(Disclaimer: A lot of Astrologers use different orbs of measurements for Astrocartography. My limit is 200 km because I have seen lines that have influences up to that point, and depending on the planet, sometimes more.)

Running it Back // Is the Juice Worth the Squeeze?

Why do they do it and why do we? Why do they reboot old film and television franchises again and again and why do we watch them? You can count them off: Coming to America, Indiana Jones, Miami Vice, etc etc. Some genuinely good, and some not so. Most have the usual formula of the once young and spritely hero, now the old and jaded anti-hero and trying to relate to modern times, including smartphones and social media. See John McClane in 2013's A Good Day to Die Hard.

Sequels and remakes are like that one last job in a classic bank heist movie. Get the band back together and let's run it back. They exist because the powers that be believe the franchise still has more juice to squeeze out of it. Alternatively, as Tom Sizemore's character says to Al Pacino in Heat, maybe "…. the action is the juice". Yes, let's make a bucket of money, but let's reignite the entire franchise.

How the new edition of the brand name relates to those that preceded it doesn't matter. That's because, usually, a film's distributor will stay the same, whereas the directors, producers, editors, and actors can often be swapped out much to the fanbase's chagrin. Still, many fans are just happy to have these characters back in our lives again, even if somewhat diminished. As one last "job" goes, someone or something is bound to die or get left behind.

Which brings me on to Beverley Hills Cop: Axel F. The fourth installment of the much-loved franchise and back with some familiar faces and some new ones. If the third is anything to go by, then this won't end well. But what's for sure is that I can't bring myself to not watch it.

Does Rob Walton Have Buyers’ Remorse with the Broncos?

It’s a privilege owning an NFL Team. Such a privilege that only 32 of the most privileged mother fuckers on the planet get to call a franchise their own. Yet in the case of Rob Walton and the Walton-Penner Family Ownership Group, this purchase has aged about as poorly as an investment with Sam Bankman-Fried.

Between Sean Payton and Russell Wilson, this franchise has spent 3 First Round Picks, 3 Second Round Picks, and about a Quarter of a Million Dollars to build the worst team in the NFL. Having started 0-3, they are well on their way to their 8th consecutive season without a playoff appearance and Russ is under contract through 2029. Today we’ll take a look at all of the Broncos’ most recent woes (which is becoming a bit of a tradition on our page, see the links below for our previous Broncos’ takes laughing at their misfortunes).

What better place to start delving through the Broncos’ misery than:

Losing in Historic Fashion by Allowing the Most Points in a Game in 57 Years

To say the Broncos are off to a rough start would be the understatement of the century. Two seasons in a row, this team has come into the year with hopes of an offensive revelation to complement their (once) stout Defense. Last year it was in the form of former Super Bowl Champion Russell Wilson, this year in the form of former Super Bowl Champion Sean Payton. On paper that sounds like a combination that could set the league on fire. So what has that looked like so far?

In Week 1 they held the Jimmy G led Raiders to 17 points and lost a close one. Ok, a tight division game, nothing to panic about. Then in Week 2, they gave up 35 points after jumping out to a commanding (😉) 21-3 lead and lost a shootout to the Commanders’ team that Buffalo basically shut out last weekend. Well that’s a little concerning, but hey it’s still early. And then in Week 3, a little trip to Florida ended as most trips to Florida do: in complete disaster with everyone involved questioning all of their life choices.

To say the Dolphins blew out the Broncos hardly seems a fitting characterization of that ill-fated Week 3 Contest. It was more than Miami simply dominating Denver, they flat out gave them the Danny Masterson treatment. 10 Total Touchdowns, 726 total yards of Offense, and the only reason this wasn’t the worst loss of all time is because Mike McDaniel showed Sean Payton mercy…..eventually. Maybe we’re wrong, but Sean Payton didn’t seem overly enthusiastic at his most recent post game presser. In fact, one might go so far as to say he didn’t want anything to do with the media in that moment. That may just be us speculating, but Payton was quick to cut off a reporter who simply wanted to highlight the significance of this historic occasion.

