Summary: You help your Queen process her emotions after Lucerys’s death

The afternoon's blistering heat had faded into the balmy night, with the moon shining bright behind the swirling mists of fog. You dipped the sponge into the warm water before lifting Rhaenyra’s arm and gently scrubbing her skin. Moments earlier, she reeked of dragon, the pungent scent of smoldering embers, and scorched meat undercut with a faint hint of sulfur. As she marinated in the piping hot water bubbling with jasmine oil, the putrid smell began to disappear slowly. You took care to clean under her nails, scrubbing away the dirt and grime until they sparkled like shimmering glass. While the water could wash away the muck, it did nothing to soothe her melancholy. Nothing could replace the children she had lost.

For over a sennight, she took to the skies, hoping to find remnants of Luke’s remains. Many worried in her absence, with Prince Daemon itching for vengeance. You did not fault him; it was his nature to take charge and make their enemies pay. You worried for your Queen as she journeyed with only her dragon for company. However, Syrax was a formidable companion.

Apart from Elinda, you were the closest handmaid to the Targaryen Queen. Your long-deceased father, Lyonel Strong, had requested you be placed in her service when you were both on the cusp of womanhood. You long held the secret of her trysts with your older brother, Harwin, for you understood Laenor had extended his blessing in the regard. While it was not an ideal situation, you were pleasantly surprised how the three made such an odd relationship work despite the consequences it bore. Rhaenyra loved those three boys with all of her heart. You supposed part of her heart was ripped away when she heard of Luke’s death.

“May I attend to your hair now, Your Grace?” you asked, raising to your feet.

“Please,” she murmured; her once amethyst eyes that sparkled with life were now dulled. Illustrious gems that had lost their luster, a stark contrast to the vibrant, lively woman she used to be. A broken princess turned into a broken queen. Mayhaps the Targaryens paid a heavy price to sit upon the Iron Throne.

You knelt behind her head, fingers carefully undoing her intricate braid and loosening the strands of matted hair. Then, lifting the ivory brush, you began to untangle her mane, taking care with each stroke of the bristles. Your fingers expertly worked the oil through her hair before lifting a jug filled to the brim with water. She tilted her head back, allowing you to rinse her hair clean. As you continued your work, a glimmer of her former self emerged. But you knew, deep down, that while she may look like herself again, the scars of her loss would never truly fade. Ripped edges that would always remain jagged.

You heard the whisperings of her discovering Arrax’s severed wing and clothing worn by the young Prince Lucerys on his cursed journey to Storm’s End. It was a genuinely wretched thing to have no body to burn. The Gods were cruel, you thought. Rhaenyra continued to simmer in the water until it turned as cold as the weather in the North. You took great care in helping her from the stone tub and drying off her damp skin before draping a crimson robe around her.

Her shoulders slumped as she stared at her reflection in the looking glass. Defeat hung heavy on her sullen face. Gaunt eyes begging for relief, a respite from the tragedy that marred her life. Your heart ached for her, so you gently rested your hand on her shoulder to provide her a modicum of comfort. An ounce of kindness would go a long way. Mayhaps, more should be extended to her and to Aegon; that is where peace might be found. Her hands snaked around yours, holding tightly as if afraid to slip away.

“Do you find me to be a terrible person?” she whispered, her voice cracking and quivering.

Your eyes widened.  “Of course not, Your Grace!”

“Please, speak truthfully and address me as Rhaenyra,” she requested. Her eyes pleaded with yours. She needed a friend.

You let go of her before kneeling in front of her and drawing both her hands into your own. Your thumb stroked gently over the scar left by Alicent Hightower years ago. Undoubtedly, the scars on Rhaenyra’s heart outnumber the ones on her body. “I have never once thought such, Rhaenyra.”

Her lower lip quivered as her strong facade cracked and crumbled to dust. “I had only wished to fulfill my inheritance and serve the realm. I never wished for this. I should have never sent Luke alone.” Tears dribbled down her flushed cheeks. Plump, watery, opaque pearls splattered onto the stone beneath her chair.

“You could not know this would happen.”

She squeezed your hands as the tears poured freely down her face. “I do not want this burden if this is the cost.” Her voice was heavy and thick as she admitted her truth. A truth she dared not speak aloud, but it felt healing to let them fall from her lips. “I would trade my crown for the lives of my children.” A soft wail spilled from her the moment she admitted those sentiments.

