What if Captain Marvels golden bangles are just very tightly wrapped garrotes (if you're unaware what garrotes are it's basically a piece of material wrapped around ones wrist that was used for assassination)

Now imagine

Justice league fighting a big bad demon (nothing new) they're struggling to get rid of it

They noticed that Marvel floated up behind the demon and unwraped one of his bangles (which are apparently a cloth)

He then wraps the cloth around the demons neck and chokes it to death

This strikes up some questions

got out of the loop of drawing for a while before Artfight, so I asked my friend @kettlebird-casual what prompt I should use to get back into it with, and they suggested "garrote" - so here are two complete professionals just getting ready for a con... They used to execute people with the garrote in Andorra???

It was only used once. The first garrote arrived to Andorra in 1854, and the only time it was used was for a murderer sentenced to death in 1860. The Andorran authorities had to go to France to find an executioner because not a single person in Andorra wanted to do it.

That garrote is kept by Andorra's museums and some years back was exhibited in the Andorra's government hall, because the government claimed it's a part of Andorra's history even if it's a tragic one.

(Compare that to Spain, which has been using the garrote for centuries to kill hundreds of political dissidents, until 1974, and the Spanish governments never showed as much repentance as Andorra's.)

The last death sentence in Andorra was in 1943 to a man found guilty of murdering his brother. The Andorran Constitution (passed in 1993) explicitly forbids the death sentence.

Meal concept: I think daggers have had it too good for too long. The new emergency backup weapon for all strength based characters is garrote wires. They are hotter, more brutal, lead to more intimate struggles and are badass. Little rogues and acrobats can keep daggers tho they need some bit of oomph

Garrote

Warnings: kidnapping, strangulation, implied torture

Whumpee crept silently through the dark woods. They hated that Caretaker lived this far out into the woods, but also knew that Caretaker loved to be surrounded by the trees. And so they made the trek out regularly because they loved Caretaker.

Perhaps one day they could convince Caretaker to move to a little closer to society.

The sky was dark, no moon to light their way, and the stars were tiny winking lights. Whumpee enjoyed these kinds of nights. It wasn't cold, but it wasn't hot. They could see why Caretaker liked this part of living out here.

Whumpee froze as someone grabbed them from behind and slipped something over their head. A thick wire of sorts tightened around their neck, slowly cutting off their airway.

"I wouldn't fight if I were you, garrotes are notoriously tricky. I'm just as likely to slit your throat as I am to strangle you," Whumper purred in Whumpee's ear.

Whumpee gasped for air as the wire constricted their throat almost completely. They had to get out of this somehow.

"Hold still, or it won't go well for you. I actually don't want to kill you."

Whumpee willed their body to be still, though it went against every fiber in their body. They willed their body to still, hoping that Whumper would give them a little more air.

"That's good, Whumpee. You're a good listener," Whumper crooned in Whumpee's ear, their breath hot and wet.

Whumpee sucked in what little air they could, greedily trying to gulp for more. The wire tightened once more. Whumpee froze, overriding the panic in their body.

Whumper loosened the wire a touch. "I'm going to enjoy getting you to follow my every direction. I'm going to enjoy hurting you and getting you to cooperate with it."

As Whumper hauled Whumpee back through the woods, Whumpee hoped that Caretaker had come part of the way to meet them. They dragged their feet, tossed their head, anything to leave a trail for Caretaker. Caretaker had to find them. Caretaker would find them. They just had to endure until then.
