#GIVE HER MORE SHOWS GMM

My updated GMMTV 2024 lineup in order of my preference: (these are only the QLs. Most of the het shows fall under my Indifferent category. If I feel like it, I'll watch them.)

Revamp. Previously: The Vampire Project. Love me some vampires <3. Also, BounPrem.

Sweeth Tooth, Good Dentist. The plot sounds super fluffy and cheesy, so of course I'm in. And no way I'm missing Mark Pakin first lead. (Also, as a dessert-loving person who had many teeth-related problems as a kid, the premise just sounds too relatable. Except the falling in love part with your dentist obviously.) But... JittiRain. I have complicated feelings for her works.

Us the series. You might ask how a GL ended up so low in my list. Personally, it's a bit jarring to see BLs have this safe space/bubble for their gay bois, but GLs are proclaiming love between women as "taboo" off the bat. I also saw this in 23.5, and yeah okay I get it, wlw is seen in a much harsher eye sometimes, but in 23.5 all Ongsa did was go on repeating "But we're both girls..." without explaining the why and resolving it properly. For now, I will not think too much into it, and worry about it when the time comes.

Finished Airing:

We Are. It's absolutely great for my tastes and I get to detox once every week. Love it. Has absolutely no plot but has loads of fluff, and it's something I didn't know I needed in my life until I had it. It's one of my favourite BLs ever, and it's definitely going on my comfort shows and re-watch list. It will forever live on in my memory. I definitely keep coming back to this. Very high on my list and my #1 comfort show.

Only Boo. I kinda like it, but I have zero idea where they plan to go with the current storyline. Fluffy and cute, I'll keep watching, but it probably won't end up high on my favourites list. I'm behind on a couple of episodes (I'll catch up before ep. 12, no worries) and I was right. I do like it. It's something new, and I'd like GMM to explore this more, but it's not ending up very high on my favourites list.

Wandee Goodday. My favourite fake boyfriends with benefits! I'm behind a couple episodes with this too (sorry, my brain has been a little too obsessed with We Are T~T) but overall, I really like it. It's P'Golf, so I never had any doubts, but I do worry a little about the angst. It's bearable till now, so fingers crossed. I really like it! College has reopened, so I'm behind on the last two episodes, but I'm hoping I'll be able to complete it by this week. Final update: I've finished Wandee Goodday! All around, it's a very good BL. It dared to explore, and I'm impressed. Top 20 BLs.

My Love Mix Up! Thailand. I'm still skeptical, not gonna lie. But it's GemFourth. And I didn't feel much about the first few eps of MSP either, and look what happened with that. I still don't know how hard the original will clash with Thai BL's specific style, but I'm willing to take the chance. Please don't disappoint me. I like where this is going. They are so cute and lovely, and that high school vibe is evident. All I need now is for ep 11 curse to not happen. (From what happened in MSP, I think there will be some sort of conflict in the last ep, but as long as I don't have to wait one whole week for it to get resolved, I'm okay with it.) It landed a little wobbly, still quite better off than some other gmmtv series this year though *side eyes The Trainee* so I'll give it a solid 7.5 (I mark like every single point costs me though, so a series might be a tiny bit better than I rate it). Could it have been better? Well, yes. Was it enjoyable? Yep.

The Trainee. Well, it's OffGun's usual tsundere seme/innocent uke. Office romance though- that's new. I guess they finally graduated from university 😭😂 I don't feel anything about it right now, but let's see what happens when it starts airing. Rating changed. It's only been four episodes (and I missed today, that is ep 4, because I have college early tomorrow) but I like where this is going. I think it's going to be the typical 5-7 romance ep pattern, but as long as they don't bring back the ep 11 curse, it's all good. Rating changed again. I- I don't know what to say. I've already said everything in this post. They did something worse to this than make it bad; they made it mediocre. I feel like I was watching Tae and Bamhee get their shit together just to stuff all that progress down the drain willingly and got teeny tiny glimpses of JaneRyan in the background. It was downhill from ep 5 or 6 and I was really hoping they would save it last minute, but nope. It hit rock bottom and kept going. It became a bit painful to watch, honestly. I'll leave the rating to y'all.

Peaceful Property. After TayNew outdid themselves in the beautiful soft little thing that was Cherry Magic Thailand (anyone wanna join my Cherry Magic Th propaganda?), I can't wait for this series. Also: if they give me besties, it'll be a hard pill to swallow but I'll be fine, but if they give me bromance, I'll commit homicide. This series is making permanent changes to my brain. ffs, I'll even take bromance that's how much I'm loving it. It's also very sociological, and holds up a not-so-subtle commentary on class difference and oppression so bonus points. For now I'm finding it absolutely *chef's kiss*. Will it finally pull me up from the dump I'm in? Well, I really hope so. It was a mess but I loved it.

