'Funko Fusion' Game Review: Funko Needs More Time Inside The Box
Everyone either owns a Pop! Funko because they’ve been gifted one or they’re simply just into them, and if you don’t own one then you know someone that does. It’s difficult to resist the desire to own a Pop! Funko is a small collectible that features the small body and large head of one of your favourite characters. For me, it’s a must-have. They’ve never been used for playing like toys, as they…

According to some sources, the Battlestar Galactica from the original 1978 series was over 500 years old when the series began. The battlestars served as faster-than-light capable battle cruisers, fighter carriers, and mobile command centers for the fleet of the Twelve Colonies. In addition to the protection provided by its viper squadrons, the Galactica had turbolasers, fusion missiles, and shields. Series creators said the Galactica was about one mile long, and fan estimations based on the scale model put it around 4,741 feet. A big battlestar for a big job… on Sci-Fi Saturday!!

self-rec meme
Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favourite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers.
Thank you for thinking of me, @oldshrewsburyian! I think it's hard for any author to make a choice of favorites, but here are five of mine that are special to me in one way or another:
Forever Taking Leave (Battlestar Galactica, Kara/Lee, fusion with The Sixth Sense) The premise of this story is that Kara can see dead people, and when Lee miraculously returns from his reported death at the very beginning of the series, Kara decides it's desperately important not to allow herself to find out for sure if he really survived or not. She can't bear to know. This becomes the root of her emotionally avoidant behavior throughout the series. It's an AU rewrite of the whole show that tries to cast a lot of canon in a different light due to one supernatural element, and I hope it embraces the bittersweet longing and confusion that belongs at the heart of the Kara/Lee dynamic.
Two Shoes for a Hat (Ritchie Holmes, first meeting) I've written three stories now in the Ritchie!verse and I'm very fond of them all, but this first one holds a special place in my heart. I don't know, there's just something about its tone that seems right. Bonkers and heartfelt, as it should be.
The Better Part of Valour (ACD Holmes, Greek Interpreter fix-it) I love rewriting canon stories, I love outsider point-of-view, and I love giving secondary characters their moment in the light. Mr. Melas is one of my favorite minor characters in Doyle's stories, and it was lovely -- if also a little harrowing -- to get inside his head. It was written as a gift, and my recipient had asked for a story that showed Holmes's kindness and Watson's cleverness; I hope this does.
Rewriting History (ACD Holmes, WWI, epistolary) Epistolary fic, my beloved! There's something about the back-and-forth of letters that opens such a wide field for character study. I will never tire of Holmes and Watson in conversation.
Spider stories (221B Baker Towers) I worked so hard on this one, LOL, I feel like I should include it on this list for effort alone :) It was exhausting and challenging to write (and to vid, as well), but I cared a lot about it and I think that shows. The central premise of 221B Baker Towers -- that the Moriarty of this world is not a single man, but a great organization indeed: structural prejudice, inequality, and war -- is such a rich idea. It deserves more stories.
Tagging @sanguinarysanguinity, @sanspatronymic, @thetimemoves, @odamakilock, and @hawkland, if any of you would like to jump in!

