New Valentines Tournament!

Greetings! This is our mini-tournament for Valentines Day <3. Like the Halloween tournament it will be a 16 contestant competition with 24 hour rounds.

Everyone deserves a chance for their True Love to be celebrated! We are looking for nominations of romantic couples* who are not a major Disney couple/a major focus of the plot. This tournament needs 16 submissions to run. We accept canon, assumed, or even non-canon couples. Submitting pictures and a justification will improve their chances of getting into the tournament. Again this is open to animated and live action as well as theatrical releases and small screen favorites with everything in between.

Examples of those not acceptable: Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse, Troy & Gabriella, Luca & Alberto, Ariel & Eric, or anything like Mother Gothel and Rapunzel

El camaleón desaparecido - Encanto au

TW: mentions of manipulation, character death, scars, angst, and just overall being mean/horrible to a child. (child abduction maybe?)

Main themes/inspiration - Anastasia, Cinderella, Snow white, Hunchback of Notre dame, and Rapunzel.

The story starts out with Camilo being born a prince to the magical Madrigal family. It was his fifth birthday and ceremony day. Things were going wonderfully as expected to be. Camilo was exploring his gift and having fun with his friends/family at the same time. Nothing could make this moment more perfect.

But…good things can never last. Right under the ruler's nose, a small but big group of Encanto’s citizens decided that today was the day to storm the castle and get rid of the madrigals. 

You see, at first there was a small rumor that went around. A rumor that instead of using Pedro’s Miracle, Alma was using witchcraft and managed to give her children gifts. Why would Pedro just give his family magic when everyone was forced to leave their home AND lost people they loved? 

That’s just downright selfish and Pedro was known as a good man in his life. Surely, he would have given everyone manage to give everyone magic right? So, Alma must be using witchcraft or keeping the magic all to herself.  And soon, this rumor turned into another rumor. A rumor that the Madrigals were soon going to use their powers against the good people of Encanto and make them their slaves. 

One thing led to another, and paranoia started rising amongst the people of Encanto. Selfish witches what they “are”. One day, a very jealous villager decided to pull a stunt on Isabela’s tenth birthday (a year before Camilo’s). A man who knew his way around smoke bombs,  disappearing acts, and makeup. 

Let’s just say he spouted a lot of nonsense but simultaneously striking a little bit of fear in people. Before guards could catch him he released a smoke bomb and disappeared without a trace. 

And now, on December 28th, 1780, El Castillo de los Madrigal was being raided by foul people. The guards could only keep so many people at bay before they burst through and were out for Madrigal blood.…So much happened that day. So much innocent blood shed and brutal harm given to those who didn’t deserve it. 

In the end…some Madrigals didn’t make it out alive. But after much fighting and blood spilling, the guards and many friends/distant relatives of the Madrigals, managed to kill or prison all those accountable for going against the queen. (But this took a whole lot of effort)

But…one child was unaccounted for…Camilo. No one could find him. They searched the castle and the village all over and…he just wasn’t there. Someone surely took him, and judging by what happened, he was surely killed and dumped somewhere by one of those hateful villagers. 

But in reality…he ran away. He was a five year old boy who didn’t understand what was going on, he just knew this was wrong and he was scared. And these weird scary looking people that he didn’t know were trying to catch him (and stranger danger wasn’t an unfamiliar thing in la casa madrigal).  The party had been going on outside of the castle (think of a large garden area). And the closest thing he could run to was the forest. So that’s where he went. He ran far, as far as he could. 

To the point where he slipped and fell into a fast deep river. The river led to a huge waterfall where he fell down and hit his head on a rock at the bottom. By the time he woke up…he was in an unfamiliar room and had no clue who he was. 

Camilo was adopted by a woman named Gabriela Alcarez. She has two daughters named Marcela and Emilia. Gabriela is a mix of  Lady Tremaine and Mother Gothel, and the daughters are obviously Anastasia and Drizella. Gabriela is 54, Marcela is eighteen, and Emilia is sixteen (both girls by two different men). 

