Random Facts About The Kids
Bayverse!Turtles x reader

A/N: Just some random facts about the turtle kiddos in no particular order💙❤️💜🧡

Warnings: None💚🐢
Tumblr media
Both Luis and Gerardo have four fingers on each hand. That’s what happens when you cross a mutant turtle with a human. Each of the boys finds it immensely funny, mainly because they can effectively flip off their family members.
Other than following their brother around, Dorothy and Marie have a tendency to follow Sunny around, doing the things that she does, because she’s older and in their eyes, super cool. They tried doing the same with Joan and Mini, but they did not take very kindly to it.
Romeo, Joan and Galileo had made a “Big Siblings Club” where they went about their annoying little siblings. Sunny did not want to take part in this activity, as she had nothing bad to say about Luis.
Other than his father, Ragnar mirrors himself a lot in his uncle Mikey. It was Mikey that taught him how to skateboard, and helped him get over his little fear about falling and getting hurt.
Every year for Raph’s birthday, Mini knits him something, getting more and more elaborate each year. The latest being a teddy bear with a red bandana she had named “daddy teddy bear”. Raph still has the first thing she ever knitted him - a “blanket” that doesn’t even fit his whole hand.
Once Gali was old enough, at the age of 15, he and Donnie started setting up Gali’s own little lab in his bedroom. That was the day Gali put up a sign saying “no sisters allowed”.
While the other turtles have rules about not going out, until they’re old enough, Mikey was the cool dad that brought his kids to the surface with him. With one holding on to his shell and the other in his arms, he would jump around and show them New York City.
Splinter has baby pictures of all his grandchildren hanging in his bedroom.
Just like he did with his own son’s, whenever his grandchildren turn 15, he will provide them with a weapon they had favored.
Though it’s mainly their father’s that train them, each brother taking turns being the one training them for the day, Splinter often trains with his grandchildren. He is still Sensei and head of the family, and he likes to follow along in their development.
The mothers and partner of the turtles have girls night out at least once a month, while the turtles stay home and look after the children.
Even though Dorothy and Marie have their own rooms, it isn’t uncommon to find them sleeping in the same room.
Marcello and Mini are lactose intolerant.
Gali has a nut allergy.
Because the kids are half mutant turtles and half human, they grow and work differently. They were born the size of a human baby, and they grow at the same speed as a human. They’re even warm blooded.
They can chirp and churr, along with any other turtle sounds there are.
They have very very very small tails.
Their shells are smaller than their fathers’.
Luis has a teddy bear collection, made up of teddy bears his human grandparents have gotten him over the years. They are all proudly displayed on top of his bunk bed.
Gali has the biggest comic book collection out of all his cousins. He can almost put his uncle Mikey to shame.
When Marie was 4, she had a small crush on Casey and April’s kid.
Sunny’s room is bright yellow because… well… she’s Sunny.
Marcello loved to draw, and has proven to be a pretty good artist. During his brooding days, he tended to draw and paint, sometimes on the walls, causing his bedroom to look rather interesting.
Both Sunny and Luis have a small climbing wall in their rooms.
Ever since the twins were very small, Dorothy and Marie have wanted a puppy. And oh, how close their parents were to giving in.
Joan hates, hates, HATES the feeling of stickers. She hates the sound and she hates the feeling of the sticky side. She just can't stand it.
Val started hating the nickname "Princess" in her teen years, but even she could not deny the princess statues she had in her family. Did not help that she was the one that came up with the name as a toddler.
Marcello once made Gerardo, Luis and Ragnar believe that Romeo's real name was Leonardo Jr.
And somehow, in some strange way, Gali managed to make both Dorothy and Marie believe they were adopted. That worked for a full 5 min, before both girls started crying, and their parents had to tell them it wasn't true.
Sunny will sometimes take Mikey's gold chains, and walk with them as if they were hers.

Her || Charles Leclerc
Main characters: Charles Leclerc x OC Genre: fan fiction, fluff  Story type: novel  Part: 5/? Word count: 2347 Co writer: @mistrose23
Story summary: Matilde Jørgensen, the new Scuderia Ferrari team principal, faced the nerve-wracking challenge of reviving the team's fortunes and aiming for a championship. Leading a historic team as a 'newbie' and separating her work and personal opinions posed a significant challenge. The big question: is she capable to do so?

