Corroded Coffin’s got their own green room — backstage at one of the biggest music festivals of the year. There’s a team of people dressed in black waiting at their beck and call. Eddie’s pretty sure KISS is in the suite down the hall. As a boy from Middle of Nowhere, Indiana, he doesn’t feel very deserving of any of it.

He feels like he’s dreaming, really. The only thing keeping him from pinching himself is Dustin and Lucas’ roughhousing and Steve’s stupid belly laugh. Having all his childhood friends here is strangely humbling.

Eddie lazes on an expensive leather chair, totally unsure of what to do with himself when he’s not holding you. He’s trying to get comfortable in the foreign leather drab that stylists put him in when the door yawns open. It swings with such ferocity that the metal knob slams against the opposite wall with a low thud. It isn’t any surprise that the culprit is Robin Buckley.

She storms in first, followed more quietly by you some seconds later.

“Woah, woah, woah— what happened?” Eddie wonders aloud, already on edge with anxiety. Robin swooping in like a dark grey storm cloud doesn’t make it any better.

You shrug with a tin of Christmas cookies in your hand. Some are already missing because you wanted to pass them out to the workers. “It’s not like I don’t have enough to go around,” you’d said with a shy chuckle, nodding to the table lined with homemade pastries. You always bake when you’re nervous.

“We bumped into someone on the way back,” you explain in a gentle murmur, mindful of the emotional girl across the room. “I think she might’ve known him…”

“You didn’t recognize him?” Robin blurts from where she’s flopped on the leather couch. Her eyes go wide, the edges of them smudged with brown eyeliner. The look she gives you makes you cower.

“…No?”

“That was Roger Taylor,” she tells you. And then, when it still doesn’t hit you— “From Queen.”

Your doe eyes flood with a similar, more innocent look of shock. “That’s who that was?”

Robin groans and shoves her face into the fluffy throw pillow beneath her. She decides to talk to the only person in the room who could understand her and her wild emotions. Steve, sitting next to her with cookie crumbs all over his mouth, somehow manages to cipher her mumbled, emotional slurs.

“You don’t get it— it was like seeing an angel, Steve. He was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen— and I don’t even like men!”

“Yeah, so that’s definitely saying something,” the boy mumbles through a mouthful of pastry.

Eddie, still wide-eyed with amazement, turns to look up at you. You’re lingering at his side, a sweet thing dressed in pastel pink. He reaches over to smooth a hand over your pale tights. His ringed fingers are almost achingly warm when they curl around the back of your thigh. He tilts his chin to smile at you with all his teeth.

“I thought you loved Queen, babe,” he chuckles, squeezing gently at your leg.

“I do,” you insist, always shy in your way, as you shift your weight on your feet. Your sheepish gaze flits to the tray in your hand — to the hand-made snowmen, trees, and snowflakes. “I just didn’t know that’s what he looked like.”

“Was he pretty?” Eddie teases with a knowing squint in his chocolate eyes.

You shrug, burning with misplaced embarrassment. “I don’t know… I didn’t really look,” you mutter. His chest swells with something short of pride. “They just wanted to try my cookies—”

“That’s what she said,” Gareth quips. Followed by an audible slap when Jeff reaches over to smack him. “—Ow!”

“Was Freddie Mercury there?” Dustin wonders from across the room, smiling wide at the thought. His giggle is boyish and high-pitched. “That’d be insane.”

You shake your head in response. “No— but now that I think about it, that’s probably why they said they needed to take some extra for Fred. There was another guy there, though.”

“Yeah?” Eddie lilts to egg you on.

“Yeah. He kinda looked like a poodle—”

“Brian May!” the room choruses.

“Um…” you mumble under your breath. “Maybe?”

“One of the best guitarists of our time Brian May?” Robin wonders, a tad bit dramatic, and filled with life all over again. “Astrophysicist and super genius Brian May?”

Your smile is innocent and utterly sincere. “Oh, he’s an astrophysicist? That’s so cool!”

Robin groans again, and you flinch.

“…What?”

“Nothing,” Eddie answers for her, squeezing your leg to bring your attention back to him again. His rosy grin widens when your eyes meet his. “You’re just cute.”

