G3 is really cool because recently, they've been taking characters I didn't really care about in g1 and making their core dolls absolutely beautiful

I was originally not going to make a post about this, but after seeing a few other posts about it, I wanted to make my own. I have a LOT to talk about.

TW: Transphobia, Homophobia, Ableism

If you don’t know what I’m taking about- there was a post made by a user, who’s name I will not disclose or share, who discussed how they would rewrite the new Monster High G3 Cartoon. While some of the points were mundane, or points of preference, others made me very uncomfortable, as they got rid of much of the diversity that G3 has brought into the Monster High Universe. I want to quickly go through three of the points that I felt were erasing these steps in diversity, and my thoughts on each one, and why I think that it’s iffy, to say the least.

First is the statement “all of the couples from G1 will stay together”. While this may read to some as a preference for the old couples, in the context of rewriting G3- it comes across as the erasure of both couples involving a neurodivergent character being the subject of a crush, and being seen as desirable and loved (Manny x Twyla), and what probably was the intended couples they wanted to seperate, the canonically queer ships. In particular, this is most likely against Clankie (and POSSIBLY an s2 ship which I won’t say by name because some people want to go in blind. Instead I will refer to it as 🧡💚.). In this rewrite context, wanting to take away queer relationships which many writers and designers for Monster High have fought for in many shapes and forms. G1 never had explicit queer characters, the closest things being a scrapped SDCC diary entry (Valentine x Spelldon), Post-Ending 3rd party statements (Clawdeen is a Lesbian, Rebecca x Venus, etc.) and implied characters (Kiyomi). While these are okay, they are NOT the same as explicit queer couples, which are arguably more important to push forward in the talk and scope of present and future representation.

While it is okay to prefer the G1 ships, in the context of bringing them back for G3, it erases these queer couples, and ignores the lore and universe of G3. In G3, Cleo and Deuce are exes. And if you don’t like that, you can still watch G1!! It’s not magically disappeared, the movies and shows and music is all still out there, and most of it is free! But, erasing Clankie, 🧡💚, and other potential queer ships in G3, for the preservation of a m/f ship isn’t okay.

On the subject of erasure, there is the statement “Frankie is still non-binary, but now uses she/they pronouns”. A character canonically using they/them in cartoons, especially ones made for kids, are uncommon. Honestly, I don’t even know if I could name 10, and that says more about the state of non-binary representation than it does about me. While changing the pronouns of a cisgender character to gender neutral ones is often done in fandom, and often not a point of issue, taking a character who is canonically non-binary and solely uses they/them and giving them typically gendered pronouns erases that under represented group, and allows for transphobes to ignore the “they” in “she/they”, and only use “she” for the character. This is an issue in real life too, for many who use multiple sets of pronouns, including myself (they (preferred) / he) ! We deserve both of their sets of pronouns to be used, and people who only use they/them deserve to be referred to by and as they/them. These changes hurt everyone.

Then, we come to the one I see the most talk about, and the one that made me audibly yell “what the f-?!”- taking away Twyla’s canon autism diagnosis, and symptoms & traits, and replacing it with autism coding, so that she is easier to identify with. First of all- easier for who??? Neurotypicals ?? It is incredibly rare to see a character on kids TV outright say “I am autistic”, and Twyla is wonderful as representation. Twyla will not resonate or be relatable to every person- but that is true for all characters, not just autistic ones. Autistic people are not a monolith, it is a spectrum, with many different ways to present itself. Also… taking away all of her traits and symptoms to make her more relatable? These traits and symptoms are what would have made her “autistic coded”, and without them, you have a character who is NT.

Autism isn’t a quirky word you can use to describe anyone, it is a disability, that myself and many others have, and see misrepresented time and time again. And to say that a good example of it is not good, and would be better off to be erased and replaced with coding is insane. Coding is okay, but that’s all it is. Real spoken representation matters so much to me, and so many other people, even if the characters we see are not identical to us in those symptoms and traits they exhibit. These characters should not be changed, but rather, more autistic characters, with different presenting symptoms and traits, should be introduced !