Chapter 3. I Will Try, Not Promise
The first day of work. Well, not entirely the first day of work, but the first day of work at the office. Matilde felt anxious, even though she had led the team for an entire weekend full of performance, media and team pressure. And she was nervous because it was Ferrari, the iconic and historic team at the iconic and historic office. She had been there once before, but most meetings were online.
Matilde entered the famous building. The realisation hit her as she saw the iconic prancing horse logo in the hall; she was part of the legacy that had captivated motorsport enthusiasts for decades. It felt very real now. At the track, it felt real, but also like a rollercoaster. And now entering those gates felt like she finally had entered the world of Ferrari.
"Good morning, Matilde," Galileo, her assistant, greeted the young team principal. He was waiting for her at the front desk. "Welcome to the office."
"Buongiorno," she replied, sharing one of the few words she knew in Italian, and nervously chuckled. Matilde tightened the grip around the straps of her bag and smiled.
The man smiled at the Italian greeting. "Let's go to your office." The young man with glasses and a moustache led her through the office. Galileo was one of the youngest people in Ferrari, he was one of the new generation. He used to be the right hand of the assistant of Binotto. When Binotto left, the assistant left as well, giving Galileo a promotion and a new person for him to work for. "Are you settled in your new home yet? What do you think of it?"
"It's amazing," Matilde smiled. "The team really did a great job. My family helped me to move in, so it's a delightful way to get settled."
"That is good to hear. Is your family still here?"
"Yes! Yes, they are. They're leaving tomorrow morning, but we drove past the office yesterday," Matilde replied and looked around. Every now and then, she got greeted and she said hi back. "Who fixed the apartment for me? I would like to thank that person."
Galileo shared a professional smile. "Of course, I will send Adriana to your desk."
"Sounds good," Matilde replied.
"So, this is where the hard work gets done," the assistant said and stepped inside an office space with glass walls. "I will be seated here," he said and pointed at his desk. He opened another door that led to another office. "Welcome to your office, Matilde."
Matilde stepped into the office space, scanning the room. Besides a desk, some cabinets and chairs, the office was empty. It still looked modern with a touch of Ferrari's racing heritage; miniature models of iconic cars framed pictures of legendary moments and drivers and more. The desk faced Galileo's small office. On the left, she faced a large window that offered a panoramic view of the bustling workspace of her team.
She walked further into the room, placing her bag on the floor next to her desk. A smile rested on her face. "Thank you," she said.
"I will give you some time to get settled. There are some manuals on your desk. I think today will be about getting to know things, and getting used to your new space, so there is one meeting planned at the end of the day."
Matilde nodded. "Yes, perfect."
"And if you need anything, just shout my name."
"Thank you."
As Galileo excused himself to attend to his own tasks, Matilde sat down in the chair behind the desk. She leaned back, gazing out at the hive of activity behind the glass walls. It was a symphony of coordinated effort, with each individual contributing to the orchestration of performances.
Her desk was clean and organised, awaiting her touch. As she logged into her computer, she faced a blank canvas for her to fill with plans, strategies and decisions that would shape the team's journey.
The layout reminded her of Christian's office at Red Bull, as well as how Galileo was seated, but she had a bigger office than him. She also remembered the personal items he had, wanting to do the same. It made Matilde think of the decorations she would buy to match her aesthetic. One thing she would do was look for a solution for the glass walls. It made her feel uncomfortable to be seen by everyone. It was something she had to get used to, but for now, it felt uncomfortable.
After some time exploring and inspecting the new system, Matilde called her assistant. Within seconds, Galileo stood in the door opening of her office. "I would like to visit every department, get to know everything and just say hi to everyone," she said. "Are you free? And would you like to show me around?"
Galileo seemed to be slightly surprised by her request, no one had done this before. Perhaps it was because the previous team principals were already part of the team before they got promoted to team principal. And newbies got a tour on their first day, but they didn't really bother to say hi to everyone. It was slightly normal to find it all out during your first few weeks. "Yes, sure. When would you like to do that?"
"I have some time now, but only if it suits you, of course. I don't want to hold you back from your work," she mentioned.
"Alright, let's do it now."
Matilde got up locked her computer and smiled, appreciating his willingness to guide her through the headquarters. "Thank you. I think it's important for me to understand the different departments, see the people behind all those desks and meet them. They are the reason why Leclerc and Sainz drive around," she said and raised her eyebrows.
"Absolutely," he nodded and gestured for her to lead the way. "We will start with the engineering department."
As they ventured into the bustling workspaces beyond her office, Matilde found herself involved in a realm of ceaseless activity. Engineers huddled over computer screens, poring over data and simulations. The atmosphere hummed with focused energy. Matilde introduced herself to everyone in the department and had a small talk with them. She spoke with people from aerodynamics, chassis, tyres, and power units, and got engaged in conversations.
After some stops at various departments (design, the factory, hospitality, IT, finance, travel and logistics, marketing, media and HR), met them and spoke to them, she ended up at the race team. She met all of those people at the track, but she still made some time to talk to them. Before Matilde and Galileo went back to their offices, they picked up a coffee.
"Carolinne is my right hand, she takes all my tasks on her when I'm at the track with you. She has the flu, so you two unfortunately can't meet each other soon," Galileo then said. "And I think you have met everyone now, besides the people of the night shift."
Matilde nodded. "Thank you for your time. And I'm sure I will get to meet Carolinne soon," she mentioned, brushing a piece of hair behind her ear. "I will pick up a night shift soon, just to see what happens during the night and to meet everyone there."
"You are really eager to meet everyone, I see," he mentioned.
"Yes, I want to get to know the people," Matilde replied when they entered their offices again. "And what they do." She liked Galileo, he was knowledgeable, efficient and clearly dedicated to ensuring a smooth transition.
She walked into her office and sat down behind her desk. Matilde grabbed the Tupperware from her bag for a snack. When she opened it, a smile came on her face. Her dad left her a note on a Post-it on the inside of the lid: it was just a smiley and a heart, drawn by him. It made her think of when she was a child, her dad would leave those notes behind in the lunch package when she had to go to school. And she noticed two more smiley's, that were not his handwriting; Jens and Lars left it behind. Matilde smirked, it was stupid, and that was probably the idea behind it. Her brothers were in their 30s. She could hear them giggle when drawing those smiley's. Matilde grabbed the post-it and put it under the computer screen, so she could see it every day.
As the day drew close, Matilde's work phone buzzed with a reminder for the meeting Galileo had mentioned earlier. During the day, she was engaged in conversations, decisions and exploring. With a sense of purpose, she rose from her chair, collected everything she needed and made her way to the meeting. Galileo informed her that the meeting was pushed to tomorrow, but that the board wanted to welcome Matilde in front of everyone. The gesture was nice, but it felt a little bit unnecessary, since she had introduced herself to everyone already and she had worked during a race already.
When she arrived at the factory hall, she spotted Carlos and Charles. "Hello," she said and shared a delicate smile.
"Hey," Carlos smiled.
"Matilde," Charles said, his tone neutral.
Everybody had to wait, so Carlos took the opportunity to ask Matilde a question everyone wanted to ask. "I'm curious; what made you join Ferrari?"
Matilde regarded him for a moment, considering her response. She looked around, people were looking at her, waiting for the answer they wanted to hear. "Opportunity," she answered. And because she wanted to see why Ferrari was a failing team, she was curious to see how they were working and she was in for a challenge. "The chance to be part of a historic team."
Carlos raised an eyebrow, his lips curving into a faint smile. "Ambitious, I see."
"Always."
"I hope you will enjoy your time here."
Before Matilde had the chance to reply, she got called to the stage. Her eyes met Charles' eyes, he looked at her with slightly squinted eyes, almost ready to roll his eyes. It felt like he was trying to figure her out by just looking at her. Matilde raised her eyebrow and walked away. His attitude was off and Matilde couldn't find out why. She stepped on the stage and put on her professional smile.
The board welcomed her, had a small word on her and gave Matilde some minutes to say something. She spoke about how grateful she was for this opportunity. "...I will try and do my best to get the best out of this team and get the best results." Matilde thanked everyone for their time and wished everyone good luck.
* * *
Matilde stepped out of her heels after she had closed the door of her apartment. It was half past nine in the evening. The working times were bizarre to her, the two-hour break felt unnecessary, but it was a thing here in Italy. She entered her new living area and put her bag on the table. Her eyes glided over the space, the doors to the terrace were open. While Matilde put a bun in her hair, she walked to the terrace.
"Godaften," Matilde said and sat down on the lounge set next to Lars.
Lars and Jens were enjoying a glass of wine and their dad a beer. "You are late."
She raised her eyebrows and took a deep breath. "I forgot about the extra long lunch break," she said.
A smile grew on her face when she looked at her two brothers and father. "I really liked the post-it." Giggles filled the air. "Adorable."
"How was your first day?" Her dad asked. He poured a glass of wine for Matilde and slid it towards her.
Matilde took a sip of the wine, leaned back on the comfortable cushions of the lounge set and let the cold evening breeze brush against her skin. "Why are we sitting outside? It's cold, like ten degrees."
Lars and Jens held up their cigarettes, making Viggo glance disapproving at his two sons.
"Oh. And leaving the doors open? Gas isn't free," she huffed and got up, closing the doors.
"It's fresh air," Lars replied.
She sighed loudly and shook her head. "Anyway, it was a whirlwind," she answered her dad's question. Her voice was tinged with a mix of excitement and exhaustion. "I met everyone, saw different departments and had to speak in front of everyone. It's a lot to take in, but it's good."
Jens grinned mischievously, taking a sip of his wine. "Did anyone ask for your autograph yet, Mati?"
She rolled her eyes playfully. "Not yet, but I'm sure Galileo will be the first in line." The mention of her assistant brought a smile to her lips. She slapped Lars on his arm. "I have a personal assistant. I thought Galileo was just someone who would explain things to me, but he is my personal assistant."
"Oh, my god," Lars squealed playfully and shared the same reaction.
"(Galileo) Galileo, (Galileo) Galileo, Galileo Figaro, magnifico," Jens sang the text of Bohemian Rhapsody.
"Behave," Viggo said. "But that is amazing to hear, Til. And your office?"
"It's massive, even bigger than Christian's office, but kinda the same. But it has glass walls and it is awful," she replied.
"Those glass walls in your office are for a reason, Tilly. They stand for transparency and unity. You can see them, they can see you. Open communication and one team," Lars explained.
"I feel so freaking uncomfortable in there. Everybody is constantly looking at me," Matilde replied.
"That's what you think."
"That's what it is, they look at me. Every time I look up, I look into someone's eyes."
The family laughed, feeling proud of their little sister and daughter. It was the last day they would spend together in the cosy apartment in Italy. The men had to go back to Denmark. They loved to help Matilde out with moving her furniture from the UK to Italy and decorating her new place. Matilde couldn't be happier and grateful to have started her first official day with her family on her side.

