If you don't know what this post is about, "For Your Own Good" or tagged as "Early Amnesia AU" on tumblr is a dialogue-only Gravity Falls fanfiction I've been working on that kinda-sorta follows a Mystery Trio -esque timeline, where Ford doesn't build the portal. To sum it up, the whole fanfiction boils down to:

Researcher Ford: I told you I never wanted to see you again.

Mullet Stan: Dude, I don't know who you are or WTF you're talking about right now, but I'm leaving this town and never coming back. You are never seeing me again after this. I'm probably going to forget you in like five minutes.

You can consider chapters 1-10 to be Act 1 of the fanfic, and I’m taking a break for at least a week, most likely longer. The chapters so far were already written out in advance, and so was a huge reveal, but I still need to tie things together.

Here’s some authors notes/extra stuff about it, some of it might have already been put in the AO3 before or after notes. These are in no particular order:

This takes place 10 years after Ford and Stan were separated, currently they are both 27 about to be 28. Fiddleford is slightly older than them, being in his early 30s.

Ford is unironically the only person who finds Stan’s really dumb jokes funny.

Ford is the one who displays the most behaviours that would be seen from Mabel and Dipper decades later. Like Dipper, he views washing clothes as a waste of time, and like Mabel he ate an entire tube of toothpaste (granted, it was on accident)

While Ford is the more likely of the two to display traits that later present in Mabel and Dipper, it still happens with Stan as well. Stan has a similar nervous-chewing habit that Dipper displays in the OG series, but his only comes out when he’s particularly anxious. In this case, it was because he had nicotine cravings.

The 'That motherfucker is ugly' line that Stan used on Ford can be considered extra ironic because of how much the Stan Twins look like their dad.

Bill Cipher was originally supposed to speak in Times New Bastard (which is Times New Roman except every 7th letter is jarringly sans serif, a meme from tumblr), but AO3 and tumblr don’t let you change the font.

Stan goes out of his way to avoid using Ford and Fiddlefords given names- but this isn’t because he doesn’t know what they are. In the few times he has used their names, it was a sign that he was being sincere.

If you want to wonder whether or not Fiddleford likes Stan back, consider the fact that he could have walked away at any point, and either washed his hands of the whole thing, or just outright reported Stanford to the authorities. 

Bill is more like Discord from MLP - he’s just chaotic, often to the detriment of others, but he isn’t outright malicious (anymore), and he’s too busy SIMPING to cause any real harm. Basically, Bill is Fords patron for studying weirdness - he helps Ford in his research, but the cost that Ford pays is that Bill is able to possess him when he sleeps, and has unlimited access to his brain.

If Ford knew Rick Sanchez, why didn’t Rick see how similar Stan looked and put 2-and-2 together? Easy; Rick didn’t give a single shit about Ford, so he never committed his face or name to memory. Ford himself only remembered Rick because Rick was such a massive, egotistical asshole. If anything, Rick would think Ford is the lesser version of Stan.

Chapter 10 was the first concrete proof that the Stan we’ve been following likely is Stanley Pines and not some similar conman named Stan Malone. The last time Ford saw Stan would have either been when they were teens, so other than Stans commercials for his failed products there’s no way Ford would know what an adult Stan would even look like, and he’d have to use himself as a reference.

Stan has given some insight on his Thalassophobia (fear of the ocean / large bodies of water). In Chapter 10, he told Ford a number of things he escaped, including the trunk of a sinking car, and cement shoes. Cement shoes are either when you tie someone to a cinder block and throw them into a body of water, or when you literally incase their feet in cement, wait for it to dry, and then toss them into a body of water, so they’ll drown. Presumably, these are still things that would have happened to him even if he didn't lose his memories, so why would it give him a fear of the ocean now? Stan Pines in the OG still had a lot of positive memories associated with the ocean - he grew up on the coast, and had a lot of his hopes and dreams tied to the ocean. But without his childhood memories, he has no positive associations with it, only memories of times he almost drowned. 

Ford himself is not a touchy guy. The reason he hugs Stan even though it isn’t reciprocated is because from his perspective, this is his twin brother who is in pain and has been suffering all by himself for a long time. And Stan - at least how Ford remembers him - had a very touch-based love language. Fords doing it because he thinks it’d comfort him.

Stan seems pretty calm and chill for someone who’s been kidnapped by a ‘stranger’. This isn’t because he’s an overall chill guy because of amnesia, no he’s super pissed and the second he knows he’s free he will let them know that with his words, and incredible violence. He’s remaining calm because he’s been imprisoned and kidnapped enough times to know that pitching a fit or lashing out at his captors won’t do him any favours.

