It was a Tuesday afternoon, with the inhabitants of the lair taking a few moments of relaxation, before the four turtle brothers had to go on their patrol in a few hours. Leo, your bellowed husband, had taken a few moments for himself on the couch, after having spent hours with your baby son, Romeo. It was odd to see Leo lay there on the couch with a phone in his hand and no bandana over his face. He rarely left your bedroom without his bandana, but his ten months of fatherhood already seemed to have been doing a few tricks on him - such as leaving his bandana in the bedroom, until he and his brothers had to leave for the night. And it was with that realisation, that Leo once again had left his bandana on his nightstand, that you had an idea.

With ten months old Romeo on your, you made your way to you and Leo’s shared bedroom, where you found his bandana just where you had expected it to be.

“Come on, baby boy. Let’s show daddy how much you look like him”, you smiled at your son, feeling your heart flutter when he smiled back with a sound of joy. Oh, what parenthood was doing to you.

You placed Romeo on the bed, before wrapping the blue bandana over his head, tying it loosely, before having a small giggle fit at how big it looked on your son. Romeo just laughed and giggled back at you, copying your joy, not that he had any idea what was going on.

Picking Romeo back up, you quickly made your way out to the kitchen where you found two dull butter knives, handing them to Romeo, before he could start pulling at the bandana tails. And with Romeo dressed in his fathers blue bandana and a butter knife in each hand, you made your way to the main living area, giggling as you made your way over to Leo.

Leo heard you and Romeo before he saw you, smiling at his phone when he heard you and your son giggle. “What are you two finding so funny?”

Leo looked up from his phone, and was meet by the sight of you holding your son up in front of Leo’s line of view, where Romeo was flapping his arms up and down like a pair of wings, making it look like he was swinging the knifes around, with a big smile of his face, the bandana now covering one of his eyes.

Leo let out a loud laugh, letting his phone drop before reaching out for Romeo, propping him up on his platron. “What’s this?”

“It’s Leonardo Jr.”, you smiled, watching with a smile as Romeo lost interest in the butter knives and started to play with one of Leo’s thumbs. You took a seat on the floor next to the couch, where you could rest your head against Leo’s shoulder, as he still laid there and took up all the space.

“I thought you were against that name”, Leo laughed, wiggling his thumb, causing Romeo to let out a squeal like laughter. Though it was loud, it was a joy to both you and Leo’s ears.

“You’re right, I was”, you said, smiling as the bandana only continued to slide down Romeo’s small face, blinding him momentarily. Again, not that he seemed to notice, too busy playing his own little game with Leo’s thumb. “Probably a sign that we should make a second one just for that name”.

Leo chuckled, shaking his head at you, yet never taking his eyes off your little boy. “Devil woman”.

Tmnt facts that are canon cause i said so:

All Leo's are sci-fi fans of varying degrees of old sci-fi series/movies

But MM!Leo thinks the old movies are old and thus has no major franchise to obsess over, he is just big into any of the more modern movies of the genre: I'm thinking Interstellar, Blade Runner, idk many more. And then he started watching Final Space and eventually got into Futurama.

But he still would think the other Leo's are old and a bit lame for enjoying old anime so much.

All the Donnie's and Leo's are the musical fans, but that doesn't mean that Raph and Mikey can't enjoy a musical too! Especially 2003!Raph who grew up watching shit like high school musical and teen beach movie with Leo and Donnie.

The 2003 boys all teamed up to sit on Mikey and tape Mikey's mouth shut cause he would dramatically and badly sing the songs otherwise.

2018 crew are hard into Hamilton of course while 2012 have a knock off version of it that flopped but Mikey loves.

2003 have a musical version of Lost Boys and Faries that could possibly be comparable with some rap songs and some emotional ballads.

Bayverse and MM have batman while 2018 have a weird mixture of some irl media and some really obvious knock offs. 2012 has Wingnut and Silber sentry as comics to replace Marvel and DC in their universe and we all know how 2003 is on superheroes.

All the Mikey's are naturally talented at drawing apart from 2012 who's skills apparently just got transferred to literally every single one of his siblings.

2012!Mikey's writing looks like chickenscratch and his drawings are chaotic in an abstract art kinda way, while 12!Leo can draw anime, 12!Karai is decent at drawing anything reallt, 12!Donnie preffers skatching items and backgrounds rather than people and 12!Raph is the one who does art the most in the fam.

The 1987 turtles are stuck in 1987 and have been since 1987. They like crossovers for the change of pace but 87!Raph and 87!Donnie very much dislike how other turtles have treated them in the past so take any and ever chance to fuck with their alternates in retaliation, feigning innocence well enough that they keep getting away with blatantly insulting their iterations to their face.

Leo is the tea drinker in the family across iterations but most of the iterations don't drink coffee - rottmnt gets into coffee wars (sans Leo and Splinter) but other than that 2007!Donnie and Bayverse!Raph are the only rabid coffee drinkers.

most of the Donnies drink energy drinks if they want a caffeine boost - the nonbinaries and their Monster especially.

The MM kids aren't allowed coffee because Splinter read a watched of child-raising YouTube videos and banned it. Of course that doesn't stop them from sneaking out. MM!Donnie is trying to convince him to allow coffee while MM!Raph just sneaks in his energy drinks.

2003!Casey was convinced the turtles were adults for at LEAST the first month into their friendship.

The ampunt Mikey wears stickers is directly proportional to the amount of leeway Splinter gives him - with the used-to-be-human Splinters being more strict on not personalising his weapon while the used-to-be-rat Splinters such as MM gives the go ahead.

The outlines of this rule are 03!Splinter and 18!Splinter of course who have entirely different ways of handling their adhd child.