Which seems odd, given how chatty Payton was in his offseason interview with USA Today in which he called Hackett’s stint as Denver’s Head Coach last year “one of the worst coaching jobs in the history of the NFL.” Not sure where this campaign ranks in comparison to that, but if a genius like Payton just lost by 50, just imagine how bad things must have been under Hackett. Luckily, you can always rely on the fans for a calm, level-headed, rational perspective in these situations. The one thing that can turn around a struggling program is buy in from the players and belief in the system. Well the Broncos’ Defense visibly quit on the field last Sunday and teams that start 0-3 have about a 2.5% chance of making the playoffs.

Sprinkle in comments like the one from Patrick Surtain Sr., growing discontent from the fans, & a division ran by the dynastic Chiefs and it’s easy to see why a team going nowhere fast might want to recoup some of that wasted draft capital to try to be competitive by 2030. The Waltons surely had higher expectations when they agreed to purchase the team. They expected to be competing in the Super Bowl and instead they are now competing in:

That’s right, while the Broncos are off to a historically bad start, they aren’t the only team vying for the first overall pick in the 2024 draft. Much like the Broncos, the Chicago Bears came into the season full of optimism that their Quarterback and their Offense would take a significant step forward. Also like the Broncos, that delusional drug-induced pipe dream never came to fruition.

Many thought Justin Fields would follow in the footsteps of Jalen Hurts, develop as a thrower with a true No.1 Receiver, and become an MVP Caliber player. Instead, Fields ranks 29th in Passing Yards, has thrown the 3rd most interceptions, and ranks 34th in QBR at 21.3.

Week 4 will be the ultimate test to see what wins out between the Broncos’ inept Defense and The Bears’ impotent Offense with a shot at a franchise altering Quarterback on the line (stop me if you’ve heard this one before). While we most certainly won’t be tuning in for that flaming shitbag of a game, you can bet that Rob Walton and his Ownership Group will be watching every snap just praying that Sean Payton fucks this one up too so they might be able to dangle a shiny USC Quarterback in front of season ticket holders and start recouping their investment in 2024.

Bust, not bust!

Is “character building” a thing? Do we just grow, develop confidence, courage and even a little swagger no matter we’re succeeding or failing? Maybe it’s best to leave deep questions like that to Socrates or Colin Cowherd.

If it is, indeed, a thing, then Sunday’s exciting comeback win over the Saints built a lot of character in the Green Bay Packers locker room.

Defensive coordinator Joe Barry gets savaged by fans and on social media daily. And yet, he coordinated a defense that gave up 10-points missing Jaire Alexander, while also losing his back-up, and linebacker De’Vondre Campbell. I’m no Joe Barry fan, and the Saints offense looks nothing like the Miami Dolphins. No matter, holding any NFL offense to 10 points is plenty good.

The Packers collection of “green as grass”, barely legal, pass receivers dropped passes all over the field for 3-quarters. Then, in the 4th quarter they played like a bunch of savvy veterans pulling down one big catch after another. Jayden Reed lays out for a beautiful 30 yarder down the sideline, Romeo Doubs snatches a back shoulder touchdown for the tie followed by Samori Toure grabbing a “think fast” laser from Jordan Love for the 2-point conversion.

Patient, creative play-calling

Coach Matt LaFleur, was subtly underrated while winning 39-games in his first three-seasons as coach as someone just riding the coattails of Aaron Rodgers. Playing the home opener against a very good Saints defense, missing four of his best offensive players, the offensive mastermind kept throwing plays against the wall. A flea flicker early, an end-around to his slot-corner kick returner, and fade after fade after yet another missed fade, the coach kept on digging into his bag of tricks until he found the right toy.

Then, there was first time starting QB Jordan Love. For 3 quarters his accuracy was not good, his long ball was too long, or off just enough. Early in the game he couldn’t even get it right with his cleats, slipping on the flea flicker/pass back that could have been a 30-40 yard gain. We don’t know if his 4th down miss to Emanuel Wilson was his fault, but it felt like a Wayne Larrivee “dagger” to the Packers chances to win.