Your face heats like it’s the first time he’s ever complimented you. Your warm cheek tilts to your shoulder as you smile quietly back at him. “Well, thank you,” you mutter shyly.

“Why can’t anything good happen to me?” Robin whines.

Steve doesn’t mean to laugh, but it tumbles out before he can stop it. “It did happen to you. You were there.”

“Well, it didn’t feel good at the time!”

The door creaks open again. Nancy and Jonathan walk in together, fashionably late. It wouldn’t be surprising if she stopped a couple of musicians for impromptu interviews and didn’t take ‘no’ for an answer — bound to be on the front page of Hawkins Post come Sunday morning.

Jonathan, however, looks a little bit dazed. “Is that— Is that Queen in the hallway?” he whispers to the group of you, like he’s scared the band might hear him.

“Yep,” Robin deadpans in response, popping the p.

“Ooh. Smells like a bakery in here,” Nancy lilts with a pretty pink smile.

You get all shy because it’s entirely your fault. “Yeah. Sorry. I kinda… went overboard with the cookies.”

“Don’t be sorry. I love when you bake us stuff,” she assures you, then bites the head off of a sugary snowman. She sighs at the heavenly taste and nods with it stuck in her cheek. “Don’t ever, ever be sorry.”

You giggle all pretty in response.

Jonathan reaches into the tray and pulls out a crumpled piece of paper. “Woah. What’s this?”

“Oh. Shit. Sorry. I meant to throw that away—”

Nancy rips it from his hands. She straightens it out as best she can and squints when she finds writing on the back of it. She grins like she’s found some kind of hidden treasure. 

“Wait, this is someone’s phone number,” she announces to the rest of them room. She reads it out loud for all of you, each of you on the edges of your metaphorical seats. “Thanks for the cookies, but I bet you taste sweeter. I’m free after the show. Call me. Roger.”

The room goes deadly silent.

Eddie is among the gaping mouths of shock, unsure if he should be jealous or amused.

“He wanted to try your cookies, alright,” Gareth chuckles under his breath. Jeff snorts out a laugh, then reaches over to slap him again. The curly-haired boy cowers. “Oh, come on! You thought it was funny, too!”

“Let me see that,” Eddie insists, rising on his feet to take the paper from Nancy’s painted fingertips. 

His brown eyes flit back and forth as he reads it for himself. Once, then twice, then a few more times after that. He’s about to play a show for thousands of people, yet this is somehow harder for him to grasp.

“Roger Taylor wants to fuck my girlfriend,” he murmurs in amazement to himself.

For some reason, feeling the need to defend yourself, you rush to get the words out. “I didn’t know that’s what that was, Eds, I swear— I figured he thought I worked here, and he was just giving me his trash to throw away.”

Eddie turns to you, still silent. His chocolate eyes are slightly glazed over as he blinks at you — the sweetest thing he’s ever laid his eyes on, so polite in her shyness and aloof with it, too. 

Still in a state of subtle disbelief about all of this — the phone number, the looming performance, and the fact he ever landed you in the first place — he shakes his wild head with a dumbfounded smile.

“I love the shit outta you, you know that?” he says with a burst of low, boyish laughter. He doesn’t give you the opportunity to answer before wrapping you up in his leather-clad arms and pressing a smothering kiss to your mouth.

Every Friday night, there were new people waiting at the bar.

Of course, there were the band's regular groupies, as well. Ones that were on a first name basis with the boys.

Jeff was fond of a pair of sisters, Candy and Ronnie. They typically came by about once a month, all too innocent in appearance and demeanor. He made them take turns, sitting one outside his hotel room door to wait while he had his way with the other.

Brian, the bass player, preferred to pick out someone new with every gig. He liked to "peruse the menu", as Eddie liked to say. He did have a thing for Crystal, though. That is, when she wasn't with Gareth.

Gareth was, what Eddie called, "A Soup Kitchen". He never turned people away. If you wanted some lovin', you could have it. Why not? There's plenty to go around. As long as you don't mind sharing a bed with six or seven people, that is.

And then there was Eddie...

