i just watched geek girl on netflix! i have some... criticism... but i actually really enjoyed it! very cute and has similar vibes to like angus, thongs and perfect snogging/bend it like beckham (which side note: both great movies directed by the same woman) but yeah! has the vibes of a 2000s british movie - combined with the under-rated use of a teen girl voice over!

Geek Girl : season 1
What a nice tv-show.
I haven't recognized the actrice as first, but it's Allison from House of the Dragon.
And the lead actor / model he is so handsome! One of the next face of Netflix I'm telling you.
Also, Harriet and Nick could have kissed way before episode 10.
And the last runway was bullshit. That could have never happened on real life.
The actor playing Wilbur was so good! What a discovery.
But at the end of the series, I didn't understand Harriet's illness? Being a teenager?
Some quotes:
"- I'd spent my life trying to be invisible, trying to fit in. Until I got, discovered, and invisibility became an impossibility." (Harriet - Episode 1)
"- Except here's the thing about stars... they're born out of chaos. And a whole lot of mess. But once we start shining, the universe is never quite the same again."(Harriet - Episode 1)
"- So I think he's there to show that our stories are driven by who we are and what we do, and not by the events that happen to us." (Harriet - Episode 2)
"- It's like no matter how hard I try, it's never enought." (Harriet - Episode 2)
"- I didn't lie to Nat, right? I'm just waiting for the right time to break it to her gently." (Harriet - Episode 4)
"- It's just, I don't understand how people do it. All the talking. About nothing. I find it exhausting." (Harriet - Episode 6)
"- Ah, sarcasm? (Henriett) - Skepticism." (Yuji Lee - Episode 6)
"- Can't you just call her on her personal line? (Jude) - Personal line? It's like a figment of the fashion cosmos, it doesn't exist." (Wilbur - Episode 9)
"- Hey, I tried calling the home phone, Filipe, I even tried your personal line." (Nick) - My personal line is a figment of the fashion cosmos, Nicholas." (Yuji Lee - Episode 10)
"- Harriet? I thought you might want this. (Yuji Lee) - You found it. (Harriet) - No. I magicked it out of the fashion cosmos. Along with my imaginary phone number. (Yuji Lee) - Sarcasm? (Harriet) - Always." (Yuji Lee - Episode 10)
"Some things are more important than fashion. Something to hold on to. So we don't lose ourselves." (Yuji Lee - Episode 10)

I have a bone to pick with my modern day itafushi writers. (Love all yall still)
Why do yall consistently write Yuji as a jock. I know he’s buff and athletic but my dude is canonically not a jock. He does not care about sports or winning only a good time.
Bro is a geek/dork in a jock body. He likes watching movies, reading manga, and weird occult shit. In what world is that jock? (Yes we can be both and people are multifaceted but you know what I mean) dude is a straight up dork come on.
Yuji does not care about sports he’ll play it for fun and that’s it. You know who does care about fitness Maki. Y’all be making her goth/alt when she would be the jock. Girl is all about sports and competition.
Also Megumi is canonically not a nerd. Bro was legit fighting people in middle school he’s a big ass delinquent people. He’s just smart. Other than that he’s a straight up delinquent if not that then he’d be the loner/alt.
I know nerd and jock is cute but if you want it that badly at least switch it up and make it more accurate and do like delinquent and golden boy or something.
That is all. Everyone’s free to do what they want and don’t like don’t read but this has just been bugging me for a bit.
Nobara would be a prep, (think Courtney and Heather from TDI) she’s all about being in charge, fashionable, strong, proving her worth. It’s giving Queen bee mixed with student council.
And since I’m on the topic. Toge gives me artsy vibes, Panda mascot lol, and Yuta is the one normal guy in a school of cliques haha.
Also is it Yuji or Yuuji?

Finished JJK 0
I didn't know the movie was a prequel. I just wanted Yuji to show up the entire time lmao. The blorbo effect of me having a hard time focusing unless blorbo characters are involved.
No but I did manage to focus well enough, and I like that I got to know the year 2 students (or year 1 in this case) better, especially Maki. It makes things more interesting with her sister as well.