And then there is bayverse!Splinter who said fuck the stickers, yes of course my 15-year-old children can have tattoos.

(And yes I firmly believe they were 15 in the first movie, and I attribute their tattoos to Splinter not really seeing the harm in it, or caring much as long as it won't hurt them.)

18!Leo is biologically the eldest but no one knows this apart from Draxum who will never tell at this point. Splinter aged them based on size.

On the other hand, 03!Leo is the biological youngest but only Donnie knows this (science shit to find it out) and will never tell anyone because he found out that 03!Mikey hatched first and that information can never be allowed to get to the turtle in question.

2012 Casey is transfem but doesn't know it yet and 2018 Casey is what 12!Casey will look like at 20.

All Donnie's watch anime and all Mikey's watch horror movies - despite how much they may or may not scream at the horror movies.

07!Mikey sells art online and 07!Leo becomes a language tutor in their 20's. Ironic as 12!Raph attempts to sell art online but becomes too emotionally attached to his work and 12!Donnie attempts to tutor for a time but is a terrible teacher.

Leo is a basketball or baseball fan, Raph likes wrestling and basketball, Donnie will partake in basketball or volleyball and Mikey prefers dancing but is open to playing anything... just not watching.

Splinter always watched the tennis, becuase his grandmother did. Leo likes to put it on but doesn't like playing it.

Mikey will forever be confused why the others enjoy watching sport. This stemms from when he was 12 and trying to watch his cartoons and Splinter would always take control of the TV during the Olympics. Mikey is still very salty and has an agenda against the Olympics and any other big sports match on their communal TV.

All the Leo's before 2012 just didnt use the Internet or any electronics as a kid and thus struggles with electronics massively.

Conversely 2012 and 2018 Leo were both on tumblr as kids and read fanfic about Space Heros and Jupiter Jim respectively.

And in addition: Donnie was on the Internet far too much as a kid.

(12!Donnie will never tell but 12!Mikey befriending Chris Bradford on Facebook hit a bit too close to home.)

After Don, Raph is the best at mechanics, other than 18!Raph who is kinda shit at them.

Splinter taught all of the turtles first aid but Raph and Mikey are patched up the most by the other two, which leads to the other two being more confident and skilled at first aid.

Leo's first aid experience is very much similar to an army medic, using improvisation based on his prior knowledge without any of the proper hospital procedure while Donnie's is much more based on his research into medicine and thus much more clinical.

The outliers are the 18!kids cause Donnie finds biological shit kinda disgusting unless he HAS to do it.

And then there is the 87!turtles who don't really get hurt for longer than an episode's run time. Despite this every single one of them are able to accurately and skillfully carry out any medical procedure should the need arise becuase cartoon logic and convenience. It is a skill they have and its usually 87!Donnie ordering them about while 87!Raph plays nurse.

Mikey and Raph spray paint together sometimes in all iterations other than 87.

87!Mikey and 87!Leo have never kmowingly committed a crime.

Mikey looks up to Leo most out of his siblings, and Leo would look up to Mikey in turn if he could get over the jealousy towards his youngest brother.

There is not a single itteration where Leo doesn't sometimes kinda wish he could be more like Mikey - he has never voiced these feelings and hates that he feels this jealousy.

If you wake Leo up from sleeping he will be alert, a bit grumpy about it, but will never turn you away. He rarely gets a full good night's sleep anyways, ans becuase of this he is prime target to bother when he is awake... up until they turn 14 where Leo gets into the habit of pretending to be asleep so Mikey doesn't bother him and starts meditating until he falls asleep.

The prior headcannon excludes rottmnt and mutant mayhem.

Mikey starts bothering Donnie more and joins him in the lab late at night a lot.

If you dare to disturb Raph's beauty sleep you will get a pillow to the face and a shouting to at the least.

Everyone of the turtles loves Kung Fu Panda or whatever similar movie exists in their world. They won't admit it but its because Poe reminds them of Mikey.

Raph maintains that he doesn't like physical contact much to get out of hugging the sweaty humans in his life. He is actually fairly chill with hugs he just hates the feeling of sweat on his scales so much, and learnt that the hard way when Casey brought him in for a hug after a fight and he shoved him off and blustered a bit. But any of his siblings hugging him is fine, he only ever shoves them off out of annoyance.

Donnie is the least huggy turtle, but he will sometimes lean his full body weight on April - which is fine in most iterations but some cannot handle the weight, I'm looking at Bayverse.

If Mikey were a human he would be a borderline nudist when home and everyone who lived with him would complain about it.

Like [insert hair covering here] and a fluffy dressing gown from when he was 9 wrapped around the waist if you're lucky.

I imagine that Leo can understand and read Japanese but he can’t speak it, so whenever he and Sayuri talk they do so frequently in Japanese (well… at least he tries to 😅)

She cooks and he cleans

He’s an early bird and she’s a night owl.

He’s by the book and she’s a free sprit.

When Sayuri studies, he brings her tea. When he trains, she wipes the sweat from his brow.

Sayuri, being a former karate athlete, practices some katas with Leo. Splinter finds them adorable btw.

Fav sleeping/cuddle position 💕: Leo laying his head on her chest (in my humble opinion, Leo is a boob guy)

They are giving geisha x samurai warrior

Sayuri always makes the tea, because Leo prefers how she makes it compared to how he does it.

They love reading the same books and binging anime together because they’re nerds and introverted weebs 🤓✨

And sometimes those binge sessions turn into something else (if u know what i mean)

They would spar playfully in the dojo from time to time

They both LOVE deep conversations (etc. meaning of life, point of existence, origins of the universe)

They def have plant children, and they have a watering and trimming schedule together 🥺🌱

Sayuri likes to cook for her turtle beau. Udon, yakisoba, okonomiyaki, onigiri, mochi, curry, miso. Leo learns a lot from Sayuri when they cook together. He now knows how to execute a good miso soup with rice.