Fiddleford is still married to Emma-May and they do have Tate. But it's one of those lavender marriages (they're both gay and mutually bearding each other)

I've seen some people put together some headcanons for Vickie and thought I'd share some of mine!! I love her so much Vickie my beloved blorbo...

First and foremost: truckgirl Vickie truckgirl Vickie truckgirl Vickie!!!!!! She drives a burgundy 1977 GMC Sierra she fixed with her dad over summer of '84, and she loves it. It's her baby. She has probably seriously considered becoming a mechanic as a career, and she loooves getting her hands dirty.

Has definitely named her truck. Can do that cool trick on flat roads where, if you shift gears smoothly, the car will keep rolling without gas! She uses this to woo Robin!! I know it in my heart!!!

I saw a post ages ago about drag racing in Hawkins because there's nothing else to do in bumfuck nowhere and tbh I see Vickie doing that too. Maybe her and Steve have bonded over driving fast or what have you?

She can do french and Dutch braids on herself, but gets a bit mixed up when trying to do others!

Her clothing aesthetic is sort of all over the place but she loves patterns. Classic patterns like houndstooth and paisley or more modern colour block or squiggly patterns. She probably mismatches patterns but colour coordinates.

I also think she likes long heavy skirts in winter, and sundresses in summer. Jeans and trousers are good but don't have the same patterns. Probably owns a few coveralls for working on cars. I see her rocking an overall look too. Anyways point is she's cute cute cute!

Idk if I want her to have siblings or not maybe she's either an eldest or the family baby?

Listen...I would probably say this even if Amybeth wasn't in AWaE...but also. Vickie loves Anne of Green Gables. The sense of wonder and delight in everyday things really speaks to her. She's a simple small town girl, and sometimes it's complicated but sometimes it really isn't.

She knows she likes girls, but it's easier to only like boys. So even though she's had crushes on girls before she hasn't really done anything about them until she got a crush on and started getting vibes from Robin!

She thinks Robin is funny and charming. Like Robin will blurt out some sassy remark and Vickie have to stifle a giggle. Robin says goodnight to her trumpet as she puts it away and Vickie is like 😍😍

Lots of people whisper about Robin and Steve being weirdos but Vickie thinks they're cute! Yeah maybe they're incomprehensible in terms of whatever their deal is, but Vickie is entranced by this odd behaviour and wishes to know more. When stobin have silent conversations solely through eye contact and eyebrow movement at bizarre times Vickie's first thought is not "what is wrong with these freaks?" (derogatory) it is "what is wrong with these freaks?" (wants to put them in a jar)

I really don't get his side of his relationship with Charles and that's something I forgot to ask from last chapter. because the heck was that shit of letting Charles do stuff. like, first he acts like a big protective brother, then he starts kinda controlling and then he goes on to do the alpha version of dick meassurent with Max? I desperately need some light on this. is it gonna be cleared some day in the future or am I never getting that answer?

3. and the fact that Charles got the end of the stupid fight like what the actual fuck is wrong with people in this society. this is not a movie where two idiots fight for the damsel in distress. do better *judgemental look*

4. very time Max uses his alpha voice, a fairy looses their wings. and he himself looses a part of his heart. I find it awfully confusing that he keeps doing it over and over and over, and then dares to make me feel bad about him feeling bad about Charles feeling bad and the action itself. fuck him honestly. I mean, Charles' on the task, but you know what I mean

5. is the 2025 ferrari line up happening here as well? does Max knows LH is gonna be Charles' new teammate or how's that situation here, because I feel like that could be trouble. wonder why.

phil dunphy and "innocent" incompetence

Rewatching modern family and it's shocking to me how Phil Dunphy for a very long time was pushed by MF fans as the ideal husband. At first glance, he is a goofball, kind husband with childlike wonder who helps counterbalance Claire's uptightness and seriousness.

But in reality, Phil is like what many men are expected to be in their married relationships : useless. He is completely useless to Claire, which she brings up all the time : lets her do all the chores, all of the home rearing tasks even though he works so little he might as well be a stay at home husband. Him being so childish and refusing to enforce boundaries with his own children by acting like an adult is a very funny joke for a sitcom, but if it were real life it would make Phil a terrible husband, father and a complete burden on Claire who now has to take care of her husband's incompetence on top of raising her 3 children. If you've ever been in a situation where you had to work with someone else, but the other person doesn't know how to make themselves useful, so you have no choice but to micromanage them, then you KNOW how exhausting that is, even more so than doing it alone.

