I can already imagine a whole show dedicated to Zaun and its factions.

Sevika trying to keep the lanes in check after Silco's death. Her conflict and clashing with Jinx continuing, eventually reaching a boiling-point once Sevika finds out Jinx was the one that killed Silco.

The gangwar between Smeech, Margot and Chross. their goal is to take Silco's seat as Zaun's leader, but how would each of them rule it? What do each of them specialize in? What are their respective goals and aspirations? What would they do with shimmer? Imagine we follow this whole conflict through Smeech.

Viktor's whole cult (in which his followers aren't brainless shells), a valuable place the chembarons would definitely fight over the second they find it. There can still be some religious aspects attached to it with the church of the glorious evolved, but with no magical arcane robo bullshit attached.

Salo, having become Viktor's right-hand man, trying to pull strings in Piltover for the cause. Given Ambessa's rule over the city, I can imagine Salo eventually ditching it once he has no political power or say anymore on Topside and permanently staying in Zaun to help the cult out that way, maybe even creating Zaun's own council with him representing Viktor's faction. Either way, it returns the political aspect and intrigue season 2 lacks. (It's also a nice mirror to have one Piltovan in Zaun, when s1 had one Zaunite in Piltover).

Have the Jinxes (including Isha) actually commit crimes in Jinx's name, be it in Piltover or just against patrolling enforcers. Imagine Steb witnessing or becoming victim to one of their crimes, imagine Caitlyn finding out once he reports back.

Scar leading the Firelights after Ekko's disappearance. Imagine them dealing with the Jinxes causing chaos while maybe taking in Zaunites who became victims of their crimes.

The Ballad of Bighole

Prelude

The Myth of Magnaformus, known to locals as 'The Ballad of Bighole', is a retelling of the events of the Bighole gangwar of late M41. This gang war, while not more than a footnote in the annals of Necromundan history, became legend among the drudges of the House of Iron, eventually being turned into the eponymous ballad sung by road gangs across the planet as they traveled the ashroads. Here follows its inciting incident:

Vivian Merdena is missing, and gang warfare is kindling throughout Bighole. Nobody knows for sure where she has gone or what has happened to her, but everybody has heard a rumour or two and has an opinion to share

Some say she wasn't happy with a stationary life and has run off with a Roadboss to live life on the roads of Necromunda. Others say that a Delaque assassin put her down in one of the cavernous ore silos that dot the upper levels of Bighole. And furtive whispers are passed that she is making a move against her father, laying low to bait him into an ambush.

But no matter the cause of her disappearance, it has left a power vacuum that gangs of every house are scrambling to fill. From the lowest flooded sump level to the highest enforcer compound, all have something to gain from the coming anarchy. And all the while, a strange signal has been detected emanating from the toxic depths of the pit, could this have something to do with Vivian's disappearance, or could it signal something more esoteric is afoot? Is this the start of a new golden age or the first signs of rust tearing into the settlement of Bighole?

The Ballad of Bighole is a Necromunda 2017 Dominion campaign with narrative elements set in Magnaformus, a settlement carved into the side of an ancient pit mine north of the Primus Cluster, known by the locals as Bighole.

This campaign is a long time in the making and really was a call to action for a different and much grander project i have used as daydream fodder for many years now. But with my regular play partner soon to be emigrating to Australia, it seemed like it was now or never for a narrarive campaign of some kind, and Necromunda was there to scratch the itch.

To show the kind of stuff i have been accumulating for the evenual dream campaign, here are some photos of my accumulated '40k adjacent roleplaying minis' featuring lots of different factions, civilians and hangers on, and a few wee beasties for good measure. There is a whole extra pile of shame dedicated to this project that will remain unphotographed.