You can like G1, you can prefer G1, but that does not mean that you have to make a sanitised version of G3, that makes it identical to G1. In terms of representation, there is no arguing that G3 has G1 beat. The poster said on their post that “any new characters would be made more relatable”, but… to who? Because I relate to a lot of the G3 characters more than the G1 ones, and I grew up loving G1! It’s not been wiped, all of the media still exists for you to watch, and make headcanons for ! If you like G1- good for you! But please, stop trying to make G3 exactly like it. Because change is inevitable in these kinds of reboots, and it allows for the representation some want to take away.

Hiiii i think this could become a regular thing I draw but here is my version of Venus McFlytrap for G3!! I am aware of how delusional the concept is but it is how I would design her.

-She has more of an intense, firey and eccentric personality, and she is incredibly headstrong and loud and aggressively supportive.

-They start to date Clawdeen after a bunch of gay pining

-Chewlian’s name is now Aubrey II

-She thrifts clothes and remakes them into her own style

-He crafts things out of trash and sells them

-They show themselves to humans on occasion for protests (hates humans a bit before becoming close to Clawdeen)

FINALLY got G3 Venus and yes. She is worth the hype. I love the way her hair feels and her clothes and accessories are incredibly cute.

Her, Abbey, and Twyla have the best base designs in my opinion, although I’m a bit biased in G3 Twyla’s favor because I love pink and pastels. I can understand why people don’t like that her dark colors have kind of been phased out in favor of pinker shades, but as a person who buys as many pink dolls as I can get my hands on I’m a fan.

So friggin’ hyped for Monster Fest and Core Refresh. I haven’t gotten any Cleos yet, just because she isn’t my personal style, but Core Refresh Cleo and Monster Fest Cleo are both incredibly adorable and I feel like I’ll HAVE to get at least one of them.

Also I still need to get Amped Up Frankie at some point so yeah, that too. And I wanna get Core Refresh Lagoona and Frankie… and Welcoming Committee Frankie… hope you have fun will all my money Mattel…

I’m glad G3 is there to fill the void LOL OMG and especially Rainbow High have left in my heart…

Sektmet vs Jon:*after a long fight where both sides spilled blood and body parts. Jon is missing a leg a arm a eye and half his face with Sektmet missing her tail her eye her ears are torn apart with her legs mangled and both fighters being disenbowled with their guts spilling out.* Jon:...damn..I thought so...the universe needed another big joke...one final jest and who else then the world's most mundane useless blank man...i..*he is stopped by Sektmet slapping him she then Carves his full name into her arms and smiles as he dies both showing faces of pride and ADMIRATION as Jon passes on smiling with tears of joy falling from his eyes* Sektmet:you were incredible Jon Arbuckle! Okay so I have a few round ideas and their themes.

Alexis 'Dolly' Loveheart (Jamaerica I like to headcannon Dolly lives in a world like The Ace Attorney games and I'm sure that's how the game describes the area the games take place in.) VS Hera

The mortal mother with 20+ children and the 'Queen of Magic' (main Magic authority in my verse.) VS the wife of zues and queen of the gods. The mother who took any child in and got her reputation as a mother to all while being a baddass VS the queen who's well known for unjustly punishing the mortals taken advantage of by Zues and the children of the affairs. (Seriously Hera SMITE HIS ASS) ones a great mother ones pretty crap.

Dolly:*whos wearing her old workout uniform* (Purple yoga pants a pink shirt crop top and some workout sneakers her devine weapon is pretty much fingerless boxing gloves mixed with spiked brass knuckles.) *after winking to her husband who turns into a tomato* better to look like a doll then to throw your son off a mountain.

Hera:*readying her staff* curb your tounge!

Dolly:37 children and I don't recall you caring for any of them.

Hera:I have 2.

