Yandere!Cheating Duke X Duchess! Reader X Yandere!Lover Servant
I just want to write a reader who has the same/more power as/to the yandere(s).
The setting is still in the fantasy/manhwa world, medivial, any setting as long it's not modern.
CW: two yandere, rivals, cheating, consent smut, infidelity.
I'm making the darling a little more forward(?), daring, more power or that can go against a yandere. Atleast, that's what the darling thinks. Also, this is not polished like my other stories.[ Forgive me, I'm not good with smuts! I also love y'all comments and your ask/request(will answer them soon!). The Yandere Emperor and Yandere Crown Prince son really outnumbered the yandere Omega. Y'all are crazy for that!]
MINORS DO NOT INTERACT
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Mistress." He murmured. His arms hadn't let go off your waist. It was the first thing your eyes landed on when the sunlight came in to greet a new day from the window balcony. You closed your eyes again to find your way back to sleep again.
Your hands went to trace his back full of scar last night from your nails. You hummed when he gave you a pepper kisses on your exposed skin.
"Morning." He gave you one last kiss on your lips before snuggling between your chest. His arms hadn't move around your waist since last night."Mmmh..morning..." You muttered looking away—eyes still close—from the sun when it kissed your face.
"Do you want me to call the maids to serve you breakfast?" His sweet voice lull to sleep more. You whispered no. Last night, this man gave you something akin to that of heaven, something your husband never gave you.
Last night, you made love with this man. The same man you rescued from the human trafficking, kidnapping commoner from the outskirts of the kingdom. Now, indebted by your kindness he devout himself to you with his life.
You groaned, feeling your body is aching all over. This goes not unnoticed by your lover."Did I hurt you to bad?" He asked. His earth orbs are gleaming with shine and now getting filled with tears. "I-I'm sorry, I was rough with you mistress." His voice full of regret and loathe on himself.
You opened your eyes, ruffling his curly brown hair before stroking it. Staring down at his eyes. "No. You did good." You smiled at him, cupping his face, before kissing him in the lips. He whimpered, deepening his into yours.
The intoxication of alcohol must have taken over you. Drowning yourself from the alcohol beverages after your husband didn't arrive on the scheduled date, you waited for him for a whole day to arrive. Alone in the gazebo, Everett was the one who went to your weeping figure. That was a month ago. Everett offered himself to shower you with his love. At first you feel reluctant about this, you will never be the type of person to use someone just so you can feel yourself happy. Everett didn't care about it whether you use him or not. He wanted to prove himself that you are worth to be love. This man made your heart flutter in a way that your husband once gave you before the marriage.
"I-I love what happened last night, my mistress." He whispered bashfully, his pretty swollen lower lip,you bitten hard last night, went to reach his eyes giving you a wide smile. The sun kissed his tan face adding a charming look. His neck has full of bites and bruises from you. His cheeks become a little darker shade from blushing, he must have reminisced something last night.
Now, you made him your lover. Though not completely in love with Everett. You also shower him with items or materials that most commoners would love to have but it doesn't seem like this man is materialistic. He just wants you.
You didn't hide Everett to your husband.
What's the use of hiding your fling to Theodore when he was the first one to cheat on this marriage?
Despite being loyal to that man you loved. He had the audacity to tell you that you shouldn't pry on his private his life after you confronted him with a newly hired maid going out. "Our marriage contract states that the two parties should not meddle one another's private life else this contract shall be annuled."
So all of his flexing his love for you was nothing but a hoax? A show? A lure for you to agree to marry him?
Though, your marriage with him was for the politcial marriage. You once fell in love with Theodore. The same man who gave you flowers everytime you two date, the same man who kissed in your cheeks after he walk you home, the same man who always writes poems about his devotion to you. Did he pursuade you to continue this marriage by making you love him so that the two duchy became one? It may seem like you wanted this marriage at first. You didn't, your family wanted it and they have asked you—no annoyingly, they plead you to marry him, because your parents and his parents signed a contract that their children will reunite the two duchy.
"Your ladyship, the duke asked for your audience to join him in the breakfast." Your butler from the other side of your room, outside the door, knocked and speaks after. You frown upon hearing it, looking at the closed door, what does he want?
You feel strange about your husband nowadays. He had been asking for your presence this past few days. Never once he called for you after your wedding with him.
You clicked your tongue and turn to look at your lover. You notice Everett's face was frowning too. "Tell the duke that I will be there in a moment." You announced to the butler outside the room expecting the old man to gear you through it. You look back at the man leaning his weight on you. You tap the curly haired lover to let you go from his hold yet he didn't budge after moving yourself to sit up instead you heard yourself going 'oomfh!' and finding your lips were on his again. You groaned while he moaned weakly. He pushed you down on the bed, his lips never leaving yours until you were out of breath. A string of saliva trailed between your mouths. Everett was smiling before diving his lips into your skin, to one of your chest, fondling the other. You feel a little ticklish and panting at his stimulation. "Eve—! Wait! Ah..." Your voices went unheard, The male's mewling, sucking on to your flesh like thirsty man who hadn't had a drink.
Your hand went to tug his hair as you moaned out his name. "Shi—Eve... Oh! S-stop... Ah.."
His other hand goes to put one of legs above his back and parted the other leg, accessing himself between you even more."m-mistress!"
You groaned when you felt him grind between you. He looked at you with a pleading eyes, he look like he will cry again, the tears filling up yo the side from his eyes. "M-mistress." He whined his mouth was already in another mound. You feel his hardness between. "p-please? I'll be good! Please... huff..I'll make y-you feel good!"
Your eyes are hazy from the pleasure. "You want.. hah... it?" His eyes getting filled again with tears. You tug him by the hair not enough to hurt him. You landed your lips on his ears. Panting and breathless when you felt his hands is still fondling your body. "You got..ngh... to earn it, pretty boy." You murmurs made him whimpered. "You have to be my good boy... Are you my good boy?"
He nod, a tear fell down to his cheeks, he leaned down to your lips, murmuring, i-am-your-good-boys, thank-yous and I-love-yous.
The room filled with noises that could make anyone flustered and uncomfortable. You didn't realize from your high you are feeling that the butler is coughing uncomfortably behind the door excusing himself as he will inform the duke what you told him earlier.
You went down the stairs with a difficulty, aching between your thighs. You can't find any dress to cover the one hickey on your neck, Everett apologize and helped you cover it with a foundation but it failed horribly from covering seeing that the foundation wasn't blend well and you do not want your maids do it for you. Not when you found out that almost all of them had already been with your husband. You were planning to replace them sooner.
You stopped at the closed door leading to the dinning room. The butler from earlier straightened his posture, clearing his throat after he saw you. He announced your presence behind the door opening the door for you."My lord, your ladyship is here."
You walked in after thanking one of the male servant for pushing the seat for you once you sit across the lord of the household, your husband, the Duke.
The breakfast before you was served cold. If you have arrived earlier you could have eaten warm. You glance at your husband, surprised that his plate has not been finished and it looked like he didn't touched it. You noticed his eyes is trained on to you since you came in, yet his eyes isn't on you but to your neck and the way you walk earlier.
His grey eyes seemed to be narrowing, he scoffed. "You're late."
You glance away, picking one of the utensil, stabbing the meat, landing it to your mouth chewing it. You gulped it down before taking another bite. The marinated pork seems to be delicious even if the breakfast a little no warm.
"It seems you are enjoying with your toy a little too much." He added, there was anger rising beneath his voice.
Oh, the egg is a little bland but it is still edible nonetheless.
"There are more new reports about your speculated infidelity to the public. Do you know that?"
You looked at him after eating the last piece of the sunny side egg, smiling: finally acknowledging his presence."Yeah, what about it? It's not like it will ruin our marriage. After all, you had a numerous of headlines about your 'rumored' infidelity too. Did our contractwas nulled after that? It didn't right?"
"(Y/n)."
"Yes, husband?"
His eyes widened a little before going back on giving you death gaze. "Kick that slave away. I don't like him." He demanded. Though he wasn't shouting. You frowned, how dare he?
"Why would I? It's my decision whether I choose to throw him out or not."
"I do not want him near my property." He complained, gritting his teeth at the last word.
"This is my property as well!" You sternly answered back. Not leaving another room for an argument.
There was silence between the room.
"... I... don't want him near you." You heard him. You blinked at the sudden word that blurted in his mouth.
You scoff standing up, "I think I should finish my meal somewhere..." You starts walking back to where you enter the room.
"(Y/n)." Theodore called you. You didn't observe the way his eyes longed for you. You were focus on the anger within you. "Are we forgetting something, Theodore?" You questioned.
He pondered, those orb you used to love held a confusion.
"Meddling into your partner's private life will annul this marriage... Wasn't that written in our contract?" You bitterly told him. "Sounds familiar right? Do not dare demand me to throw away Everett." You added.
Finally waiting for this moment for this to happen. Guess he will get to taste his own medicine.
"... As long as we do our part in this household we will act as husband and wife. Is not that what you told me?"
"..."
"Now then, I will excuse myself. I have no longer desire to finish my breakfast here." With that, you leave him there.
When you reach the door, opening it, you were surprise to see Everett waiting outside. "What are you doing here?" You asked him. Your frowned face was replaced with a confusion look before giving him a small smile. The man infront of you return your smile with a small grin, placing one of his arm on your waist."W-well, I feel bored and alone in my own room. So I found myself waiting here w-with the butler. Besides I saw you walking wobbly earlier and I-I am concerned that you might have even more difficulty walking... So f-forgive me for not staying put." The look concern on his face adding the pout from his lips made him look cute.
"What are you a puppy?"You poke his nose giggling as you walk away with him, your eyes went back to talk to the butler. Telling him you want to continue your breakfast at your garden, asking him to make it for a two people. The butler bowing to your order before going to the kitchen area to order the maid.
Your husband on the other hand, loath with rage and jealousy mixing under his eyes. His eyes narrowed especially when the slave you brought in leaned on top of your head kissing at the crown part of your head, leaning to your ear to whisper something akin to sweet talks. The arm around your waist went to rub your back.
If only you glance again on Everett's face. You would have caught him giving your husband a smug smirk.

tell emil you're bored of him and see what he does lol
alternatively, sneak out of the castle in the dead of night and never return
ON THAT THOUGHT, what would he do if you sleepwalk??? like maybe where you walk to reflects what you want to do but cant, for example sometimes it's to the library because you didnt get to read for like a week
i imagine emil would follow you a bit to see where you go to determine what he should do next day
and then one day it's just you trying to exit the castle, he finally open the door to see and you just walk further and further with no sign of stopping
he would panic so hard lol
i think if you were a really bad sleepwalker who kept trying to leave him he would tie you to the bed tbh. like you're not allowed to leave that's silly.
cw;; violence, yandere tendencies, gore, violence towards reader
pathetic emil step aside we have full yandere mode emil.

"im bored."
"im sorry what was that?"
"im bored. you're boring me."
emil lifted his head from his book and smiled at you a closed practiced smile.
"let me finish this page and i can find something to entertain you."
"no. i mean this is boring. us. you never let me leave, you only care about sex, and i don't have anyone to talk to."
emil's lips twitched.
"im sorry you feel-"
"i want to leave."
he put down his book completely and stared at you intensely. it was a gaze usually preserved for people he wanted dead.
"you don't mean that."
"yes i do."
you got up from the garden chair quickly followed by emil standing up.
"we can go somewhere else. we could go on a vacation. I'll hire you some approved friends."
"no. I've been thinking about this for a while. I'm telling you I'm leaving."
emil's hand came down on the table hard.
"no."
you could see his bright pink eyes darken as his face went blank. you weren't usually scared of your husband but you always knew you had reason to be. right now you certainly were. you tried to bolt for the entrance of the gazebo but all emil had to do was grab your arm with his inhuman strength and you couldn't move.
"emil it hurts..." you tried to whine pathetically but it didn't even reach his ears.
emil kicked you hard on the leg and you stumbled forward almost falling on the ground if not for him holding your arm up.
"i think you've had too much freedom. ive been too nice. i need to fix that."
"no- no- emil i was just joking! it was a joke!"
he looked truly intimidating, not even his signature sadistic smile on his terrifying features.
"you need to remember who loves you."
with his hand still holding your arm he stepped on your leg. you screamed in pain as he pulled your arm as leverage until your leg gave a sickening snap. but that wasn't enough as tears and pain overwhelmed your vision you felt him smash the broken bone with his foot. again. again. aga-
you lost consciousness due to the shock.
when you woke up you were in your shared bedroom but not on the large comfortable bed, instead you were laying on a dog bed with the most horrible pain in your leg while the other was chained to... a cage usually meant for monsters.

.............................................................................................
‘Good to see you, Agnes. Hope this wasn’t too much trouble.’
Ananya was sat in Jude’s car, on the way to his house. They had Saturday off and decided to spend the day together. Second proper date, exactly a week after the first one.
‘Not at all, ma’am. Good to see you too!’
‘Please call me Ananya.’
The chauffeur smiled - a well mannered, sweet, middle-aged gentleman. Then proceeded to tell her how Jude had also insisted to be called by his name, stating that Mr. Bellingham sounded like his grandpa.
‘Haha yeah that’s him.’
Agnes nodded, smiling fondly, encouraged by her interest.
‘He’s a fine young man. Always considerate. Sometimes too much so. Thankfully, his mother is around to manage his affairs. She’s the one who hired me.’
Normally, Ananya may have found such a mother-son dynamic & dependence problematic. A yellow flag even. But here, it seemed wholesome. A sweet Mama’s boy.
She wondered what his mother would be like. Then quickly dismissed the thought & the panic that generated. Too soon.
Agnes kept chatting along the way, sharing small titbits on Jude’s fan encounters - both sweet & crazy ones.
When they were about to reach, she felt a strange bout of anxiety. Last week had been heavy. At work & personally. Especially that rotten article & the aftermath. She fixed her attire & makeup to beat the nerves.
But when she opened the car door and saw him waiting on the porch, looking dashing in his off white jumper & joggers, flashing a million dollar smile, the anxiety evaporated.
Jude closed the distance in big strides. And she all but ran into his outstretched arms. How much they had craved this warmth & comfort all week.
His lips grazed the top of her head. She smiled into his chest. Man, he was tall, towering over her.
‘Hey beautiful.’
She sighed, and craned her neck up to look at the smiling boy.
‘Hey you.’
He leaned down, cupped one side of her face and placed a lingering kiss on the other cheek.
When he was about to lean in again towards her slightly parted lips, he saw Agnes standing uncomfortably on the side, carrying her bag & a parcel for Jude.
‘Thank you, Agnes.’
Jude took the items in one hand, while his other hand remained around her waist. She hid her face in his chest in embarrassment. The sound of his kiss still ringing in her ears.
‘We’ll be here a while, pls take the day off.’
Agnes nodded & left quickly as Jude led her into the house. The place looked different in the day - colours bright & visible with the ample natural light flowing in.
‘The weather is nice - wanna chill outside?’
‘Sure - just gonna take these off first.’
She bent down to remove her boots, wincing as the material scraped against her skin.
‘That bad huh?’
‘Oh it’s a torture chamber in here.’