Kidnap. I'll be honest, I'd almost completely forgotten about this series until the trailer popped up. I'm quite a few eps behind, but I think, personally, it will probably end up somewhere in my top 25. I'm SO behind on this, I'll update when I catch up T-T

Pluto the series. A GL? With NamtanFilm? I'm in. Honestly though, I really am liking this and I'd love for GMMTV to land this properly. I love Ai-oon so much. Also, what in the Not Me- 😭 I have a few problems with it, but otherwise it really is an amazing series, and I'd definitely recommend giving it a watch.

Currently Airing:

The Heart Killers. Pretty sure this is #1 on most of y'alls lists and for good reason too. My reasons? Pretty simple. I love action, mafia and romcom and this is all in one. And also FirstKhao and JoongDunk so- I have no idea what's happening, I'm just here for the ride <3 I still have no idea what's happening, but gods is the ride wild.

Perfect 10 liners. What put me off in the trailer itself is the clear discrimination based on looks/physical appearances. It also seems like at this point they're just trying to give each pairing some screen time this year but have run out of plots, and are thus shoving pairings into series like it's the metro/tube/subway/whatever you call it in your country during rush hour. Will I like it? We'll see. After New Siwaj gave me the masterpiece that is We Are, and crushed my doubts like mosquitoes, I'm willing to give Perfect 10 Liners a good strong chance. The premise still bothers me a bit, but I'm keeping an open mind. This is giving me We are nostalgia and I'm mostly watching just for the comedy and the PondSand crumbs. The main couple is meh though, I can't wait for ep 9. I absolutely adore YothaGun and I'm actively looking forward to the next episode.

ThamePo/Heart That Skips A Beat. It seems soft and sweet, though it does have the secret/forbidden relationship overtones. It is soft and sweet, but it also so real, heartbreakingly so. I love it. I docked a point out of pure pettiness because it made me cry in the very first episode. If it can make me (grudgingly) make me give that point back, I will give it a place in my Sacred 8. Peace and love in this world.

Ossan's Love. I found the trailer hilarious, but trailers, especially pilot trailers lie. Also, I'm not hearing the greatest things about the original, but I haven't watched it so I will reserve judgement. If I like it I'll like it I guess. It's so fun (gleefully). I love it. It's just been one episode, but I know this will be wonderful (or a flop of epic proportions). This is peak comedy and I am here for it.

i've always knew gmm has some of the best actresses in their line up. personally, and at least when it comes to qls, i would say they have the best female performers and that became clear to me in 23.5 when i saw milk acting, when i had only ever seen her in bad buddy as ink, and there wasn't much space for her in there, but as ongsa, she really showed what she's capable of. same thing with love, though i had glimpses of her in home school, and ciize who we always see as the funny best friend of gay friends. i don't think i even need to mention view who was fabulous as aylin and won everyone's hearts, too. and even godji who we often see playing cameos or joke characters, and as teacher nida, she just shinned.

i'm really glad we're getting more gls from gmm because these is their chance to showcase how amazing their actresses are. i think that both in pluto and 23.5, both casts talked about how nice it was to be on set where the majority of the cast is female, and just the other day i saw the pluto bts where film asked for namtan so she could get in the mood for an emotional scene and they didn't even need to say a word. she just looked at namtan and just like that, she was into it. these women know their craft and they trust each other.

i want them to get so many awards for their performances bc it's 100% well deserved. they are amazing in this show. and though they've had many scenes that were amazing acting wise, that last scene with may and oon, where they are both crying so much and genuinely sobbing stuck with me the most, too. that was something. i have the impression they weren't supposed to cry as much, but namtanfilm remind me of firstkhao in that aspect, especially when they were in the eclipse, where they couldn't hold back tears if the other one was crying. emotions flows and transfers to the other that easy (and i must say, too, as someone who enjoys both gls and bls, my dream would be to have these four in a project together, but i know for a fact the fandom experience would be hell).

this episode was a lot indeed. i also don't think i have a lot to say other than they made me feel a lot of things.

though i have to say, as someone who also has siblings, i was disappointed at oom's lack of insistence with oon. "oh, but she just woke up from a coma," honey, that's no excuse to not beat your sibling's ass. you're confused and need answers, annoy your older sibling like your life depends on it.

i have a mad crush on oom. idk what that says about me exactly, but maybe i'm attracted to the mean and dangerous types (see our brief conversation about gen). that woman is so pretty regardless if she's at home chilling or going out seeking for answers with her bestie. and namtan has two different types of beauties when playing the twins, it's actually crazy. i love her and i hope she gets many awards for her portrayal of ai-oon and ob-oom.

i really missed seeing throuple shenanigans this episode, too. i thought we'd get them at some point in part 3, but they didn't make it. which only brings me to the conclusion that the pang kissing pim while jan watches will happen next episode bc i can't see them pulling that off in the last episode of the show (though i'd be down for that, i mean, i wish i could see their reactions when they watch it with fans for the last ep fm)

Ciize Rutricha as Prue Halliwell

Prue doesn't die in our Yuri version of Charmed OR if she does, it certainly won't be permanent or for very long, we've got magic for heaven's sake. She gets to meet Paige and be the older sister we know and love! Ciize sold me on her ability to play an older sibling with her emotional scene in 23.5. I loved Prue and Andy in the show, so they'll be the pair I put together in my GL world. Same death rules apply to Andy! No exceptions!