"You seem nervous."
Donnie gulps, glancing at April. "I have never encountered human children before. I'm not sure of the protocols." April rolls her eyes, gesturing at the miniature person Donnie's been eyeing quite critically for some time, nestled comfortably in her lap. "There is no protocol, dude. This is literally just a baby."
"Yes, and I've never talked to one before. What am I supposed to say? 'Goo-goo', 'gah-gah'?"
She sputters out a laugh, fingers raking through the curly hair of a small head tucked under her chin. The child looks up, letting out a coo and leaning further into the touch.
Curious brown eyes tick over to Donnie, who shoots a vaguely disgusted look at the chubby fingers in her drooling mouth. She coos again, flapping her other unoccupied hand at him.
"Are you side-eyeing a baby, Donatello?" April says, picking up the packet of wet wipes from the coffee table. "I don't think Priya's old enough to have mastered the art of social cues and non-verbal communication."
"Look at what she's doing! She's getting her spit everywhere!"
April delicately pries the toddler's - Priya, as her birth certificate apparently says - hand away, wiping her clean. Donnie can see the clear affection she has for her babysitting charge, as she responds to her babbling with some baby-talk of her own.
He snorts. "You're so domestic."
Her eyes flash behind her glasses. "I will dismember you."
He raises his hands in surrender, not willing to suffer her wrath when he isn't caffeinated properly.
Honestly, he's not even sure why April asked him of all people to help her babysit. The only reason he's here is because she not-so-subtly bribed him with a slice of her mother's pumpkin spice pie, and Gaga knows how easy Donnie is for Mrs. O'Neil's cooking.
"How long are we staying here?" He groans, slouching on the sofa.
"A couple of hours more, I think. Her parents are planning on getting all of their Diwali shopping in one day for some reason. But that's why I'm getting paid the big bucks for sacrificing my Saturday before Halloween!" April bounces Priya on her lap once she's all clean, grinning at her.
"And I get to spend it all with you, cutie-pie!" She pokes her in the stomach, looking delighted at the responding giggle.
Donnie rolls her head towards the two of them. A smile tugs at his lips. "Okay, fine. She is pretty cute."
"Right? The cutest. Here, you should hold her!"
"I - what?"
April suddenly stands up, and with a surprising amount of strength drags him up with her. Donnie just barely keeps himself from crashing into the coffee table, before she thrusts the baby at him.
Surprised by the sudden course of events, he has no choice but to grab the small body, lest they somehow manage to drop her. Which he might, he thinks, panicked, tightening his grip as much as he dares to without hurting her in any sort of way.
"Oh, Galileo, absolutely not. Take her back right now."
"Donnie. Chill out, dude."
"'Chill out'?" He wonders what sort of picture he makes, standing in the middle of an apartment living room, among the festive string lights and decorations, shoulders hiked up to his ears as he holds up a baby at arms length.
He doesn't have to wonder for long, because April immediately snaps a picture with her phone.
"April!"
"Sorry, sorry, I couldn't resist." She puts the phone away, and laughs helplessly, waving a hand at him. "What are you doing? Why are you holding her like that?"
Priya seems to have the same question, if the wide eyes looking at him under the curly fringe are any indication. He gives her the same wide-eyed stare back. "I don't know! If I've never talked to a baby before, what makes you think I would know how to hold one?"
"Maybe start by not holding her like he's going to blow up any second?" April asked wryly, raising a brow at him.
Donnie furtively glances at her dotted onesie, specifically the diaper under it. "We don't know she won't for sure."
"Ugh, I changed her ten minutes ago! Donnie, look." She stands in front of him and bends her elbows in a cradling pose. "Here, see? Bring her close and hold her like that."
"Uh." Donnie has no idea how to do that without taking one hand off her, and he's terrified of trying to maneuver her without 100% certainty she isn't going to fall. "No. I think I'm good like this."
"C'mon, dude! Just hold her like you'd hold a football."
He huffs, quoting back, "This is how I would hold a football."
The football-in-question is still just blinking at him like he's a particularly fascinating science project. She gurgles at him, babbling incoherently. He wonders fleetingly if her babbling would sound the same if he spoke in Hindi instead of English, before her legs kick out impatiently under his hold.
"She's getting bored." April helpfully provides. Donnie tamps down the immediate 'noooo really?', keeping the sarcastic response to himself, studying the baby like she's the fascinating science project.
Experimentally, keeping a secure hold on her, he sways Priya a little to his right. Priya giggles happily with the motion, gums on full display. He sways her the other way with a little bounce. She squeals delightedly. He does it again. And again, side to side. Until he finally spins her around in a circle, balancing on his heel, whirling her in a wide arc as she shrieks in enjoyment. Her chubby arms are raised, legs extended. Donnie turns and grins brightly at April, automatically bringing Priya to his chest, settling a supportive hand under her legs. "It appears this child has an affinity for flying!" Donnie proclaims, jostling her as gently as he can in excitement, earning another giggle. His grin gets bigger.
April has one arm over her chest, the knuckles of the other pressed to cover up the growing smile, eyes crinkled behind her glasses.
"Goes after her new turtle buddy Tello." She quips, unable to keep the joy out of her voice. Donnie gives her a look, before a spectacular idea strikes him. "Elated gasp! You are completely right, my dear April! To further this interest, I must show her the beauty of actual aviation travel!" With a flick of his wrist, his jetpack pops up from his battle shell, purple propellers whirring to life.
"Oh hell no." April immediately denies in her most authoritative voice, which he completely ignores. But as he's lifted off the ground, Priya shrieks once more, clutching to his arm in fear. And that knocks some sense into him.
"Crap, yeah, no, bad idea." Donnie realizes in alarm, setting them both on the floor safely and making the propellers disappear. "Too soon, right? Sorry, I tend to get ahead of myself sometimes. Please don't cry?" Feeling helpless, he thinks back to the faint memories he has of being in his father's lap after a particularly bad day, and gently rocks her back and forth. Her scared sounds quiet down almost immediately.
"Wow." He looks up to see April blink at him, impressed. "You might be better at this than I am."
Donnie feels a swell of pride and embarrassment, which he rushes to cover. "Well, I am generally considered a genius. Being better than everyone is in the name."
She grins at him sharply. "Consider yourself lucky you're holding a baby and therefore an unviable target for a punch."
He chuckles, before he feels a tug. He looks down to see that Priya has one of his mask tails in her grip, her fingers smoothing over the silky material. His fault for putting on his longer bandana this morning.
"Admit it." April wheedles in an annoying, sing-song voice. "It's not that bad, is it?"
Donnie rolls his eyes, but smiles when Priya coos happily once more. "Yes, it's not that bad."

