I know sometimes fandom discourse can feel chronically online but I do actually think this one is important. This is an instance where the interment doesn’t exist in a vacuum and fandom culture is a reflection of people’s beliefs about real life.

It’s so tiring knowing there are people who really believe HetGNC people “couldn’t possibly exist.” Or that someone would have to be gay to be attracted to a HetGNC person.

Fandom Problem #5295:

If you want gender nonconformity to be "normalized" so much, you have to accept that there are plenty of people who are not only gnc who aren't LGBT, but there are people who don't need to be to be attracted to them. This also applies to fictional characters. Saying you can't ship a gnc character with a character of the opposite gender on the basis of being gnc is tired discourse. And very outdated stereotyping. Plus bi gnc characters/headcanons exist. "How can anyone look at HER and think she's attracted to MEN!?" And that applies to the fans as well. Plenty of straight gals say they're attracted to gnc men (and vice versa) so the same applies to fictional characters. Specially if you want said characters to be popular in a fanbase.