Sayuri always carries a tracking charm and help button on her medical bracelet that Leo had requested Donnie to create. After how they first met, Sayuri doesn’t really mind.

Sayuri LOVES to watch Leo train. His amazing strength and precise technique astounds her every time. Not to mention those biceps 👀 Leo knows his girl is watching so he shows off a little too heheh

Their date nights are pretty vanilla. Cooking and having dinner together, movie nights, book club sessions, or even just conversation. Sometimes though, Leo will take her into the city and show her exclusive views.

Carrying her bridal style when they travel makes Leo feel so strong 💕 she’s his Queen 👸

not so big on PDA but Sayuri will initiate the occasional hand-holding and Leo will sling an arm across her waist and shoulders from time to time

When they argue, it’s usually because of either Leo’s arrogance or Sayuri’s stubbornness. They’re so like-minded that they tend to but heads sometimes.

im genuinely fascinated by how the second bayverse tmnt movie feels more written fro children than the first one did, like, the jokes are just more childish and built on weird contrivances, none of the villains have any intimidation and most of the characyers despite also being human act like cartoon charactatures than anyone in the first movie ever did, not to mention how they dumb down shredder and make him feel so much lamer as a villain that when he started crying abkut being betrayed i was flabberghasted as i had expected him to only be following along with krangs plan becuz he was gonna back stab him, however i will say, i love bebop and rocksteady, i can get behind them no matter what they do <3

which is almost strange cuz the wiritng for the boys feels more consistantly like dumb teenagers than the previous movie which is a step up in writing (tho the mid movie conflict could use more refinement since it feels a lil sloppy and the conclusion descion feels odd given the conflict of the movie even tho i know that its mostly to keep consistant with the prescident kf the series, meaning the conflict needed a tighten conclusion on the boys wants) furthormkre, the like useage of the "wrre ninjas" and related stock ohrases that fuel the conflict and leos perspective are much more grating and intrusive than in the first movie

also the using of megan fox as a sex object is so much more obvious in this movie its so painful bro, not to mention brand placement gokd heavens, and dear god the copoganda is soooooo bad, it is like nonstop copoganda its so thick in the last half of the movie jesus christ

like i know that both movies were nickelodeon things ans therefore made for children to a major degree, however id love to know what went on in management that made the second movie more childish in tone

Yes I am aware that they are all men. No, I do not experience a sexual attraction to them. Rather it's like they are all simultaneously my fathers, my children, and my emotional support babygirls. I want to hurt them purely to see them comforted. I want to watch them struggle mainly to see how they overcome their pains, and I want to see fluff because there is a reason I call them my trauma buddies and I want them to have good things. (I have gay ships for most of them on top of straight ships, on top of no ships, on top of ot3s). I'm sure I'll end up adding to and subtracting from this list as time passes, but this is the most current one.

I think one of the things I like in my turtles is specificity.

For instance, Rise are very specific turtles. They're quite different from the turtles in previous incarnations. And I like them! My favourite is Leo, who is especially different from other Leos.

87 are specific, in their case the pretty much had to be. They weren't aiming for the same demographic as Mirage (they were aiming at a different demographic in the hopes both demographics would buy the same toys) so no one had any pre-conceived notions of who these turtles would be. They didn't ignore who these turtles were in Mirage - although they adapted a bit, Raphael especially gets less violent - but they're not identical either. They're turtles that work in the story they're in.

The 90s movie turtles are shifted back towards the comic, but they're also pretty specific. Donatello's less of a genius, more of a double act with Mikey. Why? Probably because he's in a live action show and that makes hi-tech inventions higher budget than in a cartoon. Plus, it's all a bit more grounded, so he's not likely to invent some of the wild stuff 87 Donatello invents. They're turtles for this story.

The 03 turtles are a hard shift back as close to the comic as possible on children's television, but this doesn't make them less specific to their story. The story is also shifted closer to the comic.

The 07 movie is not specific. It assumes you know these guys, you know, they're the turtles! It doesn't bother to introduce any of them. It doesn't make it clear whether it's a sequel to the 90s movies or not. It's the first example (that I'm aware of) of what becomes a sort of "movie turtle soup", turtles that are a mix of all the most expected traits of previous iterations. They're meant to be immediately recognisable to the audience at the cost of leaving everything about them vague.

12 is a series but it's also pretty soupy. It's trying really, really hard to contain everything everyone liked about previous iterations. Everything memorable. So its turtles are pretty endearing and they grew on me, but they're deliberately built to be what you expect. Raphael is both "cool but rude" and the angry, fighty one, even though those were originally traits of two different Raphaels. Similarly, Donnie has bits of both 03 Donatello's level-headed compassion and 87 Donatello's mad scientist tendency towards explosions. It makes him come off as sweet, but highly-strung, which is, I guess, a new take after all.

Batman vs TMNT is fun but but it's movie turtle soup. The point is for them to be recognisable fast. As a result I enjoyed the movie but came away with little connection to the turtles.

I haven't seen Bayverse.

Rise, as I said, are specific. And I think that makes their movie more interesting too. They exaggerate traits more than in the series: Donnie being more averse to touch in general than sometimes not liking to use his hands and preferring his shell covered, for instance. But they don't expect viewers to come in already knowing who their turtles are, they're not assuming we've watched the series (I actually hadn't), and they get across who they are and what's going on between them in a fast and fun way.

I don't think Mutant Mayhem was soup. I didn't really enjoy it - this isn't the only thing that determines whether I like turtles, and in the end I liked 12 well enough even though I do think they're soup - but it did have specific turtles.

