8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.

"THAT CONTAINER IS LYING ABOUT ITS CONTENTS"
Matthew 7:15, “Be on your guard against false prophets; they come to you LOOKING LIKE SHEEP on the OUTSIDE, but on the INSIDE they are really like wild WOLVES.” (GNT) My two favorite seasons are Winter and Fall! Winter, because I love Christmas, snow, carols, decorations and the like. And Fall, because I love the colors, Thanksgiving, the start of the scent of fireplaces, but most of all,…

Sacrifice: The Mystery That Turns Murderers Into Missionaries
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:1-2, NKJV) While it may be that 1 Corinthians 13 is…

Free Grace Salvation
Free grace salvation means we are forgiven, justified, and saved solely by God’s grace, and not by any human effort or merit. All humanity is inherently sinful and unable to earn entrance into heaven. Our good works do not save. They never have and never will. Salvation is entirely a work of God. He offers it to sinful humanity as a gift, given freely and unconditionally to all who believe in…

God's Word Sown on the Soil of Fertile Hearts, Brings Forth Much Fruit
Jesus explains the parable of the sower and his seed:
Luke 8:11-18 "The seed is the word of God. Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they shall believe and be saved. But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. But the ones that fell on good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience. No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a vessel or puts it under a bed, but sets it on a lampstand, that those who enter may see the light. For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light. Therefore take heed how you hear. For whoever has, to him more will be given; and whoever does not have, even what he seems to have will be taken from him."

Theology of Demons Miscellanea
"There was never any question [for the Christian] of attributing all evil to man - indeed, the New Testament has far more to say about dark superhuman powers than the Fall of Adam." C. S. Lewis, "Evil and God" in God in the Dock.
I've liked this quote for a long time, but I've recently wondered "is it true?"
At least on a statistical level, yes.
The fall of Adam is referenced three times in the New Testament - Romans 5:12-21, 1 Corinthians 15:20-28, 1 Timothy 2:12-15. By contrast, dark superhuman powers appear in Romans 8:38, 1 Corinthians 15:25-26, 10:20-22 and maybe 2:6-8*, 2 Corinthians 4:4, Galatians 4:3-9, Ephesians 2:2, 3:10 and 6:12, Colossians 2:8, 2:15 and 2:20, 1 Peter 5:8, 2 Peter 2:4, 1 John 4:1-3 and 5:19, Jude 6, and, of course, Revelation 12-13 and 20 - all without counting the Gospel exorcism narratives.
Which leads me onto my next point - despite all of this, and a stated desire to get back to the Bible, Protestant theologies in my personal experience tend to marginalise the demonic and angelic realm (excluding certain denominations like Pentecostals). Sure, they affirm their existence, but there's a discomfort with attributing anything specific to them, especially in the present day, or with giving them a prominent place in theology.
And it's not just me saying. Folklorist Jeremy Harte in his book Cloven Country: The Devil and the English Landscape (about, well, the Devil in English and Welsh folklore) says that:
"In practice, if not in doctrine, Protestant writers rejected the numberless demons that had provided their medieval precursors with such varied explanations of bad weather; they were also disinclined to attribute disasters to Satan himself, as this would abrogate from the sovereignty of God." (p.199)
Because I want to hear what some real Protestants have to say on the issue, tagging @theexodvs and @greater-than-the-sword - particularly, I want to know if you think the marginalisation of demons is a real trend in Protestant theology, and if, so, where it comes from.
My personal theory is that Protestantism began in early modern Europe, where the demons had already been driven out by the people who first converted those countries to Christianity - so Protestant theologians see demons as marginal because, in their time and place, they were.
*Saying "maybe" because that interpretation's unpopular among modern Biblical scholars, but it's what I'm inclined to and has Patristic precedent: for example, St. Athanasius identified the wisdom of the Greeks with occultism and the worship of idols (On the Incarnation 46.4)

