SPEAK NO EVIL | Trailer #2 & Poster
When an American family is invited to spend the weekend at the idyllic country estate of a charming British family they befriended on vacation, what begins as a dream holiday soon warps into a snarled psychological nightmare.
From Blumhouse, the producer of The Black Phone, Get Out and The Invisible Man, comes an intense suspense thriller for our modern age, starring BAFTA award-winner James McAvoy (Split, Glass) in a riveting performance as the charismatic, alpha-male estate owner whose untrammeled hospitality masks an unspeakable darkness.
Speak No Evil stars Mackenzie Davis (Terminator: Dark Fate, Halt and Catch Fire) and SAG award-winner Scoot McNairy (Argo, A Quiet Place Part II) as American couple Louise and Ben Dalton, who, along with their 11-year-old daughter Agnes (Alix West Lefler; The Good Nurse, Riverdale), accept the weekend-holiday invitation of Paddy (McAvoy), his wife Ciara (Aisling Franciosi; Game of Thrones, The Fall) and their furtive, mute son Ant (newcomer Dan Hough).
Written for the screen and directed by James Watkins, the writer-director of Eden Lake and the award-winning gothic ghost story The Woman in Black, Speak No Evil is based on the screenplay of the 2022 Danish horror sensation Gæsterne, written by Christian Tafdrup and Mads Tafdrup. That film earned 11 Danish Film Awards nominations, the Danish equivalent of the Oscars.
Speak No Evil is produced by Jason Blum (Five Nights at Freddy’s, M3GAN) for Blumhouse and by Paul Ritchie (McMafia, The Ipcress File) and is executive produced by Beatriz Sequeira for Blumhouse, Jacob Jarek and Christian Tafdrup.
SPEAK NO EVIL – in theaters September 13th, 2024.

In Speak No Evil 2nd Trailer James McAvoy Wants A Family Like Yours
The Summer is seen as the time for family holidays. In the second UK Trailer for Speak No Evil it’s an holiday from hell for one and James McAvoy wants a family like yours. One of the best psychological horrors of the past few years has been Gæsternem  from Christian and Mads Trafdrup. Our horror aficionado Bradley Hadcroft did describe the Danish original version as “A beautifully barren piece…

2022. #Gæsterne #kinopreview #cinema #movie #film #быстрыйобзор #sergejbiohazardov #sergejbiohazardovMovie https://www.instagram.com/p/CnKBhOMMJoN/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

SPEAK NO EVIL (2024)
Starring James McAvoy, Mackenzie Davis, Scoot McNairy, Aisling Franciosi, Alix West Lefler, Dan Hough, Kris Hitchen and Motaz Malhees.
Screenplay by James Watkins.
Directed by James Watkins.
Distributed by Universal Pictures. 110 minutes. Rated R.
American remakes of foreign horror films almost never quite work. This one is better than many, but it still feels the need to change the very dark and downbeat ending of the original Danish film (called Gæsterne [The Guests], but eventually renamed Speak No Evil in its international release) into a pretty cookie-cutter, overly violent and much more clichéd Hollywood denouement.
Which is really kind of a shame, because the first 2/3rds of the movie, which was much more faithful to the Danish film, was actually pretty terrific. Particularly good was James McAvoy as the charming alpha male predator who traps a hapless, squabbling American couple in a gilded cage. (The couple is played by Mackenzie Davis and Scoot McNairy, reunited several years after their fantastic old TV series Halt and Catch Fire.)
That American couple is Ben and Louise Dalton. They have uprooted their lives, moving to London for Ben’s dream job, which disappeared quickly. Although Louise is miserable having given up her career, and their 12-year-old daughter Agnes (Alix West Lefler) appears homesick for the US, they have decided to stay in London while Ben regroups. This caused friction in their marriage – and Louise’s near affair didn’t help things.
Trying to heal the rifts – or at least to forget their problems – the family takes a vacation in the scenic Italian wine country. There they meet Paddy (McAvoy) and Ciara (Aisling Franciosi) and their boy with speech disabilities Ant (Dan Hough), a fun and charming, but slightly strange family, from deep in the British countryside of Devon. They befriend the couple during their trip and Paddy invites them to spend a weekend at their house so they can see another part of England.
The Daltons have no intention of taking them up on it, but when they return to their broken lives in London and receive a note from Paddy and Ciara reiterating the invitation, they decide they need some more distraction, and it may be an adventure.
Little do they realize.
Paddy and Ciara’s farmhouse is literally in the middle of nowhere. Quickly upon arriving, they are reminded of their new friends’ strangeness, particularly Paddy, who is oddly combative in conversation, seems to have an anger problem, and constantly is dropping very backhanded compliments.
As the stay becomes more and more disturbing, the Daltons discuss leaving, but Paddy and Ciara keep seeming to block their plans.
The audience figures out basically what is happening well before the hapless Daltons, but eventually the American family realizes that if they ever want to leave this nightmare behind, they will have to fight their way out.
And this is where Speak No Evil sort of loses the plot and becomes much less interesting than it had been previously. However, despite the kind of cookie-cutter final act, Speak No Evil has enough interesting twists and scares to make it worth the watch.

