Oh look, What I have so far for my Cataclysm and pre-canon Mondstadt plot points for my ATWIAWL AU!

CATACLYSM

After defeating Durin, Celestia summons Barbatos to assassinate the Khaenri’an heir, to which Barbatos very reluctantly cooperates with, that is until they get there and discover a baby Kaeya.

Seeing his smile, Barbatos cannot bring themself to kill the baby and attempts to smuggle him away from the Cataclysm, but they are discovered by Morax and the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles.

Before all of this, Dainsleif was exiled (for reasons I haven’t really decided yet) from Khaenri’ah but came back during the Cataclysm hoping to save the people, but bumps into Barbatos. Dainsleif is tense at first until Barbatos hands Kaeya over to him and tells him that he must run before the Sustainer arrives.

The Sustainer then proceeds to arrive and Barbatos buys the two time as Dainsleif and Kaeya flee into the Abyss. However, Barbatos quickly loses the fight.

An offence like this would normally lead to the offender’s execution, however, the Sustainer is unable to kill Barbatos without severe consequences (all relating to Istaroth), but leaving them to their own devices is just as equally dangerous, so instead, the Heavenly Principles seal them away.

She still tells all the other archons that they killed Barbatos to dissuade them from also rebelling.

Before they’re able to seal them away, however, Barbatos transfers their powers over to the Thousand Winds, blessing them with power rivalling that of Liyue’s adepti so that after the deed is done and the Sustainer sets out to attack Mondstadt, the Wind Wisps are able to fight her off, sending her into a deep slumber after the Cataclysm weakened her.

PRE-CANON MONDSTADT

After they were blessed by Barbatos, the Wind Wisps essentially became divine protectors of Mondstadt, similar to the Four Winds and Liyue’s adepti. They’re also able to have human forms, identifiable by their white hair and anemo-coloured tips and eyes. They mostly stay in Mondstadt but are also known to live in other nations alongside people they decide to stick to.

Before they were sealed away, Barbatos was able to remove their soul and put it into the form of a Wind Wisp not too dissimilar from the rest of the Thousand Winds. Since their identity as Venti was compromised, Barbatos decided to craft a new identity under the name of Nye and use it to secretly remain in Teyvat.

The fact that Barbatos disguised as Nye is still around is a secret only the Thousand Winds are privy to, because if Celestia were to ever hear of Nye’s true identity, they could potentially awaken prematurely, and that is the last thing anyone wants.

Because they’re around, Venti is able to heal Dvalin of Durin’s poison, but because I’m also a sucker for the gay dragons, close to the present events of the game, Durin gets reincarnated into the most reckless being in all of Teyvat. Initially, Dvalin lets him be out of a sense of guilt from killing his past self, but then Durin (whose name might not be Durin anymore) gets himself in a sticky situation and Dvalin has to appear in his human form in order to get him out of that situation. Afterwards, Dvalin decides to stick around with Durin to ensure that he doesn’t get himself almost killed again.

In his human form, Dvalin has a fake anemo vision and I can imagine him either being a bow user or a catalyst user.

I like to think that Durin would have a cryo vision. I can imagine his weapon either being a claymore or a physical catalyst like Heizou or Wriothesley.

During the Ursa the Drake crisis, the presence of the wisps are able to save Crepus’ life. I haven’t decided yet if present-day Diluc still has the same personality he had before his father died in canon, or if he’s still grumpy. Another fic that inspired me was “A Bard’s Ambition” by OG_CaleHenituse where even though Venti saved Crepus’ life, it wasn’t without people thinking he had died when he went missing which still results in Diluc’s fallout with the knights.

Umm soo I was minding my bussines,farming some artifacts when something caught my eye on the domain reward tree (I forgot its name :'c )

i have this hc/theory abt the ad oblivione, time loops, istaroth and venti (ad oblivione is mentioned in the aranara quest) where istaroth created the ad oblivione by giving birth to the thousand winds - she is time itself while they are erosion, like the sun and its rays! - and let them experience everything in the original timeline, then afterwards she formed the thousand winds into the ad oblivione, creating the time loop, then repeating the cycle with new winds until the loops are complete (yk that note in fontaine that goes through all the calamities/loops? hyperborea, etc? yeah) and mond is the end which is why its so important

venti was a part of the original thousand winds and escaped when istaroth formed the ad oblivione, which is why that note in the thousand winds temple/nameless island is a thing (ill get the actual sources later, just getting thoughts out 😭) and also why he’s considered the prodigal son

reason i wrote this all is bc i was doing ‘research’ (doing my once in a blue moon scroll on twitter and looking at theories) and later saw this poem abt the brain organoids on tiktok and and ☹️