Crunch-time

For most of the final 15 minutes Love seemed to channel his inner Joe Montana, Aaron Rodgers and John Elway. He simply made play after play. You could feel his teammates and the fans rallying around him.

The aforementioned Colin Cowherd and a small segment of Packer fans predicted Jordan Love would be a bust. With so little evidence, I’m amazed when people say things quite that stupid. Cowherd saying stupid things is not surprising at all, it’s a matter of seeing his lips moving.

At this point, Love has plenty to improve upon, like his overall accuracy and particularly his long-ball but with training camp and 3-games under his belt, we’ve seen enough to say this guy is not, NOT, a bust. With practice and more character building, he may be a franchise QB.

Reality TV is a popular genre of television programming that focuses on unscripted circumstances and real people. The public sphere, as defined, is a space or realm where people gather to discuss and debate issues of public importance, and reality TV plays a part in developing it by portraying real-life situations and issues that stimulate dialogues and arguments among viewers. Reality TV programmes give people from all origins and viewpoints a place to express their experiences and tales, which can increase empathy and understanding among viewers and encourage greater inclusivity and diversity in public life. For instance, the singing competition show on American Idol offered a venue for young artists to display their skill and be seen by a large audience. The programme provoked public arguments regarding the music business and the function of talent competitions in determining the direction of popular music. The Real Housewives franchise, which chronicles the lives of rich women in various places across the globe, is another example. Since the success of this reality series, the Kadarshian-Jenner family planned the next development of several spin-off shows and other related programming such as Kourtney and Khloé in Miami, Kourtney and Kim Take Miami, Kourtney and Kim Take New York, Khloé & Lamar, Kourtney and Khloé Take The Hamptons, Dash Dolls, Rob & Chyna, I Am Cait and Life of Kylie.

A lot of reality television stars rely on social media to grow their fan base or maintain it after they have done filming a programme. To improve their popularity and viewership, some reality TV shows target individuals who already have a sizable internet fan base. Other contestants on reality TV shows might wish to use social media to keep up their star status by interacting with viewers.

Week 5: How has the Kardashians reality tv show made an impact in society

Cities are regularly used by television networks as the main means to distinguish different seasons of a popular reality television programme. The Kardashian franchise on E! has a plethora of spin-offs, including Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami (2009–10), Kourtney and Kim Take Miami (2013), and Kourtney and Kim Take New York (2011–12), all of which are based in certain places. These programmes demonstrate how important city life is to reality television, even though reality television scholarship has not yet addressed this subject. So, it's not as though the happy, optimistic metropolis of reality television is unaware of the political economy of social expulsions. Instead, it is providing a variety of aesthetic, narrative, and characterological tactics to help us create an image of modern urbanity in our minds(Kraszewski, J 2017). Yet, numerous of the opinions, diagrams, and announces we come across on contemporary urban reality shows remind us of earlier periods in urban history while the municipality was residence to every classes (Kraszewski, J 2017). Reality television uses numerous aesthetic tactics to portray today's towns the cities of the political economics of social expulsions. The Kardashian's new series is an example of reality television that I want to discuss. With a compellingly real tale of love and life in the the limelight, this television show draws viewers in(IMDB, 2022). For Twenty seasons, between 2007 to the year 2021, KUWTK the family, rose to fame and were perhaps among the most prominent people in the world. Kim Kardashian praised viewers for their 14 years of encouragement when winning the prize for Best Reality Show at the 2021 People's Choice Awards(Theonila, V 2022). The paths and tracks that viewers take when they explore cultural programming are influencing how they view television and linked social media. Developments reveal much about the types of media that are important to people and how they process these encounters. The social fantasy is linked to this symbolic power of media. Thus, a right to roam suggests that tv story is accessible to anyone, and whether we consume content, share it with others, or retell old tales in new ways, we contribute to the creation of a shared, communal perspective that is shaped and maintained by consumption. One of the conventional ways of experiencing radio, television, books, and print media in the home; these traditional methods are evident when individuals cuddle up in bed with a crime novel or watch their favourite show while sitting on the couch with a cup of tea. This portrayal of people that have been captivated by media narrative in a certain location and period. This outdated mode contrasts sharply with the current always-online, video streaming, play-all option. According to Holt and Sanson (2014), connected viewing includes all of the following: radio, print, television, and social media. This style of seeing is characterised by productivity and several screens being used simultaneously. This is a picture of audiences that have access to a variety of screen cultures and the power to fit their favourite shows into individualised timetables(Hill, A 2018).