Haha we meme on Stilgar as the funny "LISAN AL-GAIB" man but tbh I think there's a lot of nuance towards his character arc in how he doesn't really start off that way? In the context of Part 2, I mean. Because I think of how early in the film he approaches Jessica about becoming Reverend Mother, and he pretty blatantly acknowledges that Paul isn't necessarily the Lisan al-Gaib; The way Stilgar has to basically strong arm Jessica into agreeing doesn't come across as a fanatical worshipper appealing to his gods. He knows he holds power over these outsiders and he's blunt about it behind closed doors, more or less admitting that he isn't 100% sure but this Lisan al-Gaib figure is very useful for helping the Fremen overthrow their oppressors, so that's where Stilgar is throwing his lot.
It reminds me of a lot of the discussion regarding the Catholic church, particularly in regards to stuff like Galileo. I remember a lot of the mainstream assumption being that the Pope and his followers were superstitious guys who were genuinely afraid of deviating from the Bible, but then actual historians came around and painted a more realistic picture; In the end, it wasn't that they necessarily thought the sun went around the earth. It was that by challenging what the church decreed, Galileo challenged their authority and made them seem weaker; And so they had to double down on their geocentric understanding of the universe to defend that. Similarly, King James I didn't necessarily believe in witches, but they did provide a handy boogeyman to rally his people against, and make himself seem like a more legitimate leader.
That's how I see Stilgar, as he starts off; He doesn't necessarily worship the Lisan al-Gaib, but he believes that a messianic figure is just the kick the Fremen need to rally together and defeat their colonizers. Everybody loves a martyr, after all. He might chant about the Mahdi, but his priority has always been the Fremen people, and he is their true leader, with Paul being the puppet face he's pushing everyone into paying attention to.
The scene where Paul denies being the Mahdi, only for Stilgar to be like "Omg the Mahdi is so humble that means he is the Mahdi!!!" feels less like he actually thinks this, and more like... He's bullshitting his way into interpreting whatever Paul does, even if it seems fairly anti-Mahdi, as proof that he's the guy the Fremen need. Paul denouncing the idea was pretty inconvenient but Stilgar found a way to make it work; I guess it’s like how Jessica is also trying to push an unwilling Paul to embrace his role, but for different reasons. And Paul and Stilgar seem much more in tune with one another over how far they’ll go, because they’re much more in agreement about this being for the sake of the Fremen; Indeed, before he drinks the Water of Life, Paul seems to begrudgingly go along because he’s been convinced that it will help these people that he realizes he cares about too, which leads to his outburst at his mother when he feels her motives are insincere (unlike Stilgar’s).
So Stilgar is, for a while, the actual leader of the Fremen, and he is knowingly using Paul and Jessica for his people's freedom, without being aware that he's falling for the Bene Gesserit's propaganda to begin with. He thinks it can't be that bad, he's got a handle on it, but Chani knows better. And I should clarify that I don't blame Stilgar for this, he is an indigenous leader fighting back against colonization who desperately needs what he can get, and Paul and Jessica do end up colonizing the Fremen themselves.
Plus, he's still fairly decent to Paul himself, because even if Stilgar doesn't necessarily consider him the messiah, he still views Paul as an ally that can help the Fremen; That's how he becomes a friend to Paul. When Stilgar pulls Paul over and reassures him not to get a Sandworm too big, everyone already believes in him, it feels like they’re both in on the mutual secret that Paul isn’t necessarily the messiah but he IS a rallying figure for the Fremen, so they both play into that for the sake of the Fremen, right? There’s still enough of a level field that Stilgar can pull over the Mahdi for a private conversation away from the others about something potentially scandalous, rather than the other way around.
But then that friendship is ruined, because somewhere along the way Stilgar sees Paul's achievements rack up, and get closer and closer, in an uncanny way, to the prophecy; And Stilgar begins to think, Oh hey that's actually just like what was written. Okay that's only what a Lisan al-Gaib could do. Holy shit I think he might actually, literally, be a magical chosen one. And now Stilgar is willing to eat his own shit for Paul if the Lisan al-Gaib told him to. And that's why Paul mourns their lost friendship, because you can't have a real friendship with such an inherent power imbalance between worshipper and their God.
And it's all pretty sad to me, that Stilgar started off as a dude basically entertaining what he acknowledges may be a white lie, for the sake of his people... Only to find himself realizing this 'white lie' might be the real deal, and being so caught up in that revelation that before he knows it, he now prioritizes the Lisan al-Gaib over the Fremen this guy was supposed to be for. I think of how Stilgar kneels to sacrifice himself so Paul can become leader, as tradition; But then Paul says no, and Stilgar defies his own Fremen tradition because the Lisan al-Gaib told him to.
He lost sight of who this was supposed to be about, and that's why Stilgar sees nothing wrong with leading his fellow Fremen off of their homeworld to die fighting a bunch of strangers on foreign worlds. He doesn't object to Paul holding hostage their own way of life. He wasn't exactly superstitious, or at least Stilgar had people he prioritized over those beliefs; But when you see so many miracles, you begin to fear the divine and hold it above all else. Stilgar and Paul both felt the need to push this Lisan al-Gaib idea as a necessary evil, the only way to help the Fremen out of their dilemma, only to become fanatical mad men by the end of it. Maybe the idea of a Messiah seemed an easy lie, a safer and more practical way out of colonialism; But it ended up being colonialism but with a different, unrecognizable face. Because despite the promise to liberate Arrakis from the Harkonnens, the Fremen ended up worshipping a Harkonnen.