Motherhood had petrified her; it had driven her mother into an early, bloody grave, and yet the moment she held Jacerys in her arms, you had watched her slowly embrace it. Jace healed a deep wound inside her, and no soul in the realm could doubt her love for all her children. She would throw herself in the cruel barbs and sharp words hurled in thoughts of their heritage, letting each one slice her deep to protect them from hearing such squander. However, she would not be able to protect them forever but would do everything in her power to continue.

Her hand slipped to her belly as thick, hot tears continued to pour down her ruddy cheeks. A son and a daughter torn from her womb, now left to the mercy of the Gods. Her gasps for air made your belly twist uncomfortably, but you said naught, simply allowed her to weep freely and without judgment. She was only human, after all. Even Targaryens, with their dragons and otherworldly appearances, were still flesh and blood. You lifted her hands, pressing soft kisses to her fingers, free from the rings she usually wore. Admitting such beliefs out loud took courage and strength, and you felt grateful that she trusted you with such feelings.

“I believe you will make a fine queen, Rhaenyra. The realm is long overdue for one. I hold hope that a peaceful resolve might be reached, as foolish as that may sound.”

A small smile turned across her lips. “I do not think you sound foolish.”

“Then I am not foolish, and you are not a terrible person. You were named King Viserys’s heir; fealty was sworn to you,” you reminded her. Her shoulders straightened as the tears began to dry on her face.

“Thank you for allowing me to unburden. You have been by my side for many years. There are times I look upon you, and I see Harwin, I see my boys. You are my family.”

Your heart fluttered.

“I feel the same, Rhaenyra. When the Stranger claimed my father and brother, I made a promise that I would do what I could to protect you and the boys. I would do the same for little Aegon and Viserys. We may not share a drop of blood, yet I feel as if we are bonded in such a way,” you whispered.

Her hand gently cupped your face, thumb stroking across your cheek. “Allow me to hug you, my dearest.”

You melted in her arms, holding her as tightly as she embraced you. Even the strongest of persons were not immune to the tragedies of life. But what does not break one simply makes one stronger. She would rise like a dragon from the embers, ready to burst into fire and claim her birthright. More scars would be wrought, and more tears would be shed. Yet she would be the finest queen Westeros had ever seen.

-I'd think that you would definitely be on yearbook or photography club at gotham academy.

-you and Damian meet during a school event where you're the unofficial photographer for your class. You’re snapping pictures for the yearbook, capturing moments of your classmates having fun. Damian, is off to the side, observing. When you spot him, something about his intense gaze and aloof demeanor intrigues you, so you decide to snap a quick photo of him.

-Damian notices you taking his picture and approaches you, questioning why you’d photograph him without permission. You apologize and explain that you’re just trying to capture everyone at the event. Despite his initial irritation, he’s impressed by your honesty and the way you confidently stand your ground. This sparks his interest, leading to more conversations between you two.

-Damian becomes protective of you, especially when he sees how focused you get during your shoots. If you’re out taking photos in risky areas of Gotham or staying out late to get the perfect shot, Damian insists on accompanying you, not wanting you to be alone in dangerous situations. If you go by yourself, best believe you're getting watched over by Robin that evening

-you guys definitely collaborate on creative projects. He’ll sketch something and you’ll try to capture it through photography, or you’ll take a photo, and he’ll interpret it through his art. It’s a unique partnership that brings out the best in both of your talents.

-Damian isn’t big on public displays of affection, but he shows his love in subtle ways. He’ll hold your hand when you’re walking together, guide you protectively through crowds, or rest his hand on your lower back. In private, he’s more open, often pulling you into gentle embraces and kissing your forehead or temple. You support this more than another person would, because you understand paparazzi, and journalism partially (sometimes you even pose when you guys are in public)

-Damian is your biggest supporter when it comes to your photography. He’ll attend every exhibition, help you find new locations to shoot, and like I said in Artistic!reader he'll even use his connections to get you access to exclusive places.

-You and Damian enjoy exploring Gotham together, often venturing into different neighborhoods to find hidden gems for your photography. Damian, being familiar with the city’s ins and outs, knows the best rooftops for skyline shots and the quietest parks for candid moments. These adventures become a regular part of your relationship

-Damian isn’t the most traditionally romantic, but he surprises you in his own way. He might bring you a new lens for your camera that he noticed you were eyeing, or leave a bouquet of your favorite flowers on your desk. His gestures are thoughtful and personal, always reflecting how well he knows you.

