Bad News, But Also Good News
So I heard back from Geek Squad this morning. It's the motherboard in my gaming laptop which needs replacing. Since I bought this one directly from HP Canada, not Best Buy, it's not a model they have access to get the part for, so they've shipped it back unrepaired.
BUT - the good news. Someone, I assume while they were checking to see if I was owed any rebate of the repair fee I pre-paid, double-checked its warranty status. Turns out I still have 25 days left on it's 3 Year Care Pack coverage, which I hadn't seen when checking the HP site myself, because it's on a detail page I didn't access - the summary I did see on my HP dash just says "details unavailable", which I thought meant there was no coverage. I bought it three years ago, I figured it had been 1 to 2 year coverage.
So the Geek Squad guy read me off the serial number for my laptop (since it's currently in transit from southern Ontario) and told me to contact HP directly for service. After a half hour or so spent with someone on chat^ they agreed that yup, sounds like it's probably a hardware issue, and are shipping me a shipping box to ship it in for service.
So it's going to take a while longer, but the laptop should eventually be fixed.
Also, since it was actually still under warranty? Best Buy is fully refunding the repair fee. Thank you, Geek Squad guy!
^ either a bot or someone with a script they had to rigidly follow despite whatever the customer told them - hello, the Geek Squad diagnostician says the motherboard is fried, I don't think holding down the power button for 15 seconds is going to cut it, but sure, yes, that was something I actually did do before sending it out for repair.

I would just like to say, I navigated an entire emotional spiral today. I got through it in about 5hrs. But I fucking did it.
Its going from a 8 to a 3.
So im gonna go shower and meditate on it.
I also manged to go to the fucking gym AND
(Personally, if you ask me) nailed an interview for a new position at my job.
I did all that and paid 5 fucking bills.
Literally just dropped to a 2.
I got this and everything is gonna be fucking okay.
Also took my meds.
What the fuck is this Monday.

I woke up this morning, went to watch a new documentary on YouTube. I paused it to go make some breakfast, a few minutes later I come back and there's coding all up on my screen 🙃. My cat is up on my bed moving around. She often will accidentally step on my laptop since she's blind.
I'm not sure if she stepped on it, or if I got hacked. But now I have to take my laptop to Best Buy because it won't let me control my mouse. Something else is clicking randomly on my screen 🤔.
I shut down the laptop, and I won't be turning it back on until Geek Squad has it.
Well, I had plans to go into Issaquah anyway today 🙄. But this is frustrating.

After working in Geek Squad for 3 years, I did start falling into this habit. And there’s one easy reason why this happens.
MOTHERFUCKERS WILL STRAIGHT UP LIE TO YOU. There were too many times where I asked them what they did, like restarting the computer or closing the browser, the client says yes, I do it to double check, and behold the issue is fixed. And the client looks dumbfounded that it could work.
The funniest one was when a laptop got brought in and it was acting SUPER slow and it was about a year old. I asked the client how long has it been since a restart or shut down of the computer. They say about 2-3 days ago. I open up task manager to take a look and it says the computer hasn’t been restarted FOR 30 DAYS. Like not even in the same ballpark of time.
And I couldn’t tell you the amount of times someone you just give us the wrong password to their device. Or even forget they had a password on their device. During my first year, I just tended to believe what the client said, so if the laptop was dead and they said it had no password, I’d check it in no questions asked. And everytime, my repair agent would open it up, see a password required on the login screen and say “you believed them?”
After enough of that, unless you hear technical words or some process of troubleshooting, you just assume the person in front of you knows nothing and needs to be interrogated harshly to get the info you need
A number of my friends from college became IT people and so I’ve heard firsthand all the bullshit they have to put up with at their jobs. But at the same time I know that this constant exposure to people who don’t know the first thing about computers warps their perception to the point that they automatically assume their users are idiots, and so if you have an actual IT issue that’s more complicated than the usual 3 things they will be so dismissive and doubtful of you and will assume you are in the wrong to the point that you have to be a bit of a persistent asshole to get it across that your problem is real.
Anyway I think that’s probably the same problem with doctors

Day 1 of 30 Miles in June completed
Its been a rough few months since the games were completed, tried doing the 3k push-ups in May and in the middle of it all took a road trip to Texas and came back with a boot cup from The Big Texan... so couldn't even finish.
So here we are in June, part of this was because I was inspired by a man who had a stroke and before we could even talk some more and got to know more about him he disconnected. Im still gonna follow through with my June plans and more will be said about this on the podcast this weekend.
For now, im hurting. My hip arthritis has been flaring up and I still need to make another appointment with the chiropractor. But I needed that walk to loosen the hip flexers.
Hello again fitblr community, I told yall I was coming back.