Star Trek: The Fotonovel
So TOS fotonovels are a thing that exists. If you've never heard of them- they're comics composed of stills of the show episodes. A couple of the first six movies were also made into fotonovels BUT they're both a little different than the ones based on TOS episodes and I will get to them in due time.
Right off the bat there are a couple of things that need to be said. For one, why do these exist? Well I imagine they made for a good way to consume your fave episode without having to wait for it to come on TV again. With that in mind, these fotonovels work perfectly. They're very true to the episodes with some exceptions. These differences come from the fact that these aren't comics drawn based on an episode, they just take stills directly from the show and the show was not intended to be read/viewed in this way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some things cannot avoid being abridged or compressed in favor of this new format but for the most part this is never really distracting and nor does it take away from the reading experience. After all, it's supposed to be a very detailed reminder of the episode you already know, so you can just relive it with the pictures.
Additionally, sometimes the fotonovels have extra lines and these are mostly found in the way of thought bubbles the characters have. Overall they're very charming but don't have a lot of utility now a days. I own some because I have problems.... They make up almost a fourth of my ST TOS book collection.
If you are interested in them my general thoughts are that the ones made from the episodes are really well done for what they are. They're also basically just some of the most popular episodes from the show using only episodes from the first two seasons. They're delivered in their own order adhering to neither the release of the show nor its intended release.
TITLES (ones i own)
The City on the Edge of Forever
Where No Man Has Gone Before
The Trouble With Tribbles
A Taste of Armageddon
Metamorphosis
All Our Yesterdays
The Galileo Seven
A piece of the Action
The Devil in the Dark
Day of the Dove
The Deadly Years
Amok Time
Star Trek: The Motion Picture Photostory
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan Photostory
Now, you'll notice I said that the ones made for the episodes are good, and so far I have been sure to separate the ones done for the movies. This is because there's a bit of a quality drop.
For starters, they kept them the same length as the fotonovels of the episodes. Right away that presents a pretty big quandary because the movies are over twice as long. So if you're looking for something that adds to the experience of seeing the movies, these last two fotonovels will not do that- rather they will take away. A lot of scenes just don't make it into them and neither of them are adding from the novelizations either.
And then we have their page quality. All but one of these have shiny, coloured pages. Wrath of Khan is unfortunately in black and white and not even composed like a comic but is rather movie stills with accompanying dialogue. That's sort of like a massive let down given how big of a deal that movie is.
I intend to really get into the nitty gritty with each of these- especially the movie adaptions.
And, if you're worried about the loss of homoerotic subtext- you're all good... plus its just a tad funnier this way.

Hello, Can i request rottmnt platonic hc of mom reader (she's co-parenting with splinter and they're relationship is platonic) and enjoys spending time with her teenager turtle kids?
Like she likes to talk about science stuff with Donnie, she praises leo and boost his confident, she sewing for raph teddy bears and cook with mikey.
But i guess her only down part is whenever she gets kidnap by anybody she immediately pull out her album and show her kids's pictures to other villains, mostly big mama, that's why the kids try to save her faster before their secrets are exposed 😂😂
Mom!Reader
Tumblr media
RotTMNT + fem!reader
Warnings: platonic fluff, movie stuff mentioned, vague mentions of nightmares and injuries
A/N: Could you imagine if they had a mom? Donnie and Mikey are 100% a mama's boys and you can't tell me different. Each parent gets a twin (me and my twin are much the same)
Previous | Next