She hated stiletto heels with a vengeance. But her roommate insisted this particular pair went perfectly with her attire and accentuated her butt.
Jude was hoping she kept them on. They looked stunning with her black tights. But that was before he knew they hurt.
He fetched a bag full of hotel slippers and laid it in front of her. She raised an eyebrow at him & he shrugged casually.
‘Kinda horde ‘em. Comfy.’
And man were they comfy. She found a pair that almost fit her and practically moaned in relief.
The backyard was cozy, with an outdoor pool, a covered gazebo and open garden.
They went to the gazebo and settled down on adjoining loungers, turning to their sides to face each other. His tall frame barely fit on it, legs dangling over.
Jude asked her about home, family & friends in India. And listened keenly as she chatted away, making mental notes to google a few things he didn’t understand.
He learned that she was a classical dancer, had grown up in Delhi and was a junior debating champion. And that she was one of her city toppers in high school. Her university stories particularly intrigued him, given he never got to go. She was also preparing to go to Stanford for an MBA in a few years & was working on her application. She was friendly with many but had a close set of core friends, much like him. Family was front & centre in her life too.
‘Must be tough, living away like this, all on your own?’
A tinge of nostalgia flickered in her eyes.
‘Am getting used to it.’
Jude reached over & stroked her cheek with the back of his fingers, then let his arm rest on her waist, playing with the hem of her deep purple sweater.
‘Your brother, older or younger?’
‘Older.’
‘Football fan?’
‘Nope. Out & out cricket person. He plays also.’
‘I played too, in school. Am not bad. Back home in Brum, quite a few cricket fans.’
‘Good for you.’
They fell into a comfortable silence, soaking in the early Nov Spanish sun. She closed her eyes, enjoying the siesta.
Jude couldn’t follow suit. Kept admiring her peaceful face. She deserved the respite, after backbreaking work & also what he had put her through. The media circus had taken a life of its own after that god-awful piece. But neither wanted to bring it up, determined to make today a happy day.
His gaze moved lower. To her slender neck. Grazed by a few loose strands from her messy bun. And a delicate golden necklace.
Few minutes later, he spoke up.
‘Listen, I know we said we won’t tell anyone.’
Her eyes flew open.
‘Yes. We said it’s for the best.’
‘Right. But, can we make one exception?’
‘Who?’
‘Jobe. He kinda senses something already, said I was being cagey af. And, he can keep a secret.’
He waited, unsure of her reaction. She would have been more wary if it were anyone else.
‘Look at it this way. At some point am gonna fuck up. Need someone sane for advice then. Gotta be him. He’s the smartest guy I know. Not you smart but still.’
She grinned, and he knew he had won. He seemed to have a way of making her give in.
They had their lunch outside, not wanting to move from their cozy spot. The wine lifted the spirits further. Jude usually didn’t have much alcohol unless on a break, but he decided to make an exception today. The lunch, though, was a healthy salad.
When he refilled her glass the third time, she poked a finger in his chest.
‘Tryna get me drunk?’
‘Always.’
She giggled, the wine starting to have its effect.
‘Then why did you get mad at me drinking that day?’
‘You weren’t safe then. Here, you are.’
Warmth rose in the pit of her stomach, as she aimlessly fiddled with the fabric of the sofa.
‘I’d like a different nickname though. My folks call me Judey.’
Ananya groaned, remembering how she had said it out loud that night.
Jude chuckled & leaned closer, tilting his head, enjoying her discomfort.
‘You call me that in your fantasies or…’
She put her hand flat on his face & pushed him away, as he wiggled his eyebrows. His booming laugh ringing through the air.
‘I’ll come back on the nickname.’
‘Let’s see if it’s better than dove.’
She rolled her eyes. This wasn’t a competition.
‘How old are you, 5?’
He smiled at how she had used his jersey number instead.
‘Say yes once, and I’ll show you how old I am.’
Insinuation dripping, rather drooling from his voice, and she turned his face away again, this time to hide her fluster.
3 blissful hours passed in a jiffy. Conversation flowing smoothly like their wine. It was only when the weather got a bit rough that they moved inside.
By then, the discussion had moved to who the bigger football fan was between the two.
‘Umm I kinda play professionally? For the biggest club?’
Ananya brushed it off.
‘And I have been watching them religiously for 15 years. What’s your point?’
They decided to play FIFA to settle the debate. Then argued over who gets to pick Madrid. After a long discussion, Jude agreed to play with Dortmund, claiming he was giving her a head start, dodging the cushion she threw at him.
‘What do I get when I win despite your advantage?’
‘IF. You mean IF.’
The casually cocky smirk returned. She wanted to smack that smug face. And….bite it at the same time? The boy was infuriating.
‘What do you want?’
‘You’ll wear my jersey.’
‘NO. Next.’
‘You’ll cheer for England when we play Portugal.’
‘You’re kidding right? Next.’
‘I’ll kiss you in front of that leech.’
She narrowed her eyes at him. How was he still on that?
‘On second thoughts, you’re a pro. So no, you get nothing.’
‘Chicken.’
‘Shut it & play.’
‘Not gonna go easy on you, dove.’
‘Never asked you to. Gonna beat your sorry ass Irrespective.’
‘Oh we’ll see.’
They started playing, and she gave Jude a run for his money. Enough for him to come out of the second gear where he was casually relaxing. Enough to get his heart rate going & armpits sweating. So much that when he finally won, he did his trademark celebration, punched his fists in the air & woo-hooed around the couch doing his victory dance.
She stared daggers at him, gobsmacked at the loss and him rubbing it in. Almost hoping that he trips and falls on his ass.
‘Told ya.’
He plopped next to her, smiling victoriously. Accent heavier in gloating. The gall of this man.
‘I had you in the middle, and you know it.’
‘Final result is what matters, and you know it.’
‘Tread carefully, Bellingham.’
She warned, still sulking hard. But of course he did no such thing.
‘What was it you wanted to do to my ass again?’
‘I hate you.’
‘A sore loser AND a liar? Whoa.’
‘That’s it. I am out.’
She got up to storm away but he caught her in two strides. Locked her arms around her waist. Caging her from behind. Giggling in her ear. She struggled fruitlessly in his grip, but dodged his attempts to kiss her cheek.
The more she fidgeted, the more his hold tightened. Pressed flushed against his taut, hard torso, with him breathing down her neck, was not ideal for her to stay pissed. Or sane.
When she quit struggling, he leaned down to kiss her covered shoulder.
‘So feisty.’
Jude muttered appreciatively, accent even thicker now. Her posture relaxed as she let herself loose in his arms.
‘Truce?’
‘Fine.’
He released her, and they walked back to the couch, hand in hand. It was 4:30 pm, still chunk of the day left. They decided to watch something together.
‘You pick.’
Jude pulled her close, throwing his arm around her shoulder.
‘You like rom-coms?’
‘Sure.’
‘Tell that to your face.’
He smiled sheepishly, turning his head to face her.
‘I mean, don’t mind ‘em.’
‘Let’s keep looking.’
She scrolled further in the trending list & landed on Bridgerton.
‘I’ve heard great things on this. It’s more than a rom-com.’
She figured he might like it, given the 19th century London backdrop. They decided to give it a go, settling against the back of the couch. Jude offered to watch in his room, the bed being more comfortable n all, but she politely wiggled out of that.
The sassy narration from Lady Whistledown immediately drew them in, along with the setting. The opening sequence with Daphne & Violet set the tone.
‘Ooh I like what she’s wearing.’
‘Ya it’s hot.’
Ananya turned towards him sharply, expression blank.
‘I mean…like…y’know…’
She broke into a laugh sooner than she planned.
‘You can say that. She IS hot.’
Jude bumped their heads together, glad to come out of the hole he had dug for himself.
‘So is Anthony though. Distractingly delicious.’
Yeah, he deserved that.
‘Like that scene with the tree…’
‘Don’t push it.’
He pulled her closer still, squeezing her shoulder. She let it go, for the time being.
The unique tone of the show kept them fairly engrossed. Yet they scoffed & laughed at the idiocy of some notions. Violet’s insistence on Daphne being prim & proper to attract a suitor, and keeping her in complete darkness of her sexuality particularly irked Ananya.
‘Typical. Treat women as decorative porcelain dolls in public view and sex objects / baby making machines behind closed doors. That’s all they are good for.’
‘Yeah, my country was stupid.’
Lady Danbury turned out to be a hands down fav of both - her wit & presence of mind unmatched. The courtship episodes they breezed through, giggling at the rigid & formal dance sequences of the genteel society.
‘Do you dance like that?’
‘Like that? No.’
Something told her there’s more to it.
‘CAN you dance, at all?’
He shook his head, waving his hands in the air.
‘It’s a tall person handicap.’
‘Isn’t Cama as tall as you?’
A pregnant pause, for 3 seconds.
‘He’s not actually.’
Jude removed his hands from her & sunk into the couch. She hadn’t even meant to tease this time, was just curious. Ananya leaned into his side & tugged at his elbow.
‘Wanna dance with me sometime? I could show you some stuff.’
That got his attention. He stopped pouting when she caressed his arm.
‘I am learning Salsa, it’s quite fun.’
‘Well, I can be quite a handful.’
‘Oh I can handle you.’
His smirk returned, as did his arm around her.
‘Can you now?’
They bickered & flirted, then resumed watching. Time flew by as they binged through, managing to squeeze in an early dinner when they felt peckish. Neither wanted to call it a night, not yet. Too cozy and carefree in their little cocoon.
Episode 4 & 5 had them firmly sucked in, with the engagement & marriage drama.
Episode 6 though, hit her like a truck. Making her hyperventilate.
Ananya squirmed through the emotionally & sexually charged honeymoon scenes, while his fingers stroked her upper arm throughout. She felt his eyes boring into her but kept hers firmly ahead. The air had suddenly turned hot & heavy, not just behind the screen.
‘Maybe..that’s enough for today? It’s getting late.’
‘Sure.’
The screen paused at the couple in a passionate embrace, as they made love outside, in the rain.
Another pregnant pause.
‘Tell me, how didn’t she get that he wanted her all along? It was so obvious.’
Jude’s hand moved up and down her arm, slowly. She felt every touch through the thin fabric of her sweater.
‘He could be with anyone he wanted. She doubted how she could be the chosen one. IF she was the chosen one.’
He turned her slightly to face himself, her eyes glued to her fumbling hands.
‘She got him TO HIS KNEES. Man was tortured by her thoughts. Surely, she could see that?’
‘Even if she did, it would be hard for her to believe. That…that he would just…change his ways. Just like that. For….her.’
His index finger tilted her chin up, gazing into her glossy, tentative eyes. His voice certain, laden with promise.
‘Men change when they find a reason to. He found his.’
That hit her deep in the heart.
‘I…SHE….she may not know that.’
His thumb moved along her jaw, eyes firmly locked with hers.
‘How should he show her then? Other than saying it a 1000 times already?’
‘Jude pleas..’
Her voice died in her throat when Jude hooked his arm under her legs and pulled her on to his lap, setting her sideways on his right thigh. Her arms went around his neck instinctively, to steady herself.
All pretexts and charades were dropped as he linked their foreheads together. His warm breath fanning her face. The heat radiating from his body, his proximity, burning her to the core. A culmination of all their little looks, touches, whispers & innuendos exchanged during the day.
‘KISS ME. Before I go mad.’
His commanding, raspy voice did things to her. Unspeakable things.
‘Now, dove. I know you want to.’
She met his gaze, and found a hurricane brewing in his otherwise serene eyes, sweeping her along.
Ananya cupped his cheeks, admiring his handsome features. Her lips brushed along his hairline, ending with a chaste peck on his forehead. Her thumbs stroked his eyebrows & eyelids, back & forth. Eliciting a sigh.
Her fingers ran down his cheeks, caressing the moles & tiny zits. Covering them with butterfly kisses. Jude couldn’t remember when he was last touched so affectionately. When he last wanted to be touched like this.
She kissed the tip of his nose, & his lips puckered up, thinking they would be next. The girl had other plans.
She held his jaw & tilted it upwards, running her fingertips over his soft yet scratchy beard that ran deep into his neck. His long, tempting, seductive neck. Driving her wild.
Her fingers dug into the flexing, meaty muscles at the back of his neck as her mouth traced the length of it.
‘FUCK!’
He groaned loudly, both hands gripping the couch, hard enough to rip.
She continued her ministrations, too hypnotised to stop.
Jude had vowed to be patient tonight. But when he felt her teeth on his Adam’s apple, he decided playtime was over.
He grabbed the side of her face, pulling it to him.
She whined at the interruption, trying to go back down. His grip tightened.
‘ENOUGH. My turn.’
Jude kissed her fiercely, knocking the wind out of her chest. As if getting back for the slow, sensuous torture. She tried matching his passion, but Jude wasn’t willing to cede control, not tonight.
His hand removed her clutcher, rummaging through her hair. While the other one stroked her thighs. She gasped, and he plunged further into her mouth. His scent, his breath, his strong hands, his taste, his god damn thighs under her butt, his ferocity -  drove her nuts.
Being the sole object of Jude’s desire was, quite simply, INTOXICATING.
Subconsciously, she wondered if all the other girls before her had felt the same. Or if this was indeed different, as he repeatedly claimed.
He soon pulled her out of the momentary coherence by fisting his hand in her hair & pulling them back, as his mouth feasted on her neck.
She mewled as he nipped & sucked her with abandon, soothing the reddened skin with his tongue afterwards.
Jude was testing waters, pushing boundaries, to see how far she’d let him go tonight.
His sinful voice joined the party.
‘Tell me where you want me. Say it.’
She could only whimper in response, mind too mushed up to string together words.
‘Here?’
He pulled her sweater down one shoulder, kissing the bare skin, tugging at her bra strap with his teeth.
‘Or down there?’
The hand on her thighs slid under her butt, cupping a cheek, kneading it firmly. Something he had wanted to do all day.
She panted into his neck, unable to function under his expert moves.
‘Feels good, dove? Want more?’
She jumped when his warm hand slid under her sweater, settling on her bare back. Large, strong fingers spread over her skin, playing with it, thoroughly covering the surface area. Making her shudder from head to toe.
Jude wasn’t unaffected either - the feel of her soft body making his restraint hang by a thread. What he wouldn’t give to just toss her over the couch right now.
His touch became more frenzied. Mouth more demanding. Hand inching further up her back, finding her bra.
She grabbed his bicep, coming out of her reverie. But it just spurred him on.
She somehow tore her mouth away from his, to get his attention.
‘Ju…ude.’
It came out as a shaky, breathless moan instead, flipping something in him. The next instant, her bra was unclasped & his hand roamed freely all over her back.
The sensation jolted her. She needed to act now, before he completely eroded her will.
Her hands grabbed his face, desperately, dragging him up, meeting his stormy eyes.
‘Wha..’
He looked dazed, confused at the interruption. Lips parted, half-panting for breath.
She stroked his cheeks while his adrenaline tapered down.
“Baby I….can we…pls….’
His senses recovered, and Jude pulled her gently into a loose hug. Swaying her lightly. Stroking her hair. While making shushing noises.
‘Okay. Okay. Anything you say, dove!’
................................................................................