Fic writer interview
Merci pour le tag, @almost-a-class-act ! :D
How many works do you have on AO3?
372 :D
Most are fics, but I do have a little under 30 fic covers hanging around there 😊
What's your total AO3 word count?
988 968 words! My goal this year is to crack the million xD
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Fun fact, this top has not changed in years and my more recent writing habits mean it's unlikely to ever change at this point xD
S.O.S. Ecrits Avec De L’Air (aka SEADLA) an unfinished Tony Stark/Loki fic in which everything starts because Loki stops Tony from commiting suicide.
We Shall Have Peace, a fic in which Steve Rogers comes out of an 80+ years long captivity to discover Loki turned the earth into a utopia.
Dots: 2-4, 1-2-3, 1-3-6. A fic in which Tony Stark is a university student, and Loki is his blind teacher, and they fall in love.
Wooer Wooed. A fic in which Tony Stark tries to teach Loki how to woo someone and ends up surprised by the results.
Corny Lines For Thanksgiving A fic in which Tony Stark sees Loki iand Thor interact from his office window and mistakes them for a couple.
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes! I like showing my appreciation and it feels more polite :D
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
Say it three times and it will be done, in which Loki sends Tony Stark a very sad letter to tell him he's giving up on him and their not-relationship.
What the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
Oh shit, I've written so many of these xD But I guess I'll go with a top 3:
Clark Kent, of Krypton because it's one of the ones where the protagonist's situation changes the most drastically.
Once more, with kissing because the protag ends in what would probably be my dream configuration for any kind of romantic relationship.
All on my own because it's probably one of the more hopeful endings I have.
Honorable mention to A summer evening in Philly. for being the most recent :P
Do you write crossovers?
Rarely. I did write a Battlestar Galactica x The Walking Dead crossover once for a friend, but that's about it. When I mix fandom, I gravitate more towards fusions :P
The fic is called Killing zombies (and other fun activities), if you're curious.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
I think I got maybe...three angry comments on AO3 so far? One was pissed because the protag hated his stepmother, another was angry that I'd posted negative meta on a ship, and iirc the last one accused me of making a character stupid because they didn't understand a word as a little kid who was communicating in a language that wasn't his first language.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I try my hand at it on occasion x) It's probably not the greatest but so far no one told me it sucked so we'll see how it goes in the future xD
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I'm aware.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
If I rememeber correctly there were projects of translation into Chinese and Russian for some of my fics, but I can't recall if they were completed or not xD
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No. I toyed at the idea but it fizzled out, mostly because of me.
What's your all-time favorite ship?
I honestly have never thought of it that way tbh xD
But my two oldest ships are Taichi/Yamato from Digimon Adventure and Hyoga/Shun from Saint Seiya. I've liked those since I was a kid. As in, I first discovered Hyoga/Shun when I was under 10 so.
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
I'm not going to answer that one, I don't want to jinx it xD
What are your writing strengths?
I think I'm good at dialogue and worldbuilding.
What are your writing weaknesses?
I struggle a little more with description, and also The Doing Of The Sex. Also I sometimes worry that I do the writing equivalent of same-facing my characters, but I guess it might also be because I have A Type.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
More often than not, saying "[x] said in German" or "[x] switched to Italian" is more than enough. It's clear, concise and avoids the two main risks of foreign dialogues: losing the readers who don't understand the target language and (if you're not fluent yourself) making a grammar mistake that takes readers who are more fluent than you out of the story. (Example: I've recently stumbled across a Band of Brothers fic where Liebgott used Sie to address Webster. Sie is a formal form of address, which I guarantee Lieb wouldn't use for his fellow soldiers, especially not Web, and so seeing it made be tick hard even if I didn't spontaneously understand the rest of the sentence.)
That being said! All rules are made to be broken, and I've written a fic that was intentionally in 3 different languages and another where a significant chunk of the dialogue is just em dashes with footnotes. In the first case, I used the script format and the language juxtaposition to mimick the sort of humor you'd get from a more fast-pace, visual medium like a movie or show (and also because I enjoyed the idea of a fic that was a bit of an in-joke with readers who mostly understood all three languages).
In the second case, I used the em-dashes (intersped with the few words the POV character understands) to force the reader into the protagonist' shoes, because the whole plot revolves around her distress and frustration about being unable to understand the language her family speak.
So, you know. Do what you want x)
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
It was a very, very intense plagiaristic fic for Lord of the Rings but with Harry Potter style wizards. I don't think it was very good, but I rememeber having fun with it.
What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?
For a long time, that fandom was Digimon Adventure but I've done it now so... non, for now, I think x)
What's your favorite fic you've written?
... I'm gonna cheat and link you to my AO3 porfolio for my top 11 :P
Tagging : @takingoffmyshoes, @kyttwrites, @nemainofthewater, @ghostinthelibrarywrites, @liesmyth and @talysalankil :)