Gabriella makes Camilo do all the housework; Dishes, mopping, sweeping, mending of clothes, making breakfast, lunch, and dinner. She has her own way of making Camilo think she’s making him do all of those things out of love. 

“Mi baby, you do all of these things so you can be a great husband one day. All men do these things out of love for their mothers, sisters, and wives. You do love us don’t you?”

She always buys the girls nice things and has Camilo make his own clothes. “A real man is resourceful” type bullsh!t. He’s also never allowed passed the mansion gates. 

“It’s too scary and people will do anything to get their hands on a resourceful boy like you” type bs as well. Not to mention she’ll make him think he’s “too ugly” to be seen out in the world. People will “laugh and throw things” at him. Why? He has a scar from the top of his forehead, across his right eye, and down to the tip of his jaw. 

He also has another scar on the left side of his scalp but it’s covered by hair. But why would she tell him he’s learning to be a husband but he’s too ugly to be seen by the public? 

“Don’t worry mijo, I’ll find a girl who’ll love you for your…other better qualities”

His room is in a literal tower. His sisters get a pretty big room with big windows while he gets a tight, cramped, room with a very small window. 

Even through all that, he still tries being himself and happy. He reads fairy tale books, shakespeare, paints, makes his own clothes from his sisters old dresses (think ragged boho and scrap patches). He’s still easy going and chill but his mischievous tendencies are suppressed to keep his mother and sisters happy. 

His room is very colorful though. Beautiful scenes of different fairy tales painted on the walls. 

Camilo does have a few pets. Two mice, a chicken, three horses, and a chameleon who he actively does talk to. (I mean, who else is he going to talk to? People? ). The mice are Dulce and Ricardo. The horses are Elena, Joaquin, and Andres. The chicken is Chickpea, and the chameleon is Princesa (reference to midcanto). 

Gabriella is fully aware that he’s a madrigal, that’s why she keeps him deep in the forest in her large family mansion. When it comes to occasional visitors, Camilo is told to either stay in his room or clean somewhere far enough in the mansion where the visitor(s) doesn’t see him. 

He is allowed outside but never passes the garden gates. It’s a long, wide, and pretty garden. Full of flowers of all types. There are specific ones that draw Cami to them, more so because of the colors. Magenta, green, orange, teal, dark navy blue, purple/pink, and red specifically. 

But don't most fairy tale books have evil stepmoms? Surely he would’ve figured this behavior isn’t normal. 

The boy only has the book of Mulan, Brave, the frog prince, The little mermaid, sleeping beauty, and others that don’t include evil stepmothers. Gabriella may be evil, but she isn’t stupid. She’s not going to give her servant ideas of revolt/rebellion through books of all things. 

The three women often go to fabulous balls while Camilo stays at home. The most he asks for is just the details; the dancing, gowns, food, people, etc. And all three of them tell him everything he wants to know, but it’s more like bragging or “I’ll tell you everything that YOU will never be able to do” kind of way. 

Gabriela told him that once he turns eighteen, he’ll be able to go out someday. But she knows he’ll never want to because of how “ugly” he is. He’s too dependent on her “love” because he thinks no one else will love him.

OC Updates

So for those who have been with me for awhile, you might remember my Descendants Original Characters!

For refresher we have:

Gabelle LeGume- the rough and tumble only daughter of Gaston and twin sister to Gil, just fighting to make it in a man’s world. She is in a relationship with Chad Charming, and is the leader of the G Gang

Holly Olympian- the sweet and spice daughter of Hades and best friend to Gabelle and sister to Hadie (and apparently half-sister to Mal), just trying to find her place. She is in a relationship with Audrey, and is Gabelle’s second in command.

Caine Frollo- the pathetic son of Claude Frollo who is just an annoyance to everyone on the Isle, he is a member of Ginny Gothels group, and is single.

Rochella Heart- If I’m being honest I don’t remember a lot about her character other than she was the daughter of the Queen of Hearts, was a member of Gabelle’s gang, and dated Clay Clayton-

Gabriella Charming- The sweet as sugar daughter of Cinderella and King Charming, and younger sister to Chad. As Princess of Cinderellasburg, she took it upon herself to show Gabelle the ropes of Princess-hood and along the way fell in love and began a relationship with Gil.