All this Jude content just makes me write :)
A happy chapter, after the heavier last one.
As always, would love to hear your thoughts / comments / feedback. Hope you are liking the story & these two. There are a few dif ways this could go ahead, trying to figure!

i would love if we got to see what the proposal in the garden was like!!!!! <3
bed of roses |young!coriolanus snow x capitol!reader|
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
prompt: as requested above, coriolanus' proposal to you.
contains: kinda dark/posessive coriolanus. capitol!reader. duke!reader who is a rothschild type. slight oc?? no descriptor but mentions oc names. fluff. nervous coryo.
A simple luncheon.
That’s what you were told. A Sunday tea with your family and Coriolanus’, just like they did in the Old World. Your Grandmatron had insisted on it, and in classic Duke style, what she said went. The drab chic of Capitol fashion was forgone for the afternoon, opted in for bright frills and patterns that went out of style long before you were born. A classic, still, for Sunday luncheons in spring. Your mother had your dress custom made, a blush pink that stood bright and radiant amongst the shades of soft cyan and muted marigold.
Coriolanus had arrived in a linen suit, neatly pressed with amber buttons that stood out beautifully against the white suit. You had no doubt Tigris had made it, the telling touch of the cerulean pocket square that mirrored his eyes.
He seemed tense, when he kissed your cheek in greeting. Chaste and respectable, but his hands felt clammy when they took yours.
Unbeknownst to you, Coriolanus was feeling the weight of the world sitting at the table. His family’s legacy, his own future crushing on his shoulders. The small ring in his pocket felt like an anchor. Coryo wondered if this is what the tributes felt like, before their name was called, standing at the Reaping, knowing that at any moment their life could change for the better or for the worse. Their fate in someone else’s hands as his was now.
“Are you alright?” You whispered, leaning into him gently at the table, your hand brushing his thigh under the table. Coryo jumped with surprise, further drawing your suspicions.
“Yes,” Coryo’s voice was tight, heart lurching in his chest. He turned to you, offering a tight lipped, half smile that was a poor attempt at convincing you. “I’m alright. Just ate a big breakfast.”
You frowned, but brushed it off when he took your hand in his, squeezing it affectionately under the table. Your body burned, electric with excitement at the intimacy of the action.
Coriolanus couldn’t seem to swallow down the raging anxieties he felt blooming inside his chest. The nagging fear that you might reject him.
Of course, he’d asked your father’s permission, elated when Atticus Duke granted it to him. The typhoon had even smiled, given him a half curled lip and a nod. “If you take care of my girl, I’ll take care of you, Snow.”
Now, his fate lay at your feet.
The rational side of his mind told him that you loved him. Of course, you loved him. You’d told him that endlessly. In the morning before he’d leave for the lab, or late at night between silk sheets.
As each second passed, Coriolanus grew more and more anxious. He caught your mother’s eyes, her knowing grin making his blood run cold. She assured him she’d have the garden prepared for this momentous occasion, hiring the whimsical Trinket’s to florist the garden. Bright flowers lining the walkway, lotus floating in the small pond, an archway of pink roses over the gazebo.
“Mother must be planning a party.” You giggled, your lace gloved hand in Coryo’s, strolling with him through the botanicals.
Coriolanus stiffened beside you. “Why would you say that, my love?” He tried to sound casual, but still, that demanding cut in his tone lingered still.
You looked at him, the sun illuminating his features, his hair as bright and light as the rays that blinded your vision. “The flowers.” You motioned towards the freshly planted lilies next to you. “She only ever goes this dramatic when they’re having a celebration of sorts.”
Coriolanus felt his stomach turn, hoping you couldn’t feel the way his heart skipped. “Perhaps they’re hosting the Reaping party this year?”
“Mm, perhaps.” Coriolanus nodded, taking a calming breath to soothe his nerves. Pull yourself together, Snow. You’ve worked too hard to piss it away now. Snow lands on top. She is your top. Don’t ruin it now.
“Would you like to join me?” Coriolanus stepped onto the gazebos stair that bore a fresh coat of paint. His hand extended to your own, a soft smile tugging at his lips when you took his hand.
“Hm,” Your head titled, looking at the array of roses above the entrance. “That’s odd.”
Coriolanus’ heart dropped. “What is?” His lungs squeezed, stealing every last breath from him.
Your eyes met his, brows furrowed with curiosity. “She used roses?” You tilted your head to the side gently. Coryo blinked at you. “Mother never uses roses outside. Says it’s gauche.” You shrugged.
Coriolanus burned. He’d suggested it when she’d asked. Now, he wondered if it would all be ruined. One tiny slip up, and he’d blown it all.
“It’s beautiful today.” The small sigh of content you gave stole him from his own worrisome thoughts. Your head tilted back, holding your small head piece so you could bask in the warmth of the sun- rare in the Capitol.
“It is.” Coryo agreed, stepping beside you. He wondered if your father had somehow managed to pay for the sun to shine. He certainly could afford to. “Nearly as beautiful as you.” He whispered, breath hot on the shell of your ear, leaving you shivering.
“Coryo,” You blushed, cheeks burning with adorning heat.
“I mean it.” Coriolanus nodded, a hand sliding over your waist at a respectable placement, yet still affectionate. He knew your family was watching after all. “You always look so radiant. Always manage to steal my breath right from my lungs with your beauty. You have since the first time I laid eyes on you in Twelve.”
Your chin ducked, hoping to hide the fluster of your cheeks. “You’re being playful, Coryo.” You muttered, eyes cutting up to meet him, hidden by the netting of your fascinator in your hair.
“I am not.” Coryo shook his head, hand sliding over his pocket, feeling for the ring there. It was now or never, time to face his destiny. “I am entirely serious, my love. You have always managed to captivate me with your beauty, your humor, your kindness.” His hand took yours, pulling you closer to him.
Your eyes shone when they met him, filled with a lovestruck, glossy gaze. It encouraged him, sending that final surge of confidence to deliver the speech he’d practiced endlessly for weeks now. His tongue felt numb in his own mouth when he said your name, tongue rolling over each syllable as if he wanted to savor each one.
“There has been no other like you in my life before, and I hope there never will be.” Coriolanus' hand tightened around your waist, pulling you closer to him. “You’re all I’ve ever wanted, all I’ve ever dreamt of, gone far beyond my own imaginations with your perfection.”
“Coryo,” You choked on your tears, eyes shining with emotion.
“Please,” Coryo stepped away, though his hand never left your own. “I could speak forever about how perfect you are to me, and there still would not be enough time to capture how much I adore you.” Coryo paused, leaning forwards to look deeply into your eyes. “How much I love you.”
Your heart skipped, racing like the wings of a hummingbird when he dropped to one knee. An outdated tradition, sure, but one he knew you cherished. One he knew your family would approve as well.
“I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” Coriolanus said, hand sliding into his jacket pocket to retrieve the ring, hoping you didn’t see how it shook. “I can’t imagine a life without you. I don’t want to live a life without you. I want you beside me through it all. When I command this entire country, I want you to be there with me.”
Your tongue swelled, head swimming when you caught a glimpse of the dazzling sapphire ring. Coriolanus’ mother’s ring, you knew that much. He’d mentioned it only a few times in passing. You knew what it meant to him, what she meant to him.
“I don’t want to be without you ever again.” Coriolanus continued, the ring pinched between his fingers. “I only want you, my petal. So will you do me the greatest honor of my life?” His eyes rounded so sweetly when he asked, a new side of Coryo you’d never experienced. “Will you marry me?”
Your chest burned, suffocated with tears and emotions that wanted to explode out of you. Your silence made Coryo’s own heart drop, fear filled with damning reality.
“Yes,” Your voice cut through your thick tears before he could spiral completely. It felt nearly fake, like he’d imagined it.
Then, you nodded. Head bobbing, uncaring at how the small hair piece shook, sliding through your locks. Coriolanus was sure he was in shock, ears ringing with uncertainty. “Yes?” He whispered.
Your nod made his shoulders drop with relief, heart beat thundering through his body with aftershock. “Yes,” You croaked, sniffling wetly. “Yes, Coryo. Yes, I-I will marry you.”
You surprised him next. Overwhelmed with emotion, your hands cupped his face, pulling him in for a sweet, nearly sloppy kiss. Lovesoaked with a powerful emotion that overcame you. Coriolanus faltered, eyes cutting towards the house, burning with embarrassment. It was so improper, and he knew your family was watching him- judging him.
Coriolanus stood, breaking the kiss, not missing the look of disappointment that flashed for only a moment over your features, before he took your hand. He took his time pulling each finger off the lacy gloves, swallowing a smile at how you shivered with excitement before he slipped the ring onto your finger. It fit perfectly, almost like his mother was giving her own nod of approval to you.
His lips brushed your knuckles, before you pulled him back into you, a sweet kiss, more respectable this time- appropriate, so he allowed it. Coryo’s chest boasted when he walked back into your family's home, smug at how you showed off your ring proudly, beaming with pure joy at the news. The rest of the afternoon was spent chatting about wedding details, dates and plans, while Coriolanus planned his own.
Not your wedding- no, he’d leave that to you, but his own future plans. How he’d run Panem, when your father would appoint him, his first actions as President. His own future, out of your hands, and back in his clutches now.

Another few more months with the year ending, and another would mark the end of five years. Despite being bedridden, it had made you uneasy since spending the luxury time doing nothing had made you naught. Yumi and the personal servants who you had personally hired for your inner circle inside the castle had been keeping you posted up about your businesses from the outside. Everything was going well.
Holding the reports over the fire, it lights up when the corner catches, "I'm gonna leave for a bit." You told Yumi, who was alarmed by you.
They started to panic, "You already received your reports saying all is well; you shouldn't move around a lot." Yumi tried to sway your mind, but you had already stood up from your bed and in front of your long mirror.
With your arms stretched out, the personal servants you hired from the outside who knew about your secret come to your aid. They swiftly took off your attire and replaced it with your pseudo outfit. You rarely snuck out, but today you feel rebellious. Staying in bed may get you sick in staying in bed.
You turn around to grab Yumi by the arms and put her in your futon, "Stay here and be good." With a soft smile, you open the door and poke your head out and look around for a particular male valet. Outside, your room was quiet; everyone was prepping for dinner now and cleaning the dining area to feast later. "Where are they?" And right on cue, their eyes met yours when appearing from a corner, and they understood immediately when you nodded at them.
With the quick perception of their view, their feet race towards you. "Everyone is busy; it should take about two hours at most." They informed you with a bow, their gaze not meeting yours.
"Good," coming out of your room, your feet glide across the polished wooden boards as they tail closely behind you. Behind every castle are secret walls; you happened to know it by accident during your research days as becoming Seijuro Hajime. It somehow comes in handy now.
After making swift turns around the halls, you stop right in the middle of a wall that is made of a stack of jagged stone slabs building on top of another; its color that was once in the shade of grey birch is now darkened with tints of green. Its gap of lines was filled with green and yellow moss and heavy, unruly vibes hanging from above. The area you'll frequent quite a lot is an abandoned wing rumored to be a gorgeous garden but is now defiled by aging neglect. The large pond that was filled with colors of Koi fish is now empty with weeds and putrid water that is left behind by the rain. Chip redwoods of a bridge leading to a roofless gazebo that represents the heart and main attraction of the pond. Overall, everything is in bad condition.
Your fingers smoothly ran along every crevice and protruding bump of each slab, and it wasn't until you reached the smaller rock with a small mark that could go unnoticed under the human eyes if no one was paying attention to it. Faintly remembering the details at the back of your head, you push the rock, which caves into your strength.
There was a low rumble from within the walls, and debris fell from above the shaking forces. The wall split into two, and faint mechanic whirring gears could be heard. Torches mounted on the wall spring into life as each illuminates the dark long descending stairs ahead of you. Red wooden beams were worn for ages, also holding the tunnel. A faint smell of wet, sticky residue lingers in the air.
Well, that's ominous. You turn around to face the valet, and they bid you a half farewell, "Stay safe." Nodding at them, they press another adjacent block to the opening block, and the doors come sliding close.
You descend the stairs and follow one pathway until you reach the middle, where it diverges to three; if you remember, you should take the one on the right. It also says in the blueprint that there is a trigger for activating traps; right in the center is a hanging bell above. If the bell is cut loose, all the mechanisms within the walls will run. You eye the old rusted bell that is darkened with a barely color of copper resembling it.
°
"Did you miss me?" Someone throws themselves and wraps their arms around your neck behind you. You place a hand on top of the table to save yourself from toppling forward face-first into the food. The cup of warm tea of amber liquid spilled over your nimble fingers. Their scent entered your nose, and it was the same person you bumped into before. "You know you're very hard to find; I scoured the whole city." Sliding their arms around, that now occupied your arm, they sat beside you as if they were your lover.
Personal space for you is also gone.
You patiently set the cup down and grabbed the rag near the portable stove that warmed the teapot. Wiping away the spilled remnant, you inch away from the clingy woman by loosening your arm, but she only tightens it with a pout. For some reason, you don't think you understand the choice a young woman like her makes to try to be cute to get their way. I mean, you're a woman. That's why you're probably immune to it.
In the first place, you only came out here to be a spectator since, within your report, there should be two high clans born male heirs trekking through the city that Sukuna rules from Yuichi. But you doubt you can complete your task today if you don't do anything.
"It's rude not to look at the person talking to you. Do you know who I am?" They tugged your arm. "My older cousin runs this city, and I could have your head, too, you know?" It looks like it will be hard to get your attention, "My cousin is Sukuna Ryomen."
Upon hearing his name, you tried to remain indifferent, but you only let out a small huff of a laugh. 'This should be interesting to pass the time.' The woman thought throwing her cousin's name around would add weight and make her cave in, but it seemed to be doing the opposite effect. Without her knowing, you decided to amp up a charming facade. "The Sukuna Ryomen?" You turn your head to face her, and the coy smile that split across your lips made the woman frown. Why aren't you scared of her? "Do you know," you stare into those pomegranate eyes that share the same color as Sukuna, "throwing your cousin's name around isn't safe too? You're making yourself a target for-" your eyes roam around the room. A few people were looking your way, and the woman noticed it too and flushed red, "-those to take advantage of."
"If only you looked at me when I asked!" Kiriko fumbles out an excuse, and her face becomes hotter and red.
This makes you decide to toy with the woman. Since she has a relation to your supposed husband, it would be easy to probably get the information right if you knew how to ask. Although you think you wouldn't be able to, it's not hard for you to play around with her. "From what I heard, he isn't a good man."
"What do you know about him?" She bites back.
"He plays favorites with certain people, and there's this special wife he's rather fond of." You quip to get a reaction from her, and it seems to hit the mark. "I saw her a few times, and she's lovely that many of these city and village folks adore her. Got to say she's a woman after my own heart if she wasn't married."
"You shouldn't like her!" Kiriko jealousy spouted, and with a tug of your arm towards her, you thought she might yank it off its socket. "She might be pretending to be nice to make people like her! You should like someone genuine like me!" She declared, and this made you snort another laugh. A woman jumping the horse, it seems. You don't know what she has heard about you, but it is pretty amusing. "What? You don't believe me?" Now she sounds offended.