Dolly:oh wow just erase Hephaestus huh? Well you are bad at this. You seemingly play favorites with the gods. You join in mock Ares. You don't watch any other of the kids zues had now I know it sucks to be cheated on. I have 3 exs after all. But..last I check Zues is a shit father. And you..could of at least watch the kids. I mean you are the Goddess of family. And you ditched one son humiliate another I haven't even seen your daughter in YEARS and you've tried to kill every other damn child! And let's not forget one tiny detail.

Who I think the Lost Boys' favorite Monster High characters would be

This turned out longer than I expected, but I also included explanations for my picks. Let me know your guy's thoughts :))

David: G1 Toralei Stripe and G3 Draculaura

For Toralei, David LOVES a messy bitch. He supports women's wrongs always, and Toralei causes almost every problem in Monster High. I definitely see David as a cat guy, and Toralei is the true embodiment of cat-attitude. She's a leader and your classic mean-girl, but doesn't like kicking people who are already down, and you know what? He respects it. He respects it a lot.

When it comes to Draculaura, he didn't really get the G1 hype. She's very sweet and pink, which is Totally not his style (so he says), and he thought the Monster High take on vampires was incredibly silly. But by G3, Draculaura's grown on him. He doesn't really get the whole vampire-witch thing, but he's surprisingly fond of her new style. He likes the dainty little sheer details on her main doll's top especially. Also, the image of this "cool" vampire with a cute little pink doll is Very Good.

Marko: G1 Venus McFlytrap and G3 Frankie Stein

Look at Venus and tell me Marko wouldn't be obsessed with her. Her overall personality is really inconsistent, but he's super fond of her being depicted as a loud, chaotic party animal. He really likes her bold colors and all of the patterns she wears and the fucking sharp teeth on her shoes. I could see him trying to recreate that. He'd also add little details of his own to her battle vest.

He wasn't really big on G1 Frankie because she was sort of basic to him, but really likes the new take on their preppy/punk style, especially the new bright color palette. Neons really stick out to him. The new prosthetic leg is so goddamn cool y'all, and he'd be all over the idea of Frankie doodling on themselves. Also! Canon trans doll! I headcanon Marko as transmasc, so the inclusion of a nonbinary doll that actively binds? Sign him up, he wants that.

Paul: G1 Lagoona Blue and G3 Ghoulia Yelps

Lagoona is such a cute monster, and she's so fucking friendly. She can get along with any monster without letting anyone walk all over her (except for Gil, who Paul HATES), and Paul would just adore her passion. He really likes how she leans into the whole fish-aesthetic with her outfits, and he just thinks she so cool. Like, look at the fishnet shorts!! He'd love that shit!! Specifically I think he'd like her Dawn of the Dance look, but moreso the official art rather than the doll.

G3 Ghoulia is so cool y'all. He already liked G1 Ghoulia, who was easily in his top five monsters, but G3 has that skater/gamer aesthetic and this man just eats it up. I feel like he'd be disappointed that she doesn't speak Zombie anymore, but her new cool-girl schtick makes up for it. He definitely gets rid of her eyebrows with nail-polish remover as soon as he gets her out of the box though. Thinks she looks better without them.

Dwayne: G1 Clawdeen, G1 Abbey Bominable, and G3 Ghoulia Yelps

Yes, Dwayne gets THREE because I genuinely couldn't decide between G1 Clawdeen and G1 Abbey for him, and I didn't feel like G3 Abbey was really his style.

G1 Clawdeen is That Bitch. She's confident, bold, and does not hesitate to call someone out on their bs. I think Dwayne would really admire her feircly protecive nature and her no-nonsense attitude. And that fur coat? That fur coat that she wears to high school? Increadible. Amazing. Showstopping. Dwayne would also figure out how to curl doll hair just for Clawdeen because he Knows what she deserves. The irony of a vampire liking a werewolf character is not lost on him.