Milk Pansa as Piper Halliwell

Piper was always my favorite of the sisters. The middle child with so much responsibility on her shoulders. Milk would EAT. Piper and Leo were the staple couple of the show and they'll remain the same in this version💚 Be still my MuvMuv heart.

June Wanwimol as Phoebe Halliwell

June was the first actress I thought of for this. I think she'd be the perfect fit for Phoebe. Our first divergence from endgame show-canon relationships. I think almost everyone who saw Charmed was rooting for Phoebe and Cole. Well in Charmed Yuri, they end up together. Sorry, not sorry, Coop. After all, "You're not really one of us until you've dated a demon." 

Film Rachanun as Paige Matthews

Paige! Welcome to the power of FOUR! My show, my rules lol Film felt like a no brainer for this, as well. She can bring that unique dichotomy of innocent and badass that exists within the character. We're going to take some liberties with her pair in the show, too. We already have a witch-human love story with Prue. I'm going to give Paige a different relationship dynamic! Sorry Henry. It's nothing against you, I swear!

Kapook Ploynira as Andy Trudeau

I haven't really seen Kapook in anything, but I thought her and Ciize made a cute looking pair. I'm trusting GMM's call on this one. I have a soft spot for high school sweethearts and first loves. Andy and Prue were so good together and Andy won't die! They will get their happy ending if I have anything to say about it!

Love Pattranite as Leo Wyatt

Everyone's favorite whitelighter! The love of Piper's life. "I have to lose you to save you." Come on! They were relationship goals. They had ups and downs, but they never gave up on each other. Love as Leo? No question! MilkLove would knock this dynamic out of the park!

View Benyapa as Cole Turner

I think it'd be fun to see View take on a villain turned love interest. She and June have so much potential! I need more of it. In my world, Cole stays redeemed! None of this Source of All Evil business and doing terrible things to Phoebe. They are a demon-witch power couple on the side of good, kicking ass and loving each other the right way!

Namtan Tipnaree as Richard Montana

Ha ha! I bet you all forgot about Paige and Richard. I actually really liked where the show was going with them. There was a lot of untapped potential. Namtan would nail the psychology and emotion of a character resisting temptation while being in a relationship with someone who uses magic when she can't for fear of losing control. Succumbing to the temptation, finding a balance, stripping powers? There's so many ways this can go and have it be an important part of their relationship with Paige. This way we get a witch-witch love story, too.

Did something happen in Mythical this week?

Last Monday I made a quick post about how Rhett seemed to be in a foul mood. To me he looked either angry or sick and very irritable due to his sickness. He looked a little reddened and sullen in the beginning of the episode but he very slowly eased in all the way to GMMore. His aggressiveness seemed a little disproportionate to each situation, like how he responded to his advantage being Link throwing his dart, and Link took note of that. Link was also moody, although not as much or as evidently as Rhett. Rhett seemed to be somewhat snappy towards both Link and Stevie.

On Tuesday the off vibes continued. They both look somewhat irritable again but they try to force enthusiasm. They progressively get heated and excited over opening the Disney blind boxes, or they pretend to, which alleviates the situation. In the end, Link chooses to ask Rhett: "Where do you think we 'd have been without these blind boxes?". Rhett replies: "We would have quit". In the GMMore Rhett picks at Link for various minor reasons. Link doesn't respond much but it seems off putting to him.

On Wednesday they do an episode which heavily features Jordan throughout. Towards the end Link says he won't contribute to deciding which Taco Bell restaurant is the best. Rhett looks at Stevie and pointedly says "It's his new motto. 'I am not contributing'". Link immediately asserts his statement by adding: "Know when you are not needed".

On the same day's GMMore they play TikTok games. Before starting, Link starts a joke about Stevie supposedly not wanting to be there that day and Rhett adds to it. They both jokingly thank her for making the decision to show up every day. Stevie does not comment on the joke. Later, they play the fish size comparison game and they accidentally pick same sized fish twice in a row. Rhett tells Link pointedly again: "See, this is teamwork. Teamwork, bro!". Link immediately responds that he is the one doing the hard job because he is the one that has to pull an equally sized fish after Rhett has picked his own. Now Rhett however looks more eager to get in a better mood and alleviate the situation and teases Link that he will have to make him dinner if he loses in the balloon game. Link is a little torn - he remains moodier than Rhett but also is subtly amused by Rhett's teasing. Playing together improves their moods and interaction - like children!

On Thursday and Friday things look better, although they still aren't as natural as in other weeks. We can't know whether these episodes were filmed in the same or different days but it is probable that the first 2-3 were filmed in the same day and the remaining two on a different day.

On the Ear Biscuits of the same week Rhett disclosed he had some minor eye operation at some point recently. I wondered whether the reason Rhett looked irritable and sick on Monday's episode was because it was filmed soon after that operation. However, based on their interactions, it seems there must have been some argument between Rhett and Link. Link seemed a little withdrawn to himself while Rhett repeatedly complained about him not contributing or not understanding teamwork.