"It's not that I don't believe you," wanting to tease her more, you swoop in closer to her, "but I don't believe in tarnishing another person just on baseless rumors or what they have or heard against her." Kiriko shrinks back from the sudden closeness. She was quiet, and then you turned your attention away from her. "Sir," you raise a hand to pay for your tab. Once they're near, you drop the payment into their outstretched hands.
Sliding your arm out of their hold, you lighten up your pace with the woman chasing after you. "Wait!" They shouted after you, and you made eye contact with a nearby seller who understood what you indicated. The seller grabbed a bucket of water and poured it onto the ground right after Kiriko was close enough to be after you. Kiriko shrieks out when the lower half of her attire is wet. "Watch where you throw that dirty water, you peasant!"
"Ah, I'm sorry, Miss." They awkwardly apologize.
Kiriko bites the bottom of her lip and looks at your back; you don't even turn around to check if she's alright. She watches your figure disappear into the heads of an endless crowd with a little bit of resentment. She'll make you look her way no matter what since she wants to take you back to her homeland as a spouse by the end of her stay, even if it's by force.
[at a random inn]
"So what's the deal?" You suddenly appeared by Yuichi's side, who got slightly spooked.
"You got to stop doing that," the man told you; he put a hand over his chest. You only laugh and cross your arms before looking below from the second floor. Yuichi saw you spectating two males who stood out like a sore thumb in the crowds of primary cotton colors clothing of grey, dark grey, and brown. "I thought you weren't going to come?"
"And miss this glorious sight?" You humor Yuichi but cut it short too. "I must return to the castle soon, or my covers blow. So who are they?" Motioning the two rich strangers talking lowly to one another, Yuichi tilts his head slightly toward you.
"The one in deep indigo is Totsuwa Iriyu; from my sources that I have people gathered around, his family used to serve the Emperor before they fell from grace. The funny thing is your husband was involved with their family, and there were speculations that he took them off from the Inner Circle of the Emperor Hoshu." Yuichi explains, and you thought that might be something Sukuna would do. "And the one in dark green is Mugetsu Rintoru, and he's that buddy, in the deep indigo best friend too. He also has a problem with your husband too."
"Everybody seems to have problems with Sukuna; I'm unsurprised." Amusement dances across your lips, "How long are they planning to stay?"
"Approximately up to three weeks since they did get an invitation from Sukuna." Now that made you raise an eyebrow.
"Guess invitation isn't what is going in their mind too; nobody comes here in Sukuna's land with no pure thoughts since he is the most sought after when it comes to wealth. And revenge." You then un-latch your arms and pat Yuichi's biceps. "I'll approach them in my time, but keep an eye on them."
°
Your servants all scamper away when Sukuna walks through the hall; they all refuse to look up but still greet him in acknowledgment. But the one that felt like they were getting a heart attack was the one who was your spies. Sukuna had come to pick you up for dinner quite early. They all gave each a look to see who would intercept him. There was a back-and-forth motion of 'No, you' between the servants. But it wasn't until Sukuna positioned himself in front of them they all hesitantly looked up.
"L-Lord Sukuna, Lady (Name) is still resting." One squeaks out in fear; despite being hired by you, they still fear Sukuna.
"Move aside," he commanded.
"She wishes not to be disturbed, My Lord." The same person quickly interjected.
Sukuna clicked his tongue, "Do you wish to die?" He glowers down at them, and they all shrink back. "Now. Move. Aside." Sukuna said each word with heavy and daunting syllables, and the servants sidestepped demurringly. If their heart could leap out of their chest, this would be the best time.
Before Sukuna could open the door, it slid open, and there was you. "What's with all this commotion?" You don't need to look at your servants who tried to stop Sukuna lets out breaths of relief. Sukuna peaks over your head and sees books lying on your table.
Sukuna: "Thought you were resting, no?"
You: "I did; I woke up a while ago."
Without further ado, you try to bypass Sukuna, but he takes good of your hand. You wanted to rip it from his hold without causing much fuss, but he tightened his grip. "You seem well enough now; your colors are back." He took steps with you side by side.
"You are already starting to make me sick," exasperation released from your voice when you tugged your hand again, and Sukuna tutted at you.
"There's that tone that I've missed," he purrs, and if he's successfully getting under your nerves, he's doing a great job. You were clenching your jaws. "I've got something to show you after dining too." From his tone, Sukuna was rather excited; it was only a slight pitch lighter.
[excution field]
A heavy fur coat was draped around your shoulders. You don't understand why he brought you here right after eating. Most of all, the execution ground. You got a hand to cover the smell. Sukuna leans heavily behind you with his arms encasing you; somehow, this feels familiar, like that one day. Once again, you attempted to shrug him off, but it always made him want to be closer to you.
There was fresh blood over the dried blood; even the stench of death couldn't be erased from this place. You never really visited the site; this was the first time in five years you had set foot on the ground where innocent sinners came to die by Sukuna's final resolution. "I like you to be the first to witness something that could lead me to more winning conquest." He said, leaning his head low and letting his lips touch your ears; Sukuna's breath fans over one side of your face. You silently tilt your head to look up at him; questions linger in your eyes.
Sukuna was jittering in excitement, and this was something. You rarely see him like this; he can be proud and loud within his moments. This is something new. He's barely contained.
Sukuna lets himself be away from you, which makes you inwardly happy. "Bring it out!"
It didn't take two frightening retainers to bring out a wooden craftsman box. Sukuna flipped the lid open, and inside, it was presented to be some long metal rod with wood attachments. You were observing not too far away from Sukuna. Sukuna lifts it out of its case and settles an aim. "Get the prisoners too." You recognize that black powder from anywhere when Sukuna pops the lid open and pours it into the opening of the barrel. Then he used a rod to push the powder more profoundly into the narrow tunnel before setting the breech on fire.
"What are you doing?" You ask him; somehow, dread-filled your chest when you saw three people lined up and tied to a thick wooden pool. You can hear their whimpers from where you're at.
"You'll see," was all he said; Sukuna leveled the weapon up and above over his shoulder as he aimed again, then pulled the trigger with a steady finger.
BANG!
The sound made you jump; you instinctively covered your ears in fright with your heart hammering, as did the people far and near to witness. Smoke came from the weapon, but it was pushed away and dissipated into the atmosphere by the wind. What you were looking at wasn't the weapon itself but the person tied to the wooden stake. Their head was blown clean right off, just from this distance where Sukuna stands.
Is this what he wanted to show you? The future? How it's going to be in his hand?
"Did I spook you? Sorry," Sukuna carefully put the weapon back into its case and walked toward you; he took your hands from your ears and slotted them into his own. Your eyes wouldn't move away from the headless corpse; it was stuck wide open, witnessing the scene. It wasn't until you blinked again and pulled your hands back from his hold then your curiosity overtook.
You: "What did you do to them?"
Sukuna: "It's obvious what I did, didn't it?"
You: "Yes, you did. I'm asking what kind of weapon was that."
Sukuna glances over his shoulder before covering the view by stepping to the side when you try to take another look. "I must admit, the Portuguese did come with something this time. It's a Matchlock rifle. It's one of the prototypes, not permanent yet."
"A rifle? You can kill someone from this distance?" Your furrowed brows and contorted face of confusion almost make Sukuna lose composure. This is undoubtedly the first time in a while that you have been interested in something and was willing to talk with him, without sassing back, of course.
"Even further, too," Sukuna confirm. "But like I said, this is just a prototype, not yet decided. I want to talk to the Portuguese and have a room ready for one of their men to stay behind and modify the rifle with me."
You: "Why modify it when it's already deadly enough as it is?"
Sukuna: "Not deadly enough to my liking."
°
You were back to your room and became a sitting duck again. 'If Sukuna could get that weapon, then we're screwed.' When evolution for weapons couldn't get any better or worse, you almost felt worried. Sukuna would indeed be able to conquer land much more and faster, but with that rate, even the death of others he's going to take isn't going to remain stagnant anymore.
More bloodshed and the lives of others will continue to bleed over this land of Japan.
"Get this letter to Yuichi as fast as possible tomorrow during your shift outside; we need information." You fold the letter with deft hands and give it to a male retainer. "Be careful."
"Lady (Name), you have a gift from Sultana Aida." Yumi hands you a box, and it is wrapped neatly. "It was sent earlier when you were in the...field."
You took the box and unwrapped the red sash around it. Sultana Aida has sent you self-care items, especially body oil, and cream. The scent was sweet and fresh, not overpowering enough to give you a headache. The oil inside the clear bottle was in a rich hue of gold, and the body cream was sealed tightly in a jar too. Sultana Aida had a penchant for making perfume and women's essential needs. You met them over a year ago during a foreign meeting.
"Send a gift back to her." You told Yumi, who nodded and went outside to where there is a room where you store all your possession and gifts.
[night time]
There was a fluid snap of your doors being open and closed; the person who always comes into your room as they please is Sukuna himself. Through the bronze mirror, you could see Sukuna in his loose attire, which exposed the skin of his partial chest once he was close enough to where the lantern light could reach. You applied the body cream you received today to your neck before Sukuna settled himself behind you and wrapped an arm around your waist and chin upon your shoulder.
You froze for a quick second. Sukuna closes his eyes in bliss to take in the scent. "This smells nice." Even if he notices your discomfort, he doesn't care at the moment, not right now. He nuzzles his nose closer until it presses against your neck, and the warm breath of his seeps through your skin and into the thinness of your night clothes. You close the lid over your body cream and set it aside.
"What do you want?" Your eyes remain on the mirror, which shows how relaxed Sukuna is; he got you in between his legs as they were propped up to where his knees were bending. There was a deep inhale from him.
"I can't even be here in my own home?" He inquired, "I'm here to spend the night with you." That made you decisively rip his arm off around your waist.
"No, you're not," you shot back and marched away from him to create a distance. "You have plenty of women in your harem who wanted to spend time with you," on the other side of the room, you defiantly look at the man, who gives you a lop side grin.
"I'm not bedding you, not right now." Sukuna restates your thoughts, "Just sleeping side by side." Your face was stoned, but it was enough for Sukuna to tell that you didn't believe him when your brows twitched. There was a 'huh' from you, and you were gunning for the door, and in a flash, Sukuna had you in his embrace again. Another momentarily struggle from you when you start to kick and tell him repeatedly to let you go. "Don't," he whispered huskily into your ear, "I won't do anything, I promise." The man carried you by the waist with both arms and settled down with you in a slump onto the large futon.
Sukuna loosened his arms, and you slithered away to the other side of the bed and got under the cover with your back turned to him. He wanted to push the boundaries, but he wouldn't. Getting under the surface, too, he remains still watching the slope of your curves highlighted by the sheet and your back rising and falling. Sukuna gathered your hair that was pools around the gap in between you both and played with the ends; he let them loop around his forefinger before running a thumb over the silk feeling of it. He then brings the strands to his lips and kisses them to bid good night to you.
Then the light went out.
°
You roll over in bed and bring the blanket under your chin to snuggle in deeper. But why did something feel heavy around you? There was difficulty opening your eyes, and when you did, sleep didn't completely fade away as drowsiness was still evident. If it weren't for the hand patting your back to lull you back to sleep, then you would've done so. "Go back to sleep." With a heavy grave tone that slinks into one of your senses, the haze of sleep washes away. Angling your head up, you see the fondness in Sukuna's eye and push him away in shock with an 'ack,' and Sukuna only rolls onto his back in bed. The man almost laughs at your reaction. Quickly sitting up in bed, you didn't realize how bright the room was when your face was scrunched up and brought the bed sheet up to your chest. Even outside was quiet.
Sukuna almost forgot you make so many faces during sleep and even when you wake up, although not this much. There was a yawn from you as you covered it with both hands, then you swept your hands through your hair. "It's almost near ten if you're wondering." He repositioned himself again on the futon, laying on his side with one leg propped up while he used one hand to support his head under his chin.
"Get out," voice groggy; you stood up from the bed to prepare for the day, but Sukuna reached across the bed and brought you back down.
"You should sleep in more; you look adorable when sleeping." Sukuna teases you, and by instinct, you try to tear your wrist away, but this further fuels him to bring you into his arms and lock you up. Cradling you, he brushes a few strays of hair out. The push and pull you both had is almost desirable to other women in the harem. Sukuna in the morning looks different, nearly too humane for your liking. When he brushes the hair aside, he lingers his hand on the apple of your cheek and brings his lips to kiss the top of your head. Your reaction was like a cat sprayed with water, always struggling. "I almost forgot; good morning to you too." The body scent you had acquired sticks to you so well that it is only what pheromones entirely throughout the night. Maybe this is the scent he likes, besides your natural scent.
"I took some time off from my affairs and decided to tend to you." If you look offended, you do indeed; anything he does for you sounds like an offense. The foreign topic of him trying to soften you up always seems helpless, but Sukuna has time to try everything; a man like him is never out of ideas.
"I don't need you to," glaring at Sukuna, his smiles widened even more, and you took the liberty to push his face away when he closed up again with your other free hand.
[afternoon]
He was serious when he said he wouldn't leave you alone. You wanted to be by yourself, but he made it difficult. Not only had he dismissed everyone who served under you and told them that their service wasn't needed for the day, but he was also hand-hogging you.
Sukuna grabs your hand, and you forcefully pull it away; he does it again, and you repeat it. This childish play continues until he grasps it tightly, forcing you to walk side by side. "Let go." You wiggle your hand, trying not to lose composure, and Sukuna swiftly plays with your fingers and separates them from interlocking his with yours to tighten the hold.
"No," that one-word answer from him had you wish you could disappear into the air magically. "I made a promise, and I intended to keep it." Sukuna brings you even closer as you bump into his arm.
You both were walking to nowhere, only letting your feet guide you and him around the fortress ground. It wasn't until Asuna's head appeared in your view that Danzo's tugged his mother's hand to tell his mother he wanted to visit you quickly.
"Danzo?" You call from a few feet away, and the little boy brightens. He lets go of Asuna's hand and runs toward you at full speed, and knocks himself into your legs. Danzo smiles happily at you, and you use your free hand to pat the boy's head. Asuna greeted you and Sukuna while lingering where she stood. Her eyes trail to your and Sukuna's hands which are interlocked tightly. As a spectator, the scene ahead of her almost makes it seems like a perfect family of three should be if Danzo were yours, even though you were awkward in showing affection to Danzo in front of Sukuna. She kept seeing you side-eying the taller man, who was observing every millimeter of interaction. Asuna's son was very fond of you during the first meeting, even if he had misunderstood you for being a character from a book. Although you don't mind interpretation, you were rather genuine in your exchange with Danzo.
"Have you been good?" You readjust the multiple layers of collars of Danzo's clothing, fixing any creases. Danzo nodded rapidly with a hum.
"Use your mouth," Sukuna spoke up, and you again side-eye him. Danzo's little body tensed up at the sound of his father. You pretended to wiggle your hand in Sukuna's and elbow his side purposely, and he saw a subtle disapproving eye and a frown from you. You were peeved with his tendencies. Why be a grown man picking on a child, especially his own? Even his half-brother was treated almost the same.