Helloo!!! I've been catching up to your thousand winds au (BC I LOVE VENTI I LOVE U VENTI AND OUR FLOATING TINY PUFFBALL CHILDREN) and I saw a post about Creator!Reader's human form being their smallest form and they can only go BIGGER

And I thought about the Thousand Muses and how they are equal parts Venti and Creator, so as they age and gain more knowledge and followers and evolve their musical skills further and futher, would they perhaps start INCREASING in size? Maybe change forms too, after finally growing into their mantle of gods, they start to ressemble mythological creatures. Maybe some of them take the form of griffons and hippogriffs who pluck the strings of instruments with hooked beaks and shiny claws with such precision that no other musician, mortal or imortal, can replicate their tunes. Others perhaps become pegasus, using hooves as percussion and their GIANT feathers as hands for other instruments. OH OH maybe some of them kinda ressemble sphinxes and harpies????? They managed to achieve a balance between their child forms and animal forms, making soft, cherub faced singers and poets (and tricksters. So many sassy tricksters)!!!

BUT OFC THAT'S JUST ME WITH MY OWN HEADCANONS I DON'T WANNA IMPOSE ANYTHING IT'S JUST A THOUGH I just really like mythology and I thought it would be cool if the little wind sprites eventually grew up to "mirror" those mythological creatures (and even became a core part of Mondstadt's local "mythology" too)😭😭😭

Don't worry! I do encourage everyone to have their own headcanons about the Thousand Muses. They're your children, so I think it makes sense that everyone gets to have their own headcanon of how the wind babies look like. Your ask does remind me of @definitelynotaria's Thousand Muses design and it's my favorite interpretation of the Thousand Muses.

Since they're just minor deities (the sentient 1000, the rest of the floofs are strictly not self-aware... like jellyfish, so they are considered sacred and are respected, but they're not worshipped), they're not gonna exceed Dvalin's size, but they do get close to Andrius'. They're shapeshifters so every scholar that tries to study them can never truly understand how their bodies work.

But that's okay, for both you and your children. Gods weren't supposed to be understood by mortals, anyway. It's better this way. Nothing good can ever come with so much knowledge about you and your kin.

Some divine knowledge are better left alone.

Imagine having kids with Venti. One day, he takes you and the kids to meet his mom and whole family. Apparently, the thousand winds and the clouds are his family and friends.

The prodigal son has his own actual kids now? (Y'know other than Mondstadians) and a partner for life? Everyone is baffled tbh.

It’s Date night with the beloved bard…and the other 999 winds, apparently.

(A One shot)

Oh, to be dancing with the ever graceful and divine and not petty in the slightest lord Barbatos in the thousand winds temple as he twirls you around, so happy that you came back to Mondstadt to spend the evening with him.

As he dips you, he hopes you don’t notice how there are small winds sprites throwing around Cecelia and wind wheel aster petals, almost invisible. He doesn’t mind them being there…so long as none of them try to shoot their shot…

As you continue swaying with him…something light and breeze-blessed is discreetly placed in your hair. You’ve come to be very attune with the wind and it’s many antics…so you open your eyes from the kiss you were about to enter with the beautiful bard. Said beautiful bard is now pouting when you place your hand on his chest, eyes closed with his soft lips ready for yours.

“Whyd ye stewhp?” He pouts, his eyebrows furrow. “Windbluhhhmm…”

“What’s this, Venti?” You giggle as you feel around your hair, and suddenly you find it- a beautiful crown of Cecelias and Windwheel asters- you and Venti’s favorite flowers, intertwined. “Did you make this? It’s so pretty…”

“Make what?”

He opens those beautiful green eyes of his, and now he just seems slightly confused as he cocks his head- but then, almost instantly, he begins to blush madly, and pulls at his collar.

“oh…ehe…so…haha…”

“Venti…” you coo teasingly as you you walk your fingers up his chest to his chin, then twirling his loosened hair in your fingers. “What’s the matter?”