what is the Gospel?
Tumblr media
history . .
there is one God in 3 persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
God existed before anything else did; He created all things perfectly, including human beings, who He made in His image (Genesis 1:1, 26-28, John 1:1-3). God is the only holy, perfect Being in existence, and He created us to know Him forever.
God created humanity to partner with Him in ruling His perfect creation, however, humanity quickly fell into rebellion when adam & eve listened to temptation from satan, the serpent. the serpent twisted God's Word and adam & eve trusted in their own judgement rather than God's and listened to their selfish desire to define good and evil for themselves instead of letting God show them what was holy & good (Genesis 3).
adam & eve were cast out from God's perfect garden, severing ALL of humanity's relationship with God and separating us from His presence. because of this original sin (disobeying and distorting God's Word), all of humanity is born in a sinful state. the serpent, too, was cast from the garden and since the original sin, has been influencing the world into more and more evil, temptation, and distance from God. however, God promised that there would be a Descendant from eve Who would crush the serpent's head and defeat him (Genesis 3:14-15).
the sinful state of humanity causes all of us to be separated from God from birth and into eternity; sin cannot coexist with utter purity & holiness (Romans 6:23, 8:7-8).
God stayed faithful in taking care of humanity even despite our separation from Him; He made promises to abraham, isaac, and jacob, and their descendants (the jewish nation israel named after jacob), that they would be God's people and He would be their God (Genesis 22:17, Jeremiah 32: 38). He promised to multiply them, making them a countlessly large nation, to set them apart from the other nations to show the world what God is like (Deuteronomy 7:6), and to send them a Savior who would restore all things and bring justice (Isaiah 9:6). God gave them His Word and fulfilled every promise to them; He rescued His people many times from oppression and the downfall of their own mistakes, yet not even His holy people could stay obedient to God. God gave them His law (found in the 5 books of the Torah) to show His people how to be holy (set apart) and to show them who He is and what He values; in order to be worthy to enter God's presence, there would be animal sacrifices and sanctification rituals (Leviticus 16:21) in order to atone for the sins of Israel (God's people), yet none of His people were perfect and kept rebelling against Him.
God started sending prophets into the world, spoken to by His Holy Spirit who divinely inspired the Word of God (the entire Bible), to warn Israel of the gravity of their sins; soon, if God's people would keep participating in evil and turning away from God, they would be exiled from all of the peace and possessions God had promised them and fulfilled them with.
the prophets spoke of Jesus, who, centuries later, fulfilled every single prophecy spoken of Him . .
The Good News . .
Jesus is God, described as the Son of God and the Word of God become human; Jesus took on human flesh yet stayed completely sinless (Hebrews 4:15). He gave His life in the place of all of humanity, not just Israel, in order to extend God's grace, salvation, and presence, to anyone of any background who would repent and call upon Him (Hebrews 2:17, Galatians 3:8).
"The Gospel" means "the Good news."
to repent, means to completely turn around.
atone, means to make amends.
Jesus became the sacrificial lamb (symbolically) in order to fulfill the law of sacrifice that God's people used to participate in in order to enter God's presence (John 1:29, 1 Peter 1:19); because Jesus is God and was the only One holy enough to perfectly atone, this means that Jesus' sacrifice not only fulfilled every law and prophecy, but humanity finally had the chance to be in right-standing with God (1 Timothy 2:5). this means, that instead of being enemies of God, being estranged or distant from God, we now have the right to become God's children, His people, and His friends (Romans 5:10, John 1:12). to repent of our sins, means to pray to God our Father and confess our sinful nature, our rebellion, and the things we have done that have hurt our relationship with God as well as hurt ourselves & those around us. by confessing, we ask for God's forgiveness, we confess who Jesus is and what He did for us, and through this, we receive the Holy Spirit who testifies that we are God's children and Who seals our salvation in Heaven for eternity (Romans 8:16, 2 Corinthians 1:21-22).
Jesus came to earth as a human, yet also 100% God; He lived a perfect life, started His ministry at 30 years old, baptised, healed, drove out demons, and taught of God's character, Word, and Kingdom. Jesus was persecuted by the nation of Israel in order to fulfill the prophecies, He died on a cross, was tortured and killed in our place, and after 3 days He rose from the dead, to fulfill every prophecy (Mark 8:31). in Jesus' death and resurrection, He defeated our sins, He defeated the enemy (satan), and He defeated death. setting us free, giving us eternal life and forgiveness from the Father if we repent and believe that this is Who Jesus Is.
in Jesus, there is forgiveness, peace, healing, joy, & hope (Galatians 5:22-23, 1 Peter 1:3). God heals, God saves, God loves, His Spirit guides and reassures every believer and Jesus completely sets us free; no matter what you have said or done, no matter how much seems to hold you back, Jesus breaks every chain and meets us where we are, however, He loves us too much to leave us as we are. Jesus gives us the ability to live the life of righteousness (right-living) that God intended for us that we were not able to fruitfully & fully do without Jesus and without God's active help. for all time, God has kept His promises and His Word, He has kept His covenant with those He chose to be His people, and while those people always failed, Jesus never has and never will; Jesus fulfilled our side of the covenant, He paid the price that had to be paid for our sins, and in doing so, we can now have relationship with God for eternity, we can now partner with God in loving His people and doing the work of His Kingdom. God is always near, always present, and desires to help you, heal you, and save you.