Is Abbey's accent accurate to the Himalayas? No. Does Dwayne care? Also no. Abbey is way too charming of a character for him to be terribly bothered by her Russian-esk accent (even though he points it out Every Time). She's honest to the point of accidently insulting her friends and doesn't really understand a ton of cultural differences, which Dwayne thinks makes her more fun. He'd really love her dry sense of humor and her strong disposition. And honestly? Maybe I just think he has a thing for faux fur.

Another G3 Ghoulia enjoyer. I feel like we've somehow collectively forgotten that Dwayne skateboards. I haven't forgotten though, and I think Dwayne would redecorate Ghoulia's skateboard and then promptly lose it (he'd end up stealing Paul's and then gaslight him into thinking it was his the whole time). I think he'd really enjoy this more confident version of Ghoulia, but again, disappointed by the language shift. (I'm projecting at this point.)

Star: G1 Spectra Vondergeist and G3 Cleo De Nile

Look me in the eyes and tell me that Spectra DOESN'T make you think of Star. She's pretty reclusive but a mega gossip, and she's super quick to make judgements. Spectra will literally make shit up and then start to believe it herself, including lies about her own past. Her aesthetic is somewhere between the lost boys' and Star's, which looks both cool and super flowy. Star would totally see herself in Spectra in both appearance and personity, and as another supporter of women's wrongs, I think that she'd adore her.

Honestly I feel like G3 would be a hard sell for Star because she's already so attached to the original versions of the characters, but if she had to pick, it would be Cleo. Her jacket and accessories are so fucking cool, and Star definitely wishes she could see herself properly so she could do makeup like that (she does NOT trust the boys). She would try to paint Cleo's molded-on bandages and ruin the plastic, but she'd wrap real fabric around it to hide her fuck up.

Michael: G1 Frankie Stein and G3 Deuce Gorgon

Michael is nothing if not a basic bitch. G1 Frankie is very peppy and constantly confused since she's somehow always 16 days old, which I think Michael can relate to. She has the messiest fucking love-life known to man, and he gets it. She's exploring and trying to learn everything at once, which includes relationships, and Michael isn't exactly known for thinking things like that through. He isn't the biggest on any sort of fashion, but I think he'd like her color palette and the little stitch details. That, and I think he'd find her heterochromia really cool.

G3 Deuce is the first time Deuce didn't look like a weird asshole to Michael, and I think after meeting the lost boys, he's definitely more into alternative men's fashion than he used to be. This new Deuce is what Michael considers "cool" in a cartoonish sort of way. I wouldn't put it past him to try to figure out how to decorate his jacket a little to resemble Deuce's considering the lost boys all have something unique going on, but I think he'd end up regretting the snake motif since it isn't really Him.

Sam: G1 Draculaura and G3 Twyla Boogeyman

He's going with the safe choice, but he's right. Draculaura is sweet, sensitive, and a shopaholic (something he can related to, Mr. Born-to-shop). I think, like Star, he'd be the type project onto her. He'd get as many different Draculaura sets his grubby little hands and mostly-empty wallet can get and he'd talk to all of them like, "You hearing this shit, Draculaura?" Even though she's a vampire and he's recently been on the anti-vampire bandwagon, he makes an exception for her because she's vegan.

I feel like he was surprised with how much he liked the new Twyla since he wasn't terribly fond of G1 Twyla, but I think changing the green to a nice teal really helped. Her patterns don't clash as much (neither do her accessories, which he was SUPER bothered by in G1), and her hair Actually looks nice. She just feels more cohesive, which really sells her to Sam. He's still a die-hard Draculaura fan, but there's room in his heart for two cute monsters.

heres my ghoulia Thoughts before i make any permanent (paint) changes to anything.

for the sake of this post i put her back in the beloathed skirt 👍 i dont hate this design overall but there is so much i dislike. i miss the 2010s emo meets mid century meets dead girl vibe of ghoulias orginal style. i don't have a lot to say about sir hoots a lot, im glad he returned! but i really dislike the art style of the gen 3 pets.