He gulps as his eyes fixate on your waist. It’s more of a glare, actually…

“Uhm…do I have something on me?” Now you’re a bit worried. “Is it bad?”

You look down at your outfit, confused. Then you see it- a tiny windsprite, trying to attach a Cecelia to the waistline of your outfit.

“Oh my-oh my!” You beam excitedly, your hands over your mouth as you look up at the bard. “This is the cutest thing ever-wait, in your hair too!!”

In his hair, another sprite is playing around with the Cecelia in his hair. It seems so content with its life, minding its own business while the anemo archon…maybe not so much.

He blows his fringe out of his face, and huffs. “See, Windblume…I asked them to be discreet for one, one evening…but…”

“Why…they’re so sweet…oh, hello there!” The little sprite is shoving itself into the palm of your hand, nuzzling it as you begin to stroke them with your finger.

He blushes at how sweet you are to them already…his heart is melting. But those cheeky little things…hmph.

“Well…” he sighs, hand on his hip. He shakes his head with a small pout.

“I’m sure you’ve had…similar experiences…with your family, huh?”

You think back to that night, sitting in the hands of the statue with him. What he told you then… Instantly, the dots are connected.

“Oh, Venti, this is the most precious thing ever!!! You’re probably the best big brother to each and every one of them, aren’t you?” You direct your attention back to the sprite in front of you, gently pinching its chubby cheek-so reminiscent of the archons own soft cheeks. “Isn’t he? Isn’t he?” You coo. “But wait…what’s so wrong with you floating around? You’re just the sweetest thing and-“

“a-HEM.” The bard clears his throat, his nose turned up with his arms crossed.

…

Ah. It seems the bard is a smidge…jealous, isn’t he? A bit selfish when it comes to you, hmm?

“Oh, Venti…you’re so silly…” you give him a kiss on his cheek. “You know you’re the cutest of all…at least, to me…”

You pinch his cheek, and he sputters.

“Th-that’s not what I meant! Ehehehehe…nice one though…”

He takes you back into his arms, and the little sprite hanging off of you zips away quickly. Now they are the one pouting as the bard blows them a raspberry.

“Venti!” You laugh, half scoldingly. “Maybe I should take back what I said…”

“Oh, don’t let this rivalry steer you away from me, eh Windblume?” He coos, pulling you closer.

“Just gotta remind the wind know that you’re all mine.”

He finally pulls you into that kiss he was waiting for. You just know he’s purposefully dragging it out so obnoxiously to gross the poor little things out…

But when your lips finally part and eyes are opened, there’s a gaggle of them- somehow, they managed to set up a Kamera. All you can pick up is faint chiming, as if they are all snickering. Venti, based on the expression on his face right now as you stand next to him…he likely knows everything they are saying.

The thousand winds are…they’re quite the special bunch, aren’t they?

If on the off chance that somehow (and i say this with massive amounts of copium) decarabian is not only brought back to life/“woken up”/“unsealed”/resurrected etc but also is a physical entity in the game, would he just be an npc, a boss (world boss weekly boss or local legend) or a playable character? What would hoyoverse change about him from the version of him from 2600 years ago (if anything?) What would his reaction be to having his tower be currently occupied by his rival’s best friend’s adopted dragon?

(Hoyoverse i beg give us more info on that man)

Realistically speaking i think it would be funny if he was a limited event npc. He dosent even change his name and is dressed up all fancy like. Nobody is acknowledging this besides maybe a single flavor text from idk Eula.

He hires Kaveh to do some interior decorating in the tower that he shares with Dvalin. Kaveh didn't know a dragon was this guy's roommate when he agreed to the job.

At approximately 2 in the morning you can hear the sounds of a person playing a flute outside his house. Brought to the location via the wind. He is Suffering but can't prove that Barbatos is the one doing that. But what he can do is tell the kids of Mondstadt that Venti promised to do a performace for them at the exact time that Angel's share was having a limited time discout promotion (First come first serve)

Bestie i am in the middle of the enkanomiya quest so i look up some lore on my phone for more isaroth stuff since this should be the place she is associated with and im only now realizing that if they have a connection with Phanes that means Venti would have a connection with Phanes. Do you think he would call them his grandpa as a joke. Do you think Neuv is going to kick him for what the 1st decender did. Wait what if this is the reason why Venti knows stories from outside his world im going to bark at a cloud aaaaaaaaa-

But yes, Venti could have a connection to Phanes through Istaroth and it's wild! (obviously we don't know the true extent of Venti and Istaroth's connection completely but ya know. secretive wind wisp.)