there will be more Bible verses below that specifically address salvation & repentance; if you need more context or have more questions, this is a safe space to do so. <3
Acts 4:12 — Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
John 14:6 — Jesus answered, "I am the way, the Truth, and the life. no one comes to the Father except through Me."
Acts 2:38 — Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
John 3:16-17 — For God so loved the world that He gave His One and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.
Romans 8:38-39 — For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 10:9-10 — If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
Hebrews 7:25 — Therefore He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them.
Luke 5:31-31 — Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
Acts 3:19 — Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,
Mark 16:16 — Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
Romans 10:13 — for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Romans 3:23 — for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
Acts 22:16 — And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:23‬ ‭— For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Titus 2:9-10 Urge bondservants to obey their masters and to try their best to satisfy them. They must not talk back, 10 nor steal, but must show themselves to be entirely trustworthy. In this way they will make people want to believe in our Savior and God.
1 Corinthians 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Proverbs 31:30 Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.
1 Corinthians 5:8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
1 Peter 4:8 Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.
May you not be afraid of the words you hear from people influenced by the enemy of God, speaking threats against you and defying your King, for the Lord will give you the victory and with your own eyes you will see the enemy's defeat. Isaiah 37
May you bring the word of the enemy which comes to you and lay it before the Lord, acknowledging His might and glory, confessing your need and distress, and honoring God by making your request known as you turn to Him for rescue and deliverance. Isaiah 37
May you see that suffering such anguish of the soul was for your benefit, for in God's love He kept you from the pit of destruction; therefore you will walk humbly before Him all the years of your life. Isaiah 38
May you willingly and joyfully carry each other's burdens and thus fulfill the law of Christ’s love. Galatians 6
May you test your own actions so you can rejoice in how God has matured you, without comparing yourself to someone else, for we are each responsible for our own conduct. Galatians 6
My child, you must walk in obedience to Me. You may be quiet enough to hear Me and close enough to know Me, but your will continues to resist Me. It is simply the carnal nature you carry within you that is contrary to what I would have you do. What you do is not evil of itself, but it is disobedient to what I lead you to do. The issue is not what you do, but why you do it. Do not be discouraged, My dear one, for I am choosing the path which is designed to make this show up for you to see. I am leading you in discipline that will allow you to overcome the resistance you deal with when your spirit chooses to obey Me, but your carnal mind does not. Continue, My loved one, persist. Proceed to follow Me, one step at a time, even though you do so imperfectly now, for you will grow and increase in wisdom and understanding. Let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, fully obedient, lacking nothing, for I will cause all things to work together for good since you love Me and have been called according to My purpose. Consider it all joy, My precious one, when this is dealt with in so many different ways, for the grace I give to you is seen by more and more people, causing them to give Me glory and honor through praise as they see the work I do in you. For even as the carnal man is decreasing, your inner man is being renewed and transformed day by day into My image, causing the light affliction you feel now to produce an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comprehension. I am rejoicing over you as you exercise yourself in this spiritual workout, My willing one. Even when you stumble or fail to complete an assignment, I am there to lift you up and set you on the path again, for I know your heart is toward Me and you will not turn back. It is not your strength I delight in, My faithful one, but it is your loving determination and eager desire to please and obey Me. That, I will always respond to with loving care.
May you be willing to share the good things of the world with those who instruct you in the good things from the word. Galatians 6
May you chose to sow your time and strength to please the Spirit, for from the Spirit you will reap eternal life, if you do not become weary in doing good and give up before the proper time to reap the harvest. Galatians 6
May you do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Galatians 6
May you never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to you, and you to the world. Galatians 6
May you fulfill your vows to God as you praise Him in Zion, for when you were overwhelmed by sins, He forgave your transgressions; therefore all men will come to Him Who hears prayers. Psalm 65
May you be blessed by God's invitation to live in His courts, where you are filled with the good things of His holy temple, for He answers you with awesome deeds of righteousness. Psalm 65