TMNT-VDAY: Week 1

This is very late but better late than never. 🤣

Anyways, this is for @tmnt-tychou prompt on her Valentine's Day event: OTP.

I've made the week 2 before this one since the second week took less time. So, if you don't like spoilers of any kind then I recommend not reading this.

In which TMNT Universe does your pairing exist?

My pairing exist in Bayverse. This takes place in 2022, present time. It's been over six years since the Kraang attack in the 2016 movie. A lot has happened during those six years, but all of that has been explained in the first book (Burning Mutation) and second book (Party Mutation).

Introduce us to your OTP!

I was having difficulty choosing my OTP because I am making a series and I love them all, but decided to do Donnie and Aurora. Let me introduce you to Aurora, even though you've probably heard of her before. ^^

Aurora is a 24 year old woman who was born and raised in London, but flew to New York for college in Biology and Engineering. Yes, she could easily go to college in London but she wants to start fresh. Plus, she loves to go to New York City.

Aurora is working for TCRI, but doesn't like the way they run things. Her IQ almost reaching Donnie's booksmarts and she isn't dumb whatsoever, but there is a difference between common sense and booksmarts. Shy, reserved, and prefers to stay in the shadows. Think of it as the one emo kid that stays in the back of the class, then roasts everyone when they mess with them.

Except she isn't emo.

She's a classy woman that drinks coffee in the morning and drinks wine when she gets home. She's chubby with glasses, thick curly red hair, and loves oversized clothing. Loves the turtlenecks. Mikey calls her "Velma" because of it.

Aurora can be pretty stubborn and it's hard to persuade her into thinking something different. Science? Yes. Romance? Oh, no! She ain't having it! But her reasoning came from her home background and watching other people's relationships going down the drain. She saw romance a "waste of time" and "energy spender."

Why have romance in real life when you have yourself?

Her college friend, April, was talking to Aurora about her type of men. Aurora rolled her eyes, knowing what her friend was trying to do. "I appreciate your help, April, but I'm not interested in some bafoon that only cares about sex than her woman's feelings and thoughts. And don't get me started on men have no respect for women whatsoever! I am telling you, my dearest friend. There is no such thing as love and romance. All of it is children's fairytale."

Ouch, am I right?

Donnie heard the whole conversation and he winced at the vemom of her words. It's obvious that she has been through somethings that caused her to have such views. So, that's when he was determined to figure it out.

While they were working together, Donnie mentioned about her views on romance. Aurora sighed as she organized some paperwork into files, always a clean freak. "Why do you want to know so badly? It's not like you are interested in me."

Donnie was flabbergasted. He found a woman that is just as smart, beautiful, and over all bad***. And she wants to know why he was interested in her? When there was silence, Aurora told him her backstory. She was raised in a toxic home. Her mother was a sweetheart, the sweetest woman you will ever meet. Then her father was a drunkard who will manipulate and harm her mother in every way. They argued all the time when she was child, it's a never ending thing. When they finally divorced and her mother took Aurora with her, her mother said, "Never fall in love, sweetheart. You will be tormented beyond belief and get your heart broken. Men are just cruel."

Being a child, she believed her mother's words. As she grew older, she saw that her mother was right. She saw relationships fall and heard so many negatives that she decided to never fall in love with a man. Yes, attraction was there but she saw men in their true colors before she could do anything.

Donnie felt so bad for the woman. She never dated anyone because of other people's experiences. She's a huge observer. Then, that's when he decides an offer.

How did they meet?

She has met Donnie not once but twice! He doesn't know who she is until she told him what happened during the fight in the second book.

Donnie was wanting more information about TCRI because they're connected from Tabitha (Raph's girl) and Serenity (Mikey's girl). April mentioned she has a friend who used to go to college with her, then offered to get some answers. Donnie agreed and April met up with Aurora on a girl's day.

Aurora figured out that she was being recorded and was wondering why. April told her about Tabitha and Serenity, then Aurora gave her some answers but some of them were kept secret. April asked Aurora if she wants to team up with her and friends on taking down TCRI, knowing Aurora's views on the company. The British woman agreed and, with permission from Splinter, April took her to the lair.

That's when Donnie saw Aurora for the "first time."

How is the relationship now? (This is continuing with the first question)

The relationship has ups and downs like normal relationships. At first, it wasn't really a relationship. Donnie offered to be her "boyfriend" and prove to her that there are good men out in the world. If she gave him a chance and fall in love, then they will date officially. If not and stuck to her beliefs, then he won't mention any relationship stuff ever again.

He was risking his own feelings into this, and made a huge gamble. He doesn't know if she will ever return his feelings. She knew of them because he confessed to her during the whole conversation. All he saw was a good woman that was having emotional trauma and he wants to prove himself that he wasn't like other men.

That's when he showed her what a true man was like. Months have passed and the more Donnie gave her affection, the more she craved.

When Donnie kissed her knuckles, she blushes.

When Donnie complements her clothes, she smiles.

Donnie gave her gifts, she cried happy tears because she didn't know that men can give their woman gifts (her father never gave her mother gifts).

And that's when she realized, Aurora fell in love with Donatello. Hard. She craved so much of him and felt so guilty for the way she treated him. She apologized profusely while she cried and Donnie held her through it all.

They were meant to be.

What is each other's love language?

Aurora, at first, was quality time. She could be in the same room with Donnie and she will be content. Now, she wants physical touch. Just a graze of his fingers on her hand or waist could make her yearn for more. Cuddles is her favorite thing. When Donnie was busy, she would get in his lap and he would kiss her forehead and play with her hair.

Donnie makes gifts for her. Anything that reminds him of Aurora, he makes it. Either be a rose necklace or anything that will be useful for her. But he enjoys the physical touch. The poor man is just as touched starved like Aurora.