i have to say, i enjoy all of the accessories that come with this ghoulia. I love the return of brain puffs!! the hand-held gaming device is incredibly cute, and being a gamer feels appropriate for ghoulia's whole nerdy/geeky/weird girl vibe. i love the return of deadfast on the board. i kind of like that she skates, but i hope shes still clumsy like she was in gen 1. her backpack isnt in this picture, but i adore the brain texture, and just the general facts that the signature dolls all come with book bags instead of purses. i love a doll backpack!

the details on these boots are awesome in classic mh fashion. i plan to repaint the boots to be cherry red, and then bring back out the little details. the platforms are also brain textured, but the glossy black paint makes it hard to photograph. the headstone earrings are perfect, no notes, i would wear these. the glasses are cute, and i like the bone shaped detail on the glasses arms, but the lenses are thick and kind of hide her face. might see if i can carve them down to just the frames cause i do like the shape.

the outfit pieces are.... lacking. the beanie is ok, it fits her head nicely, and the brain is cute, but it just feels like a very lazy piece to me and im indifferent to the grey jersey fabric.

I hate the skirt. its not that it doesnt feel like a mh piece in concept, but it doent feel like a ghoulia piece at all to me (bright pink and green pvc/leather miniskirt feels much more venus to me no??). It also fits her horribly. it rides up, it makes her look blocky and awkward, she can't sit down in it, and its a big highlight to how much i miss the cherry red over the bright pink for this specific character.

i like the shirt and jacket a little better. the shirt fits her very nicely, and while i don't love the unfinished edges it's definitely on par with a lot of the little gen 1 crop tops. i wish it was a nicer, softer cotton t shirt fabric though. i feel the same way about the fabric the jacket is made from. the jacket is my favorite piece from her outfit, it feels the most ghoulia to me. the monster movie font of the brains ribbon down the sleeves is cute and reminds me of her original mid century motifs, as well as the bomber cut. also more brain print haha. its ok, monster high has never been subtle. i just miss the secondary cherry motif she had before. it worked so well!!

this outfit feels kind of lame for a signature doll. as is, its pretty understated compared to the others, and none of the pieces are as nice as the quality of draculaura's shorts, pink blouse, or pink bustier (at this time she is my only other g3 doll). i think that with AT LEAST some different fabric choices this same design could have been better.

my ghoulia also came with deep seam lines on the back of her thighs, which my draculaura has as well. ive seen others say the same, I think all gen 3 mh might have this leg seam. also, random holes in her feet?? but neither of these things really bother me much. overall, i think shes very cute, especially with a bit of a restyle. i love the shades of blue in her hair (though it tangles very very quickly with handling. like i said about draculaura, the lack of brush seems like an oversight). the green skin is really growing on me, i miss grey ghoulia but the green isnt nearly as bad as i feared and as time goes on i kind of like it. i feel like shes too pretty right now, in a princessy and also in a not dead enough way, with the soft pink lips and the blush on her cheeks and the bright eye makeup, but her cheeks are much less full than they seem in her stock photos, which is such a lovely suprise. while her face and jaw are wide, her cheekbones are quite high and angular and while her cheeks arent sunken the way her gen 1 mold's are, they aren't round at all. im excited to restyle and slightly customize her, and i plan to post again when shes all done 👍

RAG AU Vertical Rush Challenge

So yesterday Venus came home to Taurus and today Mars hits Cancer

This sets a new scene, a movement of our lower masculine and feminine humanness for us to sieve through what is required and what is no longer conducive to conscious being. Right before the Full Moon swimming in the moody depths of Scorpio.

Ok a new level of PAY ATTENTION….those words are becoming tiresome but moving forward it is THE most important advice. OBSERVE everything and CHOOSE conscious are the keys to surfing, well perhaps we use O&C as the surfboard, it’s the vehicle of choice to cut your through those choppy waves and allow you to jump to heights never possible on the blind board which appears to be more like a board made of concrete…purposely built for practicing on the shore and not for the fun in the cosmic tide.