I imagine this must be a delicate period right now, post Wonderhole and the underwhelming viewership which neither of the two expected to this degree. If now it is a period of discussing what lies ahead for them creatively, Link perhaps suggested to give up on such projects. Link has also been increasingly seemingly underwhelmed by GMM, which might have started alarming Rhett. Link could be thinking that Wonderhole was financially damaging but also it could be that this year also proved that this type of approach does not pass the message Link has claimed they want the viewers to get, whatever that is, so perhaps Link has lost his patience with this approach, which was mostly Rhett's idea after all.

I wondered why they have not mentioned Wonderhole yet but they posted a poll on Ear Biscuits asking our opinion on it, so they will talk about it in one of the next episodes. We might get a clearer picture there.

As a side note, in this week's EB the segment about arguments in relationships was... interesting. Link said how his past arguments with Christy were ferocious (he has said this before but this time he also mentioned how Christy used to lock herself in the garage to avoid him, which is a questionable thing to share, but most likely it is not as serious as it sounded) but now they are a lot milder yet frequent. Link exposed Rhett's frequent "debates" with Jessie more than Rhett seemed willing to mention them, however Rhett on his own confirmed that he and Jessie passed through the stage of finding each other annoying after the first years of marriage. He interestingly conveyed that the reason all arguments were resolved in their case was because it was and will always be unthinkable to them that their relationship would not work out, so it simply has to be resolved sooner or later. Notice Link's face in those moments... Sometimes I wonder whether Rhett is blind or just does not care... or if my own eyes have something wrong about them. But notice him. From his side, Link... recommended a divorce to this MB too!

MY SCHOOL PRESIDENT – REPRESENTATION MATTERS

Maybe it's just my own wishful thinking, and maybe it's too early to tell for sure (though I don't think so), but remembering what Producer Aof, Director Au and the rest of the team did with Bad Buddy – it looks like the MSP team is giving a positive shout-out to the spectrum, even while anchoring the series firmly within the BL genre.

We have–

TinnGun – gay

SoundWin – gay, though Win may be bi/pan

TiwPor – likely gay

YoNook – straight

And Ep.7 suggests Pat may be straight/bi/pan but he comes across as more ace or arrow (to me at least).

And FINALLY the lesbians get a mention! 😍

I'm just hoping they give us a trans character somewhere too – oh WAIT a goshdang hot Bangkok minute, they already did! 😍

The role of the producer at GMM Music in Ep.5 was played by actor and host Golf Kittipat Chalaragse, who openly identifies as a transgender woman.

It's important to note that she is treated by the boys with utmost respect in her one scene, and also that she broke disappointing news to Gun (not being shortlisted for signing despite his obvious talent) with kindness and empathy.

This quietly positive portrayal of a trans character in a position of influence is important for all the trans kids out there who might be watching this. (And yes, I'm aware that Golf's character in the show is not specifically identified as trans, but given her fame in Thailand I think most Thai viewers would see her as such.)

Bearing in mind that My School President is a lightly-crafted Thai-style High School Musical taking place in a QL universe, I believe that it is still carrying the sense of mission previous (more strident) Thai QL dramas have been sounding – The Eclipse, Not Me, and even Bad Buddy come to mind.

As with most other QL series, no one is treated as being less than anybody else based on gender or sexuality. So the boys take their Ep.6 music video – about the awkwardness of being in love while in the friendzone – happily into BL territory, free from any fear of societal judgement.

Previous dramas that did this (to the best of my memory) had an older target demographic, but this one is sending out a message of hope and normalization to a younger audience that it's OK if your sexuality or gender isn't society's perceived norm.

And to those who fit within the perceived norm as well, there is also the messaging that the trials and tribulations of your queer friends, family and compatriots have a lot in common with the dramas of your cishet lives too – so maybe it's time to stop othering anybody for being a little bit (or even a lot) different. (This is ultimately the message behind the switch from straight couples to BL ones in the Ep.6 music video, and also the BL switch in Bad Buddy's Kwan-Riam musical.)

It's not the first time a BL has been sending out messages geared to bolster queer self-esteem and normalization, but it's the first high school one in recent memory that seems to be radiating positivity all around, and hopefully its message will land with the younger set.

Heartstopper may already have done this, and its finished product is perhaps a bit more realistically grounded and polished, but that show was restricted to a smaller, paying and arguably older audience on Netflix.

I cannot begin to emphasize how important it is that My School President and its messages of positive self-worth are beamed free-of-charge to LGBTQ+ teens all over the world, including places where it might not even be safe to be openly LGBTQ+.

My School President may be going all out to entertain (and it does), but beneath the froth and fluff it's still doing something. With the team behind it I wouldn't have expected anything less. And I'm so glad they're at it still. 💖 👍

Jeff Satur-Lucid MV costar Nene Pornappan Pornpenpipat

So I know we've all been rewatching Lucid's MV, because it's so wonderful and beautiful, but of course I was curious about Jeff's costar, because I always am. So I looked her up, and turns out if you're a BL watcher, you may have recognized her. (I did not, though I have watched both seasons of this show, but I did think she was really beautiful.)