Before you can open your mouth to comfort the child, multiple voices enter the yard. Out and emerge from the corner is Eisha with her daughter and Sena accompanying the crown matriarch along with a few minor concubines. Everyone was locking eyes with each other and stopped their idling talking. Eisha (along with Sena) picked up on how close you were to Sukuna, and a knot formed in her chest when the apparent physical contact of hand-holding was the first thing she saw. A tight-lipped wry gambol set on her lips as she greeted Sukuna and ushered her daughter, Eri, to do the same, so the rest followed suit. But her eyes flickered to Danzo's last second; he was also close. Eisha knew that Asuna's son wasn't a thought in Sukuna's mind as he was just one of the many children he sired. Still, it tickles her interest why he was so close when her daughter wasn't granted the same physical closeness but a mere glance.
"Greetings Lord Sukuna/ Father." Then the rest greeted you, besides Eisha, due to ranking. You give the rest acknowledgment with a thin nod and adequately greet Eisha only. "What brings you all out here, Lord Sukuna?" She inquires with pique curio sitting at the back of her mind.
"Thought it would do Lady (Name) good for some fresh air." Then Sukuna turns the question to Eisha, "And what are you doing out here? You are frail and susceptible to the cold, which could worsen your health."
"I'm glad that you ask Lord Sukuna," she then pulls Eri forward in front of her by the hand gently. Almost as if she wants Sukuna to acknowledge the child. "I came out here with Eri for a walk after her studies." There was only a flat 'oh' from Sukuna, and from how he sounded, it lacked interest. Even Sena picks up on the tone, and that pricks a nerve. If Sukuna doesn't even care about her two previous children, then why would he care about Eri at all? Even in your presence, he doesn't seem to show filial affection towards them.
"I see; carry on with your walk then." Sukuna quickly dismissed them, but Eisha wasn't willing to let go.
"If I could, would Your Lordship, Lady (Name), and Concubine Asuna allow us to join your route?" Eisha wouldn't allow you and Asuna to be alone with Sukuna. And behind her back, she made a hand sign which the lower-ranking concubines understood and made a quick excuse to leave the yard. So now that only leaves her, Eri, and Sena. What Eisha did, didn't escape Sukuna's vision; that only made him take a deep and intolerable sigh inwardly.
All he asked for was one day with you without interruption.
For Asuna, she thought this timing couldn't be any worse with the visible tension brewing. She could tell that Sukuna's mood had floundered a bit since, after all, he was only out here to be with you. Then she focused on you, which she could say for once; your mood seemed to be in sync with Sukuna, although you wanted to get rid of him.
°
Two weeks later, two figures on separate horses rode up and stopped by the entrance.
"So this is Sukuna's mighty castle, huh?" Mugetsu's keen eyes search every nook and cranny of the building to see how well the fortress is built. Then there's Totsuwa, who already feels the regret setting in. He only accepted the invitation out of sheer impulsiveness and hatred for the pink hair man, and now the feelings somehow dissolved once he made it to Sukuna's Hell doorstep. It was easy for Totsuwa to imagine himself slaying the demon and reclaiming all his honor, power, and glory that Sukuna had muddled; he even talks significantly about it in his drunken stupor at an inn a week back.
"Don't be a chicken now, Iriyu," Mugetsu teases his best friend, "we might be able to learn more about our enemy." Somehow that doesn't sound comforting to Totsuwa, even when their tone is meant to lighten him up.
Getting off their horses, they handed the reins to a stable boy and looked for someone with deep pink and white hair. It wasn't hard to spot them when they were wearing their white garment. "Hello, Lord Mugetsu and Lord Totsuwa; I am Uraume, Lord Sukuna's retainer." They greet the two men with a proper bow, "If you would please follow me, I'll guide you two."
Mugetsu tapped Totsuwa's arm a few times, "They look pretty," he whispered, eyeing Uraume's back, "if only I wasn't married and they weren't your buddy's retainer, then I would've gotten them."
"Please, for the love of God, shut up!" Totsuwa whispers right back to his friend. "You always say that to every pretty woman you walk by!"
Mugetsu: "I can't help it, though."
[sukuna's office]
"Whoa..." Surprise color Mugetsu and Totsuwa when they saw not just the room but you seated a foot away from Sukuna. Rumors about the favorite wife do hold.
"Stop ogling at my wife," the pink-haired man snapped, brows drawn together into a scowl with the corner of his lip quirking up, and a tongue click could be heard. Sukuna wasn't sure why you insisted on being here; he would let you join any other meetings, but why this one? He doesn't know. There was a smidge of hesitation presenting at the back of his mind even though he tried to push it away logically; it always came back up. However, Sukuna wouldn't let it show. During the last two weeks, you and he had an on-and-off time together, the same usual push and pull. Still, you somehow had inserted yourself into his schedule willingly today with the promise of being interested in politics.
Sukuna had warned you it would be boring to dissuade you from this meeting, but you brought up a point, "You were the one who allowed me to visit your meetings, but now you won't let me?" Point taken, and now here you are. In the logical aspect, this allows Sukuna to spend time with you. Albeit not the way how he wanted it. But he couldn't brush away the nagging thought that it didn't feel right for you to be here.

The house is still when you finish the last of your tidying. Unlike weeks before, your day is not over. You creep to the bottom of the stairs and listen for any sign of life before you ascend. You haven't heard any comings or goings but you tend to zero in when you're focused.
You get to the top and pause again. As you pass the study, you hear nothing. You don't know exactly where Mr. Laufeyson retreated but you assume that would be most logical. You gently turn the door handle on the library door and ease the door on its hinges, keeping it from making a noise.
You're met with the setting evening light as you enter, the drapes still wide open. You shut the door with a subtle click and cross the room, peering out onto the garden below. It's even more beautiful from up here. You lean on the window ledge as you admire how the shadows nestle around the hedges and pool at the feet of the grand marble statue at the very centre. In the dimming hue, the gazebo resembles the crumbling Coliseum.
A muffled thump shakes you from your reverie. You quickly back up, tugging the curtains closed as you hide yourself away from the beauty. There is just as much to be admired within; from the gilt frames to the straight spines and polished table. Every piece is worthy of coveting.
You go to the door and flip the light switch. The room remains dim and you turn in confusion to the gray room. You hear footsteps from down the hall and low tones, though no words are clear enough to discern. From what you can glean, the conversation is not a friendly one.
You shrug off the conflict without and go to the middle of the room and peer up at the lifeless glass shade around the dangling bulb. You don't understand. You put your hands on your hips and squint. The little hanging chain with the crystal at its tail catches your eye. Aha. But you can't reach that high.
You glance around as the staircase groans. You go to the writing desk and grab the chair from behind it. You carry it over to the light and step onto the seat. Even up high, you're on your toes grabbing for the chain. You finally grasp the gem and tug, the light erupting from within the multicoloured cage. As your vision is tinted by the new rays, the door that adjoins with the study swings inward. You shift on the seat and face Mr. Laufeyson as you drop your arm.
You are not used to looking down on him. He is intimidating even from above. You bat your lashes and bend, gripping the back of the chair as you climb down and dust it off with your hand. You offer an apologetic nod and go to lift it. He is quicker than you as he takes it easily by the back and carries it without effort to the desk. He shoves it under and keeps a grasp on the backrest as he faces you, lifting his chin.
"I hired you to keep this house in order, though it seems you are intent on quite the opposite," he accuses.
Your brows wrinkle just a little. You didn't mean to. You only came to do your job. You want to say as much; his brother was already here and you didn't say a word. You were good.
"I know my brother let himself in," he continues, "he does tend to do as he pleases. He does too much and says much more," Laufeyson's brow arches thoughtfully, "I wonder what he said to you."
You put your hands behind you and clasp them tight to keep from squirming. As he stands behind the desk, you're reminded of an interrogation room, the likes of which you only ever saw on one of your father's crime dramas. You swallow and scrunch your lips.
"I'm asking, so speak," he urges.
"Nothing, Mr. Laufeyson. Well... er, he told me his name then asked for mine, but I didn't tell him. I swear. I didn't know what to say so I..." you falter, embarrassed and stare at the shelf behind him, "so I ran away. I said nothing at all."
He takes a heavy breath and lets it out through his nose, "nothing?"
"Nothing, Mr. Laufeyson," you avow.
"But why not?"
"Pardon?"
"Why not? He is a charming man, at least, many seem to believe so," he sniffs, "so why wouldn't you entertain him?"
You shake your head. You don't know what he wants to hear. You know less what to say.
"I'm not lying--"
"I'm not saying you are. I didn't ask it," he inserts, "why would you not say anything? Are you shy, hm? Perhaps you find him attractive? He is objectively within accepted beauty standards--"
"No, Mr. Laufeyson," you breathe, "I am not."
"So you are dutiful? A loyal servant? And you recalled exactly as I warned you," he says with a keen lilt, "you do listen so well, that it may be I have no right to doubt you."
You keep your lips straight, fighting for an ounce of composure. You can't tell if he does believe you or not.
"And yet," he slithers around the desk, "there are things I've said which you do not seem to have heard," he nears and stops before you, swiping his finger up and down, "your attire is... lacking."
You look down at the baggy shirt and brown slacks. You touch the rough wool and avert your gaze to the floor.
"Mr. Laufeyson, I haven't had time to get anything new--"
"I didn't ask. I'm telling you. For the last time," he punctuates the last few words.
"Yes, Mr. Laufeyson," you appease and look at his collar, focusing on the knot of his tie, just by the lump in his throat.
"If my brother appears again in my absence, you will call me at once. Perhaps, you should review the current security in place as well," he states, "if there is a next time, I wouldn't want him to get further than the gate."
"I will add it to the list, Mr. Laufeyson."
He scoffs and steps around you, his sleeve brushing you, just a little. Enough to inspire a shiver. He continues his snakish path to the door and marks his departure with the snap of the door against the frame. You flinch and bite down on your cheeks. You didn't do anything wrong, though it seems, there is no right when it comes to Mr. Laufeyson.
🧹
On Tuesday, you arrive to an empty house. Mr. Laufeyson does not appear throughout the day. There is no evidence of his presence and your own has little enough effect. You continue down the list, reviewing the landscaping and the security, and a few smaller tasks.
There is one point that worries you. Mr. Laufeyson provided an email on the matter; a collection of upcoming obligations. His work, which was still mysterious to you, as many things about him are, and socials, underlined for emphasis. There was a whole set of to-dos for these.
A chef, Corissa, and staff to serve. Invitations to be sent to a list of contacts. The in-house preparations, a question mark beside a name, Ronnie? It isn’t for another two weeks but you should get things in order sooner than later.
In the desolation, you work easily through the goals you set yourself. The landscapers will remain, Corissa will be there not only for the party but to deliver the meal plan and prepped ingredients. And Ronnie, the decorator, will be there to ready the house for guests. You leave at your typical time feeling accomplished.
A similarly empty abode awaits you elsewhere. Your father is as he ever is. Smoking and grumbling. You bring him the supper you made ahead of the week and he snarls about his appetite and the feeding tube that’s been gone for over a week now. You eat beside him but he doesn’t do more than flip through the channels and complain about what the world is coming to.
Later, you find him dozing in the same spot. You tidy up around him, mindful not to bother him, and draw a blanket over him. He doesn’t stir but the ragged noise of his breathing rises and falls in the low din of the television. You leave that on but put the volume on low. He would not be happy if you tried to get him to bed.
Wednesday. A bad day. Your day off. You wake up and have your tea patiently. You have things to do but are in no hurry. You find your father away from his usual spot. He’s at the front door, watching across the street as a moving truck sits in front of the apartment building. He mutters about grimy people.
You sidle past him, telling him you're off to grab some groceries and a few bits and bobs, asking if he needs anything. It’s the same answer as always; smokes. You frown.
“Dad, you know I don’t like buying those–”
“Get outta here then,” his voice scratches, “I’ll pay that twerp Cody to go get me a carton.”
“It’s only… the doctor–”
“Fucking charlatan,” he growls.
You give up. You give a sheepish smile as your eyes drift to the open flap of the mailbox. You reach inside and retrieve a single envelope. You wave it at your father and promise you’ll be back in a few hours. He’s already walking away. The door slams in farewell.
You head off, past the bus stop and along the path behind the laundromat. There’s a thrift shop not far from the small convenience store where you get your staples. You walk with your head down as you tear open the envelope, the hospital’s stamp in the corner. You unfold it and the paper almost drops along with your heart.
You stagger and stop short. You stare at the bottom line; total. Six figures. That’s a lifetime of debt. How could you ever hope to pay it off? Yet, you wouldn’t trade your father for those red digits.
You shudder and look around. With no witnesses to your dismay, you tuck away the invoice in your back pocket and carry on. First, some work clothes, then a few canned goods and dairy to pad out what’s left in the cupboards.
You can manage the little things, even with that big thing weighing you down.
🧹
Thursday comes with a sort of trance. You spent the night sleepless as the invoice taunted you from the top drawer of your dresser. You still have to call and figure out a payment plan. The blurb at the bottom of the bill gives you hope you might be able to figure this out.
You don’t wake because you don’t sleep. You just get up and get on with the day. You dress in one of the outfits you budgeted out at the thrift store. Even that expense, if necessary, if it could be considered an investment for your job, knots in your stomach.
You tried to keep in mind the images you googled as you shopped and picked out professional pieces. Lamb gray slacks and a white blouse striped with light blue. You tuck the tails in and check yourself in the mirror. You can only see to your shoulders. You should’ve found a belt too. Maybe next time.
You slip your feet into a pair of flats, uncomfortable next to your usual sneakers, and grab the square leather bag you aired out overnight. You left your cleaning kit at Mr. Laufeyson’s since you won’t need it anywhere else. You put your lunch in your work bag, your phones, and your coin purse, along with the ledger. It still feels rather empty.
The bus putters uptown and drops you at your usual stop. You walk up to the iron gate and fish out your work phone to check the new code. As you punch in the six numbers, you hesitate. Another six figures nip at your thoughts. Even six days a week can’t balance the debt.
You break the threshold of Mr. Laufeyson’s paradise, a stark contrast to your own meagre retreat, and you fall into the pattern of your days there. You put the code into the back door and enter. You’re once more met by a vacant interior.
It’s a cleaning day. You wonder if maybe you should’ve brought a change of clothes but you don’t worry too long. You put your leather bag in the closet, you’ll bring it up with you after the clean is done. You take your kit, put on shoe covers and gloves, and head upstairs. The first floor was done on Monday and today will be the second.
You start at one end of the hall. You hum under your breath, not loud enough to be heard by anyone but yourself. You saw a pair of wireless earbuds yesterday but talked yourself out of the purchase. You couldn’t connect them to the flip and it didn’t feel right to use them with your work phone. Besides, you can’t spare the price.
You knock on each door before you enter. You’ve learned better of just barging in since Thor’s unexpected arrival. Your progress is slow and tedious, though it calms your nerves. The manual tasks that keep your hands busy keeps your mind less than.
You tap on the last door, awaiting an answer. You haven’t heard or seen Mr. Laufeyson. You thought there was a buzzing a few moments ago but it faded into the lull. With no answer, you enter. There isn’t much you do in the main bedroom, a quick dust, you make sure the bed is tidy, and clear away the clutter. You’ll return with the vacuum when you get to the floors.