🌊 - Discover the Ocean's Hidden Gem Deep down in the Pacific

1. Massachusetts passed a millionaire's tax. Now, the revenue is paying for free public school lunches.

Every kid in Massachusetts will get a free lunch, paid for by proceeds from a new state tax on millionaires.

A new 4% tax on the state's wealthiest residents will account for $1 billion of the state's $56 billion fiscal budget for 2024, according to state documents. A portion of those funds will be used to provide all public-school students with free weekday meals, according to State House News Service.

2. Plant-based filter removes up to 99.9% of microplastics from water

Researchers may have found an effective, green way to remove microplastics from our water using readily available plant materials. Their device was found to capture up to 99.9% of a wide variety of microplastics known to pose a health risk to humans.

3. Scientists Find A Whole New Ecosystem Hiding Beneath Earth's Seafloor

Most recently, aquanauts on board a vessel from the Schmidt Ocean Institute used an underwater robot to turn over slabs of volcanic crust in the deep, dark Pacific. Underneath the seafloor of this well-studied site, the international team of researchers found veins of subsurface fluids swimming with life that has never been seen before.

4. How solar has exploded in the US in just a year

Solar and storage companies have announced over $100 billion in private sector investments in the US since the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) a year ago, according to a new analysis released today by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA).

5. Researchers have identified a new pack of endangered gray wolves in California

7. The Inflation Reduction Act Took U.S. Climate Action Global

The U.S. Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) aimed to promote clean energy investments in the U.S. and globally. In its first year, the IRA successfully spurred other nations to develop competitive climate plans.

Clean energy projects in 44 U.S. states driven by the IRA have generated over 170,600 jobs and $278 billion in investments, aligning with Paris Agreement goals.

➤ Courtship, Bonding and Bond Sickness

Content: A collection of world building headcanons involving demonic courtship in the Devildom and bond mates in the Celestial Realm.

Warnings: Mentions of generalized violence and typical demon-like behaviour. References to grief/depression and other mental health issues when referencing bond sickness.

COURTSHIP

A formal process of pursuing another demon for romantic purposes, courtships are a long-lasting tradition in the Devildom. Many of the customs and practices used in ancient times have gradually been phased out or replaced with less deadly variations to make Devildom social customs more palatable for the other realms.

Demonic courtship is meant to symbolize a demon's usefulness, such as their skills in combat and ability to provide a comforting home for their mate and potential family. The focus is on proving their personal strength (physical or magical) and resourcefulness rather than social status or wealth.

Some of the common courtship traditions practiced today may include:

A piece of jewelry forged with a bloodstone (a type of Devildom gem infused with the suitor's blood). This is typically given near the end of the courtship, similar to a human engagement piece. Mated demons usually wear a set of matching bloodstone jewelry that symbolizes their successful courtship as well.

A Devildom dance between the suitor and their prospective mate(s). This may be replaced with another social/artistic gift such as a song, poem, or artwork.

A meal prepared by a suitor and shared with their prospective mate. Serving their intended inappropriate foods could be seen as a grave insult and put the courtship in jeopardy.

A bouquet of Devildom flowers that should compliment their mate(s), utilizing the language of demonic flowers and plants to their advantage. Similar to food offerings, poorly planned or researched flower gifts have the potential to cause offense.

Optional customs that are seen as antiquated and not part of standard courtship practice in modern times:

Obtaining a trophy from a rare/nightmarish Devildom beast, slain and/or harvested by their own hand.

Offering one or part of their horn(s) that can be worn as jewelry or make into an art piece. This is most common among Devildom royalty.

Outdated or outlawed practices:

Weapons or jewelry gathered from slain enemies in battle (presumed angels). The trade or sale of angelic heirlooms is still possible through the black market, but due to the lack of recent conflict with the Celestial Realm, these items have become scarce.

Procuring a soul stone, a magical trinket infused with part of a human soul. It is more beautiful than useful and is normally displayed in the home as a decorative accessory. Due to obvious reasons, hunting human souls specifically for this purpose is now forbidden.