They both enjoyed each other's company and physical touchs.

Do they get married? Have any kids?

Yes, they do get married! It's after the fourth book (Dream Mutation) where I write scenarios that follow after the war and they live in harmony.

They do end up having kids but, consider the gene difference, they don't just pop babies like humans can.

What is your favorite thing about this pairing? (Gush out!)

What I love about this pairing is that there's struggle during the whole bonding phase. Aurora was reluctant on telling Donnie anything, especially her past. She said harsh words, even at his brothers because Mikey was teasing her in a joking way when she first entered the lair.

Mikey said, "What's up, girl! Love how we have another girl in the group!" He was just happy that he was making another friend. You know how Mikey is. Plus, he has a girlfriend. He's just happy that Serenity is having another female friend.

Aurora gave him the stink eye. "You look like the cheating type. Flirting with other women isn't right, you know."

Yeah, she's very judgmental and she lost some points with the family in the beginning. But she saw her actions were wrong and apologized for it. Mikey forgave her (bless his soul) and gave her the biggest hug she has ever received.

I want to write something that people can relate to. My writing has always been more on the realistic side and seeing that Aurora has been through things that we have been through makes me feel happy, in a way.

There isn't any "love at first site" type of thing. There's bonding and getting to know each other. Donnie has patience and willing to do anything for Aurora even though that there is a possibility he will get hurt. But he told himself it will be worth it because she is worth it!

Aurora has been through so much, then Donnie proving that there is such thing as love and good men in the world. She found out that her mother is wrong and love was standing right in front of her. He has sacrificed so much and she felt guilty that she didn't have anything in return.

Donnie told her that he already got what he wanted and that's her. The flaws and scars are with the package of having something worth it. She promised that she will always be there for him through everything. Even when he has no coffee and goes on a rampage, she still loves him anyways.

I hope you love this pairing just as much as I do! 💜

Ok in an all out “no fair fights” brawl between all the TMNT iterations ( I didn’t include 03 or 07 because I haven’t seen those lol)

Rise boys are DEFINITELY coming out on top, not just because of their must weapons, BUT HAMATO NINPO

(wait would that work against their counterparts?? Can they use it against other Hamatos? But most iterations aren’t Hamato?? Whatever, doesn’t matter, I’m saying they have their Ninpo)

Second place - Bayverse Bros, people theme to forget that they are MUCH bigger than most their counterparts (Donnie’s almost 7ft) and BULLETPROOF

Third place - 2012, they are strong, fast , and the most stealthy of the bunch. But it’s important to note that they almost always loose the fist battle with a new enemy, throughout their series victories come after they learn about the opponent, come up with a plan, and work together (which doesn’t work to well in this situation, I think they’d have a much better chance of they knew ahead of time) I THINK IT WOULD BE REALLY CLOSE BETWEEN THEM AND BAYVERSE

Fourth- 87, the 2012 guys easily beat them in their crossover, but they tend to get nerfed in the crossovers, they ARE strong fighters and HAVE defeated strong enemies on there own

Fifth - 90, they definitely CAN fight,,,, but,,, uhhhhh,,,, almost all of the villains they face are literally untrained children, their shredder was a real threat but It took all of them, Splinter, April, Casey, and two movies to take him down (and he was just a guy, mutated eventually, but still just a guy) I LOVE THE 90S TURTLES BUT THEY DON’T HAVE A CHANCE

🐢🥀TMNT: Aliyah Rose EVOLUTION 🥀🐢

Okay, remember when I said that I would make a Evolution of my OC through the years of the TMNT Franchise? Well, after months of not publishing any content (i was only doing reblogs, just that because I was so busy at college) I finally did it! And yeah, these fives Aliyahs all look the same (And probably look like I did an Outfit Tag) each of them hace different personalities.

Let me explain a little bit, ¿Shall We?

-TMNT 1987: In the 1987 mini series, Aliyah is introduced as a young waitress working at a small dinner, she nice and shy. her role was like “Damsel in Distress” type when she was in danger and she has no clue how to protect herself. And even though she got scared at turtles at first time she saw them, she becomes friends with them.

-TMNT 2003: In the 2003 series, Aliyah is a stubborn girl and ninja expert after witnessing that her adoptive mother’s death, she vows to bring justice, find a way to end the Foot Clan. She very Independent and prefers to work alone, she think that the turtles are “sticking their noses where it doesn’t belong” but stared to befriends with them and stared to find peace within along with Splinter. (She’s like Raphael, they may have been bffs in this dimension)

TMNT 2012: In the 2012 series, Aliyah is a teen who goes to the same school where April and Casey go, she hangs out along with April too much but then she notices at a small change in New York, she decides to make stand for herself and protect her sister and mother. She’s really badass but also a prankster and intelligent, she likes watch Space Heroes with Leo when she’s bored and loves to eat pizza with the turtles, April, Casey and Splinter because they are her new family. [I love this series so much! It’s my favorite]

TMNT 2014/16 (BAYVERSE): You know this one guys! The Independent and Swell waitress/librarian girl at day but a ninja vigilante at night. She a Tomboy who doesn’t like wearing a dress/skirt and likes to train, she had a normal life until she was almost attacked by two pervs who tried take advantage of her and manage to defend herself using an extraordinary ability to sense imminent danger (Like a Spider Sense). She meets Leo when she saw him chasing a foot soldier who tried to take her as a hostage but it didn’t work. She promises to help him and his brothers to take down the Shredder. Annnd that my children, is how the Love Story between the Leader in Blue and the Devilish Angel begin. [I love Bayverse!Leo, he’s SO HANDSOME!! 💙]

Tmnt 2018 (RISE!): Well I’m gonna be honest, I don’t know too much about the RISE! but I only can say that this Aliyah is more like a girly teen who got bitten by a Oozesquitoe that turned her into a mutant (Half Human/Half Balinese Cat), with the fear of people think might see her as a Freak, she hide in the shadows so no one can see her. But when she meets the turtles, she stared to regain her confidence and began to train along with them and April for self defense. She’s likes kawaii stuff and is really she likes to do dancing with April. (Also, Rise! Aliyah thinks that Raph is really adorable because of his sweetness, thinks that Leo is SUUUUPEEEER annoying and it irritates when he tries to flirt her)

For today's scheddule, I want to be a little more active in the rise community and share my experience of when I started watching the series.

I got to know of it thanks to tumblr. Now, I had never been a huge tmnt fan tbh, the 2003 series didn't appeal to me much when I was little and the 2012 turts arrived during my I'm-too-grown-up-for-cartoons phase. I did watch the bayverse movie, though, and that's why I think I got recommended some posts here about rise during fall 2018. The design was so different from what my mental image of what a ninja turtle looked like that it intrigued me a lot.

And was I up to a great surprise when I started watching Rise. The first thing that called my attention was the character designs. They were so interesting and unique, they deviated a lot from the cartoons I was used to watch back then, but in a good way, more detailed and refreshing and expresive. And it wasn't only the characters, the backgrounds, ambiance, the action... You see, I had been lately obsessed with the spiderverse movie (still am), and I saw so many of the same influences in Rise that I was ecstatic. The comic-esque designs and framings, the INSANE action sequencies that were just SO well choreographed and so well filmed (it trully looks like a movie sometimes with intrincate camera movements), the beautiful scenes and photography-like moments...

I have to admit, the speed of the action was sometimes so fast I felt like I was on drugs and ended up with a high adrenaline sensation. But mostly bc the animation was so detailed that many things were happening at the same time and I wanted to get ALL of it. It STILL IS fantastic.

The second thing that called my attention was the humour. God, was this a funny series. And in the best way. They are teenage turtles, they are absurd and awkward and sarcastic and funny, as it is mandatory for their age. And the humour was so on point with the times, very different from the timeless somewhat very repetitive sense of humour other cartoons have. I am still completely unable to go through most of he episodes without cry-laughing - and this thanks to the fantastic writers and also the fantastic voice actors. The interactions between the characters and specially the turtles just feel so organic, realistic and funny. Their interactions also felt so wholesome, I trully loved the good message they were conveying with their sibling relationships.

And finally, as the zoology nerd that I am, I was in LOVE with the idea of choosing different turtle species and including some semi-subtle physical characteristics to display. I am a slut for accurate and diverse species representation, animals that actually look like the animals they are supposed to be. I work in conservation, and I am well aware of the power that media has in order to educate the population of all ages. Many turtle species, like the softshells, are gravely endangered, so featuring them in media for children like rise can help a ton with visibilty of these species and the struggles of conservation efforts. Also, I think this decision can also influence some kids to be interested in turtles and reptiles and biology, just by peaking their curiosity, and that is always a good thing. We all start with something as little as a turtle on tv.

After binge watching Rise I decided to watch the other tmnt series and movies (haven't watched it all yet, unfortunately), and I got deep into the turtle hole obsession and fandom. I appreciated even more the changes they introduced for Rise, like the leadership position, Splinter's and April's characters, and so on, bc it is really obvious to me and many more fans that they are the same characters at their core. It showed that the writers understood fully the material they were working with and the personalities of the characters, and therefore were able to expose them to variations that spiced things up without breaking the show in the slightests.

I was devastated to hear about its cancellation, mainly bc it TRULLY is a magnificent show, for objective and subjective reasons, and I cannot process that some people do not see it's potential and already gained greatness.

Venus de Milo (TMNT AU Profile)

The TMNT AU summary: This is an alternate universe of teenage mutant ninja turtles (mostly inspired by the 2003 series and Bayverse movies) that was inspired by the structure of a "coming-of-age" novel. After losing their beloved father and incomparable master and defeating Shreder, the enemy they have been chasing since the age of 15, Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo must learn to accept the grief and move on with their lives. None of it will be easy, now that the transition from adolescence to adulthood will be strongly impacted by an unexpected reunion with two women from their past and the new friends who have joined them.

In this universe the boys met Venus because she spent 9 months being trained by Mestre Splinter when they were only 10 years old. It is a consensus among them that they share the same mutation, but all the genetic tests that Donatello made were inconclusive (yes, that does strasses him out).

During this period when Venus spent 9 months in New York studying the old history and secrets of the biggest and most famous ninja clans with Mestre Splinter (Hamato Yoshi's only living heir) her relationship with the turtle brothers was somewhat troubled. At the time, they were all children and the tension of having a girl in the group made it very difficult for them to interact normally. Raphael and Michelangelo used to exclude her from the games and playdates with the excuse that it was "for boys only!" and Leonardo felt very jealous of his master (and father), who seemed to pay special attention to this lost konuichi. Of all of them, however, the one who made the most hell of Venus's life was (who knew!) Donatello. Even with his gentle and pacifist spirit, Donnie did not like this new guest who claimed to be (ABSURD!) high priestest of a lost lineage of magical Konuichi. They were doomed to disagreement: after all, a little prodigy of science and a child with magical powers are two existences that contradict each other. But as soon as she came, Venus left, after finishing her intensive course with "Master Hamato" (which is how she referred to Splinter) she returned to Japan and spent the next 11 years training extensively every day to be able to become the best guardian of the Secret of Kunoichi Magic that had ever existed. Without the distraction of other brothers or  any friends close by, Venus became the most dangerous and disciplined warrior who had ever set foot on this Earth.

Now a young woman, Venus reencounters her former hashi colleagues. What does the future await?

