The constant barrage of horrific world news combined with the international mixing bowl of online forums has combined into a toxic blend of blame, and we need some perspective.
Every time news of a new human rights violation arises, people in online spaces rush to share it, to demonstrate their outrage. This inevitably leads others to pipe up with something like: "Well, what about [other ongoing atrocity]? I bet you've forgotten!!" Or "How can you talk about [persecuted group] when [other persecuted group] is suffering?"
In their indignation and rush to judgment, folks in online spaces forget a couple of key facts.
1. The people of a given country or region are not their government. Even if the Russian government is still committing war crimes in Ukraine, we are allowed to feel for Russian LGBTQ+ people who have been declared enemies of the state. Even if Israel's government is still committing war crimes in Palestine, we are still allowed to feel for the families of Israelis killed by Hamas and anyone working for peace who is caught in the crossfire. Even if America's leaders are aiding and abetting crimes against humanity abroad, we are still allowed to feel for the people there who are literally enslaved in the prison industrial complex or who die of manageable diseases because they cannot pay for healthcare.
"X people deserve what they get, because look what their country is doing elsewhere." With no due respect, no the fuck they do not. The bald-faced audacity of sitting on high and condemning all citizens of "colonizer nations" or "communist countries" or "dictatorships" or "late-stage capitalist hellscapes" to death because of decisions made by a dictator or a king or a group of oligarchs or billionaires.
"Your country did x so you're not allowed to voice your suffering. You have to minimize it. You are undeserving of empathy because of your nationality." Do you understand how sociopathic that sounds? Unless you allow yourself to sit with the cognitive dissonance of "a government - even a more-or-less democratic one - can still do things considered objectionable by some or most of its citizens," you run the risk of falling prey to black-and-white fascist thinking.
And along those lines,
2. It is impossible for any person or group to maintain the same level of outrage at foreign OR domestic atrocities indefinitely. It's paralyzing; we would be incapable of living our lives. But that doesn't mean people have forgotten. The structure of online spaces makes it all too easy to assume because sharing of news has died down that the world has forgotten about a particular instance of suffering. Then you get the inevitable "How can people think about y while x is happening?" Just as the body begins to break down under constant inflammation, the mind begins to break down under a constant barrage of sorrow and suffering. We cannot wake up and go through a mental list of atrocities every day to ensure we give each its due solemn weight. They ALL have weight, but to expect that is to wish everyone so incapacitated that they can't do anything about any of the atrocities. We do all sometimes need to focus on personal, interpersonal, or domestic suffering, during which period the performative outrage over other suffering diminishes.
Stop judging people's character by their online behavior. Or, even more accurately, accept that online behavior mirrors real life in that it is inconsistent. Because humans are inconsistent and need to take time to address issues that aren't globally visible for their own self-preservation.
All people cannot be occupied with all issues simultaneously; it's paralyzing. Use your own suffering to find empathy for the struggles of others, or else we are all lost.

Take a good look at the countries leading/have started the legal battles to hold the IOF accountable -their fights to end IOF terrorism and war crimes, as this should have been done months ago, are now beginning.
So many Palestinian people have been genocided, and the rampant global government inaction has caused chaos, death, and destruction of Gaza... I just hope this leads to a permanent ceasefire and an end to the occupation. I truly do.