Observation, believe it or not is incredibly hard in the beginning of the heart awakening. We have been hardwired to run out our programs, attaching to our realities, accepting life because “that’s life” and all the other ridiculous victim sayings that accept the hardness of life…it’s all untrue of course and created by those locked into the old belief systems. But the moment you learn the art of observing Self and the reality you get to begin reading energy, you no longer see synchronicites and get all excited or start asking every forum on Facebook what does it mean, you know exactly what it means, like a paper chase of frequency, drawing you closer and closer to the big reveal, the big reveal of YOU, which appears to be a never ending super fun game of pass the parcel, with Babooshka dolls under every wrapper layer for you to start opening more dolls whilst unwrapping more layers of the parcel, finding sweets along the way which of course they require unwrapping too ….I hope you like unwrapping because that’s exactly what The Game of Life is all about…..once you have observed and learned the rules that is, and the keys of Observation and Choice will give you that very experience of beginning that unifying amazement of the heart awakening.

Every movement, from our Sun to cosmic explosions, from our planets including this spaceship we call Earth, every meteor shower, every reverberation EVERYWHERE changes the dynamics of the energy, creating new coordinates for us to blindly (at first) move through….until that day we See and we no longer accept THATS LIFE programming and we move into the Creator space and design our patterns around the structure of the cosmic pattern.

This is called surfing. No longer reactive just purely ACTIVE, sitting at your commanders seat and driving through the rock littered belt you find yourself in.

IS IT ANY WONDER THOSE RUNNING OUT PROGRAMS FEEL LIKE THEY WANT TO BLOW THEIR ENTIRE EXISTENCE INTO A BAZILLION PIECES.

This is a year of facing our truth and the higher the resistance the more loud life will get. You are being asked to become your purest You, you are being asked to drop all your conditions, and to unify with your light, bringing heaven on Earth, claiming your angelic Self and aligning to the harmonics of Gaia. What is there to resist?

Each movement of our celestial family creates a charge that sparks within us a need to love differently and it is only you that stands in the way. You are proving in your resistance how very powerful you are…it’s just being used to your physical detriment as opposed to your Sovereignty.

Easily switched…that’s the thing here…it’s only Ego that thinks this is hard….energy is actually to simple for the ego because ego loves the complexity of everything, ego loves to add words, exaggerate, build, debate and can never be happy with the lost simplest of ways.

Back to Mars we go….he doesn’t sit here too well, these emotional waters of Cancer create a very uncomfortable space, the lowest octaves can see Mars get rather manipulative, empaths often use these subtle streams with beliefs they are doing what’s right for everyone however the need base of the empath often creates a mission of manipulation, only for the empath to realise the misuse of their energy and find the void within to heal, BUT good old defense is always used once the shell starts to show the cracks. Rash emotional decisions could well be seen, knees jerking like a collective Cossack dance and mood swings are to be expected.

Cosmic surfers we often find our tweaks in these energies, learning how to move through takes times so again…pay attention and adjust as you see the distortions or feel the drains. It’s going to be crucial to choose wisely where you engage, your sacred fields may require some downtime for maintenance, stay away from the external noise and only place your energy where it can expand. Venus in Taurus is seeking value, seeking a nest in which she can settle knowing the darn thing isn’t going to blow away in the next solar storm. Lower octaves we can see our selfishness, possessiveness and the fears that make us hold on.

Cosmic surfers we are looking in/out for all that keeps things secure, where can we create from our fountains of passion, what can we expand upon to create more. Venus in Taurus may well be like a blue print for you to use and continue using as a template to build upon.

And as for the Sun….well the recent flares, the recent G3 winds are not over, firstly energy doesn’t have walls, it fades in and fades out and we currently have more CME’s heading our way PLUS we had a C2 solar flare during the night.