There’s a fresh scent in the air. Jasmine? Something light? You’re not very good at discerning scent. You search for a source of the rich scent. Maybe an open window letting in the luxurious garden aromas. Nope, curtains drawn, windows firmly shut.
As you fold the corner of the sheet neatly at the top and cover it with the pillows, your elbow knocks against the night table. Something falls and you step back in surprise. Your tunnel vision slowly starts to recede. You look around for what you knocked over but can’t see anything out of place.
You finish putting the pillows in their place, the bed made, and get down to your knees. You lean forward on your hands, bringing your cheek almost to the floorboards as you peer first under the nightstand then beneath the bed. You see a small shape just underneath. You reach for it, grasping the watch as its glass face presses coolly to your palm.
As you rescind your arm, a click freezes you in place. The unknown fragrance grows strong and a dampness tinges the air. You blink and stare under the bed, across to the other side as the door against the opposite wall pushes inward. The en suite bathroom. Oh gosh.
You see a bare of bare feet and the pieces connect in your head. The buzzing, the scent, all of it. Mr. Laufeyson must have been in the shower and now he’s…
He sighs and groans, stopping in place as you can only see his feet. He cannot see you either. In that moment, you have a choice. To be honest and make him aware or to hide and pretend it isn’t happening. Your heart beats as you stay paralysed on the floor.
The tail of a towel drops around his feet before he lifts it again. Oh. He’s… you can’t even think it!
You reach your arm out again, lowering down flat, and lift yourself over the floor as you slide seamlessly under the bed. You hold your breath as you struggle not to make a sound. Loki’s only sniffs and groans override anything that might give you away.
The closet rolls open and he clucks thoughtfully. Your eyes widen then you squeeze them shut as you cover your mouth. You can’t believe this is happening. What would he think if he found you there?
You watch his feet as he steps into a pair of briefs, then his pants. Anymore of him is obscured by the bed frame. You’re thankful for that. Fabric flutters as he buttons on a shirt. He nears the bed and you bite your lip. He sits to put on his socks, the mattress dipping under him.
When he gets up again, he wanders around, and you hear another wisp of fabric. He hums and nears the bed. He stops right beside you and taps the night table. You hear the drawer open and close. You squeeze the watch in your hand.
Another deep breath as he strides away, “curse… must be…”
The door swings open and his footfalls march decisively down the hallway. You don’t move right away. You’re terrified to come out.
What if he comes back and catches you? Worse, what if he thinks you stole his watch? No, you were only trying to help. That never seems to turn out the way you intend, does it?

Wow, I didn't expect the interior of this home. It's an 1848 Greek Revival in Beverly, NJ, (I had to look it up- never heard of it), 11bds, 4.2ba, and has a pending sale for $999K. Check this one out- I heard that it was on the market before with photos the owners took w/a cheap camera and all their stuff in the house. They cleaned it up and hired a professional photographer, so I found the original photos, b/c you know how much I love before & after. I hope you enjoy it.
Tumblr media
The entrance hall looks surreal.
Tumblr media
But, this was the owner's photo of the entrance hall.
Tumblr media
And, this is the photographer's. Can this be the same home? W/o any redo? Which one is really how it looks? I mean didn't the pending buyers notice?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The sitting room emptied to show how spacious it is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The lounge was completely redone. Which do you like better?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the remodel. Look at the new bar. I don't know, it was kind of old Hollywood glamor before. Art deco.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honestly, the dining room looks much better empty. You see the superb details of the painted floor and that gorgeous piece in the back.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They refreshed the kitchen- painted the cabinets black and got rid of the laminate island, making it brown wood.
Tumblr media
They added chandeliers to the pot rack.
Tumblr media
They didn't show the everyday dining room, either. Look at the wonderful brick wall.
Tumblr media
I don't know why the photographer skipped this room. I like it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The 2nd. fl. bedrooms. They removed the owners framed pictures and featured the bookcase. The colors are so dfferent.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The primary bedroom was emptied out and photographed to show how large it is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is a better representation of the bath than the one above.
Tumblr media
The photographer included pics of the attic bedrooms. The owners did not.
Tumblr media
He also included another vintage bath photo.
Tumblr media
He added this room with the cool ceiling.
Tumblr media
And, he took photos of the huge basement.
Tumblr media
He took photos of the lovely gardens.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The gazebo, and stairs down to the beautiful boardwalk on the Delaware River. The property is 2.2 acres.

Sigewinne plops herself on a chair, spreading refreshment drinks all around the table of yours and Neuvillette’s shared garden. Under the lovely gazebo, many of the melusines gather, pretty eyes all wide with excitement. As a musician, you pride yourself on leading the top opera performances in Fontaine, and as easily as you could ask some of the best singers to perform for your husband, you decide to take the melusines who volunteered to perform under your wing and teach them to perform some of Neuvillette’s favourite songs for his birthday.
To be honest, you’re not sure why anyone hasn’t thought of hiring them to sing before. As water creatures, their voices range around a high-soprano key, the cadence of their voices lovely and controlled like the rolling tides of the summer seas. Sigewinne herself has such an adorable singing voice, you have to stop fawning over her as if she were an infant, and focus on the rest of the choir. Around fifteen melusines eagerly agreed to volunteer, and they organise themselves in rows, dressed in lovely organza silks with light blue flowers clasped in their tiny hands.
“I can’t believe I’ve heard this non-stop in Monsieur Neuvillette’s office, and now I’m here singing it.” One of them shakes her head, and the lovely soprano melusine lightly whacks her upside the head.
“You volunteered, dummy.”
“I know, but I can’t bear hearing it again. I’m investing in earplugs.” She snaps, and you and a few other melusines giggle in reply.
“Alright, ladies! Let’s go over the plan again: Neuvillette is arriving any moment now, and we’ll start after I tap the baton on the music stand. Lady Furina, thank you for playing the piano.” You nod at her in acknowledgement.
“Enough with the theatrics, darling. You’ve worked with me for years. I would do it for Neuvillette anytime.” She waves her gloved hand dismissively, short bobbed hair dancing as she shakes her head dramatically. “Now hush, he’ll be here at any second.”
Sure enough, the clack of heels is heard, the sound of keys jingling rings out and everyone quickly stands up straighter. One of the melusines nearly whacks her elbow into the table next to her and covers her mouth to block her pained yelp. The melusine next to her covers her mouth too, to conceal her laughter. The silence permeates for about all of thirty seconds, in which Neuvillette finally looks outside the window of the dining room to see the gazebo decorated in blue ribbon, fifteen melusines, Lady Furina, and the love of his life standing there in the garden. He smiles softly, shedding his coat and making his way to the garden. Just as he opens the gate, you tap your baton three times, and the melusines’ melody begins to soar in tandem with Furina’s lovely piano accompaniment.
Neuvillette stands, stunned. In all of his years, he has isolated himself from the society of Fontaine to hide his true identity, to mourn the loss of those who have departed before him and those to come, the weight of their sins shattering his back from punishment he wasn't sure were entirely fair. But now, with the death of Focalors, it’s been the first time since he’s let loose and allowed himself to really indulge in society’s little rituals. Like birthdays, although unfamiliar with them, he finds it so… bizarre. The melusine’s singing is beautiful, and though he can’t see them properly because of a weird haze that possesses his purple eyes. It’s so peculiar, celebrating a birth he can’t quite remember. His existence, quiet yet loud and theatrical in the Court of Law, is it really so important to you that you wish to celebrate it with so many other people?
For some strange reason, a few drops of rain wet the stepping stone in front of him. It isn’t until the song ends with a crescendo that Furina shrieks and tries to pull fabric over her piano that Neuvillette takes notice of the tears burning the corner of his eyes. You walk up to him and embrace him, his hand rakes through your hair. You wipe away a stray tear from his cheek, flushed and unaged from years of loneliness, but the childlike glimmer in his eyes he had thought would never return ignites in his sea of lavender once more.
“Don’t cry, Neuvi. Happy birthday.”

summary. yul falls for you // soft moments w yul as your guard
word count. 3,6k
Tumblr media
“a bodyguard?” seo yul repeated in disbelief, eyes wide and directed at his uncle. his voice echoed in the wide room as the older man just nodded.
“the l/n family just moved here and they’re a well respected people. their daughter was raised not to cause any harm and live peacefully; therefore, in case of an attack she wouldn’t be able to protect herself” park jin explained calmly. yul just nodded “it’s not going to be a permanent occupation, only until the time they find a professional guard for their daughter”
“i understand” yul bowed gently.
“i’m glad. we’ll pay them a visit in a while, i’d want you to go with me” park jin announced. his nephew didn’t say anything, just nodded. the older watched him leave the room almost as quietly as a rustle of wind.
yul was smiling gently while talking to your parents, genuinely invested in why they moved here. the tea that was served was truly delightful and he couldn’t help himself but ask for more. when the discussion topic turned into a political one, the young mage looked around the garden. the gazebo they were seated in was cozy and prettily decorated, you could see the majority of the open space with one’s bare eye.
suddenly, yul saw a movement behind the peony bushes. he straighted his back and his hand rested on the grip of his sword.
eyes trained on the bush, he frowned upon hearing some voices.
out of the blue, someone fell from the bushes with a yelp. everyone looked that way, lady l/n letting out a huff.
“there she is… gods, this child will make me die because of an heart attack one day” she mumbled.
indeed, there was a young lady standing in front of the peony bush. she was dusting off the pink flower petals and leaves from her pastel purple hanbok. everyone could notice she was saying something to herself and seemingly, she didn’t realise she wasn’t alone.
“this is our daughter, y/n” your father sighed.
you looked up and suddenly saw the four people’s gazes on you. blood of embarrassment rushing to your cheeks, you approached them.
bowing gently you greeted the guests and a young man caught your attention. it seemed that you caught his too – he was staring at you in awe.
“greetings” you mumbled and refused to look at the unfamiliar people.
“where have you been– you know what? i done even wish to know. this is your new bodyguard, seo yul” your father pointed at the young man in light purple hanbok. you smiled upon realising it had the shade as yours. sending him a nod, he bowed.
his face was truly handsome and being honest, you were glad it was him and not the older man seated next to him.
“it is my pleasure to meet you. i promise, a single hair won’t fall off your head as long as i’ll be guarding you” he said softly. his ebony irises were glued to you, enchanted by your beauty. park jin just lifted the corner of his lips in a smirk, noticing how smittened his nephew is.
“and your name is…?” you asked, ignoring the look your mother sent your way.
“seo yul, lady l/n” the brown haired man replied, his feline-alike features causing you to study his face. then, your gaze fell upon his plum-shaded hanbok with tender, blueish sewings forming peonies. how ironic.
“i like your hanbok, seo yul” you smiled and bowed, then looked at your parents “i still need to unpack my baggage so if you’ll excuse me, i shall get going”
they just nodded and dived back in to the conversation whereas the young mage’s eyes followed you until you disappeared inside the house.
you were so pretty and graceful yet – unlike choyeon – you had a rebellious spark in your eye. something in you just intrigued seo yul and he didn’t even notice when he tried to drink from an empty porcelain cup.
the young mage arrived at your residence, the warm sun heating up his skin pleasantly. the fresh air was filled with the scent of flowers that blossomed in the garden, the birds’ singing beautifully filling in the silence.
someone from the servants led him to your chamber and knocked gently, looking at the new addition to the staff.
“lady y/n is very… childish. please, don’t be afraid to tell her no if she has an ridiculous idea or a foolish request” they said. yul frowned and suddenly the door opened, your maid looking the man up and down.
“you may come in” she said and yul stepped inside.
“who is it?” your voice rung in the room yet you weren’t nowhere in sight. only when your maid came to the folding screen and stepped behind it, he realised you’re there.
blush hit his cheeks and he shook his head.
“it’s seo yul, lad–” he started.
“we’re the same age, i assume. please, don’t use any of the honorific words and nicknames” you hummed and then said something to your maid “this ribbon, please”
yul looked around the room. he didn’t spend much time with noble women except choyeon, yet he thought it’s something known that women tend to be tidy. well…
maybe your room was somehow clean, it definitely had it’s own charm. history books on the floor, along with calligraphy supplies. horse-themed ornaments scattered on the wooden furniture, makeup tools next to a pretty mirror and… empty plates.
“can you show me around the city today, yul?”
his gaze snapped up and he felt his face get warm when he noticed you caught him staring. but there was no anger or disgust in your eyes, no. pure amusement and excitement.
“of course” he nodded, taking in the sight of you. today, you decided to wear a faint yellow hanbok. the sewings at the bottom of the dress were gold and formed a beautiful scenery: young deers, forest plants and wild birds. the rest of the clothing, including the frame of your sleeves, was white. there was a yellow ribbon in your braided hair.
“we shall go, then” you grinned and energetically stormed out of the room. he looked shocked at the maid. the older lady just sighed, dramatically wiping her forehead.
“good luck” she just mumbled and seo yul chased after you, with a love-struck smile.
“so? what are you going to show me? can we see the mage place?” you asked, not even turning around when you heard his footsteps approaching.
you knew he’d say no: you heard that only mages were allowed to enter the place and after all – sadly – you were no mage.
“sure, i’ll take you to jeongjinjak. but be aware that the mages might not be too pleased to see you there” he answered casually and just when he caught up with you, you halted your movements. yul realised he had to stop and turn around, blinking.
“really?” you asked in disbelief, lips forming into a huge smile.
“of course, why not?” seo yul returned your smile.
“i thought… ah, it doesn’t matter. we should go, then” you hummed happily.
yul already knew that he won’t be able to resist you.
“oh my, it’s beautiful here” you sighed when you entered jeongjinjak. the place was spacious and quiet, the air filled with a feeling of seriousness and a scent of old books “do you live here?”
yul nodded, his hand intertwined behind his back as you two strolled around the place carefully.
“my uncle is in charge of this place” yul added. passing by some young mages that were training, you sent them a sweet smile and bowed gently.
they all stared at you in awe, immediately losing focus and stumbling over their own feet. giggling at that, you failed to notice the disapproving look yul sent them.
“i always wanted to at least possess the power ryusu” you hummed sadly “but my parents were never willing to find me a teacher, even though they know some of the stages themselves. selfish, isn’t it?”
you turned to yul and his apologetic smile. there was a certain softness in his features, a look that was different to what you always stumble upon. most of the people assumed you’re a spoiled brat and treated you this way. but yul was the only one who didn’t: he was carefully listening and genuinely cared about what you said.
“i can teach you the basics, y/n” he offered and before you could burst out with happiness, he quickly added “but it must remain a secret between us”
“of course it will” you grinned and quickly went to hug him. you realized your actions and froze, feeling ashamed of your impulsiveness. seo yul noticed that and his heart ached with a strange feeling. were you taught to suppress your emotions? “thank you so much, yul”
“it will be my pleasure, la– y/n” he smiled, ebony irises glinting with happiness. you held eye contact for a mere moment longer before there was a sudden bang.
it was the mages in training who were just staring at you and didn’t notice that they tripped over the edge of the passage.
spending time with yul became a part of your routine. however, it wasn’t a negative thing. you loved his company; for the first time ever you felt like you had a friend. someone who truly cared for you.
a knock at your door caused you to smile. yul had a specific pattern of knocking – it sounded like a tender melody, rhythmic but pleasant to listen to.