Donnie
Nicknames: DeeDee, Donato (the real name of the artist), Galileo, Aristotle, Archimedes, and much more.
You once called him Grimace when he was upset and he never forgave you
You are the only one allowed to hang out around Donnie's lab
You are the only one who listened to his info dumps
If the others actually listened, they might find it interesting
You might not understand all of what he's talking about, but seeing your son so passionate makes you so happy
You are the one he goes to when he has a nightmare
Donnie enjoys you singing him to sleep, its peaceful
It reminds him of when things weren't off the rails
He installed multiple trackers on you because last time you were kidnapped you showed Hypno pictures of the Turtle Tots
It made Hypno a little nicer, but there were some embarrassing memories
He once threatened to destroy your camera because of you showing the album to anyone near
Leo
Nicknames: Len, Lenny, Blue Belle, Cookie Monster, Ace, etc.
You are his biggest supporter
He goes to you when he needs help, when he's not feeling his best
When he was younger, he often bunked with you and Donnie
He just didn't like being away from his twin
He didn't come to you often when he was little
In fact, he doesn't go to you very often as a teen
Opting for Splinter
But you can't be everyone's favorite, you knew that Leo needs Splinter like Donnie needs you.
Leo isn't embarrassed by the pictures in the album, in fact he looks at it quite often
Mikey
Nicknames: Lino, Angi, Michi, Goldie, Firecracker, Giorgione, Caravaggio, etc.
Cooking with Mikey was always a blast
He was energetic, but serious
Music would be playing while you 2 worked
You could also be found painting with Mikey
Whether it was on the walls of the skate rink or if it was on canvases in his room
Mikey always comes to you for advice
Splinter and his brothers have a tendency to underestimate and protect him, but he knows you won't
You were the person he ran to about his hands after he saved Leo
He cried, but you showed him how strong he was
How even with shaky hands, art can still be made
Why would he be embarrassed by the album? He helped make it
Raph
Nicknames: Rafa, Alfie, Ray, R.J., Bubs, Cuddles, etc.
You and Raph grew apart as he got older, but you still make him sweaters and outfits for his bears
He loves you, he just feels like being 17, he needs to stop relying on you and Splints
When he was younger, he would watch you make him teddy bears
You'd let him name them, write their names down on a heart shaped piece of fabric and place it inside (like Build-A-Bear)
He still had those bears
Although he didn't sleep with them in fear of destroying them,
They sit nicely on the shelf across from his bed
So they watch over him
Absolutely goes nuts when you get kidnapped, knowing you're probably showing whoever it is baby photos of him
He was a cute kid, but not everyone needs to see that!

Hello everyone!
I trashified another stuffed animal!
My boyfriend knows me well. So well that he saw a huge plush shark for sale at the store he works at and decided I had to have it as a christmas gift... Specifically because it has a huge, open mouth with a seam in the back of it. I named my shark Galileo!
It took me a bit to get the fabric for this, but I got it and sat down to do this a couple days later.
Here's some before pictures:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was pretty straightforward to unpick the stitches across the back of his mouth... Even though I've lost my seam ripper and had to do it with scissors 🤦
Tumblr media
I then made a pouch, following the same procedure I did when I made Oliver's.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was a bit harder this time to sew the pouch into the back of the mouth.
Tumblr media
The pink fabric of the mouth is very rigid, so sewing it was kind of tedious. I poked my fingertips a lot this time, and accidentally stabbed the back of my thumb hard at one point.
But, the sore fingers are worth it to me for this result:
Tumblr media
Because Galileo is so much bigger than Oliver, I can fit my entire arm in his pouch up to the shoulder like this:
Tumblr media
And another trashification project is done! Now I just need to find a stuffed animal big enough for me to climb into...

one stella to another i ask u kindly to post some of your favorite space pictures,,,, taps my fingers all gay
i have a lot so it's hard to pick ^^' but it's hard to go wrong with backlit saturn (from the cassini spacecraft)
Tumblr media
another one i really like is this picture from the hope orbiter showing mars' moon deimos with the planet itself in the background :3
Tumblr media
i also like pictures that may not look flashy (at least not at first glance) - and aren't shared around a ton because of that - but that nevertheless show really cool details in celestial bodies, like this picture from the galileo spacecraft of io in jupiter's shadow, gases around io ionized and glowing because of the radiation in jupiter's magnetosphere
Tumblr media
though my favorite kind of space pictures are the super big high resolution ones where you can really zoom in and get lost in all the fine details for a good long while, like this mosaic of saturn's moon dione from the cassini spacecraft. there's so much rugged terrain, and craters cut in half by faults! it's so cool!!!

in reading about the scientific revolution, i have a habit of adding three centuries to the dates so, for example, newton was born in 1942, mythically theorised universal gravitation in 1966 and published the Principia in 1987, completing the theory of orbits of Kepler published in 1909/1919 and is going to die in 2026
it sets up nice, but illusory, resonances. the principia is a book full of chaos theory diagrams with computer pictures, the apple story is happening among groovy hippies
the big midcentury war goes from 1939 to 1953 (close)
william harvey's book on the circulation is published in 1928, and so resembles eg Haldanean physiology
Galileo becomes a late Victorian, Tycho a mid-Victorian etc
it hangs together okay