Our daily media habits are woven into time over the course of weeks, months, and years as we integrate media into our lives. In this section, embedded interaction is discussed in the context of daily life, where people develop relationships with entertainment over time. In the short term, viewers lose their connection to a preferred show as it becomes less ingrained in their daily lives, but in the long run, broadcasters are betraying viewers at a time when power is shifting away from television's foundation to diverse media content hubs across multiple platforms surroundings. The broadcaster held an area of authority that allowed it to alter the show's schedule in a negative way, destroying viewers' interest in the occasion. This general demise of the television series was greatly influenced by the disregard for a the viewer's expenditure of time as part of their sustained relationship with the brand(Hill, A 2018). The rapidity of current occurrences is emphasised in reality talent shows. The series' more robust collective-social phenomenon competed with the worth and significance of the live events as a transient encounter. Justice is coming to “Fast and Furious 9” in a big way: with the return of Sung Kang as beloved Toretto family member Han.

Han’s homecoming was teased in a new trailer for Universal’s May 22 action sequel, directed by frequent series helmer Justin Lin, which sees Vin Diesel‘s Dominic Toretto trying to leave his quarter-mile-at-a-time life behind.

“It’s emotional — it feels like I’m going back to a family reunion,” said the actor ahead of his surprise appearance onstage at Friday’s pre-Super Bowl trailer premiere and concert event in Miami. “It’s a relationship that has been missing in my life since the last ‘Fast.’”

The trailer is expected to make its television debut on Sunday during the big game.

Han’s return to the franchise comes as a shock partly because the death of the character, who was introduced in the third film, has been depicted multiple times onscreen in the nine-film series — in 2006’s “Tokyo Drift,” again in 2013’s “Fast & Furious 6" and again at the beginning of 2015’s “Furious 7.”

Then again, no blockbuster series has played as fast and loose with the rules or with its own mythology as the $5-billion-plus grossing saga that began as the humble tale of macho street racers in 2001’s “The Fast and the Furious.”

Kang became a pivotal linchpin when he originated the role of Han in 2006 threequel “Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift.” His character proved so charismatic that director Lin and screenwriter Chris Morgan bent time to bring him back for the next three films, making “Fast & Furious,” “Fast Five” and “Fast & Furious 6” prequels to “Tokyo Drift.”

That bold move made Han a bridge between Dominic Toretto’s crew of L.A. street racers and the international roster of spies, special operatives and professional thieves the films are now known for. But how the franchise treated its only Asian American main cast member after that led to fan outrage and the hashtag #JusticeForHan.

At the end of “Fast & Furious 6,” filmmakers tinkered with the series’ canon to reveal who had actually been responsible for Han’s death: British ex-operative Deckard Shaw. Played by Jason Statham, the new character was introduced causing the fiery crash that claimed Han’s life.

The seventh film began with the grieving Toretto crew out to avenge the murder of their close friend. By the next installment, however, fans were in for a shock: Refashioning Statham’s Shaw into a hero, “Fate of the Furious” saw Dom seemingly forgive the former villain, who even got an invite to the family barbecue.

The abrupt turn spawned the #JusticeForHan hashtag. Social media outcry increased when Statham, now a full-fledged good guy, got his own spinoff movie last year opposite Dwayne Johnson, “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.”

For Kang, watching the “Justice for Han” movement rally around the character that launched his career was initially hard to process.

“At first it was easy to dismiss it,” he said. “I wondered, does the audience really have a voice?”

On the outside of creative decisions that were being made as the franchise continued to evolve without him, Kang himself wondered if the retconned Shaw storyline left Han’s legacy out in the cold. “When Shaw came in and was revealed to be the killer and got invited into the family fold … that’s where you went, ‘Well, is this character being respected?’”

Han’s return to the franchise coincides with the return of director Lin, who indicated where his heart lies when he was spotted on the “Fast 9" set wearing a “Justice for Han” T-shirt. The upcoming film is written by Daniel Casey.

Okay once more with feeling, with the characters being at the ages they would be in 2020 as opposed to the series, how would the characters of Stranger Things react to the COVID-19/Coronavirus Pandemic? I will include my theories.

Eleven: Stocked up on Eggos and other ingredients, uses recovered psychic powers to keep an eye on the Party and her in-laws, tells her and Mikes’ kids to lay off of Eggos.

Jim Hopper: The cabin is newly constructed, he lives off the land, Facetimes with Joyce, constructed some booby traps (letting the Party know), planting signs informing at-risk people live there.

Ives Sisters: Ordering in and sanitizing everything and in contact with Eleven and the kids as they are senior citizens, Mikes’ and Elevens’ eldest (who is into clean eating and going to college nearby) stays with them, watching them and teaching them social media and clean eating.

Joyce Byers: Stocked up on some frozen foods and froze casseroles, making calls with her PTA voice, Facetiming the kids and grandkids, Will’s husband (of Latin extraction) sends a bunch of Vicks to her (as with the rest).

Will Byers: Facetiming family, set up D&D on Zoom, his husband keeps him fed and sanitized and in stock with Vicks, keeping indoors as he is sure he is at risk, sanitized self and moved in to keep an eye on Hop and Joyce.

Jonathan Byers: Taking photos, Facetiming, getting exercise to keep ready for battle, improving on home surgical skills, doing some homeschooling with his and Nancy’s kids and even virtual for the Partys’ kids, sanitizing everything, livestreaming tributes to fallen musicians even Kenny Rogers for Bob Newby.

Nancy Wheeler: Cleaning, exercising to keep ready for battle, stockpiling on her weapons, writing blog pieces and active on social media, homeschooling, Facetiming, sends reminders in text and social media and on the phone to tell Karen to sit down at home, checks in on Barb’s parents.

Mike Wheeler: Using limited cooking skills for Eleven’s energy, taking cooking tutorials, often uses Eleven’s physical help with strenuous stuff, tells kids to lay off of “Mommy’s Eggos” and promises he will cook them some homemade ones (albeit burnt), Facetiming, Karen can hear him screaming to sit down at home from 20 miles.

Karen Wheeler: Cleaning house, doing YouTube livestream exercise classes and at home beauty and cooking tutorials, Facetiming, is frustrated as all her kids tell her to stay her ass at home and her daughter in law is using her psychic powers to keep an eye on her.

Holly Wheeler: Lives away from home, tells her parents to sit their asses down (Ted is redundant), Facetimes siblings, keeps up to date with all information and news coming out, sanitizes everything, even delivery and pickup, re-watches all her childhood favorites, makes Nancy and Mike tell her what was going on when she was a kid.

Ted Wheeler: Sits his ass down without being told, doesn’t worry about food as Karen and the kids handle it, misses the grandkids’ presence but relieved he doesn’t have to endure collective eye-rolling from them and their parents and Karen, doesn’t think Trump is doing much wrong on purpose but doesn’t know what to think, uncomfortable with Samuel Jackson saying “Sit Your Ass At Home” as language....

Dustin Henderson: D&D livestreaming, frustrated he can’t go out but keeping an eye on his mom and needed her help and Suzie’s help with their kid before her spring break as he wanted “to party” in Miami. Falls for fake news sometimes which Suzie corrects, Suzie texts him “thanks” for the camping trailer he bought impulsively 6 years ago as she camps there after her shifts at the hospital and she made contact with her estranged parents again and glad to see they loved him and Claudia.

Claudia Henderson: At home with her son and daughter in law and two grandchildren, she goes on social media to remind people that Hillary warned them about Trump being an incompetent for a crisis, was a Warren supporter and mourning her out of the race, keeps in touch with young feminists over social media and goes on Tumblr on the regular.

Lucas Sinclair: Has hoarded New Coke when it came out again and other sodas and snacks for family movie nights, learning social media from the kids, argues and makes love to Max, uses his spying skills to keep an eye out for violations, tells parents where they can watch livestreams of church services, made the mistake of dropping in on Dustin’s house with Dustin armed with Lysol.

Erica Sinclair: Stocked up on candies and ice cream long before this, orders in food or pick up, devised creative weapons, grades her students’ with a flourish, Facetimes Lucas and Max and their kids, home schools economics to the Party’s kids, childfree and loving it, reminds her parents it’s not a good time to even be having kids, gets anxious about the state of capitalism and all the “eat the rich” memes and Parasite and The Hunt really got to her. Has opinions on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and is a authority on the franchise.

Mr. and Ms. Sinclair: Staying home, their kids really get on them about going out, in their day one obeyed their parents and respected them by not objecting to them or letting them do things but now their kids and grandkids are telling them to stay home for their own good, Mr. Sinclair has learned livestreaming and zoom from his grandkids two years ago and set up VA meetings on zoom while Ms. Sinclair has been introduced to channels like The Take, For Harriet, and even set up her own accounts on Tumblr and Pinterest. Also makes “dates” with Mr. Sinclair to take virtual trips.

Murray Bauman: Elderly but has been sanitizing things and even created his own hazmat suit, looks with pride on his 30 year stock of toilet paper, has lots of vodka.

Dr. Sam Owens (if still alive): Keeping everyone up to date with information from his colleagues before he retired, letting them know that the President was aware of the news but ignored it, tells Hop and Joyce that he also has some mentees aware of the Hawkins Conspiracy and can be addressed if things go wrong.

Robin Buckley: Watches movies on Amazon Prime, Netflix, MUBI, Hulu and streams tv series. Active Tumblr and argues on Facebook. Doing zoom lectures for her students, “lunches” with Erica between their classes, gets high with Steve over Facebook Live, does virtual meetings of local LGBTQIA groups, flowers to Barb’s grave for her parents (she told them about a relationship she and Barb had in the past and was welcomed warmly).

Steve Harrington: Home a lot, exercises, has been clean eating for years and keeps up a high protein diet, organic gardening, checks on the Party, sanitizes constantly, does YouTube tutorials for hair and exercise, active on Twitter and Instagram where he is in constant contact with a long distance (for now) partner.

Keith (ew): Still wiping his nose on his sleeve, people give him dirty looks more, eating junk, and not exercising. Still hoping Nancy will hit him up.

Mr. and Mrs. Holland: Staying home, Nancy checks in on them also their relatives, delivery sent to their home, they still miss Barb and wish she was there, they stay in contact with Robin who orders flowers for Barb’s grave.

Max Mayfield: Practices her skateboarding and gets her and Lucas’s kids to , film her for tutorials, argues with Lucas and then they make pre-menopausal love, frustrated at her white roots showing in her hair.

Susan Hargrove: Has thankfully divorced from Neil a long time ago, is ecstatic (but guilty) when she hears he died from the virus with his last words being “it’s all a hoax”, Facetimes Max and Lucas and their kids and stays at home making dinner for one (even if she gets distracted and it burns) and taking virtual tours of countries Neil disliked in peace.

Kali Prasad: Uses psychic powers to ward off anyone who encroaches on her space and is not practicing social distancing, if she does go out at all (aside from exercising).

Samantha Stone: Does YouTube vids about 1980s music history and alternative culture to young people, supports Bernie Sanders for President, and donates $100 a month to The Take on Patreon.