I've decided I hate the fact that Toge can only say a handful of curses before he has to tap out. I get that it's a weakness factor of his ability, buuut I still wish he could spit curses for longer than that.
Hearing "goddamn" in a Japanese accent was funny.
Oh yeah the heart nipples dude like what lmao.
I'm interested in seeing how Yuta and Yuji will interact with each other. I feel like their priorities are a bit more in sync in terms of saving/protecting people.
Todo and his Takada-chan agenda lmaooo. That's honestly such a hilarious motive to kick ass faster.
The entire time I was like is Kenjaku that forehead scar dude from season 1. I don't remember if his name was ever revealed in season 1, if so, I clearly didn't hear or memorize it. And then I always just recognized him by the forehead scar, so since he didn't have that in the movie I was like hmm is that the same guy. Are they different men entirely.
Naaaur I just wanna see Yuta and Yuji kicking ass together tbh. Not sure if Yuta returns in season 2, but I feel like he would since the movie was about him.
Ughhh I keep wanting to refer to the characters by their last names instead of their first names since in the sub they always go by their last names. Gojo feels more correct to me atm lmao so anyway I get Gojo's eyes are doing something but idk what, and I don't really care, I just know shit will rock harder when his mask comes off (*cough* Kakashi vibes *cough*) . And no yeah keep your mask on please sir bc those eyes are like elves on cocaine at the Christmas shindig.
Ummm what else... Nanami being a boss as usual. I don't usually buy geek merch, but I'm suddenly wanting a Nanami something of sort. Sticker maybe. Maybe I can slap him over the Nightwing sticker on the back of my phone case.
Kasumi is just a cutie patootie. Looks like a cinnamon roll... could actually kill you. Her hair makes me want to eat a blue Icee though.
I've been wondering who Gojo's teacher was and bam. No teacher reveal. But! Gojo and uhh what's his face... scar man. Scanning my above points quickly to try and find his name... oh Kenjaku. Yeah them being classmates wasn't necessarily surprising. Just because Kenjaku obviously knew a lot about Gojo based on season 1.
I don't remember if I was distracted or it simply wasn't mentioned, but I don't know what Yuta's skills are now. Like what's her face dead girl love monster, her curse self died, and so he shouldn't have access to her assistance now, right? But is her curse energy still embedded in the sword? So he's just a cursed sword user now? Or is he still insanely powerful?
Welp on to season 2 I suppose. I need Yuji's loud annoying ass back in front of my eyes pronto.

CRUNCHYROLL: annunciate sette nuove serie all’Anime NYC
Nel 2023 potremo seguire in simulcast anche Hell's Paradise, The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague, Dead Mount Death Play, la S2 di The Ancient Magus' Bride, Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirement, Ayaka e Yuri Is My Job!
Tumblr media
Post notturno!
Come sempre ho incluso qualche info e i trailer ufficiali sottotitolati.
GENNAIO 2023
🔶🔸THE ICE GUY AND HIS COOL FEMALE COLLEAGUE
Tumblr media
youtube
La serie è Mankyu (THE IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls Theater) e in produzione presso gli studi ZERO-G (My Roommate is a Cat, Science Fell in Love, So I Tried to Prove It) e LIBER.
🔶🔸SAVING 80,000 GOLD IN ANOTHER WORLD FOR MY RETIREMENT
Tumblr media
Nuova commedia fantasy isekai firmata da FUNA, autore anche di “DIDN’T I SAY TO MAKE MY ABILITIES AVERAGE IN MY NEXT LIFE?!”, di cui abbiamo già visto sbarcare in streaming la serie animata, durante l’autunno 2019.
youtube
APRILE 2023
🔶🔸 DEAD MOUNT DEATH PLAY
Tumblr media
youtube
L’action a tinte soprannaturali è diretto da Manabu Ono (Sword Art Online: Alicization, Sakura Wars the Animation), presso lo studio GEEK TOYS (Date A Live IV, Apparently Disillusioned Adventurers Will Save the World).
🔶🔸THE ANCIENT MAGUS’ BRIDE (Stagione 2)
Tumblr media
🔶🔸YURI IS MY JOB!