As much as you loved watching the boys play, the first-timers at the bar often put on enough of a show to keep you entertained all on their own. You sat in the same spot every Friday night, a knowing smirk tugging at your lips as you listened to what they said about him.

"I want him to play me like he plays that guitar."

"Dibs on the one with the tattoos..."

"I hear he likes to handcuff you to the bed."

"Aw, you guys are cute... I wouldn't bother, though."

You took a sip of your drink as you watched a girl with jet black hair push aside the tall, lanky boy that'd been blocking her view.

He'd been the one curious about the handcuff rumor. Ironically, you'd previously had the thought that he was the only one of the group that Eddie would have been halfway interested in, sexually.

The dark haired girl's heels clicked as she eyed Eddie up and down, hungrily. "He requested me by name, tonight. The bouncer said so."

You couldn't help but snort at her words. There was no chance. Even if she had been his type,  Eddie sawed logs on the dressing room couch like he was in a coma up until he went onstage, and it wasn't like he could make requests of the bouncer mid-song.

She flipped around, shooting you a venomous look. "What, you think that's funny?" She snapped at you, arms crossing over her chest

"Yeah, I do." You stirred your drink, unbothered.

All eyes turned to you. Crystal sent you a wink from across the bar where she watched the scene.

The dark haired girl stalked over to you, her false lashes framing her clear blue eyes. "Care to explain the joke?"

You smiled as you looked her up and down, "I just...I'm not sure you're not his type."

She scowled, "And what is his type? You?"

You laughed, shrugging. "I guess...To be honest, he probably wouldn't mind having his way with 'Handcuffs' over there, either."

The boy's eyes widened as you nodded in his direction. He really was pretty. A real Roger Taylor type if you ignored his height. He blushed, pointing to himself. "Me?"

You shot him a wink. The dark haired girl was fuming now. Her pale cheeks had gone completely red.

"You're funny." She growled the words, narrowing her eyes.

You immediately lost her attention as Eddie spoke into the microphone, "We're Corroded Coffin! You guys fuckin' rock! We'll see you next week!"

The crowded bar erupted in drunken cheers, glasses raised. Eddie lifted his guitar to them in return, sending another round of yells through the room.

He waved awkwardly at the dark haired girl as he bounded through the crowd to you, grinning. She came up behind him, calling his name, but he didn't even look over. You couldn't help but fight a smile. Poor thing. He wasn't being rude; Rather, he just hadn't heard her over the ringing that his music had left in his ears.

You feigned annoyance at his neediness as he held you tightly from behind, burying his face in the skin of your neck. You laughed through a whine, feeling his sweaty chest against your back, "Fuck, Eds, you're nasty. Go take a shower."

He beamed, as if you'd given him a badge of honor.  "Where were you last week?"

His voice was hushed, but it was more of a stage-whisper than he'd intended, unable to gauge volume quite yet.

"Who's asking?"

He groaned, "Someone who was very horny and very disappointed."

"Aw..." You cooed, pinching his flushed cheek playfully. "Poor baby had to fuck someone else for a change."

He shook his head, curls bouncing. "It wasn't even worth it. Just got all mopey and jerked off." You grinned, as he pecked your lips. "Did you clock the blonde?"

"Pretty isn't he?' You cooed as his kisses grew lazy. "I knew you'd like him. You want to ask him to join us?"

"Not tonight." He hummed, "Can we invite him for next week? Just want you all to myself, right now."

You made eye contact with the lanky boy as Eddie sucked your neck, your gaze dark. He blushed wildly when you smiled, crooking your finger to coax him over to you.

"His face was priceless." Eddie giggled later as the two of you lounged in the back of his van. He took another hit from the joint, holding it for a moment before letting the smoke plume above his head.

The van was smokey and warm. The ugly, rough carpet had long since been covered by a rug, and he'd put down layers and layers of thick blankets to make a rather comfortable palette. The belly of the van had lights on the ceiling that he could click on, just like any normal car would, and they made for nice, dim lighting for hot boxing and drug fueled sex. He'd always joked that this was the Hideout, not the bar.

You grinned, admiring his big brown eyes as you plucked the joint from his fingers, "It was sweet!"