And before people "it's just a sitcom, it's not real" I KNOW. But there are so many people who watch this show and genuinely believe that Phil is great. I read a post raising the same concerns as me, and people were like "Phil is clueless, so he's harmless" and honestly something sparked in my brain. Women are always expected to forgive men's complete incompetence because they are "clueless". Running a household is after all a woman's task, and men can't be expected to ever learn how to do it, even if they're married with 3 kids. So women need to just happily accept the heavy burden, and accept to deal with a manchild as a husband. Not only do they have to accept this burden, but they should be grateful.

As if that alone wasn't enough, Phil constantly disrespects Claire. The fact that people (and that includes me on first watch), think his behaviour towards his own wife is funny is telling. He is constantly disrespectful of her, openly flirting with other women and openly crossing the line, such as staring at other women when his own wife is talking to him or hesitating when others flirt with him. And people say "oh but it's normal to still be attracted to others when you're married!" but there's a complete difference between attraction and his sleazy behaviour. That's what annoys me so much, not Phil Dunphy who is a gimmick character, but people who are insisting his behaviour is totally acceptable and that's just what a normal, healthy marriage looks like. The whole show, Phil belittles Claire, jokes about her uptightness even though she has to be strict because she literally gets no help, even makes a "marriage is prison" joke (which Claire does call him out on it), he has the most divorced dad energy I've ever seen. And yet people expect women to see him as a perfect cute baby husband who is harmless, and not what he actually is, a grown fucking man.

I keep thinking about how many of my girlfriends dated incompetent, lazy, dependent and pathetic men and excused their behaviour saying "oh no he just doesn't understand thesse things!" "yeah he forgot my birthday for the 3rd time in a row but you know how he is!" "oh yeah i hate it when he does that but you know how guys are!" Women constantly give men the benefit of the doubt (while never offering women the same benefit) and they use it to get away with being more useless.

This just sums up a big problem I have with dating. Women from birth to adulthood are raised into being the perfect wives and eventually the perfect mothers. I mean just look at the women in MF, Claire, a perfect household leader who takes care of everything that needs to be done for her family while her husband gets away with being a disney dad, and Gloria, the hot trophy woman who giggles and makes snarky replies when her husband throws racist or objectifying comments at her. They have created fantasy stereotypes of what a woman should be like that caters to men (all while denegrating said fantasies), but have never done so for men. Men are not, and have never been taught to be good husbands and fathers. The few advice they get on this does not come from women, or with women's needs in mind, but from other men, with the idea of impressing other men down the line.

was akk really protecting kan?

ok so i was rewatching ep 2 of the eclipse earlier and you know that whole scene where they argue with the teacher and where kan then gets into a fight with akk about taking the teacher's side? idk but something about akk's behaviour/reaction during that fight with kan struck me as weird

from what we've seen from him he's not the kind of person to shy away from conflict. he has no problems getting into arguments and protecting the things he stands for (see the school rules for example)

but when kan is yelling at him he's just so quiet? he doesn't say a word and that's very odd for someone who's never shutting up (pretty much the only person so far we've seen able to make him shut up is ayan when he's flirting with akk lol)

kan yells "What the heck did you do? Why did you take the teacher’s side instead of Wat’s? Do you want the best student title?"

and akk just. doesn't respond?? at all?? he just stares at kan, looking almost a little... sad, i suppose??

it's wat who tries to calm kan down, standing up against kan for akk who's just not defending himself at all.

then akk says "I’m sorry. I just didn’t want things to go too far." and again, he's not really specifying anything, he's not going into any details, still not really defending himself against kan's anger.

it's wat who then comes up with a reason as to why akk has sided with the teacher while akk just stands there. all he has to do is to nod when kan asks if what wat said is true. and even then he can't even look kan in the eye when kan asks whether it's true. like, wat is explaining things to kan, then kan looks at akk and akk looks down, avoiding kan's eyes. then kan asks "is that true?" and akk nods, still with his face down before he finally looks back at kan. and that just seems kinda weird for someone who's usually very determined and confident when fighting for the things he thinks are right. and it just makes me wonder... is akk hiding something?

why couldn't akk defend himself? why did wat need to speak for akk? if what wat said was true, then why didn't akk say so himself? (this is so odd that even kan wonders about that: "Why didn’t tell me earlier?")