This is your propeller, moving you forward and showing what is anchoring you. This isn’t meant to be comfortable it is meant to feel like you are stretched, like an elastic band, FOR you to See your truth and where this contradicts the Divine Truth that you are.

Steve Vai Announces The Big Mama Jama Jam-A-Thon – SEPT 28-30

Steve Vai has announced he will host and serve as the musical director for “The Big Mama Jama Jam-a-thon” — an open, improvisational music/art event where the music doesn’t stop for 52 hours — to be held Sept. 28-30, 2018 at Musicians Institute’s brand new venue, LiveHouse, in Los Angeles, California.

The jam-a-thon will mark the public grand opening of LiveHouse. 100% of the profits raised will benefit Extraordinary Families, a leading nonprofit foster family, adoption agency in the Los Angeles area dedicated to improving the daily lives of children and youths in foster care.

Various professional musicians to be announced (including many of Vai’s friends) and novice musicians, along with celebrities, painters, poets, magicians, visual artists, speakers and other creative performers from all genres are invited to support each other in an “in-the-moment,” continuous 52-hour jam featuring non-stop music and other creative activity.

Vai will be center stage for the majority of the event and will be directing the band and jammers in an impromptu setting.

The festivities, which will commence on Friday, Sept. 28 at Noon Pacific and conclude at 4:00 p.m. Pacific on Sunday, Sept. 30, will be streamed live worldwide via www.jamathon.org, www.vai.com, and Steve’s official Facebook page, alongside other outlets including websites, social media, and cable TV stations.  The website www.jamathon.org includes more specifics about the jam-a-thon and outlines various ways to be involved and donate to Extraordinary Families.

“I currently serve on the board of Extraordinary Families and let me tell you, these folks are extraordinary, and do vital work for families and children in L.A.,” said Steve Vai. “It is such an honor to be involved with this organization, and to host something like this that will benefit so many children and families. ‘The Big Mama Jama Jam-a-thon’ will be a ton of fun and a place where anything can happen — expect quite a wild ride!”

“Our organization is so fortunate to have such extraordinary and dedicated supporters who have demonstrated a long-standing commitment as role models for children and youth in foster care,” said Sarah Boone, Chief Executive Officer of Extraordinary Families. “And we welcome more supporters to be someone who matters to someone who matters.”

Stig Mathisen, Chair of the Guitar Program at Musicians Institute (MI) added:  “MI is very honored to team up with Steve Vai and Extraordinary Families for this unique charity event and important cause, bringing together the world of music academia and the music industry, benefitting families that are doing an incredibly important job of providing support for children and youth in foster care.”

Entry to the jam-a-thon can be purchased here. Wristbands (good for 4-hour blocks of time) are for sale for $50 on a first-come, first-served basis (these will also be available at the door if spots remain available). Individuals interested in taking to the stage to participate in the jam can purchase and secure a slot on the jam (approximately 10 minutes in duration) during the hours of Midnight PDT to 7 p.m. PDT on Saturday, Sept. 29 and Midnight PDT to 3 p.m. PDT on Sunday, Sept. 30. 100 pre-purchased slots will be made available and guaranteed for a donation of $100 each, while they last.

On-site stage participation passes can be purchased for $150 if schedule and space allows but advance registration is encouraged. Beer, wine, non-alcoholic beverages, and simple munchies will be made available to purchase in the venue.

Auction items plus other unique and fulfilling opportunities to donate to Extraordinary Families will be available online at www.jamathon.org and at various times throughout the live webcast.

About Steve Vai:

A virtuoso guitarist, visionary composer, and consummate producer who sculpts musical sound with infinite creativity and technical mastery, Steve Vai has awed fans of all genres with his exceptional guitar skills and musicianship for decades.  At age 12, he started taking guitar lessons from Joe Satriani.  At 18, he began his professional music career transcribing for, and then playing with, the legendary Frank Zappa.  More than three decades, over 15 million in album sales, and three GRAMMY® Awards later, Vai has proven himself, in his own right, to be one of music’s true originals.