20 questions for fic writers
approximately twenty years late for these twenty questions, but i'm here now so that counts rights? thank you to @aidaronan for the tag!
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 40
2. What’s your total AO3 word count? 711,322
3. What fandoms do you write for? currently stranger things, but i've got star wars (prequels + rebels) w.i.p.s in the google docs that i'd still love to see the light of day
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? steddie overtook my oldest fics, so most remarkable thing is my number one, with two other fics in the same universe behind it (frozen with joy and the world throws its light), followed by all the missing girls and brutalist masterpieces
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? i try to respond to all of them because i'm trying to be more outgoing in fandom spaces; i also feel very humbled + touched by the response to my steddie stories so i try to stay engaged there when i can
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? i don't think anything is particularly angsty from stranger things -- i try to lean into optimism and hopeful endings when i can, even if something tragic happens with the story; so i would have to say the untitled companion kallus au out of rebels fandom, since part two ends on a bit of a downer.
(though various stories out of the eating in the underworld series probably qualify, especially when you're reading them chronologically...)
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? i like to think the whole of most remarkable thing, and other b-sides and rarities as the happiest, i would say? mainly because the idea of steve + eddie, alive in 2023 and thriving with their family, careers, and marriage is very dear to me.
8. Do you get hate on fics? not really
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? yes; allow me to be pretentious and say that it's typically serving a plot purpose, and often tender, sometimes silly, sometimes spicy
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? i like a good fusion, mainly; i think the only crossover i've written + published is an ancient avengers and battlestar galactica fic
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? not to my knowledge
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? yes! remarkable has french + spanish translations, and crozen with joy also has a french translation
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? no; i'm a solitary creature by nature, and also anxious to a fault so i've never felt it was something i'd be able to do + do right by my co-author.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship? i love steddie but i gotta be honest here on tumblr dot com: kalluzeb
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? i pray every day that i'll finish all my wips; but my greatest fear is that i'll never conclude the star wars f+f au, even though the google doc is halfway written
16. What are your writing strengths? once again imma be a little pretentious and say crafting the story itself; i think i'm a really solid plotter + have good outlines that allow me to tell the story i want to tell
17. What are your writing weaknesses? probably being too wordy, and having a hard time trimming + cutting things; i have a whole google doc devoted to passages i've loved that i've excised from stories but just couldn't get rid of entirely -- i'm definitely a director's cut bitch
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? i've encorporated mando'a into a handful of star wars stories, and used a few russian terms of endearment for at me too someone is looking (rebels) -- so i think if it serves a purpose to the story, you gotta do it.
19. First fandom you wrote for? star trek, i think?? maybe stargate: sg1??
20. Favorite fic you’ve written? i love all of my children equally but differently, but gun to my head? dogfish or the other hand knocking, because both were so interesting + challenging to write in very different ways
not tagging anyone because i'm so late to the game, but if you wanna play just say i called your name!!

Funko Fusion Preview - Get Your Head In The Game - Game Informer
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/funko-fusion-preview-get-your-head-in-the-game-game-informer/
Funko Fusion Preview - Get Your Head In The Game - Game Informer
If you’re a fan of a popular movie or TV show from any time in the last several decades, chances are, they’ve made a Funko Pop figurine of the main characters. The brand is ubiquitous in pop culture, so it was only a matter of time before it got a big video game adaptation. This sort of game could easily be a cheap cash grab, but after watching a preview demo and listening to one of the head developers speak about it, I’m confident that Funko Fusion is much more than that.
You’ve never played a game by developer 10:10 Games, but you probably know the work of its staff – the founders of the studio are some of the former architects of the Lego games developed by Traveler’s Tales, including CEO Jon Burton, COO Paul Flanagan, and design director Arthur Parsons, who leads the demo. He boots up a level based on John Carpenter’s 1982 horror classic The Thing, which signifies one of the main elements that separates this title from the kid-friendly Lego titles; this game is rated T for Teen and references loads of media properties that are decidedly not for children. Still, the world is charming and lighthearted, so when a Funko Pop is impaled through the side of the head, it’s more goofy than ghastly.
[embedded content]
Parsons, playing as Kurt Russel’s MacReady, fights off some Norwegians using the game’s third-person shooting mechanics. According to Parsons, all characters have melee and ranged options, though they had to get creative for some characters. While He-Man uses his signature sword, OJ (the protagonist from Jordan Peele’s Nope) swings around a miniature version of one of the inflatable tube men from his movie. Parsons dispatches enemies easily, which I imagine is due to the game’s relatively low difficulty, his experience working on it as a developer, and the fact that every enemy has an outrageously large head, ideal for headshots.
Funko Fusion will ultimately feature over 20 IPs in the game, mostly from NBCUniversal properties, though they’ve also made licensing deals with other companies.
Here’s a list of some that we know so far:
Back to the Future
Battlestar Galactica
Child’s Play
Five Nights at Freddy’s
Hot Fuzz
Invincible
Jaws
Jurassic World
Knight Rider
Masters of the Universe
Megan
The Mummy
Nope
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
Shaun of the Dead
The Thing
The Umbrella Academy
Voltron
The Walking Dead
Xena: Warrior Princess
Each IP will include playable characters, and many will include levels, though the scope of each level will vary by the franchise. Some, like The Thing, will get a proper, full-sized level, while others exist as secret cameo levels players can unlock in other worlds. Poking around the frozen outpost in the demo, Parsons travels through a portal to reach a world based on Shaun of the Dead, where he has to escort a car of civilians to the safety of the Winchester. While there, he transforms into He-Man and shows off the zombie enemies, which turn the hero into a zombified version of himself. Even though it’s just a cameo level, it’s much larger than I initially expected, likely packing plenty of easter eggs in for fans of the movie.
Players can move through these levels in whatever order they want to progress through the game’s main story. Parsons explains that this modular approach allows them to continue to support the game after launch by easily adding new characters and levels into the mix. The first instance of this is with the game’s pre-order bonus, which includes Rick Grimes and Michonne from The Walking Dead, complete with alternate outfits.
It’s been years since the last Lego game, and with this team of developers, I’m excited to watch them attempt to fill that gap. Luckily, I won’t have to wait long. Funko Fusion is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC on September 13.