She's in 2gether the series, which is awesome. I did a very brief look into her, and the woman has a pretty wild career history and is also wonderfully talented. I didn't want anyone who watched Jeff's video to think that she's just a pretty face (though clearly she's very beautiful) so I did a smidgen of a deep dive.

I'll start with the basics...she is a Thai-Chinese (born in Bangkok, though both parents have Chinese ancestry) actress, and singer. Her Thai name is Pornnappan Pornpenpipat, and her Chinese name is Zheng Naixin. She uses the nickname Nene across pretty much all of her career endeavors. She's 25, and her birthdate is 25 June 1997. You can find her Instagram (nenevader) here.

Her professional career starts out in 2013, where she competed in True Academy Fantasia 10 (AF10) as the youngest contestant, being 16 at the time. Two years later she would debut with Thai idol group MilkShake managed by GMM Grammy. (You can see her in the center below.)

They released 2 singles, one in 2015 as their debut, and a second in 2016. While not officially disbanded as far as I can find, they have not released new music since 2016.

From 2016 to 2022 she would act in various roles in various countries, including Vietnam and China, and eventually play the role of Air in 2gether the series, which is also produced by GMM (specifically GMMTV).

In April of 2020 Nene participated in the Tencent Video's Chinese girl group reality competition show, Produce Camp 2020, eventually debuting as a member of BonBon303 in August of that year.

From 2020 to 2022 BonBon303 would release 3 EPs eventually disbanding in July of 2022. During those two years Nene would also continue appearing in various Chinese shows, including reality and variety shows.

She debuted as a solo artist with the single Promise on July 12, 2022, under Sony Music China.

In the midst of all of this she also works sporadically modelling (unsurprising, as she is very beautiful) and was also a brand ambassador and promoter for Leader and Lancome respectively.

More impressively she also worked as a cultural Ambassador in 2022 as the China-Thailand Cultural Ambassador (I'm assuming one of many) and as the 2022 Thailand Customs Festival China-Thailand Cultural Exchange Ambassador. We have been seeing especially over recent years an increase in cross-country- and cross-cultural cooperation amongst many East Asian and South East Asian countries (Remember Jeff was also part of the KonnecThai Music and Arts event in late April of this year).

She also has her first solo fanmeet in Bangkok coming up at the end of this month for her birthday, which is awesome and I hope she has a really fun time.

Now this is a lot of basic information, but doesn't give us much in the way of personality other than to clearly display that this women is multi-talented and determined. I can't personally attest to her personality, but based around her choices for her solo song/MV, and her Instagram posts, she seems to be very cool, she doesn't shy away from posting casual, candid, or unmade-up photos on IG, which always adds point in my book for authenticity.

I'm not saying you need to follow her or stan her, or anything else, but I know how much Jeff values his own career (especially now that it's 100% under his control) and I don't think he would have chosen Nene, if he didn't think she was a pretty cool person. •Sweet Tooth, Good Dentist: Mark getting his well deserved main role. I’ve been waiting for this day!! The plot might be simple but it will be adorable. My pretty (REAL) doctor Jimmy is also in this- most likely to give me a second lead syndrome haha

•The Heart Killers: FirstKhao and JoongDunk with P’Jo. Unlike my impression of the mock, this is a ROMCOM🤡 Yeah the pilot was not clear at all FirstKhao have great chemistry but it just felt like I was seeing SandRay in another universe. On the other hand, JoongDunk have finally made it out of the universities. I heard that it’s gonna be based off The Taming of the Shrew by Shakespeare, which confuses me more. I’m quite skeptical about this

•The Ex-Morning: Who would’ve thought I’d see KristSingto in a bl in 2024😭 It’s so nice to see Singto onscreen again. The rekindling flame theme is ironically suitable for them. Apparently P’Aof is writing the original script with the Sotus director. I’m torn about this cuz I dislike krusty a lot but the nostalgia is kinda hitting me. It’s truly og revival era

•Perfect 10 Liners: Not an ensemble again🤦‍♀️ I was so confused when I saw the huge ass line of actors onstage but it seems like this will be split into 3 parts to focus on all of the cps. So basically it’s Midnight Series but only gay with Jittirain’s mediocre engineering plot💀 Even if I were to watch this it will only be for JuniorMark but no promises made cuz I can’t even bring myself to watch We Are rn

•Ossan’s Love Th: actually I was seeing EarthMix in the opposite roles but Earth being the one stuck in between is much more fresh ig. I cringed a lot while watching this. Idk Earth maybe comedy is not your forte? I won’t be sure until the actual thing will start airing but still the sirens are on🚨

•Scarlet Heart Thailand: Tu is back again in an adaptation after quite a while. They’ve put together a strong cast here but why is Gun not here!?! I’ve neither watched the series nor read the novel but I’ve heard people say it was traumatising🤡 Since it’s a historical setting, this will cost a lot in production I don’t expect this to air until the end of next year

