I'm about to begin working on a dating sim game featuring my original world and characters alongside some friends of mine, but first I need YOUR HELP with finalising the line-up of dateable characters!

The currently decided dateables are as follows (with varied art pieces I've done of them included for visualisation purposes):

Enatras (he/him): known best for being the king of the Orchels, more commonly known as "dark gods". He's the god of destruction and the void, and he's had a history of violence. Currently he's trying to repent for his past actions by establishing diplomatic ties to his brother's group of gods. He's sarcastic, slightly suspicious, and definitely still seems evil despite his right-hand woman trying to assure you that he's just acting like that for fun.

Lendelrem (he/they/she): the god of life and death, their main job involves collecting spirits of those willing to move on and reincarnating them as plants and animals. They seem blank faced and unfeeling at first, but there's a lot of complex emotions hidden beneath their mask.

Karmelerre (she/they): Acrente's twin sister and the god of knowledge, she's one of the most responsible gods and takes her job very seriously. They act put together and strong in public, but behind the ornate doors of their library rests a tired woman, seeking comfort in the strong halls of books. She dedicates a large portion of their time to cleaning up their brother's messed.

Acrente (he/they): Karmelerre's twin brother and the god of creativity, known and widely loved by mortals for the huge parties they throw alongside their best friend. His irresponsible and fun loving demeanour is near constant, but when it falls it falls hard.

THE OPTIONS FOR THE FINAL 2 DATEABLES:

Soubern (she/her): the god of summer and one of the royal children, Soubern is the brightest of all her siblings. Lights up a room like sunlight and brings with her the warmth of summer. A comforting and kind character, known to fall in love easily. She also loves wearing the worst colour combinations known to god-kind as a way to annoy her brother.

Purzentry (he/they): the god of cats and adoptive father or Bezenade (god of bees). Purzentry is gruff and unfriendly at first, yet fiercely protective of their child. They're slow to warm up to new people, and he tends to linger in quiet places. Has seen a lot in his life and now wants to focus on their family.

Lozured (she/him): god of love in all its forms, she has a tendency to latch onto new people and make sure they know how amazing they are. An extremely positive god with a loving demeanour, he uses a lot of pet names and nick names for people, and is big on all forms of affection and love.

Unexrial (he/him): the Orchel god of death, Unexrial is pretty much the exact opposite of Lendelrem. Energetic, loud, and very expressive, Unexrial is widely viewed as one of the two nicest Orchel gods. As an added bonus, he comes with a dog/bug/thing (Dyanyre, the shadow creature depicted with him below).

Gonna be honest, Ruin was… bad…

I liked the designs of the animatronics, I’ll give it that, but man… Ruin was just an INCREDIBLY boring walking sim. It wasn’t scary in the least, the puzzles were painfully easy, almost condescendingly so, and what little story did exist in it was confusing as hell and/or poorly written. When you weren’t doing any of that, you were just walking around with nothing going on (even in the times there WAS something chasing you, the ai was genuinely so bad it may as well not have been following you at all). I’m still thoroughly convinced the Mimic was pulled out of someones ass at the last second after everyone got mad that Afton came back again, and this game was the mad scramble to try and make everything regarding Mimic make sense. God did it fall painfully short.

He woke up 5 minutes later when I was writing this and how sad I was

He listened a bit more to me yapping because I was excited to get back into it

And them he fell asleep again mid another rant about the same thing but I kept yapping because there was one other person in the call

But then that other person had to gi do the dishes and now I'm happier than I was at first because yay someone actually wanted to listen (... even if one fell asleep. The other one didn't have any complaints, though, and I am happy about it :D) but also I didn't get to finish my yapping session :(

I'm so glad you're saying the quiet part out loud game fandoms need to start gate keeping again because across the board all video game fandoms have seen a surge of garbage ooc content because the locals only engagement with it is a 3 second thirst cam on tik tok, then they apply the same ol leather dom daddy or uwu baby girl on the sexy white man of the moment rinse and repeat. Or they all come over here declare themselves king shitlord over a blorbo and pump out shittakes and headcanons that feed into an audience that's equally as uninformed or doesn't engage with the medium.

Meanwhile the folks who understand character and story nuances and have played or actually interacted with the games are left with surface level ooc BS to wade through so its very frustrating to see someone proudly admit they skipped out on something as character driven as Mgs and worse still that they have an audience consuming it.

Oh my gosh, yes, the damage that TikTok has done to these games is fucking horrific. They think if they watch 5 fan edits they can call themselves a fan, lol. Literally, they do not care about the games or the character's stories, despite what they say when they're defending themselves from gamers who call them out on their BS. They're just a bunch of brain-dead horny weirdos who invade fandom spaces, not to learn about the material but to force everyone to have to see their NSFW comments all the time (e.g., spamming the tags with smut and spamming people's gifs with their horny fantasies), but then don't produce anything else. No character analysis posts, no meta posts, no actual critiques of the gameplay/structure. Just smut and brain-dead bullshit. And when I say character analysis posts, I mean like actually dissecting the character, not just a fucking screenshot of fandom wiki and people going "uwu guys I didn't know this!" even though it was mentioned in the first 5 minutes of the campaign that they didn't play and/or watch. And then they think they're an authority on the game or a major name in the fandom, or that they even have an equal footing in this fandom, just because they have a couple of gross TikToks w/ a sped up song about some white dude bookmarked.

And yup! I haven't played MGS, but any one who has played video games for more than 2 weeks and has been a part of the subculture can tell you how historically and culturally important that game series is for all video games. And then they're like, not bothering to even play the games or understand the character lore. Just write smut about another blorbo you actually know nothing about and you're too lazy to learn about! Fucking pathetic. And the fact that we have to deal with it all the time, too, like you said? Fucking annoying.

It's also such an insult to the game developers who work countless hours on the games they claim they don't care about, but they're still writing pages upon pages of unrealistic porn about these developers' IP. Like, come on.

This time, about the so-decried plot :

So in a way, if the plot looked like FE1/3, well it was part of the games that inspired the devs to make Unicorn Overlord the game it is!

Anyways, the "character leaves his situation/place to learn and reach a conclusion" is old as fuck, but it works damn well, and I'm reminded of Zestiria where you basically trigger the bad ending if you don't bother playing the game aka travelling around, discovering the plot and learning why the "bad guy" came to be the "bad guy".

Which really pleasantly surprised me with this UO, because even if the "normal ending" has more lines for the character who received the ring of the maiden, the end is still... well, not the best one (and Baltro is still around!) and Alain, acting on his feelings from the first map, aka wanting revenge for his mom... well, the normal ending proves the randos in Alain and Virginia's C rapport convo right lol

Sadly, the devs thought people wouldn't be attached to asshole characters, when they are the one that draw the most attention nowadays (save for Shinon back then, but imo that's because the lord of FE9 is a fan-favorite).

I wonder if the "hearing someone badmouth someone makes you feel depressed" is a mistranslation/GT fail of some "hearing someone badmouth your fave will make you depressed", because a certain fandom has been taking this to heart, and some devoted people who were upset that their fave was "badmouthed" resorted to shitty irl stuff... But maybe that's not it, and the devs legit thought that writing a character on your side that some people would hate would create a shitty atmosphere in the fandom?

(again, everything throws me back to a certain fandom and how certain fans of a certain character were harassed/bullied and/or mocked by fellow fans, and at that, VA themselves which is, uh, completely bonkers, fandom is a place to have fun, not to be harassed)

I liked the "even if they insult each other, I want it to be meaningful", both because I found a lolcalisation goof lol, but also because some trend to make characters swear for anything became tiresome (or maybe I became old).