I’m scrapping a couple of them. Or at least thinking about it.

I’m thinking about getting rid of Rochella because honestly I didn’t do a lot with her anyways and I kinda just created her because I was in a OC-creating frenzy at the time. I think it says a lot that I genuinely don’t remember a lot about her character so I’m probably gonna yeet her right out the window.

I’m also thinking of getting rid of… Gabriella. I know- I know- put down the pitchforks and hear me out.

Gabriella might just get a full redesign instead of a full scrap. Just while I was going through my posts she was giving me pretty big Mary Sue vibes and I no longer like the fact that her and Chad (who are siblings) are both in relationships with another pair of siblings (Gil and Gabelle respectively).

I don’t like how similar her name is with Gabelle anymore. At the time I did because realistically there would be some name overlap but now it’s just confusing when I look back.

Gabelle might get a little redesign because I think I made her too overpowered strength-wise and I think maybe she’s a little too… idk, grouchy? But I’m still debating. Overall, her character will probably remain the same with minor changes.

And the same goes for Holly. Overall I like her, but she might get some minor changes.

I also might be thinking about doing a fanfiction with my OC’s so keep on the lookout for updates regarding that if anyone would like to read it 👀

when prince ben invited four children of the isle to come study at auradon, he never anticipated the trouble he was getting himself into. from fairy godmother’s wand nearly being stolen by maleficent, to him being abducted by a group of pirates. but, still, he wouldn’t have changed a thing.

it came as no shock that just a year later, he would open auradon’s doors to even more children of the isle. the long since banished children of villains were welcome, should they want to accept the invitation, to come and study at auradon prep. however, that came with a whole new slew of troubles.

Once Upon A Time Watch - Season 7

I DID IT. I FUCKING DID IT. I FINISHED.

Good Things:

Gonna say it right off the bat -- this season isn’t really good? But it’s also not bad. I had a good time watching it and personally, I think it’s stronger than seasons 5 and 6 were.

I love a lot of the new cast:

Rose Reynolds as Alice/Tilly

Also, I think it really helps the narrative to make Cinderella a woman of color while her stepfamily is white.

Drizella is the standout new character, and I love the twist that she cast the curse, not her mother. She has a very good and satisfying arc.

For the earlier episodes of the season, I actually like more of the focus on day to day events in Hyperion Heights, rather than grand epic magic. It’s something I missed about season 1 that I’m glad came back.

This season also struck a fairly decent balance between day to day events and grand magical schemes. Characters were woken and regained their memories slowly, until both plots could interweave into one story. It had a few missteps but for the most part worked fairly well.

Alice and Robin are adorable, and I really appreciate the writers letting a lesbian couple finally take the center stage, rather than only being implied (Mulan/Aurora) or only lasting a single episode (Ruby/Dorothy).

I like Tremaine being Rapunzel. That was a nice way to combine the stories. And I much prefer this Rapunzel to the random one-off Rapunzel in season 3.

Tremaine giving her life to save Lucy is a nice touch and a good end to her character. She had a pretty solid arc for the season that I enjoyed.

At first I hated Alice being Nook and Gothel’s daughter, but it’s growing on me. I think because it’s a similar situation to Robin and Zelena, where the woman became pregnant by pretending to be someone else and tricking the man (hey OUAT writers, that’s rape, please remember this), but instead of excusing Zelena they keep Gothel as the villain the whole time, and it’s made very clear that Gothel is not Alice’s mother in any way that matters. It’s also a really nice connection for Nook, since he doesn’t have the relationships with the rest of the cast the same as regular Hook.

I like the finale taking place in the Wish Realm, purely for the sake of all the cameos they can bring in. I wish they’d played that up a bit more, honestly.

Overall, I like Rumple’s ending and his sacrifice. He did the right thing fully believing that he wouldn’t get back to Belle, and that’s ultimately what got him his happy ending with her. Good shit, good shit.