SPEAK NO EVIL – Review
DISTRIBUTOR: Universal Pictures
Tumblr media
SYNOPSIS: During a vacation in Italy, the Dalton Family encounters Paddy, Ciara, and their son Ant. Their paths intertwine, leading to an invitation from Paddy for the Daltons to visit his rustic countryside British estate. A postcard serves as a reminder of the invitation, prompting the Americans to embrace the opportunity to leave their troubles behind for a holiday in the tranquil British countryside. However, what initially appears to be an idyllic escape for the Daltons quickly transforms into a psychological nightmare as they find themselves fighting for their very survival.
REVIEW: James Watkins's film SPEAK NO EVIL is an adaptation of the 2022 Danish horror sensation Gæsterne, written by Christian Tafdrup and Mads Tafdrup. The original Danish film is a thought-provoking morality tale that explores various themes such as nationality, class differences, and political beliefs. While Watkins's retelling retains some of these elements, it transforms the film into a more Americanized and shocking horror experience, altering the film's overall impact.
In this slick Hollywood film, the technical aspects are robust, and the performances captivating. James McAvoy delivers a remarkable performance, reminiscent of his dark character "The Beast" in "Split" and "Glass." His portrayal is both mesmerizing and terrifying, but it overshadows the film's narrative.
In order to address my concerns with the film, there will be spoilers ahead.
The appeal of the Danish film lies in the nuanced and gradual transformation of Patrick, a seemingly ordinary character, into a horrifying monster. Patrick's portrayal lacks the exaggeration of a caricature, making him feel genuine and believable. This authenticity enhances the tension and horror as the viewer witnesses Patrick's predatory instincts unfold. The initial plausibility of the Swedish family's visit to the countryside sets the stage for the subsequent events, which take a sinister turn, becoming increasingly unsettling, primal, and ultimately shocking.
Whether or not you have seen the original movie, Paddy stands out as an intense and extreme character from his very first appearance in the retelling. There is an immediate sense of unease, a gut feeling that things will not end well for the Daltons.
In the retelling of the story, various elements are skillfully manipulated. A notable aspect of the Danish film is its deliberate omission of guns, a clever plot twist that culminates in a shocking climax, leaving a lasting impact on the viewer.
In the Danish film, Patrick's admission that he is not a doctor prompts an explanation for his deception. This pivotal moment intensifies the story's peril. In the remake, after Paddy’s explanation it cuts to the shock on the Daltons' faces as then as Paddy laughingly explains he was merely joking. While this aligns with his character's manipulative nature, it seems derivative of many genre films. The audience recognizes that Paddy is lying, making the scene feel pointless.
The Dalton family, originally from the United States, has relocated to London. They received this invitation to a rustic estate deep in the British countryside. As they embark on their journey in their Tesla,I had to question the practicality of their choice of vehicle. What charging options are available at the farm and along the remote countryside roads One has to wonder if this decision foreshadows their lack of understanding about the experience they are about to encounter.
In contrast to its predecessor, the film veers into a familiar horror trope, as the Daltons and Ant fortify themselves within a farmhouse while Paddy, Ciara, and Mike attempt to gain entry to eliminate them. Unlike the conventions of most horror films, Louise Dalton's maternal instincts awaken, prompting her to fight back as Ben Dalton exhibits cowardice. McAvoy's character undergoes a transformation from a plotting, conniving killer, and becomes the quintessential enraged, reactionary villain.
In the Danish film, the bold narrative deviates from conventional storytelling by challenging the triumph of good over evil, as innocent characters succumb to their fate. This contrasts with the American remake, where the prey escapes and Ant's brutal actions, akin to the parents' murder in the original film, are unleashed with a primal scream. The American version could be interpreted as a liberalized adaptation of the impactful Danish film or simply a watered-down, Americanized rendition of another great foreign masterpiece. This trend can be observed in other American remakes, such as "The Vanishing," "Nightwatch," and "Let the Right One In."
While the intention behind the reimagining of SPEAK NO EVIL is understandable, the execution falls short. The film heavily borrows elements from the Danish original that made it a critical success, but these crucial aspects are replaced by generic genre film action. As a result, SPEAK NO EVIL loses its cerebral horror and relies heavily on reactionary scares to elicit a cheap thrill from the audience. This approach may provide 2025’s Universal Halloween Horror Nights with another attraction but fails to capture the essence of the original film.
If you haven't watched the 2022 Danish film, you're likely to appreciate McAvoy's performance and the abundant jump scares. However, if you have seen the original, you might be let down by the oversimplification of the content, reducing it to the level of "fast food" - not even of the quality of Five Guys, Shake Shack, or McDonald's, but rather comparable to White Castle. Nevertheless, who can resist an occasional craving for sliders throughout the year?

Hvordan Man Bruger Dragen Puf Til At Skille Dit Juleevent Ud
Hvorfor Vælge En Dragen Puf Til Dit Juleevent?
Kombiner Dragen Puf Med Puff Legeland
Tilføj Et Country Tema For En Hyggelig Atmosfære
Skab Et Wild West Tema For Noget Uventet
Integrer Kæmpe Påskeæg For En Sjov Kontrast