Tumblr media
youtube
La serie è diretta da Kaori Makita (Twittering Birds Never Fly: The Clouds Gather) ed è un altro attesissima adattamento di casa MAPPA (Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man).
🔶🔸AYAKA
Tumblr media
youtube
Diretta da Nobuyoshi Nagayama (Love Flops, Smile Down the Runway), la serie animata sta venendo prodotta presso STUDIO BLANC (Life Lessons with Uramichi-Oniisan, The Reincarnation of the Strongest Exorcist in Another World).

I think Yuji Lee might be my favourite character.
Theory: Yuji obviously likes Harriet very much even though nobody knows why but I think that the essence of Yuji Lee that Yuji apparently found in Harriet might just be the potential within a young anxious neurodivergent woman.
Throughout the show we see Yuji is very stern and acts very eccentric and doesn't do many facial expressions and if it were just that it could seem like she's just another diva like Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada (but less toxic). But then you see she's just like that with her nephew when it's just the two of them but immediately after he's gone she starts to laugh, as if that attitude is an armour or a coping mechanism. And when nobody is looking she smiles at the shenanigans of Harriet's parents during the perfume shoot. She looks very overwhelmed when the black lady declares that she's the top partner for Bascar. When Harriet falls on the runway and is so full of anxiety and regret that only compells Yuji into giving her another job. She even has her own "talisman" to root herself when she's nervous/anxious. I think she might be autistic, too, just saying.

How Jujutsu Kaisen’s Female-Centric Fight Scenes Push Shonen Forward
https://ift.tt/2PgMWtM
For many anime fans, Jujutsu Kaisen shone as the highlight of the Fall 2020/Winter 2021 season. There are many possible reasons for this hype: The series delivered more sought-after supernatural action on the heels of 2019’s breakout hit Demon Slayer. Its darker approach both set Jujutsu Kaisen apart from its predecessor and offered a cathartic escape during a global pandemic. Studio MAPPA adapted Gege Akutami’s original manga with memorable visuals and smooth animation. After all, who can forget the first time Gojo tangled with Sukuna or used his mind-bending domain expansion technique?
But what’s most striking about Jujutsu Kaisen are its fight scenes. Even the show’s detractors will agree that, through clever action cinematography, the series showed us how well-executed sequences can elevate the otherwise simple premise of a boy who gets possessed by a demon. Less remarked upon, however, is how those same fight scenes utilize Jujutsu Kaisen’s female characters.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s portrayal of its female characters has won the series many fans. Episode 17: “Kyoto Sister School Exchange Event – Group Battle 3” drew widespread acclaim with its on-screen acknowledgment of the struggles women face in an overtly sexist society. What went less remarked upon was the backdrop against which those declarations took place.
Longtime shonen fans are familiar with what can be called “the obligatory girl fight.” It’s the match-up between two female characters. Sometimes, they’re the only female characters from the series in question. One variation may feature one-off declarations of throwing away their femininity through a dramatic cutting of hair. Another, sadly more common type uses the opportunity for gratuitous, male-driven fan service.
On its surface, Episode 17 showcases the obligatory girl fight. But in many ways, the explicit examination of the impossible standards that women are held to tells the audience this fight is anything but obligatory. And, even if any doubts remained, we need only look at the actual fights that occurred during the episode: Maki Zenin kicks her opponent off a cliff. Nobara Fugisaki nearly destroys the surrounding forest to take down broom-riding Momo. Mai Zenin, Maki’s twin, defeats Nobara with what could be called a cheap shot: sniping her from a distance while the other girl verged on defeating her opponent.