Galactic Guesswork: The Bizarre Hunt for Dark Matter and Dark Energy
Welcome, intrepid explorers of the cosmic carnival, to the most mind-bending show on this side of the Milky Way: the enigma of dark matter and dark energy! Imagine, if you will, that our universe is like a ginormous cosmic burrito, and we’re only tasting the spicy salsa without even realizing there’s a whole fiesta of flavors hiding underneath. Yep, that's right – about 85% of the universe is this mysterious stuff called dark matter and dark energy, and we’re still figuring out what on Earth (or in space) it all means!
Now, grab your metaphorical popcorn, because this rollercoaster starts with the mystery of the universe's missing mass. Picture the early astronomers like Galileo and Newton as the original Ghostbusters, looking for all the visible stuff in the cosmos. Fast forward to the 1930s, when Fritz Zwicky, with a name that sounds like a retro comic book hero, noticed that the galaxies in the Coma Cluster were moving around like kids hopped up on sugar. He figured out there must be something invisible giving them a gravitational push. Voilà, dark matter was born – the invisible hand in the cosmic cookie jar!
Enter Vera Rubin in the 1970s, the real MVP who confirmed that galaxies spin way faster than they should if only visible matter was in play. It’s like if you saw a frisbee flying through the air and realized it’s being propelled by an invisible jetpack. Thanks to her, we know dark matter exists, even if it’s as elusive as that one sock you always lose in the laundry.
But wait, the universe had more tricks up its sleeve. Enter stage left: dark energy, the Beyoncé of cosmic phenomena – fabulous, mysterious, and always in the spotlight. In the 1990s, astronomers noticed that the universe isn’t just expanding, it’s doing so at an accelerating rate, like a YouTube video buffering at hyperspeed. This was thanks to observations of distant supernovae, which, much like surprise guest stars on a TV show, gave us unexpected clues about the universe's plot twists. And thus, dark energy was thrust into the limelight, making us question everything we thought we knew about the universe.
Now, let’s get to the juicy part: what exactly is this dark stuff made of? Scientists have thrown around more theories than Marvel has superheroes. Dark matter might be composed of WIMPs (Weakly Interacting Massive Particles) or MACHOs (Massive Astrophysical Compact Halo Objects). And if those acronyms sound like characters from a sci-fi buddy cop movie, you’re not far off. These particles are like the undercover agents of the universe, working behind the scenes to keep galaxies spinning and the cosmos in order.
Dark energy, on the other hand, might be the universe’s version of anti-gravity – a force that’s pushing everything apart. Think of it as the cosmic equivalent of your favorite cartoon character running off a cliff and somehow staying afloat. Scientists have cooked up theories involving quantum fields and vacuum energy, but pinning down dark energy is like trying to nail jelly to a wall.
To hunt down these elusive entities, scientists have rolled out the big guns – and by guns, I mean colossal detectors and telescopes. The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is like the universe’s ultimate science fair project, smashing particles together at ludicrous speeds to see what secrets pop out. Space telescopes like the Hubble and the upcoming James Webb are the cosmic paparazzi, snapping pics of the universe's red carpet events to catch dark matter and dark energy in action.
But even with all this high-tech wizardry, detecting dark matter and dark energy is trickier than convincing your parents that video games are educational. We’re talking about stuff that doesn’t interact with light, making it essentially invisible. It’s like trying to catch a ninja who’s also a ghost. Yet, with every experiment and observation, we get a smidge closer to understanding these cosmic ninjas.
Now, what does all this mean for science education and our understanding of the universe? Buckle up, because this is where it gets wild. Dark matter and dark energy aren’t just footnotes in the cosmic story; they’re the plot twists that change everything. They shape the structure of the universe, influencing galaxy formation, cosmic microwave background radiation, and even the ultimate fate of everything we know. It’s like discovering that the secret ingredient in grandma’s famous pie recipe is something you’ve never even heard of – it changes your whole perspective.
The implications are profound. If we crack the dark matter and dark energy codes, we could revolutionize our understanding of physics, potentially leading to new technologies that make today’s sci-fi look like child’s play. Imagine harnessing dark energy to power spaceships or using dark matter as the ultimate stealth tech. The future could be stranger and more fantastic than any blockbuster movie.
In conclusion, the quest to unravel the mysteries of dark matter and dark energy is the ultimate scientific odyssey – an adventure filled with intrigue, discovery, and mind-boggling revelations. As we continue to probe the cosmic shadows, each piece of evidence brings us closer to the truth, turning science education into a thrilling narrative that rivals the best Hollywood thrillers. So, stay curious, my fellow cosmic detectives, because the universe has many more secrets to spill, and we’re just getting started on this wild ride through the dark!

Happy STS! It's a rainy weekend for me, so tell me what rainy weekends are like for your characters? Who owns rainboots just to jump in puddles? Who looks like a drowned cat fighting with their umbrella? Who wouldn't be caught dead outside of their home when it's raining?
So sorry I'm late. I forgot about this one; I have been busy with a lot.
But rainy weekends are always fun for the thirteen year old characters. Galileo owns a pair of blue and white polka-dotted rain boots and whenever he gets the chance, he'll instantly go outside to play in the rain.
In the rain, Harlan (19 years old) would definitely look like a drowned cat fighting with his umbrella 😂. Demetrius and Cullen wouldn't hesitate to take pictures.
Paris isn't a big fan of rain so she'll prefer to stay inside and watch tv.

Discovering Jupiter: The Biggest Planet Explained
In the huge space filled with stars and galaxies, there's one special planet that really stands out i.e. Jupiter. It's the biggest planet in our solar system and has fascinated people for a long time. Named after the most powerful god in ancient Roman mythology, Jupiter is incredibly beautiful and mysterious. In this article, we'll take a closer look at Jupiter, learning more about what makes it so fascinating and why it's important for our understanding of space.
Jupiter: The Biggest Planet in Our Solar System
Jupiter is the biggest planet in our solar system. It's huge, more than 11 times wider than Earth. It's super heavy, too, about 318 times heavier than Earth. Because of its size, Jupiter has a strong pull that affects how other things move around it in space.
Jupiter has a big storm called the Great Red Spot. It's been there for a very long time, showing us how wild Jupiter's weather can be. This storm is even bigger than our whole planet Earth! It's like a giant symbol of how Jupiter's atmosphere is always changing and full of storms.
The Composition and Structure of Jupiter
Jupiter is made mostly of hydrogen and helium, which are very common elements in space. Inside Jupiter, there's a heavy center surrounded by layers of different forms of hydrogen and gas. Unlike planets like Earth, Jupiter doesn't have a solid surface under its cloudy atmosphere.
Jupiter has a mix of gases in its air like hydrogen, helium, methane, and ammonia. These gases create colorful bands of clouds on Jupiter's surface. These bands look like stripes of light and dark. They form because Jupiter spins really fast, causing strong winds and storms in its atmosphere.
Tumblr media
Jupiter's Moons: The Companions of the Giant Planet
Jupiter has a bunch of moons, with at least 79 that we know of. But four of them are extra special and were found by a guy named Galileo Galilei in 1610. These moons are called the Galilean moons, and their names are Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto. They're really interesting and important in our solar system.
Io is a moon close to Jupiter, and it's famous for having lots of active volcanoes on its surface. Europa, another moon of Jupiter, has a smooth, icy covering, and scientists think there might be an ocean beneath it that could support life. Ganymede, the biggest moon in our solar system, has its own magnetic field and many different types of landscapes. Callisto, also orbiting Jupiter, is very old and has lots of craters, which helps scientists learn about the past of our solar system.
The Eye of Jupiter: Unveiling the Great Red Spot
The Great Red Spot is a huge storm on Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system. It's been going on for a very long time and is a famous part of Jupiter's atmosphere. People sometimes call it the "Eye of Jupiter" because it looks like a big eye in pictures.
The Great Red Spot is a huge swirling storm on Jupiter that spins in the opposite direction to storms on Earth. People have known about it for over 400 years, since the 1600s. Scientists have been amazed by how long it has lasted and how it keeps changing.
The Great Red Spot on Jupiter isn't always the same shade of red. Sometimes it's more of a light pink, while other times it's a deep crimson. This color change happens because of different chemicals in Jupiter's atmosphere. Scientists are still trying to figure out exactly what these chemicals are and how they make the spot look so red.
The Great Red Spot is a huge storm on Jupiter, bigger than Earth. It's about 1.3 times wider than our planet. The winds inside it can be super fast, up to 400 miles per hour. It's one of the strongest and longest-lasting storms in our solar system.
Scientists believe that the Great Red Spot on Jupiter stays around because of a mix of things. Jupiter spins really fast, it has heat inside, and its different layers of air interact with each other. But we're not exactly sure how these things keep the storm going or why it acts the way it does. That's why we need to keep studying and exploring Jupiter to find out more.
In the last few years, missions like NASA's Juno spacecraft have given us amazing new information about Jupiter's Great Red Spot and its atmosphere. Scientists are studying the storm's shape, how it moves, and how it affects other things in Jupiter's atmosphere. They want to learn more about why this storm has lasted so long and how Jupiter's weather works.
The Great Red Spot on Jupiter shows how powerful the planet is and how it changes over time. It's like a big storm that's been going on for a long time. But it's not just a storm; it's also a symbol of how fascinating Jupiter is and how much we still don't know about it. By studying Jupiter and its cool features, like the Eye of Jupiter, we can learn more about this huge planet and space in general. It's like solving a big puzzle that helps us understand the amazing things in the universe better. Read More.