•Leap Day: This is the best one out of the lakorns announced in part 2. Gun is always acting his ass off damn. This show will be stressful asf but the plot is pretty unique. Everyone’s reaction when Pond said Gun is playing his younger brother was so skdjjdj

•Hide & Sis: Janhae in a family murder drama niceee I got some Pretty Little Liars vibes in the start. If you’ve enjoyed PSIHY you’ll probably like this too

•The Dark Dice: Is this Jumanji and Squid Game mixed and made darker?? Prim definitely loves doing thriller shows but I beg of her to get out of that school uniform already💀 and Gemini finally got to put his hands on this genre. I’m not interested at all

•Friendshit Forever: Girl who is coming up with these show names😭 They had me believing it was a gl in the first 30 secs. Ohh Boun welcome my pretty boy. Betrayal game shows are so boring🤷‍♀️

how about ALL OF YOU LIED TO ME?? i feel scammed!! i was led to believe through every single thing i encountered that tinn and gun would have a fallout of some sort OR their relationship would suffer somehow. apparently i experienced goncharov levels of conspiracy, all of bl tumblr teamed up to stress me out because what actually awaited me was tinngun being sweet supportive boyfriends for over an hour!

speaking of which, from all the people dropping hints and nudging me to watch it, precisely zero told me it was the length of a kdrama episode! i was predicting like a 50min long script, how was i supposed to know gmm had decided to cosplay as tvn for a day?

episode 11 being longer and still not containing the iconic couple conflict but leaving it for the very last episode is just another way to break the norm, it's what bad buddy did, it's just not how bad buddy did it. and i want to take a moment to appreciate that the series decided it is more important to properly end the hot wave arc and show tinn's mom figuring out this whole thing mostly by herself and with the help of her husband rather than lashing out at her son. there was enough time spent on these things so the events of episode 12 don't feel rushed and the characters' actions don't seem unmotivated.

what was going on with tiwpor though?? i knew these two would be as rushed as a sequel to a hit hollywood movie but goodness..yet somehow..it works? tiwpor having bbq. then tiwpor having dinner. two meals and those kids are practically planning how to move in with each other as soon as possible.

the man the myth the legend tiwson wasn't even with the gang for most of the episode (my theory is that had he been there for the big fight, there would be no other way for his character to react other than getting down on all fours by por's side and growling at everyone..so they had to cut him out entirely)

experiencing soundgun confirming their devotion and then attacking each other like wild hyenas thirty minutes later was one of the highlights but something i enjoyed even more was pat giving off "had a crush on my bestie but gave up on it cause we're too alike" vibes, i did not expect to get so much personality from either tiw or por but pat had my head spinning

tiwson in the first five minutes like "yall bout to break up? sucks mate. well, we had a good run!" ..i cannot believe i thought this man was about to break down and tell tinn about all that he's been enduring for him. man's only as invested as the task at hand gives promise of a bl drama plot unveiling before him. (also, how did he see his relationship with por developing in that scenario? "tinn and gun can do whatever, i'm going to bite that cute bbq chef and the holy chinzhilla can watch from the corner for all i care")

realising tinn could've not become a school president to help them win but then realising he had to do it for the guys anyways because they would have had to give up long before hot wave

The Jungle - 1st Episode Review

I watched the first episode of The Jungle from GMM TV and I really liked it.

The 1st episode kind of presented three of the main girls and all the boys from this group of playboys called "The Jungle" who usually gathered at a secret bar called "Rendez-vous" (funny as hell that they used a French word for this bar. It's always this weird link between French and s*x).

So we have Gale (played by Mook), the apprentice designer. Her friend Pladao (played by PunPun), the journalist and Irin (played by Lookjun) the model. Let me start by saying that all the girls are dreamy. It is too soon yet to really know their personnalities but from what we could see on the first episode, Irinseems to be very straight forward and Gail is more reserved. She seems to lack self confidence as we could see in all the scenes when she's at work. As for Pladao, she seems to know what she wants but things are not going well too, in a her job as she is struggling between her ethics and what is requiered to stay relevant in her field. She seems to be working mostly on murderer cases but we have yet to see that properly.

About the men, they had a short introduction with what they are doing and how flirty they are with women. We have Hack (played by Krist) who is working in education or something like that; Pine (played by Off) who seems to be an henchman; Phetai (played by Thanat Lowkhunsombat) who is also a model/star who seems nice but it's more like his public image than his real personnality. We also have Nathee (played by Luke Voyage) and his only scene was him being bored as hell in car with a girl while she was trying to have s*x with him and he ditched her very rudely to go see his mates. Then we saw Nanman or Nanfah (played by Nanon). We dunno which twin we saw (yeah because we knows he played twins thanks to the trailer so no spoiler here). I would guess we saw the bad twin. He kind of helped Gale and Pladao to get to the "Rendez-vous". He seems to usher girls to join the bar so he and his "friends" get them... It's not clear yet but since they are called playboys it would make sense. I almost forgot but we are also introduced to Hunter, the cryptic bartender (played by Mix) who gives you the signature drink and prepare room (rooms for what... it's heavily implyed that it's for intercourses). So the boys have no real personnalities yet except maybe for Phetai and Pine. They don't seems nice and we pretty much only know that they are handsome and used to get what they want.