These observations may seem like small things, but they’re notable when looking at the history of female fighters in shonen series. In generations past, shonen’s female characters often found themselves relegated to support roles. They’re healers and medics. They patch up the other (male) characters’ physical and emotional wounds. Their abilities, despite being often presented as without peer, are used in the most benign and inoffensive of ways. Is she physically the strongest person in the entire series? Perhaps, but she would never hit a person using her full strength. She hits things, not people—even if that person is doing everything in their power to kill her.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Season 2, the Prequel Movie, and Their Possible Connections
By Vernieda Vergara
TV
Yasuke Review: Netflix Anime Reclaims The Story of a Black Samurai
By Caroline Cao
When Maki kicks Kasumi Miwa off the cliff in Episode 17, she doesn’t hesitate. She presses her advantage. When you fight, you fight to win. And in their line of work, the physical injuries sustained from such a fall are nothing compared to the potential threat from facing and exorcising a cursed spirit. Mai’s attack may be considered cowardly, but the results can’t be denied. She eliminated Nobara from the competition. This isn’t to say that every female character in a shonen series should be bloodthirsty. That defeats the purpose of seeking multidimensional female characters in our media. But if a woman works in a dangerous occupation like that of a jujutsu sorcerer, she must accept the routine necessity of violence.
Unlike other shonen series, we don’t see the female characters grapple with that reality in Jujutsu Kaisen. The women have already come to terms with those expectations. In the case of Maki, the acceptance is crucial. Born with no cursed energy—something most jujutsu sorcerers have—she has no choice but to rely on her physical abilities. And make no mistake, she makes good use of them. She’s allowed to be strong in the same way that series protagonist Yuji is strong. She fights hard. She’s often the first to land a hit on an otherwise untouchable enemy. She can emerge from an encounter unscathed whereas her male ally is not so lucky. Individually, these are small things but together, they add up over time.
Nobara, on the other hand, reminds us that women don’t have to accept the unfair expectations placed upon their gender. In her memorable speech from Episode 17, she proudly states that she loves being strong as much as she loves dressing up and looking pretty. Embodying both may seem like a contradiction for the shonen female heroine, but Nobara is a study in contrasts right down to her signature technique. Her trademark ability involves hammering nails through a straw doll that represents her enemy. What the audience may not realize is that the technique has roots in a traditional Japanese curse ritual where scorned women nail effigies to trees. Nobara isn’t a scorned or rejected woman, however. Instead she’s adopted a process associated with feminine vengeance and transformed it in a brutal attack.
We see Nobara’s technique in action throughout the entire series, but it takes center stage in “Accomplices,” Jujutsu Kaisen’s season 1 finale. During the episode’s climatic battle, Nobara is underestimated by their enemies like many female characters in shonen series before her. And why not? Her partner, Yuji, serves as the host to Sukuna, the King of Curses. He is the more obvious threat. But in a stunning reversal, it’s Nobara who becomes far more dangerous to their enemies. She may not host a demon nor does she have intimidating physical abilities, but she has a quick mind for strategy and an understanding of the sacrifice required for victory. The ensuing action-packed scenes show us a battle where Yuji and Nobara fight as equal partners. Neither is more important or weaker. The girl doesn’t need protecting. She doesn’t need saving. In another shonen series, the fight’s conclusion would highlight Yuji’s protagonist status by giving him the final strike. But even here, the success of Yuji’s punch relies on Nobara’s long-distance attack.
In Season 1, Jujutsu Kaisen gives us fight scenes where women play crucial roles. They weaken and delay opponents to give time for stronger combatants to arrive. More than that, it gives us women who enjoy fighting. They defeat enemies with a self-satisfied smirk on their faces. They smile as they promise to deliver death. In Jujutsu Kaisen, the women aren’t constrained by being nice. They’re allowed to be ugly and brutal. And because of that, their fight scenes show us what female characters can accomplish when they’re allowed to move beyond agonizing over a violent life and instead embrace it as a requirement of their chosen profession.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Season 2, the Prequel Movie, and Their Possible Connections
https://ift.tt/3aAfe9n
Season 1 of Jujutsu Kaisen ended last month on a high note with a stellar, action-packed finale. Since the anime launched last year, the series has been lauded for its stupendous animation and fight sequences, but the exciting team-up between the protagonist Yuji Itadori and his classmate, hammer-wielding Nobara Kugisaki, left us hyped and hungry for more.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Release Date
Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait a little while longer for another season. While MAPPA, the production studio behind the anime, has teased future episodes, a projected air date has yet to be revealed.
Based on comments made by the production staff and how well-received Jujutsu Kaisen season 1 was, it’s almost guaranteed there will be a follow-up season at the very least. As for when, it’ll likely be after the prequel film is released.
