but ahaha mariko has put zabuza in a v awkward position bc through her he's tied himself and kiri to konoha. like, can kiri make it just fine w/o konoha? ofc, but ppl are gonna start side-eyeing him bc. well. ninja who tried to kill the mizukage, defected, and then helped lead a revolution against village leadership? in a village that had previously executed its country's daimyo--nominally the power over the village? ppl are going to be wondering if he instigated mariko. WE know he didn't, and we know zabuza would probably personally agree w her actions, but he's the mizukage and has to take all factors into acct and act for the good of the village--and water country, now that there's no daimyo--as a whole.

see because the most insane thing about malevolent part 1 is the song that plays right as it starts:

“i can’t forget the night i met you. that’s all i’m dreaming of. and you call it madness, ah, but i call it love.”

and then it immediately cuts to when arthur wakes up and starts talking to john. i’m so.

the crazy thing is that malevolent really seems like it's gonna be one of those "there's nothing actually special about this guy, he just has very bad luck." stories but no. there IS something special about that guy. there's a REASON this is happening to him. this story could NOT have happened to anyone else the way it did to him. somehow, for some reason, arthur lester is special. and even more absurdly, this specific version of arthur lester is special. that's insane.

so much of the horror genre is all about how these things could happen to anyone, but malevolent wants you to explicitly know that arthur lester is important. arthur lester is the reason this story is happening. arthur lester is different, in some strange way that even he doesn't fully understand.

and that's what makes him the main character, not just the protagonist.

I just finished listening to the magnus archives for the first time. i don't draw often, but this damn podcast has me in a chokehold so I'm trying out doing a poster for episode 165

I'll probably work on it off and on for a while, it won't be finished anytime soon cause I'm both slow at drawing and have not done any art in a long time and need to learn new skills :3

I'm not the first person to say this, but there really is something groundbreaking about the lack of romantic plotlines in Wolf 359.

Wolf 359 is a story aimed at and about adults. It's partly about what it means to be human. It's partly about how we exist in relation to other people. It's partly about interpersonal connection and understanding. It has character relationships at its heart. It features so many moments of love and care between characters. It takes place across just over two years of the characters' lives, with 61 episodes and a main cast that grows to a decent size.

And despite all this, the show doesn't feature a single canonical 'on-screen' romantic (or sexual) relationship. Perhaps that shouldn't be as rare as it is, but it's one of the many things that makes Wolf 359 special to me.

What are your thoughts and headcanons? Do you have thoughts on how the boys tend to approach assigning beds in inns? Who do the chain choose to sleep near when camping and why? What are their dynamics like when settling down for the night and getting ready for the day?

In "Mirror Vs Open Closet Door: Fight!" by Gintrinsic (here) Four refers to the chain's decision on how to split up between inn rooms as the "Link-per-room ratio" which I find very funny. He, Sky, and Time also talk about their thought process behind why they do or don't want to sleep in a room with some of the others which I find fun and interesting.
