Reading death of superman/funeral for a friend is making me so sad for Lois and the Kents. Your loved one dies a horrible death. His death is broadcasted on live TV with the entire world watching, and no one can help. And then you have to pretend as if nothing happened because, after all, you don't know Superman personally, right? He's your son or your fiancee and you can't even admit to knowing them. All of his colleagues are allowed at the funeral — superheroes he hardly knew, politicians and journalists he never met — but you have to watch from afar. You don't get a say to what happens to his body, because revealing yourself as his relative would paint a giant target on your back and he wouldn't want that, especially when he can't protect you anymore.

And this is how you write a good civilian supporting cast for your superhero.