i was wondering about all this and what i'm thinking now is that maybe akk wasn't protecting wat, but rather ayan? in that case it would make sense why he'd keep quiet when kan yells at him. bc how can he admit to his friends that he's protecting the one person he's been fighting against this whole time when he can barely even admit to himself that he's started to care about said person?

plus, akk was already trying to protect ayan earlier in the classroom. there's a moment after ayan has stood up and started arguing with the teacher where akk tells ayan to stop it and tries to pull him back down onto the seat. but ayan isn't listening and argues with the teacher even more until she's pissed. in that moment the argument is very much between ayan and the teacher while wat has nearly been forgotten and it's only when the teacher is furious at ayan, yelling at ayan that akk gets involved.

and then also later in the fight with kan the drama also makes a point of showing us akk's reaction when wat says that ayan was pretty cool. what's the point of suddenly mentioning ayan specifically in that scene and when ayan wasn't even involved in it at all? bc the fight with kan is about kan and akk and wat and their friendship. kan was angry bc he felt like akk was betraying their friend. ayan has no part in it at all. so what's the purpose of name-dropping ayan when the scene wasn't even about him? or was it?

(oh and another thing... as i've said in the beginning, the only person who was able to make akk shut up so far was ayan. funny how akk was shutting up in this scene lol)

so yeah long story short, i'm wondering if wat has got it right that akk took indeed the teacher's side to protect someone someone, but that in reality that someone wasn't wat but rather ayan

A/N: Thank you sweety! I'm so happy you liked it, and I hope you are gonna like this too! I'm sorry if it's short, but I have to admit I've never written something about Jepser nor I've never thought about him in that way, and it was a funny challenge, hope you'll appreciated what I've written❤

Working for Kaz Brekker meant that your life was in danger six days on seven when the luck was on your side, but that didn't stop you from having fun.

Not only you were part of the dregs, but you also were Nina's best friend, and that meant that no woman and no man had any chance to say no to you, not when you flirted with them.

It wasn't a secret that you loved fun, and just like Nina and Jesper you loved having people's eyes on you. Kaz knew that the three of you could easily flirt your way out from any trouble if needed to.

"Green or red?" you asked Nina with two dress in your hands.

"Have you seen yourself in the mirror? Definitely green." she answered without looking, she was too focus tailoring her makeup in the mirror.

From the high of his ruthlessly, Kaz Brekker had given to all of you the free night, and you had decided to go out with your friends and have fun.

"Still try to make Jesper admitting his feelings?" asked Nina while you brushed your hair.

"Jesper is Jesper, he flirts with everyone. If he doesn't a move, then there is an entire city that is waiting to do it." you said with more confident than you felt. Jesper Fahey was the boy who had fucked up your mind since the beginning, with his witty remarks and his flirty personality, you had fell for him as a kruge fell in Kaz's pocket.

You didn't want to have to go and console yourself with strangers, but at the same time you couldn't wait Jesper forever.

Nina chuckled helping you with your hair and then walking with you downstairs. "Let see if we can find a worthy partner for you, Y/n."

They reached Matthias and Jesper outside the Slat; you had the suspect that Inej would have stayed sat on Kaz's window all night keeping him company.

Matthias had to shut Jesper's mouth when you girls arrived. He was devouring you with his eyes and the Fjerdan couldn't hold a smirk.

Damn it. Did you plan to seduce all Ketterdam that night? Because he would easily surrender at you.

When you approached he composed himself. "I can't decide if you look amazing in that dress or if you'd look better without it."

He winked and saw a little blush on your cheek, but if you were shy you hid it very well with a sly smirk. "I guess you're gonna have to see yourself."

"It's a primise then." he said before the four of you started walking around the streets of Ketterdam.

Your relationship had always been like that. Jesper couldn't deny that his comments had become more true and spontaneous, he couldn't help it, and it was hilarious for the people around you, because it was oblivious how you both felt toward each other for everyone but you.

"Love, I don't think we can afford a table here." Matthias said to Nina once they stopped in front of one of the most fancy pub in Ketterdam.

"Leave me and Y/n deal with that." she winked taking your arm with hers and bringing you at the counter where the owner, a beautiful Kaelish woman, stood.

Jesper stayed at the door with Matthias looking you and Nina flirting with the woman. He saw how her eyes were on you while you giggled and smiled at her. He couldn't hear what you were saying, but it seemed that it was working because now the woman had her arms rested on the counter, her face close to yours.

"Hard, isn't it?" asked knowingly Matthias beside him. "See the girl you like flirting with someone else and obliviously being reciprocated."