20 questions for fic writers!
Thank you @orange-peony and @wellbelesbian for tagging me in this game! I feel sure that others have tagged me but I have become incapable of reading my activity feed.
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
14! This feels both reasonable and correct. (one is a self-meta and one is a round robin fic)
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
204,176 this feels correct and unreasonable.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Carry On, In Other Lands, apparently Check Please though I haven't published the thing yet.
Historically I've written for X-men the movie and Battlestar Galactica (BSG). Most of the fics in my profile are for BSG, and all of my X-men fic was on ff.n 🤷
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos
Number 1 is Good at Something by a ridiculous margin. Number 2 is A Dangerous Affinity by a normal margin Numbers 3-5 are fics in a series I wrote for Battlestar Galactica: Proof Positive (third in the series), Proving Grounds (first in the series), and Prove that you can do it better (second in the series), which I posted 8 years ago. So they've had a while to accrue readers.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do... most of the time. Sometimes I get overwhelmed and don't respond for a while. I intend to respond to comments, I don't always do so.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
A BSG fic called Grief. Which is actually about how horrible it feels to realize that your grief has lessened over time.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I suppose this is a deep spoiler, but I think A Dangerous Affinity has the happiest ending of anything I've written. It's happy for the characters (who don't die) as well as for the crossover setting it's based in.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not really? The only thing I'd consider borderline "hate" is when someone bookmarked a fic I adore (An Arranged Meeting) with a long comment that included both of these phrases:
"you have to buy some changes in personality depiction" and "the random timeset of the vignettes is hard to follow."
And, listen. If you are reading a deep AU and you can't understand why people who have a meaningful change in their early professionally formative years might end up as different people, I don't know what to say to you. Also, like, I wrote it nonlinearly. That was on purpose! I love nonlinear narratives, I would change nothing.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yeah. Yep. All kinds? My BSG ship was het, I've written some femslash for Carry On, as well as a...um, fair amount of mascslash (is this a thing? I'm going with it), and in my Check Please fic there's an orgy, so. Lots of kinds of smut, though, as others have mentioned, I tend to trade in tender smut above all else.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Yeah, those 200k words up there? 125k of them is a Carry On/Scholomance crossover/fandom fusion. But the characters don't cross over, so... Shrug.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
nope
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
nope
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
nope, but I *want to*
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
God, this is a hard question! I cannot. I will not. Pacey/Sage. There. Now you know.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I started writing a story in BSG that was based around the idea that Kara was adopted by Tigh and Ellen, and I wrote some stuff I really really love for it, but I lost the mojo around BSG around the time I was starting on that story.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Figurative language.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I really have to be yanked into the story I'm writing. It's difficult for me to find motivation to write unless the story is dragging me along kicking and screaming, or I've got some kind of external motivation to write. I feel very lucky to have had a lot of
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I think it can be necessary. I did it in ADA, and it was necessary, and I added translations in the title so it showed up on hover and end notes. I think that sometimes it's done when it's not necessary and then it bugs me, but as long as I'm being given adequate context to continue reading on, I'm happy. It's hard to write because inevitably when you're doing it, it's because someone is a native speaker/fluent, but likely you as the writer aren't, so you need to get someone who is to advise, which is not easy to do in fandom. I've been lucky to have friends and connections who can help with those things, but it's not a given.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
whispered Animorphs.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
Good at Something. Closely tied with Holsom Timeloop/Friday Prime, which no one but @petedavidsonscock has put their eyes upon, and it's not yet finished, but I love it so much.
I'm tagging @fireinmywoods, @shrekgogurt, @petedavidsonscock, @facewithoutheart, and @cutestkilla if any of you haven't already done this

holy shit on a stick. 102 tl;dr
kuaidul... says stuff?
yuamu fusions catgirl witch with witch to make ultima witch, lord of galactica is destroyed.
yuudias gets The Case of the Floppy Hand. he also wins via rex after receiving a pep talk from kuaidul
the spacetime rift sucks in an unconsious yuuga and all the sevens variants band together to send him back to his time via curry shuttle(him returning is not shown)
yuamu gets snatched up by something. it was some strange black thing. she leaves her glasses behind. she is probably not otes and instead might be the s3 villain.
yuuna is shown with the modern goha logo for some reason.
yuudias, yuuhi, damamu, and epoch leave to get yuamu back.
in the preview, there is a glimpse of a vague, cloudish, black alien thing. it is probably the thing that yoinked yuamu.
