take up residence at the aquarium once they find out that their great grandpa has found a home and a career there lol
That would be so cute, too!!!
Also, if anything, things can be tweaked a little and, rather than being descendants, the Joestars could all be siblings instead. I've seen some folks playing with that idea for other AUs and it's usually pretty nice to see, too!
Either way, I feel like some of them (Joseph and Josuke, unsurprisingly) would playfully tease Jonathan about his land boyfriend~ Kissy face and all lol
I also think some of the Joestars wouldn't be too much for the "educational jobs" at the aquarium, so they would probably be more into helping feed and take care of some of the other sea creatures living at the aquarium.
That said, Jotaro would be interested in studying some of those sea creatures living there. Jonathan would do so, too, with the difference that Jotaro would probably be more the kind of merguy who works "behind the scenes" and away from interacting with any and every visitor at the aquarium, while Jonathan would be all for the role as a guide, teaching everyone who is interested about anything and everything in regards to sea life. He's also really good at it, so chances are most if not all visitors will learn something new that day about sea life.