How Global Events Shape Trading Strategies: A Deep Dive
In the world of trading, global events play a crucial role in shaping strategies and influencing market movements. Whether it's a political change, economic shift, or natural disaster, these events can have significant impacts on the financial markets. Understanding how these events affect trading strategies can help traders make better decisions and manage risks more effectively.
Tumblr media
1. Economic Indicators and Reports
Economic indicators such as GDP growth, unemployment rates, and inflation reports provide valuable insights into a country’s economic health. Traders closely watch these reports to adjust their strategies. For example, a strong jobs report might lead traders to invest more in stocks, expecting economic growth to boost company profits. Conversely, weak economic data might prompt a shift towards safer investments like bonds.
2. Political Events
Political events, including elections, policy changes, and geopolitical tensions, can cause market volatility. For instance, an election outcome that signals economic reforms might drive market optimism, while political instability might lead to uncertainty and market downturns. Traders need to stay informed about political developments and be prepared to adjust their strategies based on potential market reactions.
3. Natural Disasters
Natural disasters such as hurricanes, earthquakes, or floods can disrupt supply chains and impact various industries. Traders often adjust their strategies to account for these disruptions. For example, a hurricane affecting oil production might lead to higher oil prices, prompting traders to consider energy stocks or commodities in their portfolio.
4. International Trade Policies
Changes in international trade policies, such as tariffs or trade agreements, can influence global trade and market dynamics. Traders need to analyze how these policies affect different sectors and adjust their strategies accordingly. For example, a new trade agreement might benefit companies with international operations, while tariffs might negatively impact industries reliant on imports.
5. Technological Advancements
Technological advancements can also shape trading strategies. Innovations like blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI) are transforming financial markets. Traders might use AI tools for predictive analytics or blockchain for secure transactions. Staying updated on technological trends helps traders leverage new tools and adapt their strategies.
6. Market Sentiment and Media
Media coverage and public sentiment can drive market movements. Positive news about a company or sector can lead to increased investment, while negative news might cause a sell-off. Traders often monitor news sources and social media to gauge market sentiment and make informed trading decisions.
7. Central Bank Policies
Central banks play a critical role in influencing financial markets through their monetary policies. Decisions related to interest rates and monetary supply can impact currency values and investment flows. Traders watch central bank announcements closely to adjust their strategies based on anticipated changes in monetary policy.
8. Global Health Crises
Global health crises, such as pandemics, can have profound effects on markets. The COVID-19 pandemic, for instance, caused significant market volatility and shifted trading strategies towards sectors like healthcare and technology. Traders need to be adaptable and consider how health crises might affect different industries and economies.
Conclusion
Global events are a major factor in shaping trading strategies. By staying informed about economic indicators, political events, natural disasters, trade policies, technological advancements, media sentiment, central bank actions, and health crises, traders can make more informed decisions and navigate market fluctuations more effectively. Adapting strategies in response to these global events helps traders manage risks and seize opportunities in a dynamic financial environment. more info Visit: https://proinvestideas.com/impact-of-global-events-on-trading/

I don't know what is about this book. I kinda love it, but also it's fucking annoying. Like.....I don't know if this is a thing other people do, but for the first time in a long time I am YELLING at the people -- characters? -- in the book. And lemme just say, I am firmly on the Adamaneses' side -- the Jarawas, the Onges, and the Sentinelese, I am on THEIR side.
Cause these people are talking about being attacked by the Jarawa like they don't know WHY it's happening. Then you find out that they're encroaching on virgin forests -- untouched forests where the Jarawa and these people live -- taking the food that the natives rely on for themselves, spreading diseases, and shooting blanks at people, scaring the fuck out of people. And you can't figure the fuck out WHY these people want to kill you?
You are in THEIR house, okay?

France at war with Moroccan tomatoes
Moroccan tomatoes have been under attack in Europe in recent months. Last January, French farmers burnt batches of this Moroccan product and in recent days similar scenes have been reported in Spain. Due to water shortages and pressure from European farmers, the Moroccan tomato industry is in decline, French media reported.
European farmers denounce competition from Morocco, whose tomato exports are steadily increasing. The association of French tomato and cucumber producers noted:
In the 2022-2023 season, 424,690 tonnes of Moroccan tomatoes were imported into France compared to 394,740 tonnes in 2021-2022, an increase of more than 7%. In value terms, this increase totalled more than 168 million euros, or 27.5%.
Under the free trade agreement signed with the European Union in 2012, Morocco has a quota to export 285,000 tonnes of tomatoes to the EU market between October and May, and enjoys a 60 per cent reduction in customs duties.
French growers are demanding a review of this agreement and the quota granted to Morocco, which they believe is not true. In particular, they refer to the UK’s exit from the EU (Brexit), a country that used to import almost 45,000 tonnes of Moroccan tomatoes per year. Meanwhile, Moroccan exports continue to grow. Moroccan tomatoes have flooded the French market. Currently, 6 out of every 10 tomatoes consumed in France come from Morocco. This state of affairs is due to the high growth rates in the kingdom. A grower in Agadir told Le Monde in February:
A hectare that used to yield an average of 300kg a day is yielding more than a tonne this season.