Characteristics:

Because of her disciplined and restricted upbringing, Venus has a very difficult time socializing with other people (or mutants!) her age. She doesn't know what a "meme" is, how twitter works, what's the fun of a 6-second video with a cat sppining to the sound of "sweet dreams are made of this". Having grown up in a temple and spent her entire life studying, she has a different concept of what "fun" is.

Her favorite hobbies include reading, meditating, studying ancient history documents, doing push-ups, kneading healing herbs, studying new types of incense and their calming propreities, etc ... All things that she also does as part of her daily work as the Keeper of the Kunochi Secret, so... The boundaries between fun and work are very thin.

She is an excellent reader and can read fluently in three languages: English, Japanese and Cantonese. She loves to read, it's her favorite activity, especially out loud, as she considers herself an excellent announcer.

She can defeat any of the Hamato brothers in combat (including Leonardo). Although neither bigger nor stronger, Venus uses the weight of the enemy's and their strength against them. In addition, her physical speed and strategic ability together makes her literally unbeatable.

Despite her advanced combat skills, Venus is extremely shy and anything makes her blush. Especially conversations that involve sexual pleasure and explicit language. Unfortunately for her, Michelangelo will discover this very quickly and will be able to defeat her in a fight whispering "What's up, hot stuff?" during combat. None of the other brothers will understand how he did it and he will never tell.

Despite being aware that her appearance isn't considered neither normal nor attractive to humans, Venus has no problems with self-esteem. She is very proud of her origins and to be the heir to a lineage of magical warriors is enough to make her one of the most beautiful people in the world in her mind.

Despite having a limited social skill, she is a very valuable friend and after she becomes attached to you, she will do everything to guarantee your safety and comfort.

She is very elegant and graceful. She was taught during her upbringing that each movement must be calculated and rehearsed strictly, what makes some of her very commom and daily actions, such as putting on a shoe or pouring tea look like choreography of a soft dance.

Venus believes deeply in soul mates. So she never worried much about learning the art of seduction or how to flirt with other people, since she always knew that one day the right person would cross her path and she wouldn't have to change who she is to win their heart (spoiler: she was right!)

It might not look like it, but she is very easily irritated. The fact is that she can disguise her stress and impatience just as easily. Never loses her temper.

Even with all these characteristics, she is not the leader of the group. This role was given to Mona Lisa (you will be able to read about Mona Lisa from this alternative universe very soon) through an election between the four friends (description of the twins May and June coming soon!). Venus has no grudge against her friend, as she knows that despite her physical abilities, herself lacks the charisma that a leader needs.

She is not very good at comforting others, nor is she a big fan of physical contact.

She was educated to never feel hatred towards anything but despite this she cannot control her contempt for lies. Trust is the most important thing in the world.

Summary of relationship with each of the turtles:

Leonardo: Venus and Leo are kindred spirits. They have, all jokes aside, everything in common. Therefore, when they met each other for the second time, they developed a friendship that made them absolutely inseparable. She likes how he doesn't underestimate her and how he respects her discipline and life doctrine and he likes having a partner to meditate and train. Their union allowed Leonardo to finally have someone with the same dedication (and obsession, honestly) as he, someone with whom he could complain about the neglect of his brothers and someone to train his japanese with, which also guaranteed them a certain privacy and intimacy that Leonardo had not yet experienced with anyone.

Raphael: If asked, Raph will say that he thinks Venus "is ok". Deep down, meeting her for a second time left a bitter taste in his mouth. He is very jealous of his brother and wonders if Venus would not be the true sister that Leo always wanted - besides (of course) the fact that her discipline and posture are literally the combination of all the things he doesn't like in Leonardo multiplied by 10. Despite all this, the thing that he hates the most is her absence of anger: there are few things in the world that Raphael likes more than stressing his perfect big brother and watching him lose his temper, but it seems IMPOSSIBLE to get the same reaction with Venus . No matter how much he teases her, ridicules her or bullies her ... she never breaks! And THAT is unforgivable. Donatello: Donnie, now a 21-year-old man, is ashamed to face the ghosts of his childhood that Venus brings with her. He remembers very well how he treated her when they were young and is very ashamed of how bad he was to her. Age made him realize that despite not sharing the same beliefs he didn't had the right to mistreat her. Because of this, upon their reunion, Donatello can't even look her in the eye... The situation gets so much worse when he realizes that she is kind, peaceful and strategic and that the obsession and discipline she exercises in her spiritual rituals are equivalent to those himself repets with his inventions, experiments and research. In silence, he starts to admire her more and more, and the more he admires her the more shame he feels for how he treated her. For a long time, he fantasies with the day when he will be forgiven and accepted, who knows, maybe she will admire him in the same way ... Poor Donnie, he doesn't even imagine that Venus does not hold a single drop of resentment and that she ends up interpreting him distancing himself of her as a form of showing contempt. (Agsnt is my fucking life)

Michelangelo: Mikey finds Venus so.fucking.intimidating. He remmembered her as a very small and shy crybaby, but now? Now she is the greatest warrior he have ever seen. If Leonardo tries to be the authority figure and ends up rejected by his younger brother, Venus does not have the same intention, but ends up winning the respect and trust of the youngest of the group. She ends up being the only figure that Michelangelo really respects and obeys blindly after Master Splinter. He adores her  just as a troubled student adores the patient and empathetic vice director. Their friendship ends up becoming so sincere and pure that he starts playing video games on mute just to hear the stories she reads aloud.

TMNT Kids Names

I’ve noticed a trend in the TMNT fandom where almost everybody gives the turtles’ children (especially Leo’s) Japanese names. Now, I’m not saying this is bad or wrong in anyway. It’s your headcanon--go wild. But for my personal tastes, I do find it a little awkward. 