It’s not all doom and gloom for Jujutsu Kaisen fans, though. Shortly before the Season 1 finale aired, the anime’s official Twitter account announced a prequel film for the series. And if that wasn’t enough to whet our appetites, they dropped a teaser trailer for the movie after the season finale finished broadcasting.
When is the Jujutsu Kaisen movie coming out?
While we don’t have a concrete date yet, the teaser trailer projects a Winter 2022 release. In anime speak, that means early next year. Even though that potential release date may disappoint fans hoping for something right now, it may be easier to swallow with the knowledge that Studio MAPPA is also handling the production for the prequel movie. Given the stunning visuals and slickly choreographed action sequences MAPPA delivered for the anime series, as well as the studio’s history for working on well-received series like Yuri on Ice and Dorohedoro, the result will likely be worth the wait.
Since we don’t have an official release date yet, we can’t be sure how the film will be distributed outside of Japan. But considering the anime’s popularity, it’s safe to assume there will be a North American, English-language release.
Yuta Okkotsu and the Jujutsu Kaisen Movie Plot
The film will adapt Jujutsu Kaisen 0, the prequel of the main manga series. Creator Gege Akutami originally released Jujutsu Kaisen 0 as a standalone, four-chapter oneshot. But after the miniseries proved more popular than expected, they began serializing the main Jujutsu Kaisen manga the following year. And aren’t we all glad for that?
Based on the teaser trailer, the prequel will focus on Yuta Okkotsu, a student with enormous cursed energy. We can assume that Yuta has come to Tokyo Jujutsu High School to learn how to control his abilities based on the trailer’s narration. He appears to be standing at a crossroads where he can either use his powers to save people or destroy them.
It’s doubtful that his training will go off without a hitch, though. While the trailer focuses on Yuta, it opens with Suguru Geto talking about unleashing a Night Parade of 100 Demons on Christmas Eve. Since we last saw Geto allying himself with cursed spirits during Season 1 of the anime, his motivations for doing so can’t be anything good and most likely have a lot to do with Yuta.
How does the Jujutsu Kaisen film connect to the anime series?
While the prequel focuses on a different protagonist, this isn’t the first time we’ve been introduced to Yuta Okkotsu. He’s been mentioned throughout Season 1 of Jujutsu Kaisen. He’s a classmate of Maki Zenin, Toge Inumaki, and Panda, and his absence was noted during the Kyoto Sister School Exchange Event by numerous people. Most notably, Aoi Todo—a third year from Kyoto Jujutsu High—was dismayed when he learned Yuta wouldn’t be participating in the competition. His reaction tells us that whatever happens in the prequel, Yuta will become a force to be reckoned with.
The Night Parade of 100 Demons is also referenced before the exchange event arc when Todo and Mai Zenin drop by Tokyo Jujutsu High to survey their future rivals. From that encounter, we know it becomes known as a terrorist attack. We also know Todo distinguished himself during the attack when he exorcised five first-grade and one special grade cursed spirits by himself.
So while the film may not tie directly into the main series, its events and characters have an impact upon the current storyline. That said, Yuta’s absence in the anime is conspicuous considering how often he was brought up during Season 1. Keeping that in mind, chances are good that he may make a future appearance. After all, why is he absent during the exchange event? Maybe the film will provide a clue.

Will we see characters from the main series in the Jujutsu Kaisen movie?
In addition to Yuta and Geto, the teaser trailer also features a voiceover and glimpse of Satoru Gojo. It makes sense that Gojo would be present, because not only is he an instructor at Tokyo Jujutsu High School, he’s also the most powerful jujutsu sorcerer currently alive. Yuta’s abilities would definitely interest him.
Beyond that, due to the movie being a prequel, it’s unlikely we’ll see Yuji or Nobara since they’re both freshmen in the main series. There is a chance we may see Megumi Fushiguro, despite his also being a freshman in the current timeline, because of his connection to Gojo and the illustrious Zenin clan. On the other hand, there is a high probability we’ll see Maki, Inumaki, and Panda. They’re Yuta’s classmates at Tokyo Jujutsu High, which gives the prequel an opportunity to explore their characters more in-depth than we’ve seen in the anime series so far.