"They are Nina and Y/N, they always do...that" Jepser said waving his hands in the air to point you girls. "You are the one who find it strange."

"Maybe you are right, but it's one of the things I love about her. But still, it's not a shame admitting you are jealous...I am too."

He didn't have time to answer that you and Nina arrived with two huge smiles on. I am not jealous. "Guess who has a table as a gift of the house?"

"We do, don't we?" asked Jesper excited.

"Yes! Come." you said taking his arm and bringing him at the table with Nina and Matthias behind you.

"You have to thanks Y/n, she did all the work. The owner couldn't take off her eyes from her as she talked." said Nina smirking as Jesper shifted on his seat.

"I was lucky she liked my accent." you waved your hand in the hand as it was nothing.

Nina chuckled. "More like she wanted to hear you moaning with your accent in her bedroom."

Jesper and Matthias choked themself with their drinks while you started laughing. "At least my beautiful accent gave us a table and free drinks."

You enjoyed the night, drinking and dancing. Jesper knew that people flirted with you everyday, but he thought that someone was pranking him that night. Every time he turned around someone was talking with you, making you giggle or blush. He was getting crazy.

Couldn't they just...walk away?

He moved closer to you at some point and took you into a conversation everytime he saw someone approaching.

You noticed that something annoyed Jesper, but you couldn't figure out what. You all were having fun, even if with your disbelief he hadn't danced with anyone but you. Was he ill?

"I'll go and take two drinks, stay here dove." he said in your ear walking away and disappearing behind the crowd.

You stayed there for while when a young man of few years older than you approached smiling. "You must be the star of the night because no one is shining like you."

You tried your best to not laugh. "And you must be in the wrong place, the circus in on the other side of the city."

"Ouch, pretty and quick-witten. A letal combination." he said amused.

You shrugged. "What can I say, Ketterdam made me."

You two kept talking about silly things keeping the flirt in the air. He was the one more eager, you were just waiting Jesper but the company of a pretty man wasn't bad at all.

You were laughing at one of his joke when an arm took your waist and squeezed you. "Piss off dude, she is with me."

You watched Jesper with widened eyes as he burned the man with his eyes.

"She didn't seem so to me." said the man annoyed.

"Jesper!" you didn't know what was happening. You had been talking with people all night and he hadn't said a word, so why now was different?

"It's fine, I'll go." you and Jesper remained alone and he looked like nothing happened.

"Drink?" he said offering you one glass.

You shoke your head astonished and walked away toward the door. You needed fresh air and stay as far away as possible from him.

"Y/n!" you heard his voice behind you but you didn't care. What was wrong with him? He had never had such behaviour in none of your nights out. "Y/n wait!" He followed you outside, the drinks forgotten somewhere inside. "Tell me what's wrong."

"What was that?" you asked crossing your arm in front of your chest.

"What was what?" he said confused making you rolling your eyes.

"You were...rude. You had no reason to threat him like you did."

You could see in his eyes that he didn't know what to say. He looked for an good lie but it was hard under your inquisitors eyes. "Y-you were suppose to be with me!"

"So? That never stopped you from finding other partners." you raised an eyebrow obliviously.

He gave a quick look around, as if something could help him, but when his eyes fell on you again he knew he had to tell the true otherwise he could loose you.

"I was annoyed, alright? All those people flirting with you, saints I couldn't even turn around a moment that someone had already approached you." he agitated his hands in the air while you widened your eyes.

"Why should it bother you anyway?" you asked defensive.

He looked at you astonished, as if you were asking why the water was wet. "Because I like you! Hadn't been oblivious enough these past months?!" Now your mouth was a bit hopen, speechlees. He seemed to notice what he had said after few seconds. "Oh...it would be too late saying that it's not true, wouldn't it?"

You nodded quickly. "Yes, definitely too late."

"Well, you weren't suppose to find out like this. I had planned something like a date, maybe with some candles and a good view, but I guess that in front of a pub in the Barrel sounds fine too." he tried to joke shrugging while you were still processing his words.

"You are still in time, the night is not over for that date." you sounded casual but you couldn't hold your smile while you said it.

He looked at you surprised before smiling like a child. "Let's tell Nina and Matthias we are leaving then."

You walked inside the pub, both smiling like idiots, before you felt a hand on you wrist that turned you around and a pair of soft lips on yours. Jesper was kissing you while he kept you close with his right hand on your waist and the other on your cheek, and you didn't think twice about putting your hands behind his neck.

"I have to make sure no one will flirt with you again tonight." he said seductively with a smirk a few inches from your mouth making you blush.