I also like how the entire story turned into Regina’s redemption arc, going full circle from the Evil Queen to the Good Queen. It’s cheesy, but it’s nice.

Bad Things:

It’s really obvious that they only had a handful of the original actors at their disposal. Some characters are unceremoniously written out, while others are awkwardly shoehorned in. They get the hang of it eventually, striking a balance between the old and the new, but for a while the setup is very awkward.

The downtown Seattle setting just isn’t working for me. Storybrooke had a very distinct feel to the entire town, and its locations were almost like characters in and of themselves. Meanwhile Hyperion Heights is just a generic downtown area that doesn’t stand out from the rest of the city at all. Also, people can freely come and go... but only sometimes. It’s very unclear.

Alison Fernandez has little kid charm, for sure, but not enough to really carry the series the way she needs to. I just can’t get attached to her the way I got attached to little kid Henry -- though I think it’s more down to the writing than her performance. They don’t let her carry the story, it’s all wrapped up in the other characters.

While Andrew J. West perfectly captures Henry, he also highlights how dull of a character Henry really is. There’s nothing really distinct about his personality or anything to latch onto for the lead character.

Everything about Rumple this season.

I didn’t care for Rumple and Belle’s final episode with the silly Up montage. And it makes no sense that Rumple spends all those years with no idea how to get rid of the dagger, but then as soon as Belle dies he knows that he needs to find the Guardian. Why didn’t he do that decades ago? That was very unclear.

They also?? Don’t explain what the Guardian is?? Ever?? It’s yet another mysterious title they give to people without ever fucking explaining it. First Anastasia is one. Then for some reason, Alice is, and we’re never given any further info. It’s the multiple Saviors from season 6 all over again.

And then to top it all off, Rumple’s immortality is removed... with the Author’s Pen. You know, something he could have found ages ago. He’s a smart dude, he would have thought of that.

Honestly, Rumple has lost all of his presence and power. It’s like he’s background noise, and it’s a waste of Robert Carlyle.

There's too many competing villains in too short a span of time, and they keep trying to one up each other. Like it’s a twist, there was secretly an even bigger villain behind it all. It’s like matryoshka dolls, but with half-assed villains. And I don't like the chief one being Gothel. There’s nothing wrong with her, but she’s just not nearly as compelling as Tremaine, Drizella, or Facilier.

The repeated Dark Curses start to feel like a cop out, but Drizella managing it without crushing anyone’s heart is the biggest cop out of all.

Robin and Zelena's mother daughter squabbles are really forced and feel like something out of a bad Disney channel original movie.

Why the hell does the curse go back in time as well? It doesn’t add anything but confusion. Now it could have been really cool if they’d shown Henry’s phone conversation only from young Henry’s side in the premiere, and that’s what prompted him to wander the realms. They could have left the mystery of that for the entire season, making for a satisfying reveal. The way it was set up, it just seems odd. It’s like they realized last minute that they had a timeline error and hastily wrote this in to cover for it.

The finale’s big bad is Wish Realm Rumplestiltskin, which is... okay. But feels repetitive since we’ve been so used to Rumple for so long.

I... I don’t understand how Rumple’s sacrifice wound up killing the other Rumple. They didn’t explain that. It’s not like characters split with the Jekyll/Hyde serum, where that’s clearly established as a rule -- these are two different versions of the same character, I... I don’t... yeah, okay.

5: Guilty Pleasures

Gabelle: Gabelle secretly loves when she gets all dressed up because no one ever sees her in dresses and makeup so she always gets responses like ‘Gabelle you are so gorgeous!’ and that honestly just makes her feel good. 

Holly: Holly would never admit it, but she likes watching wrestling. A lot of this stems from hanging out at the Gaston house and watching the boys wrestle, but she wouldn’t ever admit it. 

Caine: His guilty pleasure would probably be pretending that he is living on the Isle, away from his life on the Isle. In his fantasy, he is an archdeacon much like the one seen in the movie; it isn’t surprising why this is a guilty pleasure. 

