Founders The Cranfather (Picked up at Total Wine). A 3 of 4. This is much better than I was expecting -- the cranberry, orange, and cherry are all present but not dominant. The base is seemingly a pretty standard malty strong ale that has a ton of bourbon notes and toffee / roast sweetness to it, and then the fruit notes on top add a bit of tartness and interest, but don't dominate.

Today’s side-by-side was stouts. First was Expedition Stout, a Russian Imperial, Stout, from Bell’s Brewery out of Comstock, MI. This was really good, a very thick coffee, taste and a weird heat on the finish, almost like it was a chilli beer. Next up was Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Imperial Milk Stout from Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company out of Lexington, KY. This was really good with a heavy bourbon flavor in the middle. All in all these were both good stouts, but I’d take a Founders or a Baptist over both of them.

Actually I think the reason why there’s a June wedding con because if I remember correctly Epic Cons had a poll if anyone shipped steroline and 70% of the people answered they ship steroline and I think that’s why they had a June Wedding theme con. Tbh I’m so happy that the con goers are so positive about the June Wedding theme even Ian’s brother was so excited about it haha I think most of the Epic Con organizer are DE or SC shippers and thats why it happened since most founders of the con shipped it too. I just also love the fact that the June wedding VIP got sold out for only 5mins which was insane since vip tickets are so expensive xD anyways Steroline’s June wedding you will always be famous 😽
You can really tell how the con organizers love steroline with all the steroline stuff they actually used. Like even the official event tee was inspired by SC wedding which is the color purple and the design has bourbon and a bloodbag on it with a lettering “Caroline’s Bachelorette” 🥹 even the side events are called A June Wedding Reception and Till Death Do Us Party wherein they honor Steroline 🥹🥹 as a steroline shipper I love it sooooo much. It’s what Steroline deserves 🫶🏻
Ah thank you Anons! This makes me feel better about it knowing that at least the organizers did it because people voted for it and they made sure to incorporate Steroline into stuff! I do think that the Epic cons seem more organized than most, like the panels are moderated well and from what I've seen of the videos the decor always looks great. I'm really excited to see how the dress everything up and I hope people take photos of the event. I looked at the schedule for panels and I like that they pair different people up (I am especially happy Paul and Ian don't do one together) and I love that Arielle is moderating a few she's so good at that.
I think in general when it comes to the GA or just people not involved with the twitter/reddit TVD fandom they go with the canon couples. Plus DE is the most popular ship and a lot of those shippers like Steroline because they work in tandem so makes sense also SC was a pretty big fandom back in the day and people seem to forget. We did tons of trends on Twitter and we won the EW Top Couple Award in S6 we just weren't a loud fanbase if you will. It seems that being loud is what makes people think you're popular. Empty barrels make the most noise.
TIL that Ian has a brother lol

It's October 1st, which means it's time for 31 Pumpkins! (aka, one woman's quest to drink and rate a different pumpkin beer every day during the month of October)
Tumblr media
This year is the 10th anniversary of this pumpkin-y pursuit. And back in 2013 was the only time I finished the challenge, so I have good if spooky vibes for this year's effort.
Before we get going, a quick reminder of the Pumpkin Quotient, or PQ Scale, ranging in score from -5 to +5 with a score of zero being perfect.
-5 = Where's the pumpkin?

5 = Like licking a Yankee Candle
The first selection packs a wallop: The Headless Gourdsman, by Founders Brewing in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Aged in bourbon barrels finished in maple syrup, this beer packs a punch at 13% ABV. Lots of flavor, though it's that maple flavor that dominates over anything pumpkin spice.
On the PQ scale:
The Headless Gourdsman: -3