BONDING

Even though romantic/sexual relationships are technically allowed in the Celestial Realm, there is no recognized process to enter a formal courtship or marriage the way demons or humans do. However, angels can become bond mates with other angels. This bond is usually created over time by angels that share an extremely close familial, platonic, or romantic connection. It is something forged from within, the result of reciprocal affection and genuine emotion. Many angels form bonds to each other and don't even realize it.

(Some angels are uncomfortable with the idea of bond mates or forming attachments that may rival their commitment to the Celestial Realm or Father. For the longest time, it was considered a taboo topic in polite conversation despite angels having very little control over the process once those feelings already exist for someone else.)

Angels that are bonded feel a natural pull to each other and are driven by instincts that may only resonate on a subconscious level. Similar to their Devildom counterparts, these instincts drive them to demonstrate their thoughtfulness and loyalty through various gifts or acts of service throughout their lives:

Eating meals together and cooking for each other.

Using their talents to make gifts: poems or artwork, flowers, music and dancing, or cooking/baking.

Creating matching (custom) jewelry or clothing that can be worn with their regular attire.

Sharing a bed or room, when most angels have their own living quarters and sleep alone.

Bonding tropes are commonly referenced in Celestial literature in lighthearted stories of love and friendship. In the human world, angels publishing their work changed the language slightly to fit human ideas of love and fantasy, adopting the term soulmates and similar clichés as part of their story-telling.

BOND SICKNESS

Another popular trope in Celestial literature, bond sickness is a fictional illness suffered by two or more angels whose subconscious connection has been damaged. The cause of this varies wildly from prolonged physical distance/forced separation to severe trauma or death.

The symptoms that manifest because of this ailment vary from mild to severe. Conflicting symptoms makes it even more challenging to identify whether bond sickness exists. In the most popular tragic stories and poems, some of the many side effects include:

Intense bouts of sadness or anger

Increased or decreased appetite

Insomnia or oversleeping

Physical weakness and fatigue

Mood swings, mental instability and psychosis

Violent tempers and increased aggression

Increased risk of corruption (by the demonic)

According to stories with bond sickness, there is no obvious cure or treatment; it is simply a matter of bearing the pain and hoping time helps heal those hidden wounds. In some stories, the bond is restored after a dramatic turn of events. Another classic twist in Celestial literature portrays one angel in a broken bond who eventually recovers while the other does not. Influence from the human world has led to writers in the Celestial Realm to use terms such as star-crossed lovers when publishing stories with this theme as many of them have tragic endings.

The complex soul magic of bonding is still somewhat controversial and its true impacts are unknown. Bond sickness is mostly disregarded as the stuff of fairy tales with little evidence that it truly exists at all.

Angels that have exhibited symptoms of undiagnosed bond sickness may include: Michael, Lucifer and his siblings, Simeon, Raphael, Belial, Azazel, Metatron and Habuhiah. Their symptoms were merely brushed off as grief/depression following a sudden, tragic loss, or the after-effects of being cast out of the Celestial Realm and becoming a demon.

Hey friends! I recently found out that Dog Splash, our area's only indoor dog pool, is struggling financially and may have to close its doors by the end of January. There is currently a GoFundMe set up by a volunteer of a local rescue, in hopes to help support them through this.

We love Dog Splash and would be devastated to see it go! We only just became customers in November and already it's become a beloved part of our routine. Dog Splash provides an invaluable service to the community, this is the only place like it anywhere in the area. Providing a safe and welcoming environment for dogs to swim year-round, all for a reasonable price, this is not only great fun and excellent exercise and enrichment in general, but also wonderful low-impact exercise/physical therapy for older dogs/those with orthopedic issues, like my Maple, who loves to swim!

And under the new management that acquired the business a year ago and worked so hard to turn the place around in the past year, they are even willing to accommodate our fearful reactive dog Juni too, so I really hope to get to bring her in soon! For those with reactive dogs, you know how hard it can be sometimes to find safe places to get your pups the exercise and stimulation they need. All dogs deserve opportunities for fun and enrichment, and Dog Splash does not discriminate and helps to accommodate and provide that opportunity for all, in a safe and welcoming manner.

Hevnoraak: The slave-keeper and coordinator for the clergy. Obsessed with immortality, he sought out the Blood Matron and was made a Cold-Harbour vampire by Lamae Bal. Lord Harkon would be a long-time follower of Hevnoraak's, and his daughter, Serana, would be chosen by Hevnoraak on the 20th of Frostfall to become a Daughter of Cold Harbour.