Rochella: Her guilty pleasure would have to be the fact that she actually likes herself without makeup or fancy outfits on. Don’t get her wrong, she feels bomb af with a full face of makeup all decked out, but she also likes the simple things in life. 

Gabriella: Surprisingly, Gabriella likes hearing about the VK’s lives on the Isle. Not because it’s like ‘haha you had a horrible life’ but more so she can understand them a little bit better, and how that even though their lives were terrible, they still managed to rise through it all. 

Elaine: Elaine’s guilty pleasure would have to be the fact that she watches kid shows even when her kids aren’t around, and she genuinely likes them. Her favorite is Little Einstines

Taryn: Taryn would die before she admitted this, but she likes reading the Fifty Shades of Grey books. She has all the books, studied them hardcore, and watched all the movies. She knows they aren’t accurate and aren’t even that good, but she just enjoys it. 

21. Turning Points in Their Lives

Gabelle: The obvious answer here is ‘going to Auradon’ but honestly, that isn’t what made her choose good over evil. It was joining the tourney team and eventually falling in love with Chad, it really made her see she was more than some guys future wife. 

Holly: The moment she discovered makeup and cute outfits were one of the best moments of her life, she really was able to express herself without getting into fights like the other Isle kids. It really made her happy too, which was a plus.

Caine: When he met Ginny Gothel and realized they both shared the same hatred for Gabelle, he knew in that moment he wasn’t alone anymore on the Isle. Sure they aren’t friends, but he has someone to stick up for him when the going gets tough. 

Rochella: When she overheard Yen Sid talking about the Anti-Hero League, she was immediately drawn in. It sounded just right for her- not necessarily good, but also not evil. A happy medium. She really felt like a puzzle piece that fit right in. 

Gabriella: Meeting Gil and realizing that she doesn’t need to be all goodie two shoes all the time, she’s had a lot more fun since meeting Gil and the others, and she wouldn’t trade it for anything. She has more of a backbone now and isn’t as much of a pushover. 

Elaine: Walking in on Richard and her ex-best friend Lily having sex. She knew he was unfaithful to her, but before that moment she wanted to stick it out for the kids. But after she saw that…she was done. She got the nerve to divorce him and move to DC where she met a man who she is proud to call the (step) father of her children.

Taryn: The moment she decided to walk into that police office and rat her father out for dealing drugs, she knew her life would never be the same. Because of that one day, she spends her days rescuing those from the hands of pure evil…and if she had the choice, she’d do it again.

Thirty Day OC Challenge

Day Five— Friends: Does your OC have any friends? Do they belong to a friend group? What do they do with their friends?

Gabelle: Gabelle has a decent amount of friends, her best friends are Holly, Hadie, and Gabriella though. And while she loves her boyfriend Chad, she doesn’t want to put him on the same level as a ‘friend’ so she doesn’t consider him as a ‘friend’.

Holly: Holly is friends with most people at Auradon Prep! She’s friends with all the cheerleaders. But her best friend is Gabelle through and through. And like Gabelle, she loves her girlfriend Audrey, but doesn’t want to put her on the same level as any old ‘friend’.

Caine: Caine doesn’t really have any friends due to his irritating personality, but he does have people he gets along with better than others! A lot of the ‘sidekicks’ he gets along with. He also has formed a bit of a friendship with Ginny Gothel due to their shared dislike of Gabelle. (BUUUUT that’s a whole ‘nother story)

Rochella: Eh, her real only ‘friend’ is her boyfriend, Clay. Other than that all her friends left for Auradon. She gets along okay with the Anti-Hero Club, but she wouldn’t call them friends. 

Gabriella: Gabriella is the person who literally has never met a stranger. She is friends with almost everyone she meets instantly, she’s just so friendly and bubbly that it’s hard for anyone to dislike her. But her best friends would have to be Gabelle and Jane.

30 Day OC Challenge

Day Twelve— Argument: Your OC gets into an argument with somebody. Is it somebody they know well? Does this happen a lot? Do they get angry or do they remain calm?