Here's a show I've been watching on the side without mentioning. This is Galilei Donna - an A-1 Pictures original anime that I'd literally never heard of and which turned 10 years old while I watched it. I came across it because my friend was watching anime he found using the random button on anidb, this turned up, he reacted to the first episode for a youtube channel we semi-unseriously run, I thought it actually looked kind of awesome, and then I watched the rest of the show myself. So let's talk about it!
Galilei Donna is a cool original action show in which three sisters descended from Galileo Galilei are framed by a multinational corporation and a corrupt police force and are forced on the run, branded as international criminals, and being hunted by said corporation, the law, and even air pirates for good measure. It exists in a setting which seems like a near-future but largely contemporary version of modern day earth, although as the series continues it becomes clear that it's almost better considered a different timeline version of earth altogether, using different energy sources which have resulted in different versions of transport including armoured metal airships which see civilian use (strangely normal cars exist but are all just destroyed and abandoned on the streets?), and also this earth is downright pre-apocalyptic, with the show calling attention to a sort of global freezing suggesting a new fucking ice age. The show's moment-to-moment largely consists of our main characters going from place to place seeking the treasures of Galileo to potentially avert their global energy crisis, all the while escaping from their would-be-captors. And of course during all this we laugh and we cry and we meet new people and say tragic farewells, the characters learn a little bit more about each other and a little bit more about themselves, all that good stuff.
I'd fully say that if all that sounds good to you, then just go and watch the show. The series by and large follows through on the majority of the good you'd expect from that premise, and in terms of sheer fun, yeah it's all there. But here's where we get to the caveats. The buts. The if only this was differents. The biggest and kind of just the main one, plain and simple, is that the show absolutely doesn't have enough time for how ambitious it is. The cast is big, the show has a lot of moving pieces in the plot, there's multiple villain factions, the future of the world is questionable and yet pieces of the past are relevant too, there's a global travel aspect in there, there's a criticism and takedown of capitalism and the elements comprising it, thematically it's going for a lot of stuff, there's just a lot here. And it has 11 episodes to do all of that. 13 episodes would've been a bit more breathing room, ideally it could have an entire additional cour - but the 11 that it's left with is downright suffocating. The show doesn't really attempt to downsize its narrative to fit within the final episode count, so we end up with even main characters having little to no development whatsoever, and majorly significant pieces of the plot happening completely off-screen, only becoming relevant in the final episode, itself a courtroom drama episode of all things? Every single aspect of this series is begging to be fleshed out and explored more and the overwhelming majority of it just isn't given that chance. Eldest sister Hazuki's worldview is majorly challenged only to be relegated to a background gag argument. Middle sister Kazuki is defined by a love interest who doesn't even have a name. Youngest sister Hozuki takes until the semi-final episode to have any development whereby she acknowledges herself as socially out of step with other people despite the events of the rest of the show suggesting otherwise. And that's for the literal main protagonists of the show! Once you move onto supporting there's a major recurring anti-villain into anti-hero whose name I don't even remember the show telling me at any point, I just know it because of MAL! Like all in all this is a show that desperately wishes it could be more, and it just wasn't given that opportunity.
Also this one doesn't fit into the last paragraph anywhere but this show's music is Scooby Doo-core and the tonal whiplash is cracked.
This is one of those shows where I watched it, I liked it, and when it was all said and done I was bummed out that there wasn't more of it. And I think that was probably true of Aniplex as well - whom I am singularly attributing the production of the show to for the sake of brevity, but obviously more companies and people were evolved, yadda yadda, just ignore me. But a quick glance at the series' still-alive website reveals a series attempting to push a solid amount of goods out for a random original series, and a look at the twitter seemingly suggests there was even a life-size statue of Hozuki on display for some Noitamina Shop thing? Which is like, kind of a big deal, to some degree. Certainly this was a show that I have to assume had some pretty heavy marketing push if it's getting stuff like that. And yet for all that, absolutely no western presence or even really awareness of the series, and total blu-ray sales under 1000 volumes. Galilei Donna is a flop, a flop that wanted more and wasn't given it. A flop that several companies wanted to make them a gajillion dollars while themselves not pouring enough resources into the series to let it see its artistic vision through to the end. Maybe. That part's absolutely just speculation and I'd need to do a deeper dive into whatever knowledge of the production is public - although even saying that I have to assume if anything like that exists it's purely in Japanese and I don't speak that language soooooooo
But hey, all in all, if you asked me "how was Galilei Donna?", I'd respond by saying that it was just