Morokei: The eccentric and quietly sadistic Cardinal of Labyrinthian. Quick to betray Akatosh in favor of upholding the cult's reign. Believes himself to be a higher power than Alduin. Seeks to become a God.

Morokei would spend his twilight years obsessively attempting to tie his power to the Eye of Magnus. Due to this, in the early 4th era, the Staff of Magnus would appear in Morokei's tomb, granting him the power to wake as a Lich.

Krosis: The Funeral Bishop, Krosis was responsible for providing proper funeral rites and burials for all members and those in service to the clergy. He was also chief embalmer, and managed the clergy's soul gem supply.

Krosis's brother joined the rebellion, but his time was short-lived. Suffering from vocal cord malformations since birth, his brother was unable to shout and was quickly killed in his first battle.

Krosis would bury his own brother and kill himself beside his grave. Despite this being a betrayal in the eyes of the clergy, due to his many years of honorable service, he was permitted to be buried in his mask beside his brother.

Temple Dragon: Krosis did not have a temple dragon, rather he traveled between many temples to perform funeral rites.

Volsung: Volsung possessed a vested interest in the Dwemer and gilded his mask with Dwemer metal. In the clergy he was primarily responsible for managing and negotiating supply chain activities. He enjoyed puzzles and was inspired by the Dwemer's intricate puzzle designs, building his own in the halls of Volskygge.

His relationship with the Dwemer would betray him; they killed Volsung after he tricked them: his mask for three Centurions. In lieu of his own mask, he presented them with a wooden mask.

Infuriated by Volsung's death, Vulthuryol, his temple Dragon, would raze Alftand, destroying the city, but was soon after captured and imprisoned in Blackreach.

Rahgot: Despite being named "Anger," Rahgot was measured and highly respected during his initial reign. Forelhost was well known for alchemy and many famous alchemists studied with Rahgot and his masters. Being on the border of Morrowind, Forelhost acted as a trading post for Chimer settlers.

At the end of the dragon war, Forelhost was one of the many temples left without a temple dragon. By the 1st era, Rahgot had become cruel and violent in a desperate attempt to keep his subjects from staging a coup.

Following the Siege on the Dragon Cult, Rahgot was ultimately killed by a rogue group of subjects who had been hastily given a lighter dose of poison by Forelhost's court alchemist.

Otar: Once a respected Nord Leader, Otar was driven mad by the aspect of Sheogorath and sought to join the dragon clergy. He briefly studied with Ahzidal in order to enhance his skill in enchantment.

He was initially outright rejected by the Clergy, a fact which infuriated him. Out of anger, he crafted and enchanted his own mask and accoutrements. He began running several cutthroat mining operations, especially malachite. This was eventually noticed by Nahagliiv, a unique frosted-glass dragon, who chose Otar to lead his temple and receive a proper mask.

The Arch-Cardinal, he is the highest ranking member of the clergy and for many years possessed Konahriik before bestowing it upon Vahlok after The Acolyte Betrayals.

Living in seclusion, he was the last to hear of Alduin's defeat. Having failed his sacred duty to protect the World-Eater, he took his life traditionally, but not before taking a vow to return and set matters right.

Zaan Scalecaller: A shockingly young Priest at the age of just 16, Zaan Scalecaller was nothing but a milk maid when she was chosen by the dragon Thurvokun to lead his temple. Her brother to be brought into servitude to the clergy, Zaan drew her father's sword and challenged Thurvokun for his freedom.

Amused and impressed by her valor, Thurvokun became attached to the young Zaan. Her rule was one of relative peace and comfort for her subjects. The young Dukaan, an initiate, not yet a Priest, developed an affliction for Zaan. The two dreamed of defecting to the Eastern shore of Solstheim together along with Thurvokun.

In the early days of the dragon war, Thurvokun betrayed Zaan out of his own cowardice. Sinking into a deep depression, Zaan's subjects murdered her without resistance.

Vahlok the Jailor: Born and raised in the Dragon Clergy, Vahlok was a talented alteration and conjuration mage who studied under Ahzidal.

Following the death of Zaan Scalecaller, Vahlok was chosen by Odahviing to overtake her temple in his honor. His closest friend, Miraak confided in Vahlok that the Daedric Prince Hermaeus Mora had informed him the Clergy intended to kill him, his power as Dragonborn making him too dangerous to leave alive. Vahlok would betray Miraak's dealings with Mora to the Clergy, an action that pushed Miraak to sign a contract for his soul and begin the Acolyte Betrayals.