Gabelle: Gabelle gets into arguments a lot-both on the Isle and in Auradon. On the Isle usually, it’s typically Ginny Gothel, she has a long-standing feud with her, so they fight (both physically and verbally) often. In Auradon it’s more people she doesn’t know but hears them say shit that pisses her off. And as far as if she’s angry or calm, again it depends. With Ginny she’ll remain calm, she knows how to handle Gothel. In Auradon she’ll get angry. 

Holly: Holly doesn’t really get into arguments much, she tries to avoid them in Auradon. But on the Isle she’ll typically fight alongside Gabelle against Ginny or whoever decides to mess with them. Other than that she doesn’t really get into her own arguments, although when she does you bet she’ll get angry- fire hair and all. 

Caine: Caine gets into arguments a lot. Like...he averages one a day. Simply because he doesn’t know how to keep his mouth shut and he’ll do that to the wrong person which will cause a punch to get thrown (him on the receiving end). Caine typically will get angry when he gets into a fight, which will cause him to storm off. 

Rochella: She only gets into fights with her mother, other than that no one is really worth her time or energy. On occasion, she’ll argue with Clay, but those are short lasting since they’ll come to some sort of agreement. But she’ll get angry most of the time when she argues unless she knows she’s in the right and then she’ll remain calm. 

Gabriella: Gabriella hates arguing with people so she tries to not do it often if she disagrees with someone she’ll typically walk away unless it’s something major and then she’ll say something. But she’ll get tongue tied and trip over herself which will cause her to get flustered, so she’ll have someone else come over to help her argue. She just can’t do it.

Day Thirteen— Fist Fight: Your OC is challenged to a fist fight! Who would do this? How would your OC react? If accepted the challenge, who would win? If they declined, how would they get away?

(I have been waiting for this one since I started yes)

Gabelle: Gabelle lives for fist fights. That was how she survived. It’s a rush to punch someone so hard their teeth out-she’ll fight with anyone. She’s hit just about everyone on the Isle once, but she’s only ever actually brawled with a few people since few are conscious after that first punch. Ginny Gothel and Caine are the main people whom she throws punches with. She fought with her ex-boyfriend Anthony Tremaine a few times once she learned he cheated on her with Harriet Hook, also. Gabelle does not lose fist fights- it’s not who she is. She has only lost one fight her whole life, and that was against Gaston Jr. and Gaston the Third simply because they tag teamed her. 

Holly: Holly does not like to fist fight, and has only ever done it on the Isle. She’ll stand by Gabelle and fight with her against Ginny and Ginny’s group, but she isn’t good at fist fighting. She’s more good at manipulation- her brother is the muscle. Typically her and her brother work together when they’re fighting someone, she’ll trick them and Hadie will punch them. As far as a one on one fight, Holly would definitely lose without some sort of muscle there with her. But most likely she would decline any fight that didn’t allow her to have her friend fight with her, to which she’d claim she’d fight that person at a later date and never show up. 

Caine: Everyone on the Isle has ‘challenged’ Caine to a fist fight at least once, and by ‘challenge’ I mean they got fed up with him so they started punching him, to which Caine knows enough defensive tactics to get himself defended, but then he would bolt the moment he got the chance. Caine is not a fighter and loses every fight he has ever been in. Whenever he fought Gabelle with Ginny, he typically would be knocked out early in the fight. 

Rochella: Rochella doesn’t do fist fights, but she can hold her own well enough to protect herself until she got some sort of backup. Rochella is much like Holly in the fact that she’ll manipulate whoever is fighting her, usually with flirtation, and then once they’re distracted then she’ll come in for the kill. While she doesn’t like to fist fight, she is good at it. She knows where to aim and how to punch without breaking her hand, but she prefers not to. 

Gabriella: Poor, sweet, Gabriella. Someone challenges her and she’s running for the hills to hide. She’d end up panicking, running to Gil and Gabelle sobbing because why would someone want to fight her? She’s a princess! She doesn’t fight! What did she do wrong? So she’d end up having Gil and/or Gabelle take her place and fight for her since she would literally die if anyone other than a one-year-old hit her.