“come in!” you hummed, finishing braiding your hair. your guard entered, bowing and scanning your figure (not so) secretly.
“good morning” he hummed, stepping in. you could read it on his face that he wanted to add something but halted from doing so. ‘you look stunning today’ was what lingered on his lips, albeit his shyness prevented him from wording it out.
“what should we do today?” you asked, tilting your head.
you adored seo yul – he always kept up with your ideas and temper. most of the maids were old and always too tired to even take a short walk. even though he wasn’t your maid – and certainly, he wasn’t old – he never had a problem with taking strolls around the city or showing you the neighbourhood . sometimes it included walking through hills, high grasses and small rivers. but he was always willing to do so.
“is there something particular you wish to do?” he asked, his tender voice calm as always.
“not really, no” you shook your head.
“then, we could go–”
he wasn’t meant to finish when your mother barged into the room. her face morphing into relief when she noticed you.
“you’re here, good. do not leave the house today, i heard there are some… civil commotions in the city. and it’s been dangerous lately” she said and her eyes met yul’s. he bowed “oh, you’re here. you can go home now. y/n’s not leaving the household today”
“but mother, i–” you started.
“no. it’s too dangerous” she cut you off and left, the maids closing the door behind her.
yul watched your features grow sad and his heart sank. you lost your excitement, eyes gradually fogging with a strange, bland emotion.
“it’s fine. i’m not in the mood anymore, you can go home” you mumbled, turning your face to the window.
“i’m not in the position to disobey your mother’s orders, however i’m your guard” yul offered and carefully studied your reaction “and not to brag or be overconfident, but you’re going to be safe under my watch”
there was a ghost of a smile dancing on your lips as you played with the hem of your hanbok.
“mhm… and what if my parents found out?” you hummed, cocking your eyebrow.
“i’d take the responsibility” yul said seriously. shaking your head, you stood up.
“no need, i was just teasing you. shall we go, then? where are we going, anyway?” you asked.
“to the market. i believe you haven’t seen it yet, y/n?” he asked with a tender smile.
“no, our maids do the duty of providing food…” you hesitated and stopped yul before he left. his eyes widened when he felt your hand on his chest “how are we going to leave? it’s the middle of the day, everyone will see us”
“just trust me, lady” he hummed and slid his hand to grab yours “may i?”
you nodded. yul’s gentle and smooth hand took in yours, as if scared that he’ll cause harm. blush spreading across your cheeks, you looked away and let him lead you.
seo yul was like a cat – his moves were sharp and calculated, paying attention to if someone is coming or not. in no time, you left through the back door and the garden. finding yourself in the middle of a busy street, you looked at him with wide eyes and a smile of gratitude.
“i’ll be using this route” you grinned and saw a flash of fear go through his face.
“no, don’t do that… you’ll get hurt or…” he started and you let out a gasp, drawing some passersby’s attention.
“what is that? that colorful thing? wait, yul, are those parrots?” you yelped in excitement and he couldn’t help but laugh sincerely. his features dropped when you ran off.
“wait a moment!” he giggled, adoring your excitement.
yul walked you through the market, explaing who’s selling what. the delicious smells and colors surrounded you, mouth agape as you took in all the amazing views. the young mage was stealing glances at you and how adorable you were while doing that.
“oh, the sweets!” he hummed and noticed you look that way curiously.
“can we get some?” you asked.
“of course” he grinned, hands interlocked behind his back. he followed you slowly while you already approached the seller. eyes meeting, you stood closer to him once yul arrived.
“what are we having? my treat!” you grinned “all of them look delicious…”
“my favourite are the pine pollen tea ones” he mumbled shyly, pointing at the greenish cookies.
“well then, we’ll have each one of everything” you hummed and noticed the seller’s eyes widen.
“ah, yul!”
you both turned around and saw a man with blonde hair approach you. while yul was distracted, you said something to the snack seller.
“what a beautiful lady… my name is park danggu” the blond man bowed dramatically as you stared him up and down.
“uh-uh. nice to meet you, i’m l/n y/n” you smiled and frowned, looking at yul. he just smiled.
“that’s a friend of mine” your guard explained and noticed all the snacks are already packed, waiting for you. suddenly, yul had a strange feeling ache in his heart: he did not want you to talk too much with danggu. “shall we go home?”
“oh, already?” you pouted, grabbing the bag. yul took it from you, fingers brushing against each other. blush spread on both of your cheeks. danggu smiled upon that.
“yeah, i’m busy either way. i will see you around, yul. don’t come home too late, though” danggu wiggled his brows and was off before yul could even say something.
“he’s silly” you snickered and poked his arm. yul seemed flustered.
on your way back you chatted all the time. you decided you won’t go anywhere once you’re home, so you dismissed yul to go back (only after thanking him for his company, of course).
once back at jeongjinjak, yul was surprised to see a package addressed for him.
it turned out you bought all the pine pollen tea snacks for him and had them delivered at his dorm.
the mage couldn’t help but melt and smile absentmindedly at the gesture.
Tumblr media
for a couple of days yul was dismissed from his duties: your parents gave him some spare time and you said you’re not in the mood to leave the house. it left him pondering if something is wrong and decided to ask you if everything is alright.
the time he spent without you made him realise something: life is bland when you’re not by his side. you’re so lively and energetic, yet so adorable at the same time. he missed you and had this tingling feeling in his heart whenever you weren’t around. yul was looking forward to the day he’ll meet you again.
after finally coming back to his duties, he went right away to your chamber. it was late and dark outside but a messenger called him, saying it was urgent. the mage thought something dangerous was happening.
“y/n?” yul asked, coming into the room. there was a couple of candles lighting up the room, shadows dancing on the walls.
“yul! let’s go out!” you whisper-yelled, grabbing his hands. a pleasant warmth spread through his body before he processed your words.
“what? i thought it was an emergency and you got hurt…” he mumbled.
“no, no. i’m fine. just bored to death… are there any horses…?” you asked hesitantly.
“h-horses?” he choked out, eyes widening. you shrugged nonchalantly.
“i feel like going on a horse ride”
you are insane.
“sure, we’ll find something” he scoffed, shaking his head. he shouldn’t be doing this; none of this, at all. he’s about to sneak out with a lady he was supposed to protect and do something that could potentially harm you. which, he was here to prevent in the first place.
but he couldn’t help it! he felt like you put a spell on him, he just wasn’t able to resist.
“we shall go then, my lady” he hummed. good thing the room was dimmed, otherwise he’d see how your face reddened with a shade of ruby-alike shade of the yin and yang jade.
yul held your hand gently and helped you leave through the window. erupting into quiet giggles when you almost stepped on his feet or when you passed the peony bush where he first saw you. under the cover of dark night sky, yul led you to a nearest stallion. he looked around, making sure no one saw you.
“y/n, do you even know how–” he turned around and gasped when he saw you already on the horse.
“can we go to the pretty fields? please…” you mumbled. yul nodded slowly and hopped on a horse too, leading the way.
“we should be back before sunrise…” he mumbled. there was a look of calmness in your face, almost unfamiliar.
wind in your hair, the sound of horse hooves pleasantly clacking against the ground underneath the starry sky caused your heart to soothe. the smell of fresh grass and yul’s silhouette beautifully framed by moonlight – it was a moment that you wanted to stay in forever.
arriving at the fields, you stopped next to a small stream. the water was rustling pleasantly, hypnotizing you. yul realized that you stopped following him and turned around, looking at you. something was troubling your mind, clearly.
“yul-ah”
even in the faint light you saw his eyes widen. cute.
“yes, y/n?” he asked, voice gentle.
“i think i… no. um, actually, no. i’ve been practising ryusu! can i show you?” you asked and he nodded, locking his hands between his back.
you put your body strength on your legs, focusing to keep your moves sharp and clean. chest moving up and down to keep your breathing regular and steady. just when you thought you got it–
“y/n, i think… my heart longs for you when you’re not present but then it acts as if it was possessed whether you hold my hand… i’d rather look at you than all of the stars or beautiful ornaments” yul said, his words carried by wind.
letting out a shaky breath, you looked at him. moonlight shining on his handsome face and somewhat scared eyes.
“why did i say that…” he mumbled.
you let out a melodic laugh and ran up to him, wrapping hands around his neck. yum was startled but held you gently.
“you fool” you mumbled, smiling against the fabric of his hanbok “my heart calls out for you too. i’ve been meaning to say that for while, that’s why i needed some time alone”
“huh?”
you leaned away and gently grabbed his face, cupping his cute cheeks.
“you’re the only one who understands me, yul-ah. i bask in your warmth and kindness, your spirit makes me feel alive– can… can i kiss you? i’m out of words” you asked. yup nodded shyly, unsure what to do with his hands.
placing your lips on his plump ones, he instinctively wrapped hus hands around your waist. pulling you closer and smiling softly into the kiss.
when you felt like you were running out of your breath, he pulled away.
“you need more training though…”
a frown formed on your face and he snickered.
“with ryusu?” you asked, unable to believe he just said that.
“no– well, yes. if you train your breathing, you’ll be able to kiss longer” a smirk danced on his lips “or the other way around. fortunately for you, i can help with such matter”
suddenly his eyes widened, the flirty behaviour disappeared in a blink of an eye.
“don’t tell your parents. or my uncle. we’re kind of… breaking the rules”
“i won’t” you smiled sweetly and tip-toed to smooch his cheek.
years spend alone without friends or love, barely with your parents caused your heart to ache in a mysterious and hurtful way. but now, with yul by your side, a soothing feeling washed over it as if someone put a calming balm. a balm called love.

Fairground
summary: no one wants to run into their ex at the fair
warnings: jealous Nat, very brief mention of throw up, not proofread hehe
a/n: based off a request I can’t find the ask for
word count: 1.3k
-
“Nat, when we get there can we get ice cream?”
“You’re still hungry after breakfast? I thought you’d be full from all those waffles we made this morning” Natasha responded as she looked at you through the rearview mirror. A smirk on her face as she watched you buzz in your car seat from all the sugar.
“I was, but not now. So I have room for ice cream”
“Well what does mommy say? Can squish have ice cream when we touch down?”
Wanda turned in her seat to look at you as she spoke. She preached politeness so she had to practice it too. “Only if we promise to not eat it so fast we’re sick on the first ride we go on. I’m not having a repeat of last time”
This piqued Natasha’s interest, “What happened last time”
“Missy here swore she was hungry enough for funnel cake, then proceeded to throw up on the teacups after scarfing it down in record time. The operator had to stop the ride and everything”
“Now that doesn’t sound like much fun. Are you sure you’ll be able to keep it down this time?
“I’m sure. Can I get two scoops?”
Wanda sat back in her chair and softly chuckled to herself. She was glad an extra set of clothes found their way into the day bag this time.
-
They made it to the fair just before lunch time. Normally this would be a problem regarding crowds and large lines for attractions, but when Tony Stark was involved, money solved everything. And money had hired out the whole fair for the Avengers and Co.
“Right” Wanda started as she knelt down so she was eye level with you. Your excited eyes darted around her face as she spoke. “What are the rules?”
“Don’t talk to strangers”
“What else?”
“Please and thank yous?”
“Yep, manners are a big one. What’s the most important rule of them all?”
“Always stay by your side. Or Nats. And no running off”
“Spot on” she congratulated you with a kiss on the cheek and a tickle of your ribs. She’d never get tired of your laugh.
Natasha held her hand out for you to hold, leading you through the entrance of the fair towards the welcoming gazebo Tony had requested be set up. A communal space equipped with air conditioning to tame the heat, lockers and whatever other luxury his credit card happened to pay for.
Everyone and their mother within the company had been invited. Well everyone on payroll and an extended invitation to their immediate family, there wasn’t a shortage of friendly faces.
“Clint, hey!” Wanda called with a wave of a hand over to him and his family. It seemed to do the trick as he smiled and jogged over.
“You guys made it just on time. We’re about to head over to the big wheel before it gets too hot to be sat in a tin box in the sky. What do you say?”
“Do you wanna go with Uncle Clint?” Wanda asked.
“What about ice cream?”
The concerned look on your face was evident of the dilemma you found yourself in. If you went in the ferris wheel, you might miss out on your treat.
“Why don’t you go on the ride with Nat and everyone else, and mommy will go get you some ice cream so it’s ready for you when you get off, how about that?”
The reach for Natasha’s hand and the toothy smile you presented was enough of an answer.
-
Wanda was hot.
She could literally feel the sweat beading on the back of her neck.
There was no respite of shade in the line for ice cream. She hoped and prayed the sunscreen she applied earlier was doing its job.
She’d make sure she got some waters’ too.
Just as she was about to move forwards in line, a hand gently placed itself on her clammy shoulder, grabbing her attention away from the vendor.
“Fancy seeing you here” the voice said. And by its lilt, Wanda knew exactly who it was without even needing to turn around.
“Olivia, hey. How’re you?”
“I’m good, thank you. You look well. Where’s Squish? Don’t tell me she’s ditched you for the teacups again”
Wanda winced slightly at the nickname. It was one Natasha had started to use for you herself. And she didn’t have the heart to tell her about its past use.
“She’s good, yeah. She’s dragged Nat on the ferris wheel with the Barton’s. I’m on icecream duty” she said as she gestured towards the line she had to leave to have this conversation.
“Ah yeah, I heard about you and Natasha. Gossip even travels to the depths of the lower levels of Stark Tower”
The tone Olivia used was laced with judgment. Gossip. As if her relationship with Natasha couldn’t be anything but playground talk.
“Well, you know what they say about interpersonal relationships-“
“Libby!”
Your excited scream and frantic feet came barrelling towards the woman’s legs. Her arms coming out to buffer your impact into her.
“Hello sweet girl” She exclaimed, bending down to hug you. “You’ve gotten so big!”
“And I’ve lost two teeth, look!”
You opened your mouth wide, revealing gaps in your teeth where two used to be housed.
“That’s so cool! Did the tooth fairy come?”
“Yep! I got ten whole dollars!”
Olivia looked up at the sudden shadow that blankets her crouching form. Finding Natasha standing over her, arm possessively wrapped around Wanda’s waist.
Standing she said, “Miss Romanoff, it’s a pleasure to meet you” hand coming out to shake Natasha’s.
Natasha awkwardly ignored the gesture. Instead reaching out to you, tucking your small body between her and your mothers.
“I’m sorry, do I know-“
“Olivia, I work down in payroll” she announced. “Me and Wanda used to be together”
The tension was palpable. It was if you could reach out and touch it.
“Right, well it was nice meeting you” Natasha said, before turning to Wanda. “Squish wants to go on the teacups. Want me to take her or do you and Libby want to buddy up?”
Wanda winced again knowing full well Olivia had heard the whole interaction as she retreated into the distance.
“Cmon Nat. I didn’t know she was going to be here”
“You didn’t know a Stark employee was going to be at a company organised day out?” Natasha's eyebrow quirked. Arms folding defensively in front of her.
“You know I didn’t mean it like that. She came up to me! I was in the line for ice cream and she ambushed me”
“Can I have ice cream now?” you asked, looking up innocently at the two women.