Vahlok would defeat Miraak and Sahrotaar at the Battle of Solstheim, and for his bravery would be granted Konahriik by Nahkriin. A peaceful and gentle ruler, he would spend his dying years wracked with guilt and grief over Miraak's entrapment. In his last days he composed the spellbook which would allow Miraak to make his escape attempt in the 2nd Era.

Ahzidal: Once the master wizard of Labyrinthian, Ahzidal's extreme PTSD led him to the brink of madness long before his dealings with the dragon cult. Despising elves, Ahzidal was responsible for setting Ysgramor upon Vokun's family.

Ahzidal would not defect during the initial Acolyte Betrayals, rather he would work with Miraak in secrecy. It would be Ahzidal who enchanted Firstblade, which was then blessed by Hermaeus Mora. Ahzidal, additionally, crafted the Acolyte masks.

He worked in conjunction with the dragon Krosulhah, who frequently traveled in and out of Apocrypha, to attempt to free Miraak in his early imprisonment. When Krosulhah's doings and subsequently Ahzidal's were discovered by Clergy leaders, Ahzidal finally fled to Solstheim, where he was imprisoned in Kolbjorn Barrow by Vahlok.

Zahkriisos: A member of Morokei's court, Zahkriisos would be so disgusted by Vahlok's betrayal of Miraak that he would defect alongside him, becoming the leader of Bloodskaal Barrow.

Despite popular legend, Zahkriisos was a fair and respected ruler who oversaw the Bloodskaal clan. Interested in unique magicks, he was directly responsible for developing Kinetic Runes, a child magic of Dragon Blood Runes which allowed the user to surpass the need for Dragon Blood by channelling Kinetic Energies through electrolyzed water bodies.

Dukaan: A talented ice mage, Dukaan had a vested interest in the arcane and spiritual properties of Stahlrim. Before his death, he decreed that he would wish to be buried near a potent Stahlrim source, that the All-Maker might consider his case and allow him to be with Zaan Scalecaller in death.

Having a secret relationship with Zaan, Dukaan would incorrectly blame Vahlok for her death, and as a result defected with Miraak during the Acolyte Betrayals. Morokei would curse him with the title Dukaan upon his defection, a name which he subsequently took as his Acolyte title.

Miraak: The Arch-Bishop of the Allegiant Guard, a team of five dragons and dragon-riders acting on aerial offense during the dragon war. Putting their most powerful mages on the backs of dragons allowed them to cast sweeping paralysis spells and quickly incapacitate sieges where succeeding in melee combat would have proven difficult.

Miraak earned his status as an Arch-Bishop when, during The Siege of the Eastern Front, the great Serpentine Dragon Sahrotaar parted the sea to wash away the Atmoran offense and proclaimed Miraak his Temple Priest. For his status as the only Priest under the command of a Serpentine, he was granted the tusked mask.

Miraak was brutally abused and brainwashed by Hevnoraak during his early years with the cult so as to preserve his lack of knowledge regarding his capabilities as Dragonborn. These memories were returned to him by Hermaeus Mora, infuriating him and driving him to sign a contract with the Daedric Lord.

i think something like season 8's moon big thing is going to happen again this season-

in several magical mountain people's recent episodes (i remember mumbo mentioning it a couple episodes back and grian as well? not sure who else) they've mentioned that something weird/something big feels like its happening in the world (grian even made a straight up moon big reference) but i think this time it's going to be something with the ocean

this kind of starts at the very beginning of the season and follows through. in grian's very first episode he calls magical mountain a volcano and that idea has followed through and now they're hollowing it out. in another episode when he gets flung up in the air he makes a moon big reference. soo early season ideas/references seem to be following through to now

in episode 2, grian gathers a crowd of people (gem, etho, impulse, skizz, ren, cleo, cub) and they all just chat and fish and make jokes about how the ocean can get you addicted to fishing and pretend the ocean is a higher being that will provide fishing rods to those it sees worthy (we also see it a bit in the end of grians episode 1) eventually leading to ren saying "i don't know why im doing this but i don't want to stop" and cleo agreeing. etho originally had also been skeptical but quickly got dragged into the shenanigans and very happy with getting lily pads for some reason? it's just a fun random interaction but some of those things can lead to lore.