"CONFRONTING THE ENEMY'S TACTICS!"
Psalm 144:1, “Blessed be the Lord, my Rock and my keen and firm Strength, Who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight” (AMPC) The main tactic of the enemy is deception. “Deception” is defined as, “the act of causing someone to accept as true or valid what is false or invalid; to trick; to cheat; to defraud; to be dishonest.” And that’s exactly who the enemy is, a deceiver, liar and the…

Promoting a Closeness with Him
MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK
=========================
+ 1 Corinthians 13:3 If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing
=========================
VERSE OF THE DAY
========================
+ Galatians 1:10  Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
=========================
SUBJECT: Promoting a Closeness with Him
=========================
** SAY THIS BEFORE YOU READ; HERE’S SOME CHRISTIAN TRUTHS **
I AM LOOKING FOR HIM
I AM SATISFIED WITH MY LIFE
I AM NOT PLEASING PEOPLE
I AM PLEASING GOD
========================
READ TIME: 7 Minutes & 29 Seconds
========================
THOUGHTS:
=======================
 When I was younger, I tended to try to please the people around me. It could be my parents, my sister, or my boss. It didn't matter; I wanted people to be happy with me and what I did, and a lot of times, I didn’t see it as people-pleasing; I just saw it as doing something to keep the ones around me happy.
   I worked at this job once, and no matter what the boss wanted me to do, I did; I stayed over, cleaned the parking lot, cleaned the restrooms, vacuumed whatever he needed. I did it because I thought this would make him happy, but I noticed I was tired and I wasn’t happy, and I knew it was a job promotion coming up , and I thought he’d pick me for it, well it was time for him to announce the new supervisor and he didn’t call my name.
     I was so defeated and caught off guard that I didn’t know what to do with my emotions, so I buried them, tried less, and gave less of myself because I knew that it would hurt less if I gave less, which I learned as I gotten older that was the wrong way to handle my emotions .
  Psalm 107:9 For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things.
     When we people please, we are giving all ourselves to people. Often, people aren’t going to show us the appreciation we need or deserve, but that’s why we must spend our days and lives pleasing God because God sees us. He wants to make us better every day, and each day, we learn that he is what we need, he is what helps us grow, and as we give ourselves to him, we change into better people because we are willing to let go of our bad habits and to have power in him.
   That’s what we gain when we follow God. That’s one of the few things we gain: great love and salvation, and we gain power from on high, but we shouldn’t just be trying to please God to get things or money, like with my boss; that what I was doing, I was trying to obtain a promotion but he saw right through it maybe he didn’t but I realize that in this that we can't do anything to gain SOMETHING because at the end it’s pointless but God wants us to follow him because we love him, do you love him for who he is? Or do you love him for what he can do for you??
  Matthew 16:26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?
    We won't gain anything just following him because God sees right through us. He sees us for who we are and for what we do; the verse tells us we forfeit our souls when we gain the world, but the Bible also tells us God wants us to be content at the end of the day with everything we want and desire God will give us according to his will, not ours, he will give to us to make sure we aren’t in need, but for us to create a bond with God just to get material things is wrong.
  Psalm 118:8 It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans.
    Again, some of us think if I can’t get it through God, I can get it through working all the time or through people! When we trust in humans, we will never win their approval. It will always be this endless thing to satisfy a desire that won't be satisfied. But the thing is about humans: they are never content. We always must have something to get and buy, or once we have something, we always want something else. Being content is hard when we are never satisfied and seek to please others or our selves.
   Ecclesiastes 5:10 He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves wealth with his income; this also is vanity.

1 Timothy 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain,
   One thing is for sure: we can always satisfy God with our life when we are walking in his will, we can always satisfy God with our praise, and we can never please man no matter what we do; sometimes we think pleasing people will get us ahead, but will be serving God with all our heart and all our soul when we do this ??
No, God is waiting for us to accept the plans he has for us! The Bible says being godly and being content is great gain because, in this, we see that things are meaningless and see that what God wants for us is way greater than riches
  *** Today, we learned that doing things to please people and doing things for the wrong reason never gets us anywhere, but whatever it is, when we seek the plans of God, we will achieve his will. Our desires start to become his desires; if I had sought God for what I wanted, I would never have been crushed about the promotions; sometimes we must ask God is this what you want and give me a discernment spirit to see what is happening, we choose to close our eyes to things because we desire them so badly. Still, God wants us to desire him; God wants us to desire him not for things but for relations.
  It’s easy to have our wants and desires and become complacent because we all want more, but God wants us to have more of him, more of his will, not our own. We can accomplish so much in our lives, and we can see the world, but if we don’t have a relationship with God, it all means nothing; having that promotion was all I wanted, but if I didn’t have a true relationship with God, I just would’ve had a job and promotion and nothing else because having things and money isn’t worth losing a relationship with God. ©Seer~ Prophetess Lee

PRAYER
========================
Heavenly Father, thank you for helping us see the truth without any distractions. Help us seek you daily through our heartaches, ups, and downs. Lord, help us to love you not for what you can give us but for what you can be to us; Lord, help this devotion to be a light to our feet and our path with you. Lord, we thank you so much for everything; we ask you to forgive us of the sins we did and be with us this day in Jesus' Name, Amen

Play on other Podcast Apps Continuing this week with part 2 of the series on sin and how to break free of the vicious circle. Grow as a spiritual Christian.  Listen and adhere to the voice of the Holy Spirit (John 14:16-17, 15:26, 16:7, 13-15).
Practice the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23, Colossians 3:12-17) and reject the fruits of the flesh (Galatians 5:19-21, Colossians 3:5-11).
Beware of Satan's attempts to lure you away from following Jesus Christ (1 Peter 5:8-10); but more importantly, remember Jesus Christ is praying that the devil stays away from you (Luke 22:31-32, John 17:15, Romans 8:34).
Follow Jesus Christ at all costs (Matthew 16:24-25, Luke 14:25-34).  Nothing is more valuable than your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ (Romans 10:9-13).
God empower you and bless you, always.