The teaser also briefly shows a young girl and a cursed spirit attached to Yuta. Without a doubt, the film will explore their connection to Yuta and each other.

Season 1 of Jujutsu Kaisen is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.

Cobra Kai Season 3 Release Date Teased for 2021 with Preview Footage
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
Cobra Kai Season 3 is officially set to premiere on Netflix in 2021.
The series—a contemporary-set sequel to the 1980s cinematic splendor of The Karate Kid franchise—has enjoyed the status of an acclaimed cult favorite scripted standout on streaming service YouTube Premium before it exited the content-shrunken platform this past May, only to be snapped up by Netflix in June. Now, Cobra Kai is heralding the Netflix premiere of Seasons 1 and 2 this Friday with a trailer that serves the dual purpose of providing a quick synopsis of the two existing seasons and revealing the heretofore mysterious plans for Season 3. Thus, we now know that Cobra Kai Season 3 will hit Netflix in 2021 on a date to be revealed.
As you can see, the trailer (seen just below,) ups the ante for viewers by concluding with the very first teaser footage from Cobra Kai’s long-awaited third season. The scene in question, brief as it may be, proves to be a powerful preview, confirming a notion that was teased over a year ago, namely that Daniel (Ralph Macchio) will return to Okinawa, the southern Japanese prefecture setting of 1986 sequel movie The Karate Kid Part II, which is excellent news for fans of that notably-lauded entry in the film franchise.
Indeed, contrasting with initial peaceful seaside imagery from Okinawa, the clip shows Daniel in what’s presumably the Miyagi family dojo getting judo-tossed by an unnamed, black-gi-sporting character, who comes within inches of impaling Daniel with his sai. Yet, what makes the scene so poignant to the show’s plot is the depicted scuffle’s context-setting voiceover, in which a perturbed and incredulous Daniel is heard angrily stating that “Mr. Miyagi treated me like a son. He wouldn’t keep any secrets from me,” after which a mysterious voice ominously answers, “Are you sure about that?” Consequently, one might want to wait before belting out a nostalgic line or two from Peter Cetera’s movie soundtrack hit, “Glory of Love,” since this visit will clearly reveal some startling, potentially disillusioning secrets to Daniel about his late sensei, Miyagi.
Now, fans are left to theorize about the nature of said secret, which we can presume centers on something that directly affects Daniel. Indeed, speculation is already proliferating, pointing to the possibility that Daniel may have unwittingly sired a child with his love interest from Part II, village girl Kumiko; a secret that Miyagi might have kept from Daniel, who’s now married with two children. Moreover, when one gives the Zapruder film treatment to some of the footage, it vaguely shows Daniel’s opponent to be an Asian man who could either be the wayward love child in question OR Yuji Okumoto as Chozen, Daniel’s belligerent main rival from Part II, with whom he shares a legacy in the annals of Miyagi-Do Karate.
Pertinently, the role of Kumiko was played in Part II by Tamlyn Tomita, an Okinawa-native actress, for whom the 1986 film served as her onscreen debut. Her involvement with Cobra Kai in Season 3 has long been the subject of speculation, and has not been confirmed. Yet, the possibility seems strong, with Tomita fielding several prominent TV roles these days, most recently as the villainous Commodore Oh on CBS All Access’s Star Trek: Picard. It makes sense that the actress would want to reprise the role that put her on the map, and Season 3 having filmed in Okinawa, as opposed to Part II’s shoot, which mostly substituted Oahu, Hawaii for the setting.
Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see the dramatic trajectory for Cobra Kai Season 3, especially after Season 2 ended in such a dark place for both Macchio’s Daniel and William Zabka’s Johnny Lawrence, the latter of whom saw his dojo dreams collapse, and his beloved student, Miguel (Xolo Maridueña) left seriously injured after a fight with biological son Robby Keane (Tanner Buchanan), who seems to be going down a dark path. The possibilities are certainly exciting.
In the meantime, you can acquaint yourself (or re-watch) Cobra Kai Seasons 1 and 2 when the series makes its Netflix arrival on Friday, August 28.