etho also says in this interaction "dont drink the koolaid" because gem randomly suggests to all eat a pufferfish which i don't fully understand the phrase but it comes from a guy who made a cult and lured his followers out into a jungle (etho loves jungles) and because cults always have a like Date where they believe their higher power is coming to save them and commit mass suicide on that day, the guy made a lot of poisoned koolaid and everyone died. so cults

in gem's most recent episode (19) she builds an artists house and says the artist looks out on the water for inspiration but as a result has become quite paranoid.

in season 8 they have a cult of people not sleeping because they think the moon is a higher power come to save them or something and early season 10 was a cult of people fishing, not to mention that certain patterns seem to repeat every other season (season 7 and 9 were both really long, in season 9 people were nostalgic for season 7 and in season 8 people were nostalgic for season 6 and certain storylines that could have some parallels drawn not to mention that everyone compares season 7 and 9 for the length and says that they were incredibly long perhaps suggesting that this season might be a bit shorter? its also the fact that in season 7 and 9 everyone built Starter Bases and then moved out to larger bases but in season 8 and now season 10 they seem to have made starter homes and expanded on them while still living out of their day one builds)

What grief seeds are

Grief seeds are soul gems for witches. They are created when a soul gem contains too much despair. They are sometimes called a witches egg. A grief seed that has absorbed too much despair from a soul gem can also hatch a witch. Remember to give used ones to Kyubey!

What they do and why we want them

Grief seeds are used to clean soul gems. If a magi uses magic, their soul gem will get dirty, and they will be less powerful. A similar thing happens when feeling strong, bad emotions. It is important to clean your soul gem because it helps you stay strong and happy. Soul gems that are not cleaned are very dangerous. You could become weak and more vulnerable to witches, or you could turn into a witch yourself, which is a terrible fate!

How to get grief seeds

Witches have grief seeds, and defeating them is the best way to obtain them. However, not all witches give grief seeds, and no familiars give grief seeds. It is best to assume the worst and try not to use too much magic in case you don't get grief seeds when you were hoping to. Personally, I think it's better to target witches and ignore the familiars if your soul gem is extremely dirty. You won't be able to protect anyone if you are a witch. Another way I've seen puella magis get grief seeds is to provide services, such as being a coordinator. You might be able to trade something with another magi in exchange for grief seeds.

Grounding versus Adjustment

Puella Magi Madoka Magia Side Story: Magia Record introduces the idea of Adjustment: a procedure performed by a Coordinator or Adjuster that can be done to ‘enhance’ a magical girl’s Soul Gem. This enhancement can come in the form of removing impurities or unlocking further magical potential. Adjustment is also necessary when a magical hero uses their Doppel to avoid succumbing to despair.

Adjustment, as it is portrayed in Puella Magi Madoka Magia Side Story: Magia Record, is not a replacement for professional and personal therapeutic practices or experienced Shadow Work. I would strongly advise any magical hero to have a strong foundation in grounding and shielding practices before engaging in any serious work. If you’d like, imagine that your therapist, social worker, or other professional therapeutic practitioner is your Coordinator—they are there to provide you as a magical hero an essential service.

Grounding, on the other hand, is something any magical hero can do and is a foundational technique for any practicing magician. To put it simply, grounding is a way of eliminating excess energy and tempering high emotions that you may have stored up during a ritual or a working. If you have practiced centering as an energy technique, the fundamentals of grounding are simple: remember how you learned to manipulate energy when you learned to center? That's what you'll do to ground, only instead of drawing that energy inside you, you'll push it out—whether that is into the void, into an object, or to be carried off by the elements. Strong visualizations certainly help with grounding but also try something physical or tangible to strengthen its effects; try using your hands or your feet to push out that extra energy and feel it drain into the earth. You can also engage other senses in your grounding like by using cleansing herbs as an incense or spray, or by eating a comforting and antioxidant rich food like dark chocolate.

I often shield as well as part of my grounding practice. This helps protect my magical and physical body that may have become raw from high energy and emotions. Shielding is a way of protecting yourself from psychic, mental, or magical attack by creating an energy barrier around yourself that others cannot penetrate. When shielding, I do not completely close myself out from the world and others around me—I’m simply fortifying my defenses while I am recuperating.