It's only the first episode. They are still many myteries coming and we haven't met yet Florence, August and Nithan (the other girls on the main cast). The story is a bit cliché, but I love clichés. I can't wait to see what is going to happen. Who will fall in love with who. I hope for revenge and craziness. The trailer was intriguing and the first episode was still good even if nothing really happen. They have only spread some infos but it is enough for us to want to know the rest of the story. Anyway give a chance to this show.

The Trainee

Okay, firstly, this post does not sing high praises, so please scroll past if that's not your thing. Don't come at me later, please, I'm too exhausted to write proper comebacks the tumblr way. Oh, and there will be spoilers-

I had high expectations from this show, ngl. I mean it's OffGun, so it's a natural reaction. Did I like Cooking Crush very much? Not really. Did I enjoy it? Yeah, sure. It was nice and the comedy was impeccable, I have to admit. But I was actually really looking forward to The Trainee. It was a new concept, OffGun were finally graduating (!!!).

All of those expectations aside, I would just like to point out that this is a BL and was advertised as such. So why, pray tell, did it feel like (I paraphrase @desi-yearning cause she got the sentiment down pat) a het show with a side of BL??

I mean look, I do mind het shows a bit (personal. opinion.), but I don't usually mind het sides in a BL. This was not that.

At this point, I think RyanJane had less screentime than TaeMhee. Which- again, why, why, why in the name of all that's good and gay would you make them get back together?! What were you on. The breakup seemed necessary and it felt like the show was building up to it. And the thing with Judy??? You could have had a GL side and you ignored that for a *gestures* whatever that was. Fine, no GL side. Still, you could have had Mhee explore her bisexuality more? She's literally wearing black even after she gets back with Tae?? Sigh.

Tae is... for a lack of a better word, very dependent on Mhee. A little too much. He really should learn to do things himself.

And don't even get me started on the proposal. Pie's "you're the girl. He should be the one proposing" had me losing almost all my respect for her. So much show and jazz. For a het proposal. A het that's supposed to be a side couple. What are you trying to do? Establish a new pairing?? With Sea? I mean yeah sure do that. But do that in a het series. Next time, please save me the trouble with proper advertising.

The characters were well-written, kind of, yes. But there was just so much potential that got wasted. It physically hurts to think of all the big time potential they wasted. Just... down the drain. This could have been the second best GMM BL of the year, now it's a mid series at best.

What are you doing with OffGun. You either stop baiting people with parings, or you start doing things properly. This is the most GMMTV ending I've seen in a while. And here I thought the year was going good sigh.

And what was up with those no-contact 5 years?? You could have at least had a Long Distance Relationship??? You just waltz back and expect him to take you back?

All this is giving me a headache. I need to still finish a paper that's making me go through the 5 stages of grief. It's just 500 words why- ugh nevermind.

Basically, this series was a big example of how you should build up and also a big example of what not to do in the middle and the ending.

GMMTV. You've given me We Are, from a Director I wasn't even expecting it from. You better do the other series I'm hoping for well. Please and thank you. <3

Finally, I just want to say for all that I... criticize this show, I do have good things to say about it. Would I hard rec it? Probably not. Should you watch it? Uh, sure, if you're bored, have time to waste and really like OffGun and don't mind a lot of het PDA. And I mean a lot.

i've been waiting for this moment for what feels like forever (it has been a year), AND IT'S FINALLY HERE!!

ngl, i would have watched this show regardless because 1, it's a gl, and 2, like it or not, i'm a gmm enjoyer. i tend to like the stuff they release, and there's namtanfilm who i didn't know previously at all, but they are so pretty, i mean, who can blame me for paying more attention to them, right?

this first episode was so so great! beyond my expectations actually. for some reason i thought they would start slow, but from the first episode we got a little from the twins' dynamic, the relationship between them and grandma, introduced 2 out of 3 members of the side couple, the "oom and paul might have been targeted" and set the whole pretending to be my sister plan in motion. ohh, and also be hopelessly smitten with your romantic interest from the moment oon set her eyes on may quite literally!

i did know the younger twin would be in a coma/vegetative state, but i didn't know paul, the husband, would die! that one caught me off guard, dude seemed quite genuine about oom. and i'm sure oom will eventually wake up, what is the point of having extremely different twins if not for them to come back at some point to mess with everything you built, right?

from what i got, oom has kept most of her life separated from may. enough that no one knew about may (that we know) other than jan. and also, i got the impression oom and oon are not the tightest duo, so the less they either knew about each other, the better. i'm so curious to know more about oommay though, because they even had rings! oom was a little cold, but she didn't give me the impression to be a terrible person, so we'll see.

