Furnature cleaning: what you should know

When it comes to furniture cleaning, there are many factors to consider, such as different fabrics, patterns, colors, sizes, and more. This complexity makes furniture cleaning more challenging than carpet cleaning. Unfortunately, many carpet cleaners either don't offer furniture cleaning or only provide services for a limited range of fabrics. In some cases, inexperienced cleaners may even worsen the appearance of furniture. Fortunately, the problems caused by inexperienced cleaners can often be reversed by an expert.

I have invested time and effort in acquiring the necessary training and certifications through the Carpet Cleaning Association (CCA). This enables me to provide various methods of cleaning that are tailored to different fabrics and materials. In this article, I hope to share my expertise and help homeowners and carpet cleaners understand the risks involved in cleaning furniture without proper knowledge of fabrics.

The four most common cleaning codes found on fabric furniture are W, S, WS, and X. These codes represent Wet, Solvent, Wet/Solvent, or Dry Clean Only, respectively.

Wet (W) cleaning means that steam cleaning or hot water extraction can be used to clean the furniture. Water-based cleaning agents and a clean towel can also be used to dab out spots. When cleaning, it is best to use plain white towels to avoid transferring any color dye onto the furniture.

Solvent (S) cleaning indicates that the fabric is sensitive to water, and wetting it may lead to permanent water rings or shrinkage. In such cases, it is recommended to use solvent-based cleaners. Solvents help break down oily spots and subsequently dry the area. Vacuuming the fabric after applying solvents will remove the separated soil.

Driclean (X) is designated for furniture that should only be dry cleaned. Dry cleaning involves vacuuming and brushing to remove dry soils. If your furniture is marked as driclean, you may try cleaning a small, unexposed area to test the effect on the material. However, it should be noted that shrinking, staining, or distortion of the surface pile may occur. While the manufacturer may not recommend it, the decision proceed with dry cleaning is at your own risk Sometimes, the damage by the is less noticeable than stubborn stain.

Fabric labeled WetW) and SolventS) (WS requires the use of both methods on different spots For oily areas, use solvents, while water-based cleaners are suitable for water-based spots. The recommended procedure is to start with wet cleaning methods as they tend to be effective against most stains. If that fails, resort to solvents. Alternatively, if you find solvent cleaning easier, you can prioritize it. Having options is always beneficial.

Unmarked fabrics are also common. If your furniture lacks a cleaning code marking or information, always test cleaning agents before using them. If you can identify the manufacturer, reach out to them for proper cleaning procedures. Most likely, they will provide the necessary guidance.

I cannot sit with my knees together.

My thighs are too big, and my gut pushes them apart when I'm sitting.

I always end up straddling my desk chair because my hips are so wide, and my belly pushes them apart so much.

I have to pick up my belly, and set it on top of my thighs for my to sit with my legs straight.

On the topic of my desk chair, I desperately need a new one. The hydraulics in my chair are shot. I'm over 50lbs too heavy for it.

It cannot keep me at the highest setting anymore. I have to stand up every 15-20m to let it refill with air and come back up.

I mean, all the springs in my sofa are broken too, the only thing keeping support is that it's a pull-out sofa, and there's part of a bed under it for support. My bed is also got a LOT of broken springs, and I can feel the bars across the frame supporting the mattress.

Thankfully the frame can handle about 700lbs so I don't have any fears of that breaking... yet.

I’m rewatching Bad’s vod during the voting shenanigans and OMG it’s NOT about the furniture!!!!! The amount of people who dismiss his very valid criticisms of the voting system because of the furniture law is INFURIATING and it’s not just Forever. Jaiden, Foolish, Cellbit, Richas, even Pomme. all of them do it. The fact that Cellbit gives him a chair at the end of their conversation is such a slap in the face to their entire conversation and just proves that Cellbit wasn’t listening to anything Bad said

A/N: Hi and welcome to the shortest fic I will ever publish. It is currently near 2am and I'm thinking about maid au. Roughly mid to late 30s setting.

With all the gentleness and care of a mouse slipping past a cat the little maid placed her employer's lunch tray upon the coffee table. It was a very fine table, and an even finer tray but you might not know that by the way their owner placed her booted foot upon the tables surface. Really they ressembled more closely those of a laborers footwear, something you might never expect to adorn the feet of a young lady. Certainly not of a young lady who lived in upper Manhattan, with all the fortune and wealth one could dream up.

She lay quite lazily, her head resting upon her hand, pressed comfortably against the plush pillows, one foot tucked up and the other outstretched. The lady wore not a fine dress, no pearls or necklaces, not even an earring, but a dark suit. That of a man's. Most knew her simply as Kate.

Kate struck quite the intriguing figure, and the maid was momentarily entranced. It was difficult not to be. She picked up the coat, which had been discarded without care and went to hang it up, but was startled by Kate's waking.

“Ms. Potts?” She inquired in the form of a yawn.

“Pardon me Ms?” The maid replied.

Kate sat up straighter, turning in her chair to examine the creature who was not in fact her old cook. She wore a face of confusion for a moment before her eyes widened in remembrance. “Sorry, I don't think we've met before?”

“It's Ms-” the maid began to respond, but Kate held up a hand.

“You're first name, please. Mom makes this place too formal.”

“Ophelia then, Ms.”

Kate pouted at this, scrunching her nose in distaste. She sat up a little more and began rolling up her shirtsleeves.

“This is your first day?”

“Yes Ms.” Ophelia attempted a smile.

Kate stood, and started to roll her shirtsleeves down again. She was not petite or particularly ladilike in any way, though her hair was long and in style.

“Please call me Kate. Everyone does.” She stretched a hand out in offering.