“In a second, sweetie. Natasha, you seriously can’t say you didn’t know about her. You know everything about everyone”
“Just because I knew of her doesn’t mean I liked seeing her act like that around you. Around Y/N. All friendly and close”
It wasn’t until Wanda saw how pouty Natasha was that it dawned on her.
“You’re jealous,” it was more of a statement than a question.
“No I’m not. I just didn’t like her. She gave off weird vibes”
“You do know there’s nothing to worry about, right?”
All Natasha did was look down at you and shrug. Trying to avoid eye contact with her girlfriend. “If it’s any consolation, Y/N never wanted Olivia to go in the ferris wheel with her”
Natasha hoisted you up on her hip when you started pulling at the edge of her shirt. Nosing your sun cream scented skin trying to calm herself down.
“What else?” Natasha asked after a moment.
“Hm?”
“What else do I do better than her?”
Wanda snorted, “I think if I listed them all we’d be here long after the fair closes”
“I’m willing to wait. Oh look, and we’ve got a food truck right next to us. How convenient”
“Ice cream?” You asked again. Getting impatient.
“The child has spoken. A vanilla cone with a side of complements please!”
Good job Wanda had compliments to spare.

Continuing the march to the ranch, 008 decided it was now her turn to interrupt the silence. The kind of silence that was neither comfortable nor uncomfortable. It simply was.
Kate: So what is working for Bublé like? He seems kindaaa- Diego: Overly enthusiastic? Kate: Useless.
Tumblr media
Diego: He's not too bad. He's tryin' at least. And he's on site more often than the other owner. Kate: Other owner? Diego: Yeah- the place is a joint venture. Old Owners sold it cheap to a second cousin or somethin and he got roped into the whole mess of managin' it all.
Tumblr media
Kate: They are actually going to hire a real chef one day right? Diego: Why? Personally, I think nothin' says Winterfest like eggs done up twelve different ways. Kate: You're not funny. Diego: I think I'm plenty funny. And charming. Kate: Modest too. Diego: I'm glad we agree.
Tumblr media
Diego: 𝗛𝗲'𝘀 𝗮 𝘄𝗲𝗶𝗿𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗴𝘂𝘆. After the place sold I was real surprised they let me keep Chavo around- seein' as he's a mouth to feed as any, and there ain't much real ranchin' to do these days.
Not that I'm complainin'. He's a good dog.
Tumblr media
Diego: But here's the thing- I don't even think the guy likes dogs all that much, or even horses for the matter. He spooks like a squirrel whenever Chavo gets the jump on him. Kate: 𝗢𝗱𝗱. Diego: Real Odd.
Tumblr media
Diego: Still- It'll be nice to see the old place alive and kickin' again once this all gets properly started up.
She's been sittin' quiet and empty for too long. It just ain't right.
Tumblr media
Diego: We used to have these big grand cookouts here when I was younger.
Neighborin' townsfolk would come round with some instruments for music, and there'd be good food, bad dancin' and loud singin' all night- til either yer feet gave out or yer stomach did from all the twirlin'.
Tumblr media
Kate: I bet you were a popular dance partner. Diego: Would have been rude to say no to a pretty girl. And even ruder to leave one sittin' on the sidelines all on their lonesome. Kate: How noble. Diego: S'Just good manners.
Tumblr media
Kate: It sounds like fun. Diego: It was- Not much use for the old Gazebo nowadays, but she's pretty enough to look at so I guess they decided she was worth keeping around for now.
Tumblr media
Kate: If all this hurts you so much- why do you stay? Why not just pick up and leave?
Tumblr media
Diego: And where would I go?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Diego: My whole life is just this place. Every horse in that stable is my responsibility now. That's not just somethin' I can drop so easy. This ranch, it's a part of me- no matter how much glitter they manage to pile on it.
Tumblr media
Diego: I'm afraid I'm stuck.
Tumblr media
Kate: My parents don't talk to each other. Diego: What?
Tumblr media
Kate: They really should have been divorced a long time ago- all they ever did was fight.
I think they refused half out of spite, half out of whatever superiority complex it gave them being the only married couple still together in their posh friend group.
Tumblr media
Diego: And you? Kate: They doted on me. Competitively. It was stressful. Everything had to be perfect. At least on the outside. But most of the time? I just wanted to scream.
When I left Brindleton for Del Sol I don't know which of us was the most relieved.
Tumblr media
Diego: I'm real sorry to hear that.
Tumblr media
Kate: Don't be. Wasn't your fault. And my therapist told me it wasn't mine either so there's no point in crying about it.
Plus the Valley is pretty nice- weather's good at least. Less constant rain. But sometimes I do miss the snow.
Tumblr media
Diego: C'mon, follow me- I wanna show you somethin'. Kate: What? What are you up to now? Diego: 𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗲- 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱.

headcanon for joel!!! where reader hires joel to build her idk like a gazebo😭 and he does and they slooooooowly start to fall in love and they start to go out for a few months but he’s scared to introduce her to sarah.
No outbreak!Joel Miller x f!reader
A/N: bestie omg this is too cute, you made my heart warm and melt 😭🥰
Tumblr media
• You've always loved gazebos and it was a dream of yours to have one, and once the money allowed it you called a local contractor firm to get it done for you
• you had spoken with the guy named Joel over the phone, apparently he was the owner and he explained to you the service would probably be simple and quite fast
• you gave him your address so he would stop by to check the place he would build your gazebo
• when he knocked on your door the next day you were shocked: you didn't expect your contractor to be that hot
• but he was, and even if he was professional, he looked at you up and down when you were distracted, after all, he didn't expect to find such a beautiful girl hiring his services
• after the initial shock, he went on with his work, always so professional but yet, he couldn't ignore he was developing a crush on you
• little did he know you were also having a crush on him, so even if you knew you would have to let him work without bothering him, you would find any excuse to be around and make small talk
• and Joel didn't mind it at all, quite the opposite, he loved it, because you were just so gorgeous and sweet, the conversation became quite personal
• he had told you he was a single dad and his daughter was named Sarah and that she was the smartest girl he'd ever seen
• and you loved to hear him talk about her because he was just so proud it made your heart melt
• you also told Joel a lot about yourself and that was how you two spent the days together
• when your gazebo was finally done, you felt both sad and happy; you finally had a beautiful garden but at the same time, you wouldn't see Joel
• he felt upset too, and he was still battling to figure out if he should invite you out or not
• he had convinced himself not to do it, after all why would a pretty girl like yourself want a man like him?
• but something about the way you hugged him goodbye when he said he was leaving, made him change his mind
• and he invited you out
• you said yes and one date became many
• but he was still kinda worried about introducing you to Sarah
• you didn't say anything about it, not wanting to pressure him at all
• so you and Sarah met by chance when you were at the mall
• you and Joel had to stop by so you would buy a birthday present to your friend before you headed for the bar her party would be at and Sarah was hanging out with her friends
• you'd never seen Joel so shy before, as if he had been caught red handed doing something wrong
• but Sarah was such a polite and sweet girl, she hugged you and immediately made you feel welcome even if it was a brief encounter
• the next day Joel invited you for a family lunch so you would meet his daughter properly and of course the two of you hit off
• and after that, you became part of the Miller family because both dad and daughter liked you a lot
• Sarah had found a friend and a mother figure, and Joel had found love and his future wife

Chapter Three
Read from the beginning

Chapter Two> <Chapter Four
The ornate mirror held her reflection with a grand poise. A poise, Khushi desperately wished she possessed at the moment.
She stood up, startling Sumi, who was curling her hair to the utmost perfection.
“Khushi baby” she grumbled disapprovingly.
She walked up to her window, overseeing the gazebo in the grounds. Her mummy stood supervising the brunch set up, rivalling an army officer’s precision.
“The Raizadas are coming for brunch!”
She had announced so happily last night. And Khushi then saw the triumphant glance shared between her parents, so she had curbed her usual whining.
“Perfect opportunity to bag the contract”, her papa had said.
She sighed despondently. Sumi grabbed her arm and plopped her in front of the dresser. Khushi smiled sheepishly, while Sumi kept on scolding.
She was reminded of when she was five and Sumi, her matronly maid, would help her get dressed. Only back then she didn’t have to worry about facing a devilish man.
————
Laughter filled the air, cutlery making their presence known and the famous Gupta delicacies made it to the plates.
Khushi smiled as she brought out the teapot.
She took her seat next to Akash and sighed in relief as Mr. Arnav was nowhere in sight.
She knew Akash as well as the back of her hand since they were toddlers and could draw some comfort that she had someone to talk to.
“Hey”
Khushi looked up and saw a handsome young man, with gentle eyes and the most pleasing smile.
God! He even has dimples! She thought with a tinge of jealousy.
“Do you mind?” He gestured to the chair on her right, interrupting her perusal smoothly.
“Of course not, “ she smiled back.
“Khushi, meet Noah Kelly Raizada, my cousin. Noah, meet my friend, Khushi Gupta “ , Akash chimed in.
“Noah Kelly?” she asked after he had settled down.
“Yes. My mum’s an American. And my dad, well he’s a Raizada,” he said with an embarrassed laugh.
“You didn’t grow up here?”
“Nope. Otherwise I wouldn’t have passed up the opportunity to be friends with such a beautiful girl!” he winked mischievously.
Khushi giggled, blushing at the compliment.
“Sorry, I’m late”
A booming voice made everyone look up at the newly arrived Raizada. Mr Arnav looked impeccable, except the frown between his brows.
“Arnav beta! Welcome! Grab a seat and pile up your plate!“ her papa greeted enthusiastically, before diving back into his conversation with the senior Raizada.
Khushi looked at Shyam, who was clutching his fork, his fury visible in his clenched jaws. Hoping for the brunch to pass by smoothly, she brought her attention back to her eggs.
“So what do you do Khushi?”
Smiling at Noah, she said, “ I am working as an assistant interior designer at my aunt’s firm.”
Unknown to her, her face was aglow with love for the work she did.
Before Noah could get a word in, Arnav interrupted rudely, “Typical “.
“Excuse me?” Khushi asked, her back straightening in defence.
“ Your aunt gave you the job, so you could have something to do”
“And you assume that? How, may I ask?”
“Um, Arnav can you pass me the bre-“ Noah attempted to break the tension.
“Well, nepotism is the answer. Who else would hire the nineteen year old decorator?”
She breathed in deeply. Blinking her eyelids, to keep herself from shedding angry tears. She looked up, straight into his eyes.
“ I am not a ‘decorator’. I am someone with a degree in interior designing, who got hired by an aunt, who is well known in Lucknow for her professionalism. And how is it any different from the Raizada enterprises? You are the son of the eldest Raizada heir, so because of the nepotism  you hate so much you are the next boss. And a class-A jerk at that! Excuse me.”
Her chair scraped against the floor. She hastened off, after whispering an excuse of a headache in her mum’s ear, ignoring a pair of eyes imploring her to look at him.
—————
Her heels clicked down the stairs, as Khushi heard noises coming from the drawing room.
She was greeted by her mother the next moment, as she was guiding the help to take tea to whoever was working with her papa.
“Aah! Khushi! Dancing again?”
She looked at her mum with suspicious eyes. She had never been happy about her evenings at the club. Maybe the brunch had worked out well.
“Yes, I am meeting my friends there.”
“Oh well, please spare my poor heart and don’t drive by yourself. Take Hari Prakash with you!”
And with that she hurried into the drawing room.
And off she went in search of Hari Prakash, her mother’s trusted spy!
————
Soft music blasted from the car stereo, as she found herself drifting off to what happened that afternoon.
What a rude man!
She knew the Raizadas were filthy rich and such people tend to raise kids to become bratty adults. But she didn’t expect the man who had tricked her, quite charmingly, into accepting a date with him to humiliate her.
Decorator! He had reduced her education to nothing!, she thought angrily.
The car rolled into the basement parking , and Khushi took the elevator to the Ray’s club, a place frequently haunted by Lucknow’s wealthy kids.
No more thinking Khushi! Just have fun tonight! She thought furiously, determined to not let anyone spoil her evening.
—————
“Khuuuushiiiii” Preetika smiled gleefully, her slurred shout barely audible over the music.
She hugged her, and sneaked in a whisper
“How much did you drink already?”
Three perfectly manicured fingers were lifted up and Khushi knew her friend was going to dominate the dance floor in a few minutes .
Payal joined the two and soon they were dragged towards a table.
“ It’s the summer of 86 darling! Have a martini and forget your worries!” Payal sang, handing a glass to Khushi.
“One drink! That’s all I can have!”
“Stop-pp being a b-bore K!” Preetika scolded.
“I am serious! HP is down in the basement”
Payal looked at her aghast.
“Why couldn’t you tell aunty I could drop you?”
Khushi rolled her eyes.
“As if you don’t know Garima Gupta well enough”
“ I just know that she loves her daughter too much!” Payal laughed.
She looked down at her watch.
“Awaiting A-Akash are w-we?”
“Well yes Preeto! Who else? He is bringing dates for you two by the way “
“WHAT?” Khushi’s heart skipped a beat.
“Well yeah some American cousin of his and another friend. Chill Khushi!“
Khushi sat back down, not really hearing Preetika’s inquiries about the American cousin.
Her fear was not unfounded, but she knew Akash and Noah had heard her fight with Arnav. Hoping they will be sensitive enough, she absently gulped down her martini at once.
Soon her arm was tugged and she was pulled onto the dance floor. The disco lights blinded her, but she swayed to the music, shouting out the lyrics with Preeto and giggling at Payal’s awkward but spirited moves.
Khushi Gupta, true to the martini’s promise, forgot all about her worries as Kishore Kumar blared through the speaker.
Bolo ommmmm, shanti ommmmm!
—————
Sweaty and happy, the trio sat down at their table.
Trust Payal to ensure appetisers and more drinks to already be at their table.
“ I wanna dance more! “ Preeto shouted.
“ Well, dance away with the American once he’s here!”
Khushi smiled as she sipped her martini, forgetting all about the one drink rule.
“Payal!”
They looked up to see Akash and Noah walk up to them. Preeto stood up first and muttered a soft “oh my god!” under her breath.
“Meet my cousin Noah Kelly Raizada “ Akash winked at Preeto, well aware of her interest.
“ Please Akash… you guys can call me NK, I prefer it in fact!” he said, while rubbing the back of his neck adorably.
Payal laughed.
“Well NK, meet my friends! Khushi and Preetika.”
“Aah Khushi we meet again”
Khushi smiled back, hoping her untimely exit would not be the topic of discussion.
“What?”
“K! How dare you?”
Payal and Preeto looked at her curiously.
“Guptas hosted a brunch for the Raizadas girls” Akash said, saving Khushi from the trouble.
“ And why were you invited?” Preeto quizzed.
“My mother is a Raizada, Preetika. How much did you drink already?”he laughed.
Payal elbowed Akash. “Where is Khushi’s date?” She whispered unsuccessfully.
A guilty look flooded his face, while relief flooded through Khushi.
“ It’s fine Akash! I don’t need a da-“
“ He is here” a voice sounded behind her and she turned to look into the brown orbs, igniting her fury, misery and her lust at once.