Why You'll Need an Interpreter for Your Conference in Malaysia?
Discover whether hiring an interpreter is essential for your conference in Malaysia, considering the country's linguistic diversity and the needs of your attendees. Optimize communication and inclusivity for a successful event.
Tumblr media
Are you considering organizing a conference in Malaysia? One of the first questions that may come to mind is whether you need an interpreter for your event, considering that English is widely spoken in the country. While it's true that English is a commonly used language in Malaysia, the need for an interpreter ultimately depends on various factors, including the demographics of your attendees, the complexity of the subject matter, and the level of language proficiency required for effective communication.
First and foremost, it's essential to recognize Malaysia's multicultural and multilingual society. While English serves as the primary language of business, education, and government, it coexists alongside Malay (Bahasa Malaysia), Chinese dialects (such as Mandarin and Cantonese), and Indian languages (such as Tamil and Hindi). Additionally, Malaysia is home to a significant expatriate population, with individuals from diverse linguistic backgrounds residing and working in the country.
In light of this linguistic diversity, the decision to hire an interpreter in Malaysia for your conference should be guided by the needs and preferences of your attendees. If your event attracts participants from various linguistic backgrounds or if the content of your conference requires specialized terminology or technical jargon, having an interpreter can enhance comprehension and ensure that all attendees can fully engage with the presentations and discussions.
Furthermore, an interpreter can facilitate seamless communication and bridge any language barriers that may arise during Q&A sessions, panel discussions, or networking opportunities. By providing interpretation services, you demonstrate inclusivity and accommodation for attendees who may not be fluent in English or who prefer to receive information in their native language.
Moreover, even for participants who are proficient in English, having the option of interpretation can still be beneficial, especially if the conference covers complex or nuanced topics where precise understanding is crucial. By offering interpretation services, you ensure that all attendees have equal access to information and can fully participate in the conference proceedings.
Ultimately, while English proficiency is widespread in Malaysia, the decision to hire an interpreter for your conference should be based on the specific needs and demographics of your audience, as well as the nature of the content being presented. By carefully considering these factors, you can ensure that your conference is accessible, engaging, and inclusive for all attendees, regardless of their linguistic background or proficiency.

"If a pig catches both a human influenza A virus and an avian influenza A virus at the same time, it can spark a process known as viral reassortment — a genetic exchange in which flu viruses swap gene segments." "Those swaps can introduce dramatic changes, producing a new virus with certain properties of a non-human strain coupled with the capacity to infect and spread between people." "The death rate in humans may be upwards of 50 per cent, World Health Organization data suggests, though it's possible that milder infections are getting missed, skewing the case fatality ratio. Still, in a population that's never been exposed, the global impacts could be dire." "More human cases could also be happening under the radar among farm workers who've moved to the U.S. from abroad, don't speak English as their first language, and may be hesitant to seek medical help, he added." "So I think there's probably underreporting on both sides," Armstrong said." "If [H5N1] gets into a population where there's constantly animals going in and out … it might not ever leave."
I've been watching this develop for the past several days, and apart from being terrified most people will not take this seriously (I've seen a handful of people already shout conspiracy on social media and it's alarming to see, as always). What I wanted to point out is that pandemics are going to continue to be our 'normal.' I watched a great video on YouTube a while ago (I believe it was by Vice?) that touched base on how this is going to become our new reality because of multiple factors (such as our proximity to animals, and environments/etc). It was when Covid hit and they did a piece debunking some of the misinformation floating on the internet. If I can find it I will post it here because it was informative and relevant to pretty much any world crisis we will see around any virus that spreads among a human population.
This post isn't trying to fear monger anyone, I just hope more people are aware of what is happening because this is important to talk about. There are already cases (of cows getting this bird flu) in the US, and I won't be surprised if there will be instances in more countries around the world. As usual, keep washing your hands/keeping good hygiene practices, masking up (and if you aren't I hope you consider it), and taking precautions if you do happen to visit/work or go near a pig or poultry farm too:
I'll keep track of this here of course, but please stay informed folks. And also FU to any governments who will try to minimize this or try to diminish the severity until it's too late and community spread happens like Covid because their actions are influenced by capitalistic interests.
Update (April 7th, 2024, 9:32pm EST): to anyone wondering where some of the source information originates from -here is a link to the CDC. They are tracking documented avian virus outbreaks in the US and the public can access it here:
