Was I the only one who thought of the French and Saunders parody of PJ's LOTR films when all the hobbits start to call the Stranger Grand-elf?
I'm struggling to find a video of it now but it was so fucking funny apparently Sir Ian wanted to have it added to DVD extras or something.
Edited: bc I found it on Insta!

does anyone have that quote talking about how (dawn) french and (jennifer) saunders were making up new gags/sketches every night because they didn't want to repeat stuff meanwhile the boys were like well that got another laugh we can do that one every night for another couple years or something (in the comic strip club era i believe). i cant remember if it was written by one of them in one of their books or not but its a good possibility, but i think i've seen it on tumblr before??
(it wasnt written in a judgmental way at all it was just like their different comedy philosophies. it was written kind of in jest. in fact jennifer and dawn say in their respective books that they thought they HAD to change their act every evening jkfjladsk)
#french and saunders#jennifer saunders#dawn french#britcom#its perfectly likely no one knows what the hell im talking about but i'll scream into the void#but its written like. with juxtaposition. and exaggeration. it was funny. does this help#ik about this fact already but theres this specific rlly funny quote about it

Part of me wants to write a Midsomer Murders/Rosemary and Thyme crossover at some point.
The other part of me knows nothing i do will ever be as good as the French and Saunders one.
How do you top John Nettles saying the words “tit and minge”
And the kiss at the end
You can’t.

Stupid things that come into my head nearly every day that my brain just held on to from the past &/ pop culture (that are totally unconnected to each other too): (possibly pt.1)
'Laurence of A Labia' which I thiiiink is from Friends originally, incongruously, I don't remember the context but I think it was something to do with porn parodies & it's camp to me that this very family friendly 90s show managed to slip the word 'labia' in to their primetime
'Drojent' which was how somebody I knew about 20 years used to insist 'deodorant' was pronounced. This person also thought that clothes was pronounced 'Clove'. Literally every time I'm getting ready in the morning and use the items
Any time I lose something in the house, the clip of a very drunk tv chef Delia Smith at a football match shouting "where are ya?" Once again I have already forgotten all context behind this clip or what she was even originally referring to
A particular drink & cake that I used to get on my lunch break again probably nearly 15 years ago now that I've never yet been able to find again or recreate. It was a particular brand of white hot chocolate with an espresso shot in it, and the cake was (bizarrely specifically) an orange cake with orange flower water frosting. I have no idea why they thought that flavor would be popular but they had it on the menu for about a year! (One day I think I'll solve the recipe)
'Ebony Dark'Ness Dementia Raven Way' an absolutely unforgettable name from the iconic trollfic My Immortal
Various moments from Gremlins 2 although I haven't rewatched it in years and at this point it probably doesn't hold up
An involuntary memory of going to see Rocky Horror Picture show live with my best friend, only to find out that she had also invited her work friend, and then having to stand in full bondage-esque costume in the kitchen making very awkward small talk with the work friend's husband (who wasn't going) while my friend helped her in the bathroom with some disaster - this also happened nearly 15 years ago
The French and Saunders parody of Britney Spears and Madonna including Jennifer Saunders performing an unsexy dance with a walking stick and accidentally hitting herself and falling over
Various moments and quotes from different Wallace & Gromit clips which are now all jumbled in my head including 'I'm just crackers about cheese' which feels kind of ironic as I'm lactose intolerant