I like girls house, it's an interesting design, but most likely it will only be in the pilot trailer. maybe I'll watch it, but nothing is clear about the plot yet, except that everyone in the house is crazy.

William is very handsome, so it was only a matter of time before the bosses brought him into acting. without further ado, I liked it and I will be following this show. This is a classic melodrama about a relationship that is obviously doomed to collapse, unless one gives in and stays /leaves with another, or maintains a long-distance relationship.

such a short trailer. perhaps the script is not even available yet. I love Off. He's in a genre like fish in water (midnight motel, hello). I'll wait for the official trailer to figure out if I'm going to watch this show or not.

gmm took wabi sabi's project under his wing. Okay, back to the vampires. do I think they took the original pilot trailer and changed a couple of scenes, adding their own actors, or did they reshoot the original pilot trailer from footage? Anyway, it looks good. Kay is finally not a schoolboy. maybe I'll watch it.

Jittirain again. I'm in agony all over. Should I watch this if it's based on Jittirain's novel? Mark sings last twilight. is this project produced Aof? JimmySea song! Jimmy's cameo! Can we expect Sea's cameo? JimmyOhm? It's definitely produced Aof! Captain needs an assistant Captain hehe. I have already imagined the scene in mv "Blame the Stars" and "Maybe this is love", in which Jimmy's character is sitting alone in a cafe after he was rejected and Sea's character appears here, ordering coffee (Sea loves coffee, yes). I'm biased, but I'll watch it 100%.

Krist and Aou - I laughed so hard (be my favorite, hello). This is for peraya fans. I'm not a fan, but I like Singto. the plot is easy. idk, maybe.

A historical fantasy het. Not mine. But the cast is wonderful.

I might disappoint this fandom a lot. When I watched the first episode I could feel Gemini-Fourth there. They don't feel like Kongthap-Atom Or whoever they are supposed to be. They were phenomenal actors. I know that. They did a great job in Moonlight chicken and MSP. But here, having a Japanese version that we have to compare to, their acting seems mediocre. The Japanese Ida was a socially awkward, serious boy. But Gemini version of Kongthap is a loosely written one. Don't get me started on Aoki. Also Hashimoto San was my crush, who just captured my mind with just a smile. Mudmee didn't. She doesn't exude a loser in love girl. She seems stiff and in ep2 just destroyed her character completely.

One thing that disturbs me the most is the show somehow doesn't have a rhythm. Events are placed here and there. Things are happening. But there is some gaps between them that the ride seems bumpy. The Japanese version has a rhythm, a song like quality to it. But here.. The show is more like a bunch of tweet worthy clips and gif worthy moments are clasped together to satiate the fan girl. It would be good for a fan. Nothing gives more explanation than this to show the expensive High School Musical drama they had showcased in ep2. GMM can do better. They had proven that they could by the Cherry Magic adaptation. Still why???

My Love Mix Up Episode 2

I have just finished the episode and I was not pleased, so this is your warning to look away if it's going to hurt your feelings to read a serious critique of this show.

I was trying to give it some space last week, but this is an offensively bad adaptation of a beloved Japanese work. I could not believe my eyes through the final part of this episode, and I was already feeling pretty down on the episode before I even got there. The team at GMMTV has stripped most of the important themes and the unique aspects of these characters away and replaced them with monetized drivel that is basically just a MSP redux in Kieta Hatsukoi drag. Let me make a quick list of the bad changes in this episode:

Rather than accepting Atom volunteering to play the lead role in drag and rallying around him, the class shoots him down and forces Mudmee into the role

Which means not only that Atom does not perform in drag, but also does not spend time properly rehearsing for this role on stage with the rest of the cast (put a pin in that one!)

Atom doesn't struggle much with getting over Mudmee and starts making moon eyes at Kongthap much earlier on--there's no real arc, it just suddenly is happening

Kongthap is somehow comfortable starring as the lead in a musical despite the fact that he is meant to be a socially awkward and quietly intense dude

Oh yeah, they made the play a goddamn musical so they could make a series of MVs within the episode and monetize the OSTs (they were going to make Mudmee, a girl with intense stage fright, sing and dance onstage???)

Atom runs into the play at the last minute (somehow in a costume for a part that didn't exist) and hits all his marks, performing flawlessly in a role he did not properly prepare for instead of comically struggling to carry out a passable performance

Kongthap (who you may recall is supposed to be awkward and uncomfortable with romance and uncertain of his feelings for Atom) smoothly performs a love duet and ballroom dance scene with Atom, rather than awkwardly delivering a few stiff lines

Rather than the whole class teasing Atom about a drag performance in a way that displayed a subtle form of systemic bias, they had three bullies be blatantly homophobic and get singled out as bad apples

These choices are not just bad because they're different, they're bad because they undermine characterization and the internal logic and themes of the story. Some of this just plain doesn't make sense, and I no longer wonder why Fourth and Gemini are struggling in these roles when their characters are not consistently grounded. If they wanted a generic high school show to make more quick money off this cast, I really wish they would have left Kieta Hatsukoi out of it.