Supernatural season 2 review (part 2)

Irene and I have finished watching Supernatural season 2 (we're already on season 3), so here it comes my review on it. I like this season more than the first one: we already know this supernatural world and have learnt to love the brothers, and since the big bad guy isn't dead yet we want to see what happens next. The plot evolves from the first season, we understand many things we didn't before and it is all suddenly way more interesting (meanwhile I feel like the most interesting thing in the first season were the single episodes). Sam's psychics abilities have a purpose and we learn there's sort of a pattern involving other people, the same age as Sam, who have all the same destiny: to become warriors for an upcoming war. In this season we have the chance to see more of Azazel (the yellow-eyed demon), what he's capable of and what he has done to Sam (and the consequences of it, including how Dean has to deal with all of this, meanwhile being in a terrible position). At the end of the season, even if he's been defeated by John himself, we know Sam is not back to normal (and we also know the truth about Azazel is not totally revealed, since we now know Mary had already met the demon before the night she died).

Season 1 ends with the car accident, so the first thing we see in the first episode of the second season is the brothers and John in the hospital. Dean is almost dead and has no chance of surviving, but John makes a deal with Azazel and dies instead of Dean (sacrificing the colt too). I understand why John would do that (one of the not-many-things I understand about his behaviour), but I also think this is one of the many things he has done that leads to Dean suffering and blaming it all over himself. No wonder why this boy behaves the way he behaves: he has all of this emotional pain he carries with him since he was basically four years old. Of course Dean doesn't talk about his father's death and acts like it's not affecting him, although it does, a lot. Sam's reaction is different, but I think it was very appropriate: the thing is most upset about is the fact that he and his father had never actually gotten along very well and that they had a fight right before John's death. I also think that both brothers haven't had quite the opportunity to grief from their father's death (just be sad for his absence and think about their true feelings for him), because they were to focus on bigger events involving John's last moments with them. Another thing that keeps them occupied is the main problem in this season, Azazel and all that he causes.

There's a thing I forgot about and that, as I rewatched the season, surprised me: Dean already wants to quit hunting. The fact that he is even more fed up than Sam shows us that in reality, as much as he wanted to be like his father and behave like John told him to, he doesn't want to live the life he is supposed to live (and we can also see it in episode 02x20, in which Dean sees what his life could have been without the death of his mother and demonstrates lots of courage by choosing to return to his normal life anyway). Knowing both what Dean wants and all that things that happen later in the other seasons, this makes me very sad.

Since we're speaking of Dean, I was left a bit shocked by his lack of hesitance on killing the people with the Croatoan virus (02x09). I get that he wanted to stop the virus, but they remained people, and of course when Sam gets the virus he doesn't kill him, which is more than understandable, but it also means that he could've at least waited a bit more before killing the others.

Since I've seen all of the other seasons rewatching 02x13 has been pretty funny, especially because of Dean. He keeps telling he doesn't believe in the angels’ crap and, well, we all know he's gonna change his mind. I also like that Sam is still faithful after all he's been through and especially since he's in this position of supernatural-slightly-demonic powers.

Speaking of which, John leaves a message to Dean before dying: if he can't save Sam from his powers he has to kill him instead of letting him become evil. This leads Dean to have two big thoughts hunting him, his supposed duty to kill his brother and his guilt for his father's death. I always feel like all the responsibilities grow on him and I would love it if he could have a way to release these feelings in some ways, but of course he never does it properly. It turns out Sam agrees with his father and tells Dean to kill him, but Dean has no intention of doing it (reasonably). In this season we can see how much Sam is scared of his psychic abilities, almost as if he's scared of turning in a monster (and we can see it clearly in what I think is the saddest episode of the season, 02x17, in which Sam has to kill the girl who turned out to be a werewolf).

I like how the writers have developed the jail theme, having episodes 02x07, 02x12, 02x19, in which the brothers have to face justice for what they've apparently done. The thing I like the most about these episodes is the fact that we know the Winchester have been in trouble with the law for good reasons, it is frustrating (but in a good way) to see the other people mistaking them for the bad guys (till a point they're even called monsters) and we can't even be mad at the cops, because they don't know the truth.

