~Galleryyuhself~ This advertisement for the National Stick Fighting Preliminaries is quite (literally) striking! 

The Graphic Designer has been able to sensibly use the motion of the Stick Fighters to convey the action involved in the competition. The solid red ‘V’ shape gives us a hint of the blows that are meted out.

There is enough negative space at the top of the page to display the sponsored trademarks that always seem to challenge good design but are necessary. The typography is also clean and and readable. 

The flames surrounding the fighters  recall the real flambeaux used at these events in the countryside....harking back to its origins. That is a very sensitive awareness of the sport being brought forth. I find the concept very well handled.