Also yeah I think Venti would call them gramps, maybe be a bit informal with it you know? Grandpa is a long word, Gramps rhymes with more :)

Nye (Venti's secret identity)

The site I read said it meant "New Start"

This represents how this new identity is essentially a new start for Venti.

My bro and friend both chose Nye out of the long list of names I gave them because it reminded them of Bill Nye the Science Guy X))

Zhen (Zhongli's wisp)

The site I read said it meant "A Treasure" or "Precious"

This is a callback to how Zhen would leave Zhongli gifts before the two got close.

Sometimes, Zhen is affectionately nicknamed "Xiao Zhen", which means "Little Zhen" :))

Kaze no Seirei (Kabukimono's wisp)

Literally just translates to "Wind Spirit"

If the people of Tatarasuna named Kabukimono "Wandering Eccentric", the chances of them giving Kaze an actual name are severely slim.

When they still lived with Ei, Ei just called them Barbatos since she believed that Kaze was his ghost.

Ghostie (Nahida's wisp)

Nahida gave them that name because they looked like a little ghost in their wisp form :))

I might have mentioned this before, but Nahida originally gave me the vibes of someone who'd give proper names, until I remembered that she signed Wanderer up into the championship under the name "Hat Guy"

The name works especially well with the lore I have for Ghostie XDD

Duchesse Imène (Furina's wisp)

The site I read said it meant "She who has faith" or "Believer"

It's meant to reference how although they have no idea what's going on, they decided to support Furina no matter what.

I wanted Imène to have a full title that would match the Salon Solitaire but couldn't figure out what role they would have to Furina in the eyes of the Fontaine people. My pals and I were thinking of some kind of general, or a bodyguard, or an informant or something, and then we had the brilliant idea of making Imène some kind of advisor, like, a king's advisor, but because they don't have official titles, we just went with Duchess in French (Which is literally just Duchess with an 'e' at the end lol)

The Velikaia Knazhna of Snezhnaya, Karine (The Tsarista's wisp)

The site I read said it meant "Beloved Friend"

It is meant to represent how Karine is now the Tsaritsa's closest companion, and essentially her new younger sibling after Venti "died".

The title "Velikaia Knazhna" means "Grand Princess", but translates to "Grand Duchess" in English. It is a title given to the daughters and male-line granddaughters of the Emperor or Empress' of Russia... huh... I don't know why, but before I reread the site I got the info from, I originally thought it was the title given to the younger sibling of a Russian ruler... which... would probably just make them a Prince/Princess huh?

Should I change Karine's title to Knazhna' Krovi Imperatorskoy? It means "Princess of the Blood Imperial" and was a title that was implemented in Russia in the year 1885 to reduce the amount of Grand Princes and Grand Princess by giving the male-line descendants of the Emperor of Russia a title that would distinguish them from those of noble Russian families titled prince/princess.

Why does Karine present as more feminine and bear feminine titles? It's for the Tsaritsa's peace of mind, trust me.

That's cute and all but I imagine them as very picky about food 💀 And the way they eat is like how kittens do? Like kitten licks before gently nibbling on the food offered to them very slowly. The little balls of fluff generally don't even need to eat so they're just eating food that was offered to them by their worshippers to be polite and not to disheartened them. 🥲 They don't even finish it, unless it's soft...

Like almond tofu.

Xiao was the only one to find that out when he shared a second plate of almond tofu with the group that likes to hang around him and ease his karma.

The yaksha was able to sleep without any angry voices of long dead gods plaguing his sleep that night. And so started his daily offering of almond tofu to the fluffballs.

A fight gone awry traps Jean and Kaeya beneath a rockfall in the depths of Brightcrown Canyon, and Kaeya's attempt to distract Jean from the severity of her injuries turns into a discussion of her relationship with Barbara as she considers her regrets. Meanwhile, Diluc and Barbara, searching for their missing siblings, have a similar discussion of their own.

Chapter Two! This one is more setup, and fairly short (the shortest there will be, aside from the epilogue).