In this season there are introduced some new characters. First of all, I have to mention the trickster, not just because he provides the most senseless episode of the season (02x15, which I love), but also because I know his time on Supernatural is not over yet, fortunately. We also meet Ellen and Jo Harvelle, a mother and her daughter who own and manage the Roadhouse, a bar attended mostly by hunters, in which we find another character, Ash. I like all three of them for different reasons. Ash, the one with less screen time, is not as important as the other two, but he gives some funny moments and he's a smart guy (and I like the scene where Dean compliments his hairstyle). Ellen is a sweet and strong woman hurt by the death of her husband and a caring mother who doesn't want her daughter to have the same faith as her father. Jo, my favourite, is a passionate young girl who wants to follow her father's footprints and become a hunter. I honestly like her character a lot and the dynamic she has with dean in season two (end especially how they don't make out the second Dean enter the bar), they care about each other (Jo probably more than Dean does for now) and I love the fact that he has a girl in his life he doesn't just want to fuck (or viceversa), but who he can also kinda rely on. The only thing I don’t really get is the way she treats him after she finds out her father was with John when he died during a hunt (and that John was probably a part of what caused his death). I understand that she probably thinks (like her mother) that Dean would do the same thing with her, but it’s not like he has already done it, and he actually doesn’t know anything about what happened to her father.

There is also another character who's introduced in the first seasons but who has much more screen time in this one: Bobby Singer. He's one of my favourite characters on Supernatural ever and, I mean, who doesn't think it the same way? He's a loving, but also grumpy, old man who can perfectly sostituite John in his father role, indeed he's much better than him. He doesn't treat Sam and Dean as soldiers, but as his children first, and he cares about what troubles them and what inner thoughts they're facing. And that leads us at the end of the season, when Dean has already made the deal with a demon to bring his brother back to life (a thing Dean has condemned before, especially because his father did the same for him, which demonstrated a bit of hypocrisy, even if it's comprehensible). Bobby is mad at him and for good reasons: he understands Dean wanting Sam back and doesn't blame him for it, but what worries Bobby the most is the little (almost non-existent) care Dean reserves for himself. His self esteem (which is talked about more in the third season) seems so low he doesn't even care if he ends up in hell (and that he will in about a year). All he's been good at is being a good soldier and keeping his brother safe, protecting him, so when he faces the fact he hasn't saved Sam he can't live without bringing him back to life, even if that means sacrificing himself in the most terrible way. Sam now has to live with the weight of his brother's death and trip to hell (beside worrying about the upcoming war with the demons who escaped hell), but these are the main themes of season 3.

I don't think I was too old for this anime

One of the many things I love about anime is that you don’t need to stick to the specific age range an anime is aimed at, in order to enjoy it. Several anime that exist are loved by both children and adults alike. I came across the anime movie Your Name while looking at an on-line list of the top movies to watch before you’re thirteenth birthday. I don’t think it entirely mattered that I was a bit over thirteen and I think it would be a great movie to watch by people like me…..a little over that age, as we can all remember what it was like to be thirteen. We were all teenagers at some point and so it will appeal to many of us.

Your Name starts with the character of Mitsuha, who is bored of her quiet life in the country and dreams of living in the city. One day this dream becomes true as she wakes up in the body of Taki, a boy from Tokyo. This body switching happens between these two characters several more times until it suddenly stops, leaving the audience wondering why and what caused it in the first place. Taki tries to find the real Mitsuha while racing against his memory, as he is quickly forgetting that the body swapping experience ever took place.

I found the opening of Your Name, slightly confusing. Partly due to the fact that the timescale for events seems to be all over the place. The movie opens on a scene where Taki is in the body of Mitsuha, waking up extremely confused one morning. The scene then immediately switches to the following day, when Mitsuha is back in her own body, with her friends describing her odd behaviour from the previous day. We then return to the day before, when Mitsuha was in Taki’s body, dealing with his life at school and work. It wasn’t until this point that I actually understood what was going on. I would much rather have had a short extract from Mitsuha’s diary or something which could have been read out at the beginning of the movie, because I think it would have been much better to have had the audience focus on the plot and characters, rather than trying to figure out what on earth was going on.

The anime was a very slow burner, to the point of being boring at times. It wasn’t until I was about an hour into the film that I got that sense of wanting to know what happened next. Before I got to this stage, I could have happily turned the movie off without feeling that I needed a conclusion to the story.

The movie was almost split into 2 halves for me. The one which showed the body switching experiences, which focused on Mitsuha and the second half of the movie that focused on Taki and him trying to find Mitsuha. The first section of the movie, at times felt very repetitive. Yes, I did find the initial body swapping quite comedic and certain events the characters got in to, really quite funny, but after a while these did start to feel old.