"Oh, It was fuckin' precious. He's gonna be real good for us. I can just tell. He looked like he would've dropped to his knees right there in the bar if we'd asked."

You hummed darkly, sitting up and moving to straddle Eddie's hips. His hand snuck up your thigh lazily, only to find your hip bare of any waistband. No panties. His eyes locked with yours, mischief splitting his expression. "You're eager tonight."

You bit your lip teasingly as his big hand came around to squeeze your ass, giving it a slap.

"Guess whoever you replaced me with last week didn't fuck you as good, huh? Bet you've been waiting to get dicked down all week."

His eyes were hooded and red-rimmed as he stared up at you, his dark curls splayed beneath him on a throw pillow he'd snatched.

You lifted your skirt from between your legs, giving you better access to grind your clit against his belt buckle. You moaned softly. "Decided to stop in to see the Hellions. I haven't heard them play in ages." You admitted, rolling your hips.

He took another drag, his voice hungry. "And how were they?"

"Terrible. The guitarist could barely make me cum."

Eddie laughed boyishly, his tattoo peeking out from the collar of his t-shirt when he shifted, "Poor thing..." he cooed teasingly, sneaking his hand beneath your skirt to grant you some extra friction. "Gave him the ride of his life too, I bet."

You stilled a little, blushing. Eddie's brow quirked, "Didn't get that far."

"Oh?"

"Yeah..." You pushed up the hem of his shirt, tracing your fingers over the tattoo on his hip. "He fingered me backstage for like, thirty minutes, and then when I finally came I..." You trailed off, embarrassed.

You could see the realization hit him. His eyes went wide as he cackled, holding his stomach, "You moaned my name! You fuckin' moaned my name, didn't you?"

You nodded, ashamed, and he rubbed your thigh reassuringly. "He got so pissed, Eddie."

He grinned, his cheeks pink from laughter and weed. "Mhm...Serves the bastard right. You're fuckin' mine."

“[…] Craig Weir, 21, was asked by Queen guitarist Brian May to start the band's encore rendition of We Will Rock You on the bagpipes as a surprise for the audience on the Scottish leg of their world tour.

Mr May chose the young piper after hearing about how he and his band Gleadhraich promote the bagpipes to young people by using them on arrangements of classic rock songs as well as their own rock-based tunes.

The performance took place at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow last night.

Mr Weir said: "The opportunity to stand on stage and play with Brian May, Roger Taylor and Adam Lambert was absolutely incredible, one of the best moments of my life. I got such an adrenaline buzz from it.

‘I have to thank Brian May for such an incredible opportunity. He seemed really pleased with me and the first thing he did when he got off-stage was give me a big hug.

‘When I got an email from Brian May asking me to play with them I thought it was a wind-up.

‘But it soon became clear it really was him and he really was asking me to play with them at their Scots show.

‘When I was confirmed for the gig I instantly got the shakes. I couldn't believe it. To say I've stood on stage and played with Queen is more than a little ridiculous!’”

He said: ‘I didn’t know Brian and had never spoken to him before I got the email from him. I suppose I thought it was a wind up but the other half of me thought it was real. I’m still trying to get head round it.

‘We spoke about it first in October and then after chatting about more Brian confirmed it in November. I don’t even know how he knew about me.’

He said: ‘I chatted with Brian about music and the late Freddie Mercury in the dressing room for about 15 minutes before watching them from side of stage. He said Glasgow had always been good to Queen.

‘Just before the encore I stood on the walkway and played a chorus of We Will Rock You before the band joined in and Adam start singing.’

They let me take my family and girlfriend backstage for drinks and a meet afterwards and my dad was so starstruck he couldn’t even speak.’

He added: ‘They gave me a signed set list and Brian is keeping in touch.’

Brian May is a guitar god by most people’s standards. I’d never really considered his talent until standing there watching him effortlessly play. It hadn’t crossed my mind that he was the only guitarist in the band, and he carried the melody for everything. In every song his riffing was off the scale, his solos and guitar work were on point and a joy to behold. And then there was Adam Lambert.

Never trying to sound like Freddie Mercury, obvious comparisons were no doubt being made all around the room as we watched this performance. […]”