Besides certain series like 2012, I don’t see any of the guys having a strong enough connection to Japanese culture to name their children in this way. They were “born” in America and don’t even have Japanese names themselves (excluding the last name Hamato, which is only canon in the 2012 series, hence why I singled that one out). Heck, I see this trend with the Bayverse turtles the most, but that Splinter isn’t even from Japan as Hamato Yoshi or his pet--he was just a lab rat with no memory before then.

Now, that is not to say they don’t have a connection to Japan (and obviously Splinter in most of the other series is from Japan, whether man or rat), but there is a difference between appreciating Japanese culture and using Japanese names for children with potentially no Japanese heritage. Most of their connection to the culture is solely them training as ninja. If their kids’ mother is Japanese in your headcanon (or you just prefer these names) then again, don’t listen to me. Do your thing. XD

But I feel we are missing out on another naming theme that has a much better connection with the turtles: Italian Renaissance painters. Because where do the guys’ names come from?

So, to cut this short, none of the guys have Japanese names, but they do have a naming scheme that they feel proud of... most likely. So instead of giving their kids names from Japan, why not give them names like their father?

I actually have a few suggestions that I like, so if you want, read more below. These are some really cool artists too!

Okay, so starting off with girl names, since female Renaissance artists are hard to find (to the point I included some Baroque artists too), I have a few ideas:

Artemisia - Let’s start with the technically Baroque artist, Artemisia Gentileschi. She was Italian, so at least that follows the name scheme, and had some of the harshest art at the time. Most of her art depicted women in non-traditional roles, often powerful and violent. Her art was shaped by a horrible tragedy in her past--being taken advantage of by one of her father’s partners--so she wanted to depict women as not subservient creatures, but people with their own minds and strength. Her art was specialized in women of myth who had suffered. Personally, I feel like Raph or Leo would like this name because of how powerful it sounds. It is derived from a masculine version of Artemis, after all. Name your daughter after a goddess! Example of her art (title - Jael and Sisera):

Marietta - Next, we have Marietta Robusti, another Italian painter from an artistic family. She is the eldest daughter of Tintoretto, another famous Italian painter. In fact, she earned the nickname la Tintoretta because of her father. She had such a close relationship with her father that she would even dress like a boy to go with him everywhere. In fact, she had offers to become the court painter for Emperor Maximilian and King Philip II of Spain, but her father refused them because he wanted to stay close to her. Sounds like the perfect name for a daddy’s girl. XD Marietta does not have much art attributed to her, due to being a woman, but it is said she assisted her father with his paintings. Her art was described to be very elegant and just as skilled as her father’s. For some reason, I feel like Mikey would really like this name. Example of her art (self-portrait): 

Last for the girls (this could go on forever, if you let me):

Lavinia - After the Italian painter, Lavinia Fontana, best known for doing portraits and being one of the first female career artists--her family actually relied on her income as a painter rather than her husband’s, who served as her agent and raised their eleven children. She was also one of the first women to paint female nudes, but that’s a bit controversial. XD At the time she became famous, there was a high demand for portraits, so Lavinia had many clients. She was especially good with female clients, many of whom became namesakes and godmothers to her children. In regard to her female nudes, it was actually socially unacceptable for women at the time to be exposed to nudity--to the point that if anyone found out she used live models her entire reputation would be tarnished. It is theorized that she used family members as models to get around this, as her art was extremely accurate at depicting disproportionate bodies like they naturally are. Example of her (clean) art (title - Portrait of a Lady with a Lap Dog): 

So now we move onto the guys, though these are much easier to find (and I’m getting tired =_=), so I’ll be a bit shorter here. Now, if I’m being honest, the guy names sound weirder than the girls’, but then again the turtles’ name would sound weird if we weren’t used to them too:

Lorenzo - Coming from Lorenzo Costa, Italian painter. Not much is known about him (or at least I couldn’t find much), but I like the name! Example of his art (title - Holy Family):

Antonello - I could see Donnie using this because it sounds like his name. Anyway, this is from the painter Antonello de Messina. He was known for his unison of Italian simplicity and Flemish attention to detail. He even influenced artists from northern Italy, despite being from southern Italy himself. Example of his art (title - The Virgin Annunciate): 

This is getting a bit long, so I’m gonna stop it here. I’m not even an art history buff, what am I doing writing so much? XD

Anyway, I hope anyone who actually read through this liked what I had to share. I found this name theme much more fun than just slapping Japanese names on the turtles’ kids. Though, if I’m being honest, I feel like only Leo and Donnie might go for this theme (Leo for family tradition and interest, and Donnie solely for interest). I see Raph and Mikey as the types to use more regular names for their kids.

What's your favorite version of TMNT? :) I prefer the 2003 series ^_^ I grew up with it and it's the reason why I'm a fan today! Plus Usagi was gorgeous in it!

Thank you for your question! Well, I like the 2012 version and the bayverse turtles the most, because it was the time when I watched the show and became a fan of it. Also, the bayverse turtles are really pretty in my opinion 🙈🤷‍♀️

But, the 2003 version is very close behind! I love the brotherly bond between the four boys in this version the most.

I‘m not really a fan of the 80‘s turtles. I never watched it as a kid and therefore I don’t get nostalgic when I watch scenes of it. It’s too much for children for me now 🤷‍♀️ Same goes to the new 2018 version. I‘m not a fan of it, but I‘m glad that a lot of people are so that the fandom doesn’t die 🥰 Every TMNT version is great in their own way.

The only thing I never got was the 2007 movie. I know it’s based on the comics (at least that is what I read), but I watched it without reading them and I was very confused back then. Like...why was Leo alone in the jungle? Why were Raph and Leo fighting so much? And so on :D