I did find quite a lot of depth was gone into with the day to day activities carried out by the characters', which I thought could have been reduced. After all, this was not a movie all about learning about the traditions of a remote Japanese town. If all of the repetition had been removed, I think the story would have hung together a little better.

I really liked Your Name and even though I have talked about a few of my issues in this blog, these were only small niggles with the movie, which could easily be overcome. I would recommend Your Name, even if, like me, you are older than thirteen.

NB: The animation in this movie is some of the best i've seen in any anime, series or film. If for no other reason than you like watching great animation, then give this one a watch.

It makes me soft and sad at the same time, because it looks so cute, but happens at such difficult moments. "I've never paid attention to most of the things that fascinate me about him" - that's about me too XD

So aesthetically magnificent when he lies on the car hood, so attractive when he smokes on the stairs, his neck and profile in sunlight after he rehearsed his suicide (before dying hairs). And after he kills Randall? Seeing it for the first time the scene is horrific and sudden. But it's physically impossible to look away from him after, like being totally freezed and enchanted by his state, and his white face covered with blood looks so gorgeous.

And when I started to ignore Randall's presence and just watch Arthur: swift fling, then strong, confident, rhythmic beats (oh, I miss FEELING those sounds in cinema...) followed by a mesmerizing close-up. I mean, I'm sure that muscles contracting on his neck and heavy breathing at that moment alone are the reason for the movie to become R-rated, it's incredibly erotic XD I don't know if "neck porn" exists, but that scene definitely is one.

4 of 6. Of course I'm also aware that he's an actor and it's his job =D And I agree about seeing actors behind the character, and that it never happens with Joaquin. I watched every movie with Joaquin too, starting from SpaceCamp (so I missed "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers", "Kids Don't Tell" and some more), and in every movie I see a different person, every time it's like if I've never seen him before.

5 of 6. And it's not just that his physical apperance changes to fit a character, but also completely different behaviour as if his past actually different. I can't even apply a word "acting" to Joaquin because it implicates some level of insincerity and faking. He's not just reading words from the script and moving his face to show a specific needed emotion from a "facial expressions guidebook". Joaquin transforms from the inside. I'd say he's more an artist than an actor.

6 of 6. I think he's changing his inner state and experiencing those feelings, he believes in them in that moment on set and expresses them in the most natural way, and that makes us believe it too. Joaquin is using his body as an artist using a brush, paints and paper to express feelings. And it makes his dances so particularly intense. I deeply respect Joaquin, he seems to be such a nice and kind guy, I care for Arthur, but that doesn't make Toby N. Tucker less disgusting than he is.

But then it becomes inevitable to notice how beautiful it is, as you said by ignoring Randall, just staring at him. I’ve always wondered how a man can look like an angel after killing someone, I really can’t describe how angelic and fascinating he is in this scene, he’s so beautiful and I’m not talking only about his look, his beauty his deeper, like a rare beauty inside him. I really agree with everything you said! Ngl Killer Arthur with bloody white face is my kink lmaoo. I totally agree with what you said, I love his close-up with his neck muscles contracted and his heavy breathing omg. It’s really erotic and he’s wonderful with the bloody-white make up, I don’t know why. He looks so ghostly, captivating and magnetic, he has such a tragical beauty inside that leaves me always speechless.

Once again, I agree with everything you said. It’s not a matter of changing physical appearance or not, although he very often changes it for every movie he makes and I admire him for that, too. But mostly is a matter of totally changing his personality, he simply sinks into his characters and loses himself in this process. Oh I like this thing about calling Joaquin an artist, he really is! I love his poetics and the way he sees the art of acting, for him it’s not a static thing but something that is always moving, it’s all about improvisation, dynamism and creativity. He is a creative man indeed and I love that Todd allowed him to explore this side of himself totally, giving him the total freedom to improvise and create new scenes. Not every director would allow an actor to do so.

For example, in “The Master” Joaquin left me out of words. I mean he always leaves me out of words in every movie and I love each one of them, but in The Master he’s perfect. Freddie talks as if he had half of his jaw paralyzed, his back is always curved and is a character so dark and complex and he portrayed him perfectly. He’s really good as an actor, he’s one of my favorites for a reason sksk. I agree! Just as Joaquin makes us love characters like Arthur, he also makes us hate them, like Toby N. Tucker lmaoo. Although I feel only tenderness for him, because he acts like that because he’s insecure, I understand what you’re saying and he definitely isn’t very funny lmao. I think that an actor who makes you hate a character is really talent for sure. He really uses his body as an artist uses a brush omg, it’s really beautiful to think so!