So to prepare for the camapign, as its host and architect, i needed terrain. I already have plenty of 40k style terrain, but its a bit too 'ruined cathedral' for my needs. Plus to fill a necromunda board I would need much much more. Perhaps make my own out of cardboard and other crafty type mateials? Maybe, but i needed this quick as my emigree friend and I are known for our wandering eyes when it comes to big projects and i would have to learn from scratch if i was to do thia. So how was I to do this quickly, but without breaking the bank?

My plan was simple: cheap on the bulk, spend on the details. i.e TTCOMBAT MDF terrain for most of what I needed, and then a few GW kits thrown in to give it that truly 41st millenium feel. This would allow me to have a variety of terrain that could be used in different ways and would all be of a similar scale. So I got to work. I could go through all the details, but here is a photo montage of putting together and painting the core of the terrain.

With the gangs gathered and enough terrain to play a game, we gathered arms and had a day of gaming! I shall go into detail about the test game and the 2 propper battles we played in a different post as I have run out of photos allowed in the app, but the Ballad of Bighole has officially begun!

Van Ito through the Years.

2065: After her brother decided to work for Arasaka, Van took to the streets. Her stubborn attitude had dictated that she would rather be homeless than suckling the teat of the company that killed her parents. It wasn't long before she found family within a small gang that ran a couple streets in Watson called The Neon Foxes. They peddled drugs, hassled people, and occasionally robbed a bodega or two here and there. Like most small time gangs, they had dreams of making a name for themselves but in a place like Night City, that was always going to be a struggle. The gang was made up mostly of teenagers and young adults, their leader, Dodger, being the oldest of the bunch at twenty-five. They did find themselves in a handful of gangwars with other small gangs for their territory. It was during one of these fights Van got caught by a grenade and while she made it out with her life, her arm and hand weren't so lucky. Her chosen cyberware to replace what was lost would eventually become a staple part of her look.

2068: At eighteen, Van left the family she had made within The Neon Foxes. She was still young and disillusioned enough to have hopes and dreams and she desperately needed to be making eddies in order to achieve those dreams. Van began working as a dancer at the Cobra Club, a sleezy club found on Jig-Jig Street. While she had been on her own for many years, this was the first time she truly felt independent as she had her own studio apartment, a paying job, and was consistently booking shows with her band Vito and the Sparks. She still found herself pulled into doing jobs, her connections from The Neon Foxes reaching out and asking for help from time to time. This would also be the year she met the man she considered to be her closest choom, Jackie Welles. The two were put on a job together by a mutual contact and after things went south, Jackie pulled her bleeding ass out of trouble and the rest is history.

2072: While her music career was still the most important thing to Van, it didn't pay the bills. With someone like Jackie by her side, it was easy to slip into the solo lifestyle. They shared connections and jobs, doing what they could to help one another out whenever they had the chance. This time of her life was filled with scrapes, bruises, and bullet holes but nothing she couldn't handle. It was around this time that her band fell out, the other members putting other priorities over it. With the lack of success they experienced, it wasn't a surprise to Van, but she was still disappointed. Starting over was never easy but the struggle was alleviated by Jackie, Misty, and the few contacts she still had from her old gang, though they were reluctant to help her since she left them. She would drop the stage name and rebrand herself a bit

2077: Losing Jackie was a blow she hadn't been preparing for but it helped her when she found out she was a ticking time bomb not long for this world. If there was a heaven or a hell or some sort of afterlife, maybe he'd be there waiting. Van's impending death was a bitter sweet feeling as the aftermath of the job they had done set her up with some incredible connections. People like Lizzy Wizzy and Kerry Eurodyne basically falling into her lap. It was like she was finally getting where she wanted to be in life and by some cruel twist of fate, Night City would take one last thing from her. While that thought could have paralyzed her, Van decided to roll with it, taking advantage of favours owed to her in the off chance her and the rag-tag group of friends she had made on this journey could manage to find a way to prevent her death. That is where she is now, living her life day to day, taking complete advantage of every opportunity that comes her way, writing music, working stages all over Night City, and planning The Skin and Chrome tour with Lizzy Wizzy and the Metadwarves.
